Police Rush to Perez Hilton’s Home Amid Shocking Livestream Concerns

0

Miami law enforcement was quick to respond to an urgent situation at the home of celebrity blogger Perez Hilton on Tuesday. Officers were alerted after Hilton’s concerning behavior was broadcast live on TikTok.

According to the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched after receiving numerous emergency calls. The reports claimed an individual was engaging in self-harm during the live social media stream, prompting immediate action.

Although the Daily Mail withheld the video, snippets from the broadcast purportedly depicted Hilton with visible injuries, wielding a knife in distressing scenes.

Upon arrival, officers communicated with Hilton’s family members outside the residence. After confirming that Hilton was alone, they opted for a strategic withdrawal while continuing to keep a close watch on the situation.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office emphasized their approach in such sensitive situations: “In incidents involving mental health crises or self-harm, deputies focus on de-escalation. This involves creating time, maintaining distance, and fostering avenues for open dialogue,” they explained to the Daily Mail.

‘Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public.’

‘At this time, deputies have tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation and providing the needed support to his family.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Hilton’s representatives for comment.

The video has been taken down and Hilton’s account has since been suspended by TikTok.

It’s unclear who was home at the time the video was filmed before police arrived, but Hilton is father to three children he welcomed via surrogacy.

His eldest son was born in 2013, followed by two daughters in 2015 and 2017.

Hilton’s representatives, Golden Artists Entertainment Co-CEOs Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan, told TMZ in a statement, ‘We are aware of the concerning content circulating online involving our client, Perez Hilton.’

‘At this time, we have not been able to make direct contact with him, despite our ongoing efforts to reach him. Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family. Until we have confirmed information, we will not speculate or comment further.’

‘We appreciate everyone’s concern and ask that his privacy be respected during this time.’

Nationwide Decline in Literacy Rates Spurs Low-Income Families to Seek Support

0

Ruby and her 11-year-old son, Mark, anxiously awaited the day when the national school evaluation scores would be unveiled.

Their concerns were confirmed when the results showed that despite Mark’s diligent efforts to learn, he was still lagging behind his classmates in Year 5.

Mark, whose full name remains unpublished at the request of the Australian Associated Press, was one of over 1.3 million students from Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 participating in the 2026 National Assessment Program — Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).

As Australia’s sole standardised assessment, NAPLAN primarily provides governments and academic institutions a way to evaluate outcomes and address any teaching or funding deficiencies.

However, for students like Mark, receiving these results can be quite discouraging.

He has ADHD and autism and needs extra support at school.

“When I got the results, because it comes under Mark’s name, he wanted to see his results,” Ruby said.

“In his reading column … it actually said the bottom, bottom.

“I just thought to myself, ‘How could it be right at the bottom when he’s improved so much?'”

But scores for reading were worse than in 2025 for every year level, and Year 5 students were the only cohort whose writing ability had improved.

Overall, about one in three students across all levels did not meet basic literacy and numeracy benchmarks, falling into “developing” and “needs additional support” categories.

The writing scores were a particular concern in the two lowest grades tested, with less than 10 per cent of students exceeding national benchmarks.

Numeracy results had improved for most cohorts since 2025, though Year 3’s score had decreased.

Results from previous years showed a clear literacy divide between children from wealthy, educated areas and those who grow up in areas of low socio-economic status.

Ruby said she also struggled at school and her challenges went unnoticed because of her learning environment.

She is now raising her children on a low income.

“With Mark, I just wish there was more people, just more at the school to help,” she said.

Better support that understands the specific needs of struggling families would help improve results, The Smith Family chief executive Doug Taylor said.

“With 72,000 low-income students across Australia, the right support at the right time can make a huge difference,” he said, noting schools should also consider the skills students had beyond academic ones.

In rural communities and towns with high Indigenous populations, results have dramatically improved in recent years.

That was due to increased funding and the use of explicit teaching models, Education Minister Jason Clare said in a speech at the Garma Indigenous festival over the weekend.

“Over the last four years, the numeracy results of Indigenous students have gone up and up,” he said.

“In Year 5 by 9.5 points and in Year 7 by 9.3 points. That’s a good sign.”

Separately, the federal government’s commitment to cover a quarter of the Schooling Resource Standard to reach full funding for public schools was rolled out in 2026.

In October, the controversial Thriving Kids program will, in part, replace the National Disability Insurance Scheme for children under nine with development delays.

Tasmanian students did not sit NAPLAN in 2026 because of industrial action.

Capybaras Calmly Disrupt Brazilian Legislature, Capturing Hearts Worldwide

0

Brazil’s adorable capybaras, renowned as the globe’s largest rodents and beloved social media stars, recently graced a legislative assembly building with their presence, much to everyone’s surprise.

CUIABÁ, State of Mato Grosso — The state legislature has become accustomed to interruptions during its voting sessions as an unexpected group of visitors crash the proceedings: capybaras.

The famously laid-back creatures casually wandered into the legislative building in Cuiaba, a city in Mato Grosso located in central Brazil, catching lawmakers off guard as they prepared for a crucial vote last week. The facility is conveniently situated next to a park bustling with wildlife.

On July 30, staff member Nayara Bueno captured the unanticipated entrance of these South American natives, making a valiant effort to guide the furry guests back to their natural habitat in the park.

“They drop by often enough that we’ve become accustomed to seeing them around,” Bueno remarked.

Capybaras have surged in global popularity online due to their remarkably calm demeanor and highly social nature. As semi-aquatic animals, they thrive near rivers, lakes and wetlands, often living in groups and growing to weigh up to 80 kilograms (175 pounds).

Their visit caused no damage to the Mato Grosso state legislature.

US Weapons Stockpile Depletion Raises Concerns Amid Rising China Threat

0

Recent assessments indicate that the United States has exhausted more than half of its weapons stockpiles during its ongoing conflict with Iran. According to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, while the U.S. maintains enough missiles for continued engagement with Iran, the real concern lies in preparing for future confrontations.

“Even after utilizing half of our armament stocks, we are in a position to sustain long-term operations against Iran,” stated Mark Cancian, a retired U.S. Marines colonel and senior advisor with the CSIS Defense and Security Department.

Cancian emphasized that the more significant risk involves potential future conflicts, particularly with China in the Western Pacific.

Cancian noted increasing anxiety among military officials regarding weapon supplies, especially when considering other possible global tensions, notably with China.

“Concerns over depleted munitions were pivotal in the decision to halt air strikes,” Cancian explained. “Our arsenal levels fell well below the expectations of strategic planners, potentially emboldening adversaries like China to act.”

Almost one-third of Tomahawk missiles have been used since the war in Iran began. Nearly two-thirds of Patriot missile interceptors have been depleted. Just over half of precision strike missiles remain.

President Donald Trump insists the U.S. has plenty of munitions to continue in Iran.

“We have a lot of ammunition, different types,” President Trump said in July. “I mean, more than we could ever use, no matter what. But we have a lot. I’d like to have more, to be honest.”

CSIS notes many munition stockpiles are substantial but focused its analysis on seven key weapons that have been effective in Iran and would also be valuable in a possible Pacific conflict.

“We have a defense industrial base that needs to be fixed at a very critical time in our history with the conflict in the Middle East,” Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, said. “President Xi of China is watching our stockpiles very closely as he contemplates threatening behavior towards the Taiwan straits, and, so, it all kind of factors in together here. And to be a strong United States, we need a strong military and project strength abroad.”

The Pentagon is requesting significant increases in spending for weapons manufacturing, and lawmakers from both sides of the aisle believe the funding is of importance.

“Look, I have real concerns about our defense industrial base, and God forbid we find ourselves in a lengthy, serious war in our ability to produce what we need,” Rep. Chris Deluzio, D-Pa., said. “I actually think it’s a place where you can get some cooperation across the parties who want to see us re-industrialize.”

The Pentagon’s budget request for fiscal year 2027 includes $5.8 Billion for Tomahawk missiles, an increase of 513% from the fiscal year 2026 request. Proposed spending for precision strike missiles is 245% higher, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAADS) is up 650% and the request for Patriot Missile Segment Enhancement is 927% higher.

“Listen, if it’s a $1.5 trillion package for defense, I’m all in. I really am,” Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, said. “The munitions are going to be there. We’re going continue to do what we have to do to protect the world, protect Israel and everybody else in the region.”

U.S. Central Command said it carried out another wave of airstrikes against Iran July 17, 2026. (CENTCOM)

If and when the funding is approved, it could take years for the new munitions to reach the battlefield.

“It takes quite a long time for the U.S. to produce new interceptors. They’re complex manufacturing assemblages, and thus depleting those stockpiles does leave the U S materially worse off than it otherwise would have been in the current conflict,” said UC Berkeley Senior Research Scholar Cameron Tracy.

The Patriot missiles requested in the fiscal year 2027 budget likely will not be available on the front line for another 3½ years. The Tomahawk estimated delivery time sits at almost four years. Some munitions orders could take as long as five years.

“Before the war, it would typically take about two years for the first system to arrive and then another year after that for the last,” Cancian said. “You have to sign a contract, and then the manufacturer has to go out with the subcontractors and get all the materials. With the war, those timelines have been extended.”

The Trump administration has created framework agreements with contractors to increase production capacity for key munitions. The deals call for new facilities, ambitious timelines and additional weapons systems.

“You can increase production capacity — we are doing that — [for] Patriot and many other systems. First, you have to recruit more people and train them up,” Cancian said. “Then you can expand your facilities, but that takes time. You got to build the facilities, and you got to get all the permits and everything else. So, it can be done. We’re seeing it happen, but, again, it takes time.”

NYC Mayor Mamdani Criticized for “Stickers of Shame” Plan

0

New York City’s vibrant streets are once again playing host to the notorious ‘stickers of shame,’ with Mayor Zohran Mamdani defending their return to the urban landscape. These glaring lime green notices are being applied to cars violating parking rules, replacing traditional tickets and towing.

Reintroduced by City Council member Gale Brewer after a 12-year hiatus, the 8.5 x 11-inch stickers require more than just elbow grease—and a scraper—to remove them from offenders’ vehicles.

Although Mamdani did not personally endorse the legislation by signing or vetoing it, he proceeded with its implementation and justified its necessity during a press briefing held on Tuesday.

“Ensuring the Sanitation Department can effectively conduct street cleaning is of utmost importance,” he articulated.

“In my conversations with the dedicated team at DSNY, we always discuss methods to streamline their hard work. If this initiative contributes towards that, it has my complete backing,” he affirmed.

The first stickers were placed on cars that blocked street cleaning vehicles Tuesday morning at W. 90th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West.

David Greenfield, a former New York City councilmember, fought the stickers back in his time on the council and was dismayed to see them return.

‘For 14 blissful years, these stickers were illegal in NYC because I banned them when I served in @NYCCouncil. Why? Many of drivers getting stickered were innocent and the glue wrecked their cars,’ he said.

He continued: ‘A ticket is a penalty. Gluing trash to someone’s windshield is vandalism.’

While many people blamed the policy and the punishments, some even turned on Mayor Mamdani after NY Times reporter Emma Fitzsimmons posted about the stickers.

‘What would Emma have said if the new “commie” mayor just had her car towed?’ asked one X user

‘Mamdani gentle parenting car owners in nyc,’ added another.

‘The liberals hate the police but will waste no time co-opting any symbol of the police for their own control tactics,’ said one more.

Social media users were also not amused after seeing the size and color of the garish, difficult-to-remove adhesives.

One asked: ‘How is this not vandalism?’

‘Why don’t they just tow the car?’ wondered another.

Do you think plastering huge, hard-to-remove stickers on cars is justified in the fight for clean streets?

‘This is idiotic, is the ticket not enough,’ pondered a critic.

The Department of Sanitation claimed over half a million vehicles violate alternate-side parking rules every week.

Brewer told the New York Post that ‘There’s just not enough cops’ to properly enforce parking laws otherwise.

Sanitation Commissioner Gregory Anderson claimed that the $65 tickets were nowhere near the deterrent they should be.

‘For many New Yorkers, a $65 summons is simply the cost of free street parking, and our streets are dirtier because of it,’ Anderson said.

He added that he would prefer the ability to use automated cameras to enforce it but that the state government would have to give them the authority to do so.

‘We hope that these stickers motivate people to move their cars. Our goal is clean streets that all New Yorkers deserve, not to use stickers nor to write tickets.’

For Brewer, its a matter of making it easier to clean the streets.

‘Street cleaning only works when cars move. Warning stickers were one of the City’s most effective tools for improving compliance before they were banned in 2012,’ she said.

Open Heaven 5 August 2026 TOPIC – Be Open To Feedback

MEMORISE: A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: – Proverbs 1:5 (KJV)

READ: Acts 18:24-28 (KJV)

24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 6-8

Open Heaven 5 August 2026 MESSAGE

In Yorubaland, where I come from, the elders have an adage that says, “The lantern cannot see its own bottom. What they mean by this saying is that, no matter how knowledgeable a fellow is, there are areas in the fellow’s life that will be hidden from his or her view. This is why you must be willing to receive feedback from others who can see you more objectively than you can see yourself.

In Revelation 3:15-17, the Lord said that some people, according to their own judgment, believed they had everything going well for them because they were rich and appeared not to lack anything; however, by His own standards, they were wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.

If a person is too proud to receive feedback, people will see the fellow walking towards a ditch and leave him or her to fall into it. Proverbs 24:6 says that in the multitude of counsellors, there is safety. People who are open to corrections and feedback tend to escape many troubles, while those who think they know it all often stumble into avoidable problems.

Jesus is described as the wisdom and power of God in 1 Corinthians 1:24, yet when He came to earth, He sat under teachers, listening to them and asking them questions (Luke 2:46-47), and the Bible recorded that He grew in wisdom (Luke 2:52). He was also open to feedback, as we see in Matthew 16:13-16, where He asked His disciples to tell Him what other men, and even they themselves think of Him.

In today’s Bible reading, Apollos was already an established teacher of the word before he met Aquilla and Priscilla. When they heard him teach, however, they recognized that he needed further insight and knowledge of God’s word. As a result, they took him aside to expound the way of the Lord to him more perfectly. Submitting to their mentorship and feedback helped Apollos become a better teacher of the word, who mightily proved to the Jews through the Scriptures that Jesus is the Saviour.

Beyond submitting to mentors and being open to learning and growth, how a fellow receives and processes feedback will determine whether he or she will grow or remain stagnant. Beloved, if you want to grow in wisdom, you must be willing to humble yourself to listen and learn from others. You should also ask the Holy Spirit for guidance at all times. I pray you will continue to grow in wisdom and favour before God and man, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 5 August 2026 HYMN 24 – I Want To Be Like Jesus

1 I want to be like Jesus,
So lowly and so meek;
For no one marked an angry word,
That ever heard Him speak.

2 I want to be like Jesus,
So frequently in prayer;
Alone upon the mountain top,
He met His Father there.

3 I want to be like Jesus,
I never, never find
That He, though persecuted was
To anyone unkind.

4 I want to be like Jesus,
Engaged in doing good;
So that of me it may be said,
“He hath done what he could.”

5 I want to be like Jesus,
Who sweetly said to all,
“Let little children come to Me,”
I would obey the call.

6 But oh, I’m not like Jesus,
As anyone may see;
O gentle Savior, send Thy grace,
And make me like to thee.

Evanston Police Department Hosts National Night Out to Foster Community-Police Relationships

0

EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) — In a lively display of community spirit, National Night Out transformed Evanston into a hub of camaraderie and fun on Tuesday evening. The event, which unites families, neighbors, and law enforcement, featured a variety of activities and games, with a highlight being the opportunity to dunk Evanston’s own police chief.

This annual celebration, aimed at enhancing police-community relationships, effectively turned the vicinity of the Evanston Police Department into a vibrant block party where everyone could mingle, laugh, and enjoy the night.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

Among the evening’s most popular attractions was the dunk tank. Throngs of excited participants eagerly queued up, each hoping for the chance to send the good-natured police chief for a refreshing dip.

“I thought you liked me!” the police chief quipped with humor after his plunge, drawing laughter from the crowd and adding to the friendly atmosphere.

Families attending voiced their appreciation for the opportunity this event gave their children to interact with police officers and first responders in a relaxed setting, fostering positive relationships outside of the pressures of emergency situations.

“We’re having a really nice time. We got to see the chief dunked in the dunk tank, which was really fun,” attendee Adam Kahn said.

His daughter, Lizzie Kahn, also enjoyed the experience.

“I really like getting a lollipop and watching the Chief get dunked,” she said.

Attendee Thomani Klamm said the event’s block-party atmosphere felt right at home in Evanston.

“We love block parties. I feel like that’s quintessential Evanston summer is going to a block party,” Klamm said.

The community-building effort extended beyond Evanston. Chicago police held National Night Out events in all 22 police districts, with Interim Superintendent Fred Waller and Mayor Brandon Johnson in attendance. In Burr Ridge, children hopped aboard a miniature train as families gathered for an evening of food, fun and face-to-face time with first responders.

Klamm said events like National Night Out help children become familiar with police officers before they encounter them during an emergency.

“That’s so important to me as a mom, because if they see a familiar face or see someone they’ve known from a friendly activity, like, they’re more likely to respond,” she said.

Evanston police officers said relationship-building remains a key part of their work.

“We’re in the business of people like this is what we do is work with people, connect with people. Is it our job to understand people? So, to be able to have people at our house in this way is special and significant,” Sgt. Enjoli Daley said.

Sgt. Tosha Wilson said strong relationships between police and residents benefit the entire community.

“When you have great connection with your police department and the police department with the community, it’s an automatic win,” Wilson said.

Organizers said they hope the conversations and connections made during National Night Out continue long after the event ends, helping turn familiar uniforms into familiar faces.

South Carolina Senate Clash: GOP Candidates Debate Economy, Immigration, and Government’s Role

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A lively debate unfolded Tuesday night as four Republican contenders, all vying to step into the shoes of the late U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, took to a statewide televised stage to present their cases for leadership. Diverging on federal spending, foreign policy, trade, and the scope of government, the candidates found common ground on several conservative goals, yet unveiled distinct visions for the nation’s direction during the event hosted by News 2 and Nexstar stations.

The debate lineup in Mount Pleasant featured Congressmen Ralph Norman and Russell Fry, former Governor and Congressman Mark Sanford, and businessman Mark Lynch. Their appearances came as the countdown to the special Republican primary loomed, with the candidates striving to distinguish themselves ahead of next week’s voting.

Notably absent was Interim U.S. Senator Darline Graham, who was committed to pressing Senate business in Washington and thus unable to participate in the debate.

The dialogue frequently circled back to the economic challenges confronting South Carolinians, with candidates underscoring concerns over rising living expenses, the ballooning national debt, and the looming specter of economic instability.

When prompted on how they would carve a distinct path from Graham’s legacy, the candidates emphasized a recalibration towards domestic priorities and stricter fiscal management. Norman, Lynch, and Sanford took aim at Washington’s spending practices, highlighting the staggering nearly $39 trillion national debt as a pivotal issue. Meanwhile, Fry zeroed in on domestic economic pressures, vowing to address the burdens of housing costs and inflation that many families face.

The economy also fueled discussion over President Donald Trump’s tariff strategy. While all four candidates generally supported efforts to strengthen American manufacturing and improve trade relationships, Sanford offered the most cautionary note, warning South Carolina’s economy could be vulnerable because of its heavy reliance on foreign investment and international trade through facilities such as the South Carolina Port.

On Social Security, candidates agreed the program faces long-term challenges but differed on solutions. Sanford advocated for greater individual ownership through personal retirement-style accounts, while Fry pointed to fraud and mismanagement within the system. Norman and Lynch argued federal spending practices have contributed to the program’s financial strain.

Foreign policy emerged as another key dividing line.

Candidates generally agreed Iran should not obtain a nuclear weapon and voiced opposition to deploying U.S. ground troops. However, Sanford emphasized Congress’ constitutional role in authorizing military action, while Norman and Fry defended Trump’s recent actions targeting Iran’s nuclear program. Lynch argued America should reduce overseas involvement and focus resources on domestic concerns.

Immigration generated some of the night’s strongest consensus.

Norman and Fry endorsed mandatory use of the E-Verify employment verification system, saying it would help prevent undocumented immigrants from taking jobs intended for American workers. Sanford also backed the program, noting its origins during his time as governor. Lynch stopped short of fully endorsing a mandate but said employers should prioritize hiring American citizens.

Candidates also shared concerns about foreign ownership of American land and strategic assets. Fry and Norman specifically cited China as a national security threat, while Lynch declared “America is not for sale.” Sanford, while supporting foreign investment generally, argued the nation’s debt dependence on China poses a larger long-term risk.

As technology became part of the discussion, the candidates agreed artificial intelligence should be subject to some form of oversight. Fry, Norman and Sanford each called for guardrails to protect privacy and national security while maintaining U.S. competitiveness against China. Lynch broadened the conversation to privacy concerns involving surveillance technologies and data collection.

Another area of agreement came near the debate’s conclusion when candidates were asked whether they would support the eventual Republican nominee if they did not win the primary. All four pledged to back the GOP nominee in November.

The debate marked one of the final opportunities for Republican voters to compare the candidates side-by-side before voting begins.

Early voting starts Wednesday, Aug. 5, ahead of the Republican special primary scheduled for Aug. 11. The winner will advance to the November special election to fill the Senate seat left vacant following Graham’s death.

Revive Leg Strength Fast: Top 5 Chair Exercises for Seniors Over 60

No squat routine required: Discover 5 chair-based exercises to rejuvenate leg strength after age 60.

>

Having robust leg muscles can transform daily life and make common activities more accessible. Standing effortlessly, conquering stairs, striding with assurance, and breezing through household chores all become less taxing when your legs receive consistent workouts. A chair offers a simple yet effective way to strengthen those muscles, ensuring each movement is executed with precision and ease.

For those over 60, revitalizing leg muscles is most effective when incorporating varied movement patterns into your routine. While squats are undeniably beneficial, enhancing your regimen with chair-supported exercises such as lunges, knee extensions, hamstring curls, and exercises targeting the outer hips can offer a comprehensive leg strengthening session. This approach is both familiar and easy to follow, allowing you to build on foundational strength.

In my work with older adults, I’ve observed that visible progress, such as more confident repetitions from week to week, serves as a clear indicator of muscle strength improvement. Achieving a seamless sit-to-stand motion, executing a stable supported lunge, or reinforcing strength through band curls signifies that the muscles are effectively engaged. These incremental advancements quickly accumulate with a routine that’s consistently followed.

Integrate these five chair exercises into your routine two to four days each week. Ensure the chair is securely positioned, move with intention, and approach each repetition as preparation for stronger and more capable legs in your daily activities.

Chair Box Squat

Chair box squats train one of the most important lower-body patterns after 60: sitting down and standing back up with control. The chair gives you a clear target, which helps you own the bottom of the rep without guessing your depth. You’ll train your thighs and glutes while building confidence through a movement you use every day.

Muscles Trained: Quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand in front of a sturdy chair with your feet about shoulder-width apart.
  2. Brace your core and keep your chest lifted.
  3. Push your hips back toward the chair.
  4. Lower until your hips lightly touch the seat.
  5. Press through your whole feet to stand tall.
  6. Repeat with smooth control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between sets.

Best Variations: Higher-chair box squats, pause chair box squats, slow-tempo chair box squats.

Form Tip: Tap the chair lightly and stand back up without relaxing into the seat.

Chair-Supported Reverse Lunge

Chair-supported reverse lunges build single-leg strength while giving you something steady to hold. Stepping backward usually feels smoother on the knees than stepping forward, and the chair lets you focus on the working leg without losing balance. This exercise helps the hips, thighs, and glutes work together through a controlled range.

Muscles Trained: Quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, calves, core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall beside or behind a sturdy chair.
  2. Hold the chair lightly for balance.
  3. Step your right foot back into a split stance.
  4. Bend both knees and lower with control.
  5. Press through your front foot to return to standing.
  6. Complete all reps, then switch sides.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 6 to 10 reps per side. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between sets.

Best Variations: Short-range reverse lunges, assisted split squats, slow-tempo reverse lunges.

Form Tip: Keep your front heel planted and use the chair for balance, not to pull yourself up.

Seated Leg Extension

Seated leg extensions give your quadriceps focused work without needing a machine. Stronger quads help support the knee and make everyday movements like stairs and standing up feel more dependable. Add a brief pause at the top so the muscle has to own the position.

Muscles Trained: Quadriceps, hip flexors, core.

How to Do It:

  1. Sit tall on a sturdy chair with your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Hold the sides of the chair lightly.
  3. Brace your core and keep your chest lifted.
  4. Extend one knee until your leg is straight.
  5. Pause briefly and squeeze your thigh.
  6. Lower with control, then switch sides.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps per side. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between sets.

Best Variations: Short-range leg extensions, paused leg extensions, banded leg extensions.

Form Tip: Lift and lower slowly so your thigh does the work through the whole rep.

Seated Band Hamstring Curl

The hamstrings help bend the knee, support the hips, and add power to your stride. Seated band hamstring curls train them directly, which is useful because squats often leave the hamstrings underworked. Keep the pull smooth and control the band as your foot returns.

Muscles Trained: Hamstrings, calves, glutes.

How to Do It:

  1. Sit tall on a sturdy chair.
  2. Anchor a resistance band in front of you and loop it around one ankle.
  3. Start with your working leg slightly extended.
  4. Pull your heel back toward the chair.
  5. Pause briefly when you feel your hamstring tighten.
  6. Slowly extend your leg again before repeating.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 15 reps per side. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between sets.

Best Variations: Light-band hamstring curls, shorter-range curls, slow-tempo hamstring curls.

Form Tip: Keep your thigh still and move from the knee so the hamstring gets the work.
