A Gold Coast butcher says he has been warned that he could face a fine of up to $1,600 after a council inspector shut down his popular free weekly sausage sizzle.
Maaki Tyson, co-owner of Lakeside Quality Meats in Palm Beach, was told to stop the community barbecue because it was allegedly being held without the required permit.
“He said you haven’t got a permit for the barbecue, you haven’t got a permit for the roadside dining or the table,” Mr Tyson told news.com.au.
Mr Tyson said he and several customers were unhappy with the way the inspector delivered the message, describing the official as being “about as popular as a fart in a space suit”.
“I’m like, well hang on, it’s a free community event,” he said.
“I think he was doing his job, but the way he went about it was just wrong.”
“A lot of customers were pretty upset and probably vocalised that to him, but he hung around for about an hour or so until we’d finished cleaning everything up.”
Mr Tyson said the situation was made worse when he was told a fine of up to $1,600 could arrive in the mail. The weekly event costs the business about $35,000 a year to run.

“We just wanted to help our business but also help the community, so we get some homeless people that live in a park across the road,” he said.
“They come over on Saturday.”
“We get people after they’ve been to the local market; also kids after sport; it’s just become a fun thing to do.”
The latest intervention was not Mr Tyson’s first contact with the council. An inspector had previously raised concerns about signage at the Palm Beach butcher shop.
However, Mr Tyson said that earlier warning did not address the way the sausage sizzle was being run.
“We had a council officer come a couple of months ago and give us a warning, because we had a couple of signs out, but he said nothing at all about the barbecue or the seating or anything,” he said.
Although he was disappointed that the sausage sizzle had been stopped and that he may receive a fine, Mr Tyson said he was grateful for the support from members of the public and the media.
“If we can’t have it the way it is, we’ll work our way around it,” he said.

“We’re not going to take it lying down,” he said.
Social media users have rallied behind Mr Tyson, with some criticising the council’s decision to shut down the free community event.
‘How about the council worry about other stuff than what these amazing butchers are doing,’ one said.
‘I know there are laws but they are helping their community, surely this exempts them,’ a second said.
‘This defies belief, feeding the homeless is such a wonderful human thing to do,’ a third said.
A City of Gold Coast spokesman confirmed to news.com.au that council officers ‘attended a business in Philippine Parade Palm Beach on Saturday, October 17’.
‘The City will continue to work with the business to ensure all future events comply with relevant health and safety requirements,’ he said.

Elon Musk has built a business empire spanning electric vehicles, rockets, satellites and humanoid robots. Now, he may be considering an even more ambitious move: bringing much of that empire together under a single corporate structure.
A landmark merger between Tesla and SpaceX could be announced within weeks, according to Barclays analyst Dan Levy. If completed, the combination could create a company valued at roughly $3.5 trillion.
Such a deal would unite Musk’s electric-car manufacturer with his rocket and satellite business, producing one of the largest corporate mergers ever considered.
Levy believes the announcement could come before Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting, which is expected to be held by December 6.
His forecast is not evidence that a transaction has been agreed. Still, it has revived months of speculation over the increasingly interconnected companies controlled by Musk.
According to Levy, the prospect of a Tesla-SpaceX merger has increasingly emerged as the consensus view among investors and market analysts.
The potential benefits, he argues, would extend well beyond placing both businesses beneath one corporate umbrella.
Artificial intelligence could be the central prize. Tesla is developing AI systems for autonomous vehicles and its Optimus humanoid robot, while SpaceX is also expanding its ambitions in the field.

Put simply, a merger could pair Tesla’s physical products and manufacturing capabilities with SpaceX’s growing software and artificial-intelligence infrastructure.
The two companies are already moving closer together on several fronts.
Tesla and SpaceX are collaborating on Terafab, a massive semiconductor plant planned for Texas. The facility is intended to manufacture chips for Tesla’s electric vehicles and robots, as well as SpaceX’s satellites.
Musk has previously said the companies plan to build and run the facility themselves instead of outsourcing the work to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.
The businesses already have commercial ties. SpaceX purchases Tesla vehicles and energy-storage products, while Tesla uses SpaceX’s Starlink technology in some of its projects.
Tesla has also invested $2 billion in Musk’s artificial-intelligence company, xAI. That company was later acquired by SpaceX, adding another layer to the increasingly complex network of businesses linked to the billionaire.
Musk has helped keep the merger speculation alive, although securities regulations have generally limited how directly he can address the possibility.
Last month, however, he gave a suggestive answer when asked why Tesla and SpaceX remain separate, highlighting the extensive cooperation already taking place between the companies.

For investors, the timing is particularly intriguing because Tesla is due to report its third-quarter results on October 21.
A deal announced before its annual meeting could potentially allow shareholders to vote on the proposed combination at the gathering.
But getting there would be anything but straightforward, with both companies facing shareholder and regulatory hurdles before a merger could become reality.
Barclays has warned that if an announcement slips into late October or early November, there could be less time to secure approval as part of the annual meeting process.
The financial mechanics could be just as eye-catching, with analysts reportedly expecting an all-stock transaction that could see SpaceX effectively acquire Tesla.
One scenario discussed by Barclays would give Tesla shareholders around 0.7 SpaceX shares for every Tesla share, while Musk could ultimately hold roughly 37 percent of the combined company and around 56 percent of its voting power.
That possibility has sent retail investors on Reddit into a frenzy, with commenters debating what the deal could mean for Tesla’s notoriously volatile stock.
One investor asked what would happen to a Tesla short position if the companies merged, while others predicted that Tesla shares could fall if a deal were announced.
Some commenters questioned whether the merger would be a way of combining two hugely valued businesses, while others argued that Musk’s control of the resulting company would be the biggest prize.
The Reddit discussion is, of course, speculation but it shows just how much attention the idea is attracting.
Tesla shares fell 1.3 percent on Thursday, while SpaceX shares dropped 2.3 percent as investors continued to retreat from some AI-related stocks.
It is a remarkable journey for two companies that began life with very different ambitions.
Tesla was founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning as an ambitious Silicon Valley electric-car start-up, with Musk joining as a major investor in 2004 before taking over as CEO in 2008.
SpaceX, meanwhile, came first in 2002, when Musk founded the rocket company with an even bigger goal: making space travel cheaper and more accessible, and ultimately turning humanity into a multiplanetary species.
Tesla is currently worth roughly $1.5 trillion, while SpaceX has been valued at around $2 trillion. A merger could therefore create a corporate behemoth worth more than $3.5 trillion.
For now, however, Musk’s empire remains split across separate companies, and no merger has been officially confirmed.
But with Tesla, SpaceX, AI, robots, satellites and a colossal Texas chip factory increasingly sharing the same orbit, investors may soon discover whether Musk’s sprawling empire really is ready to become one giant machine.
Investigators searching a Philadelphia house linked to seven missing women have uncovered a concealed safe beneath the floorboards and bones in the backyard, according to a report.
Philadelphia police and the FBI made the disturbing discoveries while examining the Olney property once owned by pornographer Raymond “R.C.” Horsch and his son, Eugene. Detectives have since connected the home to seven missing or unidentified women, NBC10 reported.
Law enforcement sources told the outlet that teams found the hidden safe while tearing into walls and floors inside the house. It remains unclear what, if anything, was recovered from the safe.
Investigators also discovered bones in the backyard Thursday, leading them to call in the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office, according to the sources.
Officials are still determining whether the remains are human or animal, the local station reported.
Crews have been gathering soil samples and are expected to begin examining the front of the Chew Avenue property.
“Right now, it looks like soil samples. We saw them going in and taking some samples. And what they’ll do is, they’ll do it in different places, and they’ll do it at different depths to see if there’s any chemicals in there,” Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant who is not involved in the case, told the outlet.
Eugene Horsch remains in custody on firearms charges as authorities investigate what may have happened to the missing and unidentified women.
Since his arrest in June, investigators have reported finding several other disturbing items inside the property, including alleged snuff films featuring R.C. and multiple missing women, vats containing unidentified chemicals, and writings that referenced serial killers.
In one alleged “snuff movie,” R.C.—an erotic photographer and convicted meth producer—appeared to strangle a woman. He is believed to have lured vulnerable women struggling with drug addiction to his home.
Authorities are also reviewing more than one million images recovered from the property.
Police said they found images and video of two women, Maribel Frieses and Gabrielle Amarando, that appeared to show them dead. Frieses was last seen in 2018, while Amarando was last seen in 2012.
Authorities have also identified Blair Tonzelli, who disappeared in 2023, and Amy McHale, Horsch’s former wife, who was last seen in 2016.
McHale’s family said her last known location was the house where Horsch and his son lived.
R.C. died last year and is believed to be among five urns investigators recovered from the deteriorating brick home.

Florida has secured a state arrest warrant for former Cuban leader Raúl Castro on a no-bond charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in connection with the 1996 Brothers to the Rescue shootdown, according to a warrant obtained by News Media.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, whose office reopened the state investigation after he took office, is expected to unveil the warrant with Gov. Ron DeSantis during a Monday morning press conference.
Issued in Miami-Dade County, the no-bond warrant orders law enforcement to arrest Castro immediately. It states that a judge found probable cause to believe he conspired to commit first-degree murder in the deaths of four men aboard unarmed civilian aircraft.
The warrant opens a new legal front in the longstanding effort to hold Castro accountable for the Feb. 24, 1996, attack, an incident that continues to resonate throughout South Florida’s Cuban-American community. Castro is also facing a separate federal prosecution related to the shootdown.

“The investigation revealed evidence of a conspiracy to kill persons aboard BTTR aircraft. The deaths of Carlos Costa, Pablo Morales, Mario de la Peña, and Armando Alejandre Jr. were the object of that conspiracy,” the warrant states.
Investigators allege that the 1996 plan by the Castro regime’s foreign intelligence service to shoot down Brothers to the Rescue aircraft and kill those aboard moved through the chain of command. According to the warrant, Raúl Castro and his brother, former Cuban leader Fidel Castro, were the ultimate decision-makers.

In a recorded statement made months after the incident, Raúl Castro, now 95, described orders he said he had given to senior military officials before the shootdown, according to the warrant. “They have violated the airspace, the waters of the Republic. I made it clear that this had to be decentralized if we wanted it to do its job, and five generals were given the authority. I used to say: Try to shoot them down over our territory. But they would come into Havana and leave,” he said.
“Of course, with a missile shot like that, plane against plane, what comes down is a ball of fire, and it is going to fall on top of the city. So I said: Fine, shoot them down at sea when they show up, and those who have the authority are not to consult anyone,” he added.

Based in Miami, Brothers to the Rescue operated unarmed civilian aircraft to search for Cuban migrants who were stranded or missing at sea. By the mid-1990s, the organization had also taken on an anti-Castro political role, including dropping pro-democracy leaflets over Cuba.
The Cuban government has denounced the U.S. prosecution of Castro, arguing that Brothers to the Rescue repeatedly entered Cuban airspace and that Cuba was acting to defend its sovereignty.
The warrant states that Florida authorities will seek Raúl Castro’s full extradition if he is arrested outside the state. It authorizes officials to pursue his return to Florida to face the felony charge if he is taken into custody in another U.S. jurisdiction.

A University of California, Santa Barbara professor says she was denied nearly $3 million in pay over time while a male colleague with less experience received substantially higher compensation.
Edwina Barvosa, a Harvard-trained scholar of applied social and political theory who joined UCSB in 1998, alleges that her salary was tens of thousands of dollars below that of a male professor hired eight years after her.
Her allegations, which refer to the male colleague under the pseudonym “Professor Y,” are detailed in a lawsuit filed in Santa Barbara County Superior Court in June.
According to the complaint, Professor Y received $232,050 in total compensation in 2023, while Barvosa was paid $150,317.
The difference increased the following year. His compensation reached $251,700, compared with Barvosa’s $157,000—a gap of $94,700.
Barvosa claims the university underpaid her by at least $991,478 in base salary. Including interest, the lawsuit places the total at roughly $2.96 million.
Her attorneys say the financial consequences may be far greater, estimating that lost pension benefits could push her total losses above $30 million over the next 39 years.
The complaint says Barvosa and Professor Y have comparable personal backgrounds: both were raised in working-class families and identify as Mexican American.

Barvosa maintains that she has roughly 10 more years of professional experience than her male counterpart.
The complaint states that Dr. Barvosa has endured—and continues to endure—significant damage because of what it describes as unlawful employment practices.
The alleged harm includes lost income and career opportunities, emotional suffering and serious physical injuries.
Named in the case are the University of California Board of Regents, UC President James Milliken, UCSB Chancellor Dennis Assanis, Executive Dean Pierre Wiltzius and Social Sciences Dean Charles Hale.
Barvosa accuses the defendants of violating California’s Equal Pay Act, along with engaging in discrimination, harassment, whistleblower retaliation and the intentional infliction of emotional distress.
She is seeking back pay, compensatory and punitive damages, as well as a court order barring the university from asserting ownership over her academic work.
The lawsuit says Barvosa brought the alleged pay disparity to the attention of the executive dean of the College of Letters and Science. He reportedly acknowledged that she was underpaid but said his ability to address the matter was limited.
She further alleges that he declined to authorize even a $200 salary increase and refused to advance her to the rank of full professor.
Barvosa says she lost at least $991,478 in base salary, a figure that rises to approximately $2.96 million with interest. Her attorneys estimate the total impact could surpass $30 million after projected pension losses over 39 years
He allegedly argued that her book had not been fully accepted by Cambridge University Press and that she had not spent four years at her current career step.
But Barvosa’s lawyers claim the same dean had approved Professor Y’s promotion six to 12 months earlier, despite his book also being unfinished.
The complaint describes the alleged double standard as gender discrimination.
Barvosa reportedly raised her concerns in writing in December 2020. On June 14, 2021, she claims she received an unjustified reprimand and was passed over for a prestigious endowed chair. The position allegedly went to Professor Y.
The lawsuit also describes a hostile workplace. An associate dean allegedly ‘aggressively lunged across the faculty meeting table’ while pressuring Barvosa to vote for a salary increase for the dean.
The university’s research office also allegedly blocked a discrimination study she was conducting with the University of Texas, accusing her of plagiarism. Her sabbatical was reportedly delayed over a research report she had submitted years earlier.
The complaint further alleges tensions between white and minority faculty members. It describes one professor who insisted on the right to routinely use the N-word despite complaints from graduate students.
Barvosa claims the dispute took a serious toll on her health. She alleges she suffered a partial finger loss and a permanent knee injury.
She also claims years of workplace stress contributed to a heart attack on December 9, 2024, despite having no other risk factors.
Her department reportedly voted unanimously, 9-0, to advance her this year. However, the university’s top personnel committee allegedly recommended no salary increase.
The lawsuit comes as UCSB faces scrutiny over a separate discrimination controversy involving its Alpha Phi sorority chapter.
Members accused a volunteer recruitment adviser from the sorority’s national organization of sidelining women of color during autumn recruitment. They alleged that a diverse group of prospective recruits disappeared from the candidate pool, while current sisters of color were left off recruitment schedules.
The adviser was subsequently removed. The university said discrimination complaints are reviewed by its Office of Discrimination and Harassment Prevention but did not confirm whether it was investigating the specific allegations.
The allegations have not been established in court. The Daily Mail has reached out to UCSB for comment.
The parents of five-year-old Archie Ranger, who was found dead in the NSW Northern Rivers after allegedly being restrained inside a sleeping bag with duct tape, can now be publicly identified.
Police are investigating Archie’s suspicious death at the family’s property on Carrs Island, north-west of Grafton, on October 12.
Investigators allegedly found Archie and his two siblings secured inside sleeping bags, with tape reportedly placed over their eyes while they slept.
Archie, who was reportedly living with a disability and had been born with an eye misalignment, was found unresponsive and could not be revived.
Police allege duct tape had been wrapped around Archie’s head and were reportedly told the measure was intended to ‘assist him sleeping’.
Archie’s father, Neil Ranger, and his stepmother, Stephanie Luhrmann, live locally and both work for Big River Glass. Ms Luhrmann is understood to be employed as an office manager.
The couple were at home when police arrived and have since spoken with investigators about the circumstances surrounding Archie’s death.
Any potential charges will be assessed after a post-mortem examination establishes how the young boy died.

The Daily Mail understands Ms Luhrmann and Mr Ranger are receiving medical treatment and undergoing mental health assessments while Archie’s post-mortem examination is carried out.
Ms Luhrmann is also believed to be pregnant.
Archie’s biological mother is understood to be ‘not doing well’, while his brother and stepsister have been placed with other relatives.
Police are also understood to have visited the property in 2025, when concerns about the children’s circumstances were raised with officials from the NSW Department of Communities and Justice.
Despite those concerns, Ms Luhrmann regularly shared social media posts portraying a happy semi-rural lifestyle in the Clarence River region with Mr Ranger and their blended family.
TikTok footage reportedly showed the children dancing in the kitchen, playing outside and joining the family on boating and beach outings.
Ms Luhrmann, whose parents live in Grafton, previously played rugby for the local Redmen club and has also been in relationships with women.
A neighbour told the Daily Mail that Ms Luhrmann and Mr Ranger had lived at the Carrs Island Road property for ‘just over a year’, but generally ‘kept to themselves’.

Property records show the address, which sits along the banks of the Clarence River, is leased at $400 per week.
Calls to Ms Luhrmann and her parents, Kenneth and Jeanette, who live locally, went unanswered on Monday morning.
In April, Ms Luhrmann launched a business named Luhrmann & Co Farm, posting an AI-generated image of a man, woman, two boys and a girl to Facebook.
Last month, she updated the cover photo with an AI image showing the woman to be pregnant.
The page, which promotes a hobby farm featuring chickens and cats, has just 47 followers.
‘Life on our little farm is busy and full of love, with early mornings, muddy boots and happy chaos,’ the page’s description reads.
‘Raising my three kids alongside our chickens, every day brings laughter, lessons and memories.’
Ms Luhrmann also appeared to be attempting a career as a cooking influencer, frequently sharing posts about what she was making for her kids’ dinners.

She hinted at troubles in her life, posting in April: ‘Sometimes I sit with all the choices I’ve made and wish I had been the person I am now, back then.

Grafton locals are calling for the community to hold a memorial vigil for Archie, with one person suggesting a march around Carrs Island in his honour.
Mr Ranger’s Facebook page has been flooded with furious comments over the loss of his son.
Homicide Squad and Child Abuse Squad detectives have joined local investigators at the crime scene as part of Strike Force Milona to oversee inquiries into how the boy died.
A NSW Police spokesperson told the Daily Mail that emergency services were called to the Grafton home at about 6.40am on October 12 following reports a boy had been found unresponsive.
‘Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District attended the scene and commenced CPR on the boy,’ the spokesperson said.

A police spokesperson told the Daily Mail on Monday morning that there was ‘no update to provide at this stage’.

During an interview with Decider at its Manhattan studio, Santos said that moment marks only the beginning of a deeply “introspective” chapter for her character.
“It’s not until she’s at work in Episode 3 that she starts seeing the impact of the Cleggs, the kidnapping and Garrett,” Santos explained. “She’s endured so much trauma in such a short period that she has no choice but to finally process it. DECIDER: The Sheridan universe has become a major success, but Marshals took a chance as the first post-Yellowstone spinoff. The show killed Monica immediately and introduced Kayce to an entirely new family, yet the ratings were enormous—and Dre quickly became a fan favorite. How did you respond to that reception?
ASH SANTOS: You always hope people will connect with a show, but after spending enough time in this business, you know there are no guarantees. It was nerve-racking because Yellowstone was a drama, while Marshals is more action-driven and technically a procedural. We didn’t realize how much viewers wanted this kind of story in that world. People tell us, “This is our favorite show. We watch it together on Sunday nights, and if the kids walk into the room, we don’t have to change the channel.” It has a little bit of everything. The response has been surreal.

Only three episodes into Season 2, the series is already exploring these characters more deeply. When Dre freezes outside that basement, it’s clear she’s still carrying the trauma from Season 1. How has her experience with the Cleggs changed her?
I don’t think she understood the full impact until Season 2. Garrett dies, there’s everything happening with Tate, she’s helping Kayce, and she has to decide whether to leave or stay. Once the immediate chaos fades, she finally starts to recognize what all of it has done to her. At work in Episode 3, she begins feeling the effects of the Cleggs, the kidnapping and Garrett’s death all at once. She has been through an overwhelming amount of trauma, and now she has to confront it. She doesn’t feel safe in her own home, even sleeping there alone, so she secretly sleeps in the Marshals’ team room and showers at the office. No one knows. It’s incredibly sad. When Spencer told me, I said, “Wait, what? Oh my gosh, that’s heartbreaking.” This season is very introspective for her.
Belle goes apartment hunting with Andrea and confronts her about sleeping at the office, investigating her father’s death and freezing outside the basement. How will their friendship evolve in Season 2? What do they provide each other in such a male-dominated profession?
Their friendship is unusual in the best way. Very early in Season 1, they realized they could rely on and trust one another. Dre knows Belle will always stand behind her, and Belle knows Dre will do the same. It feels almost sisterly. Belle is also the person who recognizes what Dre is experiencing and how much she’s struggling. She becomes protective of her in a really beautiful way. I love seeing women on-screen support each other with warmth instead of rivalry, because that has been my experience with women throughout my life. It has never felt catty to me; it has been caring and uplifting. We’re very fortunate to have that kind of dynamic between these characters.

Dre has begun investigating her father’s murder. What is she hoping to find, and what can you say about the role that mystery will play in her Season 2 storyline?
At one point, someone who knew the precinct where her father worked approaches her and reveals information she had never heard before. As Dre investigates, she discovers an entire part of his life that was hidden from her. In many ways, it appears he was living a double life. The search eventually takes her to New York, where she feels compelled to find answers and understand this buried piece of her past. I think fans will be excited to see Dre return to New York.
I’m looking forward to those episodes. Your father also worked in law enforcement. Has playing Dre brought you closer to him or helped you understand the character in a new way?
Yes. My father was with the NYPD and spent most of his career as an SVU detective in Manhattan. For more than 25 years, he fought for justice for survivors of sexual assault. After retiring, he trained detectives around the country in how to interview victims, because sexual assault cannot be handled like any other crime. The brain processes that trauma differently. He devoted so much of his life to helping people through the justice system that, when I auditioned, I immediately thought, “Oh my God, Dre and I are so similar.” Her father and mine had the same profession, and she’s from the Bronx. Playing her gives me an enormous amount of personal material to draw from. We were filming a scene on the water recently, looking at the Manhattan skyline from Dumbo beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, and it was incredibly beautiful and emotional. Afterward, Luke [Grimes]’s assistant asked whether crying was difficult for me. I said, “With this? No.” There are moments when I feel as though parts of me simply are her. The distance between us doesn’t really exist. It’s fascinating.
Speaking of emotional moments, I nearly gave a standing ovation in my living room when Kayce scheduled therapy for Tate, breaking the Dutton men’s long-running pattern of burying their trauma. What will therapy—or an emotional outlet—look like for Dre this season? Will she share a particularly vulnerable moment with someone?
She eventually reaches a deeply vulnerable point where she allows herself to cry and truly grieve her father. We never saw her cry at his funeral, so this becomes the first time she releases all of that emotion. It happens in the arms of someone specific, and it’s a beautiful scene because she feels safe and understood enough to let that person in. I think the audience will really respond to it.

Episode 3 concludes with Cal beginning chemotherapy. He remains determined and hesitant to accept help. As the season unfolds, how will his cancer affect the team—and Andrea in particular?
It reaches everyone differently. Cal turns to Andrea, even though he feels uneasy about placing her in such an intense leadership role. Gifford gives him a bit of a push in that direction. Andrea is hesitant as well because she doesn’t want the team to know how much she’s struggling. If this had happened during Season 1, she probably would have immediately said, “Yes, please,” convinced she could handle everything. But in Season 2, with the situation involving her father and everything else on her shoulders, the timing feels terrible. The only person she confides in is Kayce, and that creates a major complication in their relationship. Everyone is affected in a different way, which is what makes the writing so compelling. It’s like watching all these chess pieces move, and it’s incredibly juicy.
Fans have been begging for a crossover between Marshals and Dutton Ranch. I’m curious, have you seen the show at all? And if a crossover does happen, would you want Dre and the team to get in on that too? I feel like we have to have Beth meet the team — Kayce’s found family.
I know. How iconic would that be? It’s funny, I have seen Dutton Ranch, and I think the world of Kelly and Cole as actors. Beth and Rip are some of, at this point, the most iconic characters in television. I think they’re written so wonderfully, and there’s so much depth in their partnership on screen that people really resonate with. So hopefully. It would be cool. I agree with the fans. It’s hard not to want that, especially because Kayce was so close with Beth, and they had such an interesting brother-sister dynamic. I’m like, “Who wouldn’t want to see that?”
Andrea Cruz is such a physically and mentally strong, capable character, but I love that she never shies away from vulnerability. What do you hope that young girls who are watching Marshals take away from Dre and seeing you in this role?
That’s such a beautiful question. When I was a little girl, I would have loved seeing a woman like this on screen. I think little girls today, though, what I’m finding and what I am learning through the eyes of my own daughter, they’re so much stronger than we give them credit for. We really come to the world ready, capable, and bold, and it’s the world that tells us that we aren’t those things. But my daughter is the most ambitious, hard-working person I know, and she’s so confident. So I hope that if a little girl watches me in Marshals, she doesn’t feel like she’s learning something. I hope she just recognizes herself in that and almost thinks, “Oh, that’s how I am already. Great. I’m glad that women are like that now as well.” Do you know what I mean? We really come into the world so strong.

Before we wrap, any final Season 2 teases? What are you most excited for the audience to see?
I’m really excited for the audience to see Andrea reconciling with her past and growing more into herself. She really grows up in Season 2 in a beautiful way, so I’m excited for fans to see that.

A magnificent Nantucket estate featuring an underground tunnel, concealed speakeasy and expansive ocean views is on the market for $45 million—an asking price that could set a new record for the most expensive home ever sold in Massachusetts.
The newly constructed residence covers almost 13,500 square feet and includes nine bedrooms, a swimming pool, a home theater, gym and billiards room.
Set on Cliff Road in one of Nantucket’s most prestigious areas, the three-story property was completed this year and is being sold fully furnished.
Among its standout features is a private underground passageway linking the main house with a separate guest residence.
The estate further includes a hidden speakeasy, a two-car garage with a studio and a rooftop walkway known as a widow’s walk, where residents can take in sweeping views of Nantucket Sound.
Designed in a classic New England style, the home occupies a 0.62-acre parcel and features an unpainted cedar-shingle façade, dormer windows and two barn-inspired rooflines that frame the entryway.
The interior offers a chef’s kitchen centered around a generous island, a formal dining area, spacious living rooms and bedrooms planned for large family stays.
Its Cliff neighborhood location places the property close to Nantucket’s north shore beaches, as well as the restaurants and shops of downtown.
This Nantucket mansion, complete with an underground tunnel, hidden speakeasy and ocean views, is listed for $45 million and could break Massachusetts’ residential sales record.

“The Cliff area is one of Nantucket’s most sought-after neighborhoods, with beautiful homes, proximity to north shore beaches and easy access to downtown’s restaurants and shops,” said listing agent Bobby Sabelhaus of Great Point Properties.
Botticelli & Pohl Architects designed the mansion, Hehir Group Custom Builders handled construction and SLC Interiors created the interiors.
“33 Cliff was designed by Botticelli & Pohl Architects, built by Hehir Group Custom Builders, with interior design by SLC Interiors. The attention to detail throughout the property reflects that collaboration,” Sabelhaus told the Daily Mail.
Amenities include the swimming pool, hidden speakeasy and guest house, which is connected to the main residence through the underground tunnel.
“What makes it special is how much there is to enjoy right at home, from the pool and hidden speakeasy to the guest house connected by an underground tunnel,” Sabelhaus said.
“Views of Nantucket Sound add to the setting, with the roof walk offering an even broader perspective over the water and harbor.”
According to the listing agent, the property was created for entertaining and extended family gatherings, providing ample space for guests while keeping downtown Nantucket within easy reach.
“But what I picture most is family and friends filling the house, spending the day by the pool, then walking into town for dinner,” Sabelhaus said. “It’s an exceptional property that’s really designed to be lived in and enjoyed.”

The owners bought the property through a limited liability company for $13.95 million in 2024 from the estate of late retail mogul Roger Horchow.
The previous house, built in 1982, was demolished to make way for the new estate. The owners had initially planned to live there but fell in love with another part of the island, according to Sabelhaus.
If the mansion sells anywhere near its asking price, it could overtake the current Massachusetts residential sale record of $43 million, set by a 31.5-acre estate on Martha’s Vineyard sold by Boston tech entrepreneur Michael Bronner in September.
It would also surpass the $42 million Nantucket record set in 2023 when Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy bought a waterfront property on the island.
Despite its price tag, the mansion is not directly on the waterfront. However, its location in the Cliff neighborhood and views of Nantucket Sound are major selling points.
The home is being marketed to buyers seeking a second residence, including families who want room for children and grandchildren while remaining within walking distance of Nantucket’s downtown restaurants and shops.
Potential buyers are largely coming from the New York, Boston and Connecticut markets, Sabelhaus has said.
For $45 million, the next owner will get a newly completed luxury compound with room for extended family, resort-style amenities and a private tunnel – all on one of the most exclusive islands on the East Coast.
A Pennsylvania mother allegedly killed her husband and their young son at Great Wolf Lodge before attempting to take her own life. As emergency responders arrived, she reportedly told them, “I was supposed to have my happy family.”
Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, faces two counts of criminal homicide, according to court records reviewed by Oxygen. The records do not show whether she has entered a plea or identify an attorney representing her.
The family arrived at the Pocono Mountains resort on Sept. 21 and later extended their stay on Oct. 5. They were scheduled to check out Oct. 13, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Oxygen.
Authorities discovered the victims inside the family’s guest room after Harrison called 911 on Oct. 12 and said she needed “help dying.”
During the call, Harrison allegedly said, “I’m too weak to stab my neck,” adding that she could not find a vein. “I need police,” she told the dispatcher, according to the affidavit.
Harrison told the operator she had knives but could not end her life. “I don’t want to be here anymore,” she reportedly said.
She also said her husband and son were “already gone in the bed in the living room.” “They’re already gone. I’m sorry,” Harrison added, according to the affidavit.
Officers encountered Harrison in the doorway of room 2030. She was bleeding from her left wrist and had puncture wounds on her neck, while telling police she wanted to be with her husband and child.
Charles Harrison was found dead on top of a mattress on the floor. He had suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest, and investigators found a plastic container beside him containing a “brownish red” liquid believed to be blood, the affidavit stated.
The couple’s 3-year-old son was found on a separate mattress with an apparent stab wound to his chest.
Investigators also found several medication bottles in the room. In the bathroom, a large butcher knife was on the floor near a smaller knife on the sink. Both knives had teal-green handles, and resort staff told authorities they were not the type supplied by Great Wolf Lodge. A similar liquid believed to be blood was found in the bathroom trash can.
Metallica Rose Harrison Transported to Hospital After Alleged Great Wolf Lodge Killings
Harrison made several disturbing statements while being taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
“I f – – – -d up, I f – – – -d up,” she told emergency responders, according to the affidavit. “I just needed energy and strength.”
She asked how deep the vein in her wrist was so she would know for “next time,” investigators said. Harrison also reportedly said she had taken blood thinners and expressed frustration that her blood was clotting.
“Every day, I work so hard,” she allegedly said. “To be the best person, the best mother, the best wife. It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child.”
At the hospital, Harrison told detectives she was “suicidal, not stupid,” but declined to answer further questions.
Harrison remains held without bail at Monroe County Prison.
Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso described the case as “a violent domestic tragedy” during an Oct. 13 news conference. “This is not a threat to public safety…the violence, although extreme, all took place within the confines of that room,” he said.
Mancuso said postmortem examinations had not yet been conducted.
Great Wolf Lodge is cooperating with investigators, spokesperson Jason Lasecki said.
“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred yesterday in a guest room at our resort in the Pocono Mountains,” Lasecki told Oxygen in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected.”
Lasecki added, “Out of respect for those involved, as well as the integrity of the investigation, we ask that any further information regarding this matter be directed to the Pocono Township Police Department.”
Metallica is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing Oct. 21.

APOPKA, Fla – Apopka police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 65-year-old Robert Lee Britten, who was last seen in Apopka on Oct. 13 and is considered missing and endangered.
Britten is described as a Black man who stands approximately 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs about 150 pounds, according to police.
He has short, buzzed black hair with some gray.
Police said Britten was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.
He walks with a noticeable limp and may use a cane, walker or scooter.
Anyone who knows where Britten may be should call 911 in an emergency. Information can also be reported to the Apopka Police Department’s nonemergency line at 407-703-1757.
Authorities are urging residents to share the information and report anything that could help bring Britten home safely.
