Houthis Escalate Tensions with Saudi Blockade Amid US-Iran Rivalry

0

In a bold overnight declaration, Yemen’s Houthi rebels announced a maritime embargo against Saudi Arabia, escalating the tension in the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran. This move poses a significant threat to Saudi Arabia, the world’s leading oil exporter, particularly concerning its ability to bypass the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.

The Houthi group, backed by Iran, has yet to reveal the specific methods for enforcing the embargo. Their announcement coincided with Iran’s declaration of returning to a “full-scale war” with the United States, as ongoing skirmishes between Washington and Tehran over control of the strait continue.

Tensions flared last week when Saudi Arabia and the Houthis exchanged fire for the first time in several years, threatening to unravel a ceasefire established in 2022 that has miraculously endured even after its official expiration.

This recent exchange of hostilities was triggered when an Iranian aircraft attempted to land in Sanaa, directly challenging Saudi Arabia’s air supremacy over Yemen.

Should the Houthi blockade materialize, it could severely disrupt Saudi Arabia’s economic stability by hindering access to its vital Red Sea ports. With renewed conflict potentially limiting the vital oil passage through the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia may face significant economic repercussions.

The blockade is also expected to hurt global markets that rely on Saudi Arabia — which produces over 10 million barrels of crude per day — for energy imports.

The rebels declared “a maritime embargo against the criminal Saudi enemy, based on the equation of ‘an eye for an eye’, effective immediately”, military spokesman Yahya Saree said.

Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN secretary-general, warned that the threat from the Houthis risked an “even wider” regional conflict.

How could the blockade impact global economy?

The Houthis have previously tried to cut off shipping through the Red Sea, leveraging the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a chokepoint at its southern tip which vessels must navigate when travelling to or from the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean.

Security expert Andreas Krieg said Tehran could ask the Houthis to “prepare the Bab al-Mandab front and may provide the strategic trigger, particularly if US pressure is degrading Iran’s position around Hormuz” even if the rebels retain “considerable autonomy”.

The full closure of the Bab al-Mandab strait would reduce global oil supply by 7 per cent as it would leave most of Saudi oil exports unable to leave the region. The disruption would add to the huge cut to oil flows from the US-Iran war, which has already reduced shipments by 10 per cent of global supply.

“A simultaneous crisis at Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab would produce a much larger shock than either blockade alone,” the King’s College London academic told Agence France-Presse.

“Hormuz disruption constrains Gulf oil and liquefied natural gas exports, while Bab al-Mandab disruption interrupts the principal maritime connection between Asia, the Gulf and Europe.”

The Houthis previously launched attacks on ships transiting the waterway beginning in November 2023 during the Gaza war, forcing vessels to take lengthy detours around Africa instead of travelling directly from Europe.

Yemen shares a border and coastline with Saudi Arabia, whose Red Sea port of Yanbu has been crucial for exporting oil, bypassing Iran’s effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz during its war with the US.

The conflict sowed panic on global energy markets until a ceasefire last month — which has since collapsed.

“Even if no ships are attacked, the announcement alone is likely to disrupt shipping and create uncertainty for Saudi ports,” said Mohammed al-Basha, of the US-based risk advisory Basha Report.

“Whether the Houthis move from threats to direct action remains the critical issue.”

Krieg said the blockade “would hurt Saudi Arabia very seriously”, explaining that much of Saudi Arabia’s oil was sold to Asian markets.

With the Bab al-Mandab closed, “those vessels would have to sail north through Suez, cross the Mediterranean, pass Gibraltar and travel around Africa before reaching Asia”.

In a statement, the Saudi foreign ministry condemned statements by the Houthis accusing Riyadh of “besieging” the Yemeni people.

The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said it will respond to the Houthis’ threats to ships with “force”.

The coalition said in a statement that it began implementing safety measures for its ships passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Saree said the announced closure of Bab al-Mandab was in response to Saudi Arabia’s blockade of Houthi “ports and airports” and the targeting of Sanaa airport, adding they would respond to “the blockade with a blockade”.

Last week, the Houthis fired missiles at a Saudi airport in Abha after the airport in the rebel-held capital Sanaa was struck.

The Houthis blamed Riyadh for the strike, which the Aden-based Yemeni government said was launched to prevent an Iranian plane from landing.

For over a decade, aircraft entering Yemeni airspace have needed prior clearance from the Saudi-led coalition that backs the government and says it enforces the restriction at its request.

The Houthis have been at war with Yemen’s government since 2014, in a conflict that has killed hundreds of thousands of people.

Diplomatic push to restore US-Iran ceasefire

A senior Iranian official told Reuters news agency on Monday that Tehran had received a proposal from mediators for a 10-day ceasefire in efforts to salvage the interim deal, intended to pave the way to a lasting agreement to end the war that began on 28 February with US-Israeli attacks on Iran.

But they didn’t give any details on the putative ceasefire discussions.

Two Pakistani government sources said separately that Iranian interior minister Eskandar Momeni had asked Pakistan to resume its mediation role in the conflict. He later arrived in Islamabad for further talks.

The diplomatic push followed another night of US strikes on Iranian cities and attacks by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on US military assets across the region.

US President Donald Trump, under mounting political pressure at home over rising gasoline prices since the war began and Iran effectively closed the vital Strait of Hormuz, defended the latest strikes on Iran as “honouring” the deaths of up to three American service members in recent Iranian attacks.

“Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over! This directive has been passed on to Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Daniel Caine, and every Leader in the Military,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Nicaragua’s Ortega Ends Elections, Silences Opposition Forever

0

In a decisive move, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega announced that the country would cease holding elections, effectively eliminating any avenues for opposition parties to contest his and his co-governing wife, Rosario Murillo’s, rule.

Ortega, Nicaragua’s longest-serving leader, initially came to power in the 1980s and has held office since 2007. His current term is set to end in 2027.

“There will be no more elections for them to attempt to take over the government and seize control,” declared Ortega.

Ortega’s statement came on Sunday during a speech marking the anniversary of the 1979 Sandinista revolution, a historic event in which he played a pivotal role in toppling the U.S.-backed dictatorship of Anastasio Somoza.

The declaration appeared to eliminate the possibility of a future electoral challenge as Ortega and Murillo continue consolidating control over the country’s political institutions.

“The days when parties backed by the Yankees (United States) and the Somocistas would return to power are over — never again,” Ortega declared.

News Media has reached out to the U.S. State Department for comment.

The Trump administration has described the Ortega-Murillo government as a dictatorship and imposed sanctions on members of the government and their allies. The State Department has also enacted visa restrictions targeting more than 2,350 Nicaraguan officials and their family members.

“The United States stands with the Nicaraguan people who, like Rivera, aspire to see a free Nicaragua,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in June.

The Biden administration previously said Ortega illegitimately awarded himself another term following Nicaragua’s disputed 2021 presidential election.

Authorities arrested presidential candidates, opposition figures, business leaders and journalists ahead of that vote as the government intensified its criminalization of dissent.

Ortega and Murillo further expanded their authority through sweeping constitutional changes that took effect in 2025. The reforms extended the presidential term from five years to six and elevated Murillo from vice president to “co-president.”

The changes also placed Nicaragua’s legislative, judicial and electoral institutions under the authority of the presidency, according to United Nations experts.

Ortega and Murillo now exercise control over nearly every branch of the government, including the armed forces, police and judiciary.

Ortega had already effectively eliminated meaningful electoral competition during elections in 2011, 2016 and 2021, Salvador Marenco, coordinator of the Costa Rica-based Nicaragua Nunca Más Human Rights Collective, told Reuters.

Many prominent opposition leaders have been imprisoned, forced into exile or stripped of their Nicaraguan citizenship, while opposition parties and independent civic organizations have lost their legal status.

A United Nations group of experts has accused the Ortega-Murillo government of systematically violating human rights as part of a campaign to eliminate criticism and preserve its hold on power. The experts said some alleged violations may amount to crimes against humanity.

The government launched a violent crackdown on anti-government protests in 2018. More than 300 people were killed during the unrest, according to international human rights groups.

Airport Cannabis Mishap Could Lead to 10-Year Prison Sentence and $15,000 Fine

0

As Americans pack their bags for international journeys, there’s one crucial item they must ensure is left behind: cannabis, which could result in considerable fines or, in severe cases, imprisonment.

U.S. authorities are cautioning travelers that transporting cannabis products across international borders can have serious legal repercussions. This advisory comes in light of Thailand’s recent adoption of stricter customs regulations aimed at curbing violations.

In June 2026, Thailand enacted rigorous laws that significantly penalize anyone caught carrying cannabis into the country.

Those who break the law could face up to a decade behind bars, be slapped with fines reaching 500,000 Thai baht (approximately $15,000), or endure both penalties, according to insights from the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Thailand.

Fox News Digital has sought comments from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) regarding these revised restrictions.

Although Thailand decriminalized cannabis possession in 2022, importing or exporting cannabis without the proper permissions remains illegal, the warning said.

Jeffrey Hoffman, a New York-based cannabis attorney, said travelers should never assume that laws at home apply once they cross an international border.

“While we are seeing cannabis laws relaxed in countries like Canada and in various states in the U.S., cannabis is still generally illegal across the overwhelming majority of the planet,” Hoffman told Fox News Digital. “When you travel to a different jurisdiction, you become subject to its laws.”

Hoffman, a legalization activist, pointed to the high-profile case of WNBA star Brittney Griner, who was imprisoned in Russia after authorities found cannabis oil in her luggage, as a reminder that some countries strictly enforce drug laws.

“There is no safe harbor when traveling internationally,” he said. “Even a mistake is no excuse.”

Travel expert and former flight attendant Bobby Laurie, based in the D.C. area, said many travelers mistakenly assume that if something is legal at home, it’s automatically legal everywhere they go.

“Even if you’re carrying a cannabis product for personal use or have a medical prescription, that doesn’t guarantee it [will] be allowed at your destination,” Laurie told Fox News Digital. “Some countries have extremely strict drug laws, and the penalties can be severe.”

Laurie recommended checking local laws before every trip, plus emptying backpacks, purses and carry-ons of forgotten items. He said people should never assume customs officials will overlook a mistake.

Some countries have laws governing everyday items that many travelers would never expect, Laurie noted — pointing to Singapore’s restrictions on chewing gum as a reminder to research destination-specific rules before packing.

“This is one of those things you wouldn’t know unless you researched it, and how many of us walk around with that in our bags?” he said.

Fox News Digital previously reported that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently updated its guidance for travelers carrying medical marijuana on domestic flights.

While the agency permits certain medical cannabis products under limited circumstances, experts emphasized that international travel is a different matter.

Crossing international borders with cannabis remains subject to the laws of the destination country, regardless of whether marijuana is legal where a traveler lives.

The TSA also notes that while its officers are focused on security screening, they may refer suspected violations of law to local law enforcement.

Brave Schoolgirl Exposes Inappropriate Comment by Board Member, Sparking Outrage

0

A woman from Tennessee, who endured an unsettling encounter involving a local school board member, has publicly shared her story of distress for the first time. The incident unfolded when the official made an inappropriate comment about her appearance during a public board meeting.

Hannah Campbell was at the Washington County School Board gathering on April 2, aiming to present her findings on the district’s education system. However, her intentions were disrupted when board member Keith Ervin encircled her with his arm and delivered a disrespectful remark.

“God, you’re hot, you know that? Where do you go to school at?” the middle-aged Ervin inappropriately quipped to the teenager.

Within a month, Ervin found himself facing charges of assault, specifically relating to physical contact, as a consequence of his cringe-worthy comment.

Reflecting on the incident, Campbell expressed her belief that “no one should be subjected to such treatment in any context—especially in a place where one expects to feel secure, like a professional environment.”

‘And that just makes me feel like more people should understand that some mistakes can’t afford to be made, especially seeing the reputation not only Washington County has gotten after that, but Tennessee as a whole,’ she told WJHL.

‘And I just don’t think that that’s fair because we have so many amazing students doing amazing things, and it’s getting overlooked because of one incident,’ added Campbell, who graduated from high school in the spring.

But at the same time, Campbell said she doesn’t want to ‘minimize’ the incident either, ‘because it was awful.’

In the aftermath, the local community rallied around Campbell and her family, her mother, April said, describing how she started receiving messages of support from people she didn’t even know.

‘And so the community support is what really got the whole movement started,’ she claimed. ‘It wasn’t us. The community did that. The other people did that. We didn’t start that. They did. They got it rolling. We had very little that we even had to do. We just showed up at a couple meetings to meet some people and they did it.

‘It was amazing because we were dealing with a different emotional roller coaster and they took the reins to be like “We will push for this change and get it started.”‘

Some parents then demanded Ervin resign or otherwise be forcibly removed from the board as school officials said his conduct was under review.

He was ultimately censured for his behavior but was allowed to retain his seat  despite public outcry and a letter from David Crockett High School students expressing their discomfort with him.

For Campbell, that slap on the wrist was a wholly inadequate measure, and she gave the board a piece of her mind on May 7.

‘Gaining global attention for sexual comments and assault is not the reputation that Washington County deserves,’ she said, referencing the widespread media attention Ervin’s actions received.

‘Everyone on this board shares that blame, as does every voter who put you into office,’ she continued. ‘I believe that you are all cowards.’

What should happen when those in power cross the line with students in public settings?

The teenager went on to call Ervin’s actions ‘unwelcome,’ ‘sexist’ and ‘derogatory,’ and she said that the board’s ‘failure to act… was and is equivalent to his actions, and it has hurt me just as much.’

She also called out a religious argument used by several board members to justify their soft-touched discipline of Ervin and blasted ‘those who used their god as a cop-out for forgiveness.’

‘I do not forgive you, and I do not accept your fake apologies used to protect yourselves,’ the teenager continued.

Campbell now admits she ‘was a little nervous’ before she went up to the podium that night, ‘but after I saw the impact that it made, it was so beyond worth it.’

She now hopes people are more aware of what is said behind closed doors and who they are electing to represent them, ‘and not just voting for them because they’re your friend or because you know them around town.’

At the same time, the high school graduate is encouraging other students to get involved and make their voices heard.

‘Age should have no influence on… how much your opinion matters,’ Campbell asserted.

Ervin has previously defended himself by saying that his statement was misconstrued and previously told NBC News: ‘When I mentioned she was hot, I meant she was on a roll. It was nothing to do with her appearance.’

In April, Washington County Board of Education Chair Annette Buchanan released a public statement that said, ‘Mr Ervin has explained that he meant nothing offensive and that we have simply misunderstood his intentions.’

She also said, however, that ‘Mr Ervin knows his own intentions, but the rest of us have to judge his words and his actions,’ which she called ‘shocking’ and ‘grossly inappropriate.’

London Community Honors Slain British Immigrant with Poignant Tribute Amid Controversy

0

In a poignant tribute marked by the glow of flares, mourners convened in London to honor the memory of a British illegal immigrant whose life was tragically cut short before his 21st birthday. The young man, whose controversial story has captured international attention, was fatally shot in the US under fraught circumstances involving an alleged con on a pensioner.

Salis Hanrahan, an Irish traveller hailing from Essex, lost his life at just 20 years old on July 8 in Philadelphia. He was shot inside the residence of George Barr, a former firefighter aged 75, a grim incident that unfolded within the historical American city.

In the days leading up to this tragic event, Hanrahan was reportedly engaged in construction work at Barr’s house. Local news outlets have suggested that the young Briton was shot after allegedly attempting to bill the homeowner an exorbitant £51,800 for repairs on a property valued at £190,000.

Hanrahan’s path to the US was laden with legal hurdles; denied a visa, he entered the country illegally, despite being linked by government authorities to what they identified as the ‘Travelling Conman Fraud Group’. Such affiliations underscored his fraught immigration journey.

This organized crime syndicate, as designated by the FBI, has gained notoriety for orchestrating scams where victims are grossly overcharged for incomplete building works. Such allegations have shadowed the group, positioning them at the center of cross-border criminal investigations.

Hanrahan collapsed on a pavement outside Barr’s home in the Roxborough neighbourhood of Philadelphia – and later died in hospital from a gunshot wound to his chest.

The traveller’s body has since been repatriated back to London, where more than a hundred mourners gathered today in his memory.

Hanrahan’s body arrived at a west London funeral parlour in a £500,000 Rolls Royce as friends and family let balloons into the sky and held placards reading: ‘RIP Salis’.

Footage showed plumes of red and white smoke billowing into the sky after flares were let off on the busy road.

Mourners parked their vehicles across the street causing grid-locked traffic, and cars could be heard tooting their horns as crowds set up pictures of Hanrahan on the pavement.

One showed a picture of the 20-year-old posing with his thumbs up, with golden messages surrounding his image reading: ‘Happy 21st birthday Salis Hanrahan.’

Barr, Hanrahan’s alleged killer, has been charged with murder, possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person.

He has not yet entered a plea and is being held at a Pennsylvania prison after being remanded into custody.

Hanrahan appears to have wed his wife Roseann just months before his death, and the couple shared a one-year-old daughter together. Roseann posted on social media after his passing: ‘My beautiful husband. I love you so much.’

US police said last week that contractors were fitting sliding doors on Barr’s home shortly after 2pm on July 8 when gunfire was heard.

Philadelphia police Captain James Kimrey told reporters: ‘They heard arguments or some kind of commotion inside and then they found the boss outside.’

Local outlet KYW said that the victim had been ‘asking for more money’ every day prior to his death.

Hanrahan was ‘an illegal alien from the United Kingdom’, the US Department of Homeland Security said, and entered the country without a work permit.

A spokesman said: ‘He entered the country illegally on an unknown date and location and was denied Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) as he was determined to have affiliation with ‘The Traveling Conman Fraud Group’, a transnational criminal organization’.

The victim’s family hit out at his alleged killer in the days after he was killed, describing Barr as ‘evil’ and ‘scum’.

A relative called Paddy Hanrahan posted a news story about the incident on Facebook, writing: ‘Please look at the evil in he’s [sic] face. He couldn’t even give a reason why he done it. He cold-bloodedly killed him for nothing’.

Friend Martina McCarthy responded: ‘I said the same u can see the evil behind his eyes rip salis [sic]’.

Another friend, Michelle Bas, wrote: ‘He needs to rot in jail!!!’

Hanrahan’s sister Lisa-Marie posted a picture of Barr and wrote: ‘The scum that took my baby brother lord pls why us.’

Others, however, were quick to show their support for the 75-year-old.

One local woman wrote: ‘Free George Barr, NOW! He is a retired Philadelphia Firefighter and a hero from [the] Vietnam War’.

Another woman posted: ‘I have known George for a very long time. Frankly, I can’t believe this. Always been so kind to me and my daughters’.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Tommy McKiernan, the vice president of the Philadelphia firefighter’s union, said that Barr joined the Fire Department in 1989 and retired in 2015, having last served at Ladder 11 in the South of the city.

McKiernan said that Barr’s wife Angela, who he married years after they began dating, had died in September.

He said: ‘He was an exceptional firefighter and this is something that’s way out of character for him.

‘I don’t know if he was diagnosed with PTSD from Vietnam but it’s likely something from being a firefighter, maybe a combination of the two.

Police said last week that contractors were putting sliding doors on Barr's home (pictured) shortly before Hanrahan's death

Police said last week that contractors were putting sliding doors on Barr’s home (pictured) shortly before Hanrahan’s death

‘I wasn’t there when it happened so I don’t know if any of that was triggered.

‘George isn’t the kind of guy who would just pull a gun out and shoot somebody. I’m wondering if there was a confrontation, maybe it got physical. I’m hoping it’s self-defence.

‘I’ve never seen him angry or argumentative. He was in control. That was not his character to get mad or confrontational.

‘The only time I saw him angry is if we had jobs back in the day and somebody got killed on the job’.

Court documents showed that the Travelling Conmen Fraud Group, of which Hanrahan was believed to be a part, is made up of UK or Irish nationals who enter the US on tourist visas and overstay. Others, however, enter the country illegally.

The documents state: ‘Once in the United States, Travelers go to different cities and states, soliciting construction work.

‘This is sometimes done door-to-door, by knocking and introducing themselves to homeowners, usually elderly individuals, claiming to have extra materials left over from a prior job or noticing a defect or damage to the home that needs to be repaired immediately.

‘The members often quote a low price, and then, after further inspection, demand much more money.

‘Travelers usually start with a small job (such as fixing brick entry steps or re-pointing chimneys) and then convince homeowners that their homes need major repairs, such as foundation work or waterproofing.

‘At this point, the Travelers overcharge homeowners and sometimes intimidate homeowners into paying them up front for work that is not completed.’

Barr’s family did not return calls and texts asking for comment.

The Philadelphia Police Department confirmed that Barr had been charged and that a firearm was recovered at the scene.

Its statement said: ‘The investigation remains active and is being conducted by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit.’

Rep. Nancy Mace Chooses to Stay in House, Opts Out of Senate Bid

In a recent announcement, U.S. Representative Nancy Mace declared that she will not pursue a candidacy in the special election meant to fill the late South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham’s seat this November.

Mace stated, “I’m not running for the Senate because I have some unfinished business.” She expressed a strong commitment to continue her advocacy, adding, “Since I stood on that House floor, I’ve been fighting for every woman and girl who was told to stay silent. I want justice—and that day is coming.”

Earlier this year, Mace made a bid for South Carolina’s gubernatorial race but concluded the Republican primary in fifth place.

“Thank you for all your support, all the calls and texts,” Mace conveyed in her message of gratitude. “You are the BEST. Serving South Carolina is the honor of my LIFE, and I will NEVER forget it.”

At least five Republicans have already entered the race for the August 11 special primary election, setting the stage for a competitive showdown.

Darline Graham, sister of Lindsey Graham, announced that she will enter the race to run for a full term in the senate. Graham was appointed by Governor Henry McMaster to fill her brother’s seat for the remainder of the current term, which ends in early January.

In addition, Rep. Russell Fry (SC-7), Rep. Ralph Norman (SC-5), businessman Mark Lynch, and Duke Buckner have also announced plans to join the race.

Each candidate is vying for the chance to replace Lindsey Graham on the November ballot after his death on July 11.

The winner of the special primary election will face Democrat Dr. Annie Andrews, Libertarian Kasie Whitener, and Constitution party candidate Mark Hackett in the general election.

Tuscola Athlete Thrives Mentally in Second Year of Collegiate Track

TUSCOLA, Ill. (WCIA) — As Josiah Hortin leaps into his college journey, he’s discovering the lessons of life extend well beyond the starting line.

Before he donned the Louisville uniform, Hortin made waves by clinching a trio of state titles during his senior year at Tuscola back in 2024.

In his latest season, Hortin etched his name into Louisville’s records by achieving a top-ten standing in the indoor 800-meter, which coincided with celebrating his first college victory in the event. Transitioning from high school to the collegiate track hasn’t been entirely smooth, but Hortin reflects that each hurdle is a learning opportunity.

“In high school, there’s constant guidance from your coach every day. But college is a different realm where you have to navigate largely on your own,” he explained. “Adapting took me about a year, which is common for many freshmen. There’s a new training regime, perhaps more mileage and workload, plus juggling classes and the independence of meal prep. It’s a collage of changes you need to embrace.”

Notably, the Cardinals secured a top-tier finish, ranking within the top ten, in both indoor and outdoor ACC Championships, marking a strong team performance.

Meet Claudia Rodriguez: Marc Cucurella’s Partner Explored

Marc Cucurella has carved a niche for himself as one of soccer’s most distinguished figures. He honed his craft at the prestigious La Masia youth academy before starting his professional journey with Barcelona. His talent soon caught the eyes of the English Premier League, leading him to a significant signing with Chelsea in 2022.

The versatile left-back also serves as a key player for Spain’s national squad, contributing significantly to their victorious UEFA Euro 2024 campaign. In a notable career move, he departed from Chelsea in 2026 to fortify the ranks of Real Madrid.

Alongside Cucurella on this remarkable journey has been his steadfast partner, Claudia Rodriguez, who has supported him through the various transitions across cities and teams. Let’s take a closer look at her role in Cucurella’s life and their shared family journey.

How long Cucurella and Rodriguez have been together

Since 2018, Cucurella and Rodriguez have shared a strong bond. Reports from La Vanguardia reveal that their story began when Cucurella played for Barcelona. A mutual friend facilitated their initial connection, leading Cucurella to reach out to her on Instagram. Rodriguez found herself drawn to his charisma and humor, sparking a lasting relationship.

June 15, 2026, marked a pivotal moment in Cucurella’s career with his transfer from Chelsea to Real Madrid, where he inked a promising six-year contract set to keep him at the club until June 2032.

Following the news, Rodriguez penned a goodbye to the English club via Instagram, writing, “I don’t know how to say goodbye to my home. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this experience. I feel very fortunate for everything we have shared over these past few years … Everything we have experienced these past years has been an experience of pure learning. We have been through it all, but above all, we have enjoyed this journey. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this chapter of our lives … I wish you all the best. London will always be Blue.”

In that same post, Rodriguez shared that she was also “bursting with happiness” about Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid because she has been a fan of that club since she was a child.

Rodriguez’s background and interests

Rodríguez was born on Sep. 1, 1999, in Mataró, Spain, a coastal city outside of Barcelona.

She studied classical dance for several years and was a ballet dancer. She later studied communications in college.

Rodríguez has built a strong social media presence and today is a content creator. She often shares glimpses into her family life with Cucurella, as well as her travels and fashion choices. During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, she garnered buzz over her custom-designed matchday outfits, which were created in collaboration with designer Carolina Castellote.

How many children Cucurella and Rodriguez have together

Cucurella and Rodriguez are parents to three children. Their oldest son, Mateo, was born in 2019, followed by another son, Río, in 2021, and their daughter, Bella, in 2023.

Mateo was diagnosed with autism. Cucurella and Rodriguez have been open about raising a child with special needs.

In the documentary Married to the Game, Cucurella explained, “It has its negative side: everything takes more effort, everything is more difficult. But also its good side: when you achieve something, a simple step forward, it brings much more satisfaction.”

By speaking out, the couple hopes to raise awareness and support for families facing similar challenges.

Accused of a hate crime, a man identified as Andrew Truelove approached “Today” co-host Craig Melvin at NBC’s Manhattan studio. Truelove has a lengthy criminal history spanning over two decades, with charges including attempted kidnapping and trespassing, as shown by court records.

Andrew Truelove, 41, was taken into custody by New York City police last week. According to NBC, he had sneaked into a vestibule adjacent to Studio 1A at Rockefeller Center, where he confronted Melvin.

Footage from the show captures a man resembling Truelove, clad in similar attire, appearing in the background as early as 8:03 a.m. on the day of the incident. By 8:05 a.m., he is seen removing a backpack and seemingly placing it in or near a bush outside NBC’s building. He was visible several times in the footage until 8:34 a.m., while actress Anne Hathaway was on set discussing her role in the newest adaptation of “The Odyssey.”

Truelove was apprehended by the NYPD at 8:57 a.m., accused of using a racial slur while confronting Melvin in a building area not accessible to the public.

He was allegedly looking for Al Roker when he found Melvin instead.

In October 2007, Truelove was accused of trying to abduct an 8-year-old from a school in Norfolk, Virginia. He was convicted at trial and sentenced to 10 years in prison, of which six were suspended, followed by 10 years on probation, court records show.

A psychiatrist testified he had symptoms of bipolar disorder and had stopped taking medications after gaining more than 100 pounds prior to the incident, according to The Virginian-Pilot.

Truelove has an extensive rap sheet in the state of Virginia, where court records show he was also accused of trespassing, destruction of property, making bomb threats and multiple probation violations.

In 2023, he served 90 days in jail for the property destruction case. In 2014, he was arrested on charges of stealing signs from memorials dedicated to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims.

He faces hate crime charges of burglary, a felony, and menacing, a misdemeanor, in connection with the Melvin incident.

“An individual entered an unauthorized area in a vestibule near Studio 1A,” a “Today” spokesperson said in a statement. “The person approached anchor Craig Melvin, who alerted security. The individual was detained and taken into custody by law enforcement without further incident. There was no altercation, and no one was injured. TODAY is cooperating fully with law enforcement as they investigate the matter. NBC and TODAY take the safety and security of our employees, talent, staff and guests extremely seriously. We are reviewing the incident and our security protocols and remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone who works at and visits our studios.”

Court records in New York show man with the same name and age as Truelove has additional pending cases in connection with an alleged assault in the NYPD’s 5th Precinct in January, trespassing and reckless endangerment charges on the city’s transit system from May — and a 12-count criminal mischief indictment from last year.

He’s now being held on $10,000 bail in a New York City jail.

Melvin’s colleague, Savannah Guthrie, is the daughter of missing Nancy Guthrie, whose Feb. 1 disappearance remains unsolved. She is believed to have been abducted from her home after Nest video shows a masked intruder on her front steps in the Catalina Foothills of northern Tucson, Arizona.

Anyone with information on that case is asked to call 1-800-FBI or 520-88-CRIME.

With no arrests or publicly identified suspects in the Guthrie case, some web sleuths have pondered a potential connection. However, Truelove has not been linked to the abduction by any law enforcement agency, and he does not match the physical description of a masked man seen on Guthrie’s front porch around the time she was taken.

These two images were released by the FBI, recovered from Nancy Guthrie’s Nest doorbell camera. It’s unclear whether they show the same person. (FBI)

New York jail records list Truelove as about 6 feet tall and 250 pounds. The masked intruder has been described by the FBI as 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall with an average build.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and FBI did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Truelove has reportedly traveled through the Sonoran Desert region, according to a 2023 profile in the Los Angeles Times that focused on his bout with homelessness on the West Coast after getting off of probation in Virginia.

It was not immediately clear when he arrived in New York City.

Truelove is due back in court Wednesday.
