Trump Lashes Out at Homeland Security Chief as Tensions Flare

0

Markwayne Mullin is currently feeling the heat from President Donald Trump, following a series of blunders that have caught unwanted attention.

Mullin secured his role in March when Trump appointed him as the successor to the outgoing Kristi Noem as the Department of Homeland Security Secretary. Just a month after Mullin’s appointment, Trump reshuffled his cabinet by dismissing Attorney General Pam Bondi and introducing Todd Blanche as her replacement.

According to a Wall Street Journal article, sources close to the situation indicate that Mullin might soon find himself at odds with Trump. These insiders claim that Mullin has deviated from Trump’s firm stance on border security, raising questions about his tenure.

The first notable slip-up occurred in late June. Mullin made a controversial appearance on CNN after a significant Supreme Court decision that greenlit Trump’s plan to terminate temporary protections for Haitian immigrants residing in the United States.

During this appearance with Jake Tapper, Mullin delivered remarks that seemed discordant with the administration’s script, suggesting that Haitians could pursue paperwork for permanent status or be assisted in returning to their homeland—a comment that didn’t sit well with some of Trump’s officials.

The secretary also drew annoyance from Trump when he pressed to cancel the Fourth of July fireworks show on the National Mall because there was lightning in the area.

Trump appeared to lightly roast Mullin for suggesting they cancel during his speech that evening.

‘One of my very brilliant people backstage said, ‘Don’t worry about it, sir. We can do it maybe next week.’ ‘I said, ‘It doesn’t work next week.’ This is the big day. We want July Fourth. We’re not looking for July something else.’

Is Trump right to demand absolute loyalty and toughness from his cabinet, or does it hurt his leadership?

As July wore on, DHS came under fire after two immigrants were killed in ICE-involved shootings in Texas and Maine in the span of a week.

Mullin put a temporary halt to federal immigration officials stopping vehicles for check-ins.

An administration official told WSJ that Trump was not made aware of the move before Mullin made it. Trump reversed the policy the next day via a Truth Social post.

This past week saw another reported mistake from Mullin, as he spoke at a meeting of the National Governors Association in his home state of Oklahoma.

Mullin drew criticism from the administration for saying that the idea of immigrants stealing American jobs, while ‘true in some industries, it’s not true for all industries.’

He added that immigration may be a way to fix some industries’ struggles with low labor-force participation rates.

The Daily Mail reported of the MAGA revolt over the comments, as Trump ally Laura Loomer soon after called for the President to fire Mullin and said he hasn’t increased mass deportations.

The torrent of criticism from the Trump-aligned spectrum included former Customs and Border Patrol chief Gregory Bovino, Laura Loomer, Tomi Lahren and Steve Bannon, among others, and came after Mullin used a speech in Oklahoma City to strike a more moderate tone on immigration.

The first gaffe came in late June, after the Supreme Court ruled Trump was allowed to end protections for Haitian immigrants living in the US. Mullin, in comments administration officials said were out of step, told Jake Tapper that some could potentially return to the US

Mullin’s reputation also took a hit following his praise of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, with whom he previously told Politico he shares a ‘real good relationship’ with.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore, also a Democrat, praised Mullin’s remarks in Oklahoma City as a breath of fresh air from a senior Trump official.

There has been an ‘absolute difference in what we have seen from the start of the [Trump] administration until now,’ he said.

But several hours after his speech, Mullin appeared to have gotten the message from Trump’s allies loud and clear.

‘NO amnesty for illegal aliens. Ever,’ Mullin said on social media, apparently reneging on his earlier remarks.

Mullin has also clashed with Trump allies over his pick for the new head of ICE, Lance Schroyer.

The Daily Mail revealed earlier this week that his nomination has been indefinitely shelved despite Mullin’s protests.

ICE officials balked at the idea, suggesting Schroyer lacks federal government or immigration experience.

Tom Homan, the President’s border czar, has also reportedly objected to the pick.

Sources familiar with the ICE director search told the Daily Mail they are not aware of Mullin’s vetting of other candidates.

Instead, sources say, Mullin tapped his ‘buddy’ and took his case directly to Trump without consulting two of the President’s top immigration advisers: Stephen Miller and Homan.

A White House source insisted earlier this week that Schroyer remains President Trump’s nominee to lead ICE, and Congressional scheduling should not be interpreted as any personnel announcements.

The Daily Mail reported late last month that Schroyer’s confirmation appeared in doubt, with fresh scrutiny over his lack of experience and his personal baggage, according to eight current and former DHS officials.

A senior administration official confirmed to WSJ that Trump is growing more and more frustrated with Mullin but has no plans to fire him.

‘President Trump has confidence in his Cabinet to carry out the agenda the American people voted for,’ White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said in a statement.

‘Thanks to President Trump’s leadership we have the most secure border in history, we are deporting record numbers of illegal aliens, we have cracked down on illegal alien fraud, and we are denaturalizing individuals who illegally procured American citizenship.’

A spokesperson for the DHS told WSJ that the administration is ‘one team and we have one fight.’

Democrats John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico crossed party lines and sided with the majority of Republicans to approve the nomination, which was confirmed 54-45 in March.

However, Republican Senator Rand Paul, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, voted against the nominee due to their open hostility toward each other. Mullin had previously called Paul a ‘freaking snake’ – but later apologized.

Ex-DHS Secretary Noem was spectacularly fired by Trump earlier in March after much scrutiny over her alleged affair with top staffer Corey Lewandowski, which both have denied, and other scandals.

The President lauded Mullin for his Native American roots and claimed the Senator ‘will make a spectacular Secretary of Homeland Security’ in the Truth Social post announcing his pick to replace Noem.

Mullin has been a staunch ally of Trump’s policies during his time in Congress, and has appeared frequently on cable TV defending the administration’s agenda.

He has represented Oklahoma in the United States Senate since 2023, and previously served in the United States House of Representatives from 2013 to 2023.

Prior to entering politics, the Oklahoman had a brief stint as a mixed martial arts or MMA fighter. He left the sport with an undefeated 5-0 record and was later inducted into the Oklahoma Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2016.

The senator is known as a firebrand and even challenged the Teamsters president to a brawl during a Senate hearing in 2023.

The Daily Mail has contacted the White House and DHS for comment.

Matheus Nunes Reflects on Guardiola’s Man City Farewell, Right-Back Transition, and the John Stones Feud

0

A mere 18 hours after Manchester City clinched a nail-biting victory against Leeds in November, John Stones emerged at the club’s training ground with an unmistakable focus on teammate Matheus Nunes.

In a bond that might defy expectations, Stones and Nunes found camaraderie through humor. Nunes made it his mission to inject levity into their mornings, often jokingly attempting to irritate Stones over breakfast. Or as Nunes affectionately put it, to ‘p*** John off’.

This playful dynamic took an intriguing twist when Nunes, after a major error that helped spark an unlikely comeback by Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal, found himself in Stones’s playful crosshairs. The blunder saw him mishandle possession inside the penalty box in a chaotic manner.

Stones seized the moment to playfully seek revenge, comforted by two facts: City’s last-minute victory, sealed by Phil Foden, and Nunes’s growing confidence as a right back, a position he had steadily come to embrace.

Initially, Nunes resisted Pep Guardiola’s decision to shift him to right back, struggling to come to terms with it for six long months in 2025. His frustrations were such that a departure from the club seemed like a possibility.

But once the Leeds gaffe came around, the 27-year-old was already comfortable in his new skin – any mental fragility gone – and now he heads into this Premier League as Enzo Maresca’s first choice. This comes after those closest to him had to cajole him into believing in a reimagined destiny while at his lowest ebb.

‘When I was playing as a winger, Bernardo [Silva] would call me Thierry Henry,’ Nunes says. ‘Then I played as a full back and he called me Cafu.

‘Bernardo and Ruben [Dias] were so annoying all the time, they were in my head constantly: ‘You were good there, you were good there. You need to accept it.’ And I was like, no, no, no, all the time.

‘I always told my friends that I wasn’t a full back. At a certain point you just have to see what the people are saying. You can’t be denying it for the rest of your life. If you do, maybe you miss your chance. Now I feel like a full back.’

Nunes struggled to countenance the switch from central midfield, where he had excelled at Wolves. During the process of shifting him into defence Pep Guardiola once said that Nunes wasn’t ‘clever enough’ to feature in the middle for City – comments he privately clarified with the player a day later.

The integration was not easy, Nunes in and out, bruised by mistakes during a derby defeat too – one of them glaring, under-hitting a back pass and then barging Amad over to concede a penalty in blind panic.

‘Individually I would say this is probably the most difficult game,’ he adds. ‘In my head after the game… when you do mistakes as a midfielder, you would never affect the game like that one. I did one mistake and it led to a goal, and then you end up losing the game and that’s all you think in your head, you know?

‘But it was not only that, it was me coming from a place where it was uncomfortable for me, a position where it was uncomfortable for me, not being able to accept it, because I wasn’t accepting it. In my head, it was ‘I’m not a full-back. I’m not a full-back’. That’s all I was thinking about.

‘I think in the Club World Cup, my mindset started to change. Oh, I can actually play good. I had maybe three or four games in a row and then the beginning of last season I started playing every single game. Then your head just flips and you can see it through.’

Nunes saw a psychologist during that transition and Guardiola ended up revealing that he observed elite potential in him as a defender. ‘If I didn’t change my mindset I would never have played good there and he would never have said stuff like that. He probably said that because he started to see what others couldn’t see.

‘Then actually seeing Pep during training, the way he believed in me, I felt there was a bit of a difference in the way that we interacted with each other. This stuff, you just feel it, it’s not something that I can explain. And once you start seeing all of this stuff, it changes the mindset. It was not easy, of course, but I had a decision to make: do I want to play or do I not want to play? And I wanted to play.’

Nunes begins to become emotional when Guardiola’s exit is raised. He talks about the video montage shown to players and staff – of Guardiola’s speeches and moments with the squad across a decade – when the manager officially announced his departure to the room.

Did Pep Guardiola’s position changes for players help City reach new heights or hold back their talents?

‘A lot of people were crying,’ Nunes says. ‘Pep held it together. He just wanted to get it over [quickly]. It became real that he was actually leaving. It’s difficult to talk about.

‘It’s very hard to say goodbye to someone who gave so much to us all. Someone who put the club to a level that seems unreachable again. What he did was unbelievable. A lot of things are going to change. I’ve never been in the club without him. It’s never easy to say goodbye.’

Adding Silva and Stones into that equation has made it a sombre summer for Nunes specifically.

‘Huge losses,’ he says. ‘If you look at it, John was a very important figure in the club. He was always a joker. The three of us were. I’m just being myself, and then I end up being a clown sometimes. What’s the point of life if you’re not having a laugh?’

Spencer Pratt Reveals Dramatic Collaboration with President Trump to Rescue Hollywood

In a striking turn of events, reality TV personality Spencer Pratt has divulged details of a recent encounter with former President Donald Trump. This meeting took place against the backdrop of Pratt’s defeat in the race for mayor of Los Angeles.

“We’re working on implementing a 25% FEDERAL film tax credit aimed at revitalizing Hollywood,” the 42-year-old former star of “The Hills” shared in an Instagram post dated Friday, August 7. “While Governor Gavin Newsom’s team is shipping production jobs off to Hungary, and his Attorney General is disrupting California’s production companies, the decision-makers are stepping up to retain the essence of a truly American industry.”

The social media post was accompanied by a photograph capturing the moment Pratt and Trump, age 80, met at Trump’s golf club in Los Angeles.

“I’m dedicated to safeguarding Hollywood,” Pratt emphasized, expressing gratitude for the former President’s strong commitment to this cause. “Trump’s enthusiasm for rejuvenating the entertainment sector is unmatched, and we refuse to let Canada, the UK, or Budapest have an upper hand over us,” he added.

California Governor Candidate Steve Hilton Teases Role for Spencer Pratt in His Administration

Meanwhile, Steve Hilton, a California gubernatorial hopeful, hinted at the possibility of a future role for Spencer Pratt, considering his unsuccessful attempt to secure the mayoral seat. “I would be honored to have him in any role,” Hilton, 56, stated during a June 11 appearance on Fox News, underlining the synergy between the two political aspirants.

Pratt added that during their meeting, he and Trump shared a meal which he described as the “best clam chowder” he has ever had.

“We discussed several other very important topics, as well. I’m humbled and grateful for all the time and discussion from the President,” Pratt recalled. “Unlike many other cynical doomers out there, he refuses to write off California.”

When Pratt entered the Los Angeles mayoral race earlier this year, Trump seemingly endorsed the former reality star. (While Pratt is a registered republican, the Los Angeles mayoral race was a nonpartisan election.)

“I’d like to see him do well. He’s a character,” Trump told reporters ahead of the primary election. “I assume he probably supports me. I heard he’s a big MAGA person.”

In May, Pratt spoke with Us about his mayoral bid and stressed his deep commitment to the endeavour. “It was always very serious, but when I announced [my run] in front of thousands of fire victims, everyone cheered so much that it kicked off a new path of being taken seriously,” he exclusively told Us, revealing his wife, Heidi Montag, showed unwavering support. “And as I go to all of these communities and meet with community leaders, they just have so much faith in me.”

Pratt ended up finishing in third in the June primary election, falling short of the runoff by less than 30,000 votes. Los Angeles voters will choose between current mayor Karen Bass and Los Angeles City Council member Nithya Raman this November.

Following the loss, Trump continued to advocate for Pratt.

Jimmy-Kimmel-and-Spencer-Pratt

Jimmy Kimmel hopes Spencer Pratt keeps his promise to leave Los Angeles after losing the mayoral election — and he’s offering his packing services. “He clearly promised that if Karen Bass or Nithya Raman were elected mayor, he’s going to move out of L.A.,” Kimmel, 58, said on the Tuesday, June 9, broadcast of Jimmy […]

“Spencer Pratt…He shouldn’t go away quietly,” Trump said of Pratt’s loss during a June speech to the Faith & Freedom Coalition, before erroneously — and without any evidence — claiming the election outcome was not legitimate. “He should protest because it was, in my very strong opinion, that was a rigged election.”

Last month, Pratt paid a visit to the White House and hinted his career in politics wasn’t over yet.

“I will never stop fighting for my community,” Pratt wrote via Instagram alongside a photo of him and Trump inside the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, D.C.

Details about Pratt and Trump’s July meeting were not publicly revealed at the time.

Man Respected My Rejection and Walked Away, Earning My Praise

A woman recently expressed her appreciation for the respectful response from a man who gracefully accepted her decision when she declined his advances. She emphasized that his behavior stood out in contrast to her previous experiences with other men.

The woman recalled the incident during a bus ride. She was on her way back from taking measurements for clients when she encountered this man.

As she shared, she sensed the man’s interest in striking up a conversation. Coincidentally, they both disembarked at the same stop.

Upon leaving the bus, she attempted to catch a motorcycle but reconsidered due to the high fare. The man kindly suggested she take a tricycle and directed her to the appropriate location.

Man accepts rejection without argument

Grateful for his help, she thanked him. It was then that he introduced himself and expressed a desire to know her better.

The lady said, “I told him no I do not want to get to know you and this guy said you don’t want to know me?”

She maintained her decision, after which the man simply said goodbye and walked away.

The lady said she was shocked by his reaction because she had previously experienced situations where men continued following or walking with her despite rejecting their advances.

Lady praises man’s response

Reflecting on the encounter, she said, “A woman’s no is not for you to prove yourself. A no is a no. Take it and go.”

She further stated, “I was so happy. That has never happened to me before. I’ve had men walk with me to my house after I said no.”

The lady described the man’s conduct as commendable, stressing that women should be able to reject advances without being pressured to explain themselves.

Her experience has since sparked discussion about respecting boundaries and accepting rejection in dating and everyday interactions.

Experts Advise Trump: Keep Iran Focused on Atomic Threats

0

As talks continue to swirl around the strategic Strait of Hormuz, experts are advising the Trump administration to maintain its focus on the evolving Iranian nuclear situation.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded on Wednesday to comments reportedly made by IRGC chief Ahmad Vahidi, asserting that Israel would continue to thwart Iran’s nuclear weapon ambitions, irrespective of any diplomatic agreements in place.

These controversial remarks attributed to Vahidi gained online traction; however, they seem to originate from an earlier interview, back when he served as interior minister and an adviser to the IRGC, revisiting statements initially believed to be made in 2025.

In the interview with ILNA, he reportedly claimed that while Iran was not pursuing bomb development, it possessed the capability to act differently if necessary, according to details shared by Khabar online and picked up by News Media.

In reaction to the remarks that were amplified by Israel’s Ch. 14 on X, Netanyahu said during his speech that, “Today, we heard the commander of the Revolutionary Guards, Vahidi, explicitly declare Iran’s intention to continue developing nuclear weapons — ‘continue,’ as he put it,” Netanyahu said at a ceremony marking the reinterment of Shimon and Rivka Herzl, the grandparents of the founder of modern day Zionism, Theodor Herzl.”

“Well, as prime minister of Israel, I too, am determined to continue — to continue preventing Iran from possessing nuclear weapons,” he said.

Netanyahu praised President Donald Trump as Israel’s greatest friend in the White House and expressed appreciation for the two countries’ joint efforts against Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

“Israel’s existence is not subject to negotiation,” Netanyahu said. “With an agreement or without an agreement, I am determined — we are all determined — to do whatever is necessary to ensure our security and our future.”

News Media reached out to a spokesman for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office for clarification of his remarks.

The comments came as nuclear experts urged Trump to keep Iran’s nuclear program at the center of negotiations, warning that Tehran could use the Hormuz crisis to secure sanctions relief and other concessions before addressing its remaining nuclear capabilities.

Trump told “Fox News at Night” Tuesday that military force remained an option if Iran abandoned the talks, while insisting Tehran could not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.

“If they back out again, they’re going to get hit really hard,” Trump told Fox News’ Trace Gallagher. “They know that. They understand that. I have no choice. They can’t have a nuclear weapon. It’s very simple.

“The hard hit is yet to come, and hopefully we won’t have to use it.”

Trump said negotiators held an “all-day negotiation” Tuesday and described the discussions as “very good.” He has said the talks would initially focus on reopening the Strait of Hormuz before turning to Tehran’s nuclear program.

Andrea Stricker, deputy director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies’ Nonproliferation and Biodefense Program, said that sequence could play directly into Iran’s strategy.

“It is in the Iranians’ interest to steer the negotiations toward the issues that they most care about,” Stricker told News Media, including securing major U.S. concessions over Hormuz and “maintaining control of that crucial waterway that has proven a lifeline for Tehran to survive this war.”

She said Iran would also seek oil sanctions relief and potentially relief from all U.S. sanctions, before addressing the nuclear file.

“If Tehran is able to structure the talks that way — and I’m concerned that Trump appears to be going along with that approach — there may be little left in terms of leverage to get big concessions from the Iranians on the nuclear file down the line,” Stricker said.

There is evidence that Tehran has sought to sequence the talks in its favor. Axios reported in April that Iran proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending the war before beginning nuclear negotiations, potentially reducing U.S. leverage over enrichment and Iran’s enriched-uranium stockpile.

The Washington Post later reported that Tehran was focused on preserving its leverage over Hormuz rather than engaging deeply on major nuclear restrictions.

Kelsey Davenport, director for nonproliferation policy at the Arms Control Association, agreed Iran is seeking to capitalize on the leverage it gained by disrupting maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

“The current focus on the Straits of Hormuz is not surprising. Iran is looking to capitalize on leverage gained by disrupting maritime traffic through the waterway and test if Trump is willing to negotiate in good faith,” Davenport told News Media.

Nantaz

She said Tehran understands that any durable agreement will ultimately have to address its nuclear program but said, “At the end of this conflict, Iran will still possess the capabilities necessary to build a bomb,” Davenport said, “The relevant knowledge and nuclear expertise cannot be bombed away.

“Tehran retains key materials and technologies necessary to build a bomb,” she added. “If left unchecked, the nuclear program will be a source of instability and renewed conflict, even if Iran does not resume more proliferation-sensitive nuclear activities.”

A proposed agreement between Iran and Oman could give Tehran some control over ships entering the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz, a senior Iranian source and two regional officials told Reuters Wednesday. One regional source described the arrangement as a concession that had already been made, although the precise meaning of Iranian “control” remained under negotiation.

Iran is also seeking fees from ships traveling through the waterway, according to Reuters, while Washington has opposed both Iranian control and mandatory transit charges.

Stricker said postponing the nuclear issues would allow the regime to preserve its remaining enriched-uranium stockpiles and avoid fully dismantling its nuclear infrastructure.

She said Iran also wants to avoid accounting for its past nuclear weapons-related work or committing to end uranium enrichment and plutonium reprocessing.

“Leaving them as a last-order issue in the negotiations likely means that we will not see the Iranians make big concessions and make a solid nuclear deal,” Stricker said.

Davenport said the administration should prioritize restoring access for inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency before beginning detailed nuclear negotiations.

“The IAEA has not visited key Iranian nuclear sites in more than a year,” she said. “It remains unclear how much of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure remains and where any gaps might be in trying to account for Iran’s nuclear materials.”

She said renewed inspections would give Washington a clearer picture of Iran’s remaining facilities and materials, while helping negotiators design a verification regime capable of addressing any gaps.

Davenport also recommended pairing sanctions relief with specific, verifiable Iranian steps rather than negotiating one sweeping package.

“A series of smaller deals could build confidence in the process,” she said.

Stricker urged the administration to link every concession involving Hormuz, sanctions or the U.S. blockade to a measurable Iranian step on the nuclear file.

“The best approach to ensure a solid deal is to make the nuclear issues just as important as the Strait of Hormuz, removing the blockade and other top Iranian priorities,” she said.

How to Handle Being Let Down by Others During Illness: Advice from Dear Abby

0

DEAR ABBY: For the past two years, I’ve been battling a chronic illness, leading to an extended leave from my job. I’ve always been surrounded by amazing friends and family, whose initial support made the diagnosis a bit more bearable. It was the usual responses of, “Let me know if you need anything,” that comforted me, though I’ve never leaned on anyone, preferring not to impose.

Recently, my world shifted with the passing of my mother, leaving me grappling with overwhelming loneliness. I crave real connection—just a simple lunch or a casual drink with a friend would mean so much. Sadly, my calls go unanswered, and messages seem to disappear into the void. I hadn’t realized there was an expiry on “let me know if you need anything.” I’m certain others out there feel this isolating silence, and I am reaching out for any words of comfort you might offer. — NOT ALWAYS SUNNY IN UTAH

DEAR NOT ALWAYS SUNNY: My heartfelt condolences for the deeply personal loss of your mother. It’s disheartening that those who assured you of their support now seem to have forgotten their promises. This situation requires you to take the initiative to address your solitude.

First, consider joining a support group—either face-to-face or virtual—that relates to your illness. If it aligns with your beliefs, you might also reach out to a religious advisor. Depending on your health, perhaps volunteering for a cause you care about or caring for animals as a foster could also provide meaningful interaction.

Instead of waiting for a call that might never come, perhaps make the proactive choice to have a meal or a drink outside, allowing you to meet new people and protect yourself from dwelling too long in isolation.

** ** **

DEAR ABBY: My son and daughter-in-law think it’s OK to have cameras on me and my husband when we watch their children. It has been going on for six years, and I’m uncomfortable babysitting them while being recorded.

I know my son and his wife watch the footage, because comments have been made about what we have discussed while babysitting. I’m tired of sucking it up and allowing this. This would mean that I probably wouldn’t get to see my grandchildren anymore. What should I do? — HATE BEING FILMED IN THE MIDWEST

DEAR HATE BEING FILMED: Are the cameras running all the time, or just when you are babysitting? If they are on all the time, then you are not being singled out. Because you find the idea of your son and daughter-in-law listening in on what you thought were private conversations, perhaps you should start doing the babysitting at your home instead of theirs. However, if that isn’t viable, you may either have to bite the bullet and accept the status quo or remove babysitting from the equation.

16-Year-Old Girl Disappears After Sneaking Out: Shocking Footage

0

In a troubling turn of events, a teenage girl from Florida quietly slipped out of her house in the middle of the night and has since vanished, leaving her family desperate for answers and pleading for her safe return.

Sixteen-year-old Sophia Cover went missing nearly three weeks ago from her residence in Golden Gate Estates, a location situated approximately 30 miles south of Fort Myers. Her disappearance was recorded shortly before 1 a.m. on July 31.

“There’s absolutely no chance she’d just leave us like this,” her father, Richard Cover, expressed to Gulf Coast News, adding that he refuses to accept any reason for her absence.

Firm in his conviction, he reiterated, “There’s no way. I don’t care what’s behind it.”

Security cameras at the Covers’ residence captured Sophia making her way into the night clad in a hoodie at about 12:45 a.m., navigating the darkness on her path.

‘That day, she wasn’t; it was locked. So the dogs whine. And so, I walk around, go through the pool bathroom door and that’s unlocked,’ Cover told the outlet.

‘And then I walk into her bedroom and she’s nowhere to be found.’

Sophia and her family moved to the area just four months ago, they said, adding that they don’t believe the teen is capable of running away, Gulf Coast News reported.

‘I think that she left the house because someone either convinced her to, or promised her something and I think that she’s in trouble right now. I think someone has my daughter, is what I believe.’

‘That’s what I believe, and I hope I’m wrong,’ he added through tears.

‘She’s my buddy. I thought I wasn’t going to cry man.’

According to the distraught father, Sophia’s older siblings are ‘going nuts’ and the rest of their family has been desperately trying to help bring her home.

Sophia’s aunt, Jackie Vileikis, shared on social media that the teenager left with her iPhone, which has since been turned off.

‘Sophia, if you happen to see this, please know we are extremely scared and worried about your safety. We just want to know that you’re okay and want you home safe,’ her father wrote on Facebook.

In a later post, Cover said that ‘every hour that passes is heartbreaking for our family.’

‘We are not angry. We are terrified and just want to know that Sophia is safe. Every share and every set of eyes looking for her gives us hope,’ he continued.

‘Every minute without her feels unbearable. We miss her so much and just want to know that she’s safe.’

Her father has launched an online effort to try and find Sophia and hopefully communicate with his daughter.

‘I have buried myself into finding her,’ he told the outlet. ‘The biggest thing I think is I am focused on finding her more than anything else.’

‘Everybody is looking for you, and, if you’re out there on your own, it’s really easy to come home. You can go to any police officer. You can go to any adult that is safe.’

Sophia’s great-grandmother said in a heartbreaking video posted on social media: ‘I love you, I love you, I love you. Please, come home. I want to see you again. Okay? I’m waiting for you Sophia. I want to see you Sophia. I love you. I love you. I love you.’

Sophia is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighs 115 pounds, and has long brown hair and brown eyes. Investigators say there are currently no leads on her whereabouts and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

‘Sophia, if you see this…I need you to know that I love you more than words could ever explain. There isn’t a single day that goes by that I don’t think about you. I miss your smile, your laugh, and hearing your voice. Home just isn’t the same without you here,’ her father wrote on Facebook.

‘I’m not giving up on you. I’ll keep searching, keep hoping, and keep praying until you’re home safe. No matter what’s happened or how much time has passed, you’re my daughter, and that will never change.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the scene unfolded as a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both off-duty officers, were socializing with two other 22-year-old male companions when they encountered two male and two female assailants with undisclosed ages.

An argument swiftly escalated, prompting the off-duty officers to identify themselves in an attempt to calm tensions. Unfortunately, the confrontation turned physical despite their intervention.

The 23-year-old off-duty officer had a cut on his face and nose and was taken to a hospital in good condition, Chicago police said.

The three other victims had various cuts and other injuries, but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

Chopper 7 was over the scene, where responding Chicago police officers could be seen at the beach’s entrance.

The four suspects involved in the fight were taken into custody, CPD said.

ABC7 was on the scene when one of the four people arrested was taken away in an ambulance. There was no word yet on his condition, but ABC7 crews did see that he was conscious and talking.

Police say charges are pending as they continue to investigate.
