United Flight Attendant Catches Baby Slipping From Exhausted Mother’s Lap

0

A United Airlines flight attendant is being praised for a quick-thinking act of kindness after she stepped in to help an overwhelmed mother whose baby started to slide from her lap while she slept during a flight.

The heartwarming moment was shared on Instagram by fellow passenger John Frehse, who commended flight attendant Monique Harris for her calm response on United flight 3486, traveling from Newark, New Jersey, to Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Frehse said United Airlines should be proud of Harris, explaining that the visibly exhausted new mom had nodded off just as her infant appeared to be slipping out of her arms.

According to Frehse, Harris immediately moved to catch the baby, then gently encouraged the mother to continue resting while she held the child and gave her a much-needed break.

Frehse also shared a photo appearing to show Harris holding the baby aboard the aircraft.

“All is not lost in the turbulent time,” he wrote.

Frehse tagged United CEO Scott Kirby in the post and said he has flown more than 2 million miles with the airline.

“She is an A+ employee,” he wrote. “Take note!!!”

Harris responded to the praise in the comments, saying she was moved by the attention the moment had received.

“I’m in tears,” she wrote, adding, “I never do anything for recognition.”

Harris said she “had no idea that being my normal natural self would grow into such a priceless moment,” and thanked Frehse and others for the comments.

Republic Airways, which operates flights for United and other airlines, praised Harris in an email to News Media.

“We agree with all the positive comments I saw on the post: Monique is an extraordinary colleague and flight attendant!” the carrier said.

The carrier also responded to the initial social media post, saying it was proud to have Harris on its team.

“Such a great story!” the airline wrote. “We are proud to have Monique on our team.”

United Airlines responded to the post with a teary-eyed emoji.

Iranian Twin Sisters Say They Were Tortured, With Hair Ripped Out and Bones Broken

0

Two Iranian twin sisters were allegedly subjected to brutal torture, including having their hair torn out and bones broken, after taking part in anti-government demonstrations in January, according to emerging reports.

Taraneh and Romina Rahimi were just 19 and still attending high school when masked men, reportedly acting on behalf of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), stormed in during the night and seized them from their beds.

Taraneh has since been handed a death sentence by hanging over her alleged role in the protests, while her twin sister Romina has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars.

Following their arrest, their mother, Marzieh Nourmohammadi, endured four harrowing months of uncertainty as she searched desperately for any information about where her daughters had been taken.

When she was finally allowed to see them at Dowlatabad prison in Isfahan in May, the young women were reportedly so badly injured that their own mother could barely recognise them.

Their scalps were patchy from being dragged around by their hair, while their faces appeared bruised, according to a US-based cousin.

Taraneh, who has ambitions of running her own horse stable in the future, was allegedly told that prison guards would rape Romina in front of her unless she signed a confession.

Neither of the women have been seen by their family since they were handed their sentences.

It is unclear why they were given different punishments, but the twins’ cousin, Masoud Nourmohammadi, who lives in the US state of Utah, said he struggled to understand anything done by the Islamic Republic.

‘They do not follow their own law,’ Nourmohammadi told the Guardian.

‘There is an 18-day period that lawyers can go and appeal but in a lot of [execution] cases recently that has not happened.

‘They just sentence and take the kids and execute them and hang them. So I mean, nothing, nothing really makes sense.’

The 43-year-old said he believed Taraneh was sentenced to death because of her blatant innocence.

‘You can see her eyes and you know right away that she is a kind person,’ he said.

‘My sense is they’re looking to put fear within the people, to say: “Look, no matter how fine you are, no matter how innocent you are, we can get you, and don’t come to the streets any more.”‘

At least 511 people have been executed in Iran so far in 2026, according to Norway-based NGO Iran Human Rights, including at least 29 people in connection with anti-government protests in January.

This is despite the logistical difficulties presented by the war with the US and Israel that began on February 28.

At least 16 women are among those executed.

Activists have accused the regime of using capital punishment as a means to intimidate the population in the wake of the demonstrations.

‘All executions, regardless of the charges, have a clear domestic purpose – to create fear and prevent new protests,’ IHR director Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam told AFP.

Taraneh and Romina joined the protests on 8 and 9 January in Isfahan, along with 18 million others.

A month later, the twins were dragged out of their bedrooms with bags over their heads and given no explanation.

‘The family didn’t know where they were,’ Nourmohammadi said.

‘They had no idea. They were searching for them everywhere, different courts, hospitals. Then my aunt received a call saying: “We have your girls, come to see them at the prison.”‘

Witnessing her daughters in such a state was heartbreaking for his aunt, Nourmohammadi said.

‘She did not recognise her own children: they were beaten up, badly swollen faces, bruises all over their body, broken elbows, knuckles, feet, and they basically had no hair because they would pull their hair and drag them from one cell to another cell. She found out that they had been in solitary confinement.’

Marzieh Nourmohammadi, who raised her daughters, now 20, on her own, was barred from attending the trial.

Their lawyers said Taraneh told the court that any confessions had been secured through torture.

No evidence of the sisters’ involvement in violence was provided, it is understood, and they had never participated in protests before.

‘My mum lives with me,’ he said. ‘There’s not a single second that I pass her and she’s not crying.’

Nourmohammadi, a healthcare IT specialist who arrived in the US from Iran 22 years ago, is going public with the story despite receiving death threats via text messages and social media from people who say they know his home address.

He wants his cousins’ case to instil a determination to topple the regime.

Lori Loughlin Files for Divorce From Mossimo Giannulli

0

Lori Loughlin has moved to legally end her marriage to fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, filing for divorce after more than 28 years together.

News surfaced last October that Loughlin and Giannulli, parents to daughters Olivia Jade, 26, and Isabella “Bella” Rose, 27, had separated.

The former couple became widely known for their involvement in the “Varsity Blues” college admissions scandal, after using fraudulent means to secure their daughters’ admission to the University of Southern California. Both later served overlapping prison sentences in connection with the case.

In the divorce filing, Loughlin gave the couple’s date of separation as August 31, 2025, and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for dissolving the marriage.

According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail, Loughlin stated that an agreement regarding financial support will be negotiated at a later date.

The couple signed a prenuptial agreement on October 28, 1997 – the month before they eloped – and flied an amendment to it on August 11, 2015.

Loughlin is represented by attorneys Kristina Royce – whose celebrity clientele has included Channing Tatum and Jeff Garlin – and Sarah Luetto.

The Daily Mail has contacted Loughlin’s representatives for comment.

In the initial aftermath of their split, a source claimed Loughlin left Giannulli after discovering a cache of ‘incriminating’ emails and texts on his phone.

‘Truly, the tipping point came when Lori found a bunch of text messages,’ a friend of the Full House actress sensationally alleged to Page Six.

‘Mossimo had used Lori for years,’ the insider said. ‘She was hoping maybe he would change when he got out of prison, but he got worse.’

News of the separation broke hours after a distraught-looking Loughlin was seen sharing a comforting embrace with her friend and sometime co-star James Tupper, who used to be involved with the late Anne Heche, via TMZ.

The day Mossimo’s break with Loughlin went public, he was glimpsed out and about in Beverly  Hills with 32-year-old stylist Hannah Harrison.

Harrison swung into action to clarify the nature of their relationship, insisting that her equation with the fashion designer was strictly ‘platonic,’ via Us Weekly.

‘I feel like it was bad timing,’ she said, insisting she met him for work at a supply store for his brand G/FORE ‘not knowing that his separation had been announced.’

Giannulli and Loughlin eloped two days before Thanksgiving 1997, two years after she concluded her star-making run on the smash hit sitcom Full House.

They achieved a searing degree of notoriety as a couple over the college admissions scandal, which landed both of them behind bars.

In 2019, Loughlin and Giannulli were exposed as having bribed their daughters’ way into USC, paying $500,000 to a fixer in order to falsely pass off Olivia and Bella as potential rowers on the university’s team.

The day her parents were indicted, Olivia was holidaying on the yacht of the USC trustee board’s billionaire chairman Rick Caruso, who later ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of Los Angeles against the present incumbent Karen Bass.

Although Giannulli and Loughlin initially claimed to be innocent, he ultimately pled guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and honest services and mail fraud, while she pled guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud.

Loughlin spent two months in federal prison at CI Dublin in California before being released in December 2020, days before New Year’s.

Meanwhile, Giannulli had to spend five months in prison for his role in the bribery scheme and was ultimately released in early April 2021.

Nancy Pelosi Disclosed $3M+ Bloom Energy Investment Weeks Before Stock Surge

0

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reported a sizable household investment in Bloom Energy, valued somewhere between $3 million and $12 million, only weeks before news broke that the company would be added to the S&P 500 — a development that helped push its stock sharply higher.

The trades were made through accounts owned by Pelosi’s husband, wealthy investor Paul Pelosi, according to a financial transaction disclosure the San Francisco Democrat signed on Aug. 21.

The filing shows that on July 24, a household account bought 10,000 shares of Bloom Energy in a transaction listed between $1 million and $5 million. The account also purchased 100 call options, likewise valued between $1 million and $5 million. Based on the lowest reported ranges, the two trades were worth at least $2 million combined. Bloom Energy shares closed that day at $184.89.

A second round of buying followed on July 28, when the stock had slipped to $166.84 per share. That day, the account added another 5,000 shares, valued at roughly $500,000 to $1 million, along with 100 additional call options reported in the same $500,000 to $1 million range — bringing that day’s disclosed purchases to between $1 million and $2 million.

The initial Pelosi-linked trades came after a steep pullback in Bloom Energy’s share price, while the later purchases landed on the same day the company released highly optimistic earnings results. The report included annual revenue growth of 165%, a figure that helped fuel a major rally in the stock in the days that followed.

Weeks later, on Sept. 4, it was announced that Bloom Energy will officially join the S&P 500 later this month – sending the stock up nearly 40% over the past five days.

The stock was trading at $282.10 a share Tuesday afternoon.

Pelosi has repeatedly denied accusations of insider trading. She has also voiced support for a ban on congressional stock trading – though her household account has continued to disclose hefty Wall Street transactions.

“Speaker Pelosi does not own any stocks and has no knowledge or subsequent involvement in any transactions,” a spokesperson for Pelosi’s office told The Post in a statement.

Bloom Energy – which is based in San Jose, Calif. – makes fuel cell systems, a business that has boomed alongside the rapid rise of power-hungry AI data centers.

The stock has more than doubled so far this year and is up more than 400% over the past 12 months. It has a market cap of nearly $83 billion.

Pelosi has faced heated blowback for her family’s trading activity – racking up a 65% return on her portfolio in 2023 while her venture capitalist husband made $38 million worth of stock trades in the weeks leading up to President Trump’s inauguration.

In early 2023, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) introduced a stock trading ban called the Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments Act – or the PELOSI Act.

A “Pelosi Tracker” app also tracks the trading activity of the ex-speaker and other members of Congress, with more than 20,000 “copiers” trading an estimated $44 million, according to the site.

Members of Congress and their families are required to make financial disclosures via the 2012 STOCK Act, which says trades over $1,000 must be revealed within 45 days of the transaction or within 30 days of being notified of a transaction within their accounts, whichever comes first.

Late filing penalties are minimal, with first-time fines starting at $200.

Lindsay Clancy Lawyer Rips Holdout Juror After Mistrial

0

Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney is addressing the public in the wake of her high-profile trial ending without a verdict.

Kevin Reddington, who has repeatedly defended Clancy’s character, said his client is “not evil” and appealed to President Donald Trump to grant her a pardon.

“Mr. President,” he said in a Sept. 8 interview with Good Morning America, “I would hope that you would consider this young lady, the type of person she is, what she’s been through and consider a pardon.”

In a new interview, Reddington looked back on the closely watched case, discussed the single juror who prevented a unanimous decision, and spoke about what may come next for Clancy, whom he described as an “incredible person.”

“She’s very, very intelligent, hard working,” Reddington said, noting that Clancy had spent roughly nine years as a respected labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also described her as “a wonderful neighbor, friend, wife, mother.”

Clancy is accused by prosecutors of killing her three young children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan — inside the family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on Jan. 24, 2023. Her defense team has not contested that she caused the children’s deaths, but argued at trial that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time and should be found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Following seven days of deliberation, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial Sept. 4 after the jurors were unable to reach a verdict in a case that has captivated the nation.

Lindsay Clancy Defense Attorney Details Frustration With Juror

Reddington told George Stephanopoulos Sept. 8 that he believed the final jury count was 11-1 in favor of a not guilty verdict.

Though he said he would “defend that individual’s right to be a holdout for forever,” he questioned whether the juror had been following the law.

“He had agreed, according to a note from the forelady, that he had doubt, but he would not apply the law of reasonable doubt as presented by the judge,” Reddington alleged. “That’s not right and that’s why I was upset.”

He added that he had yet to speak to any of the other jurors and had no plans to do so.

Though he backed off on earlier claims that he had “crushed” the prosecution, dismissing it as “bravado” after a long trial, Reddington maintained that the defense had been “very strong.”

Prosecutor Tim Cruz has pushed back any claims of defeat, according to CBS Austin, saying, “The facts are Lindsay Clancy killed her three children and the evidence suggested to us that she was in control of her actions when she committed those homicides.”

As prosecutors now try to decide whether to retry the case or offer a plea deal, Reddington said he was “willing to listen” to Cruz.

“I’ve known Tim for 30 years. He’s a very hard-charging prosecutor, conservative gentleman,” he told Stephanopoulos. “I hope, however, after sitting through this trial and seeing the evidence that was presented from the government as well as from the defense, that he would revisit the issue and hopefully would be able to work something out that would be acceptable to both sides.”

Patrick Clancy’s Attorney Calls Out “Destructive Defamation Campaign”

In the wake of the mistrial, Patrick Clancy’s lawyer Howard Cooper issued a statement denying speculation that he had been involved in his children’s deaths and threatening legal action against any conspiracy theorists.

“Over the past months, Patrick Clancy and his family have been subjected to a relentless, escalating and destructive defamation campaign,” Cooper noted in the statement obtained by CBS News. “This campaign of misinformation has been launched and promoted by minor celebrities, so-called influencers and outright conspiracy theorists who appear intent on boosting their own social media profiles and potential profit by publishing what they know to be outright falsehoods that Patrick was somehow involved in the death of his young children and other vile claims.”

“This campaign, now fueled by insatiable media coverage, remains at a fever pitch and has resulted in real life threats to his reputation, livelihood, and life,” he continued. “Patrick has no choice but to address this situation—with the clear goal of stopping injurious behavior, creating accountability for lies that are self-serving to the perpetrators, and being able to return his attention to what matters: preserving the memory of Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy and supporting other women facing perinatal mental health challenges.”

Though Reddington did not directly respond to Cooper’s statement, he did tell Good Morning America that the family was “very happy” together in the summer of 2022 before Clancy began suffering from postpartum depression symptoms that fall.

“She explained on a number of occasions to her mother, to her father, to her husband that she was suffering, and she was suffering horribly,” he explained. “She reached out. She called suicide hotlines twice. She went to the Women and Infant’s Hospital in Rhode Island, and was turned away because of the drugs that were prescribed to her. This girl’s life was ruined.”

When asked to address those who may feel Clancy was using postpartum depression as a rationalization for her actions that night, Reddington vehemently disagreed.

“It’s not evil. These people don’t understand,” he said. “They don’t know what she went through. They didn’t see her text messages. They didn’t see her journal.”

He added that she had repeatedly reached out to anybody who would listen but her claims were ignored.

Cruz has yet to decide whether he plans to retry the case, per WCVB.

Amazon Plane Crash Victims Identified After Five Killed

0

Authorities have released the names of the five victims who died after an Amazon-branded cargo plane overshot a runway at Miami International Airport.

The Boeing 767 cargo jet veered off the runway during an attempted landing on Sunday, crashing into two vehicles in a deadly sequence of events.

Officials said the aircraft first struck a van on airport grounds, tore through a perimeter fence and continued onto a nearby road, where it obliterated an SUV.

On Tuesday, Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz confirmed that the victims killed in the vehicles were Rolando Aleman, 55; Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, 53; Julio C Pineda, 75; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47.

All five were traveling in a van belonging to Professional Ocean Service Corp., a contract cleaning company that provides services to airlines, NBC News reported.

‘Our employees are far more than the people who work beside us each day; they are family, and they are deeply loved,’ the company said in a statement.

‘Our hearts and prayers are with every employee and every family whose lives have been forever changed. We grieve with those who lost a loved one and pray for the healing and recovery of those who were injured.’

Three other people are still hospitalized, the sheriff said. Eugenio Corredor, 79, and Ridoel Averhoff Diaz, 32, are in critical condition. Roosevelt Sebastian Perdomo Torres, 36, is in stable condition.

Two of the men were passengers in the van, and the third was injured on the ground, authorities said.

The Prime Air copilots, Joseph Carroll, 55, and Jaime Filipe Silva Molina, 37, have been released from the hospital, the Miami Herald reported.

The Amazon cargo jet slammed into a 2012 Ford van before it skidded across the ground and hit another car, Jennifer Homendy, the chair of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), said on Monday.

Homendy said seven people working for a contract airline cleaning company were inside the van. It is unclear how many were in the other car.

The plane was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico – the aircraft’s third trip of the day, according to Homendy.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but a preliminary report by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) found that the airport is not equipped with the Engineered Materials Arresting System (EMAS) that has been installed at more than 120 airports nationwide.

The system places beds of lightweight, crushable material at the end of a runway to help bring planes that overshoot the tarmac safely to a stop, the agency said.

Homendy said the plane overshot the runway, making it about 1,300 feet past the paved surface.

Terrifying dispatch audio obtained by the Daily Mail revealed the horrific moment rescuers counted the dead after the crash.

‘This aircraft overran the runway and crossed 67th Avenue. It struck a truck,’ one emergency responder said, according to the audio.

‘We do have a patient on the ground. We’re looking at surveilling the area for more patients.’

Smithsonian Chief Lonnie Bunch Announces Retirement as Museum Messaging Criticism Grows

0

The Smithsonian Institution’s top official revealed Tuesday that he plans to retire, a major leadership change that comes as the museum network faces intensifying scrutiny from the Trump administration over its management and cultural direction.

Lonnie Bunch III, who became Smithsonian secretary in 2019 after serving as the founding director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, said he intends to step away from the role before the end of the year.

“It is with very mixed emotions and heartfelt gratitude that I announce my retirement from the Smithsonian,” Bunch said in a press release. “I have spent nearly half of my life working at and being part of the Smithsonian family, and what a privilege it has been. There is no place like the Smithsonian — it has been one of the great loves of my life, and I am extraordinarily proud of what we have accomplished together.”

Hurricane Lowell Lashes Western Hawaii With Fierce Winds and Heavy Rain

0

Parts of Kauai could see rainfall totals climb as high as 24 inches.

HAWAII, USA — Hurricane Lowell lashed Hawaii’s western islands early Tuesday with powerful winds and torrential rain, raising concerns about flash flooding, mudslides and possible tornadoes.

Kauai and Niihau remained under a hurricane warning on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Oahu, Hawaii’s most populous island with nearly 1 million residents, was under a tropical storm warning.

Although Lowell’s center was tracking west of the islands and moving farther away, its reach remained broad, with tropical storm-force winds extending roughly 200 miles, according to the National Hurricane Center. At Lihue Airport on Kauai, sustained winds were recorded at just over 50 mph.

The hurricane center reported gusts as high as 80 mph. By early Tuesday, however, sustained winds had eased, and forecasters expected Lowell to continue weakening over the next several days.

Hawaii Gov. Josh Green closed schools and government offices on the three islands for Tuesday ahead of the storm. Kauai has a population of over 73,000, while Niihau has fewer than 100 permanent residents.

Damaging winds, heavy flooding and dangerous surf were expected across the islands through at least the morning and possibly all day, the National Weather Service warned.

Rainfall totals could reach up to 24 inches in some areas on Kauai.

In August, Tropical Storm Lala brushed past Hawaii and stirred up landslides, washing away about 100 homes and causing widespread power outages.

Marie downgraded but still being felt in California

What’s left of Hurricane Marie was downgraded again and is no longer considered a tropical storm.

But it was still creating dangerous surf conditions along the coast of Mexico’s Baja California and Southern California. Swells with life-threatening surf and rip current conditions will continue for the next few days, the hurricane center said.

Trump Shares Video of King Charles Appearing to Ignore Fainting Worker

0

Donald Trump has posted a selectively edited video of King Charles that appears to show the monarch ignoring a worker who fainted — a clip seemingly shared to cast Trump in a more sympathetic light.

The altered footage, uploaded to the US President’s Truth Social account yesterday, shows an Asda staff member suddenly collapsing in front of the King.

In that shortened version, Charles appears to slip his hand into his pocket before turning and walking away.

But the full video from the royal visit to Asda’s distribution centre in Bristol tells a different story, showing Charles moving to help and attempting to catch the employee as he fell.

The King then stayed nearby while the man was looked after by medical staff, and the two were later seen resuming their conversation.

The employee can later be seen expressing his gratitude to King Charles for his help and concern.

Mr Trump included the footage, which was filmed six years ago, in a montage of world leaders seeming to ignore people in distress, or being disrespectful.

In contrast, the US President is shown honouring soldiers, greeting police officers and being a doting husband to the song A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.

The three-minute video was posted yesterday, on Labour Day in the United States, and claims to depict ‘the side of Trump the media doesn’t show you’.

In addition to Charles, former US presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama and President Macron of France are portrayed in a negative light.

Mr Macron is shown walking past a ceremonial guard who collapsed outside the Élysée Palace, while Mr Biden appears to look at his watch during a ceremony.

Mr Obama is seen giving his so-called ‘latte salute’ to US marines as he steps off the presidential helicopter while holding a cup of coffee in his hand.

It is not clear whether the US president, who considers himself a good friend of the King, was aware of the video’s implication.

Mr Trump has long been an enthusiastic supporter of the Royal Family and has visited the UK on a state visit twice.

Last week, the US president said he had had a ‘good relationship’ with the King and criticised the decision of Harry and Meghan to move back to the UK from California.

Mr Trump said: ‘I’m happy about it.’

‘I was not a fan,’ he added, noting that he had a ‘very good relationship with the Queen and with [King] Charles’.

‘I thought they treated the Royal Family with great disrespect. I didn’t like it,’ Mr Trump told reporters of Harry and Meghan. ‘I didn’t like the way she acted.’

‘I thought she was terribly disrespectful to the Queen, to King Charles,’ Trump said of Meghan’s behavior and the couple’s decision to step back from their royal duties six years ago.

‘I don’t know, maybe I’m different. I wouldn’t have taken them back,’ Mr Trump said, before adding: ‘If I were the Royal Family, I would not have taken them back.’

An Asda spokesman previously said of Charles’s visit to the distribution centre: ‘We were delighted to welcome the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall to our Avonmouth depot yesterday as part of their celebration of the amazing efforts of key workers during the pandemic.

‘The magnitude of the moment was a little much for one of our colleagues, who briefly fainted, but after taking a few minutes to recover himself he returned to continue his tour and reassure everyone he was absolutely fine.

‘He handled the event like a pro – and we’re grateful to him and all our colleagues for their dedication.’

Jewish Voters Sour on Top Democrats Amid Antisemitism Fears

0

Anxiety is growing inside Democratic circles over a crucial part of the party’s coalition as the November midterm elections draw closer.

Some Jewish voters are becoming increasingly uneasy with what they see as a lack of forceful pushback from certain Democrats against antisemitism within the party’s progressive wing — a concern that could carry real consequences in competitive U.S. Senate races across the country.

Still, a poll conducted in early March by the Jewish Electorate Institute, a nonprofit 501 organization, found that close to three-quarters of Jewish voters said they still intended to support Democratic candidates.

In Michigan, Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed is trying to repair relations with Jewish voters after a difficult primary campaign in which he made comments about Jews and the state of Israel that critics found offensive.

One Michigan rabbi who spoke with the New York Times said that although his congregation is “predominantly Democratic,” many members remained divided over whom to support in the Senate race.

‘I was very disappointed in the primary season in particular that so many politicians and pundits and podcasters seem to single out Israel and American supporters of Israel for criticism,’ Rabbi Starr told the Times.

Over 400 Jewish Democrats and Independents signed a public pledge to back El-Sayed’s Republican opponent, former Congressman Mike Rogers.

El-Sayed’s campaign has made efforts to reach out to Jewish voters after the primaries.
