Dave Portnoy Fires Back at Michigan Critics After Controversial Win, Tells Haters to Look in the Mirror

    0

Dave Portnoy wasted little time firing back at critics Saturday night after Michigan pulled off what he called one of the “greatest finishes in the history of college football.”

The Wolverines opened their season with a dramatic 13-12 win over Western Michigan, a result that hinged on officials putting one final second back on the clock after a defender touched the ball with one second showing.

That ruling gave Bryce Underwood another shot at a last-gasp Hail Mary, and he delivered, finding JJ Buchanan for a 47-yard touchdown catch that sealed the victory.

Portnoy, one of Michigan’s most vocal celebrity supporters, jumped on X after the game to defend the officiating decision and push back against social media claims that the Wolverines had benefited from cheating.

“I’ve had a couple minutes to calm down,” Portnoy said, before describing the finish as one that would land “in the annals” of college football history. He praised Western Michigan’s effort, saying the “kids from Kalamazoo played their hearts out,” but insisted Michigan’s final play was legitimate. “Every time Michigan wins,” he said, “doesn’t matter if it’s a National Championship, when you go undefeated, or a masterpiece like what we just saw… all the jealousy, all the haters… ‘Oh, they cheated.’ We didn’t cheat. It was a second clear as day.”

Dave Portnoy calls out Michigan haters following controversial win over Western Michigan on Saturday night. X @stoolpresidente

“…Sometimes when the other team beats you, whether, again, National Championship, one of the great games that Hail Mary, you take your cap and you dump.
You see, you know what? You beat us fair and square. It was a hell of a game, and you be a sportsman about it. But all over social media now, every, every Tom, Dick and Harry has a voice, and chirp, chirp, chirp. And all the people who wish they could wear their winged helmet. All the people who wish they had a National Championship. All the people who wish you can win your opening game of the season in the Kyle Winningham era like that, in a historic fashion, cry and moan and bitch, and try to take it away from these kids.

“I was gonna congratulate Western Michigan. If you played hard, you beat us fair and square. When we turn the table, suddenly, when we pull the magic, the rabbit out of the hat, everyone cries and is disgusting.”

Portnoy went on to say the “crying, pouting and moaning” that he believes follows Michigan’s victories is getting “out of control.”

“So, for all the haters, look in the mirror. It’s not our fault you’re not us, ok?” he added.

The Big Ten conference went on to release a late night statement around the play clock decision that also included the video reviewed by replay officials and audio of them discussing the call.

“Following video review, it was determined Western Michigan’s #18 started his jump from an established out of bounds position (left foot) and made contact with the ball with one second remaining on the clock,” the statement read. “As shown in the provided video of what was viewed during the replay process, a side-by-side view of the play and the game clock, using a direct shot of the game clock in the stadium, was used to determine the final ruling.”

Portnoy also later shared a hawkeye view of the first long ball attempt by Michigan before they were awarded the extra second on the clock.

“Its pretty indisputable the refs made the right call. Sorry to disappoint the haters. I know you want Michigan to lose so bad it’s like acid on your tongue,” he wrote.

Michigan began their Kyle Wittingham era 1-0 and moves on to face Oklahoma on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Dutton Ranch Season 2 Release Date: When Will the Next Season Premiere?

A new week means Yellowstone fans are once again checking for updates on Taylor Sheridan’s popular spin-off, Dutton Ranch, and when the series might return with fresh episodes.

Dutton Ranch Season 1 finale spoilers ahead.

It has been nearly two months since Dutton Ranch Episode 9, “El Padrino,” left viewers with a major cliffhanger: Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) discovered that their son Carter (Finn Little) had been abducted by the cartel. Elsewhere, Beulah (Annette Bening) and Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind) were reeling from the shocking death of Rob-Will (Jai Courtney), while Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba) faced his own turmoil as his father, Mariano (Raoul Max Trujillo), returned to Rio Paloma, Texas.

With anticipation for more Dutton family drama running high, Dutton Ranch viewers have plenty of unanswered questions. Who killed Rob-Will? Is Everett’s (Ed Harris) wife really still alive? Should fans be worried about Miguel (Berto Colón)? And, perhaps most urgently, could Dutton Ranch and Marshals stage a crossover episode to rescue Carter and Tate (Brecken Merrill)? Those mysteries come right after the biggest question on every fan’s mind: Will there be a Season 2 of Dutton Ranch? And if the answer is yes, when will Dutton Ranch return with new episodes?

Wondering whether Dutton Ranch is new this weekend? Looking for Dutton Ranch Season 1, Episode 10? Curious about the show’s Season 2 renewal status, the possible Dutton Ranch Season 2 release date, whether Rip is leaving Dutton Ranch, or where to stream Dutton Ranch online? We’ve rounded up what fans need to know about the future of Dutton Ranch.

Is Dutton Ranch New This Weekend?

Sadly, no. There’s no new episode of Dutton Ranch on Paramount+ this weekend.

Dutton Ranch Total Episodes: Is There A Dutton Ranch Season 1, Episode 10?

Season 1 of Dutton Ranch consists of nine episodes. Not eight episodes, not ten episodes, only nine! Dutton Ranch Episode 9, “El Padrino,” served as the Season 1 finale, which means fans will have to wait for Season 2 to learn what the future holds for Beth, Rip, Carter, the Jacksons, and the rest of the Rio Paloma, Texas crew.

Will There Be A Season 2 Of Dutton Ranch? Dutton Ranch Season 2 Renewal Status:

You bet! On Wednesday, June 24, ahead of Dutton Ranch Episode 8, Paramount+ officially renewed the series! And it’s no surprise!

Dutton Ranch has a Certified Fresh 90% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and according to a Paramount+ press release, “Dutton Ranch cemented itself as a smash-hit by amassing 12.9 million viewers globally in the 7 days following its premiere — marking the biggest Original Series launch in Paramount+ history. The series also delivered 2.9 million total viewers during its two-episode debut on Paramount Network on May 15, making it the biggest series premiere on cable since 2023. With 1.85 million viewers for the premiere telecast alone, Dutton Ranch also ranked as the #1 cable entertainment telecast among both adults 18-49 and total viewers.”

“Dutton Ranch has resonated with audiences in a powerful way, building on the legacy of beloved characters, while establishing its own identity,” Matt Thunell, President of Paramount Television Studios, said in the release. “Thank you to our partners at Paramount+ and 101 Studios for a phenomenal first season. We look forward to bringing fans more stories from these unforgettable characters in Season 2.”

When Does The Second Season Of Dutton Ranch Come Out? Dutton Ranch Season 2 Release Date Info:

There’s no official Dutton Ranch Season 2 premiere date on the books yet, but The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that “production slated to begin early 2027.”

“We’re slated to start early 2027 to film,” Reilly told THR in July. “But the room starts up pretty quick. I think we’re going to be very much involved in the room, so the next sort of six months is all about writing it.”

Assuming production sticks to the predicted timeline, here’s hoping Dutton Ranch Season 2 will premiere in 2027. Stay tuned for more updates!

Is Rip Leaving Dutton Ranch? Is Cole Hauser Leaving Dutton Ranch?

This is a popular question from Dutton Ranch fans — especially after recent feud escalation rumors between Hauser and Sheridan — and though the two have a long history, as far as we know, Rip isn’t leaving Dutton Ranch, nor is Cole Hauser! The Yellowstone spin-off was specifically written to continue Beth, Rip, and Carter’s stories — plus, Hauser is an EP on the series. So we don’t expect to say goodbye to Beth’s partner in crime any time soon.

Who Is Dutton Ranch‘s New Showrunner?

When Dutton Ranch returns, it will have a new showrunner in Benjamin Cavell, who joined the team ahead of Season 2. Season 1 showrunner Chad Feehan departed from the series just three weeks before its premiere.

When Does Marshals Season 2 Start?

While Dutton Ranch doesn’t have a Season 2 premiere date yet, Sheridan’s other Yellowstone spin-off Marshals does! Curious when you can see Luke Grimes/Kayce Dutton back on your screen in new episodes? Marshals Season 2 premieres Sunday, October 4, 20256 on CBS, with streaming on Paramount+.

“Please don’t think for a moment that your messages have been ignored. I have read so many of them, but I honestly just don’t know what to say…

‘I’m struggling to find the words, struggling to process everything and struggling to accept that this is actually our reality…

MAFS UK star Holly Ditchfield has said ‘there are no words for her pain’ after announcing her premature twins passed away just nine days after giving birth

‘Some moments I feel like I’m going to wake up from the worst nightmare, and then I remember my boys aren’t coming home…

‘There are no words for the pain we are feeling right now, and I’m sorry if I haven’t replied. I just don’t have it in me at the moment…

‘But please know that every message, every kind word and every bit of love means more to me and Aaron than you will ever know. Thank you for loving our beautiful George and Marley with us…

‘We are just trying to take each minute, each hour and each day as it comes. Thank you for understanding.’

In her original post, Holly said Georgie passed away on Thursday at 1pm, with Marley passing at 5am the following day. They both died in the arms of their parents, Holly and her partner Aaron Summers.

In a devastating announcement on Instagram, Holly wrote: ‘My beautiful boys, Georgie & Marley. It has been the hardest, most heartbreaking, yet most magical 9 days of our lives.

‘At 1pm on 03/09/2026, our darling Georgie peacefully passed away. Then, at 5am on 04/09/2026, his beautiful brother Marley followed him.’

‘My boys both took their final breaths in the arms of me and their daddy. There is no greater privilege, and no greater pain, than holding your children as they leave this world.

‘They gave us the most precious week of our lives. A week I would live over and over again, just to have those moments with them. To hold them. To look at them. To love them. To be their mummy and daddy.

Iranian Footballers Who Defected to Australia Speak Out for First Time

    0

Two Iranian footballers who fled to Australia after refusing to sing their nation’s anthem have opened up about the new lives they are building far from home.

Atefeh Ramezanisadeh and Fatemeh Pasandideh, known as Ati and Pasand, were recently granted Australian citizenship during a private ceremony attended by Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke.

The pair were members of the Iranian women’s soccer team that staged a quiet act of defiance against the country’s authoritarian leadership, standing silently during the national anthem before a match against South Korea at Gold Coast Stadium on March 2.

Their protest came amid a brutal crackdown in Iran, where authorities have been accused of killing tens of thousands of demonstrators, and as tensions escalated involving the United States and Israel.

In the aftermath, seven players initially sought asylum in Australia after an Iranian public broadcaster branded them “wartime traitors”.

But continued pressure from Iran saw all but Ati and Pasand return to the Middle East.

The women on Sunday told 60 Minutes they haven’t contacted the team, or family members in Iran, for fear of reprisal.

‘For security reasons over these past 6 months, we decided not to talk because I don’t want to put their lives in danger,’ Pasand said.

Pasand has also lost contact with her father and brothers, who remain in Iran.

‘Since I made this decision, I have never been in contact with them but I’ve heard that they are okay,’ she said.

‘I try to get updates through people around them but I hope change happens in Iran so I can see them again.’

When pressed on whether she believed turmoil would end in Iran, Pasand said: ‘The only thing I believe is that brutality will never last forever.’

Just six months on from the devastating decision, the women are working to create new lives in Australia.

Pasand shared she watches popular children’s cartoon Bluey to learn Australian slang while Ati recently earned her Australian driver’s licence.

Both women play for Brisbane-based soccer club Wynnum Wolves but hope to return to professional teams.

It was through the team that they met their ‘second father’, club president Rabieh Krayem.

Mr Krayem had to pause his interview and wipe his tears when the 60 Minutes team told him that Ati referred to him as a father figure.

‘I’m crying now. You know, I can understand missing her father and to be compared to someone’s father – that’s a lot to take on,’ he said.

‘If I can make her life a little bit easier, make both their lives easier, that’s all I need.’

Burke on Sunday shared how difficult it was to reach out to the Iranian team following their protest.

Despite being on Australian soil, the women were kept under close guard by Iranian minders at all hours.

It was only six days after the women refused to sing the anthem that Australian authorities were able to contact them on March 8, immediately after their final match against the Philippines.

‘There were the tiniest interactions with some of our officials where we just said, ‘If you want to seek protection from Australia, we’re open to have that conversation with you’, and the seed was planted,’ Burke said.

Immigration officials were able to further help the women through a secret midnight meeting in the foyer of their Gold Coast hotel.

‘We were under so much stress. We didn’t know if we were doing the right thing. We were terrified and anxious – it was a mix of feelings,’ Ati said.

‘And the night we made the decision, none of us slept until 5am.’

Now they have citizenship, the women finally feel ‘safe’.

‘It meant everything. Getting citizenship allow us to breathe and focus on our future,’ Ati said.

‘It gave us a feeling of safety. It was a really wonderful thing to happen.’

Pasand added: ‘I am so deeply grateful to be here. It feels like my home here. Iran remains in my heart but I truly love Australia.

‘I want to be a useful person for Australia and be the best version of myself.’

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Mourn Loss of Beloved 18-Year-Old Dog Betty

Gwen Stefani is grieving the loss of Betty, the beloved dog she shared with husband Blake Shelton, after 18 years together.

“It’s with the heaviest hearts that we share our sweet betty has gone to heaven 💔🕊️🐾 she made us all smile for 18 years,” the No Doubt singer, 56, wrote on Instagram on Saturday, September 5.

Stefani’s tribute featured a musical montage of the Rottweiler mix’s most touching moments with Shelton, 50, as well as Stefani and her children, Zuma, Apollo and Kingston. The video was set to Stefani and Shelton’s duet “Nobody But You,” a fitting choice since Betty made a memorable appearance in the song’s music video.

“[Betty] made us all smile for 18 years… we’re going to miss her forever. Thank u betty for all the love + joy u brought into our lives,” Stefani added in the emotional post.

Fans quickly filled the comments with condolences, offering support and kind messages as Stefani and her family said goodbye to their longtime companion.

“Omg Im so sorry to hear about Betty…it’s hard losing a pet. Wow 18 years..she lived her best years! My prayers are with y’all. Love y’all. ❤️Thanks for sharing this with us,” one follower wrote.

Man Killed Cousin at Dinner Over Hot Enchiladas, Police Say

    0

Inset: Ervin Gutierrez (Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office). Background: Copper Hills Apartments on Spanish Bit Street Northeast in Albuquerque, New Mexico (Google Maps).

A New Mexico man is accused of fatally shooting his cousin after a dispute that allegedly began over the spiciness of the enchiladas they were eating, authorities said.

Ervin Gutierrez, 22, faces an open count of murder in connection with the death of 25-year-old Nathaniel Cavazos, the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office announced in a press release.

Gutierrez is currently being held without bond at the Albuquerque Metropolitan Detention Center.

Investigators said another cousin suggested taking the dogs for a walk in an effort to calm the situation, but the argument allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation between Gutierrez and Cavazos.

Cavazos tried to walk away from the fight, the Albuquerque Police Department said, but Gutierrez allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim several times.

Authorities responded, but Cavazos was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gutierrez turned himself in, police said.

The defendant was booked into jail on Aug. 29 and he will remain in custody ahead of his trial. It is unclear when he is next scheduled to appear in court.

9/11 Survivor Returns to the World Trade Center’s 85th Floor

    0

Greg Carafello was getting ready to join a work call from his office on the 18th floor of the World Trade Center when the building suddenly jolted around him.

The time was 8:46 a.m. on September 11, 2001 — the moment American Airlines Flight 11 struck the 110-story North Tower, sending shockwaves through the complex.

On most mornings, Carafello would not have arrived until about 9:30 a.m., but that day’s routine had changed after he took his son to school earlier than usual.

With the scale of the devastation still unclear and danger unfolding nearby, his employee Joe urged him to evacuate, despite the South Tower appearing to have escaped damage.

“Nobody knew a second plane was going to come in,” Carafello, now 66, told the Daily Mail.

The businessman grabbed his coffee, his Palm Pilot and a few personal belongings – leaving behind his checkbook and briefcase.

He headed toward the claustrophobic stairwell, which was only 2.5 feet wide. Down they went, believing they would only be gone for a few minutes.

In fact, it took them 16 minutes just to get outside.

Initially they had stopped on the first concourse, where people usually bought lunch.

‘It looked like Lebanon in ’83,’ Carafello said, referring to the suicide bombing at the US Embassy in Beirut 18 years before.

‘It was just destroyed,’ Carafello said of the North Tower, where his friend Jimmy Martello died on the 110th floor. ‘And that wasn’t the second plane, that was only the first plane.’

After seeing the damage, and ‘just wanting to get the heck out of there’ they went to the level below in an attempt to catch a train out of the city.

The level known for its packed shops was in ruins.

‘There’s no canopy, there’s nothing to stop anything from falling a quarter mile,’ Carafello said. Unlike most skyscrapers, the Twin Towers had been built with no core, leaving a wide open space that contributed to their collapse.

Left with no choice, the pair headed back up to the main concourse and sprinted across the street.

‘Some people were just walking, taking pictures, and debris was falling all over,’ the father of four said. ‘I thought they were nuts, to tell you the truth.’

Still unaware of the horrors to come, he told Joe to ring their Jersey offices and explain that they would be back in 20 minutes.

That call, just two minutes before United Airlines Flight 175 struck the tower they had been in moments earlier, was the only reason his wife, Christine, knew he was alive.

As Joe called the other offices, Carafello, who had his back to the South Tower, watched him fall to his knees.

‘I’m like: “What the hell? What are you doing?”‘

Flying just behind Carafello’s head was the second plane. Joe watched it as it slammed into the South Tower, crashing through floors 77 through 85.

At this stage everyone took off, dashing for safety as dust and debris rained down on them.

‘You knew it wasn’t an accident. It wasn’t a small plane. It wasn’t any of the stuff that in your mind,’ he said.

‘So, at that point, everybody runs.’

He and Joe took off toward South Seaport, before heading uptown. At Alphabet City they found a police officer, who they asked how to get off the island. They were told Manhattan had been sealed.

They ended up walking to the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Midtown, roughly an hour and a half from where the World Trade Center.

‘We begged them to give us a room,’ Carafello recalled. They had already been turned away from two other hotels, despite his premium memberships.

‘By this point, we were dirty and sweaty and shaky. We’re out of juice,’ he said.

They bought new clothes at the gift shop at Bull and Bear Steakhouse Bar. They went upstairs to shower before returning to the restaurant, where they watched the TV footage of the attack with the rest of the customers.

‘That’s when we started to realize the depth of what had happened,’ Carafello said.

Carafello and Joe still had to make it back home to Jersey, where Christine had been in church with friends, praying for his safe return.

He learned there was a boat that would take him to Jersey at 7.30pm.

Along the route, Carafello saw the remnants of the Twin Towers. Smoke was still rising from the ground after the buildings’ collapse. First responders were still pouring over the rubble looking for survivors.

When Carafello looked at the ruins of his old office building, he simply felt numb.

‘It had been such a stressful day that you were kind of out of emotions.’

At that moment he was left wondering just how many people had died, how many were still trapped, and what would come of Manhattan afterwards.

A total of 2,977 people were murdered by the al-Qaeda terrorists who hijacked jets across the US that day. At least 3,000 people have died from 9/11-related cancers and other conditions, according to the WTC Health Program.

It was almost midnight by the time Carafello made it safely back to his wife and four children, who were aged four to 14 years old at the time.

Save for a brief visit to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which was helping his 30 employees in the immediate aftermath, Carafello would not step foot back in Manhattan for six years.

‘You could feel it, the minute you got off the ferry, you could feel your whole body jazz up again, because of the memory,’ Carafello said.

Further to those killed directly in the attacks at least 3,000 people have since died from 9/11-related cancers and other conditions, according to the WTC Health Program

It wasn’t until 2007 that Carafello would change his mind. His son convinced him to buy his friend’s business and get back into the Manhattan market.

‘I wasn’t going to buy, because I was kind of done with New York,’ Carafello told the Daily Mail. ‘[But] he was right. So I bought the business and went back.’

On the 10-year anniversary in 2011, the 9/11 Memorial opened with two reflecting pools where the Twin Towers once stood.

Carafello began volunteering at the 9/11 Museum, educating visitors about the artifacts on display there. He watched as the new World Trade Center was built.

In April 2015, he took the extraordinary step of signing for a lease on the 85th floor of the newly constructed Freedom Tower.

Though he struggled with visiting the office at first, Carafello credits his volunteer hours with helping him.

‘You just kept going until you felt better,’ he told the Daily Mail. ‘When you’re up there, and you’re in a meeting, and you see a helicopter below you… It never bothered me before, and doesn’t bother me today at all.’

‘It’s very cathartic,’ he told the Daily Mail. ‘I’m proud of returning.’

Out of the 400 businesses inside the old World Trade Centers, Carafello’s is believed to be the only one to have made a return

‘When they first opened [the museum and new buildings], I didn’t know if … I wanted to be more involved. But it’s one of the best things I’ve done in life.

‘I still do it. I’ll do it till I’m 100.’

He believes he’s impacted thousands of lives through his volunteer work. On a single Friday, he speaks to 300 to 400 people.

‘They didn’t know the amount of fuel in the plane. They didn’t know the speed of the plane. I mean, you start hearing 540 miles an hour and 440 miles an hour and it brings to light the explosive power these things had.’

Carafello plans to mark the upcoming anniversary of the attacks by honoring the fallen at the museum. He says he will arrive for his volunteering shift at 5.30am.

‘It’s 25 years later, but it happened,’ he said. ‘It’s not a movie.’

‘This was not an accident… This was a murder scene.’
