Star-Studded Lineup: Justin Bieber, Madonna, Shakira, and BTS Headline World Cup Final Halftime Show

0

NEW YORK (AP) — Justin Bieber is set to infuse his signature style into the World Cup’s highly anticipated halftime show. This event, comparable in grandeur to the Super Bowl’s halftime spectacle, will also feature prominent performers such as Madonna, Shakira, and BTS, as announced by FIFA on Wednesday.

The lineup of performers doesn’t end there. Nigerian afrobeats sensation Burna Boy, celebrated Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and the enchanting PS22 Chorus, an elementary school choir from Staten Island, New York, will also grace the stage, with the latter group sharing the spotlight with Coldplay.

The much-anticipated 11-minute musical performance is being orchestrated by Chris Martin of Coldplay and is slated to occur during the World Cup final near New York on July 19. Beyond entertainment, the event is aligned with a noble cause, as it aims to bolster the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. This initiative is ambitiously working towards raising $100 million to enable children’s education and soccer opportunities worldwide.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Bieber remarked, “The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can. I’m grateful to be part of this Halftime Show, and even more grateful knowing it’s already helping expand access to education for children around the world.”

Among all the performances, Burna Boy’s participation holds particular significance. He is a vital contributor to this year’s official World Cup anthem, “Dai Dai,” which is led by Shakira. Merging the vibrant sounds of afrobeats and Latin rhythms, this pop anthem presents a global, multilingual appeal. In one of the verses, Shakira energetically acknowledges some of the world’s renowned soccer teams: “Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia,” she chants enthusiastically, followed by “Mexico, Japan, Korea, Netherlands.”

“The FIFA World Cup is one of the few moments that truly brings the entire world together,” Burna Boy said in a statement. “To represent Africa on the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show is a privilege and a responsibility that I don’t take lightly.”

And while the Super Bowl is famed for its halftime show, such performances are not commonplace in soccer, with events like the Champions League final featuring a pre-match concert.

This year’s World Cup halftime performance will also feature some characters from “Sesame Street,” as well as Muppets like Kermit and Miss Piggy.

Kingsport Hosts 21st Annual Legislative BBQ: Highlights from Wednesday’s Event

In Kingsport, Tennessee, residents had the chance to receive a firsthand update on this year’s legislative session during a special event on Wednesday evening. Prominent lawmakers gathered to share insights and engage with the community in a casual setting.

The 21st annual Legislative BBQ kicked off at 5:30 p.m. at Cleeks Farm, creating a welcoming environment for people across the Tri-Cities area to connect with their elected representatives amidst the laid-back ambiance of a cookout.

Among the speakers were influential figures including State Senator Bobby Harshbarger, State Representatives John Crawford, Timothy Hill, and Bud Hulsey, as well as Comptroller Jason Mumpower. Members of the Tennessee Chamber were also present, contributing to the dialogue and discussion.

“This event mirrors the experience of a favorite summer barbecue with friends,” noted Nicole Austin, Chief Public Affairs Officer at the Kingsport Chamber. “Over the decades, it has become a cherished community tradition.”

Harshbarger spoke with News Channel 11 about some of his plans moving into next year’s session.

He said this past session was busy and he’s going to take time to put together his agenda.

“In all full transparency, I really don’t have any agenda items, per se,” Harshbarger said. “For me personally, you know, I did take a pretty heavy lift this last session dealing with insurance companies, vertical integration. So this year, I might try to look at something a little bit, take a little bit less bite out of the apple.”

Harshbarger added that the upcoming session will include a lot of change.

“In the Senate, we will have new leadership. So we’ll have a new lieutenant governor that could equal new chairmen, that could equal new committees. So it will be exciting. And on top of that, we’ll have a new governor, whoever that might be. So there’ll be a lot of change, new commissioners, new department heads. So time will tell the closer we get to the second week in January,” Harshbarger told News Channel 11.

Harshbarger added that there two things he is looking to accomplish this session.

“One thing that I’ve been personally looking at is regional airport development, specifically with our smaller airport, such as Tri-Cities, Chattanooga, Jackson Airport. So that’s something I want to try my best to increase traffic so we increase tourism. We increase economic development that way,” Harshbarger told News Channel 11.

The 115th General Assembly convenes on Jan. 12.

Todd Meade and Tyler Hughes of the Empty Bottle String Band were entertainment for the event.

Over 30 Injured as Maryland Transit Bus Collides with Building Near Baltimore

A public bus accident near Baltimore, Maryland left over 30 individuals injured on Wednesday. Emergency responders extricated one critically injured person, who was then taken to a nearby hospital, according to local authorities.

Local news outlet Fox 45 News reported that first responders were deployed to the scene following a crash involving a Maryland Transit Administration bus on Reisterstown Road in Pikesville.

Officials from Baltimore County stated that “numerous civilian vehicles” were part of the collision, with at least one vehicle overturning during the incident.

Responders had to rescue two individuals who were trapped, one inside the bus and another in a car, as reported by officials.

A building engineer was en route to the crash, the Baltimore County Fire Department said.

A second mass casualty incident alarm was issued shortly after the crash, officials said.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said he was monitoring the situation.

“Dawn and I are keeping everyone impacted in our hearts and prayers. We are deeply grateful for our first responders who acted with speed and skill to ensure the safety of our neighbors,” he wrote on X. “We’ve been in close coordination with local officials to provide any support needed on the ground.”

The Maryland State Highway Administration said roads near the crash were closed as crews responded. Drivers were urged to use alternate routes.

The popular fast-food restaurant is providing Chick-fil-A One members with a complimentary medium-sized order of waffle fries between July 7 and July 13, while supplies are available.

To take advantage of this offer, customers need to engage in the limited-time “Spot the Cows” digital game on the Chick-fil-A mobile app.

Once the task is completed, the reward will be placed in the app’s “Rewards” tab and can be redeemed either through a mobile order or by scanning a QR code at participating locations.

The promotion comes ahead of Cow Appreciation Day on July 14, an annual event the chain has used for years to offer special promotions for customers.

The chain announced last month that it was bringing back several seasonal favorites, including the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich, a lineup of Pineapple Dragonfruit drinks and peach-flavored desserts. The items are available now.

The Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich features a spicy chicken filet topped with pimento cheese, honey and pickled jalapeños.

The Pineapple Dragonfruit lineup includes lemonade, Frosted Lemonade, Sunjoy iced tea and a Pineapple Dragonfruit Sprite drink.

The peach offerings include the returning Peach Milkshake and Peach Frosted Lemonade.

Last week, a dad of three went viral for sharing a budget-friendly ordering strategy that kept his family’s Chick-fil-A meal under $45.

Shocking Twist: Big Tigger’s Wife Alicia Brown Arrested Amid Child Custody Battle – Father Speaks Out

Alicia Denise Brown, the spouse of well-known media personality Big Tigger, finds herself in significant legal peril following her arrest in Georgia. She is wanted on kidnapping-related warrants connected to a child custody issue in Maryland.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were alerted to be on the lookout for Brown’s vehicle Monday night as it traversed Interstate 85. With the help of the Georgia State Patrol, authorities stopped the vehicle near Exit 177 and apprehended Brown.

According to law enforcement, Brown was taken into custody without resistance. Fortunately, two children who were with her in the vehicle were unharmed and safely recovered.

Brown is sought by the Baltimore County Police Department due to kidnapping warrants related to her daughter’s disappearance in 2019. Additionally, she faces a severe charge of interfering with child custody in Fulton County. Maryland officials have stated their plans to extradite her.

After her arrest, Big Tigger made an appearance on an Atlanta radio show, revealing that he had been informed by a detective of her detention.

Although investigators have not announced that Ailea has been found, Williams said he believes his daughter is alive.

“She’s definitely alive. I can confirm that,” he said. “I’ve always known that.”

Williams admitted the arrest has brought mixed emotions because the person now in custody is still Ailea’s mother.

“I hate it had to be who they have in custody because that’s still her mom,” he said. “All of this was for nothing. All of this was for absolutely nothing.”

The father also thanked everyone who has supported the search for Ailea over the past seven years by sharing her story and helping keep her case in the public eye.

He ended the interview with an emotional message directed to his daughter.

“I still miss you. I can’t wait to see you,” Williams said. “I’m waiting, and I’ll be here, and I’m willing to go at whatever pace you want to go. I miss my daughter.”

Brown’s arrest comes just weeks after she and her husband, Atlanta radio personality Big Tigger, made headlines over their own custody dispute involving the son they share together. The radio host recently spoke publicly about missing his son amid the family’s ongoing legal battle.

Authorities have not released additional information about Ailea whereabouts, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Outrage Erupts as Judge Redacts Evidence in Case Involving Charlie Kirk’s Family

0

The family of Charlie Kirk has called for the complete playback of testimony from Tyler Robinson’s transgender partner in court, following a judge’s decision to partially redact it.

Robinson, facing allegations of assassinating Kirk, is currently undergoing a preliminary hearing stretching over a week. Prosecutors aim to establish sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.

If convicted of the alleged murder during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025, the 23-year-old Robinson could be sentenced to death.

On Wednesday, Judge Tony Graf determined that a video testimony from Robinson’s partner and roommate, Lance Twiggs, could be shown to the public. However, he allowed an approximately 80-second segment to be omitted, which the prosecution intends to edit and present in court on Thursday.

In response to the judge’s decision, a representative from the Kirk family expressed concerns in court, stating, “A lack of transparency and openness will breed doubt and distrust in the judicial process, which benefits no one.”

‘That’s not what any of us believe should happen here and we’d ask the court to consider the position of the family and making this decision,’ the representative added.

Robinson’s defense argued that portions of the video are irrelevant and that playing it could impact his right to a fair trial, and they submitted a 20-page transcript of the interview, along with proposed redactions.

The testimony in question comes from two interviews police conducted with Twiggs, one of which occurred on September 12, the day after Robinson turned himself in, and the other on April 20.

Kirk’s widow, Erika, and his parents, Robert and Kathryn, have been at court every day this week for the evidence hearing.

Prosecutors on Wednesday also showed a video of Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin turning himself in to cops.

Robinson has remained in custody since his family convinced him to turn himself in after recognizing him in surveillance photos shared nationwide during a frenzied manhunt for Kirk’s killer.

The video of Robinson turning himself in was introduced as evidence while Utah State Bureau of Investigation Agent Brian Davis was testifying.

The video depicts Robinson, dressed in a maroon shirt, jeans and a hat, in a room in the Washington County Sheriff’s Office while his parents and friend waited.

Davis said after Robinson and his parents were interviewed, Robinson was placed under arrest.

He also added that he interviewed Robinson’s mother, and other law enforcement officers interviewed Robinson and Robinson’s father.

A family friend who came in with the Robinsons also was interviewed, Davis said

The clip was one of several presented during days of testimony to decide whether the case should proceed to trial.

On Tuesday, prosecutors presented bombshell evidence that they say places Robinson at the scene of the murder.

In surveillance allegedly showing Robinson moments before Kirk was killed, the suspect was seen walking with an apparent limp – keeping his right leg straight as he climbed stairs on the way to the ‘snipers perch’ on a nearby rooftop.

The video blew a hole in conspiracy theories that claim Robinson ‘never set foot on the campus.’

Former Utah State Bureau of Investigation agent David Hull described the footage as it was played to court.

He revealed that Robinson spoke with members of Kirk’s group, Turning Point USA, and got Chick-fil-A before the shooting, then changed his clothes before the murder.

On Monday, Utah Valley University police officer Chris Bagley – the first officer at the scene – testified that he was near the stage when Kirk was hit by a single bullet in the neck, sending the crowd scrambling for safety.

Bagley described the moments as ‘chaotic,’ but said he quickly realized there was a raised roof across from where Kirk was shot that could have been where the assassin fired from.

He testified that he raced to the rooftop of the Losee Center building and found a ‘sniper pad,’ with the gravel on the roof imprinted from where the suspect had laid down to take the fatal shot.

The weapon was described as a bolt-action rifle with one spent round. It was found after in a wooded area near where Kirk was shot and, according to police, a towel wrapped around the weapon tested positive for Robinson’s DNA.

Investigators have also claimed to have found bullet casings engraved with political messages in the gun.

Ariana Grande and Ricky Alvarez: Was Their Tumultuous Whole Foods Trip Planned?

After Ariana Grande’s recent breakup with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, the pop star has been seen out and about with former boyfriend Ricky Alvarez. Although the pair was observed sharing a meal in Texas and running errands together in Florida, not everyone is convinced a romantic reconciliation is on the horizon. Skeptics suggest it might even be a calculated PR move.

In light of these sightings, an expert has stepped forward with insights into Grande and Alvarez’s interactions during a visit to Whole Foods.

Inbaal Honigman, a well-known body language analyst, has been lending her expertise to the media for over twenty years. Her analyses have been featured across various platforms, such as Big Brother’s Little Brother, Elle Magazine, and talkSPORT radio.

Commenting for Casino.org, Honigman observed in a conversation with Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “The photos of Ariana and Ricky’s grocery outing do not suggest romance. Instead, they hint at a complex relationship between the two. There are clear indicators they are not romantically involved: in none of the images are they facing one another, their body language isn’t synchronized, and there’s an absence of mutual gaze.”

“When two people are romantically linked or passionately involved, they naturally lean into each other. Communication between them would be marked by simultaneous emotions, such as laughing or frowning together, showcasing a shared connection.”

Honigman continued, “Here, we have chaos. The messy, misaligned, chaotic body language screams that this is a setup … both Ariana and Ricky move in such different ways to one another, as to suggest that there is no emotional connection between them at all. When examining the body language used by Grande and Alvarez during this Whole Foods trip, their feet are all over the place, their glances rarely meet, and each of them wears an entirely different facial expression. They’re not in a relationship.”

The expert broke down what she says is really going on by examining their demeanors, noting, “Ricky is confused. His facial expression befuddled, he flashes his teeth, as his dropped jaw and parted lips spell uncertainty. His furrowed brow further determines that he’s not sure what they’re even doing there. Why are they at the shops instead of ordering food? Ricky is unsure … This show of productivity would appear to suggest that Ricky himself doesn’t know why he’s there with Ariana, and what purpose this shopping trip serves.”

As for Ariana, Honigman pointed out that she “constantly moves, seen moving shopping bags from cart to car, she is wearing an eerie, fixed expression, like a haunted doll. Ariana is smiling, but the smile is excessive for the occasion. There’s no call for such joy while nipping to the shops. Every muscle in her face is taut, lips stretched, eyebrows raised, teeth gleaming. In all of the photos from that scene, her smile never drops or changes. It remains fixed to her face in an unnatural way.

“This smile is frozen, which makes it appear inauthentic, and in addition, she’s not smiling at any specific person, which adds to the eerie nature of the smile. She’s not looking at Ricky, so who is this smile for? Who is Ariana wearing this expression for? It would appear that Ariana’s faux chipper smile, paired with her leadership stance, is constructed especially for the cameras.”

Honigman concluded that “The whole trip is fake, and is meant to create a specific impression. Grande is the one in the lead, stepping ahead of Alvarez at times, giving instructions and leading with action, which lets us know that the shopping trip was her idea. Her feet move non-stop. She never pauses to discuss the grocery-loading strategies with Alvarez.

“Ariana Grande has orchestrated a trip to the shops that shows how happy and domestic she is, recruiting Ricky Alvarez as her helper, in order to send out a message. She’s letting someone know that she’s moved on, even though this is not the truth. Ricky is not there as a partner, but more as an employee, following instructions and falling in line.”

Showbiz Cheat Sheet acknowledges that conditions and cultures can impact body language and is sensitive to all backgrounds.

Police Transfer Incident Leaves Husband of Missing Bahamas Woman Injured

0

In a surprising turn of events, the husband of a Michigan woman who vanished from a boat in the Bahamas reportedly fell overboard during a police transfer, according to his lawyer.

Attorney Terrel Butler revealed that 59-year-old Brian Hooker experienced a fall into the water and sustained knee pain along with abrasions on Wednesday.

Butler explained that Hooker, who was handcuffed, was unable to maintain his grip for safety due to the rough conditions encountered during the transfer.

Reports from Fox News indicate that the 59-year-old is currently being transported to Rand Hospital for additional medical assessment and care.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hooker was detained by Bahamian authorities following the mysterious disappearance of his wife, Lynette, who went missing while they were boating in the region’s waters.

He was detained on the Abaco islands five days after he returned from the expedition without her, claiming she fell overboard.

From Witness to Suspect

Authorities first interviewed Brian and released him, then brought him back in as a witness for further questioning.

He was later brought in for questioning a third time, as a suspect, according to his lawyer.

The Royal Bahamas police said Brian was questioned ‘on probable cause’ and was taken into custody as a suspect in connection with his wife’s disappearance, but he has not been formally charged.

The couple were experienced sailors who had been traveling together for more than a decade, often documenting their life at sea on social media, authorities said.

On Saturday evening, they took out an eight-foot motorboat from Hope Town in the Bahamas, but only Brian returned.

He told authorities that his wife fell overboard with the boat keys as they were returning to their yacht ‘Soulmate’, causing the engine to shut off and forcing him to paddle to the shore.

Unpredictable Seas

In a statement to the Daily Mail, Brian Hooker said he is ‘heartbroken’ by his wife’s disappearance, describing the incident as a ‘boat accident in unpredictable seas and high winds.’

‘Despite desperate attempts to reach her, the winds and currents drove us further apart,’ Brian said. ‘We continue to search for her and that is my sole focus.’

Brian’s attorney said his client ‘categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing’ in his wife’s disappearance, saying he ‘has been cooperating with the relevant authorities as part of an ongoing investigation.’

The couple’s distraught daughter called for a full investigation into the tragedy after she said her parents went through ‘prior issues’ before her mother’s disappearance.

Lynette Hooker’s mother, Darlene Hamlett, said following Brian’s arrest late Wednesday that she was ‘glad to hear’ about the arrest, but declined further comment, saying she was seeking more information.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hamlett said she wants to hear more from her son-in-law about how Lynette vanished.

The couple had been married for more than two decades and lived in Onsted, Michigan.

She Grew Up on the Water

Online records gave Brian Hooker’s age as 58, and the reason for the discrepancy wasn’t immediately clear.

‘I’m going to be interested in what he says, because I haven’t heard from him in almost two days,’ Hamlett said.

‘Our family grew up on water and so Lynette her whole life has been near lakes, on boats, sailing and swimming.’

‘It would be a miracle if [she’s rescued], but I’m still counting on one,’ Hamlett added.

On Tuesday, Lynette’s daughter Karli Aynesworth called for a full investigation into the events leading up to her mother’s fall.

‘There have been prior issues brought to my attention, which may be important for any thorough investigation,’ she told Fox News Digital.

‘If this truly was an accident, I can understand and live with it,’ she added.

‘However, there needs to be an intensive review of the facts and circumstances of this tragic incident before that can be determined.’

Aylesworth also told CBS that her mother is a seasoned sailor and swimmer, with over a decade of experience on the water.

She is unable to wrap her mind around how Lynette fell overboard and vanished.

Disturbing Discovery: Children Rescued from Filthy Northeast Philadelphia Home Amid Dead Animals

Editor’s Note: This article has been revised to remove a previously included video featuring unauthorised images. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.

PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — A disturbing investigation is underway in Northeast Philadelphia where two young children were found living in appalling conditions. The discovery was made by authorities at a home located on the 7100 block of Whitaker Avenue.

Sources indicate that federal agencies were on-site executing a search warrant connected to allegations of threats against the White House.

Officials reported that upon attempting to enter the residence, investigators were met with a powerful stench so overwhelming that a hazardous materials team needed to be deployed to proceed with the search safely.

Inside, officials discovered an 8-month-old infant and a 5-year-old child. Authorities noted that both children exhibited visible bruising and insect bites. They were promptly taken to a nearby hospital to receive medical care and assessment.

Investigators also discovered nearly 40 cats inside the home, several of which were dead, along with at least one deceased dog. Crews were later seen removing large amounts of trash from the property as part of the investigation. Neighbors said they had noticed a persistent foul odor coming from the home.

“A horrible stench every time you would walk. You could smell it from across the street,” said Vex Holmquist, a neighbor who lives nearby.

In addition to the unsanitary living conditions, investigators reportedly recovered several firearms from the residence.

Jacob Holmquist, a resident in the area, stated, “I really don’t think what they did was right. It’s disgusting, and I’m struggling to put it into words how awful that is.”

Authorities said both the children’s mother and father were taken into custody and are facing child endangerment charges. Officials have not released additional information regarding any potential federal charges connected to the search warrant.

The two children have since been placed in the care of the Department of Human Services while the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities continue to work to determine how the children came to be living in such hazardous conditions.

Egypt Coach Speaks Out on Injustice After Dramatic Comeback Victory Against Argentina

0

Egyptian coach Hossam Hassan has voiced strong discontent, asserting that his team was “cheated” out of a World Cup quarter-final berth after Argentina’s dramatic late rally overturned a two-goal deficit in their Round of 16 match.

The Pharaohs held a commanding 2-0 lead with just 11 minutes remaining against the reigning champions, teetering on the brink of one of the most monumental upsets in World Cup history, only to concede three late goals and exit the tournament.

In a passionate press conference following the defeat, Hassan declared: “I’m not going to sugarcoat it with talks of misfortune. Today, we were cheated in an unjust manner and faced unfair treatment.”

While Egypt was leading 1-0, a goal by Mostafa Zico was disallowed after the VAR identified an earlier foul on Lisandro Martinez during the play.

Zico would later extend Egypt’s lead, positioning them tantalizingly close to their first-ever entry into the World Cup quarter-finals by scoring again in the 67th minute.

Argentina hit back with a goal by Cristian Romero in the 79th minute, followed by an equaliser by Lionel Messi, who had a first-half penalty saved. It was Messi’s eighth goal of the tournament, and he now leads the Golden Boot ladder.

But the controversy did not end there, with Egypt believing they should have been awarded a penalty for a pull by Alexis Mac Allister on Hamdy Fathy in the build-up to Argentina’s winner, scored by Enzo Fernández.

“We haven’t seen respect or fair play. There has not been respect or fair play,” Hassan said.

“A penalty was ruled out, was not even checked by VAR. A second goal was remarkably disallowed. There has not even been a VAR check when we have all seen the image of the [shirt] being pulled back.”

Hassan said he would not watch any more matches of the tournament.

“I am not going to continue following the matches of this World Cup, watching the matches of this World Cup,” he said.

“This is my own way of speaking up.”

‘They wanted Messi’

After Yasser Ibrahim’s header put Egypt in front, Argentina were awarded a penalty for a trip on Nicolas Tagliafico.

Messi’s problems with World Cup penalties continued as his effort was saved by Mostafa Shobeir.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has now failed to score four of his eight non-shootout spot-kicks at the World Cup, including two misses at this tournament.

Hassan speculated that the officials had been put under pressure to keep one of the biggest names in the competition.

“Perhaps they wanted to keep the world champions in the competition. Perhaps they wanted Messi to stay in the running,” he told BeIn Sports.

“In football, there are sometimes external factors that go beyond the technical aspects. The world champions received support at every level.”

Hassan also complained about the scheduling of the match for a midday kick-off (2am AEST), just four days after both sides had won their Round of 32 matches.

“Whoever schedules those matches has never played football. You never schedule a game for 12pm. At noon you go for a walk or to eat brunch, you do not go to play football.

“When are the players supposed to eat? At 7.30am?

“There have been a lot of things to be questioned on and off the pitch.”

The controversy comes a day after USA forward Folarin Balogun was cleared to play in his side’s 1-4 loss to Belgium, after his one-game ban was suspended for a year following an intervention by US President Donald Trump.
