Jalen Brunson’s Sister Responds to Critics Following Knicks’ NBA Championship Victory

0

While Jalen Brunson remained silent about his critics after securing the NBA Finals MVP, his sister, Erica, was not as reserved.

The morning following the Knicks’ historic victory, marking their first championship in over five decades, Erica took to X to confront those who doubted her brother’s ability to lead a team to glory.

The doubters were silenced spectacularly on Saturday night when Brunson delivered a stunning 45-point performance in the decisive Game 5.

Among those Erica addressed was Becky Hammon, coach of the Las Vegas Aces, who had remarked in 2023 that Brunson was too undersized to be a team’s primary star.

Erica responded to Hammon’s past criticism with a pointed tweet, simply asking, “Now what?”

Erica then reposted a clip from Colin Cowherd’s show “The Herd” where the longtime sports personality claimed Brunson was “a number two, on a great team a three.”

“Unfortunately I’m petty and idc. WHAT. NOW!!! Where will the goal post move now?” Erica wrote.

It’s going to be difficult for Brunson’s critics to keep it up. With his huge performance in the closeout Game 5 and the upswing the Knicks have been on since his arrival in free agency in 2022, Brunson has cemented his place as one of the greatest Knicks in recent history.

In the past four years with Brunson, the Knicks have won at least one playoff series every season. In the 21 seasons before the three-time All-Star? The Knicks won one playoff series.

After the Finals win, Brunson was asked about those who have claimed he isn’t a 1A player.

“I didn’t respond to them then, I’m damn sure not gonna respond to them now,” Brunson said pointedly.

Germany Dominates with 7-1 Victory Over Curacao: Havertz Leads Nagelsmann’s Team in Commanding World Cup Performance

0

For the small Caribbean nation with a population comparable to that of Middlesbrough, there will always be a cherished memory of a Sunday afternoon in Houston. Those nestled within the two small clusters of blue supporters can proudly claim they witnessed their team score against the four-time World Cup champions.

In that exhilarating moment, it felt as though we had stepped into a different reality. The jubilant celebrations by the Curacao journalists seemed so intense, there was a momentary fear they might topple over the plastic barriers separating the press area from the fans. Enthusiasts of the Blue Wave, as the team is affectionately called, were overjoyed. Just as their squad launched another assault on the German lines, the Moroccan referee paused for a hydration break, and the stadium’s brass and string ensemble began to play.

It was a scene of delightful chaos. Yet, this break, which was essential, inadvertently disrupted the momentum just when Curacao appeared poised to seize the advantage. For a brief time in Houston, the Germans found themselves on the back foot.

The match had an ‘Alamo-like’ vibe from the outset, with Kai Havertz finding space and the Curacao defense unsure of how to counteract him. However, Curacao’s players tackled fiercely, as if the pride of their island was on the line, and they were swift on the counter-attack.

Livano Comenencia, playing for FC Zurich, scored a goal that highlighted a well-documented frailty in Germany’s defense. Their offensive focus leaves them vulnerable to exploitation by more adept teams. In the crucial moment, Nico Schlotterbeck’s nonchalance allowed Comenencia to capitalize, and Manuel Neuer’s lapse in judgment was evident as well.

The Caribbean island scored a stunning equaliser to make it 1-1 midway through the first half

None of which can obscure an emphatic opening from a side who arrived here chastened by failing to progress from their past two World Group stages. A side who demonstrated the galaxy of attacking talents in the way they move for each other to open up space. Havertz’s contribution was the finest.

For those of a Liverpool disposition, there was a reminder of what a confident Florian Wirtz can looks and plays like in a successful attacking team. Not just the delicious weight of the pass which sent in the Borussia Dortmund player Felix Nmecha to open the scoring, and the shot he bent a few inches wide soon afterwards. An easy poise and awareness were restored. Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have looked at Nmecha but a £60million price tag looks prohibitive. He looked like he could make up for Germany’s lack of a natural centre forward.

Havertz, who converted the third from the spot after Nathaniel Brown’s corner was glanced on by Nico Schlotterbeck, is the leader now. Behind him, Jamal Musiala looked like he has something to bring, too. He deconstructed Jurgen Klopp’s suggestions that he is not fully enough rehabilitated from a broken leg sustained at last summer’s Club World Cup to warrant a starting place. The Bayern Munich player was sharp, cutting inside to curl a fourth.

But it was the intuitive movement and incisive interplay which really struck you, as German pulled their opposition’s defenders apart. Deniz Undav’s flick into the path of Nathaniel Brown, who volleyed in the fifth, was divine. The finish, excellent for a left-back, explains why Brown, who is close to joining Bayern Munich, has been an Arsenal target.

It was a becalmed stadium by then, a training routine devoid of much atmosphere, with a German Mexican wave surpassing any noise the Blue Wave contingent could muster and the way FIFA has priced out many who might have been here for Curacao revealed itself as a scandal. There were 2,000 empty seats.

The Dutch had done all they could to support the island, their former colony, which remains an autonomous part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. All but one of the team were born in the Netherlands and five of the players in Ronald Koeman’s Oranje side, including Justin Timber and Nathan Ake, could also have played for them. A few of such calibre and they might perhaps have nicked a point or two out here, though are unfortunate to find themselves facing Ivory Coast and Ecuador now. They will be struggling.

Germany showed no mercy in the second half, netting four times to extend the lead to 7-1

Germany showed no mercy in the second half, netting four times to extend the lead to 7-1

Somehow, Dick Advocaat, managing the side at the age of 78, 28 years after leading the Dutch team to USA ’94 as a 50-year-old, must bring some order to the five-man back line who were eventually overrun. It was a question of how long they could maintain their defensive intensity. The second half was not long gone when they ran out of fuel.

Havertz carved out the sixth, squaring a ball Deniz Undav squeezed past defenders on the line, then raced through to despatch the seventh. There will be moments for the German coaching team to comb through on Monday. A free-kick by Jeremy Antonisse which was missed by Joshua Kimmich, allowing Leandro Bacuna a header which he sent over the top.

But for a Germany whose tournament prowess had become lost, this is a most blessed restorative. That brief mid-afternoon aberration in the Texan sunshine will be forgotten.

Trump Criticizes Netanyahu in Profanity-Laced Birthday Address

0

U.S. President Donald Trump has once again voiced significant frustration with Benjamin Netanyahu, the leader of Israel, one of the United States’ closest allies. These remarks come as President Trump prepares to celebrate his milestone 80th birthday at the White House.

According to Barak Ravid, a reporter for Axios, Trump expressed his displeasure by stating that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu lacks sound judgment. This revelation was shared during a conversation with Ravid, excerpts of which were posted on the social media platform X.

Ravid reported that Trump said, “Why did Bibi have to go through with that attack? I was incredibly upset. I let him know. He has no judgment whatsoever. I made sure he understood that.”

Despite the tensions, Trump assured Ravid that the U.S.-Iran agreement aimed at ending the ongoing conflict remains on schedule for signing this Sunday. This assurance comes amid an Israeli strike in Beirut and threats of retaliation from Iran.

The Israeli military reported that Hezbollah launched three projectiles aimed at northern Israeli communities earlier in the day. This act was labeled as a clear violation of the existing ceasefire agreement.

They responded on Sunday by attacking ‘terrorist targets of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the Dahiyeh neighborhood of Beirut, in response to Hezbollah’s firing into Israeli territory,’ per Netanyahu and Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz.

Following the attack, the US President took to his Truth Social platform, stating: ‘This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran.

‘Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and should not disrupt this important process.

‘We are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon, and all sides should stand down. There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel.

‘This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace — Let’s not blow it! Thank you for your attention to this matter.’

Netanyahu’s office earlier said that the Israeli military had ‘carried out strikes in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut against terrorist targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organisation, in response to Hezbollah’s firing toward Israeli territory.’

Israel’s military added that it had ‘precisely struck’ a Hezbollah infrastructure site in Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Beirut that is regarded as a stronghold of the militant group.

There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah on Israel’s statement. However, the group said it had launched missiles and drones towards Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.

Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reported that one strike hit an apartment in the Ghobeiry neighborhood of Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Images from the scene showed plumes of smoke and dust rising above the area, while debris littered nearby streets as residents searched through the aftermath.

Israeli officials, including Netanyahu, have repeatedly warned that Israel would target Beirut’s southern suburbs if Hezbollah attacked northern Israeli communities.

Trump is celebrating his 80th birthday today, June 14, at the White House, as one of his best friends Dana White hosts a UFC fight on the White House grounds.

About 4,000 of Trump and the UFC’s closest friends are expected to be seated on the White House grounds, as tens of thousands more fans attend the fight and Fan Fest on The Ellipse just outside of the White House perimeter.

Per Trump’s schedule shared by the White House with members of the media, the President is expected to have a celebratory dinner with his family at 5.30pm.

He is then planning to attend the UFC Freedom 250 VIP Reception at 7pm and the fights themselves starting at 7.45pm.

After the first punch is thrown at 8pm, a total of seven fights are expected to take place, lasting into the early hours of Monday morning.

Inside the Love Story of JD and Usha Vance: Unveiling Their Most Intimate Quotes on Marriage and Family

Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have shared a rare glimpse into their 11-year marriage, detailing their family life and the unique journey that has influenced their relationship, both before and during his political endeavors.

The couple’s story began at Yale University’s School of Law in 2010, where they first met. They tied the knot four years later. Before JD became President Donald Trump’s running mate in the 2024 election, they welcomed their first three children. In 2026, they joyfully announced Usha’s pregnancy with their fourth child.

Read on for insights into JD and Usha’s reflections on their shared life:

J.D. Vance's Wife Usha Vance Explains Why They Decided to Have Baby No. 4 in Rare Interview

Usha Vance, the Vice President’s wife, recently shared her thoughts on growing their family. “People often ask if we’re considering a fourth child, and I’ve never ruled it out,” Usha, 40, disclosed in an interview with NBC News set to air on Monday, March 30. “I grew up…”

JD and Usha Vance Address Marriage Speculation

Speculation about their marriage surfaced online when Usha was seen without her wedding ring in November 2025. Addressing the rumors, a representative for Usha told People on November 22 that “as a mother of three young children, Usha frequently does dishes, gives baths, and sometimes forgets her ring.”

JD, for his part, shut down the speculation the following month in an interview with NBC News.

“Our marriage is as strong as it’s ever been,” JD said, noting that he and Usha “get a kick out of” the speculation. “With anything in life, you take the good with the bad. You accept that there are some sacrifices and there are some very good things that come along with it, too.”

Usha Vance Opens Up About Baby No. 4

The Vances — who share sons Ewan and Vivek, as well as daughter Mirabel — announced in January 2026 that they are expecting their fourth child, another son.

“People have asked me if we’re going to have a fourth baby, and I’ve never closed the door on that,” Usha told NBC News in a rare interview in March 2026. “We did feel very complete with a third child, in many ways. … But as time passed, I realized that I was feeling more and more excited about that possibility.”

She added, “I knew that I’d be happy if we only had three kids, and I knew that I’d be happy if we had four. And so here we are.”

Usha will be the first second lady to give birth in office since Ellen Colfax in 1870.

JD Vance Credits Charlie Kirk’s Death as a Turning Point to Expand Their Family

In his 2026 memoir, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, JD reveals that the pair’s decision to have another baby came after the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed in September 2025 at age 31.

“As my wife held Charlie Kirk’s widow on the first day of her terrible sorrow, Erika told Usha between sobs that she regretted having only two kids with Charlie,” JD wrote in the book, which was excerpted by The Wall Street Journal in June 2026.

He continued in the passage, “For years, I’d asked Usha to have another baby, and for years, she told me she was done, especially now that public service had elevated us into the national spotlight. Something changed for Usha, and not long after we buried my friend, she became pregnant with our fourth child, a boy.”

Months earlier, at the 2026 March for Life rally in January 2026, JD framed Usha’s pregnancy as a personal endorsement of his pro-family politics.

“Let the record show, you have a vice president who practices what he preaches,” he said at the time.

Usha Vance Reflects on Faith, Therapy and Her Husband

Usha also offered a rare look at JD’s spiritual journey during a June 2026 episode of CBS’ Sunday Morning, telling correspondent Robert Costa that she once told JD, “Therapy didn’t work for you, church does.”

“It’s not that therapy doesn’t work for other people,” Usha clarified. “JD just didn’t have the right kind of trust in that process. He just didn’t feel at home in it, really exploring some of the feelings that he had in trying to figure out how he wanted to be the person that he wanted to be for the rest of his life.”

JD, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, said his “tumultuous upbringing” in Middletown, Ohio, drove his search for something “rooted” and “grounded.” Despite their interfaith household — Usha follows the Hindu faith — JD has said his wife is “my best friend” and that they have agreed to raise their kids Christian, with respect for free will at the center of their arrangement.

Usha, for her part, is the daughter of immigrant parents from India who was raised in the Hindu faith. They have an interfaith union.

“It’s not like he’s prophesying to me every day,” she said on CBS Sunday Morning.

Tragic Plane Crash Near Butler Memorial Airport Claims Lives of Pilot and 11 Skydivers

0

A tragic plane crash in Butler, Missouri, claimed the lives of a pilot and 11 passengers who were preparing for a skydiving adventure on Sunday, according to local authorities.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that their officers were on-site, working in conjunction with the Butler Police Department and the Bates County Sheriff’s Office. The accident occurred close to the Butler Memorial Airport in Butler, a small town with a population of about 4,300, located approximately 65 miles south of Kansas City.

Sgt. Justin Ewing of the Missouri Highway Patrol confirmed that the aircraft was on a skydiving mission when the incident happened. Emergency services received a distress call around 11:30 a.m. indicating that the plane had crashed and was engulfed in flames.

“The aircraft came down in a field near the airport,” Ewing noted, adding that as a safety measure, nearby roadways were being closed off.

The crash site revealed a twisted mass of blue and silver metal resting in the grass, surrounded by a significant presence of emergency vehicles stationed along the adjacent road.

Teams from the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were en route to the crash site Sunday afternoon to investigate, according to the Missouri State Patrol.

The private plane was operated by Skydive Kansas City, said Dennis Jacobs, the acting airport manager and Bates County Emergency Management Agency director.

“It had just taken off and made a left turn” before the crash, Jacobs said. “In my opinion I think it was losing power, and he was trying to make it over to the highway and land, and he stalled and went down nose first and caught fire.”

Emergency responders were able to put out the fire shortly after the crash, Jacobs said, calling the scene “brutal.”

First responders have checked the area under the flight path and did not find anyone who might have tried to jump out before the crash, Jacobs said.

The Pacific Aerospace 750XL that crashed is a single engine turboprop plane model that’s popular for skydiving but has also proven useful for other uses, including cargo, aerial surveying and medical evacuation flights. The aircraft can carry as many as 17 skydivers and is capable of taking off and landing on short runways. The plane that crashed Saturday was manufactured in 2010, according to FAA records.

The small airport serves around 30 aircraft, all privately owned, including crop dusting companies and sky dive operators, Ewing said.

Sky diving companies operate in the region eight or nine months a year, with the season usually starting in late March or early April and lasting into October or November. Someone answering the phone at Skydive Kansas City declined to speak to a reporter from The Associated Press.

It’s not yet known what factors may have contributed to the crash or caused it, Ewing said, and those details will be part of the investigation carried out by NTSB officials.

Aviation safety expert Jeff Guzzetti said that poor maintenance has been a factor in a number of previous skydiving plane crashes because these companies are not held to a high standard under FAA rules. Guzzetti said skydiving companies are governed by the same rules any private plane owner has to follow and not the more stringent rules that charter flight operators and airlines adhere to.

“There’s been a whole history of skydiving accidents for inadequate maintenance and deficient safety culture,” said Guzzetti who used to be a crash investigator for both the NTSB and FAA.

Discover the Bonus Boost: Knicks Players’ Earnings for an NBA Championship Win

0

The New York Knicks have not only captured their first NBA title in 53 years but also secured a substantial financial reward for their triumph.

According to Kurt Badenhausen of Sportico, each Knicks player stands to gain an estimated $770,000 bonus for clinching the championship. This comes from the team’s collective $9,078,000 NBA Finals prize, which will be distributed among the players.

Badenhausen highlights that this bonus is particularly significant for players with lower salaries. For instance, Jeremy Sochan, who is not on a two-way contract, earns the team’s lowest salary at $806,000. Meanwhile, Mohamed Diawara earns $1.3 million, and Jose Alvarado takes home $1.7 million annually.

In addition to their Finals winnings, the Knicks will receive $471,000 for securing the third seed in the Eastern Conference this season. The franchise also collected financial incentives for advancing through each playoff round, including the first round, the conference semifinals, and the conference finals.

The franchise will also receive $471,000 for finishing as the third seed in the Eastern Conference this season, alongside bonuses for going through the first round, the conference semifinals and the conference finals.

Players will also likely receive more money from outside the NBA playoff prize pool that is tied to their individual contracts through incentives.

The full NBA playoff pool including all teams and results is worth $35.74 million. Payouts for each team differ based on regular-season finishes and playoff results.

The San Antonio Spurs, as the Finals runner-up, will bring home an extra $3.921 million alongside their prizes from their progress through earlier playoff rounds.

There are also rewards for the best regular-season results. The team with the best record in the NBA earns $896,000, while the top record in each conference merits $784,000. The bonuses proceed down to the sixth-best record in each conference, which gets $210,000.

Of course, the biggest prize will always be the championship itself, but the money that comes with it, especially for the players earning less money, is a nice add-on too.

Trump Marks 80th Birthday with UFC Cage-Fighting Event Amidst Ongoing Presidential Challenges

WASHINGTON (AP) — On Sunday, President Donald Trump will celebrate his 80th birthday with an event that seems almost surreal: a cage-fighting spectacle on the historic South Lawn of the White House.

This week, the serious challenges of his presidency have threatened to overshadow this lavish UFC mixed martial arts event. Fighters, enclosed in a wire-mesh octagon, will attempt to defeat each other through punches, kicks, and various combat techniques.

Trump is currently entangled in an unpopular and expensive war in Iran, a conflict he played a significant role in initiating. While a resolution could be within reach, critical negotiations remain. Meanwhile, just a short distance from Trump’s birthday festivities, workers have begun removing his name from the Kennedy Center after a judge deemed its naming inappropriate.

Nonetheless, the president will emerge from the White House to join Cabinet members, top officials, Republican lawmakers, and more than 4,000 enthusiastic spectators gathered in a temporary arena beneath “The Claw,” a futuristic metal arch equipped with lights, sound systems, and giant screens. Thousands more will watch from large screens set up on the nearby Ellipse.

“This is truly a unique event, an incredible spectacle. I love it,” said UFC president Dana White, one of Trump’s close allies, during a Friday night promotional event at the Lincoln Memorial. There, pairs of fighters engaged in staged confrontations beneath the watchful eyes of Abraham Lincoln’s marble figure.

The president has sought to tie Sunday’s event — which features seven fights running past midnight — to larger, months-long celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

But it is much more geared toward feting himself, so much so that the G7 summit for leaders of industrialized nations pushed back their get-together so that the president could attend his cage-match party and then fly straight to France for the meetings.

The weather, though, could put a major damper on things. Strong thunderstorms and heavy lightning disrupted Friday’s Lincoln Memorial event, and the forecast for Sunday evening also looks threatening.

“I’m sick and tired of hearing about the weather,” White declared on Friday, before conceding that he’ll prefer to hold future UFC events inside arenas only.

A dramatic departure from how the last president marked his 80th

When Trump’s predecessor, President Joe Biden, turned 80 in November 2022, he celebrated with a private family brunch at the White House, laying bare just how much and how quickly things have changed.

Asked about the contrast, White House spokesperson Allison Schuster said that the fight “will be one of the most entertaining nights in American history” and said that the timing was appropriate. “Having this spectacle take place at the people’s house on Flag Day during our nations’ semiquincentennial anniversary is a fitting tribute,” Schuster said in a statement.

When he turned 80, Biden was the oldest president in U.S. history, and was months away from launching a reelection bid that he would ultimately abandon after a disastrous debate against Trump and mutiny among Democrats concerned he was too old to handle a second term.

Trump has now supplanted Biden as the oldest person to be elected U.S. president. He’s constitutionally barred from running again, yet constantly toys with the notion publicly. That’s despite polls showing rising public skepticism about Trump’s mental and physical health — recalling concerns Biden faced as he turned 80.

A Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos poll conducted in April found that less than half of U.S. adults think Trump has the mental sharpness or physical health to serve effectively as president.

The White House countered with a lengthy statement from Trump’s former White House physician, Texas Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson, saying Trump’s “stamina, focus, and strength are exceptional and on display every day. Claims to the contrary are pure fiction.” Jackson added that polling concerns were “being propagated by the same biased, liberal, Trump-hating press that completely ignored the absolute cognitive and physical disaster that was President Biden.”

Trump has nonetheless undergone four publicly announced physical examinations this term alone, with White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella recently declaring him in “excellent health.”

‘Bread and circuses’ — Trump-style

The UFC event is an apt metaphor for Trump’s pugilistic political style. He is as big a fan of cage-match-style politics as he is of cage-fighting itself.

But Trump has also long been a master of political misdirection, purposely presenting people with something other than his presidency to focus on when things aren’t going well.

With the war in Iran grinding on despite weeks of assurances from Trump that its end is nigh, gas prices staying high, renewed concerns about inflation and plummeting job approval ratings for Trump — a White House birthday party unlike anything America has ever seen is definitely a diversion.

“This is all distraction,” said Mike Fontaine, a classics professor at Cornell University, who likened it to the gladiatorial games of Imperial Rome, when combatants brutalized each other for public entertainment meant to bolster rulers’ popularity and quell potential unrest.

“This is a classic strategy,” Fontaine said. “In ancient Rome, the phrase would be, ‘bread and circuses.’”

Trump says the UFC is paying for the event and while its full costs haven’t been divulged, the National Park Service said in a court filing that $60-plus million and tens of thousands of hours of labor have gone into it, while seven government agencies have “allocated significant resources and manpower.”

UFC also announced on Friday that it was adding as an official partner for the event World Liberty Financial to create a special $250,000 athlete bonus pool for Sunday night’s winners. The cryptocurrency company is co-owned by the Trump family, founded with the president’s special diplomatic envoy Steve Witkoff and run by his son, Zach. The arrangement further blurs lines between the Trump family’s financial interests and the events and construction projects the president has prioritized and used government resources to pull off.

Still, Fontaine said that when it comes to a personal flair for pageantry, the president’s second-term tendency to lean into “hardcore masculinity and brute fighting” is marrying the UFC’s blood sport with Trump’s trademark humor and enduring sense of showmanship.

“President Trump has a once-in-a-generation talent for this stuff,” he said.

Is Trump Losing Trust in Netanyahu? Israel on Edge Over Potential Shift Amid Iran Deal Talks

0

Concerns are mounting in Jerusalem that President Trump might unexpectedly shift his stance on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during these crucial negotiations for a U.S.-Iran peace agreement. This apprehension intensified on Sunday following a second Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) strike in Beirut, adding to the regional tension.

Despite warnings from the U.S. administration that any military actions could jeopardize a significant diplomatic breakthrough with Tehran, the strikes occurred as Netanyahu was preparing to meet with Israel’s Security Cabinet. This development also came on the heels of Trump’s announcement regarding an imminent signing of a new U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding (MOU).

A diplomat involved in the discussions with Tehran shared with Fox News Chief Foreign Correspondent Trey Yingst that the recent strikes in Beirut are complicating the peace deal’s finalization. The diplomat described the actions as “a clear attempt by Israel to sabotage the president’s deal and draw the United States back into conflict.”

Following the strikes, Trump publicly criticized Israel’s actions on Truth Social and expressed his frustration to Axios, stating that Netanyahu demonstrated “no f—ing judgment.”

Natan Sachs, a senior fellow at the Middle East Institute, noted there was “absolutely this fear in the Israeli government,” calling it “a rational and healthy fear” over the pending deal.

He said a strategic chasm existed between the two allies, contrasting Netanyahu’s doctrine of sustained, long-term military pressure with Trump’s pursuit of immediate diplomatic victories.

“Now there is a sense in Israel that Trump may be growing weary of Netanyahu and the Israelis, and many others believe that if he got sick and tired of him, he could break norms in other directions and flip on Israel,” Sachs, an Israeli foreign policy expert, told News Media.

With discussions underway through Pakistani mediation, the Israeli prime minister’s office released a statement shortly after Trump announced the possible deal with Tehran on June 11.

Jerusalem “is not a party to the memorandum of understanding” between Washington and Tehran, Netanyahu said before reiterating on June 12 that Iran was “working to destroy the Jewish state.” He assured Israelis he had dedicated his life to “preventing them from doing so.”

On Sunday, a senior Israeli official also said Hezbollah attacks had targeted Israeli civilians for the previous three days as Israel prepared for Iranian retaliation.

Trump had already criticized Netanyahu during a phone call earlier this month, reportedly calling him “crazy” over a first strike on Beirut that was complicating the administration’s negotiations with Iran.

“It’s not just that there seems to be a crisis — and there were clearly expletives used by the president toward the prime minister on the backdrop of a joint and large military operation,” Sachs said.

“Israel and Netanyahu had first looked at Trump and saw both enormous carrots and enormous potential sticks,” Sachs said of the start of Operation Epic Fury and Roaring Lion on Feb. 28.

“Trump was a huge opportunity for Netanyahu because he was willing to break the mold on anything, but Israel has made a potentially strategic, historic mistake in putting all its eggs in one basket,” he added.

“Netanyahu was always prepared for the long haul,” Sachs said. “And the long haul is not four months; the long haul is years. Trump likes quick wins. Once the quick win did not materialize — and it did not — now you have a whole new set of problems.”

“Trump’s preference seemed far from pursuing a much broader campaign aimed at achieving the goals that Israel prefers, and he also has a much narrower conception of what a deal would be,” he added.

Sachs noted, however, that Trump and Netanyahu broadly shared goals on curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, eliminating Hezbollah’s armed presence in Lebanon and establishing a post-Hamas future for Gaza.

But he said, “having that wish list is not the same as having a strategic goal. They haven’t both committed to them as strategic goals that dictate concerted action going forward.”

Sachs also argued that tensions between Trump and Netanyahu reflect different temperaments.

“Netanyahu thinks of himself as a strategic thinker — very able, and of course, he has a very high opinion of himself — but he is completely different,” he observed.

“Netanyahu is an erudite, well-educated, patient, highly suspicious and extremely pessimistic man by nature. His self-image is more, ‘I have thought everything through in ways you could not, because I’m smarter than you.’

“He’s very suspicious of everyone around him, and he’s been surrounded by this same coterie of individuals for decades.”

“In terms of personality and where they come from, their worldview is also actually very different,” Sachs added.

“You can’t imagine Netanyahu spending hours at night on social media. He doesn’t go on it himself, and it’s hard to imagine President Trump spending hours reading books, which Netanyahu likes to portray himself as doing. I doubt he has time for it, but that is an image he projects, and I think it is partially true.”

“Netanyahu also believes you live with a problem, you manage it, and you kick the can down the road. Trump is the opposite.”

“The U.S. may turn away and be uninterested; Israel simply does not think it has that privilege,” Sachs said.

“Netanyahu and Trump have very different time horizons, and that is partly geography and interest — and partly personality.”

Unmasking a Chilling Deception: The Sinister Tale of Taylor Parker’s Fake Pregnancy and Deadly Plot

0

She once captured the happiest moments of their lives, only to later turn them into a horrific nightmare.

As a wedding photographer, Taylor Parker appeared to be the perfect choice for Reagan Simmons Hancock’s special day. Her charm and skill behind the camera put everyone at ease, capturing stunning, candid images of the joyous occasion.

Emily Shirey, Hancock’s sister, shared in Netflix’s Maternal Instinct that Parker’s warm demeanor made her feel like a close friend rather than just a hired professional. “Taylor made sure she greeted everybody and told everybody who she was,” Shirey said. “At times, it felt like she was part of the bridal party herself.”

The rapport they built didn’t end there. In the months following the wedding, Parker and Hancock developed a genuine friendship.

Tragically, this bond was shattered on October 9, 2020. On that day, Parker, who had fabricated a pregnancy, brutally assaulted Hancock, who was indeed expecting. The attack left Hancock with over 100 sharp force injuries. In a horrifying turn, Parker forcibly removed the unborn child from Hancock’s womb in an attempt to pass the baby off as her own, as detailed in court records.

When the deadly ruse was uncovered, investigators learned the fake pregnancy was just one of the staggering lies Parker told about her life.

To find out more about murders of Hancock and baby Braxlynn Sage and how Parker pulled off the elaborate pregnancy con for months, read on below:

Who is Taylor Parker?

In many ways, Parker—a single mom of two—was a classic country girl, enjoying small town life, helping on the farm and often gravitating to cowboys.

“She made you feel like the best person on the planet,” friend Mackenzie Bright recalled in the documentary. “She loved attention.”

It seemed like Parker may have met her perfect match after meeting hog farmer Wade Griffin at the rodeo in August 2019.

“She was a pretty girl,” Griffin remembered in Maternal Instinct. “You know, just kind of lit up the room when she walked in, smiling from ear to ear.”

Parker allegedly told Griffin, according to the documentary, she came from a wealthy Texas oil family and was expecting to inherit millions from her grandmother.

How did Taylor Parker Pull Off Her Pregnancy Con?

Then, just months into the courtship in January 2020, Parker announced that she was pregnant, according to the court records.

In the following months, Parker pulled off the pregnancy ruse with the help of a silicone belly and sonogram she had purchased online, per the court records. Then, she prepared the nursery, took maternity photos and hosted an elaborate gender reveal party, where a cow with a pink bow around its neck revealed she would be expecting a girl.

But some of Parker’s former friends and doctors knew her claim couldn’t possibly be true.

After welcoming her first two children, Parker had a tubal ligation after suffering from preeclampsia with her son, per the court records. Two years later, she had an ectopic pregnancy, a dangerous condition in which the egg incorrectly implants in the fallopian tube instead of the uterus.

During surgery to resolve the issue, doctors discovered she had “complex cysts and scarring from endometriosis” and—with her then-husband’s permission—performed a hysterectomy, according to the court records.

Her doctors couldn’t disclose that they knew about Parker’s inability to carry a child due to privacy laws, they explained in the documentary, even as word of her pregnancy spread throughout the small community.

“During that summer, our time together was very limited,” Griffin explained of how he never caught onto the deception. “She never hardly ever wanted me to see her naked or anything because she said she was insecure because of her stretch marks. We never really did anything at all, pretty much.”

What Happened to Reagan Simmons Hancock?

After Parker’s so-called due date came and went in September 2020 with no birth, prosecutors said she was feeling increasing pressure to produce a baby to continue the ruse.

Then, on the morning of October 9, 2020, Parker told Griffin she was being induced at a hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma, instructing him to drop off a load of hogs and then meet her the hospital.

Rather than head to the hospital, Parker went to Hancock’s New Boston, Texas home around 7:30 a.m. and viciously attacked her, chasing her throughout the home, according to court records.

Medical examiner Dr. Melinda Flores testified at trial that Hancock suffered 113 sharp force injuries, including 15 stab wounds and 98 incised wounds, per court records. She also suffered 39 blunt force injuries, which Flores theorized may have been delivered by a hammer.

“Dr. Flores also testified that there was evidence of possible strangulation,” read the Texas’ Court of Criminal Appeals opinion. “Reagan lost so much blood in the attack that some of her wounds did not even bleed due to low blood pressure.”

After killing Hancock, Parker performed a “crude C-section” to remove the baby, per the records, slicing into Hancock’s lower abdomen and opening her uterus.

How Was Taylor Parker Caught?

Less than half an hour later, Parker was spotted by Texas Trooper Lee Shavers “driving erratically, speeding, and almost hitting another vehicle,” according to facts laid out in the opinion. After she was pulled over along the side of the road, Parker claimed she was on her way to the hospital and asked for the officer’s help.

“I had my baby,” a hysterical Parker said in body cam footage shown in the documentary. “And I’m trying to get to I—Idabel Hospital where…my husband’s up there.”

In court, Shavers described the baby as being “very limp” and “kind of white in color” and was not breathing. The child—who Hancock had planned to name Braxlynn Sage Hancock—later died at the hospital.

“She was beautiful,” noted an obituary, “and the precious little sister to Kynlee and leaves behind a host of relatives.”

At the hospital, doctors quickly began to suspect that Parker was lying after finding no evidence to suggest that she had recently given birth.

After one OSBI investigator asked “where’d this baby come from?,” Parker continued to insist “It’s mine,” according to body camera footage from the emergency room, included in the documentary.

She was arrested at the hospital and charged with capital murder.

Hancock’s Body Discovered Inside Her Home

Investigators linked the baby to Hancock, after her mother Jessica Brookes went to check on her at home and made a grisly discovery.

“Help me,” Brookes screamed in a 911 call replayed in the doc, “my daughter’s been murdered!”

Hancock’s older daughter was still inside the home with her mother’s dead body and had to be rescued by a family friend.

After examining Hancock’s body, police quickly learned that her baby had been cut out of her womb.

“I didn’t really have no words for nothing at that point,” Griffin said in Maternal Instinct of the moment he discovered the truth from police. “I don’t even know how to explain it. Just betrayal from the lies, everything. I never, ever wanted anything like that to happen. It was unimaginable what she did.”

Where is Taylor Parker Now?

After her arrest, Parker’s other lies were also exposed, including her claim that she stood to inherit millions, according to the doc.

She went on trial and was convicted of the murder of Hancock and her baby in October 2022. She was sentenced to death and remains on death row at Texas Department of Correction’s O’Daniel Unit in Gatesville, Texas.

In May, the U.S. Supreme Court denied a request to review Parker’s case, per the Texarkana Gazette.

“The whole point behind it all, I really don’t know,” Griffin remarked in the documentary. “I guess she was hoping one day…I’d finally tell her that I loved her, but I never—I never did.”

His mother Connie Griffin said her son continues to feel the fallout from Parker’s crimes.

“I’ve watched him cry and cry,” she said in Maternal Instinct. “People were so angry at what had happened and I didn’t blame them. They avoid him. They turn and walk the other way. And it’s hard everywhere he goes. It never goes away. It never will.”

At 24, Tim Burton Crafted a Short Film That Defined His Signature Style

0

Tim Burton has long captivated audiences by infusing whimsy into horror, a distinctive flair evident in his imaginative storytelling. One of Burton’s signature techniques is his use of stop-motion animation, which gained mainstream popularity through films like “Beetlejuice” and the Henry Selick-directed “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” This iconic animation style was established early in Burton’s career at the age of 24 with the Disney-backed stop-motion short “Vincent,” a precursor to his beloved cinematic works.

The short film “Vincent,” released in 1982, centers on a young boy named Vincent Malloy who navigates his world through the lens of his idol, horror legend Vincent Price. His vivid imagination conjures up monsters, including a snake-like creature reminiscent of the sandworm from “Beetlejuice,” and he fantasizes about turning his pet dog into a zombie, a nod to Burton’s later project, “Frankenweenie.” Despite his family’s attempts to ground him in reality, Vincent’s dreams only intensify his sense of isolation.

Stephen Chiodo, who later gained fame for “Killer Klowns from Outer Space,” brought “Vincent” to life with stop-motion animation. The choice of using a homemade clay style perfectly captured the essence of Vincent’s imaginative world, offering a blend of realism and childlike wonder. Interestingly, “Vincent” initially wasn’t intended to be a film at all, despite its pivotal role in shaping Burton’s cinematic trajectory.

In “Burton on Burton,” as noted by Remind Magazine, Burton shared that “Vincent” began as a concept for a children’s book. He expressed a desire to use this kind of animation, stating, “I felt there was a gravity to those three-dimensional figures that was more real for that story.” By employing a tactile medium like clay, Burton made his eerie creations both tangible and fantastically dreamlike.

Vincent Price, the horror icon who inspired the film, also lent his voice as the narrator. Burton reflected on his admiration for Price’s work, explaining, “When you’re younger, things look bigger, and you find your own mythology, what psychologically connects to you. Those movies, just the poetry of them, and this larger-than-life character who goes through a lot of torment—mostly imagined—just [spoke] to me…”

Tim Burton originally pictured Vincent as a book

In the book “Burton on Burton” (via Remind Magazine), the director explained that “Vincent” was supposed to be a children’s book. “I wanted to do that kind of animation because I felt there was a gravity to those three-dimensional figures that was more real for that story,” he wrote. Tim Burton knew that using a rough, tangible medium such as clay allowed his creepy creatures to feel real while making them feel like we conjured them up in our own imaginations.

Along with being inspired by the horror legend, Vincent Price himself was the film’s narrator. Burton explained his appreciation for Price and his movies, saying, “When you’re younger things look bigger, you find your own mythology, you find what psychologically connects to you. And those movies, just the poetry of them, and this larger-than-life character who goes through a lot of torment – mostly imagined – just [spoke] to me…”

Finding your own mythology is exactly what “Vincent” is about as he imagines what his world would look like if he were Price. A few years later, both men would work together on what would be Price’s last film, and their collaborations cemented their legacies as dreamers who taught adults that it’s okay to explore their imaginations well after childhood.
