Revitalize Glute Strength After 60: Top 5 Chair Exercises Outperforming Lunges

0

As we age, particularly after reaching 60, weakened glutes can transition from being a mere exercise issue to a hindrance in daily activities. Tasks such as standing, climbing stairs, and walking may become increasingly challenging. This decline in glute strength is often attributed to prolonged sitting, a decrease in targeted lower-body exercises, or a lack of deliberate hip-engaging activities.

While lunges are beneficial, they might demand more than some individuals can initially manage. Effective glute engagement requires a harmonious blend of balance, knee comfort, stride control, and hip flexibility. Chair exercises, however, offer an ideal starting point by providing support, minimizing uncertainty, and allowing you to concentrate on fortifying the intended muscles.

Chair-based glute exercises are one of my favorites because they enable rigorous training without the risk of instability. For instance, band abductions focus on strengthening the outer hips, while adduction squeezes enhance the muscles responsible for leg positioning. Standing hip extensions directly target the glutes, and exercises like sit-to-stands and reverse planks integrate these into broader movement patterns. Although the setup is straightforward, the effectiveness of these exercises becomes evident when performed slowly and with precision, ensuring each repetition is impactful.

Lunges are useful, but they can ask for more than some people are ready to give right away. Balance, knee comfort, stride control, and hip mobility all have to cooperate before the glutes get a fair shot at doing the work. Chair exercises create a better starting point because they add support, reduce guesswork, and let you focus on the muscles you’re actually trying to rebuild.

I like chair-based glute work because it gives people a way to train hard without feeling like they’re one bad rep away from wobbling across the room. Band abductions target the outer hips; adduction squeezes strengthen the muscles that help control leg position; standing hip extensions train the glutes directly; and sit-to-stands and reverse planks bring everything into larger movement patterns. The setup stays simple, but the work can be surprisingly effective when you slow down and make each rep count.

Seated Band Abduction

Seated band abductions target the outer glutes and hip stabilizers, which help keep your knees and hips aligned when you walk, stand, or climb stairs. Pressing your knees outward against the band provides direct resistance to the glutes without requiring you to stand or balance. Lunges also train the hips, but band abductions target an area that often needs extra attention after 60. Stronger outer glutes can help your lower body feel steadier and more controlled during daily movement.

Muscles Trained: Outer glutes, hip stabilizers, core

How to Do It:

  1. Sit tall near the front edge of a sturdy chair.
  2. Place a mini band around your thighs just above your knees.
  3. Plant your feet flat on the floor about hip-width apart.
  4. Brace your core and keep your chest lifted.
  5. Press your knees outward against the band.
  6. Return your knees inward with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Paused abductions, pulsing abductions, single-leg abductions

Form Tip: Keep your feet planted and move from your hips.

Seated Adduction Squeeze

Seated adduction squeezes train your inner thighs, which help your hips control your legs when you walk, step, and shift direction. Glute strength works better when the muscles around the hips support each other, and the inner thighs play a bigger role than most people realize. Squeezing a pillow, ball, or yoga block between your knees builds strength through a simple, supported position. Better inner-thigh strength helps balance out the hips and gives your lower body more control than glute work alone.

Muscles Trained: Inner thighs, hip adductors, core

How to Do It:

  1. Sit tall with your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Place a pillow, small ball, or yoga block between your knees.
  3. Brace your core and keep your posture upright.
  4. Squeeze your knees together against the object.
  5. Hold the squeeze for the target time.
  6. Release with control before the next rep.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 15 to 25 second holds. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Longer holds, pulsing squeezes, firmer object holds

Form Tip: Keep your feet flat and squeeze from your inner thighs.

Standing Hip Extension

Standing hip extensions train your glutes directly by moving your leg behind your body. The chair provides balanced support, so you can focus on squeezing the glute instead of arching your back or wobbling through the rep. Hip extension is one of the glutes’ main jobs during walking, stairs, and standing tall. Training it in a controlled way helps restore the backside strength that lunges can sometimes miss when balance or knee comfort becomes the limiting factor.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, hamstrings, core

How to Do It:

  1. Stand behind a sturdy chair and place your hands lightly on the backrest.
  2. Shift your weight into one foot.
  3. Brace your core and stand tall.
  4. Extend your opposite leg straight behind you.
  5. Squeeze your glute at the top.
  6. Lower your foot with control and switch sides after your reps.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps per side. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Banded hip extensions, paused hip extensions, slower tempo hip extensions

Form Tip: Lift from your glute and avoid arching your lower back.

Sit-to-Stand

Sit-to-stands train your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and core while practicing one of the most important movements after 60. Every rep asks your hips and legs to generate force from a seated position, which carries straight into getting off the couch, getting out of the car, or rising from a dining chair. Compared with lunges, the chair gives you a clear target and a more stable way to build strength. Press through your feet, squeeze your glutes at the top, and avoid rocking for momentum.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, core

How to Do It:

  1. Sit near the front edge of a sturdy chair.
  2. Place your feet flat on the floor about hip-width apart.
  3. Brace your core and lean your torso slightly forward.
  4. Press through your feet to stand tall.
  5. Squeeze your glutes at the top.
  6. Lower back to the chair with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 12 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: No-hands sit-to-stands, slow-tempo sit-to-stands, paused sit-to-stands

Form Tip: Control the descent and avoid dropping into the chair.

Chair Reverse Plank

Chair reverse planks train your glutes, hamstrings, core, and upper back while teaching your hips to stay extended. Sitting can leave the glutes underactive and the front of the hips tight, so holding hip extension gives your backside a needed wake-up call. Pressing your hips up also helps reinforce your posture and hip strength. Stronger reverse planks can make walking, standing, and climbing stairs feel more supported through your hips.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, hamstrings, core, upper back

How to Do It:

  1. Sit near the front edge of a sturdy chair.
  2. Place your hands on the sides of the seat.
  3. Walk your feet forward until your legs extend comfortably.
  4. Press through your heels and lift your hips off the chair.
  5. Squeeze your glutes and hold your body in a straight line.
  6. Lower your hips back to the chair with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 15 to 25 second holds. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Bent-knee reverse plank, longer holds, alternating heel lift hold

Form Tip: Keep your chest open and finish the hold with your glutes.

How to Rebuild Glute Strength From a Chair

Chair exercises work best when the chair supports your position without stealing the work from your hips. Keep your reps slow, press through your feet, and make the glutes finish each movement. A few focused sessions each week can help your hips feel stronger, steadier, and more useful during everyday movement.

  • Train the outer hips: Band abductions strengthen the muscles that help control your knees and pelvis. Better outer-glute strength can improve walking, balance, and lower-body alignment.
  • Don’t ignore the inner thighs: Adduction squeezes help your hips control the position of your legs from the inside. Stronger adductors support smoother movement and better lower-body coordination.
  • Use pauses for better tension: Hold the top of hip extensions, sit-to-stands, and reverse planks for a second or two. Pauses keep the glutes working longer without needing heavy weight.
  • Keep your lower back quiet: Brace your core and keep your ribs down during hip extensions and reverse planks. Your glutes should drive the movement, not your spine.
  • Progress with small changes: Add reps, hold longer, use a stronger band, or slow the tempo once the exercises feel easier. Small progressions keep the routine productive without making it overwhelming.

A stronger backside can change how daily movement feels. Build the habit with these chair exercises, and your hips will have more power and control when you stand, walk, climb, and move through the day.

Breaking News: Tucson Woman Sought for Kidnapping & Assault Unrelated to Nancy Guthrie Investigation, Confirm Authorities

0

A Tucson woman remains at large following a kidnapping and assault incident, though authorities clarify there is no link between her and the suspected abduction of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is actively seeking the public’s assistance in locating Coral Michelle Smith, 40, who is a suspect in a separate case reported on May 29.

The incident involving Smith occurred near the intersection of La Cholla Boulevard and River Road, approximately 6.8 miles from Guthrie’s residence. According to 88-Crime, the county’s Crime Stoppers affiliate, the case includes allegations of assault with a deadly weapon.

Meanwhile, the community remains on edge as news of Nancy Guthrie’s suspected abduction, which took place on February 1, continues to circulate. Despite the proximity of the two cases, the authorities have stressed that there is no indication of any connection between Smith and Guthrie’s disappearance.

An image released shows a split-screen comparison of Savannah and Nancy Guthrie from an appearance on the “Today” show alongside the mugshot of Coral Michelle Smith, underscoring the separate nature of these troubling events. As the investigation into both cases proceeds, the Sheriff’s Department urges anyone with information to come forward.

Authorities never indicated there could be a connection to the Guthrie case.

They’re asking anyone who sees her to call 911 immediately and not to approach or attempt to detain her themselves.

Taylor Swift’s Beauty Blunder Steals Spotlight at Toy Story 5 Premiere

0

Taylor Swift experienced an unusual beauty hiccup during her unexpected appearance at the Toy Story 5 premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old Grammy winner dazzled on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre, wearing a chic denim off-the-shoulder dress by Erdem, adorned with rhinestones and floral embroidery.

Embracing the spirit of the beloved Toy Story character Jessie, she accessorized with a diamond horseshoe pendant necklace and wore her trademark bold red lipstick.

However, what seemed like a flawless red carpet ensemble was marred by a noticeable spray tan mishap, as fans quickly pointed out.

While her legs boasted a perfect bronze glow, the stark contrast of her pale feet and ankles in her high heels caught everyone’s attention.

Swift’s chest, shoulders and face also appeared several shades lighter than her deeply tanned legs.

‘What’s going on with the spray tan?’ asked one concerned Swiftie on Reddit.

Another Reddit user joked that it looked as though Swift was wearing ‘ankle socks’ due to how harsh her tan lines were.

Despite her beauty mishap, Swift still proved to be the belle of the ball at the Toy Story 5 premiere.

The Pixar sequel features a brand-new original track from the superstar, titled I Knew It, I Knew You, which has already smashed streaming records.

The song, which Disney describes as ‘a return to Taylor Swift’s country roots’, draws inspiration from Jessie’s storyline in the franchise and was crafted with the help of Swift’s longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff.

Elsewhere at the event Swift also posed with Joan Cusack, who’s the voice behind Jessie, as well as Tom Hanks, who voices Woody, comedian Conan O’Brien, President of Disney Dana Walden, Disney chairman Alan Bergman, and Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro.

Following the screening of the Pixar sequel, Swift took to the stage to address the audience before treating them to an exclusive performance.

Swift, who switched into a yellow gown inside, praised Cusack for having done ‘an extraordinary job’ voicing Jessie, and added, ‘It was an honor to write for her, and I am very lucky that I got to write for this film’ as per Deadline.

‘I am also lucky enough to be here because of someone else who is the architect of the Toy Story musical universe,’ she went on.

‘He is the king of making us feel the absolute most and pulling at our heartstrings and making us laugh and making us like he’s one of our friends, you know what I mean. I’m talking about Randy Newman.’

She then joined him for a duet of You Got A Friend In Me. The star also performed a piano rendition of her new song.

It comes amid news that Swift and Travis Kelce’s lavish summer wedding is gearing up to be a very pricey affair.

The Love Story hitmaker and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 36, have reportedly rented New York City’s Madison Square Garden to host their wedding over the Fourth of July weekend.

The power couple are said to have paid well into the millions for the venue, which they have booked for at least three days – one day for set up, the day of the wedding, and the day after – according to TMZ.

Swift and Kelce did not get any discounts on the arena, which is reported to cost about $1 million per night. The singer has performed a total of eight sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden throughout her career.

However, sources said the pair had to pay full price, as the venue is owned by a publicly traded company, Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp., which must prioritize shareholders.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Madison Square Garden as well as representatives for Swift and Kelce for comment.

Sources reported that the venue has several dark days scheduled ahead of the July 3 wedding event, which the singer is reportedly utilizing to set up something special for the occasion.

The World’s Most Famous Arena also offers a great amount of privacy for the superstar and her A-list guests, as there are no windows at the venue and there is underground parking.

While specific details about the ceremony remain tightly under wraps, the multi-day setup suggests that it will be an extravagant production.

Earlier this week a source told the Daily Mail that Swift’s legendary ‘Taymerica’ party could be making a comeback this year – this time as her own wedding.

The pair have decided to ’embrace the spectacle’ by hosting their wedding at the iconic venue, which can hold up to 22,000 people and is best known for hosting major concerts and sporting events.

The ceremony is believed to be taking place on July 3 – just ahead of Independence Day celebrations, raising the prospect that invited guests could find themselves attending a modern-day version of ‘Taymerica’ – Swift’s famous Fourth of July parties that once dominated social media.

The NFL star’s own words in his new book also appeared to suggest the nuptials could have a patriotic theme honoring the US military and men and women ‘who protect this country.’

In No Dumb Questions: And All of Our Dumbest Answers, the new book Kelce wrote with his brother Jason, the pair discussed their love for America and what makes Independence Day so special.

‘There is something around being around servicemen around Fourth of July that just makes it like that much more meaningful,’ Jason wrote.

‘It really hits you more, I feel like. It’s hard to come up with a great memory of Fourth of July because it’s really just being around the people. It always comes down to family, friends. It’s the one day that we all get to celebrate that we’re in this country together.

‘Thanksgiving is more family oriented. Fourth of July is like: “We’re America, bubba, and this is the big day that we became America.”‘

Later, Travis chimed in to say he ‘couldn’t have said it better,’ agreeing that the celebration is about ‘those who protect this country today.’

Kelce has been frank about his patriotism in the past and last July 4th posted a picture of some fireworks on Instagram and wrote: ‘Cheers to you, oh beautiful America.’

Swift is known to be a huge fan of the holiday herself thanks to her famous Fourth of July parties, her last being in 2016 – which included giant water slides, towels and swimsuits in red, white and blue to celebrate America at her Rhode Island mansion.

Social media photos showed the pop singer posing with Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid in red, white and blue swimwear while waving American flags, helping cement the event as one of the defining celebrity gatherings of the era.

The festivities generated headlines around the world and became so synonymous with Swift that fans coined the nickname ‘Taymerica.’

The star has been known to have admiration for the military too and has a history of service in her family.

Her paternal grandfather, Archie Dean Swift Jr, served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and fought in the brutal six-month long Battle of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands in 1942 and the Battle of Okinawa in Japan.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in 2020, Swift said that her grandfather ‘had seen a lot of heavy fire and casualties – all of the things that nightmares are made of’.

The nuptials are expected to take place over Independence Day weekend, sparking speculation of a patriotic celebration inspired by the singer's famous star-studded 'Taymerica' bash. The atrocities he saw were the ‘actual definition of unspeakable’, Swift said.

While Swift’s grandfather died when she was very young, her father used to tell her that he would say: ‘I’m not supposed to be here. I shouldn’t be here.’

Swift was so moved by the stories that wrote the song ‘Epiphany’ about Archie, as well as healthcare workers on the front line during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In another sign of her respect for the military, in 2016 Swift made a surprise visit to her then oldest fan, 96-year-old WWII veteran Cyrus Porter, at his home in Missouri.

Porter had been to two Swift concerts with his dozens of grandchildren and credited the singer for bringing him closer to them.

Elsewhere in the book Kelce said that he would never get married in the fall because the football season is happening then: he has signed up for one more season with the Chiefs after rumors about his retirement.

For Kelce, football appeared to be more important than anyone’s wedding – including his.

Kelce said: ‘You got to be willing to find a weekend where the team isn’t playing anybody good….it’s a whole weekend thing.

‘Don’t make my friends have to not go. Everybody’s got (football) season tickets, all right? Don’t make my friends have to choose whether or not they have to sell their tickets that week’.

From Scandal to Survival: How Graham Platner Overcame Adversity and Thrived

0

PORTLAND, Maine — Maine’s Democratic Senate nominee, Graham Platner, expressed triumph on Wednesday, reflecting on his ability to weather a series of scandals that many thought would end his political career. These controversies involved a Nazi tattoo, questionable text messages, and a notorious “porta s—ter” incident. Despite these hurdles, Platner emerged victorious, leaving behind critics who prematurely declared his campaign over.

Interestingly, even the GOP’s Senate campaign committee has acknowledged Platner’s momentum, cautioning that he currently holds a lead in the race.

Platner shared his thoughts on the morning show “Morning Joe” on MS NOW, stating, “Since this campaign began, political analysts and so-called experts have repeatedly told us that it was the end of the line. Yet, we’ve defied the odds and continued forward.” His remarks highlighted the resilience and unexpected success of his campaign.

In the Democratic primary, Platner secured a resounding victory with 72% of the vote. Despite Maine Governor Janet Mills suspending her campaign in April, she still garnered 19.5% of the vote, according to recent tallies, which account for 81% of the votes counted so far.

Platner easily clinched the Democratic nod for Maine Senate, with 72%, though some 19.5% of Dem voters went to Maine Gov. Janet Mills, who suspended her campaign in April, according to the latest numbers, which include 81% of the vote counted.

The victory came as Maine Democratic primary voters resoundingly shrugged off the litany of scandals against him, including as extramarital sexting, his alleged “unsettling” behavior towards past girlfriends, a tattoo on his chest that resembled a Nazi symbol, his incendiary Reddit history, and more.

The Post had spoken with dozens of Platner supporters during the primary cycle, all of whom stressed the importance of defeating incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine).

“What they forget is that it’s that they’ve been counting out working people for so long that all of us down here in the real world, we want to see a different kind of politics now,” Platner said of the “political geniuses” counting him out.

The Marine veteran, who has repeatedly claimed he has no more skeletons in his closet before more scandals emerged, insisted that “there’s nothing out there that’s actually concerning.”

“People will make everything seem very concerning, because that’s what people do in politics,” he said.

Platner had given a message about redemption during his victory speech Tuesday, hailing his life’s story as living proof that people can change.

Meanwhile, despite the myriad scandals against Platner, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) issued an urgent memo underscoring how formidable he is in a general election.

The official Senate GOP campaign arm noted that Platner raised $200,000 the day after the bombshell New York Times story broke detailing his alleged “unsettling” behavior towards women and he has consistently outraised Collins.

“The political fundamentals in Maine remain challenging, and it is a fatal mistake to assume Platner is too damaged to win. He is currently leading. Vice President Harris won the state by 7 points, and the National Democrats view this as their only path to regaining control,” the NRSC argued in the memo.

“Senator Collins has won tough races before and can win this one, but only if we meet this moment with total urgency,” it added. “This race can be won, but it will not win itself.”

Winning Maine is paramount to Democrats’ mission of retaking the Senate in 2026. The NRSC described it as the “lynchpin” race of the cycle.

Platner currently has a 7.4 percentage point advantage over Collins, according to the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate of polls.

Trump Warns Iran of Consequences: ‘Will Have to Pay the Price’ – Latest Updates on US-Iran Tensions

0

On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump remarked that Iran is taking an excessively long time to return to the negotiating table, ominously suggesting that “now they will have to pay the price.” While the implications for Tehran remain uncertain, this statement followed U.S. airstrikes launched against Iran earlier that day. These military actions were in retaliation after Trump attributed the crash of an American attack helicopter to Tehran, prompting Iran to direct its ire toward neighboring countries.

Meanwhile, a significant legislative development unfolded as the House narrowly approved a bill allocating nearly $70 billion for immigration enforcement. This bill, now awaiting President Trump’s signature, aims to reinforce the administration’s deportation efforts as Trump continues his tenure in the White House.

In the political arena, Graham Platner emerged victorious in securing Maine’s Democratic Senate nomination. This win sets the stage for a high-stakes showdown with Republican Senator Susan Collins, a longstanding incumbent. The outcome could potentially sway the balance of power in the U.S. Senate. Additionally, Trump’s influence within his party was put to the test in South Carolina and Nevada, where he threw his support behind preferred candidates.

In a related development, former White House official Rick Gates voluntarily testified, expressing hope that his contributions would aid the committee’s quest for justice for the victims. “I hope my testimony is helpful to the work, the important work of the committee, to find justice for the victims,” Gates stated, underscoring his willingness to assist in their inquiry.

Bill Gates arrives to testify about Jeffrey Epstein in closed-door hearing

“I hope my testimony is helpful to the work, the important work of the committee, to find justice for the victims,” Gates said, noting that he came voluntarily.

The Jeffrey Epstein files read like a who’s who of powerful men across tech, finance, politics and other industries, some of whom maintained or formed friendships even after Epstein’s history of sexual abuse came to light.

The files include calendar entries for meetings between the billionaire Microsoft co-founder and Epstein, email correspondence about philanthropic projects and photos of Gates at Epstein events. The Gates Foundation chairman has denied any knowledge of Epstein’s abuse of girls. Both he and his ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, have said his association with Epstein created tension in their marriage.

House Oversight Committee Democrats want Trump to testify. Republicans have said they haven’t seen evidence Trump did anything wrong.

Defying Trump ended some Republicans’ careers. It could help Susan Collins win reelection in Maine

This election year is déjà vu for Sen. Susan Collins — the Maine Republican is running for reelection as Democrats pin their hopes on a new candidate, this time combat veteran and oyster farmer Graham Platner, to defeat her.

But Collins has proven to be a hard target even for candidates without the baggage of Platner, who has faced criticism for his relationships with women, inflammatory online posts and a previous tattoo recognized as a Nazi symbol. Collins is seeking her sixth term with sky-high name recognition, a record-breaking run of consecutive Senate votes and a long history of delivering federal funding.

She is also the rare Republican who sometimes can boost her own popularity back home by keeping her distance from Trump, a delicate dance she’s perfected even as Trump’s tightening grip on the party has cost two other Senate Republicans their seats.

The US election system can be slow

It took a full week for California’s general election matchup for governor to become clear — Republican Steve Hilton has now joined Democrat Xavier Becerra in qualifying for the November ballot. The final results for Maine could take even longer. And key primary contests in South Carolina are headed to a June 23 runoff.

Despite what you may be reading on the internet, this is how U.S. democracy works. These differences in how votes are counted — and how long it takes — exist because the Constitution sets out broad principles for electing a national government and leaves the details to the states.

Tallying votes collected by local officials in individual precincts can take a long time — especially in states like Maine that offer ranked-choice voting, or South Carolina, which requires a runoff if none of the candidates earn more than 50% of the vote.

Inflation spikes to highest level in 3 years as voters face affordability concerns

Consumer prices rose 4.2% in May from a year earlier, the Labor Department said Wednesday, up from 3.8% in April and the third straight increase. On a monthly basis, prices rose 0.5% last month, after big gains of 0.6% in April and 0.9% in March.

The numbers are a headache for the Federal Reserve and a political challenge for the Trump administration as midterm elections near.

Inflation had been cooling before Trump’s sweeping tariffs in April 2025 made many goods more costly. Prices surged again after the Iran war made oil and gas more expensive, potentially spreading price hikes across the economy.

Excluding the volatile food and energy categories, core prices rose 2.9% in March from a year earlier, up from 2.8% in April. On a monthly basis, core prices increased a modest 0.2%, down from a 0.4% gain in April.

Netanyahu says Iran could never have a nuclear weapon

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted on X around the same time as Trump, again insisting that Iran could never have a nuclear weapon and defending Israel’s decisions to attack the Islamic Republic in the past.

While Iran and the U.S. seem to be looking for a way to end the conflict, Netanyahu appears intent on pursuing much more difficult goals: the collapse of Iran’s theocratic government, the elimination of its nuclear program and the destruction of the Iranian-allied Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon. That will make compromise much harder.

Trump says Iran is taking ‘too long to negotiate a deal’

Hours after Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan came under Iranian fire, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that Iran was taking “too long to negotiate a deal” and that “now they will have to pay the price.”

It wasn’t clear what exactly that would mean, but the back-and-forth strikes Wednesday again raised the question of how much pressure the deal can take before it cracks. The exchange of fire was the second time this week that such strikes have tested the ceasefire after Iran and Israel targeted each other on Monday.

Cuba’s top envoy to US calls Trump’s sanctions on Cuban leaders a ‘pretext’ for military action

In an interview on Tuesday, Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera repeated accusations against the Trump administration made by other Cuban officials, including the foreign minister and the president, and complained bitterly that the U.S. is targeting Cuban civilians with its decades-old embargo and new blockade of energy shipments to the island.

“The sanctions against our leaders, we see as a pretext to make the American people think we are a threat,” she said at Cuba’s embassy in Washington. “We are not a threat to the U.S., and we don’t want confrontation.”

Torres Rivera, who holds the formal title of chargé d’affaires, described the situation as “a war without bombs.” She said efforts to change Cuba’s government by coercion or force would be met by fierce resistance.

Largest ICE detention facility wasted millions and put detainees at risk, report finds

Mismanagement at a massive Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Texas created unsafe conditions that contributed to detainee deaths and suffering even as millions of wasted tax dollars enriched contractors, according to a federal report released Tuesday.

The Government Accountability Office report documents serious problems at Camp East Montana, a sprawling tent facility at Fort Bliss in El Paso, where three detainees have died in little more than six months. Evidence in one of those deaths, of a 55-year-old Cuban migrant who died in January after being held down by guards, was “missing or destroyed,” the report found.

ICE rushed to open the camp in August before construction was complete and failed to conduct required oversight to ensure detainees were held in sanitary conditions and receiving adequate medical care, according to the report.

DHS noted that ICE has replaced the contractor running the facility. “This new contractor will allow Camp East Montana to continue abiding by the highest detention standards with the ability to provide more medical care on-site,” said spokesperson Lauren Bis.

US strikes Iran after blaming Tehran for helicopter crash. Iran fires on countries in the region

The United States launched airstrikes early Wednesday against Iran after blaming Tehran for the crash of an American attack helicopter, and Iran fired back at countries in the region — another escalation that threatened to derail efforts to end the war.

Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan — all of which host U.S. troops — came under Iranian fire. It was the second time this week that back-and-forth strikes have tested the ceasefire after Iran and Israel targeted each other on Monday, and it again raised the question of how much pressure the deal can take before it cracks.

While Trump has insisted that negotiations with Iran to end the war are making progress, he has repeatedly vacillated between expressing such optimism and warning that he was ready to return to all-out war. Iran, meanwhile, has proved resilient despite having faced weeks of heavy bombing, betting that its ability to effectively close the Strait of Hormuz — a crucial passageway for the world’s oil and natural gas — gives it a strong bargaining chip.

Tuesday’s takeaways: Platner’s big night, Clyburn carries on and Trump’s support gets mixed results

Graham Platner has secured Maine’s Democratic Senate nomination, setting up a high-stakes battle against longtime incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins in a race that could determine party control of the U.S. Senate.

Nevada, South Carolina and North Dakota hosted primary elections Tuesday, but much of the political world was focused on Maine’s high-stakes U.S. Senate contest.

The results were never in question. Neither Republican incumbent Sen. Susan Collins nor Democratic challenger Graham Platner faced serious opposition for their party’s nomination. And yet Tuesday marked an especially significant moment for Platner, the embattled veteran and oyster farmer, who is fighting to rebuild his credibility in a campaign rocked by controversy.

Elsewhere, President Donald Trump’s clout within his party was tested anew in states like South Carolina and Nevada, where he endorsed his favored candidates. Democrats hoped to build momentum in Nevada as part of a broader push to reclaim key governor’s seats.

House approves $70 billion for immigration enforcement for 3 years, sending bill to Trump

A bill to provide nearly $70 billion for immigration enforcement narrowly passed the House on Tuesday and now goes to President Donald Trump for his signature, bolstering the administration’s deportation agenda for the remainder of his time in the White House.

Republicans used their majority to get the bill over the finish line, funding a pair of Homeland Security agencies through the next three years. The bill passed by a vote of 214-212, over the objections of Democrats. Trump is expected to sign it into law on Wednesday.

The White House says the bill will provide $38 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, $26 billion for the Border Patrol and another $5 billion to cover unforeseen costs. It frontloads routine annual funding, ensuring a virtually uninterrupted flow of money as the Trump administration seeks to deport some 1 million people per year.

Damaged Cellphone of Anna Kepner Emerges as Crucial Evidence in Stepbrother’s Cruise Ship Murder Case

0

Anna Kepner’s cellphone has become a critical piece of circumstantial evidence as federal investigators focus their attention on her stepbrother, Timothy Hudson, in connection with the murder investigation of the Florida teenager.

Kepner was found dead on November 7, 2025, in cabin 8343 aboard the Carnival Horizon. She had been sharing the cabin with Hudson, who was 16 at the time, and a 13-year-old relative. Hudson now faces charges related to the alleged sexual assault and murder of Kepner.

Prosecutors have highlighted that surveillance footage does not show Kepner exiting the cabin after she returned there the night before her death.

Following the discovery of Kepner’s body, investigators thoroughly searched the cabin but were unable to locate her cellphone. According to a recent federal transcript, family members informed the FBI that the 18-year-old from Florida was “never without” her phone.

Cruise ship personnel also said they had not taken it or seen it in the room, prosecutors said. Investigators later found the phone in the ship’s lost and found.

According to the transcript, a crew member had recovered it from a trash bin near the rear of the ship, on the starboard side. Prosecutors said the phone appeared to have been seriously damaged, with a broken screen.

The government said investigators then reviewed surveillance video and ship Wi-Fi records to determine how the phone may have moved from the cabin to the trash bin.

Prosecutors said the ship’s wireless network kept records showing when devices connected to routers in different areas of the ship.

They said those records placed Kepner’s phone along a route that corresponded with her stepbrother’s movements on the morning of Nov. 7.

According to the transcript, Hudson left cabin 8343 at about 9:26 a.m. At the exact same time, prosecutors said, Kepner’s phone began connecting to routers along the same general path Hudson took through the ship.

At about 9:29 a.m., the phone connected near deck 10 in the Lido Marketplace area onboard the Carnival Cruise ship.

At about 9:34 a.m., it connected near a smoking area on deck 11, where Hudson was seen smoking.

At about 9:39 a.m., it connected near deck 12, where surveillance showed Hudson walking on the jogging track.

Hudson, the transcript revealed, returned to the cabin at about 9:48 a.m.

At about 9:50 a.m., he left again. Prosecutors said video showed him holding something in his left hand and appearing to reach into the front pocket of his sweatshirt. He then walked toward the rear of the ship.

At about 9:52 a.m., surveillance showed him near the area of the trash bin where the phone was later found. Prosecutors acknowledged the trash bin itself was not directly visible on the video, but said Hudson remained in the area for about 22 seconds before returning to the cabin.

The government said the phone’s router data placed it near the trash-bin area at about 9:55 a.m., while Hudson had returned to cabin 8343.

Prosecutors argued that sequence showed Hudson had taken Kepner’s phone from the cabin and discarded it.

Defense attorney Eric Cohen challenged the strength of the prosecution’s deduction during cross-examination of FBI Special Agent Andrew Delvalle.

Cohen said that Hudson had been on an upper deck and asked whether he could have thrown the phone into the water. Delvalle agreed he could have but said he did not.

Cohen also asked whether the router data showed only that the phone’s path was “somewhat similar” to Hudson’s route. Delvalle agreed.

Prosecutors said search warrants were obtained for Hudson and Kepner’s phones.

According to the government, the phones did not reveal information about Kepner’s killing or about the relationship between Kepner and Hudson.

The phone evidence was one part of the government’s broader probable cause argument, along with the cabin timeline, medical evidence and DNA evidence.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Edwin G. Torres found probable cause, citing the circumstantial evidence, including the movements of people in and out of the cabin, evidence of sexual contact and the movement of Kepner’s phone when she was not with it.

But Torres also said the weight of the evidence was “a much closer call.” If convicted, Hudson could face a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Hudson’s case is expected to go to trial in September. News Media has reached out to Hudson’s attorneys for comment.

Serena Williams Returns to the Court with Her Daughters Cheering Her On at Queen’s Event

0

On Tuesday, a crowd of over 9,000 tennis enthusiasts gathered at Queen’s to witness the return of a legendary player to the court. While nearly everyone seemed thrilled, there were two exceptions.

Serena Williams, at 44, made her professional comeback after a four-year hiatus at the HSBC Championship doubles in West London, securing a win with her partner, Victoria Mboko.

Defying expectations, the pair triumphed over the No. 3 seeds, Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe, with a score of 7-6, 6-2. Watching proudly from the stands were Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, and their daughters, Olympia and Adira, aged eight and two.

In a post-match interview, the American tennis icon reflected on the ‘special occasion,’ marking nearly five years since she last took a break from the sport at the US Open.

However, it seems the victory might not be as unforgettable for her young daughters.

Williams joked: ‘Adira wanted to go to the toy store and Olympia wanted to know what’s for dinner.’

The 23-time Grand Slam winner and sister of Venus said the time had come to ‘evolve’ away from tennis when she announced her departure aged 40.

It was a year later that she and her millionaire husband, who founded Reddit, welcomed Adira, their youngest, six years after the birth of first-born Olympia.

But Williams admitted during her hiatus that she ‘missed it (tennis) so much’ and, ahead of her return, revealed that Adira and Olympia were the reason behind her sensational comeback.

She said: ‘It’s really about my kids getting to see me play. Olympia is a little bit older, Adira is very young, but it’s also still moments like that.’

Playing alongside a partner some 25 years her junior, Williams’ return in the British sunshine however got off to a somewhat concerning start.

Clad in a pink skirt and her signature Nike white vest, Williams’ first involvement came in the third point, when she netted a routine forehand volley sparking nervous murmurs from the crowd.

But the serial winner soon bounced back, drawing raucous cheers from supporters when she hustled across the net and volleyed away two winners in a row en route to a hold.

It was 92 minutes and two sets on that her victorious return was sealed with a glorious first serve. It was a shot reminiscent of the American in her prime.

She greeted her family with a warm embrace post-match, and gushed about playing with her new doubles partner during an interview.

‘It was so much fun,’ Williams said. ‘I had so much fun playing with Victoria. She was really able to hold up the team and play big on the big points. I could rely on her. We have never played together but it felt so natural.’

On what was her first appearance at Queen’s, named after Queen Victoria, she added: ‘I never got to play here – it was always just the men. It feels really special to play somewhere so iconic.

‘You can do anything at any age. It doesn’t matter as long as you’re healthy and you take care of yourself and you’re happy and you’re doing your best. It’s really all that matters.’

The seven-time Wimbledon champion was, however, modest about her performance. When asked for a rating, she replied: ‘What do you think? A C-minus?’

The occasion marked the first time Williams had graced a tennis court in four years, after she took a step away from the sport in 2022

It prompted a supportive response from Mboko, who has previously admitted that Williams was her idol growing up. She said: ‘Don’t be too hard on yourself. I thought she was moving great.’

The victory means the North American duo progress to the second round later this week, when they will face Canada’s Leylah Fernandez and Germany’s Laura Siegemund.

With the start of Wimbledon now just 19 days away, Williams’ return sparked excitement she could also feature at the iconic tournament.

But whether the icon will grace the green grass of south-west London once again remains a mystery, and she was coy about such a prospect after yesterday’s triumph.

‘It’s just a day at a time,’ she said. ‘I still have a little time to decide, and they have been great about giving me that time to decide.’

Princess Kate Honors Fallen Heroes in Heartfelt Tribute Following Navy Helicopter Tragedy

0

On June 3, 2026, Princess Catherine led heartfelt tributes to honor the memory of three Royal Navy personnel who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash during a training mission in Devon.

The Princess of Wales, at 44 years old, expressed her profound sympathy following the incident involving a Royal Navy Merlin Mk4 helicopter, which crashed near Sourton Down, close to Okehampton, in the early hours of Wednesday morning. In her statement, she conveyed that both she and Prince William are deeply saddened and are keeping the victims’ families and friends “in our hearts” as they navigate this difficult time.

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the loss of three service members due to the crash, which occurred amid a training exercise connecting significant Royal Navy bases located in the southwest of England.

Currently, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash. Emergency services, military personnel, and specialist recovery teams remain actively engaged at the crash site, working diligently to uncover further details surrounding this tragic event.

An investigation is now underway, with emergency services, military personnel and specialist recovery teams remaining at the scene.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are understood to be planning to contact the families privately, while King Charles, 77, has also been informed and is expected to write to those affected.

In a message shared on X, Catherine expressed her condolences to those mourning the loss of the crew members.

She said: “I was so saddened to hear of the tragic loss of three service personnel from the Fleet Air Arm following a helicopter training exercise last night.

“William and I hold their families and friends in our hearts at this very difficult time.”

The tribute comes during a period in which Catherine has increasingly returned to public duties following her cancer treatment, while continuing to support military organisations and causes linked to the armed forces.

William, 43, a former RAF search and rescue pilot, has long maintained close links with military personnel and veterans through his royal work.

General Sir Gwyn Jenkins, the First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff, confirmed the Navy deaths and paid tribute to the crew.

He said: “I am deeply saddened to share the news that three crew members onboard a Royal Navy Merlin Mk4 helicopter have died after it crashed in the early hours of this morning near Sourton, Devon.

“I know this will come as a huge shock to all in our Naval community, and my deepest condolences go out to the families, friends and loved ones impacted by this tragedy.

“I would like to thank Devon and Cornwall Police and the search and rescue teams who responded to the incident this morning. An investigation is under way.”

The Ministry of Defence later confirmed the families of the three personnel had been informed.

A spokesperson said: “It is with deep sadness that we can confirm three members of the Royal Navy have died during a helicopter training exercise on Wednesday, June 3 near Sourton, Devon.

“The families of the service personnel have been informed and have requested a period of grace before further details are released. Our thoughts and sympathies are with their families and friends at this sad time.”

Defence Secretary John Healey described himself as “devastated” by the deaths, while Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer addressed the incident during PM’s Questions.

He said he was “aware” of a Royal Navy helicopter crash, adding: “This will be a deeply worrying time for the families and more information will be set out as soon as possible.”

Witnesses living near the crash site described hearing unusual sounds before seeing a flash in the sky.

Eddie Amhof told ITV: “By the time I got out of bed and got to the window it sort of moved away a little bit, say half a mile, then all of a sudden no noise at all.

“The engines was gone and I thought to myself, well that wasn’t long enough for him to disappear out of ear-sight. So the next thing at the same time as the engines went on it, there was this almighty flash of red which lit up the sky.

“So I assumed from that, worked out obviously that he’d hit the ground. About five to six minutes after that, there was a big bang, an explosion.”

Police said officers were called at approximately 3.45am following reports of a military helicopter crash near Okehampton.

Road closures remained in place around the A30 and A386 throughout the day as investigators examined the scene.

The Merlin helicopter has served with the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm since 2000 and has been used on operations including troop transport, maritime patrol and missions in Afghanistan.

The aircraft can carry three crew members and up to 24 troops.

Key Takeaways from Xi Jinping’s Pivotal Visit to North Korea

0

IN BRIEF

  • The leaders agreed to strengthen exchanges in diplomacy, law enforcement, military and expand economic cooperation.
  • Some hold concerns for the reported lack of discussions on North Korea’s nuclear weapons development.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has embarked on a visit to North Korea, engaging in a series of discussions with the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un.

The leaders have reportedly reached a “significant consensus” concerning the evolution of bilateral relations in what they describe as a “new era,” according to statements from Xi.

What happened?

Xi made his arrival in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, on Monday, marking his first official trip to the reclusive nation since 2019.

Accompanied by his wife and several high-ranking officials, Xi is on a two-day mission, which he asserts aims to elevate the enduring partnership between the two nations to “new heights.”

Stay informed with our reliable updates. Subscribe for free daily news insights and analysis delivered directly to your inbox.

The visit follows Xi’s hosting of a string of world leaders, including US President Donald Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin, in Beijing.

State media images showed Xi and Kim beaming as they shook hands, with the Chinese leader receiving a lavish welcome ceremony featuring a red-carpet military salute and cheering crowds.

What were the outcomes?

Xi said he had reached “an important consensus with Kim on developing China-DPRK relations in the new era”, China’s Xinhua news agency reported, using North Korea’s official acronym.

The leaders agreed to put the two nations’ friendly relations “on a more solid basis”, North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency said.

Chinese state media reported Xi told Kim their countries “should strengthen exchanges in diplomacy, law enforcement [and] the military” and expand economic cooperation.

He also called for expanded economic cooperation, citing the recent reopening of border crossings and transport links.

China has long been North Korea’s largest economic partner, with US and South Korean estimates indicating that China has accounted for almost all of North Korea’s annual foreign trade in recent years.

In March, flights and passenger train services between the two nations resumed after a six-year hiatus due to pandemic-era border closures and their aftermath.

What about North Korea’s nukes?

Official readouts and state media reports have not said whether Xi and Kim discussed North Korea’s nuclear weapons development, for which the nation languishes under international sanctions.

Last month, the White House announced that the Chinese leader and Trump had “confirmed their shared goal to denuclearise North Korea” during their summit in Beijing.

Kim has repeatedly vowed never to give up his nuclear arsenal, and his sister said before Xi’s visit that the program was North Korea’s “line of no retreat”.

The absence of denuclearisation from official statements means the summit effectively “appeared to have been a forum where China granted Pyongyang’s rights to nuclear weapons”, Lee Ho-ryung of the Korea Institute for Defence Analyses told AFP.

In return, it appears Kim supported China’s “One-China principle regarding Taiwan”, she added, referring to the self-ruled island China claims as its own.

“Our party and government will fully support the policy and stand of the Chinese party and government to defend the core interests on the ‘one-China’ principle,” KCNA said.

How did Kim emerge from the talks?

Analysts noted that the summit took place as Kim enjoys an enhanced global status — a result of backing Russia with troops and munitions in its war with Ukraine.

Kim is “no longer just a recipient of aid, but a provider of critical military assets”, having “successfully leveraged his nuisance value into strategic relevance”, Seong-Hyon Lee, a visiting scholar at the Harvard University Asia Centre, told AFP.

Hong Min, an analyst at the Korea Institute for National Unification, said the meeting reflected the convergence of “North Korea’s desire to cement its status as an indispensable strategic actor through its nuclear arsenal” and “China’s expanding ambitions to shape the Northeast Asian order”.

Besides Xi and Putin, Kim’s meetings with leaders from Belarus, Laos and Vietnam since last year have proven that North Korea is no longer such a diplomatic pariah, said Minseon Ku, a diplomacy professor at DePaul University.

China and North Korea have a military alliance centred on a 1961 treaty obliging each side to come to the other’s aid in the event of an armed attack.

North Korea is the only country with which China has such a military agreement. Despite North Korea also signing a mutual defence treaty with Russia in 2024.

China appears to aim “to offer economic incentives while monitoring North Korea to ensure it does not act against Beijing’s interests in the diplomatic and military spheres”, Hong said.

Sources Indicate Husband of Missing Bahamas Boater May Have Escaped the U.S.

0

A man at the heart of a murder probe concerning his wife’s mysterious disappearance in the Bahamas might have left the United States.

Brian Hooker, aged 58, asserts that his 55-year-old wife, Lynette, disappeared into the ocean after falling from a dinghy amidst turbulent conditions near Elbow Cay in the Abaco Islands on April 4.

However, the situation has escalated into a murder investigation, with authorities citing GPS data from Brian’s phone that allegedly contradicts his initial account given to investigators.

Brian, an experienced boater, claimed he paddled for hours to reach a nearby island after Lynette went overboard. Yet, investigators now suspect they originally searched the wrong location in their efforts to find Lynette.

US Coast Guard divers are now combing a different area in the Sea of Abaco, hoping to uncover any clues that might reveal Lynette’s fate.

Smirk of the century

Meanwhile, those who know Brian suggested he may have crossed the border into Mexico while his exact whereabouts remain unknown.

One source claiming to be a close friend of Hooker’s told Fox News he may have crossed the border from California by land or water, noting that he has extensive boating experience.

‘You’re telling me Brian, six-foot-four, Marine Corps tattoo, ultra-white hair, smirk of the century – has not had one person at a Safeway, a QT [QuikTrip] or a Buc-ee’s or In-N-Out spot him?’ the friend questioned.

Another unidentified source also claimed he and Brian used to cross the US border from San Diego into Tijuana, Mexico for day trips – and border patrol did not always require them to show a passport or even an ID despite federal law.

But a former federal prosecutor seemed to doubt the possibility that Brian had fled.

‘You can’t fail more than if you let an individual who’s the subject of a potential murder of his wife not only leave the Bahamas to go to the United States, but then disappear altogether,’ Julie Rendelman said of investigators. ‘They would have a lot of answering to do.

‘I am going to guess they know where he is, but they are not acting on it until they’re more comfortable with their case.’

Brian has not been charged in the disappearance of his wife.

Released without charge

But as the investigation now continues, authorities have been granted access to search the couple’s vessel, the Soulmate, which was taken to Florida after the tragedy.

It was seized by the US Coast Guard at the outset of the case, and is set to be scoured by investigators at a warehouse in Fort Lauderdale for any clues.

Former FBI agent Nicole Parker explained that even though the case unfolded in the Bahamas, the bureau became involved in the investigation because the suspect and victim are both US citizens and their vessel was registered to the US, which she said ‘gives the United States jurisdiction.’

Brian was initially detained by Bahamian officials for five days following his wife’s disappearance, but was released without charge and has since returned to the US.

He has repeatedly proclaimed his innocence.

‘I’ve never harmed Lynette, and I never would harm Lynette, and I want to find Lynette,’ he told NBC News in April.

Brian’s attorney Terrel Butler also previously told the Daily Mail: ‘He categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing.’

High-tech camera

In his telling of the disappearance, Brian claimed he and his wife were headed toward their sailboat in a dinghy when they hit rough conditions on the water.

He said they paddled against strong currents until Lynette was knocked overboard around 7:30pm.

Brian said he desperately paddled to the shore for hours, and only reached the island of Great Abaco at around 4am the next morning.

However, his timeline came under question, with the couple’s friend Daniel Danforth and a local bartender among those who have publicly questioned the story.

Danforth said last month that while Brian said he searched the waters for Lynette for hours, he allegedly failed to inform investigators about a high-tech camera known as a FLIR system, which may have helped in the search.

Danforth told Fox News that the camera ‘would have been my first choice like if I was trying to rescue somebody,’ but claimed that Brian did not appear to have told investigators about it.

‘I told them about it and they were very interested,’ he said. ‘That was the first they had heard about that system being on the boat. And so they told me that they were going to file for a warrant of seizure for that because it has a serial number.’

Paddle with one oar

Danforth previously shared messages between him and Brian in which Brian said he saw his wife swimming ‘toward the sailboat’ before they ‘lost sight of each other pretty quickly.’

‘I drifted and tried to paddle with one oar for the next seven hours until I washed up behind the shore of the next island over and was able to get some help finally,’ he Facebook messaged Danforth.

Local bartender Ken, 38, who did not give his last name, also said last month that he served the husband and wife on the night Lynette went missing, and said he did not believe the timeline added up.

He said the couple got drinks at the Abaco Inn in Elbow Cay, Bahamas in the early evening and downed several rounds of rum and cokes.

But while he thought at the time that their encounter was unremarkable, Ken started to think Brian’s story didn’t make sense when he saw the news of Lynette’s disappearance.

Marsh Harbor

He said he found it ‘weird’ that Brian told authorities he paddled to Marsh Harbor, a cove a few miles across from the bar in Elbow Cay, through the night after Lynette ‘fell overboard’ – believing it should not have taken him so long.

‘What catches my eye is they left here at 7, 7:30pm and [her going missing] supposedly happened right after they left here, and he didn’t make it over there until 4 a.m. or something like that, in 25-mph winds,’ he told the New York Post.

‘It’s only four miles that way. It shouldn’t have taken eight to 10 hours to get there,’ he said.

‘Even if he was only floating, it should have been a much quicker time.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Customs and Border Patrol and Hooker’s attorney for comment.
