In a fierce battle that has captivated Hollywood and beyond, renowned producer Charles Rosin has found himself at the center of a heated dispute with progressive activists in Los Angeles. Rosin, known for his work on iconic shows like “90210” and “Dawson’s Creek,” is being harshly criticized by far-left groups, who have branded him a “bigoted puppet-master” due to his opposition to a contentious homeless housing initiative.

The 74-year-old producer has publicly lambasted what he describes as a “devastating” smear campaign orchestrated by social justice advocates. This conflict has put Rosin at loggerheads with the LA Forward group and several City Council candidates, following his vocal campaign against the proposed housing project.

At the heart of the controversy is a plan by Venice Community Housing, a local nonprofit, to construct a 120-unit complex for the homeless. The development, however, comes with a hefty price tag of $2.5 million per unit, a cost that has sparked considerable debate among residents and city officials alike.

Originally conceived a decade ago, the project has stalled, largely due to legal challenges spearheaded by Rosin and his neighbors. They argue that not only is the project excessively expensive, but it also poses environmental concerns and has bypassed necessary procedural scrutiny.

The project, which was first floated ten years ago, has been paused after Rosin and fellow neighbors filed a lawsuit claiming it was too expensive, bad for the environment and did not go through the proper processes.

Far-left City Council candidate Faizah Malik and Venice Community Housing sued the city two years ago for not moving forward with the idea.

The lawsuit accused Mayor Karen Bass, City Attorney Heidi Feldstein Soto and Councilmember Traci Park of siding with a “well-resourced, predominantly white minority” opposed to the project.

They also recently subpoenaed Rosin for all his communications on the matter.

In court documents, organizations fighting for the development painted him as a “bigoted puppet-master,” arguing that he opposed the project because it was proposed by people of color and primarily intended to serve communities of color, the documents say.

But Rosin revealed he is taking the war back to them, ridiculing the bigotry claims and pointing out his opposition is purely based on policy and land use.

He told the California Post: “What makes this so devastating is unless somebody is openly using racist rhetoric or advocating racist policies, how are they supposed to prove they’re not racist?”

He continued: “They have put me in the position of having to spend my own resources trying to prove I’m not a racist, even though there has never been anything in my life to suggest that’s true.

“There are so many examples throughout my life. But how do you prove you’re not racist?” Rosin said he believed his long public record would make clear the fight over Venice Dell was just about land use.

He also said using legal avenues to silence private citizens like him set a dangerous precedence.

He added: “Why should anybody get involved with the tough policy issues facing us if the ultimate consequence is going to be character assassination?

“I erroneously assumed that as an individual, I had the approval of participating because all I ever thought would happen is that eventually the councilman would hear what everybody in the neighborhood was after and look for compromise.”

Last week Rosin was served with court documents after becoming the figurehead for the movement against the project.

He is one of three directors of the Coalition for Safe Coastal Development, a volunteer neighborhood group formed in 2021 to wage a legal and public fight against Venice Dell.

The group said its objections focused on flooding risks, tsunami hazards, traffic, parking loss, beach access and soaring taxpayer costs.

Rosin’s attorney Christian Wrede said the racism accusation became the foundation for the aggressive subpoena campaign targeting him and the tiny volunteer-run group.

He told The Post: “Their theory of relevance was that the coalition was sort of the core of this group of homeless-hating, white racists who somehow got the city’s top brass to do their bidding and squash the project.”

But public records show the project is controversial among more than just the group, with Wrede pointing to the Venice Neighborhood Council’s opposition and LADOT’s warnings about liability concerns.

Some prominent black Venice families also opposed having their name associated with the project, asking to have it removed.

In January, coalition members urged the city to continue fighting the lawsuits, calling the development a “boondoggle under the guise of community benefit” and warning costs could hit $233 million.

Malik, one of the attorneys tied to the original LA Forward lawsuits, entered the City Council race against Park in 2025, with Venice Dell becoming a central campaign issue.

She said: “I was proud to be one of the lead attorneys on the Venice Dell case when it was filed — a fair housing lawsuit on behalf of community members and taxpayers who have been harmed by the years long obstruction of affordable housing on the Westside.

“I cannot comment on recent litigation strategy as I have been ethically walled off from the case since I filed to run for office in order to protect the integrity of the case.”

Attorney Jonathan Jager, from Public Counsel, which is representing LA Forward, added: “Public Counsel represents a nonprofit and Los Angeles residents harmed by the City’s obstruction of a duly approved affordable housing project.

“Our lawsuit is about bringing desperately needed affordable housing to one of the most expensive communities in Los Angeles — housing that will serve disabled residents and people working their way out of homelessness.

“Subpoenas are a standard tool in any litigation, and Mr. Rosin is a material witness. Our clients allege that City officials interfered with this project in part because a vocal group of residents, including Mr. Rosin, opposed affordable housing intended for disabled and formerly unhoused people in their neighborhood.

“This subpoena has nothing to do with Mr. Rosin’s opinions. No one is questioning his right to hold them, and he is not on trial.

“We are seeking documents, pursuant to our rights under state law, that are relevant to our clients’ allegations.

“This process is about uncovering the facts, ensuring accountability, and allowing this fair housing lawsuit to move forward.”

Spencer Pratt, a candidate in the Los Angeles mayoral race, has leveled accusations against a rival, claiming they employed fake supporters for a campaign advertisement.

Pratt took to Twitter on Saturday night to share images highlighting the difference between his supporters and those in an ad by fellow candidate Nithya Raman. He showcased a gathering of what he described as ‘real Angelenos’ at his event, contrasting it with a scene depicting ’30 paid actors on a closed set’ for Raman’s commercial.

At 42, Pratt is among the top three contenders in a fiercely competitive mayoral race that seems headed for a runoff. Running as an independent, he is up against the current officeholder, Karen Bass, and City Councilmember Raman. Notably, Pratt has been a registered Republican since 2020.

In his social media post, Pratt, who gained fame as a reality television star, declared, “I don’t have to hire actors to draw a crowd. I merely show up, and genuine Angelenos rally. We are winning.”

Responding to Pratt’s claims, a spokesperson for Raman dismissed the allegations on Sunday, telling the Daily Mail, “This is just another Spencer Pratt conspiracy theory. The individuals in Nithya’s video are genuine supporters, not hired actors.”

A new poll by the California Post shows Pratt ahead in the race by a tiny margin, leading at 30.1 percent support. Bass is close behind at 29.5 percent, and Raman is in third place at 23.4 percent, according to the poll. 

No candidate is likely to earn more than 50 percent of votes in the primary election on Tuesday, which will lead to a second, runoff election between the top two candidates.

Pratt has been likened to Trump by his opponents, and his comment in the tweet evokes similar language used by the president the same day after five of the nine musicians slated to perform at America’s 250th birthday concert dropped out due to political backlash.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said he wanted to turn the event into a rally and dubbed himself the ‘Number One Attraction anywhere in the World’ who can draw ‘much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime,’ with just a microphone and a good speech.

Comparisons between Pratt and the president have been drawn by Bass, the incumbent, who during an Instagram livestream on Saturday said: ‘You have a failed reality TV star who wants to be famous.

‘We know what it means if you put somebody who is a reality TV star in a seat of power,’ the current mayor of Los Angeles added, likely in reference to Trump’s tenure as host of The Apprentice. Pratt is known for his role in the reality show, The Hills.

Observers also recently drew connections between Pratt and Trump over a story the mayoral candidate told during a Fox News interview. 

Pratt was discussing his debate against Bass and Raman, which a majority of polled viewers said they believed he won.

‘I walked off that stage, and this young high school kid came right up to me, and he said, “Thank you, sir, for being the only one that told the truth up there on the stage,”‘ Pratt recounted. 

The anecdote led to comparisons to Trump’s pattern of telling stories about his supporters telling him ‘thank you, sir’ when he recalls his accomplishments.

Homelessness, housing affordability and the health of Hollywood’s filmmaking industry are among the top issues in the race for mayor of Los Angeles, and Pratt has been hammering those issues.

He went on a lengthy X rant on Friday, calling out his opponents. ‘Karen and Nithya treat productions like a nuisance, and they’ve killed our golden goose,’ he wrote. 

The husband of Heidi Montag promised he would ‘pull out ALL the stops to eliminate every lame reason that makes filming in LA a pain in the neck.’

His proposal includes making permitting and parking approvals ‘cheap’ and ‘easy,’ increasing LAPD patrols in hotspots to protect the crew, and removing addicts and the homeless from the area.

‘We need to win back these productions, and tax credits aren’t enough to do it,’ he wrote. ‘They just need filming to be easier and safer in LA. They need LA to be nicer, and less disgusting.’

Pratt’s platform appears to resonate with voters, as the candidate’s polled share of support among likely voters shot up from seven percent in February to around 30 percent just three months later.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Pratt’s and Bass’s campaigns for comment. 

On Saturday, former President Trump voiced his disapproval over the upcoming concert planned to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, urging its cancellation following the withdrawal of several artists from the Great American State Fair on the National Mall.

Trump took to Truth Social, suggesting that instead of featuring what he described as “overpriced singers” with “boring” music, the occasion should be marked by a grand “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY” to better resonate with the public.

He continued by comparing the situation to his decision to end his involvement with the Kennedy Center. Trump criticized a recent judicial decision preventing him from contributing to the center, claiming it was made by a “Highly Conflicted, Crooked Federal Judge,” and asserting his efforts would have significantly enhanced the center.

The former president also expressed frustration about a Friday ruling mandating the removal of his name from the Kennedy Center within two weeks. Trump decried the ruling, labeling the U.S. court system as “rigged” against him.

“Without my involvement, the Kennedy Center is doomed to fail both structurally and financially,” Trump stated, calling for the impeachment of U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, whom he accused of bias in handling his cases.

Several artists have withdrawn from performing at the June 25 celebration, stating that they signed on to perform at a nonpartisan event. Country singer Martina McBride said she “was assured this was a nonpartisan event that was meant to celebrate ALL 50 states.”

“The artists were never told about any political involvement with the event,” Young MC wrote in a Facebook post. “And despite the claims by the organizers that the event is non-partisan, SPIN magazine describes it as ‘Trump-backed.’ I hope to perform in D.C. in the near future at an event that is not so politically charged.”

Trump lambasted the artists who pulled out of performing as “Third Rate ‘Artists,’” and said he will deliver a “major speech” instead. He added that he directed his representatives “to look at the feasibility of doing an AMERICA IS BACK Rally on Wednesday, Washington, D.C., same time, same location.”

A spokesperson with Freedom 250, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to organize these anniversary events, previously told The Hill that the celebratory events will “honor our history and engage all Americans — welcoming all who share our goal of commemorating this milestone in a way that uplifts and unites America.”

For Shanae Sanders, a mother from Brooklyn, the Knicks’ latest playoff success is tinged with both joy and sorrow. While she revels in the team’s achievements, the celebrations also bring back memories of her son, Tristan Sanders, a passionate Knicks fan whose murder in 2024 remains unresolved.

“I just wish he was here,” Shanae expressed, reflecting on her 15-year-old son, Tristan.

During a watch party at Radio City Music Hall, Shanae couldn’t help but think, “Oh man, if he could see this with me, if we could enjoy this together. We would be hugging each other or shouting,” she shared. “We’ve been waiting for this for so long, so I am celebrating for him, too. I feel his spirit is helping them to win.”

Tristan’s life was tragically cut short on the evening of October 27, 2024. While standing with friends outside the Albany Houses public housing complex in Crown Heights, gunshots erupted, and Tristan was struck in the chest.

He was quickly taken to Kings County Hospital, where, sadly, he was pronounced dead.

The fatal shooting was part of a week-long spurt of youth violence in the Big Apple and, despite an NYPD manhunt, Tristan’s killer has never been hunted down and held accountable.

The teen, Sanders’ only child, was a freshman at Boys and Girls High School — and a basketball nut.

“I grew up watching the Knicks and I would have my son watching the games with me and he grew to love them,” Sanders said. “That was his team. I had a Knicks-themed 5th birthday for him and he loved it!”

The grieving mom is now finding a new connection with the son she lost, celebrating as the Knicks prepare to face off against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals starting Wednesday — the first time the team has reached that pinnacle since 1999 with a chance for their first champions in 53 years.

Not lost on Sanders is the fact that the historic playoff run is coming in June — which is National Gun Violence Awareness Month.

“I’m a part of this organization, NAC [Not Another Child],:” she said. “I don’t want this to keep happening because it’s disheartening.  He was one of multiple young men who lost their lives at the time.”

For her, the Knicks have provided some healing.

“I’m still mourning him so it’s hard to celebrate but with them winning, it brings a little joy,” Sanders told The Post. “I just wish he was here.”

In court documents obtained by The Sun, show executives fought back, stating: ‘The participants were advised to use lavatories and complete activities before retiring to their beds.

‘An acceptable level of night-time lighting had been collectively agreed on the first night and there were no objections made. 

‘The camp layout was not varied or altered, but fixed. There was a smooth unobstructed earthen surface around the campfire and bench vicinity and this path surface continued out to the lavatories.’

They added that Dickinson was ‘the author of her own misfortune’ and that she ‘was attempting unnecessarily to pass between or over one of the fixed campfire benches when she could have walked round them.’

Dr Lee is no stranger to handling celebrity makeovers, having previously worked on Caitlyn Jenner and Dylan Mulvaney. 

He shared that Dickinson underwent an endoscopic brow and mid-facelift, a deep plane facelift, a dual plane neck lift, a subnasal lip lift and an extensive fat transfer to turn back the clock.

On top of that, she also had a full face CO2 laser resurfacing to rejuvenate her complexion.

Dr Lee, who is a triple board-certified surgeon, said that Dickinson was ‘beyond ecstatic’ while sharing the results.

Photos taken three months after the procedures show Dickinson looking noticeably younger and fresher than she did before, with fewer wrinkles and much smoother skin.
