A Chicago woman has succumbed to her injuries nearly two weeks after being critically hurt in a hit-and-run incident in Humboldt Park, authorities have confirmed.

The unfortunate incident took place on May 11 at approximately 7:56 p.m. in the 3100 block of Franklin Boulevard, according to information from the Chicago police department.

A 45-year-old woman was tragically struck while crossing the street by a maroon-colored vehicle heading east, police reported.

Following the accident, she was immediately transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she remained in critical condition until her passing.

The woman was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said the woman died Sunday at Accent Care at Macneal in Berwyn, nearly two weeks after the crash. She was identified as 45-year-old Lisa Barber of Chicago.

Chicago police said the driver in the hit-and-run crash fled the scene after the collision.

Carolyn Harvey lives across the street from the crash scene, and she told ABC7 the day after the crash that she saw police activity when she got home from work.

“I just saw the flashing light and the police in the boulevard,” Harvey said.

People who live in the neighborhood say the stretch of Franklin Boulevard has long been a concern because of speeding traffic and dangerous driving behavior.

“Cars don’t stop. Pedestrians try to walk across the street, but there’s no help to help them across,” Angel Rodriguez said.

Detectives with the Chicago Police Major Accidents Investigation Unit are investigating.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen a maroon-colored vehicle with possible front-end damage near Franklin Boulevard Monday night to contact police immediately.

Memorial Day Forecast: Enjoy a Sun-Kissed Holiday with Just a Touch of Dryness!

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is set to experience slightly drier air moving in from the Atlantic, which will help reduce the likelihood of rain on Memorial Day. While there’s still a possibility of an isolated shower or thunderstorm, the chances have decreased to about 30%, lower than the previous day.

Slightly drier conditions for Memorial Day.

Coastal areas may see a few showers in the morning, but the sea breeze will soon shift these chances inland towards I-75 by the afternoon. Expect temperatures to climb into the low 90s, with the heat index making it feel close to 100ºF.

Hourly forecast for Memorial Day.

As we approach mid-week, rain chances will rise significantly due to the arrival of tropical moisture from the Caribbean. This moisture will become more pronounced starting Thursday and continuing through the weekend, leading to an increase in storm activity. Despite the showers, high temperatures will linger around 90 degrees until the storms provide some cooling relief.

Increased moisture leads to higher rain chances next week.

UCLA Basketball Star Donovan Dent Announces Retirement: A Surprising End to a Promising Career

0

After a tumultuous final college season marked by a fluctuating passion for the game, Donovan Dent has decided to close the chapter on his basketball career.

“I’ve hung up my professional basketball shoes,” the former UCLA point guard shared with the Albuquerque Journal. He also announced plans to channel his expertise into training young athletes in his adopted state of New Mexico.

However, there remains a glimmer of possibility that Dent might reconsider his retirement. He hinted at joining several former teammates from New Mexico in The Basketball Tournament, a competition offering a $2 million prize to the winning team of the 16-team challenge this summer.

Dent’s decision to step away from the game concludes an unexpected turn of events for the once-star player of the Lobos. He had been an honorable mention All-American before transferring to UCLA for his senior year, where he was seen as a promising NBA prospect poised to lead the Bruins deep into the NCAA Tournament.

However, that anticipated success story never came to fruition.

Struggling with the heightened expectations that accompanied a bigger stage and a massive NIL paycheck while also playing for a defensive-oriented coach, Dent was rarely the same player as a Bruin that he was as a Lobo.

An early season foot injury and torn abdominal muscles combined with better defenders at the highest level of the college game compounded his problems.

“I was at rock bottom, for sure, during the start of the season,” Dent told the Big Ten Network several months ago.

His shooting percentages plummeted and he had trouble finishing at the rim. Josh Giles, who continued to be a confidant after having coached Dent at Centennial High in Corona, told the California Post in March that the point guard no longer felt universally loved like he had been at New Mexico.

“Now all of a sudden you’re getting text messages and DMs where people are saying like, ‘I hope you kill yourself, I hope you tear your ACL tomorrow, I hope you blow out your Achilles,’ ” Giles said, “and you’re reading those things, I think it screws people up sometimes and I don’t know if Donnie would admit it – he might just shine it off – but I think it was harder for him than he may have realized.”

Dent finally started pulling out of his funk after a midseason conversation with UCLA coach Mick Cronin following a loss to Ohio State.

Cronin told his point guard to “go down swinging” in an effort to end his college career without regrets. That was also around the time that Dent began to feel fully recovered from his injuries.

Starting with a 23-point, 13-assist, 2-turnover breakthrough against Purdue, Dent went on to become one of the nation’s most efficient players over the season’s final few months.

“I was just kind of in a different mindset from then on for sure,” a smiling Dent told the Post during the Big Ten Tournament.

But Dent’s shooting struggles reemerged during the NCAA Tournament, when he made only 6 of 26 shots (23.1%) before UConn eliminated the Bruins in the second round.

Barring a change of heart, Dent has accepted a more absolute end of his basketball road.

Moving back to Albuquerque has allowed him to live with girlfriend Katelyn Estrada, a native of the New Mexico city and a medical school student there. It might also help him spark a new love for his old game in the kids he teaches through his clinic.

“I wanted to start it here because Albuquerque gave me so much,” Dent told the Journal. “I feel like this is the perfect place for me to start training the youth and give back to them.”

Surprising Safety Twist: Southern California Chemical Tank Crack May Reduce Explosion Risk

In Southern California, a compromised chemical tank poses less of an explosive threat due to a newly discovered crack, yet evacuation orders still affect around 50,000 residents, with no clear indication of when they might safely return home, according to fire officials on Sunday.

Captain Wayhowe Huang from the Orange County Fire Authority reported that overnight assessments allowed fire crews to identify a crack in the tank.

Huang informed The Associated Press earlier in the day that, fortunately, none of the volatile chemicals appear to have leaked from the tank yet. “The possibility of an explosion remains,” he cautioned.

In efforts to avert an explosion, firefighters have been diligently cooling the tank with water, aiming to lower the temperature of the chemicals inside. By Sunday, the internal temperature had climbed to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.7 degrees Celsius), marking a 10-degree Fahrenheit (5.5 Celsius) increase since the previous day, according to Democratic State Senator Tom Umberg.

Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, declared a state of emergency on Saturday and, through a post on X, announced that he had requested President Donald Trump to authorize an emergency declaration, which would enhance federal assistance for local and state response efforts.

The pressurized tank overheated Thursday and began venting vapors at a company site in Garden Grove, about 40 miles (60 kilometers) south of downtown Los Angeles, according to the Fire Authority.

No injuries have been reported. Air monitoring tests have found that air pollution around the evacuation zone is within normal limits, and specialized equipment has been deployed to ensure no gas is released from the compromised tank, state and federal environmental officials said Saturday.

The streets were empty in the area Sunday, according to aerial photos taken by the AP.

Tank crack could mitigate damage

A crack could be a welcome development, as it could mean product or pressure inside the tank is being released, reducing the chance the tank explodes, said Andrew Whelton, an engineering professor at Purdue University.

“Think of a soda can. If you leave it in a hot car it can explode,” he said. “But if you put a hole in the can, the product is released and the can itself doesn’t explode.”

Elias Picazo, a chemistry professor at the University of Southern California, agreed that a crack could be a positive development.

“A strategic leak buys more time for the liquid within the tank to solidify as the reaction continues,” he said. “Depending on where the leak is, it can also be used to direct the unreacted liquid out of the tank in a controlled manner.”

Faisal Khan, head of the chemical engineering department at Texas A&M University, said a crack suggests an explosion could still happen — just not in the magnitude initially feared.

“Cooling is happening on the surface of the tank while runaway reaction may be occurring deep inside the tank,” he explained. “Yes, reaction is slowed compared to what it started. However, we are not out of explosive release risk.”

Several shelters for evacuees remained open. The parking lot was full Sunday at an evacuation center at a high school in neighboring La Palma. Some people, including a family of seven, slept in cars or on mats and sleeping bags on the asphalt. The large family also had nine cats with them. They stacked up cat carriers for a makeshift table as they waited around, sipping coffee and tending to the pets.

Meanwhile, some Garden Grove residents filed a class-action lawsuit on Saturday against GKN Aerospace Transparency Systems, the company that operates the facility where the tank is located.

Lawyers for residents living in the evacuation zone argued in their federal court lawsuit that regardless of what happens next, property values in the surrounding community are sure to be impacted.

Spokespersons for the company didn’t comment on the lawsuit itself, but pointed to a Saturday statement in which they apologized to residents and businesses that have been forced to evacuate.

On Sunday, the company released another statement saying it was monitoring the “condition of the affected material” and “working around the clock to mitigate the risk of a leak.”

Officials said the valves on the tank are broken or “gummed up,” which prevented crews from removing the chemical or relieving the pressure on the tank, said Craig Covey, Orange County Fire Authority division chief.

Firefighters’ first hope is to find a way to cool off the chemical inside the tank so it won’t leak or explode. If that is not possible, Whelton said it would be best if the tank sprang a leak so the chemical could be mostly contained. An explosion that could spread the chemical over a broad area and send shrapnel flying would be the worst-case scenario.

If the temperature inside the tank continues to increase, the pressure will continue to build as the methyl methacrylate converts from a liquid to a gas. Whelton said it’s unlikely that firefighters would consider creating a hole in the tank because of fears that could create a spark that might ignite the volatile and flammable gas.

Drones were monitoring temperatures at 10-minute intervals to watch for any spikes, Covey said on a social media post on X. Containment barriers have been set up to prevent the chemical from getting into storm drains or reaching creeks or the nearby ocean in the event of a spill, Covey said.

Exposure could lead to health problems

The damaged tank is located at GKN Aerospace, which makes parts for commercial and military aircraft. It holds 6,000 to 7,000 gallons (22,700 and 26,500 liters) of methyl methacrylate, used to make plastic parts.

GKN agreed to pay state regulators more than $900,000 in 2025 to settle violations involving recordkeeping, permitting issues and nitrogen oxide emissions, according to a report on the South Coast Air Quality Management District website.

Exposure to methyl methacrylate can cause serious respiratory problems and even render someone unconscious. It can also cause neurological problems and irritate the skin, eyes and throat, according to fact sheets about the chemical. But Orange County health officials said the chemical is easy to smell and residents may notice it over a large area without being harmed.

Whelton said the volume of chemical in the tank is much smaller than in the disastrous 2023 train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, which he studied when more than 115,000 gallons (435,000 liters) of vinyl chloride was released after officials blew open five tank cars and burned the chemical.

“Many of these are acute, fast-acting effects. But the longer somebody stays in contact with it, the more potential for significant damage that occurs,” Whelton said.

If an explosion releases the chemical into the air, Whelton said, it will be crucial to conduct detailed air monitoring specifically for methyl methacrylate and not just generic tests for volatile organic compounds as officials did in East Palestine.

The weather will be an important factor in determining where a plume of chemicals would go in the event of an explosion. Officials were developing maps to predict different scenarios.

Garden Grove is next to Anaheim, home to Disneyland’s two theme parks, which were not under evacuation orders. Park officials said they were monitoring the incident and supporting employees impacted by evacuations.

Shocking Child Abuse Case: Parents Arrested for Disturbing Acts Against Infant

Left: Jessica Oster. Right: James Oster (Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department).

A Pennsylvania couple has been charged with multiple offenses following allegations of assault against their 4-month-old son, who was reportedly taken to a hospital with extensive bruising and a split lip.

Jessica Oster, 26, admitted to police that she acted out of frustration over her son’s crying, using excessive force while feeding him, according to the Northern Lancaster County Police Department.

As detailed in charging documents reviewed by the local LNP newspaper, Oster initially claimed she had left the child alone for 20 to 30 minutes after feeding him, only to find him with a damaged lip upon her return. She later confessed to forcefully inserting the bottle into his mouth in a moment of anger, police reports indicate.

The child’s father, James Oster, also faces allegations of abuse, having reportedly admitted to squeezing and causing bruises on the boy during a bath. Charging documents reveal that James Oster confessed to holding the infant’s head and pulling it back to prevent him from submerging face-first in the water.

According to a press release from the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department, they were alerted on April 22, 2026, by UPMC Lititz Hospital regarding a suspected child abuse case. Medical professionals informed detectives of the child’s injuries, which included a lip laceration, ecchymosis, and a laceration of the upper frenulum, along with various bruises and abrasions on his body.

Asked how the child got the bruises, Jessica Oster told investigators she believed they were either from her husband bathing him or the boy’s bouncy seat. She said they often put him in the bouncy seat with a bottle propped up by a blanket to feed him while they were in a completely different room, according to the charging documents.

Investigators examined the bouncy seat and reported a strong smell of urine and urine stains soaked through to the bottom of the seat.

“As a result of the investigation, Jessica Oster was charged with aggravated assault (2 counts), simple assault, endangering the welfare of children (2 counts), and recklessly endangering another person,” the NLCRPD release says. “James Oster was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, endangering the welfare of children (2 counts), and recklessly endangering another person.”

Police have referred all questions about who currently has custody of the boy to the Lancaster County Children & Youth Agency. The agency has not responded to requests for comment.

The Osters are scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.

Trump Responds to Criticism from GOP Allies Cruz and Graham

0

President Donald Trump unleashed a torrent of anger towards his Republican detractors on Sunday, following public criticisms from key allies such as Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham. These prominent GOP figures have voiced concerns that his developing deal with Iran might be a grave error, potentially granting Tehran a significant strategic advantage.

This public dispute has highlighted significant divisions within the Republican Party, as some of its most ardent advocates for national security are openly skeptical. They fear that Trump could be on the brink of replicating the very nuclear agreement from the Obama era that he had previously condemned as disastrous.

In response, Trump took to Truth Social with a vehement message, asserting that any agreement he brokers with Iran would be both ‘good and proper.’ He dismissed his Republican critics as ‘losers’ in his fiery rebuttal.

“If I make a deal with Iran, it will be a good and proper one,” he stated, contrasting it with the previous administration’s approach. “Unlike the deal made by Obama, which gave Iran massive amounts of cash and a clear path to a nuclear weapon.”

Trump emphasized that his proposed agreement would be fundamentally different, although he noted that it remains in the negotiation phase and has not yet been finalized or disclosed to the public.

The president then turned directly on critics inside his own movement.

‘So don’t listen to the losers, who are critical about something they know nothing about,’ Trump added. ‘Unlike those before me who should have solved this problem many years ago, I don’t make bad deals!’

The sharp response came after a growing chorus of Republicans erupted over reports that the developing framework with Iran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz, establish a 60-day ceasefire and continue negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program while details are finalized.

Donald Trump insisted the Iran agreement currently being negotiated is 'THE EXACT OPPOSITE' of the Obama-era nuclear deal he withdrew from in 2018 and said critics were attacking something that was not yet fully finalized

Lindsey Graham warned that any agreement leaving Iran as a dominant force in the Middle East could become a ‘nightmare for Israel’ and questioned the entire purpose of the conflict

Senators including Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham openly sounded the alarm over the pending agreement.

Cruz delivered one of the sharpest attacks over the weekend, saying he was ‘deeply concerned’ by what he was hearing from inside the administration.

‘If the result of all that is to be an Iranian regime – still run by Islamists who chant ‘death to America’ – now receiving billions of dollars, being able to enrich uranium & develop nuclear weapons, and having effective control over the Strait of Hormuz, then that outcome would be a disastrous mistake,’ Cruz wrote on X.

‘The details are still coming out – and I pray the early reports are wrong – but the fact that Biden’s Rob Malley is praising the deal is not encouraging,’ he added, referring to the former Biden Iran envoy who helped negotiate the 2015 Obama nuclear deal.

Cruz’s warning then triggered a flood of criticism from other Republican national security hawks.

Sen. Roger Wicker, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, blasted the proposed 60-day ceasefire and warned ‘everything accomplished by Operation Epic Fury would be for naught.’

Graham, one of Trump’s closest allies in Washington, also publicly questioned the direction of the talks and warned that any agreement leaving Iran as a dominant regional power would be disastrous for Israel.

‘It makes one wonder why the war started to begin with if these perceptions are accurate,’ Graham wrote on X.

The South Carolina senator later softened his criticism somewhat, suggesting he could support the broader arrangement if it resulted in a major expansion of the Abraham Accords – the Trump-brokered agreements that normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations during his first term.

Graham said adding countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Pakistan to the accords would be ‘beyond transformative for the region and world’ and called it a potentially ‘brilliant move by President Trump.’

Senator Thom Tillis questioned why the administration now appeared willing to tolerate Iran retaining nuclear material after months of insisting Tehran’s capabilities had been devastated

Still, skepticism inside Republican ranks continued to grow on Sunday when Thom Tillis questioned why the administration now appeared willing to tolerate Iran retaining nuclear material after months of insisting Tehran’s capabilities had been devastated.

‘We were told about 11 weeks ago by Hegseth and the Department of Defense that they had obliterated Iran’s defenses, and it was just a matter of time before we had the nuclear material,’ Tillis said on CNN.

‘Now we’re talking about a posture where we may accept the nuclear material remaining in Iran. How does that make sense at all?’

Tillis also warned that any agreement not formally ratified by Congress would ultimately collapse just like the Obama-era accord Trump withdrew from in 2018.

‘There are a lot of things that need to be explained,’ Tillis said. ‘Any agreement with Iran that isn’t subject to ratification by Congress is going to be doomed to fail.’

The uproar intensified after fresh details emerged about the developing agreement.

According to reports, the United States and Iran have agreed ‘in principle’ to reopen the Strait of Hormuz – the critical shipping lane through which roughly 20 percent of the world’s energy supplies transit – while Tehran would also agree in principle to dispose of its highly enriched uranium stockpile.

A senior Trump administration official told the New York Post that Iran would reopen the strait ‘in exchange for us lifting the blockade,’ while negotiations continue over how the uranium would ultimately be handled.

‘We feel quite confident that the supreme leader has signed off on the broad template,’ the official said.

Iran has not publicly confirmed the reported framework, and officials inside the country have reportedly issued conflicting messages about what any final agreement would contain.

Lindsey Graham said reports suggesting Iran could retain influence over the Strait of Hormuz and continue threatening Gulf oil infrastructure made him question “why the war started to begin with”

The proposed deal has also reopened bitter divisions among Trump allies from his first administration.

Mike Pompeo accused the White House of drifting dangerously close to the Obama-era nuclear agreement.

The remark triggered a blistering response from White House communications director Steven Cheung, who fired back by telling Pompeo to ‘shut his stupid mouth.’

Former national security adviser John Bolton also warned the emerging framework appeared to hand Tehran a major strategic victory.

Trump, however, has aggressively pushed back against the criticism and rejected comparisons to the Obama deal.

Chaos Unleashed: South Carolina Biker Festival Stampede Leaves 19 Injured

0

A chaotic scene unfolded in the early hours of Sunday during the Black Pearl Cultural Heritage and Bike Festival in Atlantic Beach, South Carolina, leaving at least 19 people injured in what officials described as a “stampede.” Emergency responders swiftly arrived on the scene near a stage along South Ocean Boulevard following reports of the incident around 1:05 a.m.

According to Horry County Fire Rescue, the injuries sustained did not appear to be life-threatening. Their teams, with assistance from law enforcement at the scene, managed to locate and assess 19 individuals for their injuries. Among them, three required transportation to a hospital, while it’s possible others may have sought medical attention on their own.

The extent of the reported injuries prompted Horry County Fire Rescue to declare a mass casualty incident. This designation is crucial for coordinating an effective emergency response when numerous individuals need medical evaluation and care.

In stark contrast to this incident, it brings to mind the tragedy at the massive Maha Kumbh Festival in India, where at least 30 people perished in a stampede, as reported by police. Such events highlight the critical need for robust crowd management and safety measures at large gatherings.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, the Town of Atlantic Beach said the incident began when one person started running, triggering what officials described as a “brief chain reaction within the crowd that lasted only seconds.”

“We want to express our sincere concern for anyone who was injured or impacted,” the town said. “Any situation where individuals are harmed is taken seriously, and our thoughts are with those affected as they recover.”

Multiple law enforcement and emergency agencies were already stationed throughout the event and responded immediately.

EMS crews treated injured attendees at the scene before the festival resumed normal operations, officials said.

“At no time were there any confirmed fights, weapons, or direct threats to public safety,” town officials said.

Several crowd-control measures had been implemented throughout the weekend, including temporarily suspending incoming traffic into Atlantic Beach on Friday night and again Saturday evening.

“While any incident is unfortunate, it is also important to recognize that this isolated moment does not reflect the overall success of the event,” the town said.

“The Black Pearl Cultural Heritage and Bike Festival has been held for over 40 years and continues to attract visitors from across the country because of the positive experience it provides.”

Officials said they will continue reviewing the incident with public safety partners to identify any additional safety improvements.

The Black Pearl Cultural Heritage and Bike Festival is an annual Memorial Day weekend motorcycle rally that the town says has been reported to draw crowds in excess of 400,000 to the area, though those crowds can overlap with broader Myrtle Beach-area Memorial Day weekend visitors, for concerts, parties, and other entertainment events, according to the Town of Atlantic Beach website.

A spokesperson for Horry County Fire Rescue told Fox News Digital there were no additional updates to share.

Discover the 12-Minute Workout That Can Make You Feel Younger at 60+

Embracing the journey of aging gracefully involves more than just good genes; it’s about cultivating the right habits that maintain strength, agility, and confidence. A seasoned trainer has unveiled a 12-minute exercise regimen designed to focus on essential areas that promote healthy aging beyond the age of 60. Incorporating elements of strength, balance, coordination, posture, and core stability, this routine ensures that your body remains agile and youthful through everyday movements.

From my experience coaching numerous individuals over 60, I’ve observed that those who thrive best integrate brief, consistent exercise sessions into their weekly schedules. While extended workouts have undeniable benefits, these shorter routines serve as a vital complement, sustaining energy, enhancing progress, and ensuring the body remains in optimal condition between more demanding training days. Consider this routine a brisk, full-body tune-up, keeping your muscles engaged and movement fluid.

This concise 12-minute workout zeroes in on the fundamental pillars of aging healthily: leg strength, upper-body fortitude, core stability, balance, and overall body coordination. The routine includes four exercises, each devised to challenge and invigorate the body in diverse yet manageable ways. All you need is a sturdy chair and a little cleared space. Prepare to engage the muscles that will empower you to feel robust and vibrant in the years ahead.

I’ve coached plenty of adults over 60 who make the best progress with short, repeatable sessions they can actually fit into their week. Longer workouts have their place, but these quick routines help fill the gaps, build momentum, and keep the body tuned up between bigger training days. Think of this as a compact full-body reset that keeps your muscles active and your movement sharp.

This 12-minute routine targets the big rocks of healthy aging: leg strength, upper-body strength, core stability, balance, and total-body coordination. You’ll move through four exercises that challenge the body in different ways while staying simple and approachable. Grab a sturdy chair, clear a little space, and get ready to train the muscles that help you feel strong for years to come.

The 12-Minute Healthy Aging Routine After 60

What you need: A sturdy chair, open floor space, and 12 focused minutes.

The Routine:

  1. Chair Squats
  2. Incline Push-Ups
  3. Standing March Holds
  4. Bird Dogs

Directions

Chair Squats

Chair squats train one of the most important movement patterns for aging well: standing up with strength and control. They build the quads, glutes, and hips, which support walking, stairs, balance, and daily independence. I like using chair squats because they give you a clear target and help keep reps consistent. Over time, this movement builds lower-body power that carries directly into everyday life.

Muscles Trained: Quads, glutes, hamstrings, and core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand in front of a sturdy chair with your feet hip width apart.
  2. Brace your core and keep your chest lifted.
  3. Push your hips back and bend your knees.
  4. Lower until your hips lightly touch the chair.
  5. Drive through your heels to stand tall.
  6. Repeat with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 2 sets of 10 to 12 reps. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Pause chair squats, slow tempo chair squats, hands-free chair squats.

Form Tip: Keep your knees tracking in line with your toes.

Incline Push-Ups

Incline push-ups strengthen the chest, shoulders, triceps, and core in a joint-friendly position. Upper-body strength matters after 60 because it supports posture, daily lifting, and overall confidence. This version makes the movement more approachable while still challenging the muscles that keep your upper body strong. I use incline push-ups often because they scale well and deliver a reliable training effect.

Muscles Trained: Chest, shoulders, triceps, and core.

How to Do It:

  1. Place your hands on the edge of a sturdy chair, bench, or countertop.
  2. Step your feet back until your body forms a straight line.
  3. Brace your core and keep your neck neutral.
  4. Bend your elbows to lower your chest toward the surface.
  5. Press through your hands to return to the start.
  6. Repeat with steady control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 2 sets of 8 to 12 reps. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Wall push-ups, low-incline push-ups, slow-tempo push-ups.

Form Tip: Keep your body moving as one unit from head to heels.

Standing March Holds

Standing march helps build balance, hip strength, and single-leg stability. That combination matters because walking, stepping, turning, and climbing all rely on your ability to control your body on one leg. This exercise also trains posture and core engagement without needing equipment. I like it for adults over 60 because it builds confidence quickly and shows progress fast.

Muscles Trained: Hip flexors, glutes, calves, and core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Place one hand near a wall or chair for light support if needed.
  3. Brace your core and lift one knee toward hip height.
  4. Hold the position for 2 to 3 seconds.
  5. Lower with control and switch sides.
  6. Continue alternating.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 2 sets of 8 to 10 reps per side. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Supported march holds, slower march holds, and higher knee march holds.

Form Tip: Stay tall through your torso instead of leaning back.

Bird Dogs

Bird dogs train core stability, coordination, and control through the hips and shoulders. This movement teaches your body to stay steady while your limbs move, supporting safer, stronger movement in daily life. It also helps reinforce posture and spinal stability. I use bird dogs often because they build control without beating up the joints.

Muscles Trained: Core, glutes, shoulders, and lower back stabilizers.

How to Do It:

  1. Start on your hands and knees.
  2. Brace your core and keep your back flat.
  3. Reach one arm forward as you extend the opposite leg back.
  4. Pause briefly while keeping your hips level.
  5. Return to the starting position with control.
  6. Alternate sides for each rep.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 2 sets of 8 to 10 reps per side. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Arm-only bird dogs, leg-only bird dogs, pause bird dogs.

Form Tip: Move slowly enough to keep your hips from rocking side to side.

Best Daily Habits to Feel Younger After 60

Aging well comes from stacking small wins every day. A 12-minute routine gives your body a strong training signal, but the rest of your habits help that work turn into better strength, energy, and movement quality. In my coaching experience, adults over 60 usually feel their best when they combine simple strength work with daily movement and solid recovery. The goal is to keep your body active, capable, and ready for the things you enjoy. Use the habits below to support that process.

  • Strength train several days per week. Regular resistance work helps maintain muscle and power.
  • Walk daily. Consistent walking supports circulation, endurance, and joint health.
  • Eat protein at each meal. Protein helps preserve muscle and supports recovery.
  • Practice balance often. Short balance drills help keep your coordination sharp.
  • Move through full ranges of motion. Controlled movement supports mobility and joint confidence.
  • Prioritize sleep. Recovery helps your muscles, brain, and energy levels stay strong.

Stick with this 12-minute routine a few days per week, and your body can start feeling stronger, steadier, and more capable where it matters most.
