Savannah Guthrie, in a heartfelt tribute, expressed her deep sorrow for her missing mother, Nancy, on Mother’s Day.

She posted a touching video montage on Instagram, showcasing moments with her mother, and captioned it with a poignant message: “Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie.”

“We miss you with every breath,” Savannah wrote. “We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.”

Additionally, she encouraged anyone with information about her mother’s disappearance to reach out to the FBI.

This past Sunday marked Savannah’s first Mother’s Day without Nancy, who vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home on February 1.

Her whereabouts remain unknown, and she was last seen by family members the night before, on January 31, after joining them for a game night. 

Nancy, 84, is believed to have been kidnapped by unknown captors nearly 100 days ago, investigators believe. 

Some evidence has come to light since the case first broke open, but none of it has led to an arrest.

Alongside her emotional post, Savannah also urged anyone with information relating to her mother’s disappearance to approach law enforcement

The latest batch of evidence to come forward was in early April after FBI agents discovered ‘potentially critical’ new DNA at Nancy’s home. 

Agents sent the sample to a private Florida lab, sources told ABC News. NewsNation reported that pieces of hair were found inside the property.

They will use the latest technology to analyze the results and see if it flags a possible suspect for the abduction. 

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department previously said that DNA recovered from Nancy’s home was a sample that came from more than one person. 

Sources told the outlet that Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos recently revealed to a neighborhood watch group that it could take six more months to identify the sample.

Nanos said that five other labs around the US are working on Nancy’s case, but the names of facilities, what their roles are, and if there are additional DNA samples that are relevant to the case remain unclear, per the outlet.

The ongoing investigation into Nancy’s puzzling disappearance is being directed by about two dozen Pima County and FBI investigators. 

So far, they have looked at a series of blackmail messages sent to the Guthrie family and to media outlets demanding money in bitcoin in return for Nancy.

No ransoms were ever paid, as the Guthrie family demanded proof of life but never received it.

Authorities and the family also could not verify the authenticity of the ransom notes, despite their willingness to pay.

Over the course of the investigation, only a few people have been taken in for questioning. No one has been arrested.

Various pieces of evidence have also been found at the home and in the surrounding area, including drops of blood on Nancy’s front porch, a torn-down doorbell camera, and various gloves.

Surveillance footage also captured a masked person outside her front door. The footage has so far been the only major evidence breakthrough made public.

Dave Smith, a former lieutenant with the Arizona Department of Public Safety, recently told Fox News that he believed Nancy might have been taken to Mexico. 

‘My first thought is always Mexico in a major crime, because it’s a great haven, and it’s hard for us to follow up on,’ Smith told the outlet.

Smith noted that Tucson is located about 60 miles from the border, making that scenario a ‘strong possibility.’

Smith also noted that the masked suspect seen on surveillance footage recovered from Guthrie’s Nest doorbell camera appeared to be carrying a holstered pistol in what he described as ‘Mexican carry’ style.

The retired law enforcement officials also noted that the rugged terrain surrounding Tucson has complicated the search.

‘The whole Tucson Valley is literally built around these arroyos, these ephemeral rivers,’ he said. ‘It’s like a giant alley through the neighborhoods.’

He said the desert offers countless hiding places while also quickly destroying evidence.

‘The evidence is transitory,’ Smith said. ‘Once it rains, your footprints go away, the sun is hard on other forms of evidence and frankly this is a tough place to investigate crimes.’

He suggested tensions between local investigators and the FBI may be tied to concerns that evidence pointing to Mexico would have made the case a federal investigation.

Sheriff Chris Nanos and FBI Director Kash Patel have publicly disagreed over how quickly federal authorities were brought into the case.

Patel previously discussed Nancy’s case on Sean Hannity’s podcast, defending the FBI. 

He said that while Guthrie’s case was a state matter, they were being kept out altogether by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. 

‘For four days we were kept out of the investigation,’ he said, adding that this was especially damaging because ‘the first 48 hours of anyone’s disappearance are the most critical.

Savannah previously said that she realizes Nancy may no longer be alive – but that if that is the case, she is still desperate for the return of her mother so she can give her a Christian burial.  

The tragic disappearance of two U.S. Army officers during military exercises in Morocco has taken a somber turn, as officials confirm the recovery of one soldier’s body from the Atlantic Ocean. The search for the second soldier remains ongoing, underscoring the perilous nature of their situation.

U.S. Army Europe and Africa reported on Sunday that the body of 1st Lt. Kendrick Lamont Key Jr., a 27-year-old officer from Richmond, Virginia, was found. Lt. Key, who served as a 14A Air Defense Artillery officer, vanished along with a fellow soldier during a recreational hike near the Cap Draa Training Area on May 2nd, when they reportedly fell from a cliff.

The discovery was made by a Moroccan military search team, which located Lt. Key’s remains along the shoreline at approximately 8:55 a.m. local time on Saturday. He was found about a mile from the point where the two soldiers were believed to have entered the ocean.

Brig. Gen. Curtis King, commanding general of the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, expressed deep sorrow over the loss. In a heartfelt statement, he reflected on Key’s service and the void left by his passing. “Today, we mourn the loss of 1st Lt. Kendrick Key, whose remains were recovered in Morocco,” Gen. King said. “Our hearts are with his family, friends, teammates, and all who knew and served alongside him. The 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command Family is grieving, and we will continue to support one another and 1st Lt. Key’s Family as we honor his life and service.”

The military community continues to hold vigil as the search for the second soldier persists, seeking closure in this devastating chapter. Meanwhile, thoughts and condolences pour in for the family and colleagues of 1st Lt. Kendrick Lamont Key Jr., whose service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Key and the second soldier were reported missing on May 2 after participating in African Lion, an annual multinational military exercise hosted across Morocco, Tunisia, Ghana and Senegal.

The two were reported missing around 9 p.m. near the Cap Draa Training Area outside Tan-Tan, a terrain featuring mountains, desert and semi-desert plains, the Moroccan military said.

The disappearance of the two soldiers led to a search-and-rescue mission involving more than 600 personnel from the U.S., Morocco and other military partners. Ships, helicopters and drones were deployed as part of this operation.

A U.S. contingent remained in Morocco after the military exercises ended on Friday to provide command and control and to support the ongoing search and rescue mission.

Key was assigned to Charlie Battery, 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, according to the Army.

His decorations include the Army Achievement Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

He entered military service in 2023 as an officer candidate and earned his commission through Officer Candidate School the following year as an Air Defense Artillery officer. He later completed the Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Key is survived by his parents, his sister and his brother-in-law.

African Lion 26 is a U.S.-led exercise that began in April across Morocco, Tunisia, Ghana and Senegal, with more than 5,600 civilian and military personnel from more than 40 nations.

For more than 20 years, it has been the largest U.S. joint military exercise in Africa.

Recess isn’t merely a playful interlude for schoolchildren; it’s essential for their overall well-being and academic performance across all age groups.

This is emphasized by a prominent group of pediatricians, which has unveiled new recommendations regarding this unstructured school time, the first update in 13 years, stressing its importance and the need for its preservation.

The American Academy of Pediatrics’ refreshed policy statement emerges amidst a backdrop of diminishing recess opportunities and declining child health statistics.

According to Dr. Robert Murray, a principal author, while the organization has consistently advocated for children’s free play, this crucial time has faced growing threats, often sacrificed for the pursuit of higher test scores. “Recess offers significant advantages when fully utilized,” he noted.

Published on Monday in the journal Pediatrics, the new guidelines build on the previous statement, incorporating recent studies that highlight why such breaks are vital for children’s educational success and their mental, physical, social, and emotional development.

For example, new evidence shows that kids need pauses between concentrated bouts of learning so the brain can hold and store the information. Researchers also say recess gives kids a chance to navigate relationships and build confidence, which is just as important for older kids as younger ones.

Murray and his colleagues also stressed the importance of physical activity in preventing obesity, a condition that now affects about 1 in 5 U.S. children and teens.

Given these benefits, they recommend that recess be protected and never withheld for academic or punitive reasons, as sometimes happens in schools.

“If the child is disruptive or rude and disrespectful, recess is one of the things that teachers use to punish kids,” Murray said, adding that students struggling with behavioral issues or grades are often the ones who need recess most.

But those students aren’t the only ones losing out. Recess has been waning for all kids. Since the mid-2000s, up to 40% of school districts nationally have reduced or eliminated recess, according to data from the group Springboard to Active Schools in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Today, the duration of recess varies widely across U.S. schools, ranging from less than 10 minutes to more than an hour a day, the pediatrics group said. Older kids generally get less time than younger ones.

Ideally, studies show, kids should get a minimum of 20 minutes a day and multiple breaks. In other countries such as Denmark, Japan and the United Kingdom, students get breaks after every 45 minutes to 50 minutes of classroom instruction.

“They should get a long enough period of time where they can de-stress and blow off steam and prepare for the next class,” Murray said.

Dr. Lauren Fiechtner, a childhood obesity expert at Mass General Brigham for Children in Boston, said she’s glad about the updated recess recommendations. She’s seen the importance of recess as both a doctor and mother of two. She recalled how her 8-year-old son learned how to play basketball at recess and now loves the game.

Fiechtner, who wasn’t involved in creating the guidance, agrees with the recommendation that middle and high school students need recess, too.

“As kids get older, they’re more on their screens. So it’s really helpful, I think, for outdoor activity and recess to be happening,” she said. “Recess is great. We all kind of need recess.”

Perhaps it was a misteak.

The descendant of the original creators of the Philly cheesesteak has found himself preparing the iconic sandwiches at a Long Island pizzeria while clad in Knicks attire. This unusual scenario unfolded after he lost a friendly bet with the pizzeria’s co-owner.

Frank Olivieri, the proud proprietor of Philadelphia’s famed Pat’s King of Steaks, will don the Knicks’ signature orange and blue as he serves up cheesesteaks at Dario’s Pizza in West Hempstead. This comes after the Knicks decisively defeated the 76ers with a score of 144-114 on Sunday.

The wager was the brainchild of Olivieri, who proposed it to Louis Cretella, co-owner of the pizzeria. The bet was simple: backing their respective teams, Olivieri chose the 76ers while Cretella rooted for the Knicks. The loser would have to visit the winner’s establishment and work a shift wearing the victorious team’s apparel.

“[Olivieri] suggested betting on game three, but I upped the ante to the entire series,” Cretella shared with The Post.

Olivieri is accustomed to losing, but held out hope for his Philadelphia team until the bitter end.

“We always have a feeling that the 6ers, or anyone else in Philly are going to come back. We’re used to saying ‘maybe next year’,” he told The Post.

He shrugged off the impending ignominy, adding that he’s “been meaning to try [Dario’s] cheesesteak anyway.”

“I figured it would be a good way to extend some brotherly love to our brothers up in New York and on Long Island,” he added.

Olivieri and Cretella haven’t set a firm date for when the cheesesteak connoisseur will grace the Long Island pizzeria, but suggested that this may not be the end of their game.

“We’re willing to do another bet in the next round, whether it’s a place Cleveland or Detroit, so we’ll see,” Cretella said.

The Knicks advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals and will play the winner of the Detroit Pistons vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers series.

The friendly wager came about after Olivieri learned his ancestors’ cheesey, meaty creation had come under fire amid the NBA’s Eastern Conference Semifinals, where the Knicks were pitted against the 76ers.

Many eateries in New York City seized on the rivalry and cheekily desecrated their menus’ Philly cheesesteaks, including Dario’s Pizza.

Cretella changed the menu item from Philly cheesesteak to the Philly SUCKS cheesesteak in the restaurant’s computer system. Hard copy menus also have the “Philly” crossed out and “F*** Philly” in black marker written over it.

Olivieri took notice and reached out to place the bet he has now lost.

The Hollywood legend died on October 11, with her family previously revealing she passed away from pneumonia. 

The star’s death certificate obtained by the Daily Mail confirmed Keaton had battled primary bacterial pneumonia and that she had it for days before her death.

The document listed no other significant contributing conditions and said Keaton was cremated on October 14.

Primary bacterial pneumonia is a lung infection caused by bacteria that can develop on its own or after a viral infection. Symptoms include cough, fever, chest pain, and difficulty breathing.

Keaton’s family issued an emotional statement which read: ‘The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11.’

They also offered insight into what the Hollywood icon had been dedicated to, including her love for animals. 

‘She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her.’

A friend close to Keaton had previously told People that the star’s health had ‘declined very suddenly’ and was ‘heartbreaking for everyone who loved her’.

Keaton’s final moments were also laid bare in a chilling 911 call.

In a recording obtained by TMZ, a dispatcher could be heard calling for the Los Angeles Fire Department to respond to reports of a ‘person down’ at Keaton’s residence around 8am.

The Godfather actress had been transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance where she was later pronounced dead.

Victor Wembanyama found himself in an unfamiliar situation during Game 4.

Midway through the second quarter, the young Spurs player was hit with a Flagrant 2 foul after officials reviewed footage showing him elbowing Naz Reid in the neck. Confused by the ruling, Wembanyama turned to his teammate Harrison Barnes for clarification, asking, “What does that mean?”

This exchange, caught live by NBC cameras on Sunday, ended with Wembanyama nodding in understanding. He then high-fived a few teammates and exited the bench, marking the first ejection of his career.

The incident unfolded as Wembanyama, Reid, and another Timberwolves player were vying for a rebound. After securing the ball, Wembanyama swung his elbow, inadvertently striking Reid at the Target Center.

As Reid tumbled to the floor, Wembanyama’s game was cut short, leaving him with just four points and a shooting record of 2-for-5 in 12 minutes of play.

“I by no means thought it was intentional,” Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson told reporters postgame. “Tough break. … In general, I think it’s getting to a point where if the people that are in charge of controlling the game and protecting the physicality of the game don’t do that, then at some point he’s gonna have to protect himself. We’ve been asking him to do that now for a while.”

And with the Spurs forced to spend the final 38-plus minutes without their superstar, it altered Game 4, with the Timberwolves winning, 114-109, behind 36 points from Anthony Edwards to even the series at two games apiece.

Johnson, though, was left furious at the physicality Wembanyama has been forced to deal with — and how he has to “protect himself” on the court if the officials won’t.

“I just think that the amount of physicality that people play with with him, at some level you have to protect yourself,” Johnson told reporters. “Every single play on every single part of the floor, people are trying to impose their physicality on him.

The series now shifts back to San Antonio, with Game 5 set for Wednesday, and it’s unclear if Wembanyama will face any additional discipline following the incident.
