Robert Irwin recently recounted a harrowing experience involving a crocodile, emerging unscathed to share his story.

During a guest appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the 22-year-old conservationist revealed he was caught in a “death roll” by a 14-foot crocodile, humorously named Jimmy Fallon after the talk show host when the reptile was just a baby.

“He’s grown significantly since then,” Robert remarked. “I named this crocodile Jimmy Fallon years ago, and now he’s what we call a boss croc. His size is quite formidable.” Robert went on to explain, “In order to better understand and conserve these creatures, which was a strategy developed by my dad, we actually have to jump on them in the wild.”

He shared with Fallon that when he leaped onto the crocodile’s back, the massive creature initiated a “death roll,” a move crocodiles use to subdue their prey.

“So there I was, on top of this 14-foot crocodile, and suddenly it death rolls me,” Robert described. “I found myself pinned underneath, my arm protruding awkwardly, with about 700 pounds pressing down on me. In that moment, I wondered what my next move should be. Fortunately, the croc rolled back the other way, allowing me to escape unharmed. He’s quite a character.”

Robert is the son of beloved reality TV star and environmentalist, Steve Irwin, also known as “The Crocodile Hunter,” who was known for his work trying to teach the public to respect and protect all animals.

Steve died in September 2006 after a stingray’s tail pierced his chest and caused a fatal injury to his heart while filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef, when Robert was 2 years old.

Since his death, his wife, Teri, and their two children, Robert and Bindi, who was 8 years old when Steve died, have taken over his mission towards advocating for all animals and running the Australian Zoo in Queensland.

“To continue this legacy is the honour of my life,” Robert shared on Instagram in October alongside a reel featuring footage of him and his father when he was younger, and of his father with animals. “If I can make my dad proud, I’ve done my job. Behind everything I do is a conservation mission that my dad started.”

Both Robert and his older sister Bindi competed on and won “Dancing with the Stars,” with Bindi taking home the mirrorball trophy in 2015 during season 21 when she was 17 years old.

Robert took his turn in the ballroom in the fall of 2025, winning the show with his partner, Witney Carson.

“Coming over from Australia, I didn’t know how it would go. I didn’t think I’d make it this far, because I didn’t realize how incredibly supportive America would be,” he told Men’s Health in December 2025. “It’s impossible to put into words how much that has meant to me, because what I represent is so much more than just a dance.”

When speaking with Men’s Health, Robert also shared that he felt “grateful” to have been brought back week after week, because to him it meant that “what I stand for is being heard and that is incredible.”

“When I step into the ballroom, I’m representing a legacy that my dad [Steve Irwin] created with my mom. I’m representing everything I stand for, not only as a wildlife conservationist, but also as someone who is working really hard to try and spread some positivity and passion,” he said. “I want to be a role model for young people.”

BALTIMORE — Authorities in Baltimore City are delving into the disturbing case of a developmentally disabled woman who faced sexual assault, an incident that only came to light shortly before she gave birth in December 2024, as reported by WJZ.

The woman’s family has initiated legal proceedings against both the state and the organization managing the group home where she resided at the time of the assault.

Due to her disabilities, the victim was incapable of providing consent.

According to the lawsuit, which The Washington Post initially covered, the woman is blind, non-verbal, and has the mental capacity comparable to that of a young child.

The details outlined in the legal complaint are deeply unsettling: a woman requiring constant care was sexually assaulted, an act that only came to light when she was admitted to Sinai Hospital in Northwest Baltimore in late 2024, experiencing abdominal discomfort and swelling.

Doctors there confirmed she was pregnant and contacted Baltimore police.

A police spokesman told WJZ Investigates, “This investigation remains actively open, and we still can’t comment any further.”

No arrests have been made.

The victim later gave birth to a healthy child.

Jessica Gallatin of Cecil County cares for her own developmentally disabled sister and read the family’s detailed account when it was first published in The Washington Post this week.

“I instantly just thought of my sister, and then I cried. It took me a second to get my composure…” said Gallatin, who is a member of the advocacy group Concerned Citizens of Self-Direction Maryland. “It was devastating to hear. It’s definitely a worst fear situation.”

Compounding her fears are state budget cuts that she said are pushing more vulnerable people into group home settings.

“Everyone feels exposed, and this story just kind of validated everyone’s concerns,” Gallatin said.

She still has many questions.

“Wasn’t somebody else around? How did that even happen? I’m just trying to picture it. I don’t know. I was at a loss for words trying to think of how something like that can happen,” Gallatin told WJZ.

Elliott Petty, a lawyer representing Dominion Resource Center, the operator of the home where the victim lived at the time, told WJZ, “Dominion Resource Center denies wrongdoing as to [the victim] but expresses its love and support of [the victim] and her family in this difficult circumstance. DRC has worked and will continue to work and cooperate with Baltimore City Police in their investigation.”

A Dominion executive told The Washington Post that six of her staff members have been cleared of wrongdoing, and the company’s legal representative noted the state did not recommend any corrective action after the incident.

The lawsuit also names state agencies, including the Maryland Department of Health, which told WJZ it “…cannot comment on ongoing litigation.”

But the agency stated, “Investigations of complaints regarding services for Marylanders who participate in DDA waiver programs have been and continue to be a priority for the Moore-Miller Administration. The Maryland Department of Health’s goal is to provide a sustainable, accessible, and effective program of meaningful services for Marylanders with disabilities.”

According to the family’s lawsuit, the fact that the pregnancy was not discovered for months, “…is not only outrageous but inconceivable given [the victim’s] evident vulnerabilities and the comprehensive care she was supposed to receive. This claim seeks to hold the Defendants accountable for their inexcusable failure to protect [the victim], resulting in her profound suffering and the birth of her child under traumatic circumstances.”

The family’s lawyer said they are concerned other vulnerable people could be at risk with the rape suspect or suspects at large.

Gallatin shares those fears.

“It’s just unthinkable [to] me that someone is capable of doing that,” she said. “The fact that he’s still out there I think, is really concerning.”

Frightening footage has emerged showing passengers rapidly exiting a Frontier Airlines aircraft at Denver International Airport after it collided with an apparent trespasser, filling the cabin with smoke.

In the chaos that unfolded Friday night, several passengers disregarded safety instructions to leave their luggage behind as they hurriedly evacuated the smoke-filled cabin, prompted by an engine fire.

In one dramatic video, the Los Angeles-bound Airbus A321neo is seen speeding down the runway at nearly 140 mph before a bright orange flash erupts, with sparks visibly flying from the rear of one of its engines.

Despite clear directives to leave personal items on board, passengers frantically scrambled to exit the dim, smoke-laden cabin, with cries of “Fire on the engine, let me out,” echoing through the tense atmosphere.

“The cabin was completely engulfed in smoke, making it incredibly difficult to breathe,” passenger Nikil Thalanki recounted to KUSA.

“And then we were sitting there, what they told us to wait there, just remain seated for like two, three minutes, maybe four minutes, and then they opened up the exits.”

One stewardess even shouted, “Please leave all belongings, your belongings are safe, your lives are more important.”

Passengers were told to “stay low and jump” as they approached the inflatable slides.

“Holy s–t, we almost died,” one passenger said in one social media clip they looked at the stationary plane. 

“That is f–king crazy.”

Some passengers were seen taking in the extent of the damage to the plane’s engine following the explosion.

Mohamed Hassan, who was also on the plane, told KUSA it was the “scariest experience of my life.”

“I was on the flight, and I looked to my right and I just saw a fire, I heard a loud boom, people started screaming. I thought I was going to die,” he said.

New security video released by the City and County of Denver shows the moment the person was struck while walking on the runway.

The victim can be seen walking from one end to the other with little urgency. They appeared to be perfectly aligned with one of the plane’s engines when part of their upper body was sucked inside.

The collision occurred roughly two minutes after the individual hopped the fence, KHOU 11 reported. The plane was moving at 139 mph at the time of the crash, according to FlightAware.

The pilot told air traffic controllers, “We’re stopping on the runway,” just moments after the collision.

“We just hit somebody. We have an engine fire.”

The pilot said an “individual was walking across the runway” before the air traffic controller responds they’re “rolling the trucks.”

The pilot then tells air traffic controllers they “have smoke in the aircraft. We are going to evacuate on the runway.”

All 224 passengers and seven crew members were safely evacuated from the plane.

Phil Washington, the Denver Airport CEO, said he “knows” there are questions still to be answered.

“As this is an active investigation with numerous other agencies involved, it is going to take some time as we are still confirming what information we can share at this time,” he said.

“This was a horrible and preventable tragedy that has affected many due to the actions of one person who apparently trespassed at an airport and lost their life as a result.”
