Two police officers sustained injuries, with one in critical condition, after a detainee receiving medical care at Chicago’s Swedish Hospital opened fire on Saturday.

A representative from Endeavor Health informed Fox News Digital that the incident occurred when a man in police custody was brought to the Swedish Hospital Emergency Department around 9 a.m. The suspect was subjected to a security check with a metal detector upon arrival, following the hospital’s standard procedures for weapon detection.

“He was under law enforcement escort at all times,” the spokesperson stated. “The individual later discharged a firearm at the officers and then left the hospital premises.”

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was subsequently captured and remains in custody.

Fortunately, no hospital staff or patients were harmed during the incident, according to hospital officials.

“The safety of our patients and team members remains our top priority,” the spokesperson said. “We are cooperating with law enforcement during their investigation and our deepest compassion remains with the officers and their families.”

The Chicago Police Department did not immediately provide Fox News Digital with additional information.

Police are expected to provide an update to the public Saturday afternoon.

John Boyd, a principal at the Boyd Company, which provides location advisory services to clients in Manalapan, highlights the town’s distinctive allure. He describes it as possessing a “sizzle factor” that draws in a select, exclusive clientele eager to be part of this prestigious community.

‘It really kind of defies gravity. It applies to just a very specific type of buyer with respect to net worth, and people who value privacy,’ Boyd explained. 

He added that having the Palm Beach County zip code is a status symbol and one of the most ‘prestigious’ in the country.

High-profile names like Goldman Sachs and BlackRock have expanded into the area, driving real estate activity and motivating high-income earners to make Palm Beach County their primary residence rather than a second vacation home. 

Boyd said his clientele has expressed interest in relocating their businesses to Florida because of the business-friendly tax climate.

Industry opportunity in West Palm Beach has spilled over into neighboring cities like Manalapan. 

Nick Malinosky, a realtor with Douglas Elliman, called Manalapan’s evolution over the last few years ‘remarkable.’ 

‘What used to be a relatively quiet, under-the-radar pocket of Palm Beach County has turned into one of the most sought-after ultra-luxury enclaves in the country. The biggest shift we’ve seen is the caliber of buyer, it’s no longer just seasonal residents or second-home owners,’ he told the Daily Mail.

He recalled selling a house in Manalapan a decade ago for around $28 million, adding that the listing is now worth over $60 million. 

Not only does Manalapan offer exclusivity and direct access to business innovation in West Palm Beach, but it is also uniquely situated for Intracoastal access. 

Real estate experts told the Daily Mail that wealthy buyers have access to larger waterfront compounds than in other towns in the county. 

Madison Collum, a realtor with Sotheby’s International Realty, said that $100 million might only buy half an acre to an acre on Palm Beach Island, whereas buyers can purchase a two-acre lot at the same price point in Manalapan. 

Collum recently sold a home on Ocean Blvd for $15.5 million. The residence spanned just under two acres, with 150ft of oceanfront access between the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean. 

The listing included seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a bar, a wine room, an additional guest house, a heated private pool, a gym, a private movie theatre, and a private dock.

‘Palm Beach has always been about proximity, Worth Avenue, the social scene, the clubs. Manalapan is more about exclusivity and control,’ he explained.

‘You have these rare ocean-to-Intracoastal properties where buyers can create true compound-style living, often with private docks on one side and beach access on the other. 

‘That level of dual-water frontage is incredibly hard to replicate, and it’s become a major driver of demand.’

A Pennsylvania mother, previously convicted for the accidental death of her infant while under the influence, has been arrested again on charges of endangering a child.

Arissa Ward, 32, faces charges of felony child endangerment and misdemeanor reckless endangerment. Authorities allege that a 2-year-old child, who Ward was supposed to be babysitting, was discovered wandering barefoot on a road, according to a statement from the Pennsylvania State Police to Fox News Digital.

On Tuesday at around 8:00 a.m., the Pennsylvania State Police at Troop J, York Station, received a report about a young child found in the middle of W Main St. in Windsor Borough, York County, the spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

The investigation revealed that Ward, the child’s babysitter, had fallen asleep, allowing the child to leave the house. A passerby spotted the child in the road without shoes and promptly alerted the police, according to the spokesperson.

As reported by Law & Crime, a probable cause affidavit states the boy was “cold to the touch” due to the weather conditions at the time.

The boy’s mother dropped him off to Ward around 6:30 a.m. the morning of the incident.

The woman “stated the front door was unlocked, which is not common,” according to the affidavit. “She walked in the residence and took [the boy] upstairs to Ward’s bedroom, which the door was open. [The mother] stated Ward was asleep and she had to wake her up,” the affidavit continued.

The mother then placed her son in the bed with Ward, after which Ward immediately fell asleep and had to be woken up again, Law & Crime reported, citing court documents. She told law enforcement that she did not close the bedroom door behind her, but did close the front door when she left.

Ward texted the mother shortly after 9 a.m.

“Good morning babe!! Whatcha doin. B—- where is you,” Ward texted.

“Hey girl!!! im at work lol. i was a little late today hope i dont get into trouble lol,” the mom replied.

About 30 minutes later, Ward texted “Where’s [the boy]???” according to Law & Crime.

The boy’s mother then started calling Ward, but got her voicemail all five times she called, according to court documents. Police called the mom at 10 a.m. letting her know they had her son.

When police knocked on Ward’s door, she allegedly answered it saying “I’m babysitting and I just woke up. What is going on?” The cops asked if she was “missing a kid,” and she replied, “Yes, yes, but he is not mine,” the affidavit said, according to Law & Crime.

“[The boy’s mom] dropped him off with me this morning,” she allegedly continued. “He’s a little boy, he’s 2… with blonde curly hair.”

When troopers found the boy, they contacted Children and Youth Services, according to Law & Crime. The group told them to “check Arissa Ward.” Ward had previously spent two days in jail after suffocating her 2-month-old son while drunk and high.

In December 2016, after a night of drinking with her partner, Ward fell asleep on the couch next to her baby. The child died of asphyxiation and had marijuana in his system.

Pleading no-contest to a manslaughter charge, Ward was supposed to receive a three-month minimum sentence. However, Judge William T. Tully instead sentenced her to only two days and then house arrest, citing her living daughter, who was 3 years old at the time, according to Penn Live Patriot News.

“I’m going to give you the opportunity to do a little bit of penance. This will be a chance to prove yourself,” Tully told Ward. “You have got to put yourself back together. Your daughter doesn’t need a semi-mom. She needs a whole mom.”

Ward posted bail for the recent child endangerment case and is due back at court on May 5, Law & Crime reported.

Fox News Digital reached out to Windsor Police Department and York County Court for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

Bill Maher, the well-known comedian, has taken aim at former President Donald Trump over the ongoing conflict with Iran, accusing Trump of prematurely boasting about a victory that hasn’t been achieved.

During Friday’s episode of his late-night show, Maher commented on Trump’s statements regarding the Middle Eastern conflict, suggesting they tend to repeat the same narrative week after week.

“It’s starting to feel like Groundhog Day, isn’t it?” Maher quipped.

He humorously added, “We’re capturing their boats, they’re capturing ours. It’s less like a war and more like a messy Florida divorce.”

The conflict between the United States and Iran escalated on February 28, following a series of joint US-Israeli airstrikes that resulted in the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Maher claimed his problem with Trump was how he ‘keeps saying we won, and we didn’t.’

‘Hormuz is not open, the people did not do an uprising, the regime is still in place,’ he said.

‘We did not win,’ Maher added. ‘Sorry.’

‘You can say what you want about his negotiating tactics,’ Maher said. ‘One tactic you can’t get him on is the silent treatment.’

He added: ‘Turns out, the one thing we are really good at is killing their leaders who are too stupid to go underground when we’re trying to kill them.’

Maher referenced rising gas prices across the US, which have skyrocketed in wake of the war.

Nearly 70 percent of Americans are concerned about high gas and fuel prices due to the Iran war, according to a Pew Research Center survey published April 7.

‘It was Earth Day this week but we found out we still use a lot of oil,’ Maher said. ‘Nobody can afford gas.’

‘The condom situation is so serious that we are changing the name from Operation Epic Fury to the Trojan War,’ he continued.

The world’s leading condom producer, Karex, told Reuters it could raise prices by up to 30 percent if supply chain disruptions continue.

Maher’s Friday remarks about Trump and the Iran war were just his latest about the conflict, which he has regularly discussed on his late night show.

Earlier this month, Maher mocked Trump’s ceasefire deal with Iran.

‘Apparently, this agreement we have, we have to save face and not kill everybody in Iran by pretending that [the Strait of Hormuz] is open,’ he said.

In Tampa, Florida, authorities have charged a former student from the University of South Florida with the murder of his roommate and the roommate’s girlfriend, both doctoral candidates from Bangladesh who vanished earlier this month.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced that 26-year-old Hisham Abugharbieh is facing two counts of first-degree premeditated murder involving a weapon in connection with the deaths of USF students Zamil Limon and Nahida Bristy.

Authorities discovered Limon’s remains on the Howard Frankland Bridge on Friday morning, but Bristy remains missing, according to Hillsborough County Chief Deputy Joseph Maurer.

Abugharbieh, a U.S. citizen by birth, was initially arrested at his family’s residence on Friday. His preliminary charges included illegally moving a body, failing to report a death, tampering with evidence, false imprisonment, and battery.

Police encountered Abugharbieh during a domestic violence call at his family home, located just north of the university campus. After safely relocating his relatives, Abugharbieh barricaded himself inside. A SWAT team, equipped with a drone, a robot, and crisis negotiators, was deployed to the scene. Abugharbieh eventually surrendered, stepping outside wrapped in only a blue towel.

Limon and Bristy, both 27, were considering getting married, a relative said. They disappeared from campus on April 16. Limon was last seen at his home in an off-campus apartment complex where he lived with Abugharbieh. Bristy, who lived on campus, was last seen an hour later at a campus science building.

An autopsy is being done on the remains to determine the manner and cause of Limon’s death, and those results are expected Saturday morning, Maurer said Friday.

Abugharbieh had been a USF student but was not currently enrolled. University records showed he had attended the school from Spring 2021 through Spring 2023, and had pursued a BS in Management, a university spokesperson said.

Limon was studying geography, environmental science and policy, and Bristy was studying chemical engineering. She was a graduate of Noakhali Science and Technology University. The school, which spelled her last name as Brishti, said in a statement Saturday that she was a Ph.D. candidate and described her as a talented and promising student.

“Her sudden passing has deeply saddened all of us,” Vice Chancellor Mohammad Ismail said. “The university family pays deep respect to her memory. At the same time, we demand punishment for those involved in her death and compensation for the victim’s family.”

The search for Bristy continues. Anyone with information regarding her disappearance is asked to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Abugharbieh had several previous arrests, the sheriff’s office said. He was charged with battery and burglary of an unoccupied dwelling in September 2023, and with battery that May – both classified in court records as misdemeanors.

Court records show Abugharbieh entered into a diversion program for first-time offenders charged with misdemeanors. He completed the program in 2024 and the charges were discontinued. A phone call to his lawyer in that case was not immediately returned.

Hillsborough County Court records also showed two domestic violence petitions filed by a family member in 2023. A judge granted an injunction in one case and denied the other petition. He also was accused of traffic violations.

Detectives from the New York City Police Department (NYPD) apprehended 18-year-old Zahir Davis on Friday night after a swift and intensive manhunt for the individual responsible for the shooting death of a child at a Queens playground earlier this month. This development was shared by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch in a post on Saturday.

Davis has been charged with murder in the case of 15-year-old Jaden Pierre, who was killed on April 16, as stated by Tisch.

According to officials, after Pierre was shot, Davis fled to Jamaica but returned to New York on Friday. Upon his arrival, he was promptly taken into custody by NYPD detectives working with the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The NYPD had previously circulated images of a suspect in the murder of Jaden Pierre, a 15-year-old.

Authorities reported that Pierre was shot at approximately 6:15 p.m. on April 16, near the intersection of Merrick and Baisley boulevards in Queens. The following day, the NYPD released photos of the individual sought in connection with the tragic incident.

Social media video of the incident showed a male repeatedly striking a young boy with his hands before opening fire toward the child. A crowd that had formed around the pair immediately dispersed after gunshots rang out.

New Yorkers, most notably former Mayor Eric Adams, harshly criticized Mayor Zohran Mamdani for failing to immediately respond to the shooting.

“A 15-year-old kid was beaten and shot to death at a Southeast Queens playground yesterday. And somehow this isn’t the top story,” Adams wrote in an April 17 post on X.

“Where is everyone else, including NYC Mayor Mamdani? Outrage shouldn’t depend on zip code. Every child deserves protection,” Adams added.

Mamdani held a closed-door meeting with community leaders to discuss the incident on April 20, he told reporters.

He later addressed the shooting publicly during an unrelated news conference Wednesday for Earth Day.

“I shared my thoughts on this the other evening, where I spoke about the fact that this was heartbreaking. It was heartbreaking, not just for what it means for his family and his friends, I know it was also heartbreaking for so many New Yorkers to watch this video and see others simply witness what unfolded as opposed to step[ping] up to address it,” Mamdani said.

“That is also our responsibility as a city government. I know that I have full confidence in the NYPD’s abilities to hold the individual responsible accountable,” he continued.

Mamdani did not attend a Monday vigil organized for Pierre but said he was setting up a time to meet with Pierre’s family.

Fox News Digital contacted the NYPD and Mamdani’s office for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

Bernie Ecclestone, the former Formula 1 chief, is reportedly seeing his wife make headlines with the purchase of a stunning £35 million mansion overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Portugal.

The well-regarded Portuguese newspaper, Correio da Manha, has called this acquisition the ‘largest private sale ever of a home’ in the nation.

Sources indicate that Fabiana Flosi, who is 46 years younger than the 95-year-old Ecclestone, has committed to purchasing this lavish estate in Quinta da Marinha, a resort locale in Cascais.

The transaction, situated approximately 15 miles west of Lisbon, Portugal’s vibrant capital, is believed to have been finalized around three months ago following six months of negotiations.

Correio da Manha identifies the previous owner of this luxurious property as Marco Galinha, a notable Portuguese entrepreneur and the founder of Grupo BEL.

The mansion’s features include a large pool, a tennis court and an internal lift.

Ecclestone married Brazilian marketing director Fabiana in August 2012 at his chalet in the exclusive resort of Gstaad in Switzerland.

He was reportedly spotted yesterday with two of his daughters at a fish restaurant in Cascais, called O Furnas do Guincho.

Fabiana talked last year about how she and Ecclestone navigate parenting their five-year-old son Ace despite the pair’s age difference.

In an interview with German newspaper Bild, she said: ‘Bernie and I are a team and we’re raising Ace as a team.

‘If I’m ever a little impatient, Bernie explains to him in his usual calm and quiet way that he can only watch half an hour of TV after he’s done his homework.’

She added: ‘It’s not easy for us to explain to Ace that online, tablet, and YouTube are only available on Tuesdays, while his classmates are allowed to do so every day.

‘I think it’s a good idea for him to get his first mobile phone at 12 or 14.’

Ecclestone himself said at the same time, in an interview marking his own 95th birthday: ‘Ace is a wonderful boy. He’s bright, curious and interested in everything.’

Ecclestone was chief executive of Formula 1 until he was replaced by Irish-American Chase Carey in 2017.

Last October it was reported he had put two of his yachts up for sale, with suggestions he was ‘clearing out his life and wealth.’

Ecclestone, worth about £2.4billion, confirmed he sold his superyacht ‘Petara’, named after his children Petra and Tamara from his second marriage to Croatian former model Slavica Radic.

He told Bild, ‘We just sold it’, while Fabiana added: ‘We only used it eight days in a year. We don’t need such a big yacht for that.’

It is not known who purchased the superyacht or for how much it eventually went for but the luxury vessel was previously valued at £17million and annual running costs were put at £1.7million.

Father-of-four Ecclestone had already cashed in on his collection of 69 super cars after selling them to Red Bull co-owner Mark Mateschitz earlier in the year.

The final price of the sale was never revealed, but estimates suggested the collection was worth £500million.

Confirming the deal at the time, Ecclestone said: ‘These are unique vehicles. They have written sport history and marked technical milestones. They embody 70 years of F1 history.

‘It means a great deal to me to know that this collection is now in the very best of hands.’

The recent sales come after a 2023 London court case in which Ecclestone admitted misleading authorities about overseas assets and paid £750million in back taxes.

The case ended with a 17-month suspended sentence, sparing him jail despite Ecclestone admitting he had hidden £416million from HMRC.

The court heard that the billionaire had concealed the existence of a trust in Singapore when HMRC investigators quizzed him about his tax affairs in July 2015.

Ecclestone had been asked by officers if he was a settlor or beneficiary of any trust in or outside the UK, and had answered: ‘No.’

Judge Bryan said this was a lie, as the tycoon was indeed linked to two complicated trust structures known as the Kinan trust and the Nanki trust.

Ecclestone’s lawyer Clare Montgomery said that it was never his intention to avoid paying tax and he was simply unaware of the true position of his affairs at the time. 

Ecclestone left school at 16 and was running a car dealership by 21.

He entered Formula One in 1972 when he bought the Brabham team for £100,000, before using his seat on the board of the Constructors’ Association to acquire the sport’s global TV rights, which he sold in more than 100 countries.

By the early 1990s, F1 was valued at £2.5billion and Ecclestone was earning an estimated £1million each week. It was eventually sold to Liberty Media for £6.4 billion.

Bernie Ecclestone was born in comparative poverty on October 28, 1930, in east London, but became one of Britain’s richest tycoons by transforming Formula One from a sport for car enthusiasts into a global brand producing profits of more than £1billion a year.

He left school at 15 to trade motorbike parts while employed by the Gas Board, and honed his skills by haggling over the prices of used cars with criminals.

He amassed a portfolio of luxury items including a large yacht, racehorses, fabulous houses across London and in Switzerland, and a private jet.

Ecclestone has been known to always pay in cash, and was often seen peeling off 500-euro notes from a wad. It was reported in 2014 that he had been known to carry $1million (£600,000) in cash in a plastic bag – and then leave the bag in a room by mistake.

He was been married three times, first to Ivy Bamford in 1952, then to Croatian model Slavica Radić in 1985 before their divorce in 2009 and most recently to Brazilian Fabiana Flosi in 2012.

He met Fabiana in 2009 at the World Motor Sport Council in Brazil when she was working in marketing for the Brazilian Grand Prix in Interlagos.

It was revealed in April 2020 that she was pregnant when Ecclestone was 89 years old. The boy was born in July 2002 and they named the baby Ace, with his father saying: ‘We have a son named Ace. I am so proud.’

Fabiana added: ‘It was all so easy. The birth was over after 25 minutes. I thank God.’

Ecclestone has four children, including Tamara and Petra, who are the daughters of his second wife Slavica.

It was reported in 2014 that she was paying him £60million a year as part of their divorce settlement.
