Renowned singer David Burke, who performs under the moniker D4vd, has been apprehended in relation to the tragic murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Her body was discovered in September 2025, concealed in the trunk of an abandoned Tesla in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Department shared the news via social media, stating, “Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division have taken David Burke, a 21-year-old Los Angeles resident, into custody for the murder of Celeste Rivas. Burke is currently being held without bail.”

Authorities announced that the case would be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office on Monday for potential charges. This marks the first time D4vd has been publicly identified as a suspect, although he had been under investigation by a Los Angeles County grand jury since February concerning Hernandez’s death.

The arrest of D4vd, a prominent figure in the music industry, has sent shockwaves through the community, as police work towards bringing justice to the young victim and her family.

The Associated Press reported in February that Hernandez’s body was found decomposed in an abandoned Tesla registered to D4vd and towed from the Hollywood Hills, citing court documents.

Prosecutors described the Houston-born alt-pop singer as the target of the investigation in grand jury subpoenas issued Jan. 15, seeking testimony from three of his relatives.

The Associated Press obtained the once-sealed documents, which were made public after the singer’s mother, father and brother appealed the subpoenas in Texas.

The documents state: “Target may be involved in having committed the following criminal offenses against the laws of the State of California, to wit: One count of Murder.”

The body of Hernandez was found Sept. 8, a day after she would have turned 15. She had been reported missing in 2024 as a 13-year-old seventh grader from her hometown of Lake Elsinore, about 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Authorities say she was 14 when she was killed, according to court documents.

The subpoena states that investigators searching a 2023 Tesla Model Y at a tow yard found a cadaver bag “covered with insects and a strong odor of decay.”

“Detectives partially unzipped the bag and observed a decomposed head and torso,” the subpoena states. Investigators from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene.

“Upon removing the cadaver bag from the front storage compartment, it was discovered the arms and legs had been severed from the body,” the document says. “A second black bag was discovered underneath the cadaver bag. Upon opening the second bag, the dismembered body parts were discovered.”

The singer was on a U.S. tour at the time and continued performing after the body was discovered. He later canceled the remaining shows, along with a planned European tour, as reports linking him to the case gained wider attention.

D4vd built a following among Gen Z fans with his blend of indie rock, R&B and lo-fi pop. He gained traction on TikTok in 2022 with “Romantic Homicide,” which climbed to No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. He later signed with Darkroom and Interscope Records and released Petals to Thorns and The Lost Petals in 2023.

Brian Hartline, who served as Ohio State’s receivers coach from 2018 to 2025, has been instrumental in shaping this impressive track record. In a conversation with The Post, Hartline emphasized his commitment to preparing players for professional success: “If you can’t play in the NFL, you are probably not starting for us. That’s what I would tell them,” he remarked. Hartline’s approach is straightforward: prioritize NFL readiness over merely excelling in college football or academics. “I’m trying to get you ready to play in the NFL. Period. Your job is to add those skills to the collective of Ohio State’s offense,” he added.

Hartline’s credibility extends beyond the college ranks into the NFL scouting community, where he is highly regarded. His expertise contributed to his selection as head coach at South Florida, where he is expected to leverage the region’s rich recruiting resources and increased financial backing. Before this role, Hartline was known in the NFL as a reliable 1,000-yard receiver for the Dolphins, which further solidified his reputation.

Ohio State’s practices reflect their professional aspirations, adhering to NFL standards such as requiring two feet in bounds for a completion—despite the NCAA’s one-foot rule. This alignment with professional regulations underscores Ohio State’s dedication to preparing players for the next level, reinforcing its status as a breeding ground for future NFL stars.

“From a development standpoint, [Ohio State receivers] are so far ahead of everybody else that’s coming from all these other places,” NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah said. “Brian Hartline has instilled in them a professionalism, a work ethic. You talk to the coaches who have had players out of there, it’s hard to see those guys not being successful for how they’ve been trained.”

LSU (NFL-high 16 receivers drafted since 2010) might want to argue, especially with four alums in the top seven in receiving yards in 2024 (Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Brian Thomas Jr. and Malik Nabers).

But — even before Tate is the likely first receiver selected next week — Ohio State counters with an Offensive Player of the Year (Jaxon Smith-Njigba), an Offensive Rookie of the Year (Garrett Wilson), two other All-Pros (Terry McLaurin and Chris Olave), and rising stars Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka.

“I think when you bring it all together and you look at the names and what we’ve done,” said Smith-Njigba, who just moved ahead of Chase and Jefferson as the NFL’s highest-paid receiver, “I think there’s no question now.”

Hartline thinks of McLaurin as a “CEO,” of Wilson as “explosive,” of Olave as “clean,” of Harrison Jr. as an “artist,” of Smith-Njigba as a “purist,” of Egbuka as a “perfectionist” and of Tate as “smooth.” But what’s the common thread?

“These athletes are some of the best in the league right now, but I think they had the right wiring,” Hartline said. “That’s really the formula. They all move and operate much differently, frankly. It’s not about a cookie cutter. It’s about being able to do the job the way that you do it but then having that mental makeup to be highly competitive, to take hard coaching, to apply coaching, to learn the game at a different level.”

Hartline operates with an NFL general manager’s mindset.

“It’s not that you can go make this catch. The question is how often you do it,” Hartline said. “GMs don’t care about all the issues. They want to know, ‘When I throw you the ball, what happens?’ There’s a general understanding that production doesn’t mean it was good. That’s big for me. That’s a curl, but it can still be a terrible route. My time up in the NFL [taught me] that we should’ve gotten it right yesterday, not today. The urgency is there. I took jobs of guys that were much more talented than me, but I didn’t make a mistake. I want them to operate the same way.”

Tate is the model of that mindset.

So what if he was the No. 2 receiver — drawing single coverage — at Ohio State?

Teammate Jeremiah Smith could be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 draft, and it hasn’t slowed Olave, Wilson, Smith-Njibga and Jameson Williams (one year at Ohio State before transferring to Alabama) that they played together.

“Carnell is probably the smartest player I’ve ever coached,” Hartline said. “All that’s going to happen for as long as Carnell wants to play is people are going to try to bring in the faster guy or the bigger guy and he’ll keep taking their job. No one will unseat him because he will never make mistakes. In a world of inconsistency, he’ll be the most consistent thing on your team.”

BIG SUR, Calif. — The community is mourning the loss of Joanna Shields, a 37-year-old woman from Southern California whose body was found in the remote wilderness near Big Sur.

Shields, a resident of Carlsbad, was discovered on April 9 by a group of hikers exploring the Ventana Wilderness within the Los Padres National Forest, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. Her death is currently being treated as suspicious and remains under investigation.

Those who knew Shields remember her as a nature enthusiast who radiated positivity to everyone she encountered.

In San Diego, Shields was often seen cruising on her skateboard, embodying the spirit of adventure as a brand ambassador for Evolve Skateboards.

“She had an incredible energy and a genuine love for skateboarding,” said Jeff Anning, the owner of Evolve Skateboards, reflecting on her passion and vibrant personality.

Anning, Evolve’s founder, said Shields had been a part of their skate family for years and her death has shaken the community.

“She just had so much energy. She was just so passionate, so kind, and she was always putting other people first,” Anning said. “She definitely touched a lot of people in her journey.”

Anning said Shields also played a role in growing the skateboarding community, particularly among women.

“We were getting more girls coming along to these group rides. It’s what it’s all about. She was very passionate about the sport,” Anning said.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office says Shields’ death is considered suspicious and their investigation is ongoing. Hikers who found her body described what they saw.

“I didn’t see any blood. She was pale. She had markings around her neck. I don’t want to say, you know, choking marks, but when the firefighter lifted the jacket, he confirmed she had a big gash on her head,” said hiker Gabe Holmes.

Despite those observations, authorities told Eyewitness News that while Shields’ death is being investigated as suspicious, “sometimes what somebody believes they are seeing is not what it appears to be.”

An autopsy has been completed and investigators say they are awaiting toxicology results before determining the cause and manner of death. That could take six to eight weeks.

The sheriff’s office said everyone who was at the scene is cooperating, no one is in custody and there is no threat to the public.

As the investigation continues, those who knew Shields are focused on honoring her memory.

“We just need to reflect and sort of celebrate who she was and, you know, the time she had here and the good she did,” Anning said.

A turbulent anti-ICE protest in Minnesota on Saturday reportedly turned violent, resulting in the alleged assault of a conservative reporter on camera. The incident unfolded during the “F*** ICE Day” demonstration in Minneapolis, where journalist Savanah Hernandez was on assignment.

Hernandez, affiliated with Turning Point USA, a conservative advocacy group established by Charlie Kirk, found herself at the center of unwanted attention. As the protestors realized her connection to TPUSA, a large and aggressive crowd began to surround her.

Among the protestors was Paige Ostroushko, who blew a whistle directly into Hernandez’s ear, escalating the confrontation. The situation intensified when Paige’s father, Chris Ostroushko, allegedly pushed Hernandez to the ground, adding physical assault to the mix.

The attack left Hernandez with broken glasses, and she later shared with Fox News Digital that she sustained a concussion and multiple sprains as a result of the incident. The altercation underscored the volatility and tensions present at the protest.

Chris and his wife, DeYanna Ostroushko, appeared on a small podcast episode published on Wednesday and shared their account of what happened, which contradicted what could be seen in the video of the assault. 

‘We are absolutely not violent people. In fact, we tend to shy away from it,’ Chris said on a recent episode of Pushing the Limits. 

‘In fact, that day, you’ll see I was not even up in the front at all during this whole event. I just stayed back and kind of watched what was going on.’

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Hernandez pushed back on Chris’s claim and said: ‘If I hit them first, it would be on camera.

‘There’s multiple angles of Paige walking up to me as I’m standing by myself. And also her mom is the first person who came up to start harassing me.’

Hernandez explained that she was shoved by DeYanna and Chris multiple times before the father ‘instructed his daughter on camera to go and “blow the whistle in my effing ear.”‘

In the video, Hernandez can be seen putting her hand up next to her face while Paige blows the whistle directly into her ear. At one point, it appears that the conservative reporter pushed Paige away to get her to stop whistling at her. 

That is when all hell broke loose, and Paige began shouting, ‘You hit me!’ 

DeYanna then comes up and shoves Hernandez while saying, ‘You f***ing hit my daughter?’ Hernandez then pushed back, said ‘Get the f*** off of me!’ and began walking away.

Chris quickly walked up while Hernandez had her back turned and aggressively shoved her to the ground while saying, ‘You f***ing touched my daughter!’ 

Paige can then be seen getting into Hernandez’s face while she gets up and saying, ‘Stupid b****, you f***ing touched me! You f***ing touched me!’

On the podcast episode, DeYanna claimed that Hernandez ‘backhanded’ Paige before Chris shoved the reporter to the floor. That appears to have been in reference to Hernandez pushing the daughter while protecting herself from the whistling. 

Trisha Pohland, an attorney for the Ostroushko family, told Fox News Digital: ‘Based off what I’ve seen, she went and hit Paige in the face when Paige was blowing a whistle… which she has every right to do and Savanah was the one that hit her.’ 

Hernandez told the outlet that the family of aggressive protestors ‘refused to leave me alone,’ and that ‘Every single time they attacked me was while I was trying to leave.’

Vice President JD Vance and Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon have said that the FBI has opened an investigation into the assault. 

‘I talked to Kash Patel… and I said, “I assume we’re doing something here,” and he said, “Yes, we’ve had multiple agents on the ground. We’ve already talked to Savanah,”‘ the vice president said. 

‘We’re gonna use the video to try to go after the people who assaulted her, and then try to defund the networks that fund those radicals who are going around assaulting activists,’ Vance concluded. 

On X, Hernandez thanked TPUSA leadership, including Erika Kirk, for reaching out to her and providing support. 

She also wrote: ‘I’ve never asked for security when conducting point-and-shoot journalism, because I’ve always had some semblance of hope that I still live in a safe country.
