HOPE TOWN, Bahamas — An American woman, whose dream retirement involved sailing the Bahamas, vanished after her husband claimed she fell from their small boat. The couple had been chronicling their adventures on social media, creating a network of followers and friends throughout their travels.

Lynette Hooker, 55, and her husband, Brian Hooker, 58, departed the Abaco Inn in Hope Town around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Just moments after sunset, the couple set off in a small boat toward their yacht anchored at Elbow Cay, according to local authorities.

Brian Hooker reportedly informed officials that Lynette fell overboard while holding the boat’s ignition key, which led to the engine shutting down. The current swept her away, prompting Brian to paddle to a marina in Marsh Harbor. He reported her disappearance at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.

John Waters, a friend of the couple, shared with Fox News Digital that he crossed paths with Lynette at an oyster bar in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2023. The duo was exploring the Gulf of America on their sailing adventure.

“Their new lifestyle was this boat that they picked up in Texas. They spent a year working on it,” Waters said.

He described the couple as both really nice and said they were going for their retirement dream of sailing. He said the couple “weren’t that experienced” in boating.

Three days into the search for Lynette, authorities have provided few answers.

Richard Cook, team leader with Hope Town Volunteer Fire and Rescue, told PEOPLE foul play isn’t suspected.

“It was just a lot of bad decisions,” Cook said. “Night time, very windy, no moon out yet so it was pitch dark and very rough conditions for the small boat they were in.”

Karli Aylesworth, Lynette Hooker’s daughter, who isn’t related to Brian, told Fox News’ Griff Jenkins that Brian Hooker has a history of being violent towards her mother. She did several interviews with media outlets on Tuesday, including with Fox News’ Griff Jenkins.

“I do believe something might have happened to her,” she said. “There’s history of them choking her out and threatening to throw her overboard. So the fact that this is actually happening makes me believe there’s more to the story.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to Brian Hooker several times but has not received a response. He has not been charged with a crime.

Aylesworth told Fox News Digital that Brian Hooker’s behavior would shift when drinking alcohol.

“He starts to act more smart-a—y and more picking at you and like ‘I know this will irritate you so I’m gonna do that’” type of attitude.

Aylesworth described her mother as a “very fit person” who wouldn’t lose her balance on a boat.

“I’m confused why she has the keys because she never drove the dinghy. It was always Brian. So the story just doesn’t add up right now,” Aylesworth said.

Geoff Fahringer, former dive team member for the Collier County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, told Fox News Digital that he doesn’t suspect foul play.

“Sadly, what I’ve seen in my experience is that this is unfortunately a somewhat common occurrence that seeing the circumstances of this entire accident, it’s something I’ve seen before,” Fahringer said.

Authorities haven’t said if Lynette Hooker was wearing a life jacket at the time she fell off the small boat.

The couple is very active on social media, largely showcasing their yacht. Their most recent Instagram post on Friday afternoon showed Lynette on a boat with the caption, “Not going anywhere for a while?!”

The Royal Bahamas Police Force is investigating the woman’s disappearance along with the Royal Bahamas Defense Force and Hope Town Fire & Rescue.

The U.S. State Department currently says the Bahamas issued a level 2 travel advisory for the Bahamas, is under a level 2 travel advisory and urges Americans to “exercise increased caution” due to crime, beach safety, as well as jet skis and boating dangers.

A spokesperson for the State Department told Fox News Digital the agency is aware of reports regarding the missing American and is working with Bahamian authorities.

Boating in the Bahamas isn’t well regulated, and the State Department has said that “injuries and deaths have occurred.”

This year’s dinner was hosted by 2025 champion Rory McIlroy, who pledged to honor both Woods and Mickelson during the event. The gathering was anticipated to be the priciest yet, with a cost of $318 per person, as reported by The Sun.

Guests enjoyed a variety of dishes, starting with trendy regional appetizers like Grilled Elk Sliders and Peach and Ricotta Flatbread. The menu also featured classic options such as yellowfin tuna carpaccio, and guests could choose between wagyu filet mignon or seared salmon for their main course.

The diversity of the menu was a standout feature, offering an eclectic culinary experience.

There was one dish that represented McIlroy’s native Ireland, a mashed potato recipe known as traditional Irish champ. However, the reigning Masters champ was admittedly hesitant to include too many selections from the Emerald Isle.

‘People keep asking me, ‘Why didn’t you go more Irish?’ the 36-year-old married father said at a press conference on Tuesday. ‘And I said, ‘Because I want to enjoy the dinner as well.”

For dessert, there were toffee pudding and ice cream options, as well as a drink menu that included a 1989 Chateau d’Yquem, Sauternes, Bordeaux that goes for $650 a bottle.

And as always, the host and reigning champion foots the bill for the dinner – one of many distinctions that has made the event a highlight of the golf calendar. 

But while great champions from Jack Nicklaus to Scottie Scheffler were on hand, it was hard not to think about Mickelson and Woods, who have combined to win the coveted green jacket on eight occasions.

‘Unfortunately, there will be a couple of guys that won’t be in that room, which is a shame,’ McIlroy told the Golf Channel on Monday. ‘But I want to make sure that they’re acknowledged as well.’

Mickelson’s current family health issue remains a mystery, but Woods’ ordeal has been front-page news for nearly two weeks.

Authorities claim Woods showed ‘several signs of impairment,’ including ‘bloodshot and glassy’ eyes with ‘extremely dilated pupils.’

In bodycam footage, the five-time Masters winner told police that he was ‘hoping to’ play in the Masters – but that it ‘depends on y’all.’

The crash took place just days after Woods took part in the final day of the TGL virtual golf league. It was the first competitive golf he played since July of 2024.

While McIlroy refrained from criticizing Woods, PGA star Jason Day did not let the 15-time major winner off the hook when speaking to reporters on Monday.

‘He’s just a human being like everyone else and we have struggles,’ Day said. ‘It’s unfortunate. 

‘The only thing that I don’t understand is that it’s a little bit selfish of him to drive and put other people in harm’s way, as well. 

‘But when you’re the player that he was and how strong-willed he is, he thinks he can do almost anything. That’s probably why he’s driving and a little bit under the influence.’

Day, a one-time Major winner from the 2015 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, underlined his admiration for Woods’ achievements in the game, adding: ‘He was my hero – he’s my hero.

‘The reason why I play golf is because of this tournament and Tiger. It’s hard to see him go through what he’s going through, and especially under the microscope.’

Funeral Home Faces Lawsuit Over Disturbing Mishandling of Stillborn Baby’s Remains

A Florida couple has secured a default summary judgment in their case against a funeral home, which they claim mishandled the remains of their stillborn son. The couple alleges that the funeral home improperly embalmed their baby and placed other bodies on top of him.

Alicia Richard and Namarcus Crane, the parents of Na-mir Crane who was stillborn on April 9, 2025, initiated a negligence lawsuit in July against Freeman Funeral Home and Cremation, located in Pompano Beach.

Following Na-mir’s passing, Richard and Crane paid $500 to the funeral home for embalming and other arrangements. However, within two weeks, they allege that the funeral home failed to provide even basic care, leading to the deterioration of their son’s “fragile body.”

The couple arranged for another funeral home to collect Na-mir’s remains. Upon arrival, the representative reportedly encountered “inhumane and horrifying” conditions, according to the lawsuit.

In an interview with NBC Miami, Crane and Richard expressed their distress, stating that their son was “unrecognizable.”

“Only way he found our son is because he saw a little toe sticking under a grown human male,” Crane told the outlet.

Plaintiff lawyer Jesse O’Hara wrote that the boy’s remains were “crushed beneath the body of a deceased adult male, reportedly over six feet tall and weighing in excess of 200 pounds.”

“Multiple bodies were haphazardly stacked in blatant disregard for industry standards and basic human dignity,” he said.

Na-mir was unsuitable for an open casket, the lawsuit alleges.

“Defendant’s actions and omissions deprived Plaintiffs of the sacred opportunity to grieve and honor their son through the rites of their faith, causing profound and lasting emotional trauma,” O’Hara wrote.

Broward County Circuit Judge Michael Robinson in January entered a default summary judgment in favor of the plaintiffs after the defendants failed to appear for a court hearing. An evidentiary hearing to determine damages is slated for April 28.

“I’ve handled a lot of cases, and this one sticks out to me,” O’Hara told WTVJ.

The experience has been devastating for Crane and Richard.

“We don’t have anything to remember him by; it hurt us even more every day waking up,” Crane told the TV station. “It hurts, can’t get it back, very painful.”

Richard concluded: “It crushed my soul.”

“When I watched the footage, I exclaimed, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe that just happened,’” a local resident recounted.

In a Texas neighborhood, a motorcycle accident resulted in a dramatic blaze on April 2, narrowly avoiding several children in the vicinity. This alarming incident was captured on security cameras owned by a nearby homeowner.

Robert Perez shared with KENS5 that upon returning home around 1:30 p.m. after picking up his son from school, he noticed an unusual stir nearby. Driven by curiosity, he reviewed the recordings from his home’s surveillance system and was taken aback by what unfolded before his eyes.

“When I watched the footage, I exclaimed, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe that just happened,’” Perez remarked.

The video, which has rapidly gained traction on social media, depicts a motorcycle skidding across the street with the rider sliding behind it. The bike eventually collides with a curb, igniting into flames.

“I saw that he had hit the curb, and then his motorcycle flew up in a fireball,” Perez said. “Fortunately, it didn’t hit the children that were close by, but it looked like a very close call.”

Perez said a neighbor was already attempting to put out the flames with a garden hose when he arrived. The footage also shows the rider running across the street while on fire before collapsing in a nearby field.

“I also noticed that the rider was running across the street on fire,” he said.

Perez said he was later told by authorities that no children were injured and that the motorcyclist survived.

“I’m just glad, from my understanding, when I talked to the police, the children are fine, and no one besides the rider was injured,” he said. “Even the rider was able to walk away from that accident.”

Perez described the footage as “incredible” and “mind-blowing,” noting that some viewers online questioned its authenticity.

“There was a lot of people out there saying this video is AI,” Perez said. “But I can say that this was not a hoax. This was a real video that actually happened.”

Authorities have not released additional details about the crash or the condition of the rider.

The reported comments emerge as US Vice President JD Vance jets into the country to boost Orbán’s re-election efforts in the biggest challenge to his grip on power in years.

After 561 days of closure, Tropicana Field opened its doors on Monday for the Rays’ initial home game of the season against the Chicago Cubs.

Hurricane Milton, which swept through Florida in October 2024, left a trail of destruction, severely damaging the renowned Tampa Bay stadium. The storm’s fierce winds, exceeding 100 mph, tore apart significant portions of the fiberglass roof.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries at the stadium during this severe weather episode.

Nonetheless, the venue suffered extensive damage, with the roof completely ripped off and debris scattered across the field, seating areas, and dugouts.

When scanning through the stadium, the extensive damage showcases the raw strength of Milton and the life-threatening wind gusts that helped tear the structure apart.

Since the devastating hurricane, the Rays were lucky enough to temporarily relocate to the Yankees’ spring training facility, George M. Steinbrenner Field, while renovations and rebuilding occurred at Tropicana Field.

Part of the return to the stadium includes the fun-filled stingrays, located inside the ballpark, who miraculously rode out the storm before being relocated, according to MLB.com.

They have finally returned home to the ballpark, once again.

Upon landfall, the Category 3 hurricane displaced thousands of Floridians, causing an estimated $34.3 billion in damage across the Sunshine State.

The hurricane was responsible for 12 direct deaths in the U.S., according to the NHC’s Tropical Cyclone Report.

Thankfully, the city council of St. Petersburg approved the $23 million plan to repair the ballpark’s roof and other needs.

The reopening of the stadium marks a huge milestone and sheds light on the Tampa Bay community’s resilience in rebuilding from what once was.

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. () – On the afternoon of April 7th, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office took to social media to inform the community about a critical incident near Walmart and Tractor Supply Co. at 300 Hopkins Corner Drive, Waynesboro, GA. The update was posted at 12:58 p.m., alerting residents to an active emergency in the vicinity.

Authorities confirmed the presence of an armed individual as the source of the incident.

Deputies had initially been called to Tractor Supply Co. following reports of a theft. Upon arrival, they encountered Tommy Browner Jr. The situation intensified around 12:23 p.m. when Browner brandished a firearm and threatened self-harm, leading to a tense standoff with law enforcement in the parking area.

To manage the situation, the Special Response Team and a Crisis Negotiator were called in to provide support.

By 2:19 p.m., officials announced the peaceful resolution of the standoff. A spokesperson stated that Browner surrendered after officers deployed less-lethal rounds and he was subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical care.

The area has since been reopened.
