Dakota Mortensen Breaks Silence on Social Media, Reflects on Past ‘Unhealthy Chapter’ with Taylor Frankie Paul

In the wake of a domestic violence incident that thrust him and Taylor Frankie Paul into the limelight last March, Dakota Mortensen has broken his silence on Instagram. This marks his first public statement since the controversy erupted.

On Monday, the 33-year-old shared a heartfelt message with his followers, reflecting on the tumultuous events of the past few weeks. “I’ve taken a step back and had time away from the chaos,” Mortensen expressed. “That space has been a breath of fresh air and has given me clarity.”

Mortensen emphasized that his priorities have shifted, saying, “My focus now is where it should have been all along — on my son, Ever, and creating a stable, healthy environment for him moving forward.”

He went on to acknowledge his own shortcomings, admitting, “I regret not stepping away from a difficult cycle sooner. I’m not perfect, and I take accountability for my part. I’m sincerely sorry to those I’ve hurt.”

He continued, “I regret not stepping away from a difficult cycle sooner. I’m not perfect, and I take accountability for my part. I’m sincerely sorry to those I’ve hurt.

Mortensen wrote that he has “chosen to step away from the spotlight to focus on [his] family, [his] growth and [his] healing, and that’s where [his] energy will remain.”

He is “closing an unhealthy chapter and moving forward with hope for better days ahead.”

The “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star noted that he doesn’t “agree with how the situation has been portrayed publicly,” claiming headlines do “not reflect the full context of what occurred or the impact it has had.”

He concluded, “I’m grateful for all of the encouragement and support I’ve received, and I’m committed to showing up in a way that reflects that. My intention, over time and when appropriate, is to use what I’ve learned in a way that supports others navigating similar situations.”

Mortensen’s social media carousel included a second slide pointing victims of domestic violence to helpful resources.

He last posted to the platform on March 15, sharing photos of Ever, 2, “looking at chickens.”

Two days later, news broke that “SLOMW” had halted filming over an investigation into Paul, 31, and Mortensen’s alleged domestic violence incidents in February — with accusations made “on both sides.”

The former couple, who have dated on and off since 2022, have since each filed protective orders against each other.

Mortensen has temporary custody of their toddler, with a judge siding with him earlier this month and granting Paul only supervised visitation.

News broke last week that the MomTok star won’t face any new charges after Utah police concluded their investigations into the “several incidents” between her and Mortensen.

Paul, notably, was arrested on domestic violence charges in 2023 — and footage from the fight that led to that detainment was leaked last month.

Her season of “The Bachelorette” was subsequently canceled — but we hear the show may still make it to air.

Mortensen, for his part, is being edited out of Season 3 of “Vanderpump Villa” amid the drama.

Paul has been steadily posting to social media as the scandal rages on, giving a glimpse of the “ugly parts” of her healing journey in vulnerable photos over the weekend, highlighting her weight loss.

“I wouldn’t wish this upon my worst enemy,” she wrote on Sunday. “[I’m] working on eating, movement, rest, and retraining the nervous system.”

Trump’s Surprising Shift on Iran Nuclear Policy Following Intense Discussions with Top Military Officials

0

Donald Trump is contemplating an arrangement that might allow Iran to restart uranium enrichment in ten years. This consideration comes even as he vocally expressed his frustration with top military officials after Iran shot down two American pilots.

According to reports from the New York Times, the proposed plan would have Iran halt uranium enrichment for a decade. After this period, they could begin producing a limited quantity of low-enriched uranium for another ten years.

Initially, Trump advocated for a 20-year halt, concerned that a shorter suspension might too closely resemble the 2015 nuclear deal he decided to abandon.

Under the nuclear agreement signed during Barack Obama’s administration, Iran was restricted from enriching uranium beyond civilian levels for 15 years.

However, in light of recent tensions and a heated exchange with his military advisors, Trump seems to be reconsidering his stance, potentially showing more flexibility in pursuit of concluding the ongoing conflict.

Trump ‘screamed at aides for hours’ following the downing of an American jet earlier this month, according to a new report released by the Wall Street Journal. The President was also ‘kept out of the room’ while his team was given minute-by-minute updates.

On April 3, an F-15E Strike Eagle with two crew members was shot down by Iranian forces in a dramatic escalation of the war.

It was believed to be the first US plane brought down by enemy fire during the conflict, as images of the wreckage circulated widely on social media.

Following the news, images of the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis loomed heavily in Trump’s mind, according to the report.

Trump reportedly demanded that the military retrieve the pilots immediately, but US troops hadn’t been on the ground in Iran since the government overthrow that led to the hostage crisis.

Aides updated Trump at meaningful moments, a senior administration official told the outlet.

While one pilot was rescued seven hours later, the other remained missing until late Saturday evening, when he was finally saved in a high-stakes extraction.

It wasn’t until after 2am that Trump went to bed.

The Daily Mail has contacted the White House for comment.

The report comes as peace talks hang in the balance with Iranian state news claiming the regime has ‘no plans’ for upcoming peace talks with the US.

Pakistani and US officials have claimed that Iran is interested in further talks in Pakistan despite the regime’s public messaging.

Over the weekend, Tehran said it was planning to attack US force in retaliation for the Navy’s raid on an Iranian tanker which tried to breach the American blockade on Sunday.

US Central Command announced Sunday that sailors aboard the USS Spruance opened fire on an Iranian oil tanker after it failed to heed multiple warnings to turn back in the Strait of Hormuz.

Writing on Truth Social over the weekend, Trump said: ‘Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named TOUSKA, nearly 900 feet long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to get past our Naval Blockade, and it did not go well for them.’

The regime responded by stating it was ‘ready to decisively confront the American aggressor forces’, but postponed strikes at the last moment due to safety concerns, according to state media.

On Monday morning, Brent crude futures were up by 4.74 per cent at $94.66 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate was 5.6 per cent higher at $88.55.

Travis Barker’s Playful Birthday Gesture for Kourtney Kardashian Captures Attention

0

Celebrating from head to toe, Travis Barker honored his wife Kourtney Kardashian’s 47th birthday in a rather unique fashion. The Blink-182 drummer shared a series of photos, including one where he playfully indulged in a toe-sucking moment with the reality star.

On Saturday, Barker unveiled this intimate glimpse into their life, alongside other snapshots that showcased Kardashian enjoying precious moments with their 2-year-old son, Rocky, as well as relaxing by the pool.

Expressing his enduring love, the 50-year-old musician captioned the heartfelt tribute with, “Happy Birthday my beautiful wife. I love you forever and ever.” The photos capture not only family warmth but also Barker’s deep affection for his wife, the founder of Poosh.

Barker also shared images of his wife spending time with their son, Rocky, 2, and sunbathing while lounging poolside.

“Happy Birthday my beautiful wife. I love you forever and ever,” the musician, 50, captioned the post.

“Thank you for being such an amazing woman, an incredible wife, and the best mom to our humans. I feel so grateful to spend this life with you @kourtneykardash 🖤,” he added.

Fans took to the comments section to express their commentary about Barker’s toe-sucking image.

“i definitely could’ve done without the last picture lmao. super sweet pics tho,” quipped one user.

“Now why the last photo?” added another.

“I knew there was going to be a foot picture 😂,” commented a third person.

“Are the toe sucking pics necessary Travis?” asked a fourth netizen.

“Lmao every Aries queen deserves a toe sucking lover 😍😜,” said another fan.

Kardashian previously revealed that her husband had a special love for her petite feet.

“I love really cute feet,” she said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in 2022.

“I mean, if somebody wants to pay extra attention to my feet, I’m not mad at that. Well, my husband, not just anybody,” the mom of four added.

That same year, the “All the Small Things” hitmaker was seen caressing and kissing his wife’s feet in several snaps from their Italian wedding.

And in 2024, Barker hinted at his foot fetish when he shared a Valentine’s Day post to Kardashian, which included a snap of him kissing her toes.

District Attorney Reports Shocking Incident: Woman Trapped in House Fire After Gas Attack

Franklin Faircloth (Sampson County Sheriff’s Office).

A woman from North Carolina is in critical condition after a horrific incident in which her boyfriend allegedly attempted to kill her by setting her on fire. Authorities report that the 36-year-old victim suffered severe burns to her arms, legs, chest, and back while trapped inside a locked house.

Franklin Faircloth, a 29-year-old resident of Roseboro, faces multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, first-degree arson, first-degree burglary, assault causing serious bodily injury, and a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence related to the April 12 attack.

The victim is currently being treated at a trauma center with burns covering nearly two-thirds of her body. Her family has informed the local ABC affiliate, WTVD, that her condition is grave. The Sampson County District Attorney’s Office has stated that should she succumb to her injuries, Faircloth will be charged with first-degree murder.

Although the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim, her family has requested that her name remain confidential, a request that has been honored by Law&Crime.

“Someone tried to kill my sister last night,” the victim’s sibling shared in an emotional Facebook post. “She was doused in gasoline, set on fire, and locked in a building.”

The victim told police that Faircloth allegedly “forced his way into her home and doused her in gasoline, then set her on fire,” before fleeing on a bicycle. He also allegedly set the victim’s home on fire.

“The defendant unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did maliciously burn the dwelling house inhabited by [the victim],” an arrest warrant says. “At the time of the burning, [the victim] was in the dwelling house.”

The warrant alleges that Faircloth set “both arms, legs, chest, and back” of the victim on fire. He was arrested on April 13 and appeared in court Thursday in Sampson County, where he was denied bond.

“We have also experienced such a roller coaster of emotions,” the sister said on Facebook. “We were in court when her attacker was denied bond. That alone has given us so much comfort. We’ve spent so much time in the hospital I struggle to remember what day it is.”

Numerous friends and relatives have been posting messages showing support for the victim in the wake of what happened. One person wrote, “Babygirl keep fighting and come home to us!!!”

Another person said, “I just can’t get [the victim] off of my mind. Just thinking about what she had to endure, hurts my heart. I met her through my job … She has always been so sweet and respectful to me. Please, pray for her.”

Faircloth is due to appear in court again on May 8.

Two Soldiers in Alaska Sustain Injuries After Unexpected Brown Bear Encounter During Training

0

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A brown bear encounter left two U.S. Army soldiers injured during a training exercise in the rugged terrain surrounding Anchorage, officials reported on Friday.

The confrontation occurred on Thursday while the soldiers conducted a “land navigation training event” in the Arctic Valley area, which is part of the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson training grounds.

As of Friday, the soldiers were receiving medical treatment, according to a military official who spoke to the Anchorage Daily News. Attempts to reach base spokespersons for further comment were unsuccessful as of Friday, per the Associated Press.

The condition of the soldiers remains undisclosed, as authorities await family notifications before releasing further information.

In an attempt to defend themselves during the encounter, both soldiers employed pepper spray against the bear. The incident is currently under investigation, and additional details are limited at this time.

“The safety and well-being of our personnel is our highest priority,” Lt. Col. Jo Nederhoed, a spokesperson for the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division, said in an email to the Anchorage Daily News.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is investigating what it says appears to have been “a defensive attack” by a bear that had recently emerged from a den. The area near where the incident occurred has been closed to recreational activity by base officials, the department said.

Samples were collected by investigators with the aim of positively identifying the species and gender of bear involved, the department said.

The base encompasses 100 square miles (259 square kilometers) within the Municipality of Anchorage, where up to 350 black bears and 75 brown bears roam freely.

Anne’s Unique Contribution to the Late Queen’s 100th Anniversary

0

Princess Anne, known for her dedication, is poised to have a significant role in the centenary celebrations for the late Queen, as the Royal Family honors Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are at the forefront of the commemorations set for April 21, which marks what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday.

The royal couple plans to visit the British Museum to view the final design of the forthcoming Elizabeth II memorial. Following this, they will host a reception at Buckingham Palace to reminisce and share memories of the Queen.

Princess Anne, as the only daughter of Elizabeth, is taking on a special part in celebrating her mother’s life and enduring legacy, following her passing in September 2022.

In honor of the late Queen’s birthday, the 75-year-old Anne will have the honor of inaugurating The Queen Elizabeth II Garden in London.

The peaceful two-acre garden, transformed from a disused plant nursery, is set to commemorate the life of Elizabeth and her ‘unwavering loyalty and service, with each end offering a moment of quiet reflection’.

While serving as a key place to remember the late Queen, it is hoped the tranquil green space will provide ‘significant benefits to nature’ and a suitable place for Londoners seeking a moment of calm.

Filled with plants that held particular poignance to the late Queen, the garden will feature a pond, viewing platform and flower garden and cost an estimated £5million to complete, funded by The Royal Parks charity.

Princess Anne, is set to play a rather unique role in remembering the life and legacy of her beloved mother, who passed away in September 2022

Meanwhile, the King is also set to become Royal Patron of the independent Queen Elizabeth Trust will offer grants for UK communities to develop and regenerate shared spaces.

It is one of three projects honouring Elizabeth II’s legacy that are being formally unveiled on her birthday.

Throughout her 70-year reign, the Queen became well-known for her amusing one-liners which appear to have rubbed off on her only daughter.

Anne and the Queen were also said to have shared an incredibly close bond, with the Princess Royal later sharing how she felt ‘fortunate’ to have shared the last 24 hours of her ‘dearest Mother’s life’ prior to her death at Balmoral.

According to Anne’s husband Sir Timothy, the Princess Royal has always shared her beloved mother’s quick wit and heartwarming ability to make royal engagements more entertaining.

Speaking in 2020 on ITV documentary Anne: The Princess Royal at 70, Sir Tim said: The similarities with her (Princess Anne’s) father are much talked about, but what is less spoken about is the similarities with her mother, the Queen.’

‘The common theme is humour and fun,’ he added.

In Her Majesty’s final days, Anne stood by her side and later shared how it had been ‘an honour and a privilege’ to accompany the Queen on her final journeys as she travelled with the monarch’s coffin back to London.

On the date of the late Queen’s birthday, Anne, 75, will be responsible for opening The Queen Elizabeth II Garden in London , which will welcome members of the public from April 27

In an emotional public statement, Anne said she was ‘fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest mother’s life’.

She said the love and respect shown to the Queen on her journey from Balmoral to Edinburgh and on to London had been ‘both humbling and uplifting’.

Anne also thanked the nation for the ‘support and understanding offered to my dear brother Charles’ as he takes on his duties as King.

I know how the Queen REALLY felt about Meghan

Hi! I’m Richard Eden, Diary Editor and author of the Palace Confidential newsletter.

I have spent hours looking into what Meghan Markle’s relationship with the Queen was really like. And while I can tell you Meghan was welcomed with open arms, my sources have told me the Queen was very quickly concerned. Sign up here to read what I discovered

She ended her statement with the words: ‘To my mother, The Queen, thank you.’

Her tribute was shared to the Royal Family’s Instagram account along with a photo of Anne and the Queen, which was first released to mark the late monarch’s 90th birthday in 2016.

The heartwarming image showed the mother and daughter sat on a sofa in the White Drawing Room of Windsor Castle.

Since her mother’s death, Anne has taken on a pivotal role in the Royal Family, while often praised by royal fans for her impeccable work ethic and down-to-earth nature.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams previously told the Daily Mail: ‘She relishes a high workload and usually undertakes the most royal engagements of any royal. However, she prefers to avoid the media circus that follows the most high-profile royals.

‘She is absolutely pivotal in keeping public support for the monarchy.’

The royal expert added that a wise and insightful Anne may likely be able to assist her brother, King Charles, with his handling of the crisis.

He explained: ‘What Anne can offer King Charles, who reportedly has been under pressure from William over his handling of this crisis, is down to earth advice.’

Mr Fitzwilliams noted that the royal siblings may ‘not always agree’, but says that in such unprecedented circumstances ‘it is pivotal that Charles listens to views which differ or are opposed to his own’.

Anne and the Queen were also said to have shared an incredibly close bond, with the Princess Royal later sharing how she felt 'fortunate' to have shared the last 24 hours of her 'dearest Mother's life' prior to her death at Balmoral

Anne and the Queen were also said to have shared an incredibly close bond, with the Princess Royal later sharing how she felt ‘fortunate’ to have shared the last 24 hours of her ‘dearest Mother’s life’ prior to her death at Balmoral

Over the course of the last few weeks, the stoic Princess Royal has routinely maintained a brave face – while also delighting royal fans with her quick wit and humble nature during her public engagements.

And it is certainly reminiscent of the late Queen, who was routinely praised for her dedication to a life of public service and dry sense of humour.

As calls for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to do ‘the decent thing’ and remove himself from the royal line of succession mount, one may begin to question where Anne could fall amid a possible royal restructure.

As Mr Fitzwilliams noted, the Princess Royal is currently 18th to the throne, given that the altered rules of succession in 2013 ‘unfortunately were not applied retroactively’.

‘If they had been, she would have been 5th behind William and his family – and the public would undoubtedly welcome that,’ he explained.

According to Mr Fitzwilliams, Anne’s ‘no-nonsense approach’ is her essential attribute that has truly captivated royal fans.

And the public’s insatiable love for Anne has certainly shown little sign of wavering, with royal fans often taking to social media to praise the ‘humble’ and ‘class act’ princess.

‘She reportedly does her own make-up and sometimes drives herself to engagements. She is also famed for her unstuffy approach and often recycles outfits,’ he added.

Queen Camilla Honors Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy: A Tribute to Unwavering Duty

0

Queen Camilla recently paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, highlighting her remarkable ability to “carve her own role” in a world largely dominated by men. The 78-year-old royal, wife of King Charles, expressed admiration for her late mother-in-law’s profound sense of duty and reflected on the challenges she faced upon ascending to the throne at just 25 years old, following the death of King George VI in February 1952.

In a recent BBC documentary titled “Queen Elizabeth II: Her Story, Our Century,” which aired on Sunday, April 19, 2026, Camilla shared her thoughts on the legacy left by Queen Elizabeth II. The program was broadcast ahead of what would have been the late queen’s 100th birthday on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

Queen Camilla praised Queen Elizabeth's sense of duty

Queen Camilla praised Queen Elizabeth’s sense of duty

The 78-year-old royal – who is married to King Charles – has spoken out about her late mother-in-law’s “overriding sense of duty” and reflected on what life must have been like for her when she unexpectedly took the throne in February 1952 at the age of 25 following the death of her father, King George IV.

Speaking in BBC documentary Queen Elizabeth II: Her Story, Our Century – which aired on Sunday (19.04.26) and explored the late queen’s legacy ahead of the centenary of her birth on Tuesday (21.04.26) – Camilla said: “It must have been so difficult, being surrounded by much older men.

“There weren’t women prime ministers or women presidents. She was the only one, so I think she carved her own role.”

Camilla noted the late queen, who was Britain’s longest-serving monarch when she did in September 2022, had a sense of duty which had “overridden everything” else in her life.

She added: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody have a sense of duty like she had.”

Months before the queen’s death, Elizabeth celebrated her Platinum Jubilee in June 2022 and Camilla thinks the occasion was just what Great Britain needed after the COVID-19 pandemic.

She said: “I remember there were thousands and thousands of people lining streets, lining The Mall.

“We were all looking for something to cheer us all up … So it was an incredible jubilee.

“She was very much centre stage. I’ve never seen anything like it. Everybody was in a good mood.”

Elsewhere in the documentary, former US president Barack Obama, who stayed with the queen at Buckingham Palace with his wife Michelle during a 2011 state visit, also praised Elizabeth’s sense of duty and noted how she is a key part of world history.

He said: “What struck me in every conversation that I had with her was the weight of her experience.

“She did understand the sweep of history. That gave her a respect on the world stage. The combination of the sense of duty with a very human quality of kindness and consideration, and sense of humour.

“I think that’s what made her so beloved, not just in Great Britain, but around the world. By virtue of her having known every world figure through the entire 20th century, she’s a link to history.”

Dame Helen Mirren – who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Elizabeth in 2006 movie The Queen – described the late monarch as “an intrinsic part of the tapestry of our life”.

She said: “She’d become such an intrinsic part of the tapestry of our life, it was as if you were going to pull a thread and the whole thing was going to fall apart.”

The Strokes’ Coachella Performance Sparks Controversy Over Political Messages

0

The Strokes wrapped up their weekend performances at Coachella on Saturday with a controversial video montage that seemed to promote propaganda supporting Iran’s oppressive government and the militant group Hamas.

Taking the festival’s main stage just before headliner Justin Bieber, the New York-based indie rock band ended their set with a politically charged display designed to provoke thought and discussion.

During their final number, “Oblivius,” a track from 2016, the screen behind the band showed a series of images featuring leaders they alleged were toppled by the CIA. Among these were visuals of the U.S. civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., accompanied by a caption stating, “US Govt found guilty of his murder in civil trial.”

The Strokes continued their message by criticizing the United States, claiming it had destroyed universities in Iran. They also displayed footage of a university in Gaza, labeled as the “last university in Gaza,” being destroyed by a missile.

For those interested, a clip of the performance is available to watch.

The set closeout on Saturday was not the only time The Strokes pushed their radical, left-wing politics on the Coachella audience.

Last week lead singer Julian Casablancas took aim at Jeff Bezos by wearing a t-shirt with a facsimile of the Amazon logo and the word “crime” emblazoned on it.

The “Last Night” singer also railed about the Trump administration’s plan to automatically enroll young men in the U.S. military draft once they hit 18 years of age.

“You guys excited about the draft?” he said from the stage. “Oh wait no, not the NFL draft, I’m talking about in six months, I think everyone’s going to have to register who’s eligible for the military. You guys excited?”

The band is set to release their new album, Reality Awaits, in June. It their first album in six years.

Cameron and Carys Fairfax: Emerging Talents in Basketball and Lacrosse

In a tragic turn of events, Cameron Fairfax, 16, and his sister Carys, 14, found themselves orphaned after the heartbreaking loss of their parents, former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax and Dr. Cerina Fairfax. The apparent murder-suicide unfolded on April 16, 2026, in their Annandale residence, leaving the community in shock.

Amid the storm of headlines surrounding a turbulent divorce and allegations of domestic violence, Cameron and Carys’s lives tell a story of resilience and achievement. Both siblings are not only dedicated students but also excel in sports, with Cameron making strides in basketball and Carys showcasing her talent in lacrosse. Their mother, Dr. Cerina Fairfax, was instrumental in nurturing their academic and athletic pursuits, earning praise from a judge for her “mother’s grit” during the family’s legal battles.

Cameron and Carys Fairfax: Rising Basketball and Lacrosse Stars

Who Are Cameron and Carys Fairfax?

As the investigation confirms that it was Cameron who made the distressing 911 call, attention now turns to how these young individuals will cope with the aftermath of such a profound tragedy. They face the daunting challenge of moving forward without their parents, but their past achievements suggest a strong foundation to build upon.

Details from court documents paint Cameron and Carys as “hard-working” students who consistently achieve high academic standards at renowned private schools in Northern Virginia. Cameron, a junior, and Carys, a freshman, have shown remarkable resilience, a testament to their mother’s unwavering support amid a “toxic” household environment.

Academic Excellence at Prestigious Private Schools

Both teens attend elite Catholic college preparatory schools known for rigorous academics and competitive athletics.

Cameron Fairfax attends Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., a renowned institution for boys. Carys Fairfax attends St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly, Virginia. Court records indicate that prior to the murder-suicide, their father, Justin Fairfax, had allegedly failed to pay half of their private school tuition, violating a postnuptial agreement.

Cameron Fairfax’s Basketball Journey From Age Two

Cameron Fairfax has been playing basketball since the age of two, rising to become captain of his varsity team.

Described as a “gifted athlete,” Cameron serves as the captain of the Gonzaga College High School basketball team. He also plays on competitive travel teams. During divorce proceedings, Cerina Fairfax testified that Justin Fairfax purchased a handgun in 2022 with money intended for horseback riding lessons for the children, highlighting financial strain on their extracurricular activities.

Carys Fairfax Shines in Varsity Lacrosse

Carys Fairfax has already made a name for herself as a standout player on her high school’s varsity lacrosse team.

As a freshman at St. Paul VI Catholic High School, Carys plays varsity lacrosse, a significant achievement for her age. Like her brother, she is considered a high-performing student-athlete. The court noted that both children were heavily involved in sports and travel teams, activities primarily coordinated and financed by their mother, Dr. Cerina Fairfax.

The Tight Mother-Child Bond Documented in Court

A judge’s ruling explicitly credited Cerina Fairfax’s “grit” for the children’s success and well-being.

In a March 30, 2026, custody order, Judge Timothy McEvoy wrote that the children’s “remarkable resilience and early success in life came down to what can best be described as mother’s grit.” The court found that Cerina was the primary caregiver, planner, cook, and disciplinarian, working part-time as a dentist while Justin Fairfax had withdrawn from family life.

Family Life in Annandale Before Recent Events

The Fairfax family lived in a $1.4 million home in Annandale, Virginia, but tensions were extremely high.

Despite separating nearly two years ago, the couple continued living in the same house. A judge noted “it is clear tensions in the Fairfax home have been extremely high for an extended period of time.” Cerina Fairfax alleged her husband drank daily, with his space “littered with empty wine bottles,” and that he had become increasingly withdrawn after leaving political office.

Community Fundraiser Launched for the Children’s Future

Following the tragedy, a community fundraiser has been launched to support Cameron and Carys’s education.

Given that the primary breadwinner and organizer is deceased, and the surviving estate is tied up in legal proceedings, friends and community members are rallying. The funds are intended to cover the teens’ private school tuition, basketball and lacrosse fees, and college preparation costs as they go to live with extended family members.

Siblings Cameron and Carys: Kindness and Team Spirit

Despite the turmoil at home, coaches and family friends describe the siblings as kind-hearted team players.

Court documents and statements to police indicate that neither teen had a criminal record or behavioral issues; rather, they were noted for their team spirit and high academic performance. The son was brave enough to call 911 after discovering the scene, demonstrating a level of maturity noted by the responding officers.

How Sports and School Shaped Their Childhood

For Cameron and Carys, sports and school were not just activities but sanctuaries from a volatile home.

The structured environments of Gonzaga and St. Paul VI provided stability. While Justin Fairfax’s political career collapsed following sexual assault allegations in 2019 (which he denied), Cerina focused on maintaining normalcy for the kids, shuttling them to practices and games. This structure is likely why the judge awarded her primary custody just weeks before the murder.

Support Networks Now Surrounding the Teens

Fairfax County Police and child services have confirmed the teens are safe and surrounded by family.

Police Chief Kevin Davis stated that the children were “interacting with us” immediately after the shooting and are now staying with relatives. The school districts have mobilized crisis teams to support students and faculty. Former Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam stated he is “praying for the couple’s two children,” as the wider political and dental community offers support.
