The beloved franchise, Pokémon, is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and The Pokémon Company has been pulling out all the stops to commemorate this significant milestone. Earlier this year, they launched the game Pokémon Pokopia, and fans are eagerly anticipating the next main series installment, Winds and Waves, set for release next year. In addition to these exciting developments, there’s a wide array of new merchandise, including a fresh LEGO set that takes enthusiasts back to the much-loved Kanto region.

Recently unveiled on Instagram by @got.cooped, this new LEGO set highlights the popular Pokémon Charizard and Jolteon. While Kanto’s Pokémon have always enjoyed a special spotlight from The Pokémon Company, they’ve also been expanding their LEGO offerings to feature other Pokémon, such as the Rayquaza set, which was leaked earlier this month.

Though recent Pokémon LEGO releases have catered to adult collectors, the forthcoming set is part of the Smart Play series, designed for ages 8 and up. This set, comprising 751 pieces, showcases an epic showdown between Charizard and Jolteon and is officially titled “Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle.”

There have been a few recent Pokémon LEGO releases designed for adult collectors, but the upcoming set is part of the Smart Play series and is intended for ages 8 and up. This 751-piece set will feature a battle between Charizard and Jolteon and is officially called “Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle.”

The Smart Play series is designed to effectively bring LEGO creations to life through a built-in gyroscope, distance tracking, remotes, and more. In addition to LEGO bricks, it comes with accessories like Smart bricks that users can use to make the two Pokémon battle in real life.

Although the set has been revealed by leakers, who provided photos of the new set, it hasn’t been formally announced by LEGO or The Pokémon Company. Pokémon fans will want to watch out for an official release date so that they can add this set to their collections.

2026 Has Been a Big Year for Pokémon

The Pokémon franchise continues to be hugely successful, but some recent games have received a rocky reception from fans. Pokémon Scarlet & Violet delivered the open world fans had been asking for for years, but its poor performance on the original Switch turned off many fans. Legends: Z-A avoided Scarlet & Violet‘s bugs, but many felt that the game fell short of Legends: Arceus.

Thankfully, it seems like Pokémon is moving in the right direction again. When Pokémon Pokopia launched in March, it became the best-reviewed game in the franchise, and it gave the Nintendo Switch 2 its first killer app. Fans have only gotten a brief glimpse of Winds & Waves, but Pokémon‘s 10th generation is shaping up to be something special.

Fans will have to wait until next year to play Winds & Waves, but there are rumors that Pokémon Pokopia will be getting a major update or DLC later this year. Between that and amazing merchandise releases like this LEGO set, it’s clear that The Pokémon Company is celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary in style.
