Classic Armada Jetfire Makes a Comeback with a Sleek 2026 Transformation

Jetfire, a name familiar to fans of the Transformers series, is most notably remembered through two prominent versions. One of these incarnations emerged from a 2000s anime, and this iteration has recently been revitalized in the latest toy line, offering a fresh take on the iconic character.

In Transformers: Age of the Primes Armada, Jetfire draws inspiration from his portrayal in the anime Transformers: Armada. In this version, he swaps his traditional alternate mode for a more daring and aerial form. The updated design pays homage to the original toy, preserving many beloved features, though some elements might have been altered or omitted. Accompanied by a team of Mini-Cons, Jetfire adds a celestial touch to collectors’ displays, evoking a sense of nostalgia and novelty.

Reflecting his look from Transformers: Armada—or Transformers: Legend of the Mini-Cons in Japan—the Transformers: Age of the Primes Armada Jetfire is a formidable Commander Class figure. With a bulky and sturdy robot mode, this toy commands attention among other Autobots, standing an impressive eight inches tall. It transforms into a space shuttle through 41 steps, offering a unique transformation experience. The design diverges from traditional Jetfire depictions, yet retains the signature white and red color scheme fans adore.

Jetfire Blasts Off as the New Transformers: Age of the Primes Hasbro Figure

Based on his design from Transformers: Armada (known in Japan as Transformers: Legend of the Mini-Cons), Transformers: Age of the Primes Armada Jetfire is a gigantic Commander Class toy. Particularly chunky and robust in robot mode, the figure towers over other Autobots, with his new toy standing at eight inches in height. In 41 steps, he can transform into his space shuttle alternate mode, making both forms distinct from the usual depictions of Jetfire besides the white and red color scheme.

As with the original version of the toy, part of the shuttle engine/exhaust becomes his blaster in robot mode, with a shield acting as a defensive weapon. Thankfully, the classic toy’s annoying countdown electronic sounds are gone this time, but sadly, Jetfire’s Mini-Con partner Comettor doesn’t appear to be included. In his place, however, are three other Mini-Cons that are even more powerful.

This trio is made up of Astroscope, Skyblast, and Payload, who have satellite, rocket and rocket-carrying truck alternate modes, respectively. While it hasn’t been confirmed if this version of Payload can haul Skyblast in their alt-modes, the three Mini-Cons can become the powerful firearm known as the Requiem Blaster, with Jetfire able to wield this great weapon.

Also confirmed is the ability for Jetfire to combine with a similarly sized Optimus Prime. The preceding Transformers: Legacy line had a Commander Class Transformers: Armada Optimus Prime, and given that Jetfire’s shield in Armada became the chest of their combined “Jet Convoy” mode, this gimmick is being replicated here, via Hasbro’s official web listing for the figure.

Now available for pre-order for $99.99, Jetfire is expected to be released on Nov. 1, 2026. This is over 20 years after the original toy for the character, with Armada Jetfire proving to be one of the character’s most notable incarnations due to his combining ability. More so than the original Generation 1 Jetfire, this version’s design and transformation were based on the obscure G1 Autobot named Galaxy Shuttle, who had a Japanese-exclusive figure.

Ironically, the Japanese version of Armada Jetfire was called Skyfire, which was the name of G1 Jetfire in the classic cartoon The Transformers. This was to avoid promoting a toy derived from the mecha anime Macross, but the Armada take on the Autobot would certainly never be compared to a VF-1 Valkyrie with its original or upcoming toys.
