In a startling incident that unfolded in Gainesville, Florida, a 24-year-old man, Logan Scott Lawor, found himself in police custody following an alarming encounter with his neighbors. The episode, which took place yesterday, involved Lawor allegedly threatening three individuals with what appeared to be a firearm, but was later confirmed to be a BB gun, as they walked their dog.

The confrontation arose at approximately 10:40 a.m. on April 26, according to a report from the Gainesville Police Department. The group was walking along NW 35th Street when a disagreement escalated. The husband of one of the victims reportedly addressed Lawor’s mother, warning that if their dog became aggressive and bit someone, he would feel compelled to take action against it. He also asserted their entitlement to use the public road without interference.

It was at this juncture that Lawor emerged from his residence, brandishing what was initially thought to be a black handgun. The weapon, later identified as an Airsoft BB gun, was allegedly pointed at the victims’ legs. Lawor is accused of shouting and motioning for them to continue moving along the street, an action that understandably left the victims fearing for their safety.

When questioned by the responding officer, Lawor admitted to not thinking clearly during the incident and acknowledged that he might have overreacted. He clarified that the weapon was indeed a BB gun and expressed uncertainty about its functionality. Additionally, Lawor stated he was unaware that a child was among the group at the time of the confrontation.

The officer reported that when he spoke to Lawor, Lawor said he was not thinking clearly and may have overreacted; he also said the handgun was a BB gun, he wasn’t sure whether it even worked properly, and he did not know there was a child involved.

The officer reportedly reviewed doorbell camera video that showed Lawor walking down the driveway toward the victims, with a firearm in his hand. The video also reportedly showed Lawor waving the gun at the victims. The officer noted that the victims were lawfully present in the road when Lawor threatened them.

Lawor has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. He has no criminal history, and Judge George Wright set bail at $30,000.
