In a recent development from Gainesville, Florida, authorities have apprehended Bacarius A’kenshay Dinkins, age 33, following an alleged break-in at his former girlfriend’s home, which occurred in April. The incident reportedly resulted in approximately $1,000 worth of damage to the property and involved the theft of medical marijuana.
According to reports from the Gainesville Police Department, the series of events unfolded on April 19 around 1:00 p.m. The victim, informed by her colleagues that Dinkins had contacted her workplace to confirm her presence there, reached out to him for clarification. During the conversation, Dinkins allegedly confessed to forcefully entering her home by kicking in the door. He admitted to causing significant damage to items including ceiling fans, light fixtures, a section of wall, and the front door frame. He also purportedly acknowledged taking her belongings.
Upon arriving at the scene, an officer noted extensive damage throughout the residence, estimating the cost of repairs at about $1,000. Additionally, the victim reported that her medical marijuana, valued at $40, was missing from the premises.

The victim said Dinkins had previously lived at the residence, but he was trespassed from the residence after they broke up.
The officer spoke with Dinkins by phone, and Dinkins reportedly admitted going to the victim’s home that morning, but he said he did not go inside. He said he knew he was trespassed from the victim’s residence and that he should not have been there; he also reportedly admitted that he had called the victim while at her residence.
Dinkins has been charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, grand theft from a dwelling, and misdemeanor property damage. He has no criminal history, and Judge Joy Danne ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.
