GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In the early hours yesterday, a disturbance led to the arrest of 23-year-old Anaria Da’jeonia Goss. She stands accused of hurling a large butcher knife at the rear window of a vehicle, causing it to shatter.
At approximately 5:08 a.m., a Gainesville Police Department officer arrived at Candlelight Estates Mobile Home Park. The victim reported that Goss, his intermittent girlfriend, confronted him while he was driving around. According to him, Goss initiated an argument and subsequently threw the butcher knife at his car, causing the rear window to break; she is also accused of kicking one of the vehicle’s doors.
The attending officer remarked that the knife could have inflicted serious injury if it had struck the victim.
Authorities then approached Goss at her residence. She acknowledged having been in a relationship with the victim, though they were no longer together. Following the reading of her Miranda rights, Goss reportedly claimed to have no recollection of damaging the vehicle.
A witness reportedly corroborated the victim’s story and said Goss chased the victim’s car down the road from her home, holding a knife in her hand. He said he tried to get her to calm down, but when the victim pulled into a parking lot to see what was going on, Goss ran toward him, and as he tried to drive away, she chased his vehicle down the road and threw the knife at the victim’s vehicle, shattering the rear window.
Goss has been charged with throwing a deadly missile at a vehicle. She has a juvenile history between 2017 and 2019 and six adult misdemeanor convictions (non-violent); she is currently on probation for stalking. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $15,000 and ordered a mental health evaluation.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
