After surviving breast and pharynx cancer, Martina Navratilova claims to be “cancer-free” at this time.
In an emotional interview with Piers Morgan, the tennis legend shared the good news and said she had worried she ‘wouldn’t see next Christmas’.
The 66-year-old claimed that after receiving the news, she was forced to postpone her and her wife Julia Lemigova’s plans to adopt a child. She even made a list of things she wanted to accomplish before she passed away.
Navratilova admitted that the dual diagnoses had terrified her but insisted that “as far as they know, I’m cancer-free” in an interview that will air on Morgan’s TalkTV program tomorrow.
She added that she only has two more weeks of radiation treatment radiotherapy on her breast and that after this ‘I should be good to go’.

Navratilova admitted during an emotional interview that she worried she wouldn’t live to see the following Christmas.
The tennis pro, who amassed 59 major titles over the course of a career covering four decades, revealed at the beginning of the year that she had been diagnosed with cancer, setting off a wave of support.
Despite having earlier defeated breast cancer in 2010, she expressed concern that if it returned in 2023, she might not live to see Christmas.
During the WTA Finals in Fort Worth in November, doctors noticed an enlarged lymph node in Navratilova’s neck. Subsequent studies revealed she had breast and throat cancer.
After being diagnosed at the beginning of last December, she said: ‘[I’m thinking] I will see this Christmas but maybe not the next one.’
Fortunately, doctors informed Navratilova her cancer was ‘extremely treatable’, the Sun reports.
She said during the treatment, which took place while she wore a specially fitted mask, she was moved to tears as nurses played Elton John’s I’m Still Standing while she was in the hospital.
The singer had dedicated the song to the Czech-born athlete at a concert in Paris during the French Open in the 1980s.
Now a naturalised American, the tennis ace told Morgan she began writing her bucket list after the diagnosis.
Which kick-ass vehicle do I really want to drive if I only have a year to live? I know that sounds really shallow, but that’s what I was thinking.
The tennis commentator, however, will now have more time than she had anticipated because she was able to defeat the illness after a strenuous regimen of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and proton therapy.
Navratilova claims it was the hardest thing she has ever done in the interview, which will include footage of her ringing a bell at the hospital to indicate she was clear.
She did, however, add that after witnessing infants as young as six months old receiving cancer treatment in the same clinic, she urged herself to “suck it up”.
Navratilova said the treatment was the toughest thing she had ever done
