Katie Price stormed through to the next round of Celebrity MasterChef on Tuesday after impressing judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace with her chicken korma.

Katie’s pre-recorded appearance on the show came a day after it was revealed she was rushed to hospital in the early hours of Monday morning with an eye injury following an alleged attack.

The 43-year-old – who was competing against fellow celebrities Joe Swash, ex footballer Dion Dublin and actor Melissa Johns (who was booted from the competition) – told cameras: ‘I actually feel really happy. Look at me, I’m smiling over cooking. I’m loving it.’

The first challenge of the episode saw Katie once again leaving John and Gregg licking their lips, with the reality star knocking up an impressive plate of sweetcorn fritters, smashed avocado and poached egg.

She gushed: ‘All I ever hear is: ”you won’t be able to do that, you can’t do that, what, you’re going on MasterChef?” Yes me. And I’ve made it through the first stage.’

The mother-of-five also served up impressive chicken dumplings, revealing she loved the process of making them.

‘I’m actually really enjoying this because, believe it or not, I have three sewing machines at home. I made all the curtains in my house. I like this because it’s like art,’ Katie said.

The reality star also expressed her delight over the judge’s comments, adding: ‘They’re not judging me as a person, they’re judging me on my cooking. So it’s really nice to hear it. I’m not used to hearing it. Maybe cooking’s my next thing, who knows. She’s done everything else.’

The appearance aired hours after Katie was taken to hospital following an alleged assault at a home in Essex in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police were called after the incident occurred at a property in Essex, who called for paramedics at 1.30am.

In a statement to MailOnline, Essex police said: ‘We were called by colleagues in the ambulance service to reports of an assault in The Meadows, Little Canfield, shortly after 1.30am this morning, Monday 23 August.

‘We arrived and found a woman had sustained a facial injury which required hospital treatment. A man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody.’

However, the reality star has since revealed that she plans to return to work and present a prize at the the LGBT Awards on Friday – despite friends saying she is ‘too upset’ to go back to the home she was attacked in.

A man, 32, was released on bail after he was arrested for assault and coercive control over the alleged attack.

Price said she was attacked as she watched TV – forcing her to flee in terror to her son Harvey’s nearby home. Pictures, published in the Sun, show the mother-of-five with bruises on her face and cuts on her lips.

She said: ‘I’ve got a big bruise, my face is all puffy, and I went to hospital. I’m still all dazed. I’m devastated. I ran away after being punched — I ran to Harvey’s house nearby and have now done damage to my feet, which I previously injured.’

She said the alleged assault was ‘unprovoked’, adding: ‘I was just sitting there watching telly when the assault happened.’

A source said today: ‘Katie is so upset and far too emotional to go back to the home she was attacked in. She’s sent friends to pick up some stuff she needs from the Essex house so she’s comfortable.’

An Essex Police spokesman said on Tuesday: ‘A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault, theft and coercive and controlling behaviour has been released on bail until September 20.’
