Fahey calls out ‘performative’ protest outside New Jersey ICE facility
Live from the Newark ICE facility, Fox News’ Alexis McAdams captures the intensity of ongoing protests. The demonstrations, fueled by demands from New Jersey lawmakers and activists for the facility’s closure, have reached a fever pitch. Contrasting the protestors’ claims, former Acting ICE Director Jonathan Fahey cites Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data. He emphasizes the presence of numerous criminal illegal migrants in custody, some facing serious charges such as homicide and sex offenses, and criticizes Democrats for allegedly shielding these individuals.
Recently, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security made headlines by announcing the arrests of several illegal immigrants in New Jersey. Among the detained are individuals previously convicted of serious offenses, including manslaughter, sex crimes, and weapons charges.
These arrests have coincided with heightened tensions outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey. The protests have grown increasingly volatile as demonstrators voice concerns over the living conditions of illegal migrants within the facility.
Lauren Bis, acting assistant secretary of DHS, defended ICE’s actions amidst the controversy. “Despite the misleading narratives from sanctuary politicians and leftist agitators about Delaney Hall, the dedicated personnel of ICE continue their vital work of removing criminal illegal aliens from New Jersey,” she stated to the media. Bis highlighted that ICE has successfully deported dangerous individuals with criminal backgrounds, including those involved in voluntary manslaughter, sexual assault, burglary, fraud, and aggravated assault.

The situation escalated as federal immigration officers faced off against protesters outside Delaney Hall in Newark, New Jersey, on Thursday. The scene, captured by Mostafa Bassim from Anadolu, underscores the deep divisions and high stakes at play in the ongoing immigration debate.
“These sanctuary politicians need to stop peddling false smears about ICE detention facilities and start thanking ICE law enforcement officers for getting these thugs off New Jersey streets,” Bis continued. “We will not let violent rioters slow us down from making America safe again.”
