Mexican Government Battles ICE Deportations with Legal Action

0

According to a report by Reuters, the Mexican government is enlisting legal experts to obstruct the repatriation of Mexican migrants by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The news agency detailed:

Mexico has initiated the filing of criminal complaints in U.S. state courts concerning the deaths of its citizens while in U.S. immigration custody and during enforcement actions, revealed the foreign ministry on Tuesday.

In addition to this legal action, the Mexican government has issued cease-and-desist orders to U.S. detention facilities where Mexican nationals have deceased, the ministry confirmed in a formal statement.

“I don’t believe this situation is acceptable to anyone,” stated Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Monday. She emphasized that this is a concern for all of Mexico, framing the legal actions as a patriotic duty for the country.

Mexico’s government is also asking the United Nations to investigate U.S. deportation operations following the recent deaths of 17 Mexicans during the deportation process.

Mexico’s intervention in the U.S. immigration system comes after decades in which the huge population of Mexicans in the United States has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans via drug trafficking, drunk driving, murder, and other crimes. In January, for example, Mexican national Kenneth Moreno Guzman was arrested by police in Georgia for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl.

In 2025, roughly 70,000 Americans were killed by drug overdoses, mostly due to drugs smuggled from Mexico. Many others were crippled by the drugs, often while being ignored by local governments that are eager to welcome illegal migrants.

Roughly 37 million Hispanics of Mexican origin lived in the United States in 2021, according to a 2023 study by Pew Research Center. That vast population was quietly welcomed by the U.S. establishment because it spikes consumer sales, pushes up real estate prices, and forces down Americans’ wages.

The movement of Mexicans into the United States is also extremely profitable to Mexico. The migration northwards reduces pressure on the government to create jobs and fund welfare programs, and it also causes a huge flow of remittances back into Mexico. In 2025, the Mexican economy was boosted by $62 billion in remittances from the United States.

Yet the Mexican government is justifying the intervention following the death of 17 Mexican illegal migrants in U.S custody, according to Reuters.

The Mexican escalation comes after President Donald Trump stopped illegal migration and reduced drug inflows, pressured Mexico to suppress its drug cartels, and stopped plans to extend the U.S.-Canada free trade policy.

Man United Target France Midfielder, Leeds Seal £34M Deal for Bosnia Star, Arsenal Pursue Greece Forward Amid Trossard Departure

The much-anticipated transfer window is officially open, welcoming a flurry of activity until it closes on September 1. Clubs are eagerly preparing to secure significant additions for the upcoming season.

Here are the latest updates brought to you by Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

Hull in talks over Greek keeper

Hull City has initiated discussions with Olympiacos over their goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.

With nine appearances for the Greek national team under his belt, Tzolakis is set to challenge Jack Butland for the spot at Hull City.

Mason Greenwood in at Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce made a splash on social media, heralding Mason Greenwood’s arrival after finalizing a permanent transfer from Marseille valued at approximately £34 million.

Manchester United are due 40 per cent of the overall fee, although 20 per cent of that will go to Getafe, who took Greenwood on loan for the 2023-24 season.

As previously reported, that should work out around £10.2million.

 Palace ponder Norgaard move

Crystal Palace are among the clubs weighing up a move for Arsenal’s Christian Norgaard, who is keen to stay in London but has interest from Saudi too.

United among clubs circling Roma’s Kone

Manchester United are among a number of clubs who have checked on Roma midfielder Manu Kone.

The 25-year-old has been at the World Cup with France and his stock is rising with Roma looking to cash in.

Atletico Madrid and Arsenal have spoken to his representatives but are looking at other options too.

United want more energy in their midfield and that will be key to their next addition as they assess targets.

Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle and potentially Liverpool are all looking at midfielders in a congested market.

Leeds close to £34m Tarik

Leeds have reached a provisional agreement on a £34m fee with Sassuolo for 23-year-old Bosnia international Tarik Muharemovic.

The Italian club had said earlier that talks were advancing for the centre back.

Juventus will receive 50percent of any fee so stand to receive £17m.

Arsenal still in for Alvarez

Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez remains an option for Arsenal.

The Argentina forward would prefer to join Barcelona if they can reach agreement with Atletico but that relationship remains strained.

Arsenal are monitoring developments in case the opportunity to sign the 26-year-old opens up. Atletico have dismissed offers of £100m.

Two suitors for Rangers’ Souttar

Leicester City and Sheffield United are showing interest in Rangers defender John Souttar.

The 29-year-old signed a new one-year deal at Rangers in February but did not travel to the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain, with Brazilian striker Danilo also staying at home.

Leeds want another keeper with Torino keen on Perri

Torino are pushing to sign Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri but need the Elland Road side to sign another keeper first.

Leeds have seen out-of-contract Illan Meslier join Arsenal and Karl Darlow join Manchester United.

They have handed a new deal to Alex Cairns but are continuing to look for a new No1. Talks have taken place with Parma for Zion Suzuki but other options are also being explored.

Leeds remain in talks with Sassuolo over centre back Tarik Muharemovic and Southampton over Shea Charles. But, again, they have alternatives.

Tielemans proud to join United

Manchester United’s midfield overhaul has moved on with the £35million signing of Youri Tielemans. The 29-year-old Belgian, who has joined from Aston Villa after his release clause was triggered, has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

Tielemans said: ‘It’s hard to describe just how proud I am to join Manchester United.

‘Signing for such a special club feels incredible, it is the culmination of years of dedication since I first fell in love with football.’

Arsenal ready for Tzolis bid after Trossard exit

Bruges are anticipating a bid from Arsenal for Christos Tzolis now that Leandro Trossard is confirmed as heading to Besiktas.

The Greece forward is keen on the move after seeing previous offers from the Premier League rejected, notably Crystal Palace.

The 24-year-old former Norwich winger also has interest from elsewhere but is set on Arsenal if they can agree a fee.

Aberdeen head Feeney interest

Aberdeen head a list of clubs interested in Carlisle defender Morgan Feeney, 27, the club’s captain and player of the year signed by former boss Mark Hughes who has one year left on his contract.

The club’s American owners, who sacked Hughes, are yet to offer Feeney new terms.

Leandro Trossard has joined Besiktas from Arsenal in a deal worth £17m.

The Belgian winger departs the Premier League champions in a deal worth an initial £15.3m plus £1.7m in add-ons.

Trossard played a crucial role for Mikel Arteta playing 174 times in three-and-a-half years, scoring 36 goals.

During Arsenal’s title-winning campaign last term, Trossard scored eight goals and registered 11 assists in 50 matches in all competitions.

Arsenal have been talking to Bruges over a deal for Christos Tzolis among other targets.

Leeds United are bringing in Cardiff City head analyst Matthew Jenkins who had been at the club for eight years.

City contemplating Bouaddi move

Manchester City are continuing to assess the figures being demanded by Lille for midfield prodigy Ayyoub Bouaddi.

As Daily Mail Sport have reported, City have retained a long-standing interest in the teenage Morocco international and want to bring in another midfielder alongside Elliot Anderson with long-term concerns over Rodri, who has still to agree a new contract.

Nico Gonzalez could be sold while Tijjani Reijnders, who had tentative interest from Atletico Madrid, could also go.

Bouaddi’s performances have seen his value rise above £60m which was considered his asking price before the World Cup.

Lille ideally wanted him to stay another season on loan as part of the deal but negotiations are open.

Meanwhile, Stade Brestois are among clubs showing interest in City defender Juma Bah who was on loan at Nice last season.

The 20-year-old, 6ft 5ins centre back could be among the players figuring in a showcase game at City today.

Darlow deal done

Manchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

The Wales international joins on a free transfer after his contract expired at Leeds.

Darlow finished last season as Leeds’ number one and kept five clean sheets. They wanted to re-sign him while Everton and Tottenham also held talks.

Bristol City hope for Ballard compromise

Bristol City are working to find a compromise with Leyton Orient over a fee for striker Dom Ballard.

The 21-year-old, who scored 23 goals in League One last season, is set on a move to Ashton Gate but so far they have been unable to agree a deal with Orient who have been pushing for over £5million.

Southampton are also due sell-on percentage for the striker who, at the 2026 EFL Awards, was named in the League One Team of the Season, Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season.

Villa defender heading for Spain loan spell

Aston Villa right back Andres Garcia is closing on a loan move to Getafe.

The 23-year-old joined Villa from Levante 18 months ago in a £6million deal but made only 8 appearances last season.

Villa are looking to juggle a number of transfers this window to meet UEFA financial requirements.

They still want to strengthen after agreeing to sign Johan Manzambi from Freiburg but are losing Youri Tielemans to Manchester United for £36m and Lucas Digne to Paris St Germain for £8.5m.

There is also interest around Ollie Watkins and while they don’t want to lose Morgan Rogers, offers from Arsenal are anticipated.

Sunderland land Thomas Menuier

Sunderland are signing Thomas Meunier on a two year contract.

The Belgium international, who was part of their World Cup squad, is a free agent after leaving Lille and has been talking to Valencia.

Hull City had also opened discussions with the 34-year-old right back but he has travelled to the North East this morning to complete a medical and sign for Sunderland.

Roma pressing for Garnacho

Roma are continuing to press for Chelsea misfit Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentine has been granted permission to seek a new club and is not in Xabi Alonso’s plans.

Chelsea want £40m and a permanent sale as Manchester United also retain a sell-on clause.

Roma enquired a week ago and their latest proposal is for an initial loan with an option to buy for around £30m. It would become an obligation if certain conditions are met and the loan would carry a fee of £4.3m.

Chelsea maintain they want a guaranteed sale.

Chelsea are also looking to move on Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile and Filip Jorgensen. Mamadou Sarr could leave on loan amid Premier League interest.

Vuskovic leaves Spurs for Brighton

Luka Vuskovic has completed his move from Tottenham to Brighton for £46million plus £4m achievable add-ons.

Spurs have secured a 20 per cent sell-on clause for the Croatia international and buy-back matching rights.

Vuskovic and his representatives made clear his desire to play regular first team football in the season ahead and did not want another loan.

The 19-year-old centre half has had three separate loans since Spurs struck a deal to sign him from Hajduk Split for £12m.

Last season at Hamburg was a huge success but Roberto De Zerbi was unable to offer the guarantee of regular first team football at Spurs.

De Zerbi has reinforced in central defence with Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, who they signed from Brighton for £52m.

So, Spurs will bank a huge profit on a young player who never made a competitive appearance for them and whose wages they have never paid.

Only Harry Kane and Kyle Walker have been sold by Spurs for bigger fees in the last 10 years.

Man City host showcase game for fringe stars

Manchester City host a showcase game today for the benefit of their fringe players.

Around 90 clubs are expected to be represented in the stands after they were invited to attend the game and view potential loan or permanent buy targets.

City players such as Preston North End target Divin Mubama, Matty Warhurst, Jaden Heskey, Claudio Echeverri, Spike Brits and Charlie Gray are all due to play a part as clubs from the UK and abroad come to take a close look.

A number of guest players from other clubs within City Football Group who are looking to move on have also been invited to take part. Stredair Appuah and Kris Lund from Palermo plus Amar Fatah and Elijah Odede from Troyes.

City have also scheduled a further showcase game against Salford City on August 4.

Efforts Intensify to Rescue Nearly 50 Bottlenose Dolphins in Historic Cape Cod Stranding

0

For the second consecutive day, rescue teams were engaged in efforts to save nearly 50 bottlenose dolphins, marking the largest recorded stranding event of this species in Massachusetts. This information comes from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).

The IFAW disclosed that around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, word spread about 28 to 30 bottlenose dolphins being stranded at First Encounter Beach located in Eastham, Massachusetts.

According to a statement released by the group on Monday, “The dolphins managed to refloat with the rising tide, but sadly, an additional five to six of the animals perished before our team reached them.”

Over the past two days, IFAW has been involved in rescuing close to 50 bottlenose dolphins along Massachusetts’ coastline, as they reported on Tuesday. (International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW),)

By Tuesday, IFAW indicated that initially four bottlenose dolphins had been found stranded. The situation escalated to 19 dolphins scattered across three locations on a nine-mile stretch of shore.

“These animals are in decent condition. Two have been fitted with satellite tags so we can now monitor their movements and even see if the separated groups come back together,” said Brian Sharp, program director for Marine Mammal Rescue at IFAW.

“We are in a rising tide now, and all 19 animals have refloated,” Sharp added. “We’ll continue to monitor and coax them out of Wellfleet Bay to give them the best chance at survival. The next low tide will be around 6 p.m. this evening.”

Bottlenose dolphins are typically an offshore species, the group said, though IFAW has observed an increasing trend of these animals occurring closer to Cape Cod’s shores in recent years.

Similar to a person involved in a car accident, dolphins can become injured and exhausted during a stranding and should never be pushed or dragged back into the water, IFAW warned.

US Refuelers Remain at Ben Gurion Airport, Impacting Travel Plans for 50,000 Passengers

0

The United States has chosen to station its fleet of refueling aircraft at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport amidst the ongoing conflict in Iran. This decision has sparked objections from Israel, as it threatens to disrupt 50,000 flight reservations during the nation’s bustling summer travel period.

Reports indicate that over 30 U.S. refuelers are currently parked at the airport, far exceeding its capacity of 20 such aircraft. This overcrowding is causing difficulties for accommodating civilian flights.

In response, Israeli Transportation Minister Miri Regev has expressed strong disapproval of the prolonged presence of these planes at the airport, demanding their removal to ensure space for travelers.

“There’s a substantial number of tickets purchased by Israelis eager to fly and relish their summer vacations,” Regev stated. “We pledged to facilitate commercial flights and have no intention of canceling any tickets due to the presence of American refueling aircraft.”

Regev further explained, “I have directed that we will not permit U.S. refueling tankers beyond the agreed-upon limit of 20 planes to land at Ben Gurion Airport. Any additional aircraft will need to utilize Israeli Air Force bases.”

The US Defense Department did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

The US had a fleet of about 75 refuelers and cargo planes that were deployed to the airport as part of the military buildup prior to the start of the war on Feb. 28.

While the US began moving out some of the planes earlier this month, the renewed fighting with Iran has left more than 30 refuelers at the airport just as Israel’s peak summer travel season begins, the Time of Israel reported.

The military aircraft’s presence has kept the Ben Gurion Airport from returning to normal commercial flight operations, with local airlines warning that the increasing operational costs would see the expenses passed on to the travelers.

The issue comes as the war with Iran reignited last week, with Washington and Tehran trading blows in recent days over the Strait of Hormuz.

The US fired its latest wave of airstrikes on Tuesday, targeting military sites across Iran aimed at degrading the Islamic republic’s ability to attack shipping vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Lamine Yamal Shines as Spain Defeats France to Secure World Cup Final Spot

0

Above the pitch, the enormous stadium screen illuminated the image of young Lamine Yamal, distinctively wearing a hairband embroidered with the number 08304 — a nod to the postcode of his humble Catalonian neighborhood. This working-class area is where Yamal, the promising teenager, calls home.

Amidst his teammates lined up for the national anthems, Yamal seemed as though he had just emerged directly from his neighborhood, exuding an air of raw authenticity. Yet, it was this very young player who propelled his nation towards their World Cup ambitions on Tuesday night, drawing the decisive foul that secured the lead. It was the lead they needed, from which Spain never looked back.

In a strategic masterclass, Spain commanded the midfield and effectively stifled France’s formidable forwards, allowing them scarcely any opportunity to retaliate. The dominating Spanish midfield formed a critical barrier, cutting off France’s offensive supply line and making their comeback seem nearly impossible.

The performance was nothing short of spectacular, sending a clear message to Argentina and England. This is what awaits one of them in the New Jersey final on Sunday. Many would argue that this is Spain’s finest team to date — a force with prowess and finesse that could well redefine their World Cup legacy.

Spain earned a 2-0 victory over favourites France to progress to their second World Cup final

With a 2-0 triumph over the favored French team, Spain secured their position in what will be their second World Cup final, proving once again that they are a formidable force on the international stage.

Mikel Oyarzabal held his nerve from the spot to give Spain a deserved lead in the first half

Royal Rodri

He has been a superb presence at this World Cup and here was a performance befitting the Ballon d’Or he won in 2024. Rodri was the architect of this 2-0 win, though the Man of the Match Award – or ‘Superior Player’ as they’re calling it, again went to the wrong individual, in Pedro Porro.

Spain knew they were up against a superior attacking force than the one they possessed. But in Rodri, they had a force field who could close their midfield down.

When France began brightly, with Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise briefly threatening, Rodri simply cut off the central passing lanes. France were chasing down blind alleys. They were slowly suffocated.

Denied the space he tends to thrive in, Olise swapped wings with Dembele in an attempt to find some. On a most wretched night for France, space simply never came.

There will be much talk of Yamal before Sunday’s final but Rodri is the one who Spain’s opponents must devise a plan for.

Mbappe chasing shadows

Mbappe was oozing self-confidence once again as he walked out here last night in France’s stylish pinstripe shirt.

It’s all well and good having a front four like theirs but it doesn’t work when there is no-one to get the ball up to them. Mbappe was unable to land a blow because France were unable to land him opportunities. There were a few fleeting chances but he could not capitalise.

When Dembele sent a gorgeous diagonal ball across 30 yards to Mbappe in the first half, Spaniards swarmed around him. When Jules Kounde fizzed a low ball into Spain’s six-yard box, Mbappe was a yard or more behind it.

His barrelling run into the box just beyond the hour for a shot which sailed narrowly wide was a rare moment of jeopardy for an untroubled Spanish back four. He was booked before the end.

Spain had known they were against a superior attacking side but Rodri was key to shutting France down

Spain had known they were against a superior attacking side but Rodri was key to shutting France down

Barcola gamble fails

Didier Deschamps had selected the PSG wide man Bradley Barcola instead of Desire Doue on the left because he is a more dynamic and attacking player, seen as more likely to bring danger to Spain. But Barcola could not set this pace alight because he couldn’t operate well in such tight spaces. A cut inside brought a shot which sailed high and wide.

Doue replaced him in the hope of something better and the France contingent in this stadium cheered at the sight of him. But nothing changed. Until that half chance Barcola carved open, France’s XG had been 0.01

Olmo and Oyarzabal collectivism

It was a brutal schooling for a France side who were played off the park and Spain’s so-called lesser lights were key. Mikel Oyarzabal, the Real Sociedad player, who coolly converted the penalty Yamal won, has scored 30 goals in 60 appearances for his country – yet would admit that he is just a solid pro. He was given his Sociedad debut by David Moyes.

There were some wonderful moments from Barca’s Dani Olmo, the Spain No 10, too. An intricate one-two between Porro and Olmo, with Olmo at its apex, brought Spain’s second.

No France defender had tracked the Porro as he doubled the lead. Olmo’s backheel to Yamal in tight space almost put Spain 2-0 up before half-time, too. Lamal’s cross found Fabian Ruiz, who put ball wide.

Lethal Lamal

Yamal was lurking, just out of Lucas Digne’s peripheral vision, as the defender struggled to get a ball under control and though his kick at him was accidental, it was a foul, nonetheless. A justifiable penalty.

Though he didn’t dominate the game and has had a relatively quiet tournament, he was always present, putting the fear of God into the France rearguard. Tracing a path along the dead ball after collecting possession from a blocked free kick. Getting in behind on a Porro pass early in the second half.

Any excuses for France?

It didn’t help their belief that they lost William Saliba early on. The Arsenal defender seemed to jar his back as he fell awkwardly. Nor that the player who had initially looked like France’s own sentry, Adrien Rabiot, received an early yellow card which, with Yamal to police, left created too much of a risk for him to reappear for the second half. But this defeat will take some stomaching for a French nation who expected far more on Bastille Day.

So where now for France?

They look into an uncertain future – defeated in three successive tournament semi-finals by a golden Spanish generation and looking to a new manager to help them find the way. Deschamps is stepping down. Zinedine Zidane is the overwhelming favourite to replace him.

It’s not the first time France will go home with lots of bouquets but no trophy. Michel Platini’s great team of 1982 and 1986 lost back-to-back semis, too. The new manager has Olise and Doue as the new wave of talent. Hugo Etikike and Warren Zaire-Emery may also develop as stars for Les Bleus. But there is little consolation here. Spain look like they might dominate for some time to come.

The defeat will see Didier Deschamps' era as France manager end in the third placed play-off

Lessons for England or Argentina?

Simply that it will take a monumental performance and perhaps a slice or two of luck in New Jersey to defeat Luis del Fuente’s side, which looks a more complete one than the World Cup winning squad of 2010.

They are excellent in possession and out of it. They have conceded just one goal at this tournament and were defensively strong when France came back at them near the end.

Rodri is such a force – shielding the defence and cutting off midfield supply lines. And though Spain lack the world class central striker of other nations, Yamal is a clear and present danger at all times.

Florida Fall Forecast: Expect Cooler Temperatures This Year, Says Old Farmer’s Almanac

It’s going to be a warm and dry fall, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac

If you’re expecting to shut off the AC and break out your cozy sweaters once September rolls around, you might want to hold off. The Old Farmer’s Almanac’s forecast for fall 2026 predicts warmer and drier conditions than usual across most of the country. This means the anticipated season of sweaters, scarves, and lattes might take a bit longer to arrive this year.

Subscribe to the BestReviews newsletter for exclusive deals and expert recommendations delivered straight to your inbox.

However, there are a few fortunate regions that might see an exception. Areas in the eastern United States and along the Pacific Coast are expected to enjoy cooler than average temperatures this fall. The temperature variations are generally slight — typically only one or two degrees above or below normal. Yet, in those warmer areas, that’s just enough to postpone the crisp air usually heralding the start of fall.

The more consistent trend expected across the U.S. is a dry fall. Most of the country is forecast to receive less autumn rain than usual, so at least you can likely keep your umbrellas and rain boots packed away with your sweaters this year.

Here’s what to expect for each region of the U.S., according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

Northeast

New England should be cooler and wetter than usual. Temperatures are expected to remain below normal through September and October, while rainfall should exceed typical levels

Atlantic Corridor

The Atlantic Corridor is expected to cool down, but not have much rain. September and October temperatures should be below normal, and precipitation is also forecast to fall short of average.

Appalachians

The Appalachians should experience a cooler and drier fall. September and October may run approximately 2 degrees below normal. Rainfall is also expected to remain below normal.

Southeast

In the Southeast, both September and October are expected to average about 1 degree below normal. More noticeable is how dry it’s expected to be; parts of the region are forecast to receive as much as 4 inches less rain than a typical autumn.

Florida

Florida should average cooler than normal during September and October. As for rainfall, northern Florida is expected to be drier than usual, while southern Florida may receive above-average precipitation.

Lower Lakes

The Lower Lakes region should get a more recognizable fall — September is forecast to be cooler than usual before returning to average in October, while rainfall is expected to be average in September before slowing down in October.

Ohio Valley

Cooler temperatures and less rainfall than average are expected in the Ohio Valley. The region could receive around 3 inches less rain than usual this fall.

Deep South

The Deep South will have a warm autumn, but it may take some time to heat up — September is expected to be cooler than normal before temperatures rise above average in October.

Upper Midwest

People in the Upper Midwest shouldn’t be fooled by a cool September; temperatures are expected to be warmer than average in October. September should have slightly more rain than usual before a wet October.

Heartland

The northern Heartland should experience a warmer than normal fall, while the southern part of the region is expected to be slightly cooler. The whole region should have a dry start to autumn before rainfall increases in October.

Texas and Oklahoma

Texas and Oklahoma are among the major exceptions to the dry fall most of the nation is expected to experience, with rainfall above average — potentially reaching about 4 inches above normal in northern Texas and Oklahoma. Northern Texas and Oklahoma should be cooler than normal, while southern Texas is expected to stay warmer.

High Plains

Summer is sticking around in the High Plains, where both September and October are forecast to run warmer than normal, while precipitation remains below average.

Intermountain

Norwegian Royal Marius Borg Høiby Under House Arrest Awaiting Appeal Decision

0

Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, will be placed under house arrest following his rape conviction last month.

On July 14, Høiby will move from custody to a residence near the royal estate at Skaugum. There, he will be subject to electronic monitoring over the next four weeks while appealing his four-year sentence, as reported by Norwegian newspaper VG.

Although Høiby does not hold an official royal title in Norway, he is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stepson to Crown Prince Haakon.

Guri Varpe, the royal family’s spokesperson, expressed to VG that the Crown Prince and Princess are committed to supporting Høiby through this challenging period.

Efforts to reach the Royal House of Norway for further comments by Oxygen were not immediately successful.

What Was Marius Borg Høiby Convicted of?

Høiby was sentenced to four years in prison in June after being found guilty on numerous charges, including two counts of rape and abusing an ex-girlfriend, according to the BBC.

He was acquitted of two additional counts of rape following the six-week trial, which earned national attention in Norway as prosecutors laid out their case with messages, images and video taken from Høiby’s phone, NPR reported.

The charges stemmed from allegations made by four women that raped them as they were either asleep or incapacitated between 2018 and 2024, per the outlet.

Høiby has denied the sexual assault allegations.

Høiby’s Defense Attorney Asked for His Release, Citing Mette-Marit’s Health

After the verdict, Høiby’s defense attorney Petar Sekulic asked the court to release the 29-year-old on house arrest, citing Mette-Marit’s recent health problems, according to the outlet.

The Royal House of Norway announced June 17 that the Crown Princess had undergone a successful lung transplant after struggling with a form of pulmonary fibrosis.

She was released from the hospital July 14, according to an official statement, and is expected to spend the next year recovering from the transplant.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has stood by me throughout this long journey,” Mette Merit said in a statement, “my family, the doctors, surgeons, nurses, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals, as well as all those who make an invaluable contribution to the Norwegian health service every day.”

(The Hill) – Authorities have detained a man from Mississippi after an incident outside the U.S. Capitol, according to a statement from the U.S. Capitol Police on Monday. The man was reportedly seen with a handgun on his lap at the Capitol’s North Barricade.

The individual in question, 67-year-old Wendell J. Royster from Columbia, Mississippi, has been charged with carrying a pistol without a license and lacking a permit for the firearm, the USCP confirmed.

At around 11:22 a.m., Royster drove a rented gray Ford Bronco to the North Barricade on Constitution Avenue before asking nearby officers for directions to the Supreme Court building. The officer saw the gun in the man’s lap, USCP said, and ordered him to raise his hands.

Several USCP officers surrounded the Ford before officers arrested Royster. Police said the arrest took place within two minutes of Royster pulling up to the barricade, as a large police presence could be seen in the area around the barricade.

A dog was found chained inside the Ford. Officers gave the dog water before animal control officers arrived and took custody of it.

Investigators believe the incident was not connected to Congress, USCP said. The North Barricade was closed off to allow investigators to search the area following the arrest.

The incident took place after lawmakers returned to Capitol Hill after a weeklong recess, as well as the sudden death of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) from an aortic dissection on Saturday night.

Essential Hulk Insights for Understanding Spider-Man: Brand New Day

0

A new day brings a familiar force—Marvel’s green behemoth is set to smash back into theaters this summer. The Incredible Hulk, portrayed by Mark Ruffalo, joins “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” on the big screen. Before donning your best purple attire and venturing to the cinema, make sure to watch the video above for essential insights on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s largest hero—both in size and presence.

The Hulk burst into the comic scene in 1962, thanks to the brilliant minds of Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. Introduced in “The Incredible Hulk” #1, Bruce Banner starts as a genius scientist with repressed emotions. An unexpected gamma bomb exposure transforms him into a mighty, rage-driven creature. With transformations sparked by his emotional state, Banner and the Hulk echo the classic tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, reimagined for the atomic age. Since then, the Hulk has become a cultural powerhouse, featuring extensively in comic books, a well-loved 1977 TV series, and a 2003 film by Oscar winner Ang Lee.

As one of the pioneering characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Hulk made his first MCU appearance in 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk,” where Edward Norton played the titular role. Known for his unpredictable nature, he remains an integral, albeit chaotic, part of the Avengers ensemble. With “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” the Hulk marks his twelfth outing in this blockbuster series, and there’s no sign of him slowing down his smashing escapades.

The Hulk keeps transforming

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” picks up with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) following the dramatic events of 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” As he tries to restore balance after nearly fracturing the multiverse, Spider-Man returns to his roots of humble heroism. Yet, life’s challenges persist—his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) is deceased, and his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) no longer remembers him, leaving him more isolated than ever. If battling foes like the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), Scorpion (Michael Mando), and a cadre of Hand ninjas weren’t enough, Spider-Man faces a mysterious transformation of his powers that threatens his very life.

Enter Bruce Banner. The “Brand New Day” trailer reintroduces the mild-mannered scientist, now teaching at a university and wearing a power-suppressing gauntlet. Peter seeks out Banner for help about his mutating DNA, but he gets more than he bargained for when Banner changes back into his rampaging alter-ego.

“Brand New Day” is just the latest transformation for the Hulk, who has undergone some amazing alterations in his nearly 20 years in the MCU. He has been a scientist, an Avenger, a gladiator on an alien world, a “Smart” amalgamation of Hulk and Banner, and even a cosmically enhanced “Infinity Hulk.” What other transformations are in store for the good doctor? With a brand-new day dawning, watch the video above for an incredible Hulk explainer.
