More than 20 people may still be missing or unaccounted for after a powerful flash flood swept through a remote section of the Grand Canyon, triggering an urgent appeal for information from the National Park Service.

Grand Canyon National Park reported that, as of Sunday morning, 62 people had been evacuated from Bright Angel Canyon and the Phantom Ranch area, where severe flooding struck on Aug. 29.

Park officials are now asking the public to help identify and account for more than 20 people who may have been in the impacted area when the flood hit.

“Additional evacuations are planned today,” the park said, cautioning that more thunderstorms and heavy rainfall could develop Sunday and Monday, increasing the risk of additional flash flooding, debris flows and rockfall.

The flooding struck Bright Angel Canyon and the Phantom Ranch area on Aug. 29, according to the National Park Service, adding that nearly all footbridges spanning Bright Angel Creek were destroyed.

Park staff and the Arizona Department of Public Safety are continuing evacuation and response operations as they work to account for people who may have been caught in the affected corridor.

Officials are asking anyone with information about hikers or backpackers who were in the inner canyon along Bright Angel Creek that day to contact investigators.

The request also applies to anyone with a campground reservation in the affected area.

The National Park Service said it is trying to identify people who may have been traveling on the North Kaibab Trail between the North Kaibab Trailhead and Phantom Ranch, staying at Bright Angel Campground or traveling through an area known as “the Box” north of Phantom Ranch.

The agency did not release details about the people who may be missing or unaccounted for, including whether they were hikers, campers or park visitors with reservations in the area.

Law enforcement agencies across the United States are facing calls to increase patrols and security visibility near Jewish schools, synagogues and community institutions as the Jewish High Holy Days approach on Sept. 11 — a date that also marks the 25th anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

“Every Jewish child deserves access to a safe place to learn, and every individual deserves to worship in peace,” said Sydney Altfield, CEO of Teach Coalition, a New York-based advocacy organization active in seven states.

Altfield warned that Jewish day schools and places of worship have faced growing threats, saying they have “increasingly become targets.”

The renewed security push comes amid troubling national data on antisemitism. Antisemitic incidents made up nearly 63% of all religion-based hate crimes in the U.S. in 2025, marking the third-highest total of anti-Jewish hate crimes ever documented in federal crime statistics, according to an analysis by the Anti-Defamation League.

In New York City, hate crimes rose 9.4% through July compared with the same period in 2025, NYPD figures showed. More than half of those reported incidents targeted Jewish New Yorkers, even as the city recorded historically low levels of murders and shootings.

Some Jewish leaders blamed Mayor Zohran Mamdani, an outspoken critic of Israel who has accused the Jewish nation of committing a “genocide” during the war in Gaza and also called for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The mayor has said he has zero tolerance for Jew hatred.

The alarming rise of antisemitism and anti-Jewish hate crimes across America has the Jewish community on edge ahead of the Jewish High Holy Days.

The High Holy Days are traditionally a time when the Jewish community faces heightened security concerns — and that fear is exacerbated this year as the beginning of Rosh Hashanah marks the 25th anniversary of the tragic terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The Jewish holidays include Rosh Hashanah on Sept. 11, Yom Kippur on Sept. 20 and Sukkot on Sept. 25.

The New York City metropolitan region has the largest Jewish population outside of Israel.

Teach Coalition, a project of the Orthodox Union, operates in seven states: New York, New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, Maryland, California and Nevada.

Typically, the NYPD increases its patrols around Jewish institutions during the High Holy Days, as it did earlier this year during the Jewish holiday of Purim.

“The NYPD will have a security briefing as we get closer to the holidays,” an NYPD rep told The Post on Sunday. “And yes, in prior years, we have increased patrols during this time.”

Gov. Kathy Hochul, while addressing the Central Synagogue in Manhattan on Friday, also pledged to boost security for synagogues and Jewish communities across the state ahead of the holy days.

A bigoted madman recently unleashed a horrific, antisemitic assault at the place of worship.

“If you need more money, if you need more protection, I will send the New York State Police here,” Hochul said, the Jerusalem Post reported. “We will fortify this place not only now but certainly ahead of the approaching High Holidays.”

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, during her own remarks to Central Synagogue on Aug. 21, promised that Jewish institutions across the Big Apple will “not be left to protect themselves” against rising antisemitism.

Nine Americans have been safely evacuated from flood-ravaged Nepal, while roughly 85 U.S. citizens are still unaccounted for, the State Department said as search and rescue operations continue.

The disaster struck the Nepal-Tibet border region on Wednesday, when catastrophic flooding swept through the area, killing at least 750 people and leaving more than 3,000 others missing.

“This morning, I can say we now have approximately 85 Americans who are unaccounted for,” State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott told ABC News’ “This Week.”

“We’ve also now seen nine Americans safely evacuated. We are currently unaware of any U.S. citizen deaths at this time,” Pigott said.

The situation remains urgent, with rescue crews battling difficult conditions as Nepalese officials issued fresh flood warnings Sunday after water levels climbed in the Bhotekoshi River, according to the Associated Press.

According to Xinhua, a Chinese news agency cited by the outlet, China’s Ministry of Water Resources said a newly formed lake has been slowly draining but still poses a risk because it contains an estimated 1.4 million cubic meters of water. 

As officials closely monitor water levels, the State Department has increased assistance to US embassies in Kathmandu and Beijing, Pigott said.

‘We have activated $3.6 million in emergency humanitarian assistance that includes up to three months of emergency food for up to 10,000 flood-affected households,’ the spokesman said.

The department has also been working with officials in Nepal to assist with search efforts.

‘Our priority is the safety and security of the American people. As you mentioned, the remoteness of this location makes getting reliable information difficult. But our dedication remains,’ Pigott said.

‘Our embassies in Beijing and Kathmandu are working 24/7 to communicate and coordinate with local officials, trying to get reliable information,’ he added.

The historic flooding has destroyed multiple towns and already claimed hundreds of lives, with the death toll expected to rise as search efforts continue.

The devastating sequence of events began just after 8.30am local time on the day of the floods, when the earth started shaking along the Nepal-China border.

The US Geological Survey initially detected the shaking as a magnitude 5.2 earthquake but later determined that a massive section of glacier had collapsed.

The United States Geological Survey described the seismic event as an extremely powerful ‘glacial collapse and debris flow’ that caused catastrophic impacts downstream.

As the ice mass plummeted, it was pulverized into a fast-flowing mix of freezing water, debris and rocks that swept down the mountainside into the Lende Khola River.

Bishal Nath Upreti, a geologist and academic at Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, called the disaster a ‘tsunami from the sky’ that has ‘completely wiped out’ communities.

Terrifying footage of the flash flooding showed enormous plumes of dirt and fast-flowing water hurtling through villages as onlookers ran for their lives.

‘If any American is in the region, please register for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. That is so essential, so we know how to contact you,’ Pigott added.

Anjana Raja and her husband, Pattabiraman Venkatesan, are among the few known American survivors who were in the area during the floods.

Raja recalled the harrowing moments when she and Venkatesan came face-to-face with the landslide near the Chinese border, revealing that they decided to flee their bus and escape on foot.

‘I grabbed him by the collar, and I said, “Run, we need to go right now,”‘ she told ABC News.

‘I didn’t even give him time to act. I just said, “Leave the bus right away or we’re going to die.”‘

They rushed up the mountain with their tour group and reached higher ground. The couple said everyone on the bus miraculously survived.

New Yorkers Ramesh Sharma, 65, and his wife Neelam, 64, are also missing after traveling to the region for a Mount Kailash pilgrimage.

Their daughter, Dr. Radhika Sharma, said the journey was her parents’ first vacation alone since retiring last year.

‘My parents have been wanting to do this for a while,’ she previously told the Daily Mail.

Americans traveling with the Isha Foundation, including San Francisco tech worker Prabhath Sajeepa, are also missing after they were last seen near the Gyirong immigration port area.

Terrifying video footage showed the immigration building along the border being engulfed by the massive landslide.

Call it the “summer of George” — Long Island edition.

Michael Nicosia has suddenly become one of the region’s most sought-after single men, thanks to a real-life twist on George Costanza’s famously backward “Seinfeld” dating pitch: “I’m unemployed, and I live with my parents.”

“I’m not joking when I say over 100 women wanted to go on a date in July alone,” Nicosia, 31, told The Post.

“And it’s all thanks to the worst year I ever had.”

The former Goldman Sachs employee saw his dating prospects surge like a hot stock after the popular social media dating account Hot and Single shared a summer video of him, fit and confident, running his fingers through his hair while wearing a fitted white T-shirt.

“Not so many seemed to care about the living or job situation,” said Nicosia, being candid about moving back in with Mom and Dad in Hicksville after losing his finance job.

“It feels like I’m living out George’s wildest dreams,” quipped the aberrant Romeo, a devout fan of the show about nothing who has Georgie beaten hands down in the looks department.

Unemployment benefits

The ladies, instead, were solely magnetized by Nicosia’s dashing looks and charming personality mixing adventure and faith.

“This sounds like the man of my dreams,” wrote a woman, one of about 450 who commented on the post, which was liked more than 2,000 times.

Another bluntly wrote, “Mike is hot.”

A mom even recommended him for her 28-year-old daughter in the comments.

The well-known app Cuffed Dating followed up by doing an interview with Nicosia about what makes him tick and asking him more questions about finding the one. 

“Then the DMs started – and they still haven’t stopped,” he told The Post.

It’s all been a stark contrast to 2025, when the handsome Nicosia thought he had everything in his life planned out.

He was living and thriving in Dallas, where he had moved in 2021 for a white-collar investor-relations role.

Nicosia had always kept in fabulous shape, routinely pumping iron, while dating his true love, whom he was headed toward moving in with, marrying and settling down with permanently in the south.

Then the nose-dive began — literally. 

Nicosia plummeted down a flight of stairs while carrying groceries and broke his foot and injured his ankle in multiple places, leaving him bound to a boot that sidelined him from the gym for months. 

It happened not long after his beloved Australian Shepherd, Rocky, passed. 

Then his girlfriend broke up with him to seek greener pastures; and, to top it all off, Goldman laid him off.

“My life turned into the biblical Book of Job,” Nicosia said.

The terrible chain of events left him totally lonesome in the Lone Star State by April — and then, to rub it in, his car broke down without hope of repair a month later.

“I really didn’t have anyone I was close with who didn’t live half a country away,” he said.

“And the job hunt was going less than ideal.” 

Soon enough, the inevitable happened. Nicosia had to take the drive of shame back home to the island — in a rental — where his mom, Luba, dad, Mike, and brother, Daniel, all welcomed him back with open arms in late June.

Still, they hated seeing their beloved son have to start all over on such awful terms.

“My dad was even willing to get me an apartment in the city just to make it easier to meet women,” Nicosia said.

“Going through all of that alone was something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.”

The nadir of his adult life became a sudden, shocking zenith when Nicosia eventually put himself out there and messaged the social page to see if it would promote him.

“They got back to me instantaneously; they were so excited to put me up as soon as possible,” he said.

Women from across the country have since reached out, trying to get a slice of the hot commodity who does food-content creation under his alias “Mikey Meatball Eats.”

“I live in CA unfortunately – you never know though,” wrote a fan of the man.

Another added, “I’m ready for you to turn me into a foodie.”

He was getting 100 weekly messages at his July high and still enjoys a steady three or four new ladies sliding into his messages per week as September approaches.

“You want to talk about a confidence booster,” Nicosia laughed.

Nicosia said he’s been asked out around 150 times total now — he has gone on a super selective five dates so far — and is even in the process of casting for a few dating shows, which he must keep mum about at the moment.

He’s also getting tons of job interviews, as everything is on the up and up.

“I won’t be unemployed forever, and it looks like I’ll be meeting the right one sooner rather than later,” Nicosia said.

“I may have lost the life I thought I was going to have, but now I get to build a new one.”

When Dolly Parton disclosed that she had hidden an unreleased song beneath Dollywood — with instructions that it not be heard until her 100th birthday — even Kelly Clarkson looked stunned.

During their 2022 conversation, Clarkson listened in disbelief as the country music legend described the mystery recording, sealed inside a time capsule at her Tennessee theme-park resort, and admitted that she considered it a “really good” song.

It was classic Dolly Parton: theatrical, sentimental and sprinkled with just enough showbiz sparkle to keep fans guessing for decades. The promise of unheard Dolly Parton music instantly became part of the lore surrounding Dollywood and the singer’s carefully guarded legacy.

The track, titled My Place in History, is not the only piece of music Parton has kept out of public view. Over the years, the prolific songwriter has built an enormous catalog that extends far beyond her best-known hits, from Jolene to I Will Always Love You.

Behind the rhinestones and arena-ready choruses, Parton has spent decades writing songs that few people have ever heard, preserving them in a private archive she has long protected with remarkable care.

‘The songs are hidden very safely in The Vault – that is what she called her secret storage place for her music,’ an insider told the Daily Mail, with estimations about the true number varying wildly. ‘They are protected and very secure. There could be as many as 200 songs, no one really knows, because Dolly was very secretive.’ 

The unheard ditties have ‘lyrics and melodies,’ the insider said, adding that ‘some are demo’ed, but they have not been produced yet.’

A second insider echoed that account, saying Parton had planned for her unreleased music to be heard after her death. 

‘She was working on posthumous music for after she was gone,’ the source explained. ‘It’s a music catalogue that will live on forever.’ 

It is perhaps no surprise that The Vault is so full. For Parton, songwriting was not simply a profession, but a daily ritual – one she maintained throughout a career spanning more than six decades.

‘Dolly would write music every day,’ the first source said. ‘She told friends that after she had her morning coffee, she would ‘pray and write’ – that is what she always said. She loved writing music. It made her happy because she was so creative.’

The insider added that Parton had a ‘large music studio’ at her Tennessee compound, where she could work privately and turn her latest ideas into songs.

Yet inspiration did not appear to depend on a studio. Across her extraordinary career, Parton wrote wherever the mood struck – and repeatedly proved that her instincts were golden.

In the hours after her death, three of her best-known songs surged back up the streaming charts, as fans around the world returned to the music that made her a country legend.

Jolene climbed to No. 1 on Apple’s US songs chart, while the classic also reached the top of Spotify’s chart. 9 to 5 and Islands in the Stream followed closely behind.

Her own version of I Will Always Love You, Whitney Houston’s blockbuster recording of the song, and Coat of Many Colors were among the tracks dominating the Top 50.

On August 26, the day after her death, Parton’s music was streamed 19.8 million times on Spotify – a staggering 1,300 per cent increase from the previous day. 

The figures were a striking reminder of the scale of Parton’s musical legacy.

In her lifetime, she amassed 25 No. 1 hits, 27 gold and platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America, 11 No. 1 albums and 10 Grammy Awards.

But alongside the music that made her a star, Parton had quietly made plans for the songs she kept hidden away in The Vault. 

‘Dolly was really smart. She laid everything out for her family, and there are careful instructions with the music,’ the insider said. ‘Nothing has been left to chance. That means she hired people to look after her music.’

The second source added: ‘She’s made plans for that music to be released after her death.’

Those arrangements are believed to be far more private than the plan surrounding Parton’s time-capsule song – a project she first wrote about in her 2020 memoir, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics.

Parton revealed that, in 2015, she and her team buried a chestnut box beneath the Dollywood DreamMore Resort and Spa. Inside were physical copies of My Place in History, on both cassette and CD – along with the corresponding players.

The box is not meant to be opened until January 19, 2046, when Parton would have marked her 100th birthday, shortly after Dollywood’s 30th anniversary celebrations in 2045.

A placard inside the box reads: ‘The chestnut ‘Dream Box’ is a repository of Dolly’s wishes and memories for the future. It will not be opened until Dolly’s birthday on January 19, 2046.

‘The Dream Box itself is tribute to her original mentor and uncle, Bill Owens, who has worked tirelessly to preserve the American Chestnut tree. As a final tribute, Dolly placed a song which she has written to be released as her last. Entitled ‘My Place In History,’ only Dolly will know its melody and content until 2046.’

When she appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2022, Parton acknowledged that she might not live to see the song finally released.

‘They weren’t expecting me to be there at all,’ she said. ‘I’m just saying, I might be there. Who knows? But the point is, there is a song – I figure it’ll probably disintegrate, probably nobody ever hears it.

‘That’s what bothers me, to think that it’s gonna be a song that nobody’s ever gonna hear if it rots in there before they open it.’

Then, with her trademark wit, she added: ‘I don’t know whose damn idea that was.’

Even as she joked about the prospect of the song never seeing daylight, Parton was surrounded by a close-knit team she relied on to protect the rest of her work.

‘Dolly had a solid group of people around her,’ the first source said. ‘She has trusted them for a very long time. She has no bad apples in her circle.’

The insider named Parton’s publicist, Marcel Pariseau, as one of her closest friends, saying he moved to Nashville for the country icon. The pair were said to be particularly close. 

That circle includes her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus – another songwriter who understands the value of protecting a creative legacy.

Indeed, despite telling the world about the time-capsule track, Parton remained guarded about the music in The Vault. 

As the first insider put it: ‘She has been secretive about it for the benefit of her family.’

That family now stands to inherit not only her hidden music, but the vast business empire Parton built beyond it, including songwriting royalties, record sales, books, film and television, investments and Dollywood

Her net worth has frequently been estimated at between $450 million and $650 million, although details of her will and estate plan have not been made public.

Parton’s husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, died in March 2025 at the age of 82.

She is survived by six siblings and leaves behind a vast philanthropic legacy through the Dollywood Foundation and her Imagination Library.

The recordings in The Vault could become another valuable – and deeply personal – part of that inheritance.

‘It’s arguably the most important music catalogue in country music history,’ the second insider said.

For now, fans can return to the songs they already know by heart. But her extraordinary music will soon take center stage once more in Dolly: A True Original Musical.

Her longtime producing partner Sam Haskell told the Daily Mail: ‘Dolly’s musical based on her life will open on Broadway January 19, 2027 – on what would have been her 81st birthday.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Parton for comment. 

A 22-year-old woman died and five others were injured after gunfire broke out early Sunday at a rave in northern Switzerland, authorities said, prompting police to mount a major search for the people behind the attack.

The violence unfolded in the Schachen district of Aarau, the capital of Switzerland’s Aargau canton, where the “Aarau Rave VOL. 7” was taking place at a horse-racing venue, Swiss broadcaster SRF reported.

Aargau cantonal police said the young woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Four men and one other woman, ranging in age from 24 to 27, were transported to hospitals with wounds described as varying from minor to serious.

Investigators said all six people who were shot live in Switzerland.

Police spokesman Pascal Wenzel told SRF that authorities were alerted to the shooting shortly after 2:30 a.m. The event had been scheduled to end at 2 a.m., according to SRF, which cited information from the organizers’ website.

Authorities said the perpetrator or perpetrators remained unidentified and that possible motives and the circumstances surrounding the shooting were still unclear.

A large area surrounding the horse-racing track, swimming pool and nearby sports field was cordoned off as police searched the area. Authorities also increased their presence elsewhere in Aarau as a precaution and urged members of the public to stay away.

The response included police officers, firefighters and several emergency medical services, according to SRF. The broadcaster reported that a cantonal disaster-response unit, the Argus police special unit and a Swiss military Super Puma helicopter were also involved.

Police in neighboring Germany were also assisting with the search as part of routine cross-border cooperation, a spokesman in Freiburg told the German news agency dpa, according to SRF.

Police appealed to witnesses to provide investigators with videos or photographs from the event and established an information line for relatives and eyewitnesses.

Swiss DJ Tekibo, who performed at the rave, later wrote on Instagram that what happened was “absolutely heartbreaking” and said raves should be places of freedom and safety. He also said he had lost an “important friend,” though SRF reported that it was not clear whom he was referring to.

Police said their investigation and search operation remained ongoing.

Justin Rose took the fastest possible route to the cup Sunday at East Lake, delivering a highlight-reel moment in the final round of the Tour Championship.

The former U.S. Open champion authored one of the tournament’s signature shots on the 208-yard par-3 ninth, flushing a 6-iron straight at the pin and watching it vanish for a hole-in-one.

Rose’s tee shot came off the club at 141 mph and never required a putter. Once the ball dropped, the 45-year-old celebrated with fist pumps, a leap and hugs with his caddie as the East Lake crowd roared.

The ace lifted Rose from 6 under to 8 under for the tournament, injecting fresh energy into a final round that opened with Viktor Hovland holding a one-shot advantage over Ryan Gerard.

Rose had already positioned himself to make a move earlier in the week. He arrived at the Tour Championship as a 50/1 long-shot option highlighted and surged into contention Friday with a bogey-free 65.

That round featured five birdies and left Rose at 7 under through 36 holes, three shots behind the lead at the time. He followed with a 69 Saturday before beginning Sunday at 8 under.

The ace added another memorable moment to a career that has included the 2013 U.S. Open, Olympic gold, a stint as world No. 1 and the 2018 FedEx Cup. The Post recently revisited Rose’s remarkable career and his breakout as a 17-year-old amateur at the 1998 Open Championship.

He may have entered Sunday needing plenty of help to capture another FedEx Cup.

For one hole, at least, Rose needed none at all.
