FBI’s Operation New Dawn Leads to 305 Arrests and the Recovery of 24 Missing Children in Chicago

0

The FBI, led by Director Kash Patel, has announced a groundbreaking operation in the Chicago area that culminated in the arrest of more than 300 individuals over a span of two months.

In an exclusive statement to News Media, Patel said, “Operation New Dawn embodies a comprehensive government strategy initiated under President Trump’s guidance to aggressively fight violent crimes and child-related offenses in America’s major cities.”

This extensive crackdown in Chicago involved the collaboration of 11 federal agencies, resulting in 305 arrests and the rescue of 24 children, many of whom had been identified as kidnapped or missing. The operation also leveled charges including robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and child exploitation against various suspects.

Patel emphasized, “The success of this operation, along with future endeavors like Summer Heat 2.0, underscores the message that the FBI, in conjunction with our partners and under the leadership of Attorney General Todd Blanche, is committed to dismantling criminal networks nationwide, regardless of their location.”

According to a statement from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, the operation enlisted agencies including the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Aside from the robbers, kidnappers and drug traffickers Patel detailed, other suspects swept up in the operation included those involved in gun trafficking, gun offenses and immigration violations, according to the U.S. attorney’s statement.

The statement described the operation as “badgeless,” noting that the numerous federal agencies collaborated “under the banner of the United States flag as opposed to the shield of any agency.”

U.S. Attorney Andrew S. Boutros said the operation and the collaboration it induced represented a new era of law enforcement in America.

“It is my view that to combat violence, federal law enforcement must move at the speed of violence,” Boutros said in a statement. “The remarkable success of Operation New Dawn resoundingly proves that point. Chicago’s federal anti-violence apparatus united under one banner — the United States flag and not the shield, badge, banner or logo of any agency — to make their presence felt on the streets of Chicago and make it known that they are a force to be reckoned with in the battle against violence.”

ATF Special Agent in Charge in Chicago Christopher Amon concurred.

“Law enforcement has always been, and always will be, a team sport,” Amon said in a statement. “The success of Operation New Dawn reflects the leadership of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the trust, commitment and collaboration among our Chicago federal law enforcement partners. Together, we made a meaningful impact by removing shooters and other violent offenders from our streets, making Chicago safer for all.”

The cooperation enabled the agencies to sweep up criminals like Felipe Dejesus Gomez Ramirez, who HSI noted is a convicted murderer and illegal alien.

New Dawn operators also arrested David Collins and Tyrone Thomas, who authorities say are members of Chicago’s Traveling Vice Lords criminal gang who were deeply involved in drug trafficking. Both were federally charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl.

“Operation New Dawn demonstrates the power of coordinated law enforcement efforts to address the interconnected threats of violent crime and drug trafficking,” Todd C. Smith, special agent in charge of the DEA Chicago Field Division said in a statement.

“Through the Homeland Security Task Force and in partnership with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies combined intelligence, resources and expertise to target individuals and criminal networks that threaten public safety. Reducing violent crime remains one of DEA’s top strategic priorities, and the significant drug seizures resulting from this operation underscore the close relationship between violence and drug trafficking activity. By working together to disrupt criminal organizations, remove dangerous drugs from our communities and hold offenders accountable, we are enhancing public safety while advancing our commitment to a Fentanyl Free America.”

The operation, which began in earnest May 1, has so far resulted in 179 criminal defendants being charged in federal court in 140 newly-filed criminal cases.

Twenty-four children, many of whom were kidnapped, were located and safely returned home, according to the statement.

Fashion Fiascos: What Not to Wear at Taylor and Travis’ Opulent Wedding Bash

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are in the spotlight this weekend as their much-anticipated celebration unfolds. Among the 1,000 attendees gathered for the festivities on Friday night, a few have unfortunately made some notable fashion missteps.

Madison Square Garden in New York City has become a magnet for celebrities, all flocking to the biggest event of the weekend as the grand celebration kicks off.

Both in their 36th year, Swift and her NFL star fiancé have gone all out for this event, with tales of a castle being constructed at the venue. There’s also chatter that Swift has purchased every available calla lily in New York City to add a touch of elegance.

The iconic Madison Square Garden was illuminated with pink neon signs proclaiming ‘JUST&T MARRIED!’ after Taylor Swift’s publicist dispatched an email confirming that the pop star and Travis Kelce exchanged vows at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Permits filed with the city indicate that this grand affair might continue well into the early morning hours, with activities potentially lasting until 4 a.m.

Many famous faces were already seen at Thursday’s celebration, including Selena Gomez, Jack Antonoff, and NFL star George Kittle, as they joined the stars for an intimate gathering at the Infosys Theater at MSG.

And on Friday, many of the guests returned, plus almost 900 others, to celebrate the couple.

While some guests pulled out their best outfits for the wedding of the year, others totally missed the mark, with some truly bizarre outfits and outrageous looks.

Here, the Daily Mail has rounded up the biggest fashion mistakes from the couple’s large Friday celebration.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s MSG Wedding Officiated by Surprising A-List Celebrity

0

Adam Sandler recently embraced one of his most exciting roles yet: officiating a wedding. The beloved actor stepped up to lead the celebrity-filled nuptials of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, which took place last Friday at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City, Swift’s publicist confirmed to Page Six.

The decision to have Sandler officiate appears to have been influenced by a recent collaboration with Kelce. The dynamic duo shared the screen in the upcoming film “Happy Gilmore 2,” set for release in 2025. This cinematic connection seems to have strengthened their real-life friendship, prompting the newlyweds to choose Sandler for the important role in their ceremony.

The latest on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding

In “Happy Gilmore 2,” Kelce, aged 36, delivers a memorable cameo performance. Directed by Kyle Newacheck, the scene sees Kelce sporting nothing but an apron as he is humorously covered in honey by Bad Bunny’s character, Oscar, a restaurant worker under Sandler’s character, Happy Gilmore. This charming and comedic sequence helped set the stage for Kelce and Sandler’s close rapport, making the wedding collaboration all the more meaningful.

Kelce, 36, made a cameo in the Kyle Newacheck-directed movie, as he wore only an apron while being smothered in honey by Bad Bunny, who portrayed Oscar, a restaurant employee working under Sandler’s character, Happy Gilmore.

In the scene, Sandler’s character instructed Oscar to go to his “happy place,” which led the latter to envision himself approaching Kelce’s character with honey in preparation to be eaten by a bear.

Sandler was front and center to celebrate Swift and Kelce’s wedding, alongside the hitmaker’s brother and man of honor, Austin, and Kelce’s brother and best man, Jason.

The “Love Story” singer and the NFL star, both 36, also tied the knot in front of 1,000 people, including Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid.

Leading up to their special day, there was plenty of speculation over where — and when — Swift and Kelce would say “I do.”

Insiders previously told Page Six that the two were planning to host their wedding at Madison Square Garden over the July 3rd weekend. Other reports claimed that guests who received an invite were required to sign an NDA before receiving any details about the time or location.

The newlyweds were initially believed to be eyeing Rhode Island — where Swift owns a large estate next door to a hotel — for the nuptials. A source later told Page Six in November, though, that the two were thinking about scrapping that idea and going “all out” at a totally different venue that could accommodate more attendees.

However, hours before their rehearsal dinner on July 3, multiple sources confirmed to Page Six that the Hollywood couple were “already legally married.”

Swift and Kelce broke the internet when they announced their engagement in August 2025 via social media after two years of dating.

The Kansas City Chiefs player popped the question in a flower-filled garden at his Kansas City home after they filmed an episode of his “New Heights” podcast.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” the couple’s joint Instagram post read, which featured pictures from the romantic engagement.

Swift then gushed about the engagement and her then-fiancé two months later when she appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

“He’s just my favorite person I’ve ever met — no offense to everyone else,” the “Life of a Showgirl” singer said. “But the fact that this is the person that I get to hang out with every day forever is just, like, that’s the whole thing.”

That same month, Swift shared on SiriusXM’s “The Morning Mash Up” that while it’s “hard to pinpoint” exactly when she fell in love with Kelce, the moment happened pretty early on.

“He’s one of those people where as soon as you meet him, you know he’s the best,” the pop star explained. “There’s no one else on the planet that’s ever been even remotely similar to him.”

Kelce echoed those sentiments in his August 2025 cover story interview for GQ, telling the outlet that once they fell in love, their romance “just took the f–k off.”

“We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are,” he explained. “We share all those values.”

“Whenever I’m with her, it feels like we’re just regular people,” he added.

The tight end broke his silence on the proposal during a September episode of his “New Heights” podcast.

“It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with,” the athlete told listeners while expressing gratitude for the well-wishes he’s received.

He raved about how “cool” it feels to “[call] someone your fiancée,” which he did at a University of Nebraska vs. University of Cincinnati game around that time.

“It was the first time introducing Taylor as my fiancée to a few of my teammates,” Kelce recalled.

After the couple shared their engagement news publicly, the NFL star’s dad, Ed Kelce, revealed the Grammy winner had been eagerly waiting for her man to pop the question.

“I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event,” he told Cleveland’s ABC News 5 last August.

“And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”

The father of three had previously credited Swift for his youngest son’s happiness while speaking to People that same month.

“There’s no question about it,” Ed said, adding, “They’re two people obviously very much in love.”

The three-time Super Bowl champ and the “Bad Blood” singer went public with their relationship in September 2023 after Swift cheered the athlete on at his home game against the Chicago Bears.

Since that sporting event, the pair have supported each other’s careers, both in public and in private behind the scenes, and have not shied away from packing on the PDA at various events.

Dramatic US Coast Guard Rescue: Infant, Child Among 8 Saved from Capsized Vessel Near Fort Myers Beach

Eight people, including a baby and a young child, owe their lives to the quick response of the U.S. Coast Guard crew from Fort Myers Beach, who acted swiftly after a boat overturned Friday afternoon near Florida’s Sanibel Causeway.

The crew hurried to the scene of the capsized boat, carrying out a well-orchestrated and swift rescue that ensured every individual was safely pulled from the water.

Authorities have applauded the operation’s triumph, attributing the success to the team’s “relentless” commitment to training and effective collaboration.

The U.S. Coast Guard shared photos of the boat nearly completely under water following the swift rescue.

A group of guests were even seen removing their tuxedo jackets as they were searched by security.

Experts revealed that the celebration for the couple, both 36, costs over $15 million, and taxpayers footed over $1 million to help cover the bill.

Ahead of their celebration, Swift and Kelce donated $26 million to 20 charities. The unusually specific number has sparked speculation that it matches the actual cost of their wedding celebrations.

The couple, who have kept the event ultra-secret, required their guests and MSG staff to sign non-disclosure agreements.

The venue has reportedly ‘parted ways’ with workers who violated the agreements, according to Bloomberg reporter Myles Miller.

Everyone entering the venue, including the NYPD officers working the event, have had to store their phones before going inside.

City officials worked alongside the couple with in pulling off the soiree, which has caused street closures. The Empire State Building will also be lit up blue tonight as Swift’s ‘something blue.’

An insider told The New York Times it cost the couple between $1.2 million and $1.6 million to book out Madison Square Garden for two days.

Insurance would cost over $10,000, Erica Maurer, a partner at EMRG Media, told the newspaper.

Lighting, sound, catering, flowers, decorations and labor could cost between $10 million and $12 million, The Times suggested, while adding that their estimate was a very conservative one.

Permit fees for the two-day affair would likely cost at least $132,000 based on the city’s permitting office rates.

It would also cost taxpayers over $1 million to have hundreds of police officers providing security and patrolling MSG.

Photos taken on Friday afternoon showed scores of New York City cops in their uniforms drenched with sweat as they stood guard close to the Garden in 100F heat.

Outsiders were given a few rare glimpses of how the pop singer and the Chiefs tight end transformed the venue into the wedding celebration of their wildest dreams.

Pink, orange and yellow roses were photographed woven into foliage at the top of an escalator on Thursday night.

The venue was lit up with lights and adorned with dusty pink curtains.

It’s been said that Swift built a custom ‘castle’ inside MSG and has supposedly bought every available calla lily in the city.

Lake County Flood Fiasco: Developer Blamed for Homeowner’s Mudslide Misery

A resident of Sorrento is grappling with frequent flooding on her property, an issue she’s never faced until now. She contacted News 6 via the Neighborhood Network, worried that recent developments in the locality might be altering the natural drainage of stormwater.

Consistent rain along Elkridge Road in Sorrento brings a deluge of water onto this homeowner’s land, wreaking havoc on her garden. The problems have already forced her to shell out thousands of dollars to fix the damage.

Resident Betty Jones describes water gushing from the road, depositing mud and causing significant erosion in her yard. “There’s actual clay deposited here from the road base, continually washed away with every rain,” she expressed. The relentless water has carved deep channels across her property.

The inundation has even extended to the backyard, according to Jones. In a bid to minimize the water’s impact, her family has tried placing bricks under their fence.

Footage from Tuesday captures water surging into the property, leaving a trail of muddy disorder. The situation is particularly disheartening for Jones, as she and her husband have spent a large sum readying their home for sale, only to witness all their efforts being washed away by the erosion.

“It’s very hard to try to show a house when you’ve got water coming down the road and flooding the property,” Jones said.

The couple says they’ve lived at the home for 17 years without issues, but problems started earlier this year after nearby development began. Lake County data shows the home sits on the edge of a flood zone, and Jones worries additional development could make the situation worse.

“With just a little bit of rain, we’re getting this much water. I know it’ll be like whitewater rapids,” she said.

Jones said she has contacted the developer, the city of Tavares and other agencies seeking help. News 6 also provided her with information on how to request a flood assessment from Lake County.

Deandre Ayton’s Missed Opportunity to Shine with the Lakers

0

The Los Angeles Lakers have just made a significant move to eliminate a major concern.

The issue stood at seven feet tall and tipped the scales at 250 pounds, serving as a notable distraction in the team’s locker room.

Goodbye, Deandre Ayton. The Lakers traded him to the Washington Wizards on Friday, receiving Jaden Hardy and two future second-round choices in 2031 and 2032 in return.

Ayton joined the Lakers as a free agent, aiming to revive a career marred by previous stints in Phoenix and Portland that had left his reputation severely damaged.

Once the celebrated top pick of the 2018 NBA Draft, chosen by the Phoenix Suns ahead of stars like Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ayton’s career instead saw a decline. His first seven years in the league were plagued with perceptions of inconsistency and immaturity from both franchises he played for, effectively branding him with a stigma he struggled to shake off.

When Ayton signed with the Lakers in free agency last summer, he had a golden opportunity to start over.
No one in the NBA gets more attention than the 17-time NBA champions, especially when a guy named LeBron James is on the roster.

This was his chance to rewrite his narrative.

Careers are defined by the Lakers. One great stint in Los Angeles can wash away all of the dirt of the past. Look at how Marcus Smart redefined himself this season after his career was in a freefall. Look at how Luke Kennard’s stock skyrocketed after a great first-round playoff series with the purple and gold.

Ayton was well aware of the power of the Lakers.

“I feel like I’ve just been absent for a little bit in this league,” Ayton said during his introductory press conference with the Lakers last July. “…I want to really just show the world and prove to everybody that I am a winner.”

The problem?

The same issues reared their ugly head in Los Angeles as the ones that inspired Phoenix to trade him in 2023 and Portland to buy out his contract for nothing in return last summer.

Ayton is talented.

But his effort flickers like the light of a candle.

He’s prickly with the media. He has outbursts in the locker room. He’s wildly unpredictable. Sometimes he’ll lightheartedly do somersaults around reporters. Sometimes he’ll snap at them.

At first, Ayton struggled to embrace his role with the Lakers. He wanted to be a star but the team needed him to star in his role. There was a palpable power struggle.

He responded to the tension in the worst way possible.

He’d often disengage on the court.

Ironically, never was that more clear than after he shined in a 21-point, 13-rebound performance against the Magic on Feb. 24. As Ayton walked toward the shower after talking to the media, he let it be known that he felt pigeonholed.

“They’re trying to make me Clint Capela,” he said, referring to the Houston Rockets’ backup center. “I’m not no Clint Capela.”

Instead of celebrating the moment, he got in his own way. Instead of proving himself, he shot himself in the foot.

The problem with Ayton is sometimes he plays with force. Other times, he goes through the motions. The difference is stark. It’s obvious to the naked eye. To both high-paid scouts and fans alike.

While a shooter’s slumps can be forgiven, Ayton’s issues were correlated to effort. To something he could control. To something that was inexcusable to let ebb and flow when he was getting paid millions of dollars and representing the Lakers.

Effort is the bare minimum. It’s a requisite. It’s a non-negotiable.

Ayton let it come and go like a feral cat.

He locked in during the Lakers’ 16-2 run last spring. During that period, he was consistent. He was a difference-maker.

“Felt like I picked up my energy and my focus,” Ayton said March 12. “And, you know, I finally caught up with the team. That’s about it.”

But the playoffs were his ultimate test.

And he failed.

The Lakers desperately needed Ayton to be at his best, especially considering Luke Doncic was sidelined the entire postseason because of a hamstring injury and Austin Reaves missed the first four games of the Lakers’ first-round series against the Rockets because of a strained oblique.

But Ayton was inconsistent.

At times he shined, like when he had a 19-point and 10-rebound performance against the Rockets in Game 4 followed by an 18-point and 17-rebound performance in Game 5.

But when the Lakers needed him the most, he had a disappearing act.

Against the Thunder and their monstrous frontcourt, he shriveled.

Ayton averaged just 7.2 points and 7.7 rebounds as the Lakers were swept out of the playoffs. His defense was lackluster. He was a liability on the court.

For the Lakers, enough was enough.

It was time for Ayton to go.

He had his chance to turn things around. He had the opportunity to rehabilitate his name. All he had to do was try. All he had to do was pour out his heart onto the court when they needed him most. All his other antics could be forgiven.

But instead of digging his heels into the ground, he collapsed onto his knees.

Now he has been shipped to Washington, the equivalent of basketball Siberia considering the franchise has missed the playoffs seven of the last eight seasons.

And all he has to blame is himself.

Ayton had his chance.

And he blew it.
