A 34-year-old woman reported suffering severe injuries during a robbery after attending a World Cup viewing event in Southern California last week. Adding to her distress, she claimed that bystanders did not intervene to assist her.
Jennifer Silva recounted to KTLA that the terrifying attack took place on June 18 just outside a Hooters located in downtown Long Beach.
According to Silva, after she finished watching an intense soccer match at the restaurant, she was suddenly attacked by a thief.
“The last thing I recall was someone grabbing my purse while saying, ‘I’m going to need that,’” Silva detailed.
The assailant relentlessly beat her in an attempt to seize her possessions, resulting in a broken jaw, a dislocated wrist, and a fractured finger.
The suspect ended up taking her property before fleeing the scene.
When the woman, who also lost teeth and suffered cuts and bruises in the altercation, realized what had just happened, she said she noticed bystanders not doing a thing to make sure she was all right.
“There were crowds around me and nobody called 911,” Silva said. “Nobody helped me. I got attacked violently and I don’t know why.”
Silva was eventually spotted by police around 30 minutes after the incident and transported to a nearby hospital.
She wrote in a GoFundMe set up to pay for her medical bills that she’ll now need reconstructive jaw surgery and multiple dental procedures to fix her injuries.
“It’s a long road of recovery,” she said. “A long road of, ‘You need to get this done, you need to get that done.’ I know I’m going to get through this, but it’s taking a lot of strength to keep it together.”
The Long Beach Police Department is investigating the matter, but no suspects have been identified, according to KTLA.
An individual, claiming insider knowledge about Nancy Guthrie’s alleged kidnapping, now asserts possession of video proof alongside information about two perpetrators involved. This claim was reported by TMZ’s founder, Harvey Levin, who received the tip-off.
Levin has disclosed this new email as part of a sequence of communications he has received since the start of the case. The source of these messages alleges awareness of the fate of the 84-year-old mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie.
Law enforcement officials have yet to verify the authenticity of the initial two notes, as well as the emails to TMZ. Opinions within the investigation’s circle remain divided on their validity.
While some members of the investigative team dismiss the ransom notes as fabrications, others remain cautious, hesitant to form conclusions given that Guthrie is still missing, sources shared with Fox News and News Media.

“I have a phone stashed in a secure location guaranteeing both the information it stores and the safety of the phone,” the sender wrote, according to Levin. “What it contains is my definition of delivering them on a silver platter, a short video of the main guy with Nancy the day that was probably her last, pictures of both involved, names and addresses and age.”
In a video posted to X Friday, Levin challenged the sender to prove it.

“If you’ve got something, send it,” he said, urging the sender to prove he or she isn’t a fraudster.
The emailer has sought various sums of up to $100,000 for the information they claim to be able to provide and is now asking for a single Bitcoin, worth about $60,000 Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, there is more than $1 million available from Guthrie’s daughter, “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, for her mother’s return. And 88-Crime, Tucson’s Crime Stoppers affiliate, is offering $102,500 for information leading to an arrest in the case, which can be claimed anonymously.
Levin said he sent the email to the FBI, which did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
TMZ claims to have authenticated the email, with Levin explaining that the message included a Bitcoin account that had not been publicly revealed but had been included in earlier messages.
The sender also appears to be following news updates on the case — questioning recent reports that he or she may be a female and reacting to viral reports about a false alarm last week.
“I am not the idiot who recently called in a tip about her burial site in Mexico,” the sender allegedly wrote.
Anyone with information on Guthrie’s case is asked to dial 1-800-CALL-FBI. There is a combined reward of more than $1.2 million for information that cracks the case.
Tips can be provided anonymously to Tucson’s Crime Stoppers affiliate, 88-Crime, at 1-520-882-7463.
Hoping to enhance your chest strength post-50? These four exercises could transform your workout routine.
>
Many assume that more hours in the gym lead to a better-toned upper body, especially as you grow older. However, it’s the quality of your exercise regimen, not the duration, that truly builds strength in your chest after turning 50.
As we age, retaining muscle mass becomes increasingly crucial. From around 50 onwards, people commonly experience a rapid decline in muscle mass and strength, often referred to as sarcopenia. The silver lining? Studies indicate that strength training is highly effective in protecting muscle tissue, maintaining physical capabilities, and promoting healthy aging.
If toning your chest is your goal, there’s no need for extended gym sessions or elaborate machinery. Highly effective chest workouts can be performed at home using simple equipment like dumbbells, resistance bands, or even a sturdy countertop.
We spoke with James Bickerstaff, CPT, a personal trainer at OriGym, who outlined four excellent exercises for efficiently sculpting your chest beyond the results of prolonged gym visits. “These exercises are fantastic for not just your chest, but also your shoulders and triceps,” notes Bickerstaff. “Moreover, they are gentler on the joints, which makes them much more accessible over time.”
Incline Push-ups
Incline push-ups are one of the most effective upper-body exercises for adults over 50 because they train multiple muscle groups at once while reducing the load compared to floor push-ups.
How to do it:
Place your hands on a sturdy bench, countertop, or elevated surface.
Position your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
Walk your feet backwards until your body forms a straight line.
Engage your core and keep your shoulders down.
Slowly bend your elbows to lower your chest toward the surface.
Keep your body in a straight line from head to toe.
Lower under control until your chest is close to the surface.
Push through your palms to return to the starting position.
Perform two to three sets of 8 to 15 reps, resting for 60 to 90 seconds between sets.
Dumbbell Chest Press
Unlike machines that help guide your movement path, this classic chest-building exercise challenges your chest’s stabilizing muscles. “Dumbbells help to improve muscle balance while effectively targeting your chest to build strength,” says Bickerstaff.
How to do it:
Lie on a bench or the floor holding a dumbbell in each hand.
Choose a weight that you can move with control.
Position the dumbbells at chest level.
Keep your feet firmly planted on the floor.
Engage your core and keep your back straight.
Press the weights up until your arms are almost straight.
Pause for one to two seconds at the top of the movement.
Lower the weights slowly back to chest level.
Complete two to three sets of 8 to 12 reps. Rest for 60 to 90 seconds between sets.
5 Morning Exercises That Restore Hamstring Strength Faster Than Lunges After 60
Chest Squeeze Press
The chest squeeze press places continuous tension on your pectoral muscles without requiring heavy weight. “Keeping consistent tension on your chest throughout this movement encourages strong muscle activation without requiring you to lift heavy weights,” says Bickerstaff.
How to do it:
Lie on a bench or the floor holding two dumbbells.
Press the dumbbells together directly above your chest.
Squeeze the dumbbells together during the movement.
Slowly lower the weights toward your chest.
Keep your elbows under control as you lower the dumbbells.
Stop when the weights reach chest level.
Press the weights back up.
Continue squeezing the dumbbells together throughout the movement.
Aim for two to three sets of 10 to 15 reps, resting for 45 to 60 seconds between sets.
Resistance Band Chest Fly
Resistance bands provide constant tension throughout the entire range of motion, making them an excellent tool for toning your chest. They also place less stress on your joints than most free-weight exercises while allowing for a greater range of motion.
How to do it:
Anchor a resistance band behind you at chest height.
Hold one handle in each hand.
Step forward slightly to create tension in the band.
Stand tall with your chest lifted.
Maintain a slight bend in your elbows.
Bring your hands together in front of your chest.
Squeeze your chest muscles for one to two seconds at the midpoint.
Slowly return to the starting position.
Perform two to three sets of 10 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between sets.
A notorious criminal who attempted to evade justice by faking his death and fleeing to the United Kingdom has passed away while serving his prison sentence. Nicholas Rossi, a 38-year-old convicted rapist, died in a Utah hospital on Thursday night. The Utah Department of Corrections confirmed that his death resulted from ‘complications of an existing medical condition after choosing to discontinue medical treatment.’
Details about the specific medical condition that contributed to Rossi’s death remain unclear, and it is presently unknown whether his decision to halt treatment was an attempt at suicide. Authorities have ensured that his family has been informed of his passing.
Rossi’s criminal deeds date back to 2008, when he was found guilty of sexually assaulting two women in northern Utah. Originally from Rhode Island, his attempts to escape justice by fleeing across international borders culminated last year in a ten-year prison sentence.
Utah Department of Corrections added that Rossi’s family had been notified of his death.
The Rhode Island native was last year sentenced to ten years behind bars for raping two women in northern Utah in 2008.
Rossi, whose legal name is Nicholas Alahverdian, was first identified as the women’s attacker in 2018 when a decade-old DNA rape kit was investigated.
But in February 2020, just months after he was charged in one of the cases, an obituary was published online claiming he had died of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Rossi is seen here appearing at a trial in Salt Lake City in August of 2025
The Utah Department of Corrections said that Rossi died after he ‘chose to remove himself from the case that was being provided’
In fact, he had been living in Bristol, in the south-west of England, for some time before then – but the exact date he fled the States for Britain is unclear.
He eventually ended up in Scotland, where he lived under the radar until December 2021, when he was arrested at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
While in hospital receiving treatment for Covid, staff had recognized his distinctive tattoos and reported him to authorities.
Rossi said the wrong man had been caught, claiming he was an Irish orphan called Arthur Knight who was being framed.
But in November 2022, it was concluded he was in fact Nicholas Rossi and after a long court battle, he was eventually extradited to the US in January last year.
Rossi became known for his theatrical court appearances, where he would attempt an English accent while denying his true identity.
It eventually emerged he had used more than a dozen aliases over the years to escape detection.
This included the name Arthur Brown, which he went by when he married British woman Miranda Knight.
He is thought to have met Knight in Bristol before the couple later moved to Glasgow.

One of his accusers, when taking the stand last August, said Rossi left a ‘trail of fear, pain and destruction’ in his wake.
‘This is not a plea for vengeance. This is a plea for safety and accountability, for recognition of the damage that will never fully heal,’ she said.
Both women attended Rossi sentencing hearing last November, they took the stand to describe how fearful they had been of him.
‘Nicholas Rossi is not a man who simply made a mistake,’ his Utah County victim told his sentencing hearing.
‘His behavior reflects a deeper pattern, one of manipulation, deceit and narcissism.’
She spoke about her lasting anxiety and trust issues since the assault and declared that Rossi is beyond rehabilitation and should be permanently removed from society.
‘I knew I needed to come forward not for myself but for the sheer number of victims he has hurt and the threat he continues to pose to society,’ she said. ‘Justice in this case is not just about punishing one act, it’s about stopping a pattern.’
Rossi is seen here while speaking at a press conference after a hearing inside Edinburgh Sheriff and Justice of the Peace Court alongside his wife Miranda
The Salt Lake victim described the assault as life-devastating and said her ‘mind, body, family and future were torn apart in a single catastrophic moment.’
‘It stole who I was. I used to be open, trusting and joyful. I now mistrust instinctively,’ she told the court. ‘The path I expected to follow, the person I’ve wanted to be, was erased.’
Even after his convictions, Rossi declared his innocence during his sentencing, starting his remarks with a quote from conservative writer George F. Will.
‘Victimhood is the new status symbol. Everyone needs to be a victim,’ the convicted rapist told the court.
His death comes after a former youth pastor took his own life this week just days after being charged with killing his wife Bernadette in Zion National Park, in Utah, in 2006.

In a surprising turn of events, Pauline Hanson, leader of One Nation, has extended a job offer to Karl Stefanovic amidst recent controversies. Reports had emerged from Nine newspapers indicating Stefanovic’s impending departure from the network, a reaction to the backlash regarding his podcast interview with the far-right figure, Tommy Robinson. It’s important to note that this podcast is independently produced and not associated with Nine.
The fallout from the podcast episode seemingly prompted Nine to sever ties with Stefanovic, who has been a mainstay on their flagship morning program, Today, for an impressive twenty years. Presently, Stefanovic is believed to be in talks with the network over the terms of his departure.
During a conversation with Andrew Bolt on Sky News on Wednesday evening, Hanson expressed her criticism of Nine, suggesting the network has shifted its political stance to the “left.”
“Hey, guess what, Karl? I’m looking for someone in my office,” Hanson announced, extending her proposal.
Hanson eagerly invited Stefanovic to join her team, promising a partnership aimed at making a significant impact. “Karl, come and apply for a job with me. We’ll have a great time, we’ll put them all on notice, and we’ll get the country back on track, mate,” she enthused.
Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is a far-right anti-Islam activist in the United Kingdom, linked to violent anti-immigration riots in the UK and co-founder of the now-defunct anti-Islam group English Defence League.
Here’s how the saga unfolded.
A timeline of the Karl Stefanovic Show
When Stefanovic first launched his independent podcast in January, he promised to “unleash the beast”.
“I have this curious beast inside my head, and I’m about to unleash that beast,” he said in the trailer.
His debut episode, featuring a 55-minute interview with Pauline Hanson, sits at over 300,000 views on YouTube.
In the 66 episodes published since, Stefanovic has interviewed guests ranging from the controversial, such as billionaire Clive Palmer, to the expected, such as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
However, it was his interview with Tommy Robinson published on Tuesday evening that landed Stefanovic in hot water.
Stefanovic introduced Robinson in the interview as “one of Britain’s most controversial figures”.
Robinson, a former tanning salon owner turned anti-Islam activist, has been banned from several social media platforms for violating rules on hateful conduct and hate speech and has multiple criminal convictions.
“I really do admire your tenacity and the courage that you’re showing in trying to stand up for what you believe is right,” Stefanovic told Robinson during the interview.
Stefanovic and Robinson discussed populist politics in the UK, the United States, and elsewhere.
“I love her, Pauline,” Robinson said of the One Nation leader, in reference to the connection between the two figures.
“She’s been through what I’ve been through: she’s been condemned, attacked, battered, every name under the sun.
“And here she is, she’s carried on against all of that backlash.”
Stefanovic and Robinson are seen walking side by side, Robinson wearing a “Unite the Kingdom” T-shirt, the name given to a series of large-scale anti-immigration rallies in London.
The following morning, the interview disappeared from Stefanovic’s YouTube channel, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
Robinson’s return
Why the episode was taken down or who made the call is not yet known.
On Wednesday, Nine distanced itself from the podcast while saying it took his most recent episode “seriously”.
“The Karl Stefanovic Show is a completely independent production,” a Nine spokesperson told the Australian Associated Press.
“Nine has no involvement, including in the guest selection and other editorial processes.
“However, Nine is taking this matter seriously.”
The podcast reportedly sparked a full day of executive crisis talks at Nine.
The interview then appeared on Hanson’s YouTube channel with “CANCELLED” added to the title. Within 23 hours, the video received 207,538 views.
Later on Wednesday, Robinson himself uploaded the interview to his own channel with a similar title.
Stefanovic is in London and was absent from Thursday morning’s Today broadcast. His expected departure was not discussed on the program.
Stefanovic’s contract with Nine was set to expire in December. The breakfast host was reportedly Australia’s highest-paid television presenter, estimated to earn around $2.8 million as the face Australia wakes up to.
The incident is not the first time the breakfast presenter has faced scrutiny since he started co-hosting Today in 2005.
In 2009, Stefanovic looked flushed, slurred his words and giggled through a broadcast the morning after the 2009 Logies.
In 2024, he admitted: “I really was drunk, or at least I certainly looked and sounded drunk.”
In late 2018, Stefanovic stepped down from Today following a scandal in which he was overheard criticising his Nine colleagues. He returned to the show in 2020, and has remained in the role since.

WASHINGTON – On Friday, President Donald Trump issued a stern warning, threatening to impose a 100% tax on imports from any nation that decides to levy taxes on digital services provided by companies from the United States.
Through a social media post, Trump targeted European countries, accusing them of contemplating “imminent” taxation on American businesses.
“Consider this a statement that any Country imposing such a Tax will instantly face a 100% TARIFF on all products shipped to the USA,” Trump declared in his post.
He further clarified that this new tax policy would override any previous trade agreements. While Trump stated the penalty would apply to any country moving forward with these taxes, he particularly highlighted European nations.
Trump has consistently opposed international attempts to tax or regulate U.S. tech behemoths. Last year, he hinted at fresh tariffs against countries taking such actions, criticizing that digital taxes and regulations are primarily aimed at harming or discriminating against American tech companies.
The threat comes ahead of Trump’s July 4 deadline for the European Union and United States to approve a tariff deal that caps tariffs on most EU exports at 15%.
The European Union in May finalized a trade deal with the United States that caps most tariffs on EU exports at 15%. The deal followed months of debate within the EU after European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen tentatively struck the deal while visiting Trump’s golf course in Scotland.
Digital taxes were not part of the agreement and have remained a sticking point between the U.S. and the European bloc.

In Netflix’s ongoing adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, viewers are set to embark on a fascinating journey to the Earth Kingdom this season.
As one of the Avatar world’s most expansive and densely populated regions, the Earth Kingdom serves as the home to many beloved characters. Aang, portrayed by Gordon Cormier, along with his companions, ventures into this vast territory in search of a master earthbender.
Those familiar with the original show will recall that the element of earth was particularly challenging for Aang, given his Air Nomad background. However, in Season 2, audiences travel to Ba Sing Se and meet intriguing new Earth Kingdom characters. Among them is Toph, played by Miya Cech, a blind yet incredibly skilled earthbending master who guides Aang in mastering this formidable element.
Toph is not the only Earth Kingdom native in Aang’s circle. This season delves deeper into the story of Suki, a well-loved character, exploring her dynamic with a certain member from the water tribe.
Who is Suki on Avatar: The Last Airbender?
As the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors, Suki herself does not wield bending powers. Nonetheless, she excels in martial arts. In the original series, during Season 1, Episode 2, Suki initially apprehends Aang and his friends under the mistaken assumption they were enemies. After proving their innocence, Suki persuades her mother, Yukari, played by Tamlyn Tomita, to allow them to remain. During this time, she grows close to Sokka, Ian Ousley’s character, a non-bender from the Southern Water Tribe. Though the live-action series accelerates their relationship timeline compared to the original animated series, this creative decision has sparked a variety of responses from fans.
In Season 2, Suki takes on a more prominent role as their relationship continues to expand as she joins the group on their journey. She steps out beyond her secluded village, and gets to experience the rest of the Earth Kingdom. She and the other Kyoshi warriors help protect villages from the Fire Nation and refugees across the Earth Kingdom.
Who plays Suki on Avatar: The Last Airbender?
Suki is played by Polish-born Chinese actress Maria Zhang. According a 2022 interview with Mixed Asian Media, Zhang first started acting by doing community theater, after her grandma found a newspaper clipping asking for young actors. The now-26-year-old has a B.A. in acting from The University of Southern California. She has starred in short films, and has been featured in shows like ABC’s The Rookie and Netflix’s A Man on the Inside.
Playing Suki is Zhang’s first major television role, and she’s doing great. We can’t wait to see more of her and her character in the next season.
A mistrial was declared by a federal judge in the case against the man accused of intentionally starting the Palisades Fire, as jurors could not reach a unanimous decision.
Arrested in October 2025, Jonathan Rinderknecht faced charges of property destruction by fire and pleaded not guilty relating to the Palisades Fire in January 2025. The jury in California largely leaned towards not guilty, with ten jurors supporting acquittal and two dissenting.
United States Attorney Bill Essayli expressed confidence in the evidence against Jonathan Rinderknecht, asserting his responsibility for igniting the January 1, 2025 fire that escalated into the Palisades Fire. In a statement on X, Essayli confirmed plans for a retrial to pursue guilty verdicts on all charges.
On Thursday afternoon, the jurors initially announced they had reached a decision, but returned 30 minutes later admitting they were unable to conclude with a verdict.

“Would an additional instruction or the re-reading of any testimony help the jury in their deliberations?” the judge asked.
“There is nothing the court can do to assist the jury in their deliberations. Additional instructions or rereading the testimony would not help in deliberations. Unfortunately, we cannot reach a unanimous verdict,” the jury replied.
In total, estimates say the fire caused $35 billion and $45 billion in damage and led to the deaths of 12 people.
During the trial, behavioral analyst Kevin Kelm testified he believes Rinderknecht’s behavior is similar to someone who is driven by “societal revenge.”
Kelm said that in cases of societal revenge, the suspect typically focuses on personal problems such as finance, relationships, work, lifestyle or anything they’re not capable of dealing with on a daily basis. He said Rinderknecht’s use of ChatGPT was to make a “dystopian image” of the world, where he designed an image representing a barrier between rich people and other individuals who don’t have as much money.
Rinderknecht was partly inspired by Luigi Mangione, who is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, prosecutors say.
Jonathan Rinderknecht appears in federal court in Orlando, Florida, on Oct. 9, 2025. He faces charges for allegedly starting a New Year’s Day fire that killed 12 people in Pacific Palisades, California.(Neftali Melendez)
“In the months leading up to the fire, he had become increasingly angry with his life and society at large,” prosecutors wrote in a court filing. “For example, in the weeks and hours leading up to the fire, defendant fixated on Luigi Mangione, who allegedly murdered the UnitedHealthcare CEO in New York City on December 4, 2024.”
Rinderknecht searched the terms “free LuigiMangione,” “lets take down all the billionaires” and “reddit lets kill all the billionaires” on Dec. 12 and 13, 2024, federal prosecutors said.
Luigi Mangione appears at a pretrial hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court in New York City on June 17, 2026. (Pool via Barry Williams for New York Daily News)
“When investigators asked defendant why someone might commit arson in the Pacific Palisades, he responded that it would be out of resentment of the rich enjoying their money as ‘we’re basically being enslaved by them’ and compared such an act of ‘desperation’ to the murder for which Mangione was charged,” prosecutors wrote.
Mangione’s attorney, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, told News Media in a statement: “As we have stated before in multiple public court filings, Mr. Mangione does not support violent actions and does not condone past or future political violence. These repeated attempts to connect him to unrelated acts or to insinuate that he condones or supports these acts are irresponsible, dangerous and prejudicial.”
Background: Alexandria Drive area in Reedsville, West Virginia (via Google Maps). Inset: Danielle Lee Murray (Tygart Valley Regional Jail).
In West Virginia, a woman faces allegations of abandoning her 5-year-old son near a busy thoroughfare while attempting to steal a car right in front of its owner.
The suspect, 37-year-old Danielle Lee Murray, is currently held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail with a bond set at $25,000.
According to WBOY’s report, an affiliate of NBC and ABC, she faces charges of child neglect.
The incident came to light on June 4 when a resident of Alexandria Drive in Reedsville, located in Preston County in northern West Virginia, reportedly caught someone in the act of attempting to take their car.
The vehicle owner called law enforcement and said a woman — alleged to be Murray — got into their car “and tried to steal it.”
The caller noted that the suspect was a “female [who] seems a ‘bit off’,” according to a criminal complaint obtained by the local TV station. Furthermore, the woman was “unsteady” and unable to stand upright.
Troopers with the West Virginia State Police responded to the area and noticed Murray walking about a mile away toward a gas station. They apparently already identified her as their suspect, because they asked her if she was indeed Murray, and though she said “no,” they identified that she was.
In the time that Murray allegedly tried to steal the car and then walked toward the gas station, she left a young child who was in her care “outside with no one supervising” at an apartment complex with a “heavy traffic of cars,” law enforcement said. One neighbor said the boy was “freaking out looking for” his mother, per the complaint.
The child was 5 years old and had autism, area CBS affiliate WDTV reported.
Another family member of the boy took custody of him, authorities noted. Murray was arrested and booked into jail.
The former spouse of the man involved with Maya Millete testified about how she discovered his infidelity through the missing woman’s husband, who is currently on trial for her murder.
Maya, a 39-year-old mother of three, mysteriously disappeared in January 2021. She was last observed driving her vehicle into the driveway of her $1.3 million Chula Vista home, located about 10 miles from San Diego, California.
Though her body has not been recovered, Maya is presumed dead, and her spouse, Larry Millete, faces accusations of her murder, allegations he firmly denies.
Maya was engaged in an extramarital relationship with a colleague, Jamey Laird, and was actively pursuing a divorce from Larry, her husband since 2000.
On Thursday, Jamey Laird’s ex-wife, Patricia Laird, provided testimony during Larry’s trial, revealing that Larry persistently contacted her to expose the affair prior to Maya’s disappearance, as reported by NBC San Diego.
Patricia, a San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy, said she briefly kicked Jamey out of their home in February 2020 after she saw him Instagram messaging another woman.
Shortly after, Patricia testified that she started to receive phone calls from Larry telling her about their spouses’ affair.
Although she reunited with Jamey and got pregnant with their first child after he denied the affair, she said Larry continued to call her, and she ended up blocking six different phone numbers associated with the Millettes.

Her husband, Larry Millete (left), has been accused of murdering her after learning she had an affair with a co-worker
Maya’s affair partner’s ex-wife, Patricia Laird (pictured), testified at Larry’s murder that he continually called her about the cheating
‘I didn’t want to be part of the drama. I wanted to focus on my pregnancy. I wanted to move forward and not be part of this triangle,’ she said.
On January 5, 2021, two days before Maya vanished, Patricia testified that Larry called and told her that Maya had confessed to the affair.
Patricia then called Maya and confronted her about the cheating. She claimed Maya told her she was lying to her husband because he was crazy.
‘I asked her if she was scared or intimidated, and she said no. I asked because that’s my profession,’ Patricia said on the stand.
‘When people say, “crazy,” they need to elaborate more, especially because they’re bringing their drama toward me. And she’s talking about divorce, and Jamey loves you, and all of that. When she said crazy, I needed to ask, “What do you mean?”
‘I offered her some restraining order resources if she needed it and she said she would go to the Chula Vista Police Department if she needed it.’
Patricia went into labor on the day Maya disappeared, January 7, 2021, and testified that Jamey was at the hospital with her until January 10.
She said that the calls from Larry stopped after Maya went missing, and she and Jamey eventually divorced after he came clean about the affair.
Larry has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and illegal possession of an assault rifle
Maya had an affair with a co-worker, Jamey Laird, and was pushing forward with a divorce from Larry, now 44, whom she married in 2000
Jamey Laird (pictured) testified at Larry’s trial and admitted to lying during police interviews after Maya disappeared
When Jamey testified earlier this week, he admitted to lying during police interviews after Maya disappeared.
He confessed that he was in love with Maya, but said he had deleted their messages when his wife went into labor.
He testified that he was concerned for Maya because of her husband’s controlling behavior and admitted he had argued with her because Larry had contacted his wife about the affair.
Jamey told the court that he had rebuked his mistress and said to her that he could not ‘have this happening.’ He was also grilled about his initial statements to the police.
Larry has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and illegal possession of an assault rifle.
