Bears Eye Indiana Stadium Move: Illinois Lawmakers Keep Hope Alive

The Chicago Bears are inching closer to a potential relocation to Indiana, thanks to a pivotal vote by the team’s Board of Directors on Friday. The board has decided to move forward with negotiations for a new stadium project in Hammond.

According to a statement from Kevin Warren, president and CEO of the Chicago Bears, relocating across the state line could have positive implications for both Chicago and its neighboring regions.

Urgent Manhunt Launched Following Multiple Shootings at Ohio Street Festival

In brief

  • The shooting took place in Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday afternoon local time.
  • Police said multiple people were injured and a search was underway for the suspects.

In Ohio, a street festival was disrupted by gunfire, leaving multiple individuals injured and prompting an ongoing manhunt for the culprits, according to local law enforcement.

The incident unfolded in Toledo, where police were alerted to gunfire near the Old West End Festival around 5:30 PM local time on Saturday (7:30 AM AEST).

Upon arrival, officers discovered numerous victims and began transporting them to medical facilities, as confirmed in a statement by the Toledo Police Department.

Details regarding the number of individuals affected, the severity of their injuries, and the motive behind the shooting remain unclear. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend those involved.

Expressing his concern, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine stated, “The events in Toledo tonight are troubling. Summer festivals should be havens where families can gather without the threat of violence.”

Multiple videos posted to social media showed people running over the sound of gunshots and emergency officials tending to others who appeared wounded.

Kevin Berry said he was sitting in the neighbourhood arboretum listening to live music with his friends when he heard a handful of gunshots ring out.

“Everybody hit the deck,” he said.

When he looked back up, he saw a gun being tossed to the ground less than 15m away from him. Police officers who were already on-site for the festival immediately responded to the scene.

Berry, who has medical training and served in the US Navy, said he walked around the area looking for potential victims who might need help.

He said he saw at least five people with gunshot wounds.

“The folks who were hit were spread out around the arboretum area,” he said.

The Old West End Festival is a two-day celebration in Toledo’s historic district that includes live music, food vendors, home tours and shopping.

Sergeant Mohamad Nasser, a spokesman for the Toledo police department, said more information would be released shortly on the department’s Facebook and X accounts.

Urgent Health Alert: Measles Detected in California Wastewater Sparks Major Concerns

0

Health authorities in California have uncovered traces of measles in wastewater samples, suggesting a potential resurgence of the disease within the state.

According to the Merced County Department of Public Health, the discovery was made during routine testing. Although there are currently no confirmed clinical cases in Merced County, officials warn that the findings could signal undetected spread in the community.

Statewide, confirmed measles cases have surged to 74 across seven counties, marking the highest annual total California has seen in the past seven years.

This sharp increase is a stark contrast to the previous year’s numbers, which saw only 25 cases reported throughout 2025, highlighting the rapid resurgence of the virus.

Data from public health officials reveal that approximately 96% of those infected are either unvaccinated or have uncertain vaccination status, emphasizing the role of immunity gaps in the spread of the disease.

The outbreak is unfolding even though roughly 95% of kindergarteners in California are vaccinated, a level typically considered sufficient for herd immunity.

Officials, however, warn that tightly clustered pockets of unvaccinated communities are allowing the virus to spread.

The resurgence is not limited to California. State health leaders say the situation reflects a broader national surge, with America experiencing measles activity at levels not seen in decades.

“The United States is experiencing the highest numbers of measles cases, outbreaks, hospitalizations and deaths in more than 30 years, driven by populations with low vaccination rates,” said California Public Health Officer Dr. Erica Pan in a statement.

Measles remains one of the most contagious viruses in the world.

Health experts note that in an enclosed space, a single infected person can transmit it to up to nine out of 10 unvaccinated people.

The virus can also linger in the air for up to two hours after an infected individual leaves, raising the risk of exposure for others entering the same space.

Public health officials are also warning about growing misinformation circulating alongside the outbreak.

During last year’s US measles surge, poison control centers reported a spike in calls involving children exposed to a widely available supplement.

Around the same period, online interest surged in whether certain vitamins could be used as alternative treatments.

A new study from Boston Children’s Hospital analyzed Google search trends for “vitamin A and measles” and “cod liver and measles,” finding increased public curiosity tied to those discussions.

The attention reportedly followed commentary from prominent figures, including Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and podcaster Joe Rogan, who discussed the nutrient as a possible aid against the virus.

Health experts stress that vitamin A and cod liver oil cannot prevent measles and are not substitutes for the MMR vaccine.

While high-dose vitamin A is sometimes used in hospital settings to treat complications in severely deficient or malnourished children, unsupervised use or supplementation can carry a risk of toxicity.

Viral Video Captures Harrowing Subway Assault: Woman Accused of Antisemitic Attack and Attempted Choking

A disturbing incident unfolded on a New York City subway last weekend, resulting in the arrest of a 23-year-old woman on hate crime charges. The NYPD confirmed to News Media that Diana Smith, a resident of the Bronx, was apprehended following a violent encounter that was captured on video.

In the unsettling footage, Smith can be seen and heard making antisemitic remarks. She reportedly shouted, “Jews are eating kids!” at the victim, and further accused, “You’re a Jew. I can smell the kids.” These heinous comments were made in a crowded subway car, escalating into a physical confrontation.

The video captured the moment when Smith allegedly attacked the victim, delivering punches, kicks, and even choking her. As the violence unfolded, fellow passengers reacted in shock. Smith was also heard justifying her actions by saying, “It’s OK for her to eat a kid, but I can’t choke her down?”

According to the NYPD, the victim, also 23 years old, endured not only physical assault but also had some of her hair forcibly pulled out by Smith before being thrown to the ground. The brutal nature of this attack and its hateful undertones have sparked significant concern and outrage.

After she hit, kicked and choked the victim, who was identified by the NYPD as a 23-year-old woman, Smith allegedly threw her to the ground and ripped out some of her hair.

The video was shared on social media by the Combat Antisemitism Movement.

Smith was arrested after the incident and charged with hate crime assault, hate crime criminal obstructing breathing and hate crime aggravated harassment.

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said.

She suffered minor injuries, the Jerusalem Post reported.

The victim told the Post that Smith had earlier been asking if other riders were Jewish, and she also claimed that Jews are stealing wealth, an antisemitic trope.

Spencer Pratt Criticizes Los Angeles Mayoral Vote Count: A Social Media Storm

0

Spencer Pratt has expressed frustration over what he describes as California’s exceedingly slow ballot counting process, as he finds himself trailing behind challenger Nithya Raman, who is gaining momentum.

Initially, Pratt appeared poised to advance to a runoff against incumbent Karen Bass, with Donald Trump’s Department of Justice closely monitoring the proceedings. His lead over Raman seemed secure.

However, by Saturday evening, Pratt’s advantage had dwindled to just a single percentage point, following a new batch of ballots that saw Raman outpacing not only Pratt but also fellow Democrat Bass in votes.

On Saturday night, Pratt took to X, sharing a meme from the film “A Beautiful Mind” featuring Russell Crowe engaged in complex mathematical calculations, likely in reference to the unexpected election developments.

‘Me trying to figure out how votes get counted in LA,’ he captioned the post.

Raman made significant gains, capturing 40.2 percent of the ballots counted on Saturday, which boosted her tally by an additional 23,514 votes.

Bass came in second place, with 19,312 votes, or 33 percent, while Pratt finished with just 10,336, or 17.7 percent.

Bass now has a lengthy lead over Pratt, with 34.8 percent of the vote counted so far to the former reality TV star’s 27.3 percent.

However, socialist City Councilmember Raman now stands at 26.2 percent, trailing Pratt by just 7,400 votes.

There remains nearly a quarter of the city’s ballots left to count, but VoteHub reported Raman as ‘on track’ to face Bass in the runoff when the counting is finished.

It’s a different message from the one Pratt sent out just a day earlier.

‘Patience,’ the former Hills star posted to X Friday afternoon, along with several photos of himself outside of LA City Hall.

The Department of Justice has sent one of its attorneys to Los Angeles to observe the ballot-counting process, as President Donald Trump has once again claimed fraud as two key races have yet to be called.

The tedious process of counting all of California’s mail-in ballots has left the fate of Republicans Pratt  and Steve Hilton hanging in the balance.

Billionaire activist Tom Steyer has creeped within five points of Hilton after today’s ballot drop, with fellow Democrat Xavier Becerra already confirmed for the runoff.

However, Hilton still remains favored to hang on by continuing to gain enough votes from more conservative parts of the state.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Renner was spotted Friday walking through LA County’s central processing center, according to footage from Fox News, alongside a member of Democratic California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s team.

‘My office has a presence on the ground right now, is monitoring the situation closely, and stands ready to protect voters and ensure California’s election laws are followed,’ Bonta posted to X, sharing a story about the feds being on hand.

Bass will advance to a November runoff, but with so many ballots left outstanding, it remains unclear whether Pratt or progressive city council member Nithya Raman will be her opponent.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — In a thrilling display of speed and stamina, Golden Tempo clinched victory in the 158th Belmont Stakes on Saturday, marking the final jewel of the Triple Crown. This triumph comes just five weeks after the horse’s impressive win at the Kentucky Derby, further cementing trainer Cherie DeVaux’s place in the annals of racing history.

Guided by jockey Jose Ortiz, Golden Tempo surged ahead in the final stretch at Saratoga Race Course, successfully fending off a challenge from Commandment to secure the win on this storied track.

Commandment finished in second place, while Renegade, the race favorite, came in third.

The pace was not nearly as fast as it was at Churchill Downs, yet Golden Tempo still was able to close in time to win the 1 1/4-mile race in 2:03.49.

DeVaux, after becoming the first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner, is the second in four years to do so at the Belmont. Jena Antonucci won it with Archangelo in 2023.

This was the third and final time for the Belmont at Saratoga in upstate New York while its traditional home on the border of Queens and Long Island is getting demolished and rebuilt. The race is set to return to Belmont Park next year.

DeVaux was born in Saratoga Springs and began her training career at the track.

Urgent Recall: Children’s Play Tents Pulled from Shelves Due to Safety Concerns with Fiberglass Poles

0

Available for purchase on Amazon.com and Tiny Land’s official website, Tinylandus.com, from November 2025 to March 2026, these play tents were priced between $54 and $70.

WASHINGTON — Approximately 7,500 children’s play tents from Tiny Land have been recalled following reports of fiberglass fragments from the poles causing skin and eye irritation.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on June 4, focusing on the Tiny Land-branded tents. This action comes after the company received eight complaints regarding the fiberglass poles shedding fibers. Whether any children have suffered from these irritations remains uncertain.

The recalled tents feature cream-colored fabric, three windows, a closable fabric door, 34 poles, star-shaped lights, and a quilted play mat as flooring.

Standing approximately 57 inches tall, 52 inches wide, and 32 inches deep, the affected tents can be identified by a label inside that bears the Tiny Land logo and the SKU “TLTGTT003BG-XYF1506251.”

These tents were sold on Amazon.com and on Tiny Land’s website Tinylandus.com between November 2025 and March 2026. They cost between $54 and $70.

Customers are urged to stop using the tents immediately and to disassemble them and store it where children cannot access the poles. Tiny Land is offering customers a free repair kit with replacement poles.

Request replacement parts on Tiny Land’s website HERE.

The fiberglass poles should only be handled with gloves and disposed of in accordance with state and local rules.

Fiberglass is a material made up of resin and glass fibers, creating a reinforced plastic, according to VPC Fiberglass, a fiberglass manufacturer.

While fiberglass is used in various ways, it can cause irritation to the eyes, nose, throat and skin, according to the Illinois Department of Health.

Fibers can be removed from the skin by washing irritated areas with soap and warm water. Clothes worn when exposed to fiberglass should be washed separately from other clothing, and the washing machine should be rinsed thoroughly afterward.

Pence Condemns Assault on Police and Government Vandalism, Advocates Against Financial Support

0

On Friday’s episode of HBO’s “Real Time,” former Vice President Mike Pence expressed strong opinions regarding the January 6 Capitol riots, stating that individuals who attacked law enforcement or damaged government property should not receive any financial support.

During the discussion, host Bill Maher broached the topic by suggesting that there could be a middle ground regarding the events of January 6. He referenced former President Trump’s controversial idea of pardoning those involved. Maher noted that while some attendees might not have had malicious intentions, others were clearly there to cause harm, such as those who threatened Pence’s life. Maher questioned whether they could agree that these individuals were indeed “bad people.”

In response, Pence clarified his stance, indicating he had no objections to pardoning individuals who were inadvertently caught up in the chaos of that day. However, he firmly stated that those who committed acts of violence against police officers or vandalized the Capitol with the intent to disrupt the electoral process should never have been pardoned and should not receive any financial benefits.

Maher then inquired if Pence harbored any resentment over the threat to hang him during the riots. To this, Pence responded with a noncommittal, “You know, I get, you know…,” leaving his feelings on the matter somewhat ambiguous.

Pence said, “You know, I get, you know…”

Maher said, “Did you ever fear for your life? Do you, did you actually fear that they would, that that could happen?”

Pence said, “Well, to be honest with you, I never felt a greater sense of resolve any day in my life than on January 6.”

Christian LA Dodgers Player Opts Out of Pride Celebration During MLB Game

0

During the Los Angeles Dodgers’ pride night on Friday, one player stood out for not participating in the team’s show of support. Pitcher Blake Treinen appeared to choose not to wear the rainbow cap that his teammates sported for the occasion.

Treinen took to the mound at the start of the ninth inning against their local rivals, the Los Angeles Angels. As he emerged from the bullpen, the ‘LA’ emblem on his cap remained in standard white, unlike the vibrant rainbow hues displayed on the caps of his fellow players.

Despite his brief appearance—Treinen pitched just one ball, resulting in Oswald Peraza grounding out to close the inning—his choice of cap did not go unnoticed by viewers, many of whom interpreted it as a deliberate statement.

One fan captured the moment on social media, noting, “During the Dodgers’ pride night, every player wore pride hats except Blake Treinen when he took the field,” alongside footage of the pitcher.

This incident isn’t the first where a Dodgers player has seemingly distanced themselves from pride-related events.

Last year, Clayton Kershaw wrote a reference to a Bible verse on his pride hat, next to the rainbow lettering he was helping promote.

The World Series winner inscribed the words ‘Gen 9:12-16’ on the cap – which is a passage from the Bible that says the rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant as opposed to a Pride symbol.

The passage reads: ‘And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”

While Treinen did not directly reference the Bible in his apparent protest, he is a devout Christian and has spoken in great detail before about his religious beliefs.

Speaking to CBN Sports during the Dodgers playoff-run to World Series victory last October, he said: ‘I think my family’s name is great in the eyes of God, but in the eyes of the world, nobody really knew the Treinens, and I don’t really care if they do.

‘Every single one of us have been given a gift and our way of repaying it to the Lord is how do we honor him with that gift?”

‘When I am welcomed into the gates of Heaven, I want to hear ‘Job well done, good and faithful servant.’

Treinen added in that interview that his life goal is ‘to make heaven crowded’ and added that he didn’t want ‘teammates or anybody in the stands or anybody in this world face the alternative’.

He has won the World Series three times across the course of his career with the Dodgers and is currently in the second season of a two-year, $22million contract with the team.

With Treinen’s help, the Dodgers ended the night victorious on Friday. Shortly after he got Peraza out, Freddie Freeman hit a walkoff home run for the Dodgers to beat the Angels 1-0 on Friday night.

The team hosts two more matchups against their city rivals before heading on the road to Pittsburgh for a three-game series against the Pirates from Tuesday.

They are 41-23 in the National League West, eight wins ahead of second-place Arizona Diamondbacks and the pick of many to win a third-straight World Series later this year.

Treinen did not comment over his apparent gesture after the game.
