Newark Mayor Rescinds Curfew Near Delaney Hall Following Intense Anti-ICE Demonstrations

0

Newark’s mayor has lifted a curfew that was put in place to manage violent protests at the city’s troubled immigration detention center, Delaney Hall. The announcement came on Tuesday from Mayor Ras Baraka.

Initially imposed on Sunday, the 9 p.m. curfew aimed to quell rising tensions and clashes between anti-ICE demonstrators and law enforcement officials. In addition to the curfew, specific zones for free speech were set up around the facility.

“Following a peaceful protest last night with no arrests, the curfew is being lifted to fully support the American rights to free speech and peaceful assembly,” Baraka stated.

He further expressed confidence in the protestors’ ability to conduct themselves respectfully, especially considering the plight of individuals detained by ICE and the private prison operator Geo Group.

“I trust in the training and policies of our community-focused police officers and our broader public safety system to prevent violence,” Baraka added.

The move comes after protesters from as far away as Portland, Oregon, have wreaked havoc outside the Newark facility — including allegedly biting federal law enforcement officers and threatening to kill an agent and his whole family.

Baraka added that a cordon around the facility would be lifted and protesters could once again assemble directly in front of Delaney Hall, rather than being forced to gather down the street from the facility.

Anti-ICE protesters cheered after the mayor’s announcement and screamed: “The people united will never be defeated. Video captured police lifting barricades as chanting crowds marched back to the detention center.

Newark Police have also taken the lead back from New Jersey State Police on controlling the area after Baraka blasted the past weekend’s police actions as “aggressive, unnecessary, and in some cases unconstitutional.”

After the city’s curfew was implemented on Sunday and Monday, 61 people were arrested on various charges, including failure to disperse, curfew violation, and resisting arrest, according to the Newark Police Department.

Chaos has engulfed the immigration detention facility in Newark since at least May 22, after top Democratic officials, including New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill, raised concerns about inhumane conditions in the facility and the lack of visitation hours.

Inmates inside reportedly launched a hunger strike over the conditions, but the Trump administration has repeatedly countered that the standard of living at Delaney Hall is higher than that in most US prisons.

Labor Backbencher Sparks Controversy Over AUKUS Submarine Deal: Internal Caucus Tensions Rise

0

In brief

  • Labor backbencher Ed Husic has called for a rethink of the AUKUS submarine deal.
  • The comments followed just-announced plans for an independent inquiry into AUKUS’ national security implications.

The Opposition is pressing the Defence Minister to bring backbencher Ed Husic into line after the Labor MP publicly called for a reassessment of the AUKUS nuclear submarine agreement. Husic’s dissent comes in light of recent disclosures that Australia will receive only second-hand submarines from the United States as part of this deal.

His statements align with those of Peter Garrett, former Labor minister and Midnight Oil frontman, who has announced plans to spearhead an independent “people’s inquiry” into the national security ramifications of the AUKUS agreement.

Husic further expressed his doubts during a private caucus meeting on Tuesday, questioning Australia’s commitment to the trilateral deal with the US and the UK. He pointed to growing concerns over the US’s reliability as an ally, suggesting that Australia might need to rethink its participation.

Addressing the media at Parliament House, the western Sydney MP remarked, “You do wonder whether or not we will get the deal, even the reconfigured one that we have got.”

“You do wonder whether or not we will get the deal, even the reconfigured one that we have got,” the western Sydney MP told reporters at Parliament House.

Australia was set to get a mix of new and used Virginia-Class vessels before eventually building its own in Adelaide, but now the defence force will only get used submarines.

Defence Minister Richard Marles defended the move, saying it would make AUKUS simpler and cheaper to deliver, but Husic appeared sceptical.

“In the circumstances he’s been placed, he would have to say that,” Husic said.

The Labor MP, who was science and industry minister before being ousted from cabinet in 2025 in a factional power play, said Australia needed to be open about the workforce shortages, supply chain challenges and quality issues confronting the AUKUS pact.

Husic has previously broken with his colleagues on the recognition of a Palestinian state, the war in Gaza and taxation of gas.

Opposition defence spokesperson James Paterson said the defence minister needed to pull Husic into line and suggested the comments could undermine Australia’s relationship with the US and UK.

“It’s absolutely legitimate to ask questions about how this government is going about delivering AUKUS … the answer to those concerns is to double down,” he told reporters in Canberra.

“The answer is not to scrap it altogether as Ed Husic is proposing.”

On Tuesday, Garrett announced plans to lead a community-based inquiry into AUKUS, investigating the implications of the pact for the nation’s security.

The crowdfunded probe, run separately from the government, would look into whether the vessels would make Australia more secure, the storage of nuclear waste and potential long-term strategic consequences, the former environment minister said.

“This is not a royal commission, this is a people’s inquiry,” Garrett said in Canberra.

Garrett said he hoped the government would be among those presenting to the inquiry and welcomed submissions from people with a range of political views.

“The AUKUS decision is the most momentous and expensive decision ever made by any Australian government in the modern era,” he said.

The rock star turned politician has named retired admiral Chris Barrie, former Western Australia premier Carmen Lawrence, Yankunytjatjara woman Karina Lester and Australia Institute co-chief executive Leanne Minshull as “commissioners” for the probe.

Barrie, who was chief of the defence force between 1998 and 2002, said it was important to have a thorough look at Australia’s defence commitments and its alliance with the US and UK.

“My fear … is that the kinds of expenditures, and the kinds of workforce, and the way in which we would go about supporting something like AUKUS, might drain other parts of our defence force,” he said.

Asked about Husic’s contribution during Labor’s caucus meeting, Treasurer Jim Chalmers would not be drawn.

“We support the AUKUS arrangements and I don’t get into the details of discussions in the parliamentary party,” he said.

WA Labor MP Josh Wilson has also previously raised questions about the nuclear submarine deal.

US Coast Guard Joins Search in Bahamas for Missing Lynette Hooker

0

MARSH HARBOUR, Bahamas — A search operation is underway as the U.S. Coast Guard arrives in the Bahamas to look for Lynette Hooker, an American woman, according to a U.S. official’s report to News Media.

The Coast Guard Cutter Margaret Norvell reached Hope Town around 5 p.m., having set off from Miami on Tuesday. Divers from the crew are set to explore a newly targeted area approximately 25 feet deep within the Sea of Abaco.

Observers noted the Coast Guard docking near the Abaco Inn in Hope Town on Tuesday. Upon arrival, a smaller Coast Guard vessel approached the dock, where personnel unloaded equipment before returning to the water.

Lynette Hooker disappeared on April 4 during a boating excursion near Elbow Cay in the Abaco Islands with her spouse, Brian Hooker. Brian has claimed that Lynette accidentally fell from a dinghy during the night and was carried away by the current. Her body has yet to be found.

A family friend and advocate for Lynette Hooker described her as the kind of person who was always there for others.

“She’s the kind of person anybody would be happy to be around in any occasion,” the friend told News Media. “She’s the type of person after the party that sticks around to help clean up. She’s a person who shows up beforehand to help you set up. She is your go-to person when you need a friend.”

The friend said the news of Lynette’s disappearance was devastating in the tight-knit boating community.

“When we heard somebody was missing in the Bahamas and the boating community, that’s tragic,” the friend said. “When we heard it was Lynette, that was emotional.”

Asked about the possibility that Lynette may no longer be alive, the friend said he is still holding onto hope, however slim.

“I’m still hoping for cabana boys. I know that’s not realistic,” he said. “When the closure comes, we will grieve, and we will be able to answer that more.”

AMERICAN WOMAN MISSING AFTER HUSBAND SAYS SHE FELL OVERBOARD, SWEPT TO SEA DURING BAHAMAS BOAT TRIP: POLICE

After the vessel left the Bahamas, authorities seized it and the Coast Guard docked Soulmate in Fort Pierce, Florida. Eventually, officials relocated the boat to a port in Fort Lauderdale.

A U.S. official familiar with the investigation previously confirmed to News Media that, once pulled from the water, Soulmate would be taken to a warehouse to be combed for clues.

Hooker’s disappearance in the Bahamas is being investigated as a murder, a U.S. official familiar with the investigation told News Media earlier Tuesday.

But investigators are treating the case as a homicide, the official said, as they review digital evidence, location data and the couple’s sailboat, Soulmate, which was recently seized by the U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service.

Julie Rendelman, a former federal prosecutor who is now a criminal defense attorney, said prosecutors could face a difficult evidentiary path if charges are filed without Lynette Hooker’s remains being recovered.

“If they were to go forward with charges, they would be going forward with what we tend to call a no-body homicide case,” Rendelman told News Media.

She said that if Brian Hooker were charged and convicted of murder, he could face severe penalties.

“He could be facing some type of life sentence, if he’s charged and found guilty of murder,” Rendelman said.

Rendelman cited 18 U.S.C. § 1119, the federal statute covering the foreign murder of U.S. nationals. The law applies when a U.S. national kills or attempts to kill another U.S. national while that person is outside the United States but within another country’s jurisdiction.

But Rendelman cautioned that even if a body is found, proving exactly what happened could be difficult without clear physical evidence of foul play.

“Even if they find the body, unless you find a knife wound, a gunshot, some kind of injury, you’re not going to necessarily be able to delineate whether or not he threw her overboard and rode off or she fell off and died of natural causes from drowning,” Rendelman said.

She added that inconsistencies alone would not necessarily be enough to prove murder.

“Inconsistencies do not necessarily prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he killed his wife,” Rendelman said.

Tragic Case: Facebook-Hired Babysitter Receives Sentence for Child’s Heartbreaking Death

0

An Oklahoma babysitter, hired by parents via Facebook, has been sentenced after being found guilty of killing an infant, a crime strikingly similar to a previous conviction.

Holly Sheppard received her second life sentence on Wednesday for causing the death of 22-day-old Willow Rose Shelton, an incident that occurred eight years prior. This follows her existing life sentence with the possibility of parole for another offense in 2023. Authorities revisited the initial case after drawing parallels between the two convictions.

Willow’s parents discovered Sheppard on the social media platform and employed her to look after their newborn in 2018.

Tragically, only four days under Sheppard’s supervision, Willow was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital suffering from ‘non-accidental abusive head trauma’ and succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.

After four days in the babysitter’s care, Willow was rushed to St Anthony’s Hospital with ‘non-accidental abusive head trauma’ and died shortly later.

Oklahoma City police arrested Sheppard and interviewed multiple witnesses, but investigators were unable to identify who was caring for the infant at the time of the injury.

Sheppard was detained by police but later released, leaving the case unresolved.

Five years after Willow’s death, two-month-old Korra Burdick was brought to Oklahoma Children’s Hospital on July 14, 2023 with a brain injury.

Korra was being babysat by Sheppard in Ponca City, just over an hour from Oklahoma City. She survived and was treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

At the time, Sheppard told investigators she didn’t know how the baby got hurt, but she later changed her story several times and went on to admit she dropped Burdick twice.

Sheppard said she dropped the child after tripping over a toy, but doctors said her brain injury was too extensive for that to be the cause.

The baby was left with internal bleeding, two skull fractures and had to have a flap of her skull removed to relieve pressure.

Sheppard was later arrested for child neglect, child abuse and obstruction of justice with a bond set at $500,000.

In November 2024, she entered a blind plea of no contest and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of release after 25 years in Kay County.

Ponca City Deputy Chief of Police Josh Henderson said Sheppard’s crimes were ‘inexcusable and represent a profound betrayal of the trust placed in someone responsible for a child’s care.’

‘No child should ever suffer harm at the hands of those entrusted with their safety,’ Henderson told local outlet KOKH in 2025.

‘We are grateful for the opportunity to assist other agencies across Oklahoma in their pursuit of justice in heartbreaking cases such as these.’

Joe Dorman, the CEO of the Oklahoma Institute of Child Advocacy, said these startling cases should serve as a reminder to parents to be cautious when picking a babysitter online.

‘I would be wary of searching for any individual to be a babysitter on the internet,’ he told KOCO News.

‘If you go through a professional service, that’s one thing, but don’t just post to people who might be a connection on Facebook, “I need a babysitter,” because how well do you truly know them?’

Instead, Dorman said if parents can’t turn to trusted relatives or friends to watch their children, they should use legitimate babysitting services that conduct background searches on caregivers.

‘These businesses will hire individuals, ensure they’re background checked, and put them through some training sometimes, so that’s usually a better option,’ he said.

Chelsea’s Transfer Targets: Updates on Morgan Rogers and Jarrod Bowen, Key Positions in Focus, Enzo Fernandez Developments, Midfield Prospects, and Potential Marc Cucurella Departure

In the wake of their absence from European competitions, Chelsea is determined to avoid a repeat of last season’s disappointment. The club understands the importance of making strategic decisions in the upcoming transfer window.

To bolster their squad, Chelsea plans to engage in both acquisitions and sales, all tailored to fit the vision of their incoming manager, Xabi Alonso. Although Alonso officially takes the reins on July 1, he has already been actively participating in discussions with the club’s sporting directors and owners since his appointment.

The club’s primary objective is to secure at least two, potentially three, seasoned players to enhance Alonso’s lineup. Here’s an update from Daily Mail Sport on Chelsea’s current transfer activities at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea has informed Daily Mail Sport of their asking price for their midfielder, pegged at £120 million. This puts the onus on Real Madrid and the player’s agent, Javier Pastore, to decide if they are prepared to meet this valuation. The 25-year-old Argentine, eager to settle his club situation before the World Cup, awaits their move.

Not in a rush to offload the midfielder, Chelsea acknowledges his worth, having invested £106 million following the previous World Cup. They are firm in their stance, stating they will not sell him for less than their valuation, fully prepared to retain him for the upcoming season if necessary.

Real could look at including players in a possible deal, though it is believed no names have been discussed between the clubs as of yet. Chelsea were extremely interested in young centre back Dean Huijsen when he left Bournemouth last summer to join Alonso, who had not yet been officially announced by Real but was involved in that £50m signing. Huijsen said previously: ‘I fitted in well with Xabi’s ideas.’

Who are Chelsea interested in?

Aston Villa and England attacker Morgan Rogers is one player, though Arsenal are also among those interested in the 23-year-old. Chelsea have naturally looked at Jarrod Bowen given West Ham’s relegation, and are not alone in that regard, as the winger has plenty of admirers.

However, I used to cover West Ham, and so still know some senior sources there. Every time I ask them about Bowen, I receive the same reply: ‘He’s not for sale.’ I don’t entirely believe that, but that’s the line they’re sticking with, including when asked if £35m would be enough to prise Bowen out of their hands.

Who have they already signed?

Winger Geovany Quenda will be arriving from Sporting Lisbon this summer, in a deal that was agreed a year ago.

Likewise, striker Emmanuel Emegha is coming in from their French sister side Strasbourg, along with returning loanee Mike Penders in goal.

Kazakh wonderkid Dastan Satpayev, who plays for Kairat Almaty and already has seven caps for his national team, will join Chelsea on August 12 when he turns 18.

Who could leave?

Let’s start with who isn’t. Josh Acheampong is not for sale. Chelsea have already rebuffed enquiries from English clubs and teams in Europe for the versatile 20-year-old defender. Acheampong is contracted until 2029 and will be keen for their belief in him to be backed up by playing time on the pitch. He will inevitably seek assurances from Alonso and Chelsea regarding that, but from the club’s perspective, he is untouchable.

Chelsea have long insisted they are not interested in selling their star players – from Joao Pedro to Cole Palmer to Reece James to Moises Caicedo to Levi Colwill to Estevao Willian – and that they do not need to do so to satisfy their financial situation.

Marc Cucurella could leave, however. Chelsea are not actively looking to sell, but if, say, Atletico Madrid arrived with an acceptable bid and the player expressed his desire to leave alongside that, then a deal can be done. Sources have not put a price on Cucurella’s head, unlike Fernandez.

Back-up goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has asked to be sold amid frustration over his game time and Chelsea will not stand in his way. Axel Disasi is available for sale after returning from his West Ham loan, which went well for him, if not for the club.

Decisions on the likes of Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana, Andrey Santos, Mamadou Sarr, Tosin Adarabioyo and so on may need to be made once Alonso has had a chance to work with them in pre-season, starting next month. Sources within Fofana’s camp have previously told us that he has no interest in leaving this summer.

Any midfielders among their targets?

Chelsea’s priorities are finding a centre back and a versatile attacker.

They could do with help on the left wing specifically – Alejandro Garnacho could be moved on this summer, with Jamie Gittens likelier to receive another season after injuries curtailed his last campaign. The pair cost a combined £88.5m last summer, and in a combined 40 Premier League appearances produced just one goal – Garnacho’s strike in the 2-1 home defeat by Sunderland in October.

The midfield could yet be bolstered though, depending on who leaves. When Chelsea were previously linked to Alex Scott of Bournemouth, sources within the club played it down, though I should note this was before Alonso’s appointment.

They did the same when Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes were rumoured, with that speculation coming after Alonso was confirmed to be the next manager.

Adam Wharton at Palace is admired, though would not come cheap, much like fellow England midfielder Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest, who is being chased by the two Manchester clubs, and is believed to be closest to City.

When it became clear that Ibrahima Konate was leaving Liverpool last week, Chelsea sources played down the assumption that they were in for him – the suspicion inside Cobham was that their name was being used to drum up a market and flush out another club. And now it seems he is destined for Real Madrid.

I reported a while back that Maxence Lacroix at Crystal Palace and Jan Paul van Hecke at Brighton are two Premier League players with experience whose situations are worth watching this summer.

Keep an eye on the situation of Brighton centre back Jan Paul van Hecke this summer

Keep an eye on the situation of Brighton centre back Jan Paul van Hecke this summer

Will Nicolas Jackson stay?

We cannot say with absolute certainty that Jackson will stay because if an offer too good to turn down suddenly arrives, then it will be considered.

The plan right now is to welcome Jackson back to Chelsea this summer now that his season-long loan at Bayern Munich has ended, and then assess.

There is an acceptance around the club that at least one striker will need to be sold. They currently have Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Marc Guiu, Emegha and Jackson on their books.

Sources close to Jackson’s camp say he would be willing to stay, but they too are waiting to see what happens, including with Delap. Guiu could leave on loan, along with 18-year-old Shim Mheuka, who has been scoring for fun for the development side.

Monica and Daughter Laiyah Embrace ’90s Fashion in Stylish New Photoshoot

Monica and her daughter Laiyah are channeling the spirit of the ’90s in their latest project.

The iconic duo stepped into the spotlight for a retro-inspired photo session, celebrating Monica’s upcoming performance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia.

Laiyah took to Instagram to share a series of photos from the shoot, where both were seen in matching, custom-designed brown MCM outfits.

One snapshot captured them beside a classic SUV, while another highlighted Laiyah striking a solo pose.

In her caption, the 12-year-old expressed her love for the ’90s, calling herself a true ’90s girl at heart.

“90’s girl at heart, just like my mama!” she wrote alongside the photos.

Monica responded directly to her daughter in the comments, writing, “MY FAVORITE GIRL. @laiyah I Love You … you’ve been lifting me up and holding it down so grateful God chose me to be your mommy.”

The singer also posted photos from the weekend on her own Instagram account, including one image with Brandy. The longtime friends reunited at Roots Picnic after Brandy surprised fans by bringing Monica out as a special guest during her set. The pair performed Monica’s hit song “So Gone.”

“I Promised You I Would Be There. Rayana & Denise = #BRONICA,” Monica wrote.

Monica and Laiyah’s custom MCM pieces were created by stylist Misa Hylton, who later shared photos from the collaboration and explained the inspiration behind the look.

“This custom MCM x Misa Hylton design was created to celebrate a woman whose style has always been her own,” Hylton wrote. “Created for Monica’s guest performance alongside Brandy at The Roots Picnic, this one-of-one custom design draws inspiration from the bold individuality, confidence, and street-luxury spirit that defined an era.”

Hylton added, “Seeing her share this moment alongside Laiyah made the story even more meaningful. Two generations. One story. Infinite influence. Because true style isn’t about trends. It’s about legacy.”

MEMORISE: But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. – 2 Peter 3:18 (KJV)

READ: Matthew 13:5-6, 20-21 (KJV)

Matthew 13:5-6
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

Matthew 13:20-21
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Job 31-34

Open Heaven 3 June 2026 MESSAGE

The second kind of soil Jesus described in His parable about the sower is ‘Stony places’. This soil type can be compared to people who receive the word of God with joy but turn their backs on it when they begin to encounter tough situations in their lives as a result of persecution.

Remember the word that I said unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you… – John 15:20

In the Scripture above, Jesus said that His followers will be persecuted as He was also persecuted. Furthermore, Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:12 that every true follower of Christ will experience persecution in one form or another. Being persecuted is a painful experience, and believers are not immune to it. In fact, going through the fires of persecution helps Christians to grow in faith (1 Peter 1:6-7, James 1:2-3). Despite this, however, the devil manages to convince some believers that the pain they are experiencing as a result of persecution is proof that God is unfaithful and that He does not love them. The devil succeeds in doing this because such Christians have not grown in the knowledge of God through His word and are largely ignorant of His ways, character, and power. Thus, their foundation in faith is very weak, and they are easily swayed by the devil.

It is good to hear the word of God and even be excited by it. Beyond that, however, every believer has the responsibility to build themselves up spiritually (1 Corinthians 3:9-1 0), and one of the ways to do this is by increasing their knowledge of God through His word. There is a popular saying that ignorance is bliss, but this is not true for a believer. Being in a state of ignorance about the word of God and making no efforts to build yourself up spiritually is very dangerous because it can lead to destruction (Hosea 4:6).

Beloved, do not allow yourself to fall victim to the wiles of the devil and be destroyed by him. Don’t just listen to the word of God from various ministers and get excited by it or be a believer who only opens the Bible on Sundays. Rather, be like the Bereans who took responsibility for knowing God by themselves (Acts 17:10-11). I pray that as you sow the seeds of the word of God daily into your heart, you will reap bountiful fruits of His goodness and mercy, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 3 June 2026 KEY POINT

Growing in the knowledge of God through His word is important for every believer.

Open Heaven 3 June 2026 HYMN 4 – To The Work! To The Work! We Are Servants Of God

1 To the work! to the work!
we are servants of God,
Let us follow the path that our
Master has trod;
With the balm of His counsel
our strength to renew,
Let us do with our might what
our hands find to do.

Refrain:
Toiling on, toiling on,
Toiling on, toiling on,
Let us hope, let us watch,
And labour till the Master comes.

2 To the work! to the work!
let the hungry be fed,
To the fountain of life let
the weary be led!
In the cross and its banner
our glory shall be,
While we herald the tidings,
“Salvation is free!”

3 To the work! to the work!
there is labour for all,
For the kingdom of darkness
and error shall fall;
And the name of Jehovah exalted shall be,
In the loud-swelling chorus,
“Salvation is free!”

4 To the work! to the work!
in the strength of the Lord,
And a robe and a crown shall
our labour reward,
When the home of the faithful
our dwelling shall be,
And we shout with the ransomed,
“Salvation is free!”

Richards, now 64, provides an exclusive interview for the series, recounting how von Mierers—once a New York socialite and former model—transformed into a self-proclaimed psychic medium. Claiming to channel alien energy, von Mierers managed to deceive a circle of affluent and attractive devotees, conning them out of millions.

Ironically, von Mierers’ sway over Richards also served as a catalyst for the model’s soaring career. Their fateful meeting when Richards was just 16 years old catapulted him to the pinnacle of the fashion world, making him a household name.

As new episodes of this riveting true crime series continue to release every Tuesday, audiences are left wondering about Richards’ life today and the enduring impact of his extraordinary past.

Richards rose to international prominence throughout the 1980s and 90s as one of the most sought-after names in modelling. Regarded by many as the first male supermodel, he worked alongside industry giants including Cindy Crawford and Fabio Lanzoni.

In 2018, he first disclosed his connection to Eternal Values, a group that became increasingly cult-like throughout the 1980s and held the belief that a UFO would rescue its members from the apocalypse at the turn of the millennium.

Richards departed the group in 1999, and it wasn’t long before the remaining followers went their separate ways.

Having turned his back on the cult, Richards pressed on with his modelling career while also venturing into acting. He made a brief cameo alongside Fabio in The Exorcist III and portrayed a model in the 1998 romantic comedy Six Days, Seven Nights, which starred Harrison Ford.

He also cropped up in a 2002 episode of the short-lived sitcom Three Sisters and a 2007 episode of CSI: Miami.

In more recent times, Richards has further bolstered his CV with screenwriting and producing credits. He co-wrote, produced, and starred in the 2014 comedy Dumbbells, which saw him reunite with Fabio playing himself, and notably featured Family Matters’ Jaleel White in the role of a cult leader.

His most recent work has featured in short films and independent productions, including the WWI fantasy drama Can You Hear Me?

Is he married or single?

According to the website Who’s Dating Who, Richards was married to actress Amy Lindsay from 2005-2009. He is currently thought to be unmarried and single.

However, he guards his private life closely, meaning it remains entirely possible that he has a partner who simply prefers to remain out of the public eye.

Bring Me the Beauties: A Model Cult continues Tuesdays on HBO Max.

Cory Booker Faces Off Against GOP Challenger: New Jersey Senate Race Heats Up

In the upcoming November election, Senator Cory Booker from New Jersey will compete against Justin Murphy, the victor of the state’s Republican Senate primary.

Booker, who encountered no challengers in the Democratic primary, aims to secure a third term as New Jersey’s representative in the U.S. Senate.

Murphy emerged as the Republican contender with approximately 33% of the vote, surpassing opponents such as surgeon Robert Lebovics, Army veteran Richard Tabor, and former TV journalist Alex Zdan in a competitive four-way race.

Previously, Murphy served on the Tabernacle township committee and made an unsuccessful attempt to secure the New Jersey GOP Senate nomination in 2024.

On his campaign website, Murphy highlights his commitment to the military, stating, “Just as I pledged in 2024, I dedicate this campaign to the brave men and women of our armed forces. I firmly believe that the American Military stands as the greatest force for good globally, second only to religious institutions.”

Murphy also emphasized “our country’s culture, parental rights, healthcare system, and economic opportunity for all Americans.”

The GOP Senate nominee opposes the legalization of marijuana and other drugs; backs “aggressive deportation” of criminal migrants; believes China is “the most serious threat” facing the country; and supports President Trump’s efforts to boost domestic energy production.

Knocking off Booker in the midterms will be a tall task for Republicans.

The incumbent’s Senate seat is considered “solid” Democrat by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.

About 38% of registered voters in the Garden State are Democrats, compared to the 25% who are Republican. Another 36% are unaffiliated.

New Jersey voters also solidly supported former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race over President Trump, as well as Democrat Mikie Sherrill in her 2025 gubernatorial contest against Republican Jack Ciattarelli.

Booker, who is considered a potential 2028 Democratic presidential contender, won his 2020 Senate re-election race by about 17 percentage points.

New Jersey voters haven’t elected a Republican to the Senate since 1972.

Kylie Jenner Courts Controversy: Knicks Fans Divided Over Her Game Attendance

The anticipation for the NBA Finals is building as the New York Knicks gear up to face off against the San Antonio Spurs. This marks the Spurs’ first appearance in the Finals since 2014, while the Knicks haven’t been in this position since their 1999 showdown, where they were defeated by the Spurs.

As fans debate who to support this year, many are leaning towards backing the Knicks, simply because they represent the league’s largest market and haven’t clinched a title since 1973. However, a closer look reveals that rooting for the Knicks comes with its challenges, thanks to certain off-putting aspects.

A recent survey conducted by Casino.org US, which involved more than 3,000 American adults, indicates that the Knicks are the nation’s favorite, with 46% of participants cheering for New York. Yet, there’s a twist: while people admire the Knicks as a team, they are less fond of the Knicks’ fanbase. The presence of celebrities like Kylie Jenner at the games has contributed to this sentiment.

The survey highlights that over half of Americans find New York sports fans “unbearable” when their teams are on a winning streak. Even among Knicks fans, 42.9% acknowledge that the behavior of New York sports supporters becomes intolerable with victories. Nearly half of those surveyed expressed that the downside of a potential Knicks championship would be the fans, media frenzy, celebrity supporters, and the inevitable “New York is back” hype.

Among those who hope the Knicks don’t win the series, 8.2% wish for a “respectable” loss, 4.3% desire a “heartbreaking” defeat, 3.9% hope for a sweep, and 29% are simply looking forward to “entertaining games.”

For respondents who want to see the Knicks lose the series, 8.2% percent said they would like to see the team lose in a “respectable way,” 4.3% would like the team to lose in “heartbreaking fashion,” 3.9% hope the team “gets swept,” and 29% say they “just want entertaining games.”

Among Knicks haters, 63% say the fans are annoying, while 36% admit they simply “do not want New York fans to be happy.” Ohio is the state most fed up with Knicks fans’ behavior, with 7 in 10 Ohioans saying New York fans are intolerable when winning.

And Kylie Jenner tops the Knicks Celebrity Row backlash list, with 45.3% of respondents saying “her presence at games makes the team hard to like.”

But while some may not love having a Jenner at games, it should be noted that the team does well when she’s there. When Jenner has been in attendance, she has an 83.3% courtside win rate and an average winning margin of 13.5 points.

According to data compiled by Casino.org US, the Knicks do not just win when Jenner shows up, they score more too, averaging 8.2 more points per game when she has been there in person. Moreover, the team averages “117.4 points when [Timothée] Chalamet has been in attendance, 13.6 points more than in other Knicks games analyzed.” And when Jenner, Chamalet, and superfan Spike Lee have all been in attendance, the Knicks win by nearly 20 points per game.

And for anyone wondering if Jenner’s presence could also mean the “Kardashian Kurse” is in effect, well, just a reminder that Lamar Odom did win an NBA championship while he was with Khloé, and Kim was Reggie Bush’s girlfriend when he won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints. And while Kendall’s ex, Devin Booker, hasn’t hoisted the Larry O’Brien Trophy, he has won a couple of Olympic gold medals for the U.S.
