White House Incident: Suspected Shooter Apprehended After Firing at Officers; Trump Present Inside

0

A dramatic and dangerous incident unfolded near the White House on Saturday evening, resulting in gunfire and the eventual death of a suspect. According to a statement from the Secret Service, officers were forced to open fire after the suspect began shooting at them at a security checkpoint.

The confrontation occurred at a checkpoint positioned at the intersection of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, a location just steps from the White House. The suspect reportedly approached the checkpoint, withdrew a firearm from his bag, and fired at the officers on duty.

In response, the officers returned fire, hitting the suspect. He was subsequently taken to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by the Secret Service.

The scene, quickly swarmed by law enforcement, sparked an intense investigation. Officers meticulously examined the area for evidence, ensuring the safety of this highly sensitive zone close to the nation’s seat of power.

A bystander was also struck by gunfire, but it was not clear how badly the person was hurt, according to a separate Secret Service statement cited by multiple news outlets.

The statement said it was not clear who fired the shot that hit the bystander.

Meet Kourtney Kellar: The Glamorous Life of Isaiah Hartenstein’s Wife and Her Impact on His NBA Journey

Isaiah Hartenstein’s journey from a European basketball sensation to a dependable NBA starter is nothing short of impressive. Originally honing his skills in Germany and Lithuania, he achieved championship glory with the latter in 2017. Riding high on this victory, Hartenstein transitioned to the NBA, being drafted by the Houston Rockets in 2017, where he made his debut the following season.

His NBA career has seen him wear several jerseys. In 2020, he joined the Denver Nuggets, only to be traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2021. His journey continued as he signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, followed by a stint with the New York Knicks. Most recently, he secured a lucrative three-year, $87 million deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Amidst the frequent team changes and relocations, one constant presence in Hartenstein’s life has been his wife, Kourtney Kellar. Here’s a closer look at their relationship.

How Hartenstein and Kellar met

The couple’s story began in 2019 when Hartenstein reached out to Kellar on Instagram, making the first move in her direct messages.

Kellar reminisced about the moment to the New York Post, saying, “My Instagram often attracts comments about my appearance, which is flattering. But Isaiah stood out by commenting on my smile, saying, ‘You have the most beautiful smile.’ He even shared his favorite photo of me, where I was simply wearing a turtleneck. It was a genuinely sweet gesture.”

“My Instagram is pretty sexy, so I get a lot of comments about my body, which is nice. But he came in and messaged me something like, ‘You have the most beautiful smile,’” she recalled to the New York Post. “[He] sent me his favorite photo of me from my feed. I was wearing a turtleneck in that picture. It was really sweet of him.”

At the time, Hartenstein still played for the Rockets and was living in the Houston area, while Kellar was living a few hours away in Dallas. They FaceTimed for weeks and eventually met up in person.

Kellar is a model and went viral after working with Jake Paul

Kellar was born on March 8, 1991, in Texas. She grew up in a military family and studied athletic training at Henderson State University. While in school, she began modeling to help pay for tuition.

“I was a broke college kid and needed money, so I started modeling in Arkansas for brands like Dillard’s and Walmart,” she told the Post.

Kellar earned her degree in 2014, but decided she wanted to model full-time. After winning Miss Texas International in 2017, she expanded into fashion and promotional work, eventually becoming widely recognized as a model and social media influencer. She is signed with the modeling agencies Lipps LA and Select Miami and has walked in shows at Miami Swim Week as well as New York Fashion Week. She also appeared on the cover of Malvie magazine.

Kellar went viral in 2021 when she was a ring girl for Jake Paul during his fight against Tyron Woodley, and viewers thought Jake’s brother, Logan Paul, was flirting with her.

When Hartenstein and Kellar got married and how many children they have

In April 2022, Hartenstein proposed to Kellar on a beach in Malibu.

The couple got married in July 2023. Their wedding took place aboard a 6,000-square-foot yacht off Newport Beach, California, with around 60 guests.

In May 2024, Hartenstein and Kellar welcomed their first child together, a son named Elijah.

Travis Kelce’s Spirited Appearance Unable to Revitalize Cavaliers’ Performance

In a spirited attempt to energize the Cavaliers’ fans, Travis Kelce took to chugging a beer, but even his efforts couldn’t rally the crowd during a disappointing night for Cleveland. Despite the enthusiasm, the Cavaliers still faced a 121-108 defeat to the Knicks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals on Saturday night.

As the fourth quarter loomed, the spotlight at Rocket Arena found Kelce courtside, where he downed a beer to the cheers of the crowd. The Ohio native added a touch of team spirit by pulling aside his coat to reveal a Cavaliers shirt, complete with a matching team hat, a gesture meant to bolster fan morale.

Adding a celebrity twist to the scene, the camera then captured his fiancée, the renowned pop star Taylor Swift. Her reaction was priceless, as she facepalmed and shook her head while her hit song “…Ready for It” played in the arena, creating an amusing moment for spectators.

Richard Jefferson, providing commentary for the ESPN on ABC broadcast, humorously noted, “I don’t know if his girlfriend is going to like seeing him chugging beers like that,” drawing attention to the playful dynamic between the couple.

“I don’t know if his girlfriend is going to like seeing him chugging beers like that,” commentator Richard Jefferson said during the ESPN on ABC broadcast.

Kelce’s stunt did not prove to help Cleveland in any way, who immediately gave up five points to start the fourth quarter.

The Knicks wound up rolling past the Cavaliers to go up 3-0 in the series. Game 4 is Monday night.

The Chiefs tight end was spotted sitting courtside with Swift earlier in Saturday’s game, with the broadcast panning to them midway through the first quarter.

The two are expected to get married in New York City in the coming weeks, with Page Six previously reporting the wedding will take place on July 3.

Despite buzz surrounding Kelce’s possible retirement from the NFL before this season, the 36-year-old confirmed in March that he will be suiting up for 2026, and later said how Swift served as a motivating factor for his return.

“We share the same love for what we do. Fortunately, we’ve had this desire since we were kids in our selective professions,” Kelce said during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” in March.

“It’s amazing to see her keep going to the table, keep finding new things to write about, keep finding new melodies and things like that, and on top of that, still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does, and yeah, of course, that’s motivating.

“That’s motivating for anyone to see, let alone my fiancée, and knowing that I’m going through something where I’m trying to figure out exactly what the future holds for me, something like that definitely motivates me to say, ‘You know what, I’m not done either,’” Kelce said.

Beloved BBC Radio Icon Passes at 52 After Courageous Cancer Battle

The cherished BBC presenter, Emma Britton, has passed away at the age of 52. Emma, renowned for her role as host of the breakfast shows on BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Radio Somerset, succumbed to stage four lung cancer, a diagnosis she received in April 2025. Her family expressed their deep gratitude for the love and care she received in her final months.

In a heartfelt tribute, her family shared, “We are planning to commemorate and celebrate Emma’s life just as she wished. Her grace and love, which she extended to countless families facing similar challenges, will guide us through this difficult time. It’s overwhelming to realize the profound impact she had on so many lives over the years.”

Emma’s colleagues at the BBC also mourned her loss. Gareth Roberts, the executive editor of the stations she worked for, remembered her as a “genuine, warm presenter” and emphasized the void she leaves as both a colleague and a friend.

He remarked, “Emma was truly the epitome of what BBC local radio stands for. She was not just a presenter but someone who lived in the West and cared deeply about the communities of Somerset and Bristol, a passion that resonated through the airwaves.”

“A genuine, warm presenter who not only lived here in the West but who really cared about the communities in Somerset and Bristol with a passion that leaped out of the radio.”

Stephanie Marshall, Head of BBC West, added: “Emma was Mrs Bridgwater, always doing her hometown and Somerset proud.

“She will be painfully missed but completely unforgettable, and the world while poorer without her, we are far better off for her having been in it, if only it could have been for a bit longer.”

Emma joined BBC Somerset back in 2007, before taking over the breakfast show in 2013. She then moved across to Radio Bristol in 2016, where she hosted for five years.

In February 2026, she raised over £11,000 for ALK Positive UK, a charity which she said “saved my life from falling apart”.

She added: “In the weeks following my diagnosis I was in a pretty dark place.

“The charity has given me and my husband John support, advice, solidarity, information, education, friendship and above all they give us hope.”

GOP Candidate Stirs Controversy with Remark on Matt Lauer Accuser: Backlash Erupts

0

A Republican contender for the Senate seat in Georgia has come under fire following a controversial post from his campaign that targeted Brooke Nevils, the woman who accused Matt Lauer of rape, along with her husband.

The campaign team for Representative Mike Collins made a contentious remark on the social platform X, calling Luke Thompson, Nevils’ spouse, “Matt Lauer’s sloppy seconds.” This comment stirred significant backlash due to its sensitive nature.

Luke Thompson is currently an advisor for Derek Dooley, who is challenging Collins in the ongoing Senate race in Georgia. The campaign’s dig at Thompson seemed to allude to the serious allegations Nevils made against former NBC anchor Matt Lauer nearly ten years ago, allegations which Lauer has consistently denied.

The inflammatory comment from Collins’ camp followed Thompson’s release of new polling data on X, indicating a narrowing gap in the race between Dooley and Collins. This latest development adds another layer of tension to the already heated competition for the Senate seat.

It came after Thompson shared new polling data on X Friday showing the race tightening between Dooley and Collins.

A campaign account called Mike Collins War Room replied to his post saying: ‘Matt Lauer’s sloppy seconds chiming in to take an L.’

It was swiftly deleted following backlash online after the exchange was amplified by Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Greg Bluestein. Collins has since distanced himself from the post and denied signing it off.

‘A campaign account for Senate candidate Mike Collins mocks an adviser to rival Derek Dooley’s PAC whose wife attempted suicide after accusing Matt Lauer of rape,’ Bluestein wrote.

In a now-deleted response, Mike Collins War Room, a campaign account for Collins, mocked Matt Lauer's rape accuser and her husband Luke Thompson by referring to Thompson as Lauer's 'sloppy seconds'

Brooke Nevils publicly accused Matt Lauer of rape in 2019, two years after his contract with NBC was terminated over sexual misconduct allegations.

Nevils first went public with rape allegations against Lauer in 2019 when she allowed Ronan Farrow to name her in the 2019 book Catch and Kill, an investigative memoir about alleged abuses of power.

It came two years after Lauer’s contract was abruptly terminated by NBC after the network announced it had received ‘a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.’

The statement added that NBC had: ‘Reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident.’

Lauer has denied Nevils’ allegations and insisted they had consensual sex which sparked the beginning of their affair. He has never been accused or charged with any crime.

But Nevils told Farrow that Lauer anally raped her in his hotel room while working for NBC host Meredith Vieira at the 2014 Sochi Olympics in Russia.

After the Russia trip, Nevils alleged further encounters took place, which NBC later referred to as ‘alleged inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace,’ before she filed a complaint in 2017, according to People.

Lauer denied the allegation, saying the encounter was consensual.

The ‘sloppy seconds’ comment, which has since been deleted, triggered a wave of backlash online, with critics saying it made light of rape allegations and relied on misogynistic and degrading language.

Conservative radio host Erick Erickson slammed the remark in an X post, writing: ‘A campaign that can’t help but make rape jokes about a rape victim will be unable to avoid antisemitic jokes about Jon Ossoff. Mike Collins’s campaign needs to go away.’

Steve Guest, former staffer for Texas Sen Ted Cruz, added: ‘Mike Collins is paying for this trash.’

‘After Collins made fun of rape victims, his paid online operation doubles down on the disgusting content,’ he added. ‘This is not a serious operation. It’s a dirtbag circus.’

Collins addressed the comment in a statement on X hours later, calling the language ‘despicable and unauthorized.’

‘Earlier today, a campaign advisor sent out a despicable and unauthorized twitter comment using a Team Collins campaign account,’ Collins wrote.

‘The statement was made without my knowledge or approval and in no way represents or reflects my values or the values of this campaign,’ he added.

‘I want to apologize for this offensive tweet. I have made staffing changes to ensure this type of behavior never happens again.’

Nevils began her career at NBC in New York City in 2008, working at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, before eventually becoming a producer in 2014, a role that involved 60-hour workweeks, she previously told Arts & Sciences.

While Lauer was fired just one day after the complaint, additional allegations from other individuals soon emerged, prompting NBC to issue a statement, according to People.

‘Matt Lauer’s conduct was appalling, horrific and reprehensible, as we said at the time,’ the network wrote.

‘That’s why he was fired within 24 hours of us first learning of the complaint. Our hearts break again for our colleague.’

In Farrow’s book, Nevils detailed how her mental health deteriorated following the alleged incident, eventually leading her to take a leave of absence that became permanent.

She said she developed post-traumatic stress disorder after filing the complaint and spent time in a psychiatric ward, describing feeling ‘so worthless and damaged that the world would be better off without me.’ She also allegedly attempted suicide.

In 2019, NBC said: ‘Matt Lauer’s conduct was appalling, horrific and reprehensible, as we said at the time. That’s why he was fired within 24 hours of us first learning of the complaint. Our hearts break again for our colleague.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Nevils, Thompson, Lauer and Collins for comment.

MEMORISE: And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. – Isaiah 30:21 (KJV)

READ: Genesis 26:1-6 (KJV)

1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

Open Heaven 24 May 2026 MESSAGE

Spiritual discernment is crucial for every Christian, especially when making critical life decisions such as choosing a marriage partner, where to live, and who to associate with. Some Christians have married evil people disguised as angels of light because they lacked spiritual discernment. They embraced Jezebels and Nabal’s idolatrous and foolish people who can lead them astray and ruin their lives.

Believers need God’s direction to know the right people to marry. For example, when Abraham wanted to choose a wife for Isaac, he gave his servant specific instructions about the type of woman who would be suitable for his son and fit to partake in the covenant God had made with him (Genesis 24:1-8). He told his servant to go to his country and kindred to take a wife for Isaac. This is the first criterion for a Christian’s choice in marriage; he or she must marry a fellow Christian because our country as believers is heaven. Some believers have disregarded this criterion to their detriment.

Apart from a believer ensuring that whoever he or she wants to get married to is a Christian, it is also crucial to ask God to show him or her the right person among His numerous children. Some Christian ladies have been carried away by a suitor’s charisma, so they didn’t ask God if he was a suitable spouse for them or not. Likewise, some Christian men have allowed a lady’s commitment in church to blind them to what God is saying about her character. When it comes to the issue of marriage, a believer cannot afford to be carried away by external things and miss the Holy Spirit’s direction. If you are still single, I pray that you will allow the Lord, and not your emotions, physical preferences, or human calculations, to guide you in your choice of a marriage partner, in Jesus’ name.

Where to live is another crucial decision that requires spiritual discernment. In Genesis 13:10-13, Lot didn’t inquire from God before choosing to pitch his tent towards Sodom. He found himself in the midst of sinners and wicked people, and eventually, he lost his home when God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of the sins of their inhabitants. Only spiritually discerning people will know whether God wants them to relocate or not, and where to relocate to.

Beloved, don’t make critical life decisions based solely on your judgment and understanding. Seek God’s counsel and remain spiritually discerning to know what He wants you to do.

Suspect Dies Following Gunfire Incident Near White House Security Checkpoint, Reports Secret Service

A gunman was fatally shot by officers after opening fire at a White House security checkpoint on Saturday, according to the U.S. Secret Service. This marks the third shooting incident near President Donald Trump in just a month.

In a preliminary statement shared on X, the Secret Service detailed that the individual, situated near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, drew a gun from a bag and began shooting shortly after 6 p.m. ET. Officers at the scene responded by firing back, striking the suspect, who was then transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

The suspect has been identified as 21-year-old Nasire Best, revealed a law enforcement official preferring to remain unnamed due to the confidential nature of the investigation.

District of Columbia court records show that Best was previously arrested in July 2025 after attempting to breach another White House checkpoint without authorization. Ignoring officers’ commands, he reportedly claimed to be Jesus Christ and expressed a desire to be detained.

Following an initial court hearing, a “Pretrial Stay Away Order” was issued, which typically restricts a defendant from approaching certain areas or individuals before a trial. However, after failing to appear at a subsequent hearing, Best was issued a bench warrant in August for noncompliance.

It was the third time in the past month that gunfire has broken out near the president following incidents at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in April and near the Washington Monument earlier in May.

A bystander was also struck on Saturday, but a law enforcement official said it wasn’t clear whether that person was struck by the suspect’s initial bullets or those fired subsequently by officers.

Secret Service said none of its officers were injured, and that Trump — who was at the White House at the time — was not “impacted.”

Journalists working at the White House on Saturday evening reported hearing a series of gunshots and were told to seek shelter inside the press briefing room.

In a social media post, FBI Director Kash Patel said officers were responding to shots fired and said he would “update the public as we’re able.”

Evidence of the shooting was visible on a sidewalk just outside the White House complex, where yellow crime scene tape snaked across the pavement and officers with the U.S. Secret Service placed dozens of orange evidence markers on the ground. Medical material, including what appeared to be purple surgical gloves and kits typically used by emergency medical personnel, were also seen.

In a post shared on X, ABC News senior White House correspondent Selina Wang shared dramatic video of the moment she said she heard what “sounded like dozens of gunshots” and ducked for cover. Writing that she had been performing a routine task that White House reporters do daily — filming themselves on a cellphone for a social media post — Wang’s video shows her speaking for a few seconds about Trump’s statements earlier Saturday about a potential Iran deal.

As the sounds of gunfire are heard in the background, Wang’s eyes grow wider, and she ducks down in the media tent, which is among those situated in a line along the White House driveway where broadcasters film their reports. On X, Wang’s video had been shared thousands of times as of Saturday evening, and viewed at least 3 million times.

The Metropolitan Police Department said on its X account that the Secret Service was working the scene and cautioned people to avoid the area. The scene is near where a gunman ambushed two members of the West Virginia National Guard last November.

U.S. Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, died from her wounds. Andrew Wolfe, then 24, was critically wounded. Rahmanullah Lakanwal has been charged in that incident.

The gunfire Saturday comes nearly a month after what law enforcement authorities said was an attempted assassination of the president on April 25 as he attended the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at a Washington hotel. Cole Tomas Allen, of Torrance, California, recently pleaded not guilty to charges that he attempted to kill Trump and remains in federal custody.

Following that scare, Secret Service officers shot a suspect they said had fired at officers near the Washington Monument, also near the White House. Michael Marx, 45, of Midland, Texas, was charged in a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in connection with the May 4 shooting. A teenage bystander was wounded in that incident.

DCLM Daily Manna 24 May 2026 — Supremacy Of God Over Dagon

DCLM Daily Manna 24 May 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Supremacy Of God Over Dagon

TOPIC: Supremacy Of God Over Dagon (DCLM Daily Manna 24 May 2026)

KEY VERSE: And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him – 1 Samuel 5:4

TEXT: 1 Samuel 5:1-5 (KJV)

1 And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod.

2 When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

3 And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.

4 And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

5 Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon’s house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Reverend James Johnson, a prominent Anglican clergyman, identified idolatry as a significant obstacle to the spread of Christianity in parts of West Africa, in the 1880s. In his biography, Holy Johnson, he lamented, “It is not easy work to root out heathenism from the minds of our people; at the sound of every heathen drum they seem to think fondly of olden days.”

In our text, the Philistines defeated Israel, captured the ark of the Lord, the symbol of God’s presence in Israel, placed the ark next to the image of Dagon to demonstrate the supposed superiority of Dagon over Jehovah. Similarly, Dagon was the chief idol in Mesopotamia at the time. It was variously worshipped as the god of fertility, protection god and their creator. The expectation of the Philistines and the symbolism was reversed when Dagon was toppled, and its hands were cut off, thus illustrating the inability of idols to create or save.

Today, people worship idols in various forms. These idols are not restricted to carved images or statues. As Ed Stetzer, an American expert on mission studies, observed, idolatry exists whenever we look to someone or something in the world around us to save or satisfy us. Another great man of God declared, “If you love anything better than God, you are an idolater; If there is anything you would not give up for God, it is your idol; If there is anything you seek with greater fervour than you seek the glory of God, that is your idol, and conversion means turning from every idol.”

Although mankind has always been tempted to place idols on the same pedestal as Almighty God, yet, the Lord will always prove His supremacy. God declares, “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Vain religions produce counterfeit gods.

Three Generations of Women Charged in Disturbing Case Involving 7-Year-Old’s Alleged Abuse

Prosecutors have announced that three generations of women are facing serious charges related to the “sadistic abuse” and torture of 7-year-old Jor’Dynn Duncan, who was found with approximately 90 injuries on her body at the time of her death.

Emily Kelly, aged 50, has been charged with second-degree murder. Her mother, 75-year-old Barbara Renner, is facing charges including second-degree manslaughter, as detailed in a statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Additionally, Kelly’s daughter, 24-year-old Elyssa Seymore, is charged with unlawful imprisonment in relation to Duncan’s tragic death.

According to court records obtained by Oxygen, all three women have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney commented on the case, stating, “Today, my office is announcing the indictment against three co-defendants following a comprehensive grand jury investigation into the alleged prolonged torture, abuse, and horrific murder of a defenseless, innocent child placed in their care. This was not an alleged isolated incident of violence; it involved months of systematic cruelty and sadistic abuse, meticulously documented. The child was allegedly left to suffer while these defendants reportedly watched her condition worsen. No child should ever experience such terror, and we are committed to seeking justice for Jor’Dynn.”

Jor’Dynn Duncan Allegedly Died of Massive Untreated Infection

Prosecutors revealed that the Suffolk County Child Protective Services had placed Duncan in Kelly’s care in December 2024, as she was engaged to the child’s father. Kelly was granted full custody and guardianship in April 2025.

Months later, on Dec. 29 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Kelly called 911 to report that Duncan was in cardiac arrest, according to the statement. Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed the 7-year-old to the hospital, where she died.

According to prosecutors, an autopsy determined she had suffered approximately 90 injuries to her body and died from a massive untreated infection caused by sharp force injuries allegedly inflicted on the child.

During the investigation into her death, homicide detectives found “extensive photographic and video evidence” on Kelly’s cell phone and other devices that allegedly documented the “prolonged abuse and torture of the victim,” prosecutors said in the statement. The images showed the child in prolonged restraint and documented physical injuries.

“Following her death, it was discovered that Jor’Dynn missed approximately 40 days of school between January 2025 and June 2025,” prosecutors said. “Kelly allegedly provided fabricated excuses involving different illnesses, deaths in the family, and a trip to Disneyworld [sic]—all of which were allegedly used to conceal the abuse.”

What Are the Charges Against Emily Kelly and Her Family?

All three women entered not guilty pleas at their arraignments on May 20, according to court records.

Kelly is facing charges of murder in the second-degree, reckless endangerment, unlawful imprisonment and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and is being held on a $5 million cash or a $10 million bond, prosecutors said. If convicted, they added that Kelly—who’s next court date is June 23—could face up to 25 years behind bars on the second-degree murder charge.

Her attorney John LoTurco told her client had no prior criminal history and has denied the allegations against her.

“To be clear she has not been charged nor has ever been implicated to be associated with the untimely death of Jordyn Duncan on December 29, 2025,” Fernandez said. “The charges of the alleged unlawful imprisonment stem from a three day period in July of 2025. We are refraining from further comment at this time and asking to allow my client to have the process to play out as she is entitled to.”

Police urged anyone who saw the sisters near Madeira Drive between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to come forward.

Chief Superintendent Adam Hays said investigators would “leave no stone unturned” as authorities work to determine what led to the deaths of the three sisters.

“I know this incident has had a profound impact on the local community in Brighton, and across the country, and I’d like to reassure the public we will leave no stone unturned in our investigation to understand exactly what led to the tragic events of that Wednesday morning,” Hays said in a statement.

“This investigation will continue in earnest, with Jane, Christina and Rebecca’s family at its center. I would ask that they are given the privacy to come to terms with this terrible tragedy,” Hays added.

The sisters’ father, Joseph, closed his message in dedication to the spirits of his three daughters:

“Though you are no longer here beside us, your spirits live on in our hearts every day. Love like yours never dies. You will forever remain a part of our lives, our prayers, and our memories,” Joseph said.
