Marion County Firefighters Set to Reverse Pleas in Shocking Hazing Case Unravel

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – In a notable development, three firefighters from Marion County, previously accused of hazing a rookie, are set to alter their pleas in court this Thursday.

Seth Day, Edward Kenny, and Tate Trauthwein, who had earlier maintained their innocence against charges of battery and false imprisonment, will attend a hearing at 10 a.m. Prosecutors are expected to present the specifics of a new plea agreement during the session.

The accusations stem from an incident captured on video last November at Fire Station 21, where a 19-year-old firefighter was reportedly pinned to the ground. Authorities allege that Trauthwein removed the victim’s belt and pants. Further claims include the three firefighters assaulting the victim and restricting his ability to leave the premises.

Investigators disclosed that the victim endured waterboarding, where a towel was placed over his head while water was poured onto him. The ordeal purportedly ended only because the firefighters were called away for an emergency.

Kalyee Bradley, another firefighter, faced charges of robbery for allegedly seizing the victim’s phone, reportedly to access an embarrassing TikTok video. However, these charges against Bradley have since been dismissed.

Six other Marion County Fire Rescue employees also lost their jobs in connection with the incident.

Anouska, who is known to be close pals with Molly-Mae Hague, also shared a tattoo tribute to her baby girl as she had a butterfly inking with Paisley written next to it on her hand.

Friends and fans of the couple rushed to the comments to send their congratulations.

Luke and Anouska have been together since at least May 2017 and regularly share holiday photo together.

The couple live at their luxury £2.8 million Cheshire home with their children and have previously been seen throwing huge birthday parties for their kids at the property.

Luke missed out on the Manchester United win over Crystal Palace over the weekend due to ‘illness’ which is presumed down to him welcoming his fourth child.

Head coach Michael Carrick provided an update on his United squad, ahead of Wednesday night’s Premier League clash at Newcastle United.

The team moved into third place with the weekend win over Crystal Palace and are looking to extend an unbeaten run to 12 games.

During a briefing with broadcasters at Carrington, head coach Carrick was asked about the availability of Shaw and Harry Maguire, after they were withdrawn due to feeling ill in the victory over Palace.

‘Yeah, we’re hoping so,’ he replied about their involvement at St James’ Park. ‘We’re working towards it.

‘They weren’t feeling too good. We’ve still got a little bit of time to the game and we will just have to see how they feel. So we’ll obviously give them every chance.

‘No, it wasn’t injury, it’s just both of them weren’t feeling too good. So, yeah, it’s one of those things really. But we’ll just have to see how they are today and tomorrow morning.’

It comes after Luke kick started the year being forced to shrugged off criticism from fans, after sparking a wave of backlash by taking part in viral TikTok trend.

The footballer angered Manchester United supporters after featuring in the ’embarrassing’ video at a lavish New Year’s Eve party.

The clip saw Luke and his wife Anouska join their pals, including influencer Molly-Mae, in miming along to Mugshot Freestyle (The Northern Boys Remix).

But viewers weren’t amused by the England star mouthing the line ‘Your mum’s on benefits’, while he rakes in £150,000 a week at Man United.

The club’s fans took to social media to blast the injured player, while highlighting the Red Devils’ current struggles.

However, Luke’s friends have claimed that he is unbothered by the backlash, having ‘grown a thick skin’ due to his long sporting career.

Speaking to The Sun, one pal explained: ‘Luke Shaw is used to the backlash he gets on a daily basis and has people joking around with him about the fact he gets paid more for being off the pitch than he does on the pitch as he’s always injured.

‘Even though the TikTok video was filmed at a private gathering, it ended up going viral, but Luke didn’t have a problem with it.

‘To him, it was just a bit of light-hearted fun. He’s so used to the abuse he doesn’t let it bother him.’

California Gas Prices Surge Beyond $6 Amid Ongoing National Increase

0

California tops the list for the highest gas prices in the United States, with an average of $6.01 per gallon. Trailing behind are Hawaii and Washington, where drivers are paying $5.643 and $5.570 per gallon, respectively.

WASHINGTON — As global tensions continue to affect oil markets, the average cost of gasoline in the U.S. sees a notable rise, increasing around seven cents on Thursday alone. The West Coast is feeling the pinch most acutely, with California’s average surpassing the $6 mark.

Data from AAA indicates that the national average reached $4.300 on Thursday, marking an increase of approximately 27 cents compared to the previous week. This figure represents the highest level in almost four years.

The recent surge in prices is largely attributed to ongoing worries about interruptions in the global oil supply, particularly concerning the instability near the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passageway responsible for transporting about 20% of the world’s oil.

This upward trend contrasts with the situation earlier in April, when prices saw a temporary decline amidst hopes for reduced overseas tensions.

California leads the nation in gas prices at $6.01 per gallon, followed by Hawaii at $5.643 and Washington at $5.570. Rural Mono County, Calif., near the Nevada border and Yosemite National Park, had average gas prices just under $7 on Thursday.

More states are now nearing or surpassing the $5 mark, including Oregon ($5.152) and Nevada ($5.129), as higher costs spread beyond the West Coast. Meanwhile, drivers in parts of the South and Great Plains are still seeing comparatively lower prices. The states with the lowest average prices are Oklahoma ($3.708), Kansas ($3.756) and Georgia ($3.757).

Diesel also rose nationally on Thursday, spiking by about three cents for a nationwide average of $5.496.

Experts say prices could continue to fluctuate in the coming days, depending on developments in global oil supply and geopolitical tensions.

Why are prices going up?

The increase comes as negotiations appear to have stalled between the U.S. and Iran.

Trump last week indefinitely extended the ceasefire the U.S. and Iran agreed to on April 7, which has largely halted fighting. But a permanent settlement remains elusive in the war that has killed thousands of people.

But the president later in the week recalled diplomats he planned to sent to Pakistan for continued negotiations, citing a lack of good faith from Iran.

“If they want, we can talk, but we’re not sending people,” Trump told Fox News on Sunday. He said earlier on social media: “All they have to do is call!!!”

Instead, Iranian officials met with Russian leaders, bringing together two countries that the U.S. is adversarial towards.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday in St. Petersburg, Russian state news agency Tass said. Putin praised the Iranian people as “bravely and heroically fighting for their sovereignty,” and said Russia would do everything possible to bring peace to the Middle East, Tass reported.

Araghchi said before the meeting in a video interview posted by Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency that it was “a good opportunity for us to consult with our Russian friends about the developments that have occurred in relation to the war during this period and what is happening now.”

Why might prices differ from one gas station to the next?

Although the national average passed $4 a gallon, the price that drivers pay varies widely by state, city and station.

Taxes alone can create large gaps. California’s gas taxes and fees totaled about 71 cents per gallon last year, compared with roughly 9 cents in Alaska.

Distance from refineries, the type of retailer, the volume the location goes through, and whether there are other fuel options nearby also play a role.

Gas stations near competitors may choose to price gasoline competitively on large outdoor signs to attract drivers, hoping they’ll come inside and buy higher-margin items, said Neal Walters, a partner focused on energy at the global management consulting firm Kearney.

“It’s one of the only retail locations where you don’t have to go into the store to find out what you’re paying,” Walters said.

Why are gas and diesel prices elevated?

Prices began to rise sharply after the U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran on Feb. 28, which led to escalating tensions and military conflicts across the Middle East, where a large majority of global oil is sourced and distributed.

While not the sole factor for rising costs, volatile trade routes and other uncertainties in production have led to higher prices of crude oil, which is refined to make diesel, gasoline and jet fuel.

Brent crude oil topped $125 on Thursday, driving higher fuel costs. Rising diesel and jet fuel prices are also expected to increase transportation and air travel costs, potentially pushing up prices for goods across supply chains.

Highest average gas prices ever?

The record for the highest average price of a regular gallon of gas was set on June 14, 2022, with a national average of just over $5 during the early months of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The highest recorded average gallon of diesel, $5.816, came just five days later on June 19, 2022.

Juror in High-Profile Stabbing Case Accused of New Stabbing Incidents, Court Documents Reveal

A convicted murderer in Washington State is raising concerns over a juror involved in his recent trial, claiming that this juror has a violent history similar to his own.

Kevin Rodriguez, 35, was found guilty by a Snohomish County jury of second-degree murder in the death of 56-year-old Evodio Garcia Martinez. Additionally, the jury convicted Rodriguez on two counts of assault for knife attacks on two other individuals.

Rodriguez alleges that one juror in his trial has a known tendency to engage in knife-related assaults. Based on this claim, Rodriguez is seeking a new trial, arguing that the juror’s background compromises the fairness of the proceedings.

Previously, in 2021, Rodriguez was convicted of manslaughter related to the same incident but successfully appealed for a new trial. Representing himself, he was convicted again on April 10, according to the Seattle Times.

The events in question took place on the night of February 9, 2019, in an apartment in Monroe, a city approximately 30 miles northwest of Seattle, nestled within the larger metropolitan area.

Garcia Martinez was asleep on the couch when he was stabbed to death. When his friends returned home from a night out at the casino, they found Rodriguez standing in the dark, wielding two butcher knives. A skirmish ensued, and two of the roommates were slashed and stabbed before Rodriguez was subdued with copper wire.

“I hurt him, I hurt him,” the killer repeated to police, according to court documents obtained by The Daily Herald.

Fast-forward through all the court proceedings, the yearslong appeal process, the firing of all legal counsel, and the pro se defense. Now, Rodriguez says he deserves trial number three.

On April 13, two people were stabbed at a townhome in South Everett by a 20-year-old man who reportedly suffers from schizophrenia, according to the new trial motion obtained by the Times.

The recent incident occurred at a residence near 112th Street Southwest and State Route 99, according to Seattle-based Fox affiliate KCPQ.

On the night in question, Connor Wohlleben forced his way inside and began stabbing people, according to law enforcement. The man was reportedly known by at least some of the residents.

Eventually, a 22-year-old woman at the residence put Wohlleben into a chokehold until deputies arrived.

“Absolutely courageous of the 22-year-old,” Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe said. “Her actions potentially saved the lives of her family members and herself.”

Wohlleben was arrested on suspicion of one count of burglary and two counts of first-degree assault.

Earlier this month, a judge set the South Everett man’s bail at $500,000, according to a courtroom report by Seattle-based ABC affiliate KOMO. He is still detained as of this writing, jail records show.

Wohlleben is also reportedly “juror 14” from Rodriguez’s latest trial.

The defense claims the South Everett stabber told the victims he was “sent by Jesus” and was the “right hand of Jesus” during the incident – allegations which were echoed by law enforcement, KSPQ reported.

The new trial motion cites “juror misconduct” as well as myriad objections to elements of the trial – including witness and defense testimony – and other non-trial proceedings in the case.

As for juror 14, the new trial motion is requesting an evidentiary hearing to investigate his mental state during trial and deliberation.

Rodriguez is currently slated to be sentenced on May 13.

Authorities Investigate Property Owned by Former Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s Partner

Queensland Police have searched a luxury beachside unit owned by prominent surgeon Dr Reza Adib, the partner of former premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

This afternoon, the usually serene beachside area of Burleigh Heads became the focus of police activity as officers were observed entering and exiting a particular unit. They were seen carrying out bags filled with what appeared to be evidence.

The police clarified that this evidence collection is part of an ongoing investigation. Despite the flurry of activity, no charges have been filed at this time.

Importantly, authorities emphasized that Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is not implicated in the investigation. In fact, it’s possible she has no knowledge of the events unfolding at the location.

It’s worth noting that Palaszczuk and her partner have been in a relationship since 2021, adding a layer of public interest to the situation.

Nick Reiner’s Eerie Courtroom Appearance Leaves Onlookers Baffled: A Chilling Turn of Events

0

Nick Reiner, son of Hollywood legend Rob Reiner, made a court appearance on Wednesday as he faces severe accusations linked to the brutal stabbing deaths of his parents.

Appearing tense and pale, Nick sat in handcuffs before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Sam Ohta. Dressed in a yellow jail uniform paired with blue pants, his hair was cropped short and uneven.

The 32-year-old Reiner has entered a plea of not guilty to six felony charges. These include two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of special circumstances due to multiple murders, and two charges related to the use of a deadly weapon, specifically a knife.

According to the prosecution, Nick allegedly murdered his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, at their $13.5 million home in the affluent Brentwood area of Los Angeles on December 14. They claim he inflicted fatal stab wounds before fleeing the scene.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, a visibly slimmer Reiner seemed bewildered as Judge Ohta inquired if he consented to postponing his case until a subsequent court session in September.

After whispered advice from his attorney, public defender Kimberly Greene, he looked up and said softly ‘yes’ in agreement to the judge’s request for him to appear again September 15 when a date will be set for a full preliminary hearing into the evidence prosecutors have.

Greene told the court Wednesday that she is still waiting for prosecutors to hand over some discovery evidence to her.

Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Chong responded, ‘We are still waiting for the autopsy reports on both victims.’

Reiner – who has been in custody since his arrest – will remain in jail until that September 15 hearing.

Nick, who has a long history of mental health issues, was seen having a loud argument with his father at a holiday party thrown by TV’s Conan O’Brien just hours before his parents’ bodies were found, reportedly by his younger sister Romy.

Nathan Hochman, the LA District attorney, has said that the death penalty is on the table for Reiner if he is convicted.

‘This case is a death penalty eligible case.’ he declared after an earlier hearing. ‘Along those lines we take the process in which we determine whether or not the death penalty should be sought extremely seriously. That goes through a very rigorous process.

‘We will be looking at all mitigating and aggravating circumstances, and we have invited defense council to present to us both in writing and in a pleading, any arguments they would like to make in consideration going forward or not going forward with the death penalty. So that is an ongoing process.’

Earlier this week, Nick’s older brother Jake shared his horror at finding out that his beloved parents – who were married for 36 years – had been murdered and that his younger brother Nick was charged with their slayings.

In a gut-wrenching essay on the website Substack, the 34 year-old described the moment his sister Romy, 28, gave him the nightmare news.

Describing it as ‘too devastating to comprehend’, Jake said. ‘The only thing I could focus on was that I needed to get to my childhood home. I needed to get to my sister. I needed to figure out what the hell just happened.

‘I was robbed of so many things that day. My parents won’t be at my wedding, they won’t get to hold their future grandchild, and they won’t get to see me have the successful career I’m still seeking. It simultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me.’

Jake said that while still reeling from learning of his parents’ deaths, he was horrified to then learn that his brother Nick was the alleged murderer.

‘We lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable,’ he wrote.

‘Sure, any loss of a parent is devastating, but nothing compares to losing both of them at the same time and, on top of that, having your brother be at the center of it. It’s almost too impossible to process.’

Jake said that almost six months on from the murders he is still stunned that a member of his own family allegedly killed his parents.

‘Every day since then has been horrendous,’ he wrote. ‘Every meeting we take, every person we talk to, every tear we shed, every movement we make is connected to our parents being murdered.’

Jake wrote of the anguish he and his sister Romy have endured since their parents’ murders, while not mentioning Nick by name and only referring to him as ‘my brother.’

He said he and his sister have continued suffering, even as their parents’ high-profile deaths left the spotlight, writing that ‘when you are not living through a tragedy the specific way Romy and I are, it’s hard to wrap your head around just how horrific this has been.’

‘Because they weren’t your parents, it might be easier to move forward or even forget for a moment about what happened that day,’ he wrote. ‘But for us, it’s every single day.’

Jake paid touching tributes to his parents, saying that they were ‘the center of my life.’

‘They are my guiding lights, the foundation of who I am as a human being, and the most giving people I have ever known,’ he wrote.

‘A lot of people don’t have the luxury of having the best parents, the best mom, or the best dad, but I did. The love they have for me, my brother, and my sister is truly unconditional.

‘And the love they have for each other in their marriage is something I always looked up to as the standard of what a successful relationship looks like.’

While his famous father was a Hollywood legend, Jake described his mother, Michele, as ‘the engine, the backbone, and the heart of our entire family.’

‘She had a passion for life most people wish they could attain.’

He wrote of watching musicals with his mother and going to baseball games with his father, and acknowledged his privileged upbringing as the son of celebrities.

‘It’s not lost on me that I was able to have these incredible experiences, that most people don’t get to have, because of who my parents were,’ he wrote.

‘But I would trade every Dodger game, every Broadway show, every vacation, if I could just spend just one more hour talking to them and to say goodbye.’

Chris, 30, he certainly looks the part of a superhero, as a collared shirt and a thick suit weren’t enough to hide his wide shoulders, bulging biceps and impressive bulked up frame.

Meanwhile Elsa, who’s seven years his senior at 37, sported a navy dress that featured white polka dots.

She doted on her superhero husband during the game, seen holding his face and looking on affectionately.

They were something of a matchy couple, both sporting shortened hair and wide rimmed sunnies.

Stolen Drones with Chemical Capabilities Pose National Security Threat, Warns Former DHS Official

0

Federal authorities have successfully recovered 15 industrial drones that were stolen and have the capability to disperse liquid chemicals. However, a former official from the Department of Homeland Security raises a significant concern: were these drones taken for financial gain, or is there a more sinister intent involving national security?

The drones in question, 15 Ceres Air C31 industrial spray models, were initially reported missing from CAC International, a logistics and shipping firm based in Harrison, New Jersey, on March 24. According to The High Side Substack, the recovery occurred more than a month later, on April 27, in Dover, New Jersey.

The New Jersey State Police previously informed Fox News that the drones were located at Prudent Corporation, a trucking company with a warehouse in the area.

On April 27th, the New Jersey State Police Cargo Theft Unit managed to retrieve the stolen agricultural drones and their spray systems. These drones are specifically designed for agricultural use, functioning as registered crop dusters. The theft took place at CAC International in Harrison, NJ, with the drones eventually found at Prudent Corporation in Dover, NJ. The investigation remains active, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations and Customs and Border Protection. Further details have not been disclosed, according to a statement from the New Jersey State Police.

Agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) were responsible for recovering the drones on April 27, as noted by HSI Newark.

Despite the drones being recovered, Vincent Martinez, former DHS tactical terrorism response team member and director of service enhancement at ZeroEyes, told Fox News Digital that he “cannot underscore the risk that this poses.”

While Martinez said it’s good the drones were recovered, he warned the biggest questions remain unanswered.

“Where were these intended to land? Who is the ultimate end user? Were they meant simply as a quick buck — or to facilitate action against the homeland?” he said.

In the wrong hands, Martinez warned, the drones could “absolutely” pose a “substantial threat,” particularly if loaded with a chemical agent and deployed over a populated area, which he believes is the primary concern.

“Because of its design and nature, that is the absolute primary concern in and of itself. Who’s actually conducting the thefts, where they’re going to, who’s funding and financing these? It’s a litany of different phases of escalation that we have to actually look at when we’re conducting the investigation,” Martinez said.

He said it’s “not difficult” for an adversary to weaponize these kinds of drones with the proper training and knowledge.

“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to go into the root menu of a lot of these hardware systems. What it does take is a lot of open source knowledge and an acumen to be technically savvy and technically sound. You can break into almost any drone platform. And there are a lot of laws and regulations specifically by the FAA that prevent that. But I would argue that using these against an adversary or against a homeland, let’s just say, it’s not difficult. You just have to know how to research how to do it,” Martinez said.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Ceres Air said “at no point was there a risk of unauthorized use.”

“Ceres systems are built with multiple layers of control, including secure activation protocols, remote lock capability, and separated battery logistics. Without proper authorization, these units cannot be operated,” the company said.

“This situation highlights a broader reality in the drone industry. When systems are built and supported domestically, there is accountability. Our equipment is fully traceable through serial tracking and coordinated support networks, all of which exist within the USA. It doesn’t disappear, and it doesn’t operate outside of controlled channels. We build our systems in the United States so they can be tracked, secured, and supported here. That’s exactly what allowed this situation to be resolved quickly and without risk.”

In total, a Ceres Air C31 costs around $58,000, meaning that nearly $870,000 of equipment was allegedly stolen.

The drones were allegedly stolen by a delivery driver who duped the company, according to The High Side Substack. The report said that a fraudulent bill of lading was shown when picking up the drones, and CAC International allegedly considered them legitimate.

Goldie Hawn Shares the Secret to Her Enduring 43-Year Romance with Kurt Russell

Goldie Hawn, after spending 40 years with Kurt Russell, treasures the “freedom” she continues to experience in their enduring partnership.

The iconic actress is on the cusp of releasing her debut children’s book, “The After-School Kindness Crew: Pooch on the Loose,” co-authored with Lin Oliver, set for a May 5 launch. She recently shared insights into this fresh venture and reflected on how her bond with Russell has only strengthened over their 43-year relationship.

“My life’s mission is to be happy. My life’s mission is to be an example for my children and my family,” Hawn, who turned 80 in November, told People.

“As you age, challenges increase. Your outlook on life, how you cherish each moment, and how you nourish your mind all become crucial. I always remind myself, ‘Right now, everything is fantastic.’”

This includes her enduring romance with Russell.

She explained that she still feels “freedom” with him, saying, “When I say freedom, it means liberation. I don’t feel penned in,” said Hawn, saying she and Russell are the “right match.”

“We don’t always agree on stuff, which is fine. We’re both very spontaneous. [Our relationship] fed on a lot of goodness, a lot of wonderful life together.”

Hawn has two children, Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, from her previous marriage to Bill Hudson, while Russell shares son Boston Russell with ex-wife Season Hubley. Hawn and Russell, who started dating in 1983, later welcomed son Wyatt Russell.

In 2024, during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” the Academy Award-winning actress opened up about her and Russell’s joint love for their family and explained why it’s the “sticking glue” to their relationship.

“We don’t agree on everything,” Hawn said in a clip shared with People. “His politics are different than mine. You know, there’s all these things that could divide you. But the one thing that we have, the greatest thing in God’s world, is our family.

“That is where we thrive and where we have incredible amounts of joy and really focus on that.”

Despite their differences, Hawn said the attraction stemmed from Russell’s “focus on the children.”

“He is a family man,” Hawn said. “I can’t explain it, but he was the one for me. It wasn’t just because he was sexy and handsome and all of those things you get turned on by; it was because he matched my devotion to children to be No. 1. The seduction was really his personality and his focus on the children.”

Their daughter, Kate Hudson, had similar sentiments.

“They’ve been together 40 plus years. They are the center of our family,” Hudson told SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show” in 2024.

“I think from the outside it looks a certain way, but inside, our family is just nuts, in the best way. Everybody’s so different, but everyone wants to enjoy their life. There’s a lot of joie de vivre.

“Even in, like, debate or when people are upset with each other, it’s like we’ve got this life force in our family, and it’s so great.”

With the release of her new book, Hawn is embracing this next season in life.

“I think, ultimately, every life has to have its sections … Doing the same thing over and over again for your whole life is not as interesting to me,” Hawn told People.

“And I decided at probably 55 or something … ‘What are you going to do for this next part of your life?’ And I knew that there was more out there to learn and to do.”

Break Free from Silent Suffering: Doctor’s Advice on Managing Common Inflammatory Conditions in Women

The frequent dismissal of this chronic condition remains a significant challenge for the nearly 10% of women who experience it.

In a culture that often trivializes women’s pain, many doctors have been known to underestimate the severity of endometriosis complications. This tendency has led to the disorder being widely underreported, with experts noting that it can take a decade or more for a proper diagnosis to be made.

Dr. Sheeva Talebian, a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and the director of third-party reproduction at CCRM New York, finds this trend deeply troubling.

“Enduring pain shouldn’t be considered part of being a woman,” she told The Post. “We need to eliminate the ‘grin and bear it’ mentality where women are expected to endure severe pain without complaint.”

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting menstruating women, characterized by the growth of uterine-lining tissue outside the uterus. This tissue typically appears on other reproductive organs but can also be found on the bowels or bladder, and in very rare cases, on distant areas like the lungs.

Because it can be so excruciating, endometriosis-related pelvic pain is often the first symptom associated with the disorder. Not all endometriosis patients experience pelvic pain, which only makes it harder to diagnose. (Current diagnostic tools include uterine biopsies or MRIs that look for inflammatory markers.)

Other symptoms include fatigue, joint pain, shortness of breath, painful sex, irritable bowels, urinary frequency and infertility, among other things.

For the 30% of couples who experience unexplained infertility — or those whose fertility tests come back normal but who are having trouble conceiving — Talebian recommends asking a doctor if endometriosis may be at play, even if other classic symptoms like pelvic pain aren’t a factor.

Across the board, endometriosis patients frequently talk about how important it’s been for them to be their own loudest advocates in a doctor’s office. Talebian agrees.

“If a provider dismisses your pain as ‘normal,’ let that be your signal to find a new member for your care team,” she said. “You deserve a clinician who looks at the data, validates your experience and uses the tools we have to help you thrive.”

Even though there is no known cure for endometriosis — heck, there isn’t even a single “gold standard” diagnostic tool — Talebian insists there are some “science-backed” lifestyle changes that patients can make to manage the disorder, “whether your goal is to preserve your fertility for the future or simply to live a day without being sidelined by your symptoms.”

Outside of surgery to remove the uterus, there are some medical interventions — like a steady dose of estrogen and progestin hormones — to suppress ovulation, which leads to spikes in estrogen. Those spikes may worsen symptoms and disease, Talebian explained.

But a lot of endometriosis management comes down to lifestyle. Building a routine with as many anti-inflammatory elements as possible can go a long way in keeping the most disruptive symptoms at bay.

Talebian suggests regular exercise, acupuncture and potentially adding some inflammation-lowering supplements to your rotation, like coenzyme Q10 or turmeric.

Diet is another key lever. The Endometriosis Foundation recommends reducing consumption of processed foods, red meat and alcohol and replacing them with a Mediterranean diet rich in fruits, vegetables, oily fish, olive oil and nuts, which can help reduce inflammation in the body.

A 2022 scientific literature review echoed the call for omega-3-rich fish oil, plus getting enough C, D and E vitamins.

The study emphasized that “the management of endometriosis requires a holistic approach” and that dietitians can help with symptom management, especially in younger or early-stage patients.

“These lifestyle modifications, unfortunately, will not ‘cure’ the disease,” Talebian said, “but may help ease some symptoms and potentially slow progression.”
