Heat Dome Traps 50M Americans in Scorching 118F Temperatures

0

A formidable heat dome is enveloping the southern United States, promising to bring sweltering conditions to seven states, with temperatures in some regions expected to climb beyond 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued extreme heat warnings and advisories affecting over 50 million residents across Arizona, Arkansas, California, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas as of Monday.

Texas is predicted to bear the brunt of this oppressive heat, with cities including Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Lubbock, Odessa, and El Paso set to experience the effects of the massive high-pressure system dominating the Southwest.

Residents in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona; San Diego and Los Angeles, California; Shreveport, Louisiana; and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma are on alert for the potentially lethal combination of intense heat and high humidity, which is expected to persist until at least 8 PM local time today.

The heat warnings in California extend through Wednesday, while in Arizona, the hazardous weather conditions are anticipated to continue until Saturday night. This prolongs the risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke among local populations.

NWS said in a statement: ‘An Extreme Heat Warning means that a period of very hot temperatures, even by local standards, will occur.’

Temperatures in the Phoenix area are expected to reach between 106 and 118 degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoons this week.

In Texas, forecasters are bracing for near-record temperatures that could reach 112F in multiple areas on Monday, affecting roughly 25 million people in that state alone.

NWS described the conditions in Texas on Monday as ‘major’ or ‘extreme’ on their heat risk guidance chart – the two most serious levels on the five-stage alert system.

Extreme describes weather where there will be ‘no overnight relief’ from the heat, and conditions that will affect anyone who does not have air conditioning or fails to hydrate properly while outdoors.

Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and Houston have all been listed in the extreme heat zone on Monday.

By Wednesday, the worst of the heat and humidity has been projected to shift west, towards Arizona and Southern California, impacting Phoenix, Tucson and Los Angeles.

NWS officials urged: ‘Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.’

‘Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes,’ the added in their alert.

The forecasted high on Tuesday (114F) and Wednesday (116F) in Phoenix is expected to break or challenge the city’s single day records, which were set for both days back in 2011.

Multiple heat domes have formed over the US this year, starting unseasonably early in mid-March. Heat domes prevent both hot air and high humidity levels from rising into the atmosphere, acting like a lid over large portions of the US for days at a time.

For those who have to go outside, officials urged Americans to wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing and limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours.

The elderly, pregnant women, newborns, young children and those with chronic health problems such as heart disease, obesity or poor blood circulation are said to be at the highest risk from heat-related illnesses.

Signs of heat exhaustion, when the body overheats from prolonged exposure to hot weather, include heavy sweating, fatigue, developing cool, pale, clammy skin and a fast, weak pulse, muscle cramps, dizziness, nausea and headaches.

Heat stroke, which is far more deadly and can develop within 15 minutes in extremely hot conditions, often starts with a throbbing headache, confusion, slurred speech, nausea, dizziness and a fever above 103F.

Sufferers may also develop red, dry, or damp skin, a rapid pulse, and lose consciousness. It turns fatal when the body’s organs begin to fail.

The conditions in the Southwest are expected to exacerbate an already extreme drought throughout the region, which may soon lead to water shortages in several states.

The US Drought Monitor has noted that conditions in northern Texas, western Oklahoma and parts of New Mexico have reached the monitor’s most severe level of drought, called D4 or ‘exceptional drought.’

Large portions of nearby Colorado, Idaho and Oregon have also moved into this most severe drought status – increasing the risk of deadly wildfires throughout the western US this summer.

Season 35 of ‘Dancing With the Stars’: Meet the Cast and Latest Updates

The anticipation for season 35 of Dancing With the Stars is building as the cast begins to take shape.

In a thrilling announcement at the Get Real House event in April, Hulu both confirmed the renewal of the popular dance show and unveiled that Summer House’s Ciara Miller and Love Island’s Maura Higgins would join the lineup to compete on the dance floor. The excitement grew the following month with the addition of Savannah Bananas’ second baseman Jackson Olson to the contestant roster.

Season 35 promises to be memorable, following the impressive win by wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin and professional dancer Witney Carson, who claimed the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy last season. Irwin’s involvement in the upcoming season extends beyond his win, as he assists in selecting the next professional dancer for the show.

Discover more exciting details about the upcoming season of DWTS as we continue:

Which Celebrities Are Competing on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 35?

Just a month after the casting of Miller and Higgins was announced, further excitement ensued at Disney’s Upfront presentation. It was there that the participation of internet sensation and Savannah Bananas star Olson was confirmed. Then, in June 2026, ABC revealed that Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s beloved Guillermo Rodriguez would also bring his charisma to the dance floor, ready to glide with a cha-cha in the ballroom.

In August, sources confirmed to Us that Sarah Jane Nader, Conner Leavitt, Jenna Dewan and Bachelor Nation’s Tyler Cameron would be hitting the dance floor as well.

The full cast is expected to be officially announced via Good Morning America on September 2.

Which Pro Dancers Are Returning for ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 35?

All of the pro dancers returning for season 35 have yet to be announced. Miller, however, shared that she has a partner in mind.

“I’ve been campaigning for Val [Chmerkovskiy],” Miller told E! News during the May Met Gala livestream. “I don’t know if they hear me, but yeah, sending out some emails, putting my word in. We’ll see where everyone wants to place me.”

On August 27, ABC announced that Witney Carson will be partnered with Rodriguez when the competition returns for a two-night premiere on September 15 and 16. (Carson is currently pregnant with her third baby.)

One week later, ABC confirmed that Sharna Burgess will be returning to the ballroom. It will be her first time competing as a pro since season 30 in 2021.

Will There Be a New Pro Joining ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 35?

Before season 35 kicks off, fans will get a brand-new spinoff series. ABC announced in April that Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro will air this summer to find the next pro dancer for the main broadcast.

Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro features 12 exceptional up-and-coming dancers who move into one house and compete in a grueling audition process,” a logline reads. “[They are] all vying for a coveted spot as a pro dancer on season 35 of Dancing with the Stars.”

Season 34 winner Robert Irwin will host the show, with pro Mark Ballas and his mother, Shirley Ballas, serving as judges. The mother-son duo will be joined by a rotating panel of guest judges and mentors.

“For the first time in Dancing With the Stars history, the greatest dancers will compete for a spot as the next pro,” Irwin said in a trailer. “This summer, let the fiercest dance battle begin.”

When Does ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 35 Premiere?

The series is set to premiere this fall on ABC and Disney+. A specific date has not been announced yet.

Craig T. Nelson Honors Late ‘Coach’ Co-Star Shelley Fabares at Age 82

Craig T. Nelson, star of the beloved series “Coach,” offered a heartfelt tribute to his remarkable co-star Shelley Fabares, after news broke of her passing at the age of 82.

“Shelley was an exceptional and dignified woman… truly a pillar,” Nelson expressed in a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly. “Her presence was integral to my life throughout our time on ‘Coach.’ I shall dearly miss her.”

Nelson continued, reflecting, “Shelley was simply an extraordinary human. Her smile was ever-present, and she had an incredible way of bringing warmth amidst turmoil. She was a confidante not just for me, but for many. I’ll hold your memory with deep affection, Shelley Fabares.”

For nearly a decade, Nelson and Fabares portrayed a married couple on the hit series “Coach.”

The comedic sports-themed show centered around the passionate head coach Hayden Fox, played by Nelson, who led the Minnesota State University Screaming Eagles football team. The series explored his hectic life managing the demands of his career, quirky staff, and his relationship with his wife, Christine Armstrong, a news anchor portrayed by Fabares.

The show ran for nine seasons on ABC from 1989 to 1997.

“Coach” even earned Nelson the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 1992 and he was nominated in the same category in 1990 and 1991.

Fabares also received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Christine Armstrong.

In 1990, Fabares gushed over playing Nelson’s wife on the show in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

“The show is about the coach and the relationships in his life. There’s been more of a focus this year on Hayden’s and Christine’s relationship,” Fabares told the outlet.

“Obviously, I enjoy that. . . . I like how they have our relationship developing. I think Hayden and Christine are at an interesting point in their relationship where they are moving forward, but both are frightened.”

Over the weekend, Fabares’ family confirmed the actress’ death. The “Donna Reed Show” alum died the day prior following a brief illness, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“To her family and friends, Shelley was a source of love, strength, laughter, and comfort,” they shared in a statement to People.

Her loved ones described the late actress as a “devoted wife” and “loyal friend whose warmth, generosity, humor and grace made an enduring difference in the lives of everyone who knew her.”

The statement continued, “She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. For millions, Shelley was a beloved actress whose work became part of the fabric of American television and film.”

The family concluded their message by stating they will miss Fabares “deeply,” “not only as a celebrated performer, but as the loving and extraordinary person she was in our everyday lives.”

Pilot’s Heroic Maneuver Averts Disaster with Safe Water Landing of Disabled Plane

0

This past weekend, the bravery of a young pilot, just 23, was on full display as she executed a controlled ditching of her twin-engine Piper aircraft into the Atlantic waters off Boca Raton, Florida. Despite the intensity of the situation, she humbly credited others in her statement, downplaying her own heroic efforts.

Faith Tenkley expressed her thoughts in a statement to Fox News, saying, “My primary focus during the descent was to ensure the safety of everyone around me. I successfully navigated the aircraft toward open waters, diligently steering clear of nearby buildings, paddleboarders, swimmers, and even those wielding metal detectors.” Her words resonate with her profound sense of responsibility.

The gripping moments of Tenkley’s serene water landing on Saturday morning have gone viral across social media platforms. Bystanders watched with amazement, yet ironically, one man, absorbed in his metal detecting quest on the beach, seemed oblivious to the unfolding drama behind him.

FDNY DEPLOYS 140+ PERSONNEL TO JFK AFTER DELTA FLIGHT REPORTED WITH FLAT TIRES ON APPROACH TO LANDING

Tenkley, meanwhile, was dodging buildings and a busy beach while trying to find a safe way to land a crippled aircraft.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude for the concern and support following my unexpected water landing yesterday,” her Sunday statement began. “I am incredibly fortunate and relieved to share that I was able to swim away from this incident.

“After deciding a landing at Boca Raton Airport was not the safest option I continued to the coast.”

Cleared by air traffic control (ATC) to land on a runway, her landing gear was malfunctioning, leaving her concerned about a hard landing with a plane still full of fuel.

“I want to extend my thanks to ATC for being prepared, as well as the lifeguards, firefighters and the police officers whose rapid response and professionalism ensured everyone’s safety – as well as any witnesses who called for help,” her statement concluded. “Thank you all for your kind messages.”

Tenkley, who has been flying for four years, was the only person aboard her family’s twin-engine Piper PA-30 when it developed mechanical trouble Saturday on a flight from Page Field in Fort Myers, Florida, to Bimini in the Bahamas, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

She was flying to the Bahamas to pick up her parents when the trouble began about 15 miles west of Boca Raton. She initially planned to divert to Boca Raton Airport before the plane’s landing gear malfunctioned and its right engine failed.

The tail of the plane was seen on video sticking out of the ocean.

As she approached the coast, Tenkley guided the disabled plane to the open stretch of water just offshore.

Video captured by a beachgoer shows the aircraft descending low over the busy Boca Raton beach before gently landing on the ocean’s surface. The Piper remained largely intact as Tenkley, wearing a bikini, swam away from the aircraft with the help of a lifeguard who arrived in moments to assist.

A Boca Raton Ocean Rescue fire boat arrived shortly afterward. She was taken to a hospital as a precaution and was not reported injured.

The footage initially prompted confusion online, with some viewers mistakenly believing Tenkley was a surfer helping a male pilot. She had removed a long skirt she was wearing over her bikini to swim to shore, she told Gulf Coast News.

Stream ‘Hadestown: The Musical’ Online: Your Ultimate Viewing Guide

0

Get ready for an extraordinary journey into a world of reimagined legends. Tomorrow marks the digital release of the highly-anticipated filmed version of Hadestown: The Musical, available for both purchase and rental. Whether you missed seeing this Tony Award-winning sensation live in theaters or on the Broadway stage, there’s no need to wait any longer. Your ticket to experience this captivating production is just a click away.

Celebrated by critics and audiences alike, Hadestown intricately weaves together the timeless Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice alongside Hades and Persephone. With enchanting music and lyrics penned by Anaïs Mitchell, and visionary direction from Rachel Chavkin, the musical first emerged off-Broadway at the New York Theater Workshop in 2016. When it graced the Broadway stage in 2019, it garnered an impressive 14 Tony nominations, winning eight prestigious awards, including Best Musical.

In 2025, London’s Lyric Theatre captured the magic of Hadestown across three live performances, featuring original Broadway luminaries such as Reeve Carney, André De Shields, Amber Gray, Eva Noblezada, and Patrick Page. Though the musical’s spell continues to enchant Broadway audiences, not everyone has the means to experience it live. Thankfully, the digital release makes this incredible show accessible to anyone with an internet connection. Stay tuned to learn how and where you can stream Hadestown: The Musical.

Collage of characters from Hadestown, including a man and woman embracing, another woman in black looking up, and two men singing and gesturing, all against a smoky green background with red flower petals.

Where to watch Hadestown: The Musical movie on streaming:

Starting Tuesday, August 25, at 12 a.m. Eastern Time—or 9 p.m. Pacific Time the previous evening—Hadestown: The Musical will be available on popular platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Fandango At Home, among others. Prices may vary by platform, but you can expect to pay $24.99 for purchasing the film on Prime Video, while rental is set at $19.99.

For those who prefer a tangible keepsake, Hadestown: The Musical will also be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 20, 2026. Secure your copy and experience the magic of Hadestown whenever you wish.

Where will Hadestown: The Musical movie be streaming for free on Netflix, Hulu, or Disney Plus?

We don’t know if, or where, the Hadestown: The Musical movie will be streaming on a subscription-based streaming service. The film is being distributed in the U.S. by Crosswalk, a branch of Bleecker Street that specializes in concert films and filmed stage productions.

A previous Crosswalk title, Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience, a concert film, began streaming on Hulu and Disney+ in May, about three months after it opened in theaters. While we have no guarantee that Hadestown will follow the same release pattern, it’s possible that Hadestown will also be on Hulu and Disney+ about three months after opening in theaters, which would be around late October 2026, presumably after the movie hits DVD on October 20.

If you’re new to Hulu, the basic (with ads) price is $11.99/month. If you want to upgrade to Hulu ad-free, it costs $18.99/month.

If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the Disney+ Bundles, all of which include Hulu. These bundles start at $12.99/month for ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu and goes up to $32.99/month for Disney+, Hulu, and Max, all ad-free.

But this is all speculation. Crosswalk does not have an official output deal with any of the streamers, so we don’t know where Hadestown will be streaming, or indeed, if it will ever be streaming on a subscription-based streaming service. If you want to watch Hadestown: The Musical at home, you can buy or rent the film starting tomorrow.

Prince Harry’s UK Return Sparks Speculation: Is Reuniting with King Charles the Key Motivation?

0

Former royal staff suggest that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the United Kingdom with their children might be motivated by a desire to mend their relationship with King Charles.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to return to Britain with their children may have been driven partly by a determination to repair their relationship with King Charles, according to a former royal butler

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming return to the UK is seen as a step towards reconciliation with the royal family, particularly with King Charles.

Reports surfaced last week that Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, are set to move from California to the UK soon. Their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, will start attending school in Britain in September.

The family will reportedly live in a private, non-royal residence outside London while retaining their homes in California and Portugal, and are said to not be returning as working members of the royal family.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold, 48, has now told Us Weekly: “I imagine King Charles has played a part in their decision, and Harry wanting to spend more time with his father.

‘But now it’s so much easier and will be so much better for when I’m travelling next year.. I have food on tap 24.7 with no bags or bottles

‘Next mission to complete is getting this routine in place. I’ve been trying to keep the feeds longer and a couple hours apart.

‘Feeding on demand was completely killing me off and I started to lose track on everything.’

She continued: ‘Also I don’t even think he was crying for food it was more for comfort! I noticed he was hanging onto my boob like a dummy most of the time and not actually feeding. So this way it’s working way better!

Lindsay Clancy’s Defense Intensely Challenges Prosecution’s Psychiatrist in Court Battle

0

The courtroom witnessed a fiery exchange on Friday as a contentious standoff unfolded between defense attorney Kevin Reddington and Dr. Avram Mack. Their animated dialogue became so intense that the judge was compelled to step in and restore order, as both continuously interrupted each other.

Throughout the cross-examination, Reddington’s irritation with Dr. Mack was palpable, his tone escalating with each question.

In a pointed query, Reddington challenged Mack, asking, “Isn’t your primary research focused on adolescents prone to marijuana use and drinking?”

Dr. Mack firmly rebutted the claim with a simple, “No,” standing his ground against the attorney’s insinuations.

Undeterred, Reddington probed further, questioning whether Dr. Mack had “ever been in close proximity to a pregnant woman.”

He challenged the psychiatrist’s experience with women, asking how many he had treated before appearing to accuse him of fabricating his testimony: ‘What are you making this up?’

Reddington brandished a copy of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) as he challenged Mack.

He hammered home to the courtroom that postpartum psychosis is not listed as a standalone condition in the DSM, which is widely regarded as the psychiatric community’s diagnostic ‘Bible.’

‘I didn’t write the DSM, so I’m not here to represent it,’ Dr Mack replied as he testified as an expert witness for the prosecution.

Reddington then directed Mack to a section of the manual noting that women with bipolar disorder have an ‘increased risk of mood episodes’ during pregnancy.

Earlier, Mack testified that Clancy had the capacity for criminally responsibility when she ‘methodically’ killed her three children.

He testified that her phrase ‘go to god’ was ‘not only hope for the children but a description of the situation.’

‘The deaths were done one by one in a way that was organized and tended to achieve a particular goal. Her attempt at suicide was also organized in that it included as many methods as possible,’ Mack said.

Arizona Police Apprehend Shooting Suspect; Second Suspect Still on the Run After Fatal Attack

0

In a breakthrough in the case, Arizona law enforcement has apprehended a suspect linked to a home invasion that resulted in the death of a Tucson police recruit and left his fiancée in critical condition.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported that 23-year-old Carlos Ramirez was fatally shot at his residence in the southwestern part of Tucson early Wednesday morning. Ramirez was on course to graduate from the police academy on August 27 and had previous experience serving with PCSD as a corrections officer. His fiancée, also 23, is currently employed as a corrections officer, though her name has not been released.

Sheriff Chris Nanos of Pima County described how the suspects were dressed in all-black clothing and wore ski masks during the attack, which occurred at approximately 6 a.m.

A split image released by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department shows surveillance footage of an unknown male suspect beside a wanted man, 33-year-old Alex James Barnett. The release of these images is connected to the manhunt following the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old local police recruit, which also resulted in his fiancée, a Pima County corrections officer, sustaining a gunshot injury. (Pima County Sheriff’s Department)

Deputies arrested Santiago Jorge Rogers, 39, at a hotel on South Palo Verda Road in Tucson on Saturday morning, the sheriff said in a statement. He is being held without bond at the county jail.

Alex James Barnett, 33, remains at large. He has a rap sheet that includes prior burglary and weapons convictions and has also been known as Alex Wilson, according to court records. In December 2024, he pleaded guilty to an unlawful imprisonment charge.

This is shortly before deputies responded to a 911 call nearby and found a Tucson police recruit dead and his fiancee, a Pima County corrections officer, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was hospitalized in stable condition. Police have arrested 39-year-old Santiago Jorge Rogers and are seeking another suspect named Alex James Barnett, 33, who remains at large as of Monday morning. A third man was identified, contacted by authorities and has not been charged pending further investigation. (Pima County Sheriff’s Department)

A search of Pima County courts for prior cases came back empty for Rogers. However, a man of the same name and age has drug and shoplifting convictions in Yavapai County, possession of contraband behind bars in Navajo and Graham Counties, and a number of lesser charges in Prescott.

Surveillance video shows men identified as Rogers and Barnett in black clothing and picking up items at a gas station convenience store about 20 minutes before the shooting.

Hours later, surveillance video taken from a parking lot shows a third man parking the suspect vehicle, a gray Acura MDX SUV, and walking away.

He has not been publicly identified, but the sheriff’s department said Sunday he had been contacted by detectives.

“No arrest has been made as investigators work to determine his involvement,” the department said.

Anyone with information on the case or Barnett’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or 520-88-CRIME.

The journey from concept to screen took nearly twenty years, enduring a rollercoaster of potential leads, including Chris Evans, Dominic Cooper, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Gerard Butler, before finally settling on Ritchson to carry the film into theaters.

Alan Ritchson steps into the shoes of John Miller, a vengeful ex-con who sets his sights on taking down a mobster responsible for framing him and stealing his girlfriend in the gritty landscape of 1970s Detroit. Joining Ritchson in this crime thriller are Ben Foster, Pablo Schreiber, Lionel Boyce, and Shailene Woodley. According to Foster, dialogue takes a back seat in Motor City, with the film relying heavily on its dynamic action scenes and a gripping soundtrack. Anticipating the epic showdown? Here’s how you can catch Motor City on streaming and when it’s set to land on AMC+.

How to watch Alan Ritchson’s movie Motor City on streaming:

Motor City is not currently streaming free on any of the subscription-based streaming services. However, if you don’t want to pay to buy or rent the movie, we do expect to see Motor City streaming on AMC+ eventually, thanks to a output deal between the Independent Film Company and AMC+.

AMC+ costs $9/month. Find out more here.

When will Motor City movie be streaming free on AMC+?

We don’t yet know when Motor City will be streaming on AMC+, but we can guess it will be around late October 2026, based on previous Independent Film Company releases.

One recent IFC movie, Over Your Dead Body, began streaming on AMC+ about three months after it opened in theaters. If Motor City follows this same release pattern, you can expect Motor City to stream on Netflix around late October 2026, aka three months after the movie opened in theaters.

This is all speculation. We don’t yet have the Motor City AMC+ release date. If you don’t want to wait, you can go ahead and buy or rent Motor City online.
