Israeli Military Verifies Authenticity of Controversial Soldier Photo with Jesus Statue

0
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) has launched an investigation after confirming a photo showing one of its soldiers destroying a statue of Jesus Christ in southern Lebanon is real.
The image, initially shared by Palestinian journalist Younis Tirawi on X, showed a soldier using a hammer to topple a statue of Jesus Christ.

Reports have surfaced involving an image of an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldier purportedly taken in southern Lebanon, which has stirred significant attention. While the timeline of when the photo was captured remains ambiguous, it has been alleged that the soldier was indeed part of the IDF contingent operating in the region.

The IDF insists the actions of the soldier are "wholly inconsistent with the values expected of its troops."

The IDF has responded by confirming the authenticity of the photograph through various channels and has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. This proactive step underscores the gravity with which the military views the situation.

In an official statement released on the IDF’s X social media account, the military acknowledged the image, noting that it depicts an IDF soldier engaged in activities in southern Lebanon. The soldier was seen in the act of damaging a Christian symbol, an action that the IDF has denounced as a severe breach of conduct.

The IDF emphasized that such behavior is “wholly inconsistent with the values expected of its troops,” highlighting the importance of upholding standards that reflect the military’s core principles and respect for diverse religious symbols.

This incident comes amid Israel’s ongoing military operations in southern Lebanon, where the IDF has been conducting strikes against Hezbollah, a militant group entrenched in the area. The situation remains tense, as the military continues to navigate complex dynamics in the region.

Attacks on Lebanon increased after the USA and Iran agreed to a ceasefire to temporarily halt their conflict, though Israel claimed Lebanon was not included.

Lebanon’s government claims Israeli strikes have killed more than 2000 people since March 2, and the UN said 303 people alone were killed in a 10-minute bombardment on April 8.

After officials from the two countries met last week, it was finally agreed that Lebanon would be included in the ceasefire.

The IDF claims it is operating in southern Lebanon to disrupt the operations of Hezbollah, which is aligned with Iran.

“The IDF is operating to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure established by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, and has no intention of harming civilian infrastructure, including religious buildings or religious symbols,” it said in the statement.

Iran Issues Warning of Imminent Retaliation Following US Seizure of Iranian Cargo Ship

0

In a recent development, Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States, announcing its intention to ‘soon retaliate’ following the US Navy’s seizure of an Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. This incident has escalated tensions between the two nations, with Iran condemning the action as a breach of the ongoing two-week ceasefire agreement and labeling it as ‘maritime and armed robbery.’

The situation intensified after Iran reportedly turned down an invitation for a second round of peace discussions. This rejection came on the heels of President Donald Trump’s announcement of upcoming negotiations scheduled for Monday. The Iranian government, however, cited the US’s ‘excessive demands’ as a primary reason for its decision to abstain from the talks, as conveyed by the state-run IRNA news agency.

According to the IRNA, Iran attributed its absence from the negotiation table to a combination of factors, including Washington’s ‘excessive demands, unrealistic expectations, constant shifts in stance, repeated contradictions, and the ongoing naval blockade’ of the Strait of Hormuz. These grievances underscore the complexity and challenges in reaching a diplomatic resolution between the two countries.

Tehran accused the US of ‘excessive demands’ and blamed its ongoing blockade of the Strait of Hormuz for its absence, according to Iran’s state IRNA news agency.

It blamed ‘Washington’s excessive demands, unrealistic expectations, constant shifts in stance, repeated contradictions, and the ongoing naval blockade’ for its refusal to negotiate, the agency reported.

It comes just a day before US Vice President JD Vance was due to arrive in Pakistan for peace talks as a fragile two-week ceasefire continues.

Iran’s Hazrat Khatam al-Anbiya military headquarters confirmed the attack by the US military on a ship in the Sea of Oman in a statement carried by the Tasnim News Agency.

‘The aggressive America, by violating the ceasefire and committing maritime piracy, attacked one of Iran’s commercial ships in the waters of the Sea of Oman by firing upon it and disabling its navigation system by deploying several of its terrorist marines on the deck of the mentioned vessel,’ it said, confirming that the ship had been seized.

‘We warn that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will soon respond to and retaliate against this armed piracy by the US military,’ it added.

Iran’s top diplomat has told his Pakistani counterpart that Washington’s demands in negotiations and its threats to Iranian ships and ports mark ‘clear signs’ of America’s disingenuousness.

Abbas Aragchi made the remarks in a phone call to Pakistan´s foreign minister, Ishaq Dar, according to Iranian state media.

It´s another indication of how the Washington-Tehran standoff is sharpening as the ceasefire is set to expire on Wednesday.

It could also shake up plans for a new US-Iran round of talks in Islamabad this week.

The Iranian military headquarters said the attack and subsequent boarding of the Iranian vessel by US forces was a violation of the ceasefire and an act of ‘maritime piracy,’ according to Iran’s state-run broadcaster.

The United States says it fired on the ship and seized it because it had crossed the blockade line after ignoring multiple warnings.

US Central Command released a message sent by a US Mariner to the Iranian-flagged tanker in a video posted on X, saying it shows the moments before the U.S. seized Touska for crossing the U.S.-imposed blockade line in the Gulf of Oman.

‘Motor vessel Touska, Motor vessel Touska. Vacate your engine room. Vacate your engine room. We are about to subject you to disabling fire,’ can be heard in the video. Later, three rounds are fired, leaving smoke in their wake.

CENTCOM said its fire targeted the vessel´s engine room before forces seized the ship. It said Touska was headed to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas and ignored multiple US warnings over six hours to evacuate the engine room.

The USS Spruance then fired, after which Marines boarded and took hold of the ship.

‘American forces acted in a deliberate, professional, and proportional manner to ensure compliance,’ it wrote on X.

Trump said on Truth Social on Sunday that Iran had ‘fired bullets’ in the Strait of Hormuz, adding that ‘many of them were aimed at a French ship and a freighter from the United Kingdom.’

Ipswich Town’s Premier League Ambitions: £100M Investment, Strategic Signings, and Lessons from the Past

0

Mark Ashton, the chairman and CEO of Ipswich Town, once likened managing the club to the challenge of constructing an airplane mid-flight.

In the summer of 2022, the Tractor Boys were preparing for their fourth consecutive season in League One. New manager Kieran McKenna was still settling in, but the club was determined to rise above the third division and pursue higher goals.

No one could have predicted how swiftly and successfully their early adjustments would propel them forward. Just two years later, they found themselves competing in the Premier League.

Although they faced immediate relegation, Ipswich Town is once again on the brink of promotion. Currently, they sit second in the standings with a month remaining in the season. However, recent performances have been inconsistent. A win against rivals Norwich was quickly overshadowed by an unexpected loss to Portsmouth, a team battling relegation, intensifying the pressure ahead of their upcoming match against fifth-placed Middlesbrough.

This situation unfolds amid ongoing speculation about whether McKenna will continue to lead the team should they secure another promotion.

Kieran McKenna's future will have a huge bearing on whether Ipswich can make it stick if they go up again this season

The run-in has not been smooth, with victory at rivals Norwich followed by a shock defeat away to relegation-threatened Portsmouth this week

The run-in has not been smooth, with victory at rivals Norwich followed by a shock defeat away to relegation-threatened Portsmouth this week

When Daily Mail Sport spoke to Ipswich insiders about whether he the head coach will still be here next season, one source mentioned they thought he would likely ‘wait for something like a Bournemouth’ to come calling.

Not long after putting the phone down, the news broke that Andoni Iraola would be leaving the Cherries this summer. My phone pinged. ‘What did I just say about Bournemouth…’

McKenna was on their wanted list and was said to be open to the move. But as things stand, the Cherries are in talks to hire former Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig head coach Marco Rose, who’s out of work and would be cheaper to appoint than McKenna, whose buyout clause is understood to be around £5million.

Many thought McKenna would leave when he last took Ipswich up too. He has previously turned down Brighton and Crystal Palace, while approaches from Manchester United and Chelsea never quite panned out.

Irrespective of McKenna’s future, the key to Ipswich’s survival would rest on how much they have learned their lessons from the last time. When finishing up his post-mortem from their relegation last summer, Ashton admitted they had signed the wrong type of player as part of a £130m splurge.

‘One of the things we learnt was that gap in the physicality, the physical attributes of players that are required in the Premier League,’ said Ashton. ‘We have to look at recruiting a different type of player, a player with a different set of physical attributes. I think it’s recruitment, recruitment, recruitment.’

And it’s an area in which they struggled. You can’t just splash the cash and hope for the best. When they were in League One and the Championship, they hired Brighton’s Jamestown Analytics recruitment model but had to stop once they became Premier League rivals.

Without it, Ipswich struggled. Of the first 39 players signed under McKenna, only one – Jens Cajuste, on loan from Napoli – came from abroad and that was largely because he failed a medical at Brentford with a view that if he’s good enough for their model, he’s good enough for ours.

Ipswich had hired Brighton's vaunted recruitment model but as soon as they were promoted and became Premier League rivals, they had to stop

Ipswich had hired Brighton’s vaunted recruitment model but as soon as they were promoted and became Premier League rivals, they had to stop

Ipswich have since gone about trying to put that right. In September, they hired former Manchester United chief scout Mick Court, who spent nearly two decades at Old Trafford, as the new director of recruitment and then Peter Braund, also from United and a former colleague of McKenna, as head of European scouting. The club are in the process of building their own data model, and hope the £30m development of the Playford Road training ground will entice new signings.

Azor Matusiwa, the rough-and-tumble defensive midfielder signed from Rennes, has quickly become Ipswich’s lynchpin and fits the profile they would need in the Premier League. Even he was spotted partly by chance, though, as the club were scouting one of his team-mates.

Sindre Walle Egeli, though, the teenage Norwegian striker who became the most expensive signing in Championship history when Ipswich beat Porto and Club Bruges to his £17.5m signature, is yet to prove he’s the next Erling Haaland with just four goals all season and falling down the pecking order.

It would be little surprise if Ipswich splash more than £100m following promotion. A striker is expected to be top of their list after failing to replace Liam Delap last summer, and some around club would not be surprised to see him return on loan next season if he continues to struggle at Chelsea.

The money is there, as it was last time. Back then, the club went in hot pursuit of Elliot Anderson and even considered his £100,000-a-week wage demands before a refusal to accept a relegation clause ended negotiations.

Similar reluctance amid various targets led Ipswich to sign, as one source put it, a ‘Championship super-squad’ – players good enough to dominate in the second tier but, as it proved, not equipped for the Premier League.

They could do with the kind of experienced head that Granit Xhaka has brought to Sunderland. Ipswich hoped Kalvin Phillips would play that role last time around but did anything but.

While they are learning off the pitch, McKenna seems to be doing so on it as well. Their rapid journey through the division was characterised by thrilling, attacking football – ‘you score three, we’ll score four’.

This season, they have been far more pragmatic. In their promotion campaign, they were the highest scorers in the league but shipped only one goal fewer than 18th-placed QPR.

This time, they’re scoring less but have the joint-best defensive record in the division. Ipswich are averaging fewer shots but facing fewer too and, in attack, are producing more than double the fast breaks per game they did last time in the Championship.

Even with promotion in their hands, there’s still often been a strange sense around the place. They are no longer the plucky underdogs but one of the pre-season favourites for the title.

The departure of many of the double-promotion heroes like captain Sam Morsy, Cameron Burgess, Conor Chaplin and Nathan Broadhead left an emotional hole yet to be filled.

It also doesn’t help when you get into divisive pickles off the pitch either. Last month, a Reform UK campaign video was published of leader Nigel Farage at Portman Road: on the pitch and in the dressing room surrounded by Ipswich shirts with ‘Farage 10’ on the back.

A backlash followed, not just because of the prominence of a controversial political figure using the club as a promotional tool but because of how messily the club tried to cover it up.

They claimed they didn’t know who booked on the stadium tour until it was too late, only for it later to emerge an associate of Ashton had reached out to Farage in the first place to go for lunch, believed to be over their shared dislike for the new football regulator. They also claimed that Reform had paid for the shirts only for it to be later revealed that six of them were gifted.

Members of staff made complaints to the club’s HR department and Ashton was later forced to apologise for any ‘hurt and pain’ caused. He talked of ‘mistruths’ and ‘mistakes’ but failed to elaborate on either.

He was lucky that Ipswich’s ownership model had not long shifted from the US pension fund for police officers and firefighters to one that included various investors like Ed Sheeran.

One source close to the pension fund, one strong on community whose motto is ‘running towards adversity’, suggested to Daily Mail Sport that had it still been them in charge, Ashton may not have come out of it quite so cleanly.

But, as always in football, results help shift narrative and victory over arch-rivals Norwich is a better way than any.

How they fare in their final five games, starting at home to Middlesbrough on Sunday and including a daunting trip to red-hot Southampton at the end of the month will, more than anything, define whether this aircraft can remain airborne while the next bits are built.

Report Reveals San Francisco’s Ongoing Struggles Post-Pandemic Exodus

0

A recent report highlights that San Francisco’s population has yet to bounce back following the mass departures during the pandemic.

In March, The San Francisco Chronicle noted, “Despite a booming AI sector, the San Francisco metro area saw no population growth in 2025.”

This stagnation sets the region apart from most other major metros in the U.S., with the latest U.S. census estimates revealing that San Francisco’s population remains significantly below its 2020 numbers.

The report indicated that, as of July 2025, the San Francisco metropolitan area, which encompasses the East Bay, Peninsula, and Marin County, had a population 2.6% smaller than in April 2020. Among large metro areas with over 1.5 million residents, only Los Angeles experienced a slightly greater decline, at 2.7%.

Persistent issues such as rampant homelessness, rising crime rates, and exorbitant living costs have plagued the city for years. Many former residents have cited improved quality of life and affordability outside the Bay Area as reasons for their relocation, as homelessness and housing costs continue to climb.

The city is trying to make a comeback with a shift in its political landscape after moderates ousted progressives out of leadership.

The effort of moderates caught the attention of President Donald Trump, who praised Mayor Daniel Lurie for his work in turning the city back around.

The city elected Lurie in 2024, defeating incumbent Democrat London Breed in a shift away from lenient policies on crime, drugs and homelessness that critics say contributed to the city’s decline.

Moderate Democrats in San Francisco are pushing back against progressive candidates, fearing local left-wing politicians could undo the work done over the past four years after a surge in the city’s homelessness and crime.

“Still, it’s not as though the Bay Area’s population has been in free fall since the pandemic,” the Chronicle reported. “After hitting a low in 2022, the population growth in both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas has generally leveled off, even creeping up slightly. Likewise, Los Angeles’ population change has generally leveled off around its lowest point.”

Neighbors for a Better San Francisco raised $10 million to pour into local elections to stop progressives from being re-elected and knocking the city “off its more centrist course,” according to a Politico report last month.

Two Men Found Guilty in Tragic Highland Park Beach Death of Matthew Ascaridis

0

In a significant verdict, a jury has found two men guilty of the brutal murder of a Highland Park resident, a husband and father, who was fatally beaten outside his home nearly four years ago.

On Saturday, Nicholas Caban, aged 23, and Jacob Firestone, aged 22, were both convicted of second-degree murder for their roles in the tragic death of Matthew Ascaridis on September 17, 2022.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

According to the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force was called to Fort Sheridan Beach at approximately 5:15 a.m. on the day of the incident, where they discovered the lifeless body of 45-year-old Ascaridis.

During the trial, Ascaridis’s wife recounted the events of September 16, 2022. She testified that as they were preparing for a trip around 11 p.m., they were disturbed by loud noises outside their home. Ascaridis reportedly contacted the police twice to report the commotion. However, he was informed around 1 a.m. that there would be a delay before an officer could respond. After this conversation, Ascaridis decided to head to the beach.

The Forest Preserve officer, who communicated with Ascaridis that night, testified that he arrived at Fort Sheridan Beach around 2:15 a.m. in response to the noise complaint. However, he did not observe any unusual activity or noise upon his arrival.

Law enforcement officers testified that they responded to Caban’s home around 5:20 a.m. after he called 911 to report an altercation. When officers arrived, they saw Firestone lying on the front yard and Caban standing nearby. Both men appeared injured but conscious.

One investigator told jurors that the Highland Park Police Department later interviewed Caban, who claimed that he and Firestone had a confrontation with Ascaridis and that Ascaridis had fallen on the beach.

Another investigator testified that during an interview at the hospital, Firestone claimed that Ascaridis beat both him and Caban. Prosecutors later argued that Firestone’s claims were inconsistent with medical testimony and DNA evidence recovered from blood found at the scene.

During closing arguments, prosecutors argued that after the brutal beating, the defendants did not call police until hours later. Instead, prosecutors said, the defendants left Ascaridis alone on the beach, unable to move and gasping for air, before he succumbed to his injuries.

The next court date for Firestone and Caban is scheduled for June 18.

Urgent Concerns: Black Market Threat as Slain Iranian Nuclear Experts and Uranium Go Missing

0

The targeted killing of Iranian nuclear scientists through military actions by the U.S. and Israel has sparked concern over the potential destabilization of the Iranian regime. This instability could lead to a weakened grip on uranium stockpiles and the dissemination of nuclear expertise, heightening the risk of nuclear proliferation.

Experts indicate that although Iran may find replacements for the personnel it has lost, the expertise these individuals possessed is not as easily restored. Additionally, undisclosed facilities within Iran may render sensitive materials and knowledge susceptible to exploitation.

“At present, the threat of nuclear terrorism or the diversion of nuclear materials to the black market is minimal,” stated Kelsey Davenport, who serves as the director of nonproliferation policy at the Arms Control Association.

“Non-state actors would encounter significant obstacles in acquiring enriched uranium, and it is improbable that they possess the necessary infrastructure to further enrich it to weapons-grade levels and convert it into the metallic form needed for the core of a warhead,” she explained.

“However, if the current Iranian government implodes or the conflict causes significant internal instability, there is an increased risk that nuclear materials will be stolen or diverted to undeclared sites.”

“There is also a risk that Iranian nuclear scientists may be willing to sell their expertise to states or non-state actors seeking nuclear weapons,” Davenport said in a new report.

Several senior figures in Iran’s nuclear and defense infrastructure have been killed over the past two years, coinciding with the campaign of U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities between 2025 and 2026.

Among them is Hossein Jabal Amelian, head of the Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND), who was killed in 2026 during Operation Rising Lion and Operation Epic Fury.

SPND is seen as the successor to Iran’s pre-2004 nuclear weapons program and plays a key role in new weaponization research.

Others killed in 2025 include Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, Akbar Motallebizadeh and Said Borji, all linked to weaponization work.

“The full impact of this campaign on Iran’s weaponization capabilities remains unclear,” Jim Lamson, a senior research associate at the Center for Nonproliferation Studies, told Fox News Digital.

“There will be replacements of the managers and scientists, but the impact on the killed officials’ experience and expertise will be hard to replace,” the former CIA analyst said.

“Many key scientists involved in suspected weaponization work were killed in 2025 and 2026.”

“Their successors may also fear being targeted in the future, whether by military strikes or assassination. That could affect their motivation and willingness to participate in any nuclear weapons program.”

Scientist Funeral

Lamson also said many of those targeted were embedded in sensitive areas of Iran’s nuclear work, including the fuel cycle and weaponization.

“These scientists had expertise in areas of the nuclear fuel cycle of key concern for nuclear weapons, including the production of highly enriched uranium (HEU), which was Iran’s main pathway for fissile material,” he said.

“The scientists also had expertise in weaponization — that is, in key aspects of the design and production of nuclear explosive devices,” Lamson added.

That said, U.S. and Israeli targeted strikes have also hit a network of sites tied to their work, creating extra obstacles for Iran’s program in the near term, he said.

“We have identified at least 11 weaponization-related sites that have been hit since 2024,” Lamson said.

“These include SPND headquarters, a newly identified site called Min-Zadayi in northeast Tehran, SPND’s Taleghan and Sanjarian explosives testing sites, the Defense Ministry’s Shahid Meisami complex in western Tehran and several research universities.”

These facilities were all involved in neutronics, explosives, metallurgy and nuclear physics — all tied to nuclear weapons development, he said.

Despite the scale of the latest strikes, Iran retains enriched nuclear material, with President Donald Trump saying April 17 that the U.S. would work with Iran to recover “nuclear dust” — enriched uranium — from sites, adding that both countries would use heavy machinery to remove it.

The International Atomic Energy Agency also estimates Iran still holds more than 200 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% at Esfahan—enough for roughly five weapons if further enriched.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi also said it remains “under the rubble” of previous strikes and that Tehran has no plans to recover it.

“It is always possible that Iran has additional sites that were not known to Israel and the U.S.,” Lamson said.

“We will have to wait to see how much these operations translate into a lasting strategic impact on Iran’s ability to produce nuclear weapons.”

“It’s easier to identify the damage and death caused by the Israeli and U.S. strikes, and harder to assess their actual impact on Iran’s capabilities and intentions to produce a nuclear weapon,” Lamson clarified.

Discover If You’re Eligible for a $1000 Tax Deduction in Australia

Treasurer Jim Chalmers today confirmed the tax break will be officially enshrined in law and will come into effect in time for the 2027 tax season next year.

The newly introduced legislation allows for a maximum tax savings of $470, with the average taxpayer expected to save around $205.

“This initiative will reduce the paperwork burden, save both time and money, and offer some tax relief,” stated Chalmers.

“It is expected to benefit approximately 6.2 million workers when they file their tax returns next year,” he added.

Under this law, around 6.2 million Australians will qualify for an immediate deduction.

The change means that workers will not have to provide receipts for up to $1,000 in work-related expenses.

Chalmers said the $1000 write-off forms part of the Labor government’s broader budget goal of reducing income tax.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said at the time it will give more Australians “your own money faster” and won’t need to claimed through an accountant or receipts.

“No paperwork, no box of receipts, no scrolling through your online banking – just tick the box and your return is ready,” he said.

Chalmers announced the proposed tax law after outlining what Australians can expect at the May federal budget.

He said the budget was entirely revised after the US-led war against Iran began in late February.

“There will be a tax reform, there will be a productivity push, and there will be savings,” Chalmers said.

“It will be ambitious in its breadth and its depth

“It won’t be exactly what we had planned over the summer, it would be strange if it was, given what has happened.”

More pre-budget announcements will be handed down in the coming days, including discussions around NDIS reform.

How does the instant $1000 deduction work?

An $1000 instant tax deduction does not mean Australian taxpayers will simply pocket an extra grand in their tax return.

Very few, if any, people will receive the full $1000 by claiming expenses this way.

According to online platform etax, it equates to less than $300 in tax refund dollars for the average worker.

Claiming this may also reduce your entire tax refund.

“If you agree to the ‘easy’ $1000 deduction, you cannot claim your actual work-related expenses,” the website reads.

“That means if you, like most people, pay more than $1000 for work-related expenses, across the whole year, then you cheat yourself out of a bigger tax refund by accepting this standard $1000 deduction on your tax return.”

0

The WWE universe was taken by surprise when legendary wrestler Brock Lesnar seemingly bid farewell to his illustrious career at WrestleMania 42 on Sunday night. The dramatic turn of events unfolded at Allegiant Stadium, where Lesnar faced a swift defeat against his adversary, Oba Femi, in a mere four minutes and 42 seconds.

In a poignant moment that left fans and peers alike stunned, Lesnar placed his gloves and boots in the center of the ring, hinting at his retirement from the sport. His emotional gesture was followed by a heartfelt embrace with Paul Heyman, his longtime friend and onscreen ally, before Lesnar turned to give a final wave to the crowd.

The atmosphere inside the stadium was charged with emotion, as Netflix’s broadcast captured the audience’s overwhelming response. Chants of “Thank you, Lesnar” echoed through the arena, honoring the 48-year-old’s contributions to the wrestling world as he departed the ring one last time.

Beyond his WWE achievements, Lesnar’s career highlights include a tenure as a heavyweight UFC fighter. He retires as a ten-time WWE champion and a two-time Royal Rumble victor, solidifying his status as a true legend in the wrestling realm.

Lesnar, who also had a stint as a heavyweight UFC fighter, walks away from the sport as a 10-time WWE champion, a two-time Royal Rumble winner and bona fide legend.

It didn’t take long for tributes to pour in for the 48-year-old, with Kurt Angle writing on X: ‘Love you my brother. There will only be one like you. Enjoy retirement Brock.’

Lesnar began life with the WWE back in 2002, following a successful college wrestling career that saw him a two-time NJCAA All-American and accrue a staggering 106-5 record over four years.

After signing with the wrestling promotion, Lesnar worked his way into the main roster and eventually became one of the biggest stars in the organization.

However, his first stint in the WWE would come to an end in 2004. Following a defeat at WrestleMania XX, he cited burnout, injuries and creative dissatisfaction as his reasons for walking away.

Lesnar would later return to the promotion in 2012 and earned a number of WWE championship titles before seemingly retiring at WrestleMania 36.

That decision, however, was short-lived and he returned to the ring in 2021 rocking a new ‘cowboy’ look that featured a beard and ponytail.

In 2023, Lesnar was named in a bombshell sex trafficking lawsuit against WWE co-founder Vince McMahon, filed by his former employee Janel Grant.

As a result of the lawsuit, Lesnar was removed from the WWE’s roster and wiped from their event plans. He would endure a two-year exile from the organization.

He returned at Summer Slam in August 2025, despite the Grant lawsuit remaining active at the time. He took part in a handful of fights between then and Sunday night, before officially retiring from the sport.

Though he’s best-known for his time in the squared circle, Lesnar also found success away from wrestling. After leaving WWE for the first time in 2004, he attempted to embark on a professional football career.

Lesnar participated in the NFL Scouting Combine at the time but later suffered a broken jaw and hand from a motorcycle accident which put his progress on hold.

Despite the injuries, a number of NFL teams still held an interest in Lesnar and, in July 2004, he signed with the Minnesota Vikings as a defensive tackle. However, his time with the franchise was short-lived and he was eventually released in August.

After his dreams of being on the gridiron came crashing down, Lesnar then decided to try his hand – literally – at mixed martial arts.

He began fighting for a promotion known as ‘K-1’, in April 2006, and won his first bout via submission in the first round – bring global attention to his MMA skills.

He would eventually sign with Dana White’s UFC in 2008, which proved to be a massive success for the organization given Lesnar’s national star power.

Despite losing his first fight, UFC chief White stuck by Lesnar and offered him a multi-fight deal. Again, this proved to a wise call as Lesnar would later become the UFC heavyweight champion following a win over Randy Couture in November 2008.

In total, he had eight UFC fights, winning four of them and losing three – with the final bout being ruled as a no-contest after he tested positive for clomiphene.
