DCLM Daily Manna 12 August 2026 — Heaven: Prepared For The Prepared

DCLM Daily Manna 12 August 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Heaven: Prepared For The Prepared

TOPIC – Heaven: Prepared For The Prepared (DCLM Daily Manna 12 August 2026)

KEY VERSE: In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you – John 14:2

TEXT: John 14:1-6 (KJV)

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

D.L. Moody, the famous evangelist, once said before his death, “Someday you will read in the papers that D. L. Moody of East Northfield is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it! At that moment, I shall be more alive than I am now. I shall have gone up higher, that is all, out of this old clay tenement into a house that is immortal, a body that death cannot touch, that sin cannot taint; a body fashioned like unto His glorious body.” Moody understood the truth that heaven is not a vague idea but a real, prepared place for those who belong to Christ. He had no fear of death because he knew that Jesus had already secured for him an eternal home.

In today’s text, Jesus gives the same assurance to His disciples: He has gone ahead to prepare a place for them, and He will return to take them there. He speaks words of comfort to His troubled disciples. He tells them not to be afraid because His Father’s house is big enough to accommodate all those who are qualified, and that He is going to prepare the place for them. More than that, He promises to return and bring them to be with Him forever. When Thomas questions the way to this place, Jesus makes a life-changing declaration: “…I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:5).

Heaven is not an accidental destination. It is a prepared place for prepared people. Jesus makes it clear that He is the only Way to this eternal home. Today, many believe that all roads lead to heaven, but Christ’s words leave no room for confusion. Only those who accept Him and live for Him will enter the place He has prepared.

This truth should give us confidence and peace as believers in Christ’s return. Just as a traveller finds joy knowing a home awaits at the end of his journey, we too should endure life’s trials knowing that heaven is real and waiting for us. However, this is also a call for readiness, as only those who are prepared in Christ will enter there. Heaven is not for the undecided or the uncommitted; it is for those who know and follow Christ. It is for those who have let go of the world, let in Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour and live for Him consistently.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
If your aim is heaven, look beyond this world.

Rhapsody Of Realities 12 August 2026: If You Have Jesus, You Have Life

Rhapsody Of Realities 12 August 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): If You Have Jesus, You Have Life

TOPIC: If You Have Jesus, You Have Life (Rhapsody of Realities 12 August 2026)

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son – 1 John 5:11

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

Christianity is the unveiling of a present reality: Christ in you; His life, glory, righteousness, wisdom, dominion and grace unveiled and revealed in and through you. This is real. Christianity isn’t a religion. It’s the very life and nature of God imparted to you in Christ and lived through the power of the Holy Spirit.

This life isn’t something you’re going to get when you get to heaven. The Apostle John states it as a present truth in our opening scripture: “…God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” Then he continues in the 12th verse, “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” This is absolute.

You can’t have eternal life any other way. If you have Jesus, you have it. Read His words in John 17:3 “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” He had said earlier in John 5:24, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

Then He made a most profound declaration in the 26th verse, “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself.” This helps to understand why Jesus is, Himself, eternal life and the only One who can give it: “…we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life” (1 John 5:20).

Remember His words in John 14:6, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Being born again, you’ve come to the Father through Jesus Christ and have received His life. Therefore, be ever conscious of His divine life in you (1 John 5:13). Let it go beyond doctrine to consciousness and experience. Eternal life is what makes you superior to Satan and the limitations of this world. It’s why you have the capacity to live above sin, sickness and death, and live from God instead of trying to reach Him.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the reality of eternal life in me. I don’t live by assumptions but by the truth of your Word. I walk in the consciousness of this divine life, expressing your nature and manifesting your glory, righteousness, grace and truth, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Zelenskyy Reveals Nighttime Strike on Russia’s Key Black Sea Naval Base

KYIV – In a remarkable overnight mission, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukrainian anti-ship missiles, airborne drones, and maritime drones launched a coordinated assault on a significant Russian naval hub along the Black Sea coast.

Since Russia’s incursion over four years ago, Kyiv has been innovating advanced drones that have persistently attacked Russian vessels in the Black Sea, targeting a mix of warships and oil tankers. The Black Sea holds strategic coastlines for both nations.

According to Kyiv’s representatives, Ukraine’s uncrewed naval forces have substantially restricted the operations of Russia’s Black Sea fleet, which was once considered formidable. This achievement is one of Ukraine’s significant triumphs in the conflict.

Ukrainian authorities, however, remain mindful of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s determination to continue the conflict, even as his forces face slow, expensive progress on the front lines, amidst U.S. efforts for a peaceful resolution.

Zelenskyy revealed on social media on Tuesday night that intelligence from Ukraine suggests Putin is gearing up for “an additional rapid mobilization” of hundreds of thousands of Russian troops as the year draws to a close.

Ukraine says it hit Black Sea port infrastructure

The Ukrainian military “carried out a unique operation targeting the naval base in Novorossiysk — the last major stronghold of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea,” Zelenskyy said in a social media post Wednesday.

The attack struck air defenses, piers and other port infrastructure in the Krasnodar region city, he added.

Krasnodar region Gov. Veniamin Kondratyev said that hundreds of Ukrainian drones attacked Novorossiysk, Anapa and Gelendzhik and the Temryuk district of the region overnight.

Russian air defenses downed more than 500 Ukrainian drones, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said.

In Novorossiysk, an eight-year old child was killed in the attack, and a person wounded when his house in the Temryuk region was hit later died in hospital, Kondratyev said. He added that 12 other people in the region were wounded.

Debris from downed drones fell on the territory of four industrial plants and 21 residential buildings, according to Kondratyev, but officials gave no details of any damage.

Novorossiysk is also home to a key international oil terminal. The Grushovaya oil transshipment complex near Novorossiysk is one of the largest transshipment hubs in southern Russia for oil and petroleum products.

Last February, the U.S. State Department expressed its displeasure about Ukraine’s attacks on Novorossiysk, saying they have impacted U.S. oil interests in Kazakhstan.

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium operates a pipeline from the Caspian coast in northwest Kazakhstan to Novorossiysk. The pipeline handles much of the crude exports from three major Kazakh fields in which major U.S. energy companies, Chevron and ExxonMobil, have stakes.

In illegally annexed Crimea, air defenses downed 115 Ukrainian drones over Sevastopol overnight, the city’s Russia-appointed head Mikhail Razvozhayev said, adding that 10 apartment buildings and 25 private houses were damaged.

Russian drone attacks kill 2 and destroy a shopping mall

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s air force said Wednesday that Russia fired 138 long-range strike drones as well as an unspecified number of missiles at Ukraine during the night. Damage was recorded at 16 locations across the country, it said.

In the southern Kherson region of Ukraine, a large-scale Russian drone attack overnight killed two people and wounded two others, regional head Oleksandr Prokudin said Wednesday.

The attacks also destroyed a shopping mall in the southern Ukraine city of Zaporizhzhia, according to authorities.

Inside Justin Hartley’s Romantic History: Meet the Remarkable Women He’s Dated

Justin Hartley, familiar to many from his role in “The Young and the Restless,” has ventured into the realm of matrimony three times, with his current marriage blossoming. Yet, while each of his partners, both past and current, shares an acting background, Hartley chooses to keep the intricacies of his romantic life under wraps. This decision aligns with the “This Is Us” star’s dedication to safeguarding the sanctity of his personal relationships, distancing them from the clamor of public scrutiny.

The wisdom to protect his personal affairs stems from the advice of Hartley’s stepfather. As Hartley recalled on the “I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario” podcast in May 2026, “He said to me a long, long time ago, ‘You got to take care of your relationship and be very protective of who you surround yourself with and what relationships you surround yourself with.'” For Hartley, this caution extends beyond just avoiding media frenzy to keeping some friends and acquaintances at bay, as they can unknowingly introduce negativity. “There will be people in your life that you think are your friends, and they simply cannot handle your relationship,” he asserted.

Hartley has frequently pointed out the inaccuracies spun by the media regarding his private life, urging audiences not to believe everything they come across. His grown daughter, Isabella, has benefited from this parental wisdom. “I tell her … ‘You really can’t just believe something because you read it,'” he shared on “Bevelations on Radio Andy” back in 2020. Despite having been linked with some high-profile individuals, keeping his personal affairs out of headlines has undoubtedly proved challenging.

Justin Hartley was married to Lindsay Korman from 2003 to 2012

Justin Hartley’s journey down the aisle first began with Lindsay Korman, whom he met in 2003. Their whirlwind romance led to an engagement the same year, and by May 2004, the “Passions” co-stars exchanged vows with Korman already well along in her pregnancy. Their daughter, Isabella, arrived the following July. However, their marriage was not destined to last. The couple parted ways in 2012, maintaining silence about their separation apart from mentioning irreconcilable differences in the divorce filing, keeping the specifics of their relationship’s end a private matter.

Despite the dissolution of their marriage, Hartley and Korman have maintained a friendly rapport. They’ve remained committed to co-parenting Isabella effectively, focusing on nurturing their daughter together. The crux of their successful parenting partnership lies in robust communication. Hartley expressed to Us Weekly in 2019, “Communication and an understanding of where everyone’s coming from and realizing that it’s hard. As much as you try to put yourself in other people’s shoes, you’re never fully going to be able to do it, but you should just make the effort.”

Korman showed the strength of their relationship when she leaped to her ex’s defense in the aftermath of his much messier second divorce (more on this later). “Today, I appreciate my ex-husband Justin for not only being exemplification of a solid man but for being my dear friend and devoted father to our daughter,” she wrote in part in an August 2020 Instagram message.

Justin Hartley was married to Chrishell Stause for two years

Justin Hartley met Chrishell Stause in 2013, about a year after his split from Lindsay Korman. He fell for her right away, just sensing she would become his wife. “I drove her home and called the next day. We haven’t been apart since. I knew right away [and] was like, ‘Oh boy, here we go,'” he told People in 2017. The “Days of Our Lives” alum also felt it. “The next day I texted my friend: ‘I found him,'” she recalled.

But Hartley didn’t plunge into marriage like he did the first time. Instead, they waited four years before tying the knot in October 2017. Unfortunately, the result was the same. In November 2019, Hartley filed for divorce from Stause, though the process was nothing like his split from Korman. The “Selling Sunset” star publicly accused her ex of blindsiding her, contending he texted her about filing papers just 45 minutes before it hit the news. “Because of the crazy way in which this went down, people want answers, and I f***ing want answers,” she said on the show (via Fox News).

A few days after the filing, TMZ sources also raised questions about Hartley’s motivations for citing a July 2019 date of separation, arguing that the couple had been together up until he filed for divorce. Stause reportedly believed he altered the date to keep from having to include a big financial boost relating to “This Is Us” in the divorce settlement. Hartley and his costars had secured a big pay raise ahead of Season 3 — but that was the previous year, so it’s unclear what happened there.

Justin Hartley has been married to Sofia Pernas since 2021

Even though Justin Hartley met Sofia Pernas on the set of “The Young and the Restless” in 2015, they didn’t really connect until years later. “She was very kind and very nice. I liked being around her. But I was in a different place in my life. I wasn’t available,” he told Haute Living in 2021, the year he tied the knot for a third time. Hartley was first linked to his former costar in May 2020, six months after he filed for divorce from Chrishell Stause.

Despite the side-eyes that this generated, Hartley has maintained that the circumstances around the beginning of his relationship with Pernas were perfect. “I’m very lucky to not only have found ‘the one,’ but I found her when she was available and the timing was right,” he told Haute Living. Having done this marriage thing twice before, Hartley has learned valuable lessons. This time, he wants to protect what he has with his wife above all else, understanding that not everyone finds that soulmate-type of relationship. “When you do have it, man, you got to just hold on to it. It’s so special and fragile, in some ways, and rare,” he said in the “I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario” interview.

This time, Hartley is also taking a more relaxed approach to marriage. In the Haute Living interview, he highlighted how seamless his relationship with Pernas is. “It’s incredible when you’re not forcing things. It doesn’t have to be that hard,” he said.

Man’s Chilling Prediction Lands Him in Prison for Murder

Inset: Kimberly Osborne (McCulla Funeral Home). Background: Joseph Nevera, center, during his sentencing for murdering Osborne in West Virginia (WDTV).

In West Virginia, a man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after fulfilling a chilling promise to place his girlfriend in a grave. Joseph Nevera, 51, viciously strangled Kimberly Osborne and buried her in the woods, sealing his fate behind bars.

Joseph Nevera will never have the chance for freedom again as he was convicted of first-degree murder for taking the life of 48-year-old Kimberly Osborne near Morgantown. His life sentence was delivered without any mercy, ensuring he is not eligible for parole.

On Mother’s Day in 2024, Osborne’s sudden disappearance left a haunting void. It took authorities six painstaking months to uncover her body in a shallow grave close to the home she shared with Nevera. A few weeks after their grim discovery, police apprehended Nevera.

In court, a pivotal witness revealed that Nevera had previously issued threats to end Osborne’s life, vowing to strangle her so she’d “end up in a grave or a hole in the ground.” Prosecutors stated Nevera’s anger stemmed from Osborne’s intention to leave him, contributing to his heinous act, as reported by the local CBS affiliate WDTV.

After killing Osborne, Nevera showed her body to his friend John Claburn. Her body was in the passenger seat of a Silverado truck.

“I killed her,” Claburn recalled Nevera telling him, per the Dominion Post. “You gotta help me.”

“Joe, this isn’t good,” he reportedly told his best friend.

The two drove to a remote area where Nevera buried the body as Claburn stood watch. Claburn was convicted of accessory after the fact.

Osborne’s mother testified she held out hope that her daughter may still be alive as the search for her continued. But those dreams were dashed when cops showed up at her doorstep to tell her they had found her body.

“She was my child,” she reportedly testified. “She was my baby. And I’m angry.”

Osborne, a mother of three, was known for her “boundless generosity and joyful spirit.”

“Kimberly’s presence was a light that guided many through times of darkness,” her obituary reads.

4M Afghan Girls Denied Education, UN Warns of Setbacks

0

Five years after the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan, the doors of secondary schools remain shut for 2.4 million girls. This drastic reversal erases years of educational progress, leaving a vast number of young Afghan women bereft of schooling opportunities.

UNESCO recently reinforced its call for Afghanistan to restore women’s educational rights “immediately and unconditionally,” pointing out that this nation now stands alone in officially denying education to girls and women beyond primary school.

According to warnings from the United Nations, the impact of the Taliban’s educational policies extends well beyond academics. Women now face systemic barriers to employment, particularly in most paid positions and public roles, and their mobility is heavily restricted without male accompaniment.

Afghan girls participate in a lesson at Tajrobawai Girls High School, in Herat, Afghanistan, Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021. Since the chaotic Taliban takeover of Kabul on Aug. 15, an already war-devastated economy once kept alive by international donations alone is now on the verge of collapse. The World Health Organization is warning of millions of children suffering malnutrition, and the U.N. says 97% of Afghans will soon be living below the poverty line. (AP Photo/Petros Giannakouris)

“Women have been erased from public life, and as a new generation of girls grows without an education, their future becomes increasingly dark,” UNESCO said in a statement.

The Taliban swept back into power on Aug. 15, 2021, as U.S. and NATO forces withdrew from Afghanistan after two decades of war.

The Taliban soon barred girls from secondary schools and later expanded the restrictions to universities, employment and other areas of public life.

Despite years of pressure from the United Nations, humanitarian groups, human rights advocates and several Islamic countries, the Taliban has refused to lift the education restrictions and has maintained that the issue is a domestic matter, according to The Associated Press.

The impact has been a dramatic reversal of the educational gains made by Afghan girls during the previous two decades.

While girls had severely limited access to schooling in 2001, nearly 1 million were enrolled in secondary education by 2021, according to UNESCO.

Five years later, an estimated 2.4 million girls are excluded from secondary education.

“Five years is not a temporary interruption in a child’s education,” Hoda Jaberian, UNESCO’s program coordinator for education in emergencies, said during a video news conference Tuesday, according to The AP. “It is clearly almost an entire secondary school cycle.”

UNESCO warned that denying education to girls while restricting women’s ability to work could deepen Afghanistan’s already severe economic problems.

Nearly half of Afghanistan’s population lives below the poverty line, according to UNESCO, which said preventing women from studying and working further limits their ability to support their families and contribute to the country’s economy.

The agency also warned that excluding girls from school can damage their mental and physical well-being and increase the risk of early marriage.

The effects could also reach Afghan boys.

UNESCO said the Taliban’s ban on female teachers teaching boys is worsening teacher shortages and undermining the quality of education across Afghanistan.

With formal secondary and higher education closed to women and girls, UNESCO says it has turned to community-based education, literacy and skills development programs and psychosocial support to keep them learning.

Nearly 70,000 people have participated in UNESCO’s programs, with women accounting for 73% of the learners, according to the agency.

Some literacy and skills classes take place in community spaces and in the homes of facilitators with the knowledge of authorities, according to The AP. More than 1,000 literacy facilitators are involved, most of whom have been trained by UNESCO and its partners.

UNESCO said a recent study found evidence that its literacy and skills programs have helped increase household incomes and improve livelihoods.

The agency acknowledged, however, that such efforts cannot replace formal schooling.

“Afghanistan’s girls and women have the right to learn, to work, to move freely, and to shape their own futures,” UNESCO said, adding that “the world must not look away until their human rights are restored.”

UNESCO said it would continue working with local communities and partners to maintain alternative opportunities for Afghan women and girls while pressing for the education ban to be lifted.

“UNESCO continues to call for the immediate and unconditional restoration of girls and women’s right to secondary and higher education,” Jaberian said Tuesday. “It is not negotiable. It’s a basic human right and we reiterate that there is no substitute for this.”

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez Tie the Knot: A Wedding Surprise!

0

In a heartfelt moment that captured the attention of fans worldwide, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have officially tied the knot in a civil ceremony held in the picturesque town of Cascais, Portugal.

The couple celebrated their union in an intimate and private ceremony on Tuesday, surrounded by their five children. This significant step comes a year after they initially announced their engagement.

Ronaldo took to Instagram to share the exciting news with his followers, posting a photo of their wedding bands to commemorate the culmination of their decade-long relationship.

Accompanying the photo, he simply captioned it: ‘C❤️G,’ symbolizing their enduring bond.

A spokesperson for Ronaldo confirmed the marriage, stating, “Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez were married today in a civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, and are now officially husband and wife.”

‘The ceremony was a private and intimate moment attended by their five children.’

The wedding news comes just days after it was thought the couple were set to marry in Funchal Cathedral, leading to thousands of fans gathering outside the church.

However, it was then revealed that the couple were not getting married there at all, and the ceremony turned out to be for an entirely unconnected Portuguese couple from Madeira called Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira.

Georgina was working at a Gucci store in Madrid, earning £10 an hour, when she and Ronaldo met in 2016.

Recalling their meeting, Georgina said: ‘I was finally able to leave the shop to go home three hours later than I should have and as I was getting ready to leave Cristiano came in with his eldest son and some friends.

‘Let’s just say it was butterflies in my stomach.’

Cristiano would then pick Georgina up from work in his £1.5million Bugatti – after she had arrived at the shop on the bus.

‘Many times he’d come after work’, she said in her Netflix series I Am Georgina.

‘He would come, I remember once, once in a Bugatti. My coworkers went crazy. They get there on the bus, and I would leave in a Bugatti. I mean people couldn’t believe it.’

By December, she quit her job shortly after fans began crowding outside the store.

The following month, the pair made their first public appearance at The Best FIFA Football Awards, confirming speculation that they were a couple.

Cristiano and Georgina made their Instagram debut as a couple in March 2017 when the footballer posted a sweet snap of them cuddling on a couch.

In June of that year, the footballer welcomed twins Mateo and Eva via surrogacy and then five months later, Georgina gave birth to their daughter, Alana Martina.

Then the next month, they announced they were expecting, giving birth to their daughter Alana Martina in November.

The following month, Georgina posed for photos with her newborn daughter Alana for the cover of HOLA!

Revealing how they came up with the name for their daughter, she said: ‘We both chose the name. Cristiano chose Alana and I chose Martina.

‘We decided to give her both names that each of us chose. We thought it was even more special.’

In 2022, the couple welcomed twins; however, their baby boy tragically died during childbirth, while his sister, Bella Esmeralda, survived.

Opening up about how he and Georgina coped with the heartache of losing a baby, the footballer told Piers Morgan at the time: ‘I feel that we always support each other. Sometimes it’s like in a relationship you have good moments, bad moments it is part of the journey.

‘But probably in that period, we consolidated it more, the relationship, but even in the worst moments you have to meet, you have to make the thing smooth.

‘I learned so many things. I saw the other perspective of the life. My daughter, now who is three years old, she is the queen of the family, who made the house happy.

‘Everything happens for a reason. I believe in that. So, we are a blessed family. I am proud of that.’

After nearly a decade together, fans were then desperate to know when Georgina and Cristiano would marry, with their family now complete.

However, in an interview with Marca last year, the Portuguese admitted he hadn’t yet married Georgina because he hadn’t felt the ‘click’.

He said: ‘I always tell her, “when we get that click”. Like everything with our life, and she knows what I’m talking about.

‘It could be in a year or it could be in six months or it could be in a month. I’m 1000 per cent sure that it’ll happen.’

In August, the footballer finally popped the question with a giant diamond ring.

Fans speculated the pair got engaged the month before after the model shared pictures of a bridal-themed dinner, complete with ‘C heart G’ pillows, a six-piece band and stunning white flower arrangements.

She also wore a giant sparkler on her wedding ring finger, hinting at the pair’s secret engagement.

Georgina gleefully shared the news on Instagram with a photo of her glitzy engagement ring. ‘Yes I do. In this and in all my lives,’ she wrote in a heartfelt caption.

Cristiano then revealed that two of his children inspired him to give Georgina a ‘not-so romantic’ and off-the-cuff proposal.

He revealed that he didn’t plan to propose to the ‘woman of his life’ the night they got engaged, but it felt like the ‘right time’.

‘It was like 1am. My daughters were in bed sleeping,’ the 41-year-old told Piers Morgan in part one of their new interview.

He said: ‘One of my friends gave me the ring to offer Gio (Georgina) and as I was giving her the ring, my two kids come in and say “Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to mum and you’re going to ask her to get married.”

‘I said, “Wow, this is the right moment to say yes.” It was the time. I knew that I was going to do it one day but I hadn’t planned to do it then.

‘Because my daughters said that and my friends were filming, it was what I wanted and I offered (the ring). I didn’t (get on one knee) because I wasn’t prepared but it was a beautiful moment. I made a speech.

‘It was simple, I’m not a very romantic guy. Well, I am, but I’m not very romantic, not the kind of guy who brings flowers every week to the home. But I’m romantic in my way. It was beautiful and I knew that it’s the woman of my life so I did that and I hope that I did it well.’

Asked about when they plan to tie the knot, the footballer joked: ‘Not yet. We plan to do it after the World Cup with the trophy! But she is not the person that likes big parties. She doesn’t like it. She likes private things. So I will respect these decisions.

‘One thing that I love, she didn’t care about the ring. She asked me if I was honest and I said, “I want you and I want to marry you.” I didn’t cry but I had tears on my eyes.’

Experts estimated that Cristiano splashed out an astonishing £1.5million on Georgina’s engagement ring.

Golden Bachelorette Star Chock Chapple Undergoes Prostate Removal After Cancer Diagnosis Scare

The victor from the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelorette, Chock Chapple, has come forward with personal health news, sharing that he had surgery to remove his prostate following a concerning cancer diagnosis.

In a candid Instagram post on Tuesday, August 11, the 62-year-old Chapple explained the details of his medical journey. Alongside his fiancée, Joan Vassos, who is 63, he mentioned from their Wichita, Kansas, home, “Elevated PSA levels, a biopsy and MRI led to another biopsy where it turned aggressive. Last Wednesday, I underwent surgery to have my prostate removed.” The PSA, or prostate-specific antigen, is a protein measured in blood exams, and testing this ensures it remains within safe parameters, according to the National Cancer Institute.

Continuing on a heartfelt note, Chapple, who lost his mother to cancer, opened up about his motivations citing his family as pivotal. “My son questioned me about how much time I wish to cherish with my grandkids. That made my choice apparent. Have the surgery. Stay here—for them, for Joan, for the long haul.” To other men, he advised, “Get evaluated. Check your PSA. Being proactive is crucial. We’re still planning our trip to Europe at the end of August—I’ve got my travel clearance and can’t wait!”

Chapple, who has two children from his previous marriage to Heather Chapple, elaborated within the video how routine blood work, done post his stint on The Golden Bachelorette, flagged the health scare.

Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple Relationship Timeline

Joan Vassos, the pioneering Golden Bachelorette lead, discovered her ‘happily ever after’ with Chock Chapple. During the ABC reality show, which kicked off in September 2024, Joan encountered 24 potential partners, ultimately choosing Chock after a romantic proposal on the stunning beaches of Bora Bora. From their very first date at Disneyland, Joan felt there could be a forever in their future.

“When I got off the show, I had a blood test. It showed that I had an elevated PSA so we monitored it for a while and my PSA kept increasing. I made the decision just to go and have it removed,” he recalled before sharing insight into his healing.

“Recovery’s been really rough, I will admit, I’ve had a number of surgeries and this one’s a little unique, but I’m glad I had it done,” he said.

Vassos, who is mom to four of her own children, has been by Chapple’s side throughout his recovery. “Joan’s been here taking care of me, cooking, and now I have the cleanest refrigerator in the world and I’ve eaten really good. Our goal is to put 20 pounds on me,” Chapple said before Vassos spoke to fans.

Chock Chapple Responds to Fans Who Called Him 'A Guy With No Commitments' Before Joan Vassos Proposal

Chock Chapple wants it to be known he was more than ready to propose to Joan Vassos. “There’s a little bit of backstory on this, and I want to explain this because I did catch some heat on social media for being a guy with no commitments,” Chock, 61, told Us Weekly during the couple’s […]

“He’s a brave guy. He’s actually a really good patient. He surprised me because he’s had a couple of colds around me and he acts like a baby,” she joked. “He’s super brave for this one and I’m glad he made the decision that he made. I want to keep him around for the rest of my life.”

The couple found love in the inaugural season of ABC’s The Golden Bachelorette in 2024, a union that resulted in Chapple proposing to Vassos by the beach. As the duo count down to their European vacation, they continue to navigate their relationship from differing states — Joan resides in Maryland, while Chapple lives in Wichita.

North Korea Test Fires Ballistic Missile Amid US-South Korea Military Exercise Preparations

In a move that continues to rattle international waters, North Korea has fired yet another ballistic missile, as confirmed on Tuesday. This marks the nation’s second missile test in just under a week’s time.

The announcement of this latest development was made by Japan’s prime minister’s office. As of now, specifics concerning the missile’s path, its flight range, and its landing site remain undisclosed.

In response, the United States military has actively begun tracking the missile’s launch while engaging in consultations with allied nations and partners across the region.

The U.S. Pacific Command issued a statement acknowledging awareness of the missile launch, emphasizing ongoing collaborations with allied countries. “Our initial assessments suggest these incidents do not pose any immediate threat to US personnel, US territory, or our allies,” the statement noted. “The United States continues to uphold its commitment to defend both the US homeland and our regional allies.”

The latest launch comes less than a week after North Korea test-fired a short-range ballistic missile from its eastern Wonsan area on Aug. 5.

That missile landed in waters off North Korea’s east coast and did not reach Japanese territory, Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi said following the launch.

Koizumi said North Korea’s repeated missile launches pose a threat to Japan and the region, and Tokyo lodged a protest with Pyongyang through their embassies in Beijing.

South Korea’s military bolstered its surveillance posture and coordinated with the U.S. and Japan following the Aug. 5 launch, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.

South Korea’s presidential national security council called that launch “a provocation” that violated U.N. Security Council resolutions and urged North Korea to stop its missile activity.

The launches come ahead of annual joint military exercises between the U.S. and South Korea, which are typically held during the second half of August.

“This annual exercise aims to build understanding between Combined Forces Command, United States Forces Korea, the United Nations Command, and ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), ROK government agency, ensuring their ability to fortify the combined defense posture and enhance Alliance response capabilities against a spectrum of security threats,” United States Forces Korea has said of the Ulchi Freedom Shield exercises.

“It will feature live, virtual, constructive and field-based training, engaging personnel from the various military services,” it added.

U.S. and South Korean officials have said the training is defensive in nature, while North Korea has characterized the exercises as preparation for an invasion and has often responded to military drills with missile tests.

The Aug. 5 test was North Korea’s first ballistic missile launch since late June, when it tested a tactical ballistic missile carrying what state media described as a “special mission” warhead along with other weapons.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said following those tests that his military needed to bolster its “deadly and destructive offensive posture.”

Comprehensive John Stewart Guide: Everything to Know Before Watching Lanterns

0

In an exciting development for DC Universe fans, “Lanterns” is set to showcase John Stewart (played by Aaron Pierre) as the newest live-action Green Lantern. However, this isn’t the John Stewart that’s known for being at the zenith of his powers. Teasers, like the trailer shown at Comic-Con, have revealed Stewart as an apprentice under the tutelage of Hal Jordan (portrayed by Kyle Chandler). Jordan, known for his own Green Lantern prestige, seems less than thrilled with mentoring the up-and-coming Stewart. For those unfamiliar with Stewart’s comic book origins and his potential growth throughout “Lanterns” and future DCU endeavors, checkout Looper’s video above for a comprehensive overview.

Partnering John Stewart with Hal Jordan is a noteworthy decision, given Jordan’s iconic status within the DC Comics realm. Stewart wasn’t the first Green Lantern to light up the page, but his debut was groundbreaking, primarily due to his role as a prominent Black superhero. His narrative depth and intensity set him apart, offering a stark contrast to the Lanterns who came before him.

John Stewart will usher in a more serious era for Green Lanterns

Portrayals of Green Lanterns in film and television have had a tumultuous journey. The 2011 film, led by Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, is notorious for its shortcomings. Contrastingly, Nathan Fillion found better success with his comedic take on Guy Gardner, introduced in “Superman.” While Gardner’s portrayal showcased the formidable capabilities of a Green Lantern’s power ring, it leaned heavily into humor, missing the mark for showcasing the Lanterns’ gravitas.

The DCU’s choice to spotlight a more earnest facet of the Green Lantern Corps is timely and necessary. Their legends are steeped in conflict, formidable challenges, and dramatic lore that often gets overshadowed by vibrant alien aesthetics and the grandiose space opera vibe typical of their tales. It’s about time the franchise dives into the serious and weighty narrative that the Green Lanterns truly embody.

Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King set out to present them in a far more serious light with HBO’s “Lanterns,” and honestly? John Stewart, who you can learn more about in Looper’s video above, is the perfect Lantern for that.
