Growing pressure mounts on Congressman Max Miller as calls for his resignation intensify. Allegations have surfaced accusing him of abusing his ex-wife and their young child, claims he vehemently denies, creating turmoil as he considers his political future in the U.S. House of Representatives.

During a comprehensive livestream on X, held Sunday morning, Miller adamantly refuted every allegation of physical abuse levied by his ex-wife, Emily Moreno. Emily, who is connected to Ohio politics as the daughter of Senator Bernie Moreno, has made these accusations public since their marriage ended.

In a bid to vindicate himself, Miller shared a collection of audio and video recordings spanning his relationship with Emily Moreno, attempting to dismantle the allegations through transparency to the public.

A recorded audio clip, shared by Miller as part of his defense strategy, unexpectedly captures Emily Moreno accusing him of drug use, complicating his attempt to maintain his reputation.

In a candid moment from these recordings, Emily Moreno directly queries Miller, saying, ‘You’ve never recorded one of our conversations?’ hinting at further complexities in their contentious exchanges.

‘I don’t,’ he responded. ‘I have never gone into your cellphone. And I’ve never gone into your computer. And I’ve never sneaked into your backpack,’ Miller said.

Emily Moreno then admitted to going through his backpack ‘because I truly do believe you have a drug problem.’ 

According to the audio recording, she said that she was concerned about his usage of marijuana, and also found needles by his bed, which she allegedly took photos of.

She called it a ‘huge impetus for why I left,’ in the recordings put out by Miller.

He denied having any needles by his bed and said he was happy to take any drug test she would like. 

In another recording he released, Miller admitted to taking testosterone replacement therapy and claimed he had been open with Emily about it.

In the video he released on Sunday, Miller insisted that he will not drop out of the race, stating: ‘I’m winning in November.’

Miller’s office told the Daily Mail, ‘Other parties have chosen to relentlessly defame him and now he is sticking up for himself. ‘

‘All of the allegations that have been made against him have been found to be unsubstantiated,’ said his Deputy Chief Abigail Angelos.

Miller has also been accused by Emily Moreno of physically abusing her and their young daughter, which he has denied.

After the bombshell broadcast, Emily’s father, sitting Senator Bernie Moreno, claimed that Miller has ‘privately admitted’ he ‘needs serious psychological help,’ and called his former son-in-law a ‘danger.’

Senator Moreno also shared his view that his former son-in-law should not continue to serve in elected office, despite his past backing.

‘If there are any basic standards of character required to hold elected office, Max Miller fails them,’ the elder Moreno wrote. 

‘He should not serve in the House of Representatives. I believe Max Miller needs to seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake. I believe he should not be free to continue endangering others until he does,’ Senator Moreno added in his Sunday post on X.

But other top Republicans have not been as eager to denounce Miller.

When President Donald Trump was asked about the domestic abuse allegations against Miller in the Oval Office at the White House on Monday, he noted, ‘It’s a very sad thing. I know Max, he’s a good person, I always thought he was a very good person and I’m going to let the families figure it out,

‘It’s a very sad thing. It’s accusations. And I’m going to let them figure it out,’ Trump added.

On Sunday night, Trump told reporters he had ‘just learned about’ the allegations before being asked about them on Air Force One.

‘I’m going to look at it. I mean, so far, it’s accusations. I’ll be looking at it, yep,’ Trump told reporters, without answering whether or not Miller should resign on Sunday.

One X user pointed out that Miller had previously been accused of misconduct by another former partner, Stephanie Grisham, who was one of the White House press secretaries in the first Trump administration. 

Miller’s relationship with Grisham came to an end in 2020 when he allegedly pushed her against a wall and slapped her after she accused him of cheating, according to a 2020 Politico report.

In October 2021, Grisham wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post claiming that the Trumps ‘didn’t seem to care’ when she told them her relationship with Miller had turned ‘abusive.’

Miller filed a libel suit against Grisham in 2021, which was voluntarily later dismissed with prejudice after the parties settled out of court before reaching a jury trial. 

The Daily Mail reached out to Grisham for comment. 

Sarah Matthews, an Ohio native and a former Trump White House staffer from the first administration who is now a contributor to anti-Trump Republican publication The Bulwark, noted on X, ‘I’m glad Senator Moreno has decided to speak publicly, even if it came later than many hoped.’

‘This is a devastating situation for everyone involved, but one thing is increasingly clear: @RepMaxMiller is not fit to serve in Congress,’ Matthews added.

Vice President JD Vance, another Ohio native and US Senator alongside Bernie Moreno, has not weighed in on the matter. The Daily Mail reached out to Vance’s team for comment. 

Miller denied all allegations made against him by his ex-wife during his livestream and said that he will provide evidence to prove his innocence.

‘Let me begin with the most painful accusation of all, I have never abused our daughter,’ Miller stated, clearly reading off a script during his Sunday address.

‘I also want to address the allegations of domestic abuse. I categorically deny abusing my former wife,’ he continued.

Emails between the former partners revealed that Moreno asked him why their daughter had what appeared to be a bruise on her neck.

Miller told Moreno the two were ‘going finger painting,’ and provided images of the activity both to his ex-wife at the time, documents he released to the public showed.

The ‘fingerpainting’ exchange allegedly took place ‘just two weeks ago in mid-July.’ Miller added that Moreno took their ‘daughter to the hospital,’ and that ‘she could not wait to take her to the emergency room.’

In his speech on Sunday, Miller defiantly stated that Emily Moreno’s allegations of abuse ‘are incredibly serious criminal accusations, concluding, If these accusations were true, I would be in jail. I would be.’ No criminal charges have been brought against Miller.

A number of times during his remarks, Miller seemed to struggle to read his prepared remarks. 

In response to Miller’s video, Emily Moreno’s spokesman, Stefan Mychajliw, wrote on X that ‘no loving parent would have ever used their daughter as a PR pawn to save their own political career.’ 

Miller’s congressional seat, Ohio’s 7th district, is currently rated ‘Likely Republican’ by the Cook Political Report. It was moved from the ‘Solid Republican’ category on June 18th of this year, and has a partisan voter index of R+5. Miller won his race in 2024 with 51.1 percent of the vote.

Brian Poindexter, the Democratic nominee in the seat who made it through the primary with the help of backers like Bernie Sanders and Ro Khanna, wrote on X Sunday after Miller’s address that ‘no one credibly accused of holding a gun to his wife’s head and breaking their two-year-old daughter’s collarbone belongs in the halls of power.’ Miller has denied such allegations.

Republican JR Majweski, who ran in Ohio’s 9th district in 2024, has indicated that he would run for Miller’s seat if the incumbent were to drop out. 

The deadline for Ohio Republicans to start the process to replace Miller on the ballot is this Wednesday, August 5, at 4:00 PM.

The Daily Mail has reached out for comment to Miller’s congressional office, his legal team, and Emily Moreno’s lawyer.

In a rare reunion, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver were photographed together, marking more than ten years since they parted ways.

The heartwarming image was shared by their daughter, Katherine Schwarzenegger, as she celebrated her father’s 79th birthday on Instagram this past Thursday.

“Happy Birthday, Dad ❤️,” wrote Katherine, the eldest of Arnold’s children, in her touching message. She added, “So lucky you’re ours… and even luckier our kids get you as Opa.”

Katherine, 36, started her Instagram tribute with nostalgic photos featuring herself alongside the famous actor.

In the middle of the photo carousel, Shriver appeared in what seemed to be a recent picture with Arnold, adding a poignant touch to the collection.

The journalist, 70, and her ex-husband were both bundled up and sitting beside each other in the ski trip snap.

Katherine posted another picture from the same family vacation, featuring her younger brother Patrick Schwarzenegger — and the “White Lotus” alum, 32, commented with multiple red heart emojis.

It is unclear whether the siblings’ brother and sister, Christopher Schwarzenegger and Christina Schwarzenegger, were also present for the getaway.

Social media users gushed over Arnold and Shriver seemingly “still get[ting] along” in the comments section.

The duo, notably, both appeared in Katherine’s 2024 Instagram post documenting a different ski trip, but they were not photographed that time around.

The former couple, who wed in April 1986, separated 25 years later when news broke that Arnold fathered son Joseph Baena with the family’s former housekeeper Mildred Baena.

Arnold and Shriver’s divorce was finalized in December 2021.

The “Terminator” star clarified to the Hollywood Reporter in 2023 that he remained “very close” to his former spouse and considered her a “really good friend.”

“Even though we had this drama, we did Easter together, Mother’s Day together, the Christmases together, all birthdays — everything together,” he gushed at the time. “If there’s Oscars for how to handle divorce, Maria and I should get it for having the least amount of impact on the kids.”

In a March 2025 podcast episode, Shriver agreed “there will always be love” between herself and Arnold.

Whether slathered on a piece of toast, melted seamlessly into sauces, or mixed vigorously into a cake batter, butter has cemented its place as an essential part of culinary tradition.

Traditionally crafted by churning cream until the fat separates from buttermilk, butter has often been accompanied by health warnings. Its high saturated fat content is known to elevate LDL cholesterol levels, often referred to as ‘bad’ cholesterol, which can in turn increase heart disease risk.

However, recently, butter is experiencing a renaissance, shedding its role as just another ingredient and stepping into the spotlight.

On the social platform TikTok, creator Mary Alexis has captivated millions, with viral videos showing her indulging in towering heaps of butter enveloped in frosting. Inspired by her, others have jumped on the trend, posting videos of themselves enjoying entire blocks of butter adorned with an array of accompaniments like pasta sauce, guacamole, molasses, chocolate mousse, and even more butter.

This butter craze extends beyond digital borders. At New York City’s Quality Bistro, diners can indulge in a ‘butter service’. Here, a server theatrically prepares a sizable portion of butter, spreads it lavishly onto a board, and embellishes it with salts and spices, serving it with an extra helping of buttered toast for a decadent experience.

In London, the Pembroke Club in Belgravia made headlines earlier this year by advertising for a ‘butter sommelier’. And in Paris, July saw the opening of the world’s first ‘butter bar’, Le Butter Shop, where customers can sample loaf-sized butters in a range of flavours.

Butter fads aren’t entirely new. In the late 2000s, ‘bulletproof coffee’ – coffee blended with butter – became popular among people hoping to suppress their appetite and sharpen their focus.

But while few nutrition experts would recommend eating sticks of butter or adding it to your morning coffee, what actually happens if you regularly consume butter in these quantities?

According to Sophie Medlin, a consultant dietitian at CityDietitians, ‘there’s nothing wrong with appreciating high-quality butter occasionally, but making it the star of every meal is a different story’.

She said: ‘Bread and butter served before a meal can add a substantial number of calories before you’ve even started eating, making it easier to consume more than you need overall. 

‘From a nutritional perspective, it also displaces foods we know are beneficial for heart health, such as vegetables, pulses, wholegrains and sources of unsaturated fats.’

Specifically, Ms Medlin highlights that when it comes to butter portions, ‘for most people, a thin scraping on toast or using a small amount in cooking is perfectly reasonable.

‘The problem comes when butter is piled onto bread or becomes a major ingredient in several meals every day – the biggest concern is cardiovascular health.

‘A diet consistently high in saturated fat can increase LDL (‘bad’) cholesterol, which is a major risk factor for heart attacks and strokes.

‘Large amounts of butter can also contribute to excess calorie intake, increasing the risk of weight gain over time.’

A typical 250g block of butter contains around 1,860 calories – almost an entire day’s worth of energy for many adults.

It also packs 130g of saturated fat, more than four times the UK’s recommended daily maximum for men (30g) and more than six times the recommendation for women (20g).

That doesn’t mean butter is inherently unhealthy. Eaten in moderation, it can form part of a balanced diet and does provide some beneficial nutrients.

According to Ms Medlin: ‘Butter isn’t devoid of nutrition. It provides vitamins A and B12, contains small amounts of vitamins D and E, and provides iodine if made from milk from iodine-supplemented cattle.

‘It also contributes energy and fat, which help absorb fat-soluble vitamins.

‘However, these nutrients are available from many other foods that contain much less saturated fat.

‘So while butter can absolutely be part of a healthy diet, it’s generally not the best source of these nutrients if health is your primary goal.’ 

And when it comes to butter alternatives, Ms Medlin highlights that olive oil is a better substitute to serve with bread, explaining that ‘large studies consistently show that replacing saturated fats like butter with unsaturated fats such as olive oil is associated with lower LDL cholesterol and a reduced risk of heart disease.

‘That’s why olive oil is a cornerstone of Mediterranean-style diets, which have one of the strongest evidence bases for long-term health.’

Margarine, however, can vary in healthiness depending on the type.

Ms Medlin said: ‘Older margarines contained trans fats, which were harmful, but modern soft margarines sold in the UK are very different.

‘Many are made from vegetable oils and contain much more unsaturated fat than butter, making them a better option for heart health. They often also contain less saturated fat and may be fortified with vitamins A and D.

‘The best choices tend to be soft spreads in tubs rather than hard block margarines, which usually contain more saturated fat.’

Ultimately, when it comes to butter, Ms Medlin explains that it’s ok to slather it on toast from time to time, ‘one indulgent meal or special occasion isn’t what determines your long-term health. Our bodies respond to the overall pattern of what we eat over months and years.

‘If someone enjoys generous amounts of butter on holiday or at a special restaurant, that’s unlikely to have a meaningful impact if their usual diet is balanced. The issue is when social media encourages occasional treats to become everyday habits.’

The running back market is bustling with activity, especially after Bijan Robinson inked a lucrative deal on Tuesday morning.

Robinson has secured a groundbreaking three-year extension with the Atlanta Falcons valued at an astounding $75 million, including $51 million guaranteed and $37 million paid upfront. According to ESPN.com, this agreement crowns Robinson as the highest-paid running back in NFL history.

The Falcons’ star athlete was strategically sitting out of training camp team drills, hoping this move would speed up negotiations for a new contract.

While Robinson made sure to attend camp to avoid fines and stay compliant with league rules, he refrained from participating in any team activities as he lobbied for a fresh deal.
