A startling report has emerged, revealing that 2025 marked the deadliest year for antisemitic violence worldwide since 1994.

The J7 Large Communities’ Task Force Against Antisemitism has published its second annual report, detailing antisemitic incidents in the seven countries with the largest Jewish populations outside Israel. The report highlights that in 2025, 20 lives were tragically lost to antisemitic violence, with all fatal incidents occurring in these J7 nations.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) plays a crucial role as one of the two groups representing the Jewish diaspora in the United States within the J7. This collaboration unites similar organizations from Australia, Canada, Argentina, the U.S., the U.K., Germany, and France.

Aykan Erdemir, the Senior Director of Global Research and Diplomatic Affairs at ADL, emphasized to News Media that the report underscores the urgent need to address and counteract hate.

“This isn’t a warning sign anymore, it’s already happening,” Erdemir said. “If governments let antisemitism take root and perpetrators walk free, the violence won’t stop with Jewish communities. History shows Jews are the canary in the coal mine: when hatred against Jews rises unchecked, it’s an early warning that everyone’s safety and rights are at risk.”

The J7 report finds that there were over 23,000 antisemitic incidents in J7 countries throughout 2025 – this represented a 97% increase in violent incidents and a 136% increase in total antisemitic incidents since 2022.

The Hamas terror attacks of Oct. 7, 2023, sent antisemitic hate skyrocketing worldwide.

According to the report, each of the countries face an environment where antisemitism is “no longer confined to the fringes.” Countries are witnessing anti-Zionism associated with the conflict in Gaza becoming “a vehicle for antisemitic expression” and educational institutions becoming an “acute flashpoint” for hatred. Combined with growing online extremism, Jewish people “across the globe report hiding their Jewish identity in public” and questioning “whether they have a future in their home countries.”

Individually, the report shows how countries face their own unique challenges in quashing hatred.

Australia, which has seen a 270% increase in antisemitic incidents since 2021, was home to the Bondi Beach terror attack in December 2025, during which 15 people were killed. The report says that both Islamist and left-wing extremist threats in the country “need to be prioritized, and dealt with effectively.”

In Germany, a 215% increase in antisemitic incidents has been coupled with the highest per capita rate of incidents, with 69.8 incidents per 1,000 Jewish residents in 2025 for a total of 8,725 incidents.

The report said that normalization of hate “remains the most pressing challenge” in Germany, with the rise in incidents attributed to the “confluence of far-right ethno-nationalism, left-wing anti-Zionism, and Islamist extremism simultaneously.”

In Canada, which has experienced a 60% rise in antisemitic incidents since 2021, there is a concern that “foreign state interference” is at play, in addition to “the exploitation of domestic institutions by extremist networks.”

The U.S. has had a 131% increase in antisemitic incidents since 2021. Though antisemitic incidents declined significantly from 2024, the 6,274 antisemitic incidents tracked in 2025 included 300 reports of physical assault.

France has witnessed a rise in antisemitic incidents of 124% since 2021. The report notes that there is “a growing climate of discrimination” where Jews in France report being refused service, denied contracts and excluded from events.

In the U.K., which has experienced a 64% increase in antisemitic incidents since 2021, 48% of 3,700 antisemitic incidents were motivated by anti-Zionism, and 53% included references to the conflict involving Gaza.

Though the government in Argentina is pro-Israel, the country “has generated conspiratorial antisemitic backlash from the left and from fringe nationalist movements,” the report said. Since 2021, Argentina has seen a 46% increase in antisemitic incidents.

The J7 report also added a special chapter on antisemitism in Ireland, which is not a J7 country. While Ireland has only a 2,200-person Jewish community, it has reported 143 incidents of antisemitism. Despite antisemitism in Ireland taking hold “primarily in everyday settings,” unlike J7 countries, Ireland has no national plan for combating antisemitism and no security funding for the Jewish population.

Erdemir said that “the most urgent priority for every government should be protecting Jewish communities and institutions before they’re attacked, not after.” He called on law enforcement to “hold perpetrators fully accountable,” but said that “the real goal has to be stopping attacks before they happen and preventing Jews from being driven out of public spaces, not just responding once the damage is done.”

Erdemir said, “Governments can’t rely on security alone. It takes a whole-of-society effort, government, business, schools, civil society and everyday citizens, to root out the hate targeting Jewish communities worldwide. And because this hate crosses borders, so must the response: governments, international bodies and NGOs around the world need to work together, not in isolation.”

In a strong and poignant statement on the intersection of sports and identity, Seattle Storm center Stefanie Dolson made headlines with her choice of attire ahead of Tuesday’s game, a 105-95 loss to the Fever. At Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, she donned a tank top bearing the supportive message in a pre-game tunnel photo, aligning her personal beliefs with her public persona.

The tensions around this issue escalated with an anti-trans rally taking place ahead of the game. The event, reportedly “inspired by Sophie Cunningham,” was highlighted during a postgame press conference, drawing attention to the broader implications of the athlete’s commentary.

A significant crowd gathered outside Climate Pledge Arena, not only to back Cunningham but also to champion initiatives 638 and 011 in Washington state. These initiatives, as reported by ESPN, aim to restrict transgender students from participating in girls’ sports within state schools, adding another layer to the already complex discussion surrounding transgender rights in athletics.

After the game, a reporter asked Fever head coach Stephanie White about the anti-trans rally and Cunningham’s recent comments.

A Fever spokesperson immediately stepped in and responded with a statement from the organization.

“Neither our organization nor Sophie had any knowledge of this demonstration and no contact with its organizers,” the team spokesperson said while reading from a laptop computer.

“Our only goal as a team, whether at home or away, is to win basketball games and make Fever fans for life, and we are united in that mission. Anymore basketball questions?”

Cunningham and Fever superstar Caitlin Clark were not made available for postgame questions about the rally.

Cunningham was booed by Storm fans when she entered Tuesday’s game, as well as during her first free throw attempts.

Storm head coach Sonia Raman spoke of safety at the arena when she was asked about the pregame protest.

“Seattle and this organization and Climate Pledge, we always want to be an area where people feel welcome coming into this building,” Raman said. “I think we’ve always done a really good job with that.

“So, I know our organization was working closely with Climate Pledge and the security just to make sure that everybody feels safe and included and welcome when they walk in this door. From what I understand, that was successful.”

The High Court was the stage for an unusual phone hacking case featuring Prince Harry against the Daily Mail, described as so far removed from standard legal practice that hefty legal costs might fall upon him and his co-claimants, according to proceedings today.

The Mail’s publisher criticized the case, labeling the approach as reckless and utterly indefensible.

During the three-month trial earlier this year, certain actions were not merely unjust to the accused journalists but directly disregarded the judge’s multiple cautions about the trial’s proper conduct, the publisher contended.

In a striking judgment on July 7, journalists from the Mail were completely cleared when claims of hacking and other unethical tactics for story acquisition were dismissed entirely.

As the dust settles, the High Court is now deliberating over who will bear the costs of the unsuccessful, expansive £50 million litigation efforts led by notable figures including the Duke of Sussex, Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon, Sir Elton John and his spouse David Furnish, along with model Elizabeth Hurley, actress Sadie Frost, and former Lib Dem figure Sir Simon Hughes.

The Mail’s publisher Associated Newspapers argued the ‘egregious’ way the claimants and their legal team had conducted the case merited a court order that they pay costs on an ‘indemnity basis’.

Such an order would allow judges to go beyond ‘standard costs’ and force the claimants to bear the brunt of the full legal costs for both sides – though they would still be subject to a ‘reasonableness’ test.

Associated said its costs are around £34million.

In written submissions to today’s costs hearing, Associated Newspapers’ lawyers said: ‘The circumstances of the case, including the conduct of the claimants and those in their camp… take this case well outside of the norm.’

Associated’s lead barrister Antony White KC said the claimants’ individual cases were ‘pursued for the most part without any supporting documentary evidence and on the barest inferential basis’, as he tore through their conduct during the legal process.

He said: ‘The extent of this shifting case was highly unreasonable and inexcusable.

‘It led to significant costs and time being wasted by Associated in preparing to meet allegations, only to find them being subsequently abandoned or changed at trial.’

Highlighting the ‘weak and speculative nature of the claims’, Mr White also accused the claimants of shifting or abandoning altogether their own allegations when faced with the realisation there was nothing to back them up.

And he said the ‘scattergun approach of putting serious allegations to some witnesses, without identifying any supporting evidence, was improper and cavalier’.

Allegations that Mail journalists had engaged in voicemail interception were ‘particularly egregious’.

All the allegations were dismissed by the judge but Associated argued they had been improperly included in the trial as part of a political campaign to pressure the Government to order a new Leveson inquiry into press standards.

After the Mail’s victory earlier this month, Paul Dacre, Editor-in-Chief of Associated Newspapers, hailed the ruling as ‘an overwhelming vindication of our journalism’.

But the lengthy fight to clear the paper’s name came at significant financial cost to the publisher.

It also had a ‘lasting impact’ on the journalists whose reputations Harry and the others sought to sully with unfounded allegations.

The claimants’ lawyer, David Sherborne, told the court at the outset it would be a ‘catastrophe’ for Associated if his clients succeeded even in only some of their allegations.

But Mr White said elements of some of the most important claims, that Mr Dacre and other senior executives lied on oath to the Leveson Inquiry into Press standards, were ‘either not put to the witnesses at all or only partially put’.

He said: ‘All of this was done with the benefit of absolute privilege and in the glare of full publicity, courted by and on the claimants’ behalf.’

He also accused the group of ‘withholding the inspection of critically important documents’ that were damaging to their own case.

And he explained how Prince Harry and Baroness Lawrence were able to continue their denigration of the newspaper with an extraordinary statement shortly after Mr Justice Nicklin’s ruling, which they described as ‘a complete and obvious whitewash’.

The plot to bring down the Mail – codenamed Operation Bluebird – formed part of a political strategy to pressure the Government into holding a second Leveson inquiry, the court heard.

Their research team included Dr Evan Harris, the former head of Hacked Off campaign group, and convicted phone hacker-turned ‘whistleblower’ Graham Johnson, who set about recruiting star names to ‘sue the arse off the Mail’, the court heard.

Mr Justice Nicklin said in his ruling that a statement purportedly made by the claimants’ star witness, former private investigator Gavin Burrows, ‘has not been proved to be his statement’, nor were its ‘contents reliable’.

Associated argues that it must have been obvious prior to the issue of the claims, at least to solicitor Anjlee Sangani and Mr Johnson, that Mr Burrows’s evidence ‘had not been obtained and recorded in a manner which was professional, adequate, or which protected the integrity of the process by which a critical witness’s evidence was obtained’.

It said that his account as relayed by Mr Johnson ‘was on its face clearly extreme and not supported by any documents’.

Mr White said ‘any experienced lawyer exercising professional judgement should have recognised at this early stage that the “evidence” for the Burrows allegations was not reliable unless corroborated.’

Baroness Lawrence was directly introduced to the litigation by Prince Harry, and Mr White said it was ‘no coincidence’ that hers was the first name used in the claimants’ press release in 2022 announcing the intention to sue Associated.

Mr White said this was done ‘in a blaze of publicity’, given her family’s long-running positive relationship with the Mail after it successfully campaigned over years to bring two of her son’s murderers to justice.

Mr White said the allegations generated ‘enormous publicity’ to the detriment of Associated – with the tacit aim of encouraging other famous faces to join their ranks.

He said: ‘Not only did the press release list – in lurid detail – allegations of serious UIG (unlawful information gathering) by Associated, it also said the claimants had seen “compelling and highly distressing evidence” said to be only the “tip of the iceberg”.

‘None of the allegations made in the press release was upheld by the court.’

Mr White told the court the press release was ‘a monstrous thing to publish’.

He said the claimants ‘knew that this was an all-out attack on Associated’.

He added: ‘They were at pains to emphasise that there were others who could join the bandwagon.’

Mr White also said he was ‘sad’ to say that Baroness Lawrence was ‘recruited as the national treasure’, after the trial heard previous considerations of inviting Gary Lineker even though he ‘has no dead children’.

Mr White said Prince Harry’s lawyers ‘persistently refused’ to hand over documents gathered by its research team for scrutiny – a standard part of the court process – and were tardy in producing other material.

This ‘dramatically increased’ Associated’s costs, he said.

And the ‘chaotic and ill-disciplined’ manner of the claimants’ allegations during the trial – introducing entirely new claims while completely ditching others – ‘led to significant costs and time being wasted by Associated in preparing to meet allegations which were abandoned,’ he said.

Mr White added: ‘The extent of this shifting case was highly unreasonable and inexcusable.’

Addressing the issue of expanded costs, Mr White told the judge: ‘If the claimants’ conduct in these proceedings does not attract an order for indemnity costs then it is difficult to see what case would.’

Mr Sherborne, for Prince Harry and the others, said it would be ‘unjust’ for the judge to award costs on an indemnity basis.

In documents submitted to the court for today’s hearing, the claimants said their allegations against the Mail ‘were neither speculative nor weak’.

The claimants’ legal team acknowledged that, ‘if one combs through the judgment, it is possible to identify instances where the court expressed some concern about the conduct of the litigation in a particular respect.’

But these comments ‘must be weighed in the balance of the court’s holistic assessment of all the circumstances across what has been an enormous piece of litigation,’ they said.

They described Associated’s legal bill as ‘astonishingly high’, and suggested the publisher’s approach was to ‘teach the claimants a lesson’ by seeking the maximum possible financial redress.

Mr Sherborne said: ‘Associated have adopted a “no expense spared” approach to this litigation and such costs should not be condoned by the court from an inter partes perspective.’

He added: ‘It would have a particularly harsh impact on the seven individual claimants in these proceedings, who will bear personal liability for Associated’s costs in excess of their [insurance] cover.

‘They have approached this litigation in good faith, under the burden of decades of intense, intrusive media scrutiny into their private lives.’

He said it was ‘reasonable to expect that there will be evolution’ in how the claimants’ case was put and advanced at a trial such as this.

The court heard the claimants only obtained insurance cover of a combined £16.2million. 

The hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice in London is listed to last for up to two days.

None of the claimants were present in court today. 

Mr Justice Nicklin is expected to return his judgment at a later stage.

In a devastating turn of events, a Michigan mother, who was a mother to six children, returned home from what was described as the trip of a lifetime, only to face a heartbreaking tragedy. Her husband, recently unemployed, allegedly killed their entire family before taking his own life, according to authorities. Disturbingly, newly released 911 dispatch recordings reveal the fiery aftermath of this tragic incident.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office reported that all eight family members, including six children and two adults, were discovered deceased in a Grand Haven Township residence last Friday as emergency crews responded to a house fire. Each of the victims had suffered gunshot wounds, leading the investigation to be classified as a suspicious death case.

On Monday, officials publicly identified the adults as 47-year-old Kristopher Karolkiewicz and 39-year-old Amanda Karolkiewicz. While the identities of the children were withheld, authorities confirmed that the victims were four boys aged 15, 12, 11, and 5, alongside two girls, both aged 11. Notably, two of the children in the family were adopted.

The investigation pointed to Kristopher Karolkiewicz as the suspect in this tragic murder-suicide, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.

Amanda Karolkiewicz, who went by Mandy, returned to Michigan from her trip of a lifetime to China with her two adopted girls just days before the murder-suicide.

In one image, Mandy and two of the girls pose in traditional Chinese hanfu, their hair styled and faces made up, each holding a decorative fan against a painted floral backdrop.

The mother called it one of the “funniest and coolest” experiences of her life.

Her final TikTok post was made on July 17, with Mandy writing, “We are so ready to be home sweet home!”

Mandy’s TikTok told the story of a family that seemed to have it all. Disney in Shanghai. Cobblestone streets overseas. Lazy afternoons at the pool. A beach photo of her and her husband, arms wrapped around each other. And the kids, all six, turning up again and again in the everyday moments most parents live for.

However, a Reddit account belonging to Mandy shows their marriage wasn’t as picture-perfect as it appeared.

In a 2024 post, Mandy wrote that there was infidelity in the marriage.

“He was divorced and older than me … fast forward ten years and five kids, he was cheating with the intern again — the same age I was when I was the intern,” she allegedly wrote.

“After about a year of self-loathing I remember crying and looking at myself in the mirror and realizing how f—– up it was that I was the one who was living so miserably because of what he did,” she allegedly wrote.

Mandy made frequent posts in the “AsOneAfterInfidelity” Reddit, writing she couldn’t stomach the idea of leaving him.

“We have six kids, so the idea of leaving is insanely terrifying,” Mandy allegedly wrote. “He’s always had major red flags that I ignored due to my own trauma and anxious attachment.”

The couple had been married 17 years when they were found dead, along with their children, in their Grand Haven home.

Kristopher Karolkiewicz worked at the American Heart Association until July 2026, when his employment ended, according to a spokesperson for the organization.

“The American Heart Association is aware that one of its former staff members was among those who perished under tragic circumstances last week in a western Michigan home. Kristopher Karolkiewicz was an employee of the American Heart Association from September of 2023 until earlier this month, July 2026, when his employment ended,” the spokesman said. “During his time with our organization, he served as a national vice president of sales and marketing, supporting the division of the Heart Association responsible for CPR and first aid training and products.”

“As an organization with professional staff who are dedicated to helping others, we are devastated by the news out of Michigan, and our thoughts are with the loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragedy,” he continued.

Authorities said Karolkiewicz started the fire in numerous places throughout the house after carrying out the murders.

“The cause and origin of the residential fire remains under investigation by Michigan State Police arson investigators. However, preliminary indications are that the fire was intentionally set in numerous places throughout the interior of the residence. The family pets also perished due to the fire/smoke,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.

The Grand Haven Fire Department initially responded to reports of people being able to smell smoke in that area between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Friday, but firefighters couldn’t locate a fire.

Dispatch audio obtained by News Media indicated that the house was “full of smoke” that could be seen coming out the windows.

Just before 11:45 a.m., officials returned to the 14900 block of Riverside Trail after receiving reports of white smoke coming from a home there.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said there are no additional suspects.

Keke Palmer remains charmed by Sean Evans, even as news emerges that the “Hot Ones” host is exploring the world of dating apps.

During a Tuesday night interview, Jimmy Fallon brought up Palmer’s connection with the 40-year-old, keen to explore the dynamic between them.

“Everyone is buzzing about your dynamic with Sean Evans on ‘Hot Ones,'” Fallon remarked on “The Tonight Show.” “It’s clear there’s a spark. People adore seeing you two interact.”

Palmer responded with warmth, saying, “I love Sean. He truly is wonderful.”
