GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Douglas Alexander Strain, 23, was arrested yesterday and charged with six felonies after allegedly breaking into an apartment, punching a family member, and fleeing from deputies with a child in the car.
Strain allegedly arrived at a family member’s apartment yesterday and was denied entry; he had previously moved out of the apartment at the request of the victim. When the victim said he couldn’t come in, Strain allegedly went to the rear of the apartment and broke in by breaking a glass window in the door. When the victim tried to call 911, Strain allegedly took her cell phone, threw her to the ground, and punched her several times in the face. The victim reportedly lost consciousness, and suffered several obvious injuries.
Strain then told a 12-year-old relative to get in his car, and he drove away. Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and reportedly saw him leaving, but Strain allegedly refused to stop. The responding deputies reported that Strain’s actions placed the general public and the juvenile victim in danger. During the pursuit, the juvenile victim reportedly told Strain that deputies were behind him, and Strain reportedly said he was trying to keep him safe.
Strain eventually lost control of the car and crashed. Deputies took Strain into custody and provided medical aid to the juvenile victim.
Post Miranda, Strain reportedly made statements that were inconsistent with the evidence and statements from witnesses. When challenged about those statements, he reportedly asked to have a lawyer present.
Strain was previously arrested in 2022 for stealing a backpack from a student at Library West, but the charge was later dropped; he has no other local criminal history. He is currently being held without bond.

In my study on this topic, I noticed that Apostle Paul, who said in Philippians 4:7: “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ,” was promoted so highly that in 2 Corinthians 12:11, he said, “I’m not behind the greatest apostles.” When we talk about promotion, many of us think about titles. Titles are beautiful, but I will rather be a deacon that can raise the dead than be a National Pastor that cannot heal a fly.
I preached a message on total surrender one day in church. In those days, only a few members had cars. After the service, a young man came to me and said, “Daddy, from now on, I surrender all to Jesus.” I said, “Really?” He said, “Yes”. I then said, “Good. So, we will now be able to borrow your car tomorrow for a church assignment.” He replied, “But I have to go to work tomorrow”. I laughed and said, “I just wanted to show you that you haven’t surrendered all.” I only asked about the church borrowing his car, and that was difficult for him to agree to. What if I had asked for something bigger?
What could make an individual surrender totally to God and even serve Him without pay? I found the reason in Philippians 2:5-11 which is our Bible reading for today. It started by saying, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” It further told us how great Jesus was and how He humbled Himself unto the point of death, even the death on the cross. Then verse 9 says, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him…” At that point, I knew that the gain always outweighs the pain. Hebrews 12:2 says:

When you seek the things of God first, the other desires of your heart will also be granted unto you according to His will. When you lay your life down for God, He will surely honour you in return.
There is great joy awaiting anyone who surrenders totally to God. If you surrender all that you have to Him, He will give you more in return. Beloved, surrender all to God and He will bless you far beyond your imagination.

Now over 40 years later, his forest covers 1,390 acres—approximately the size of 15 football stadiums. Jadav left behind his formal education to give all his attention to the forest. His consecration “I’ll plant till my last breath” saw it all.
That kind of exemplary consecration to a worthy cause, which will always make a difference in life and ministry is what we find in the life of Joshua. In this passage, the children of Israel were excited at this time, having defeated all their enemies and settled in the Promised Land. Hence, Joshua called them to ponder on God’s faithfulness right from the Patriarchs’ time and confronted them to either choose to serve God exclusively or the gods of the Amorites while declaring his own personal resolve to serve the Lord with his household. Their promise to cleave unto the Lord made Joshua to make a covenant with the people that day.

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:
Many of us acknowledge that the Word of God, as the Scriptures tell us, “…is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…” (2 Timothy 3:16). Also, the Lord Jesus emphasized in John 15:3, “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” So, we understand that the Word of God does all these. That’s because the Word of God is the first glory of the Kingdom. Recall the experience of Moses in the Old Testament, part of which we read in our theme verse.
He had spent forty days and forty nights with God on Mount Sinai, receiving the Ten Commandments. And because he had been in communion with God, when he came down from the mountain, his face radiated the glory of God such that everyone who saw him couldn’t look at him.
There was a distinctive glory on Moses that emanated from his attentive reception of God’s Word. Moses had to wear a veil to shroud the glory that had rubbed off on him (Exodus 34:29-33). That’s the effect of deep contemplation and meditation on the Word.
It’s crucial to recognize the difference in how Moses and the children of Israel perceived the Word. While the people viewed it as commandments and instructions, Moses understood God’s Word as life (Deuteronomy 32:46-47).
In the New Testament, this same glory is now within us. When you received the Word of God into your spirit for salvation, the Word came to live in you and the glory of God’s Word is now in your spirit. The best part of it is that the glory of the Word in us today outclasses what Moses had.
Ours, according to 2 Corinthians 3:7-11 (read the entire reference), is the more excellent glory: “…For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth; for if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious” (2 Corinthians 3:10-11).
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for the transformative power of your Word. As I contemplate, meditate and speak the Word, the glory of the Word in my life increases with greater intensity; I walk in supernatural grace, perfection, beauty and righteousness. I’m continually metamorphosed from glory to glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
