Barack Obama Meets with NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani Ahead of Preschool Reading Event

0

On Saturday, former President Barack Obama and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani shared a heartwarming experience at a local child care center. This marked their inaugural meeting, where they engaged with preschoolers through storytelling and a lively sing-along session.

This encounter occurs as Mamdani, a democratic socialist who recently commemorated his 100th day in office, seeks to establish a collaborative rapport with Republican President Donald Trump. The gathering reflects a broader effort to bridge political divides.

After entertaining the children with a reading of “Alone and Together” and a spirited rendition of “The Wheels on the Bus,” Obama and Mamdani chose not to address the media. Their focus remained on the joyful interaction with the young audience.

As a prominent figure in the Democratic Party, the former president has extended his support to Mamdani, who at 34, is making waves with his dynamic personality and progressive initiatives. Obama has offered to act as a mentor to the rising political star.

Since taking office in January, Mamdani has been dedicated to transforming New York City into a more affordable place for its residents. His campaign centered on redirecting governmental powers to better serve the city’s working-class citizens.

Mamdani has met twice with Trump at the White House in November and February to discuss issues affecting New York.

Despite those friendly meetings, their relationship has shown signs of strain recently, with Trump posting on social media Thursday that Mamdani was “DESTROYING New York” with his taxing policies and threatened to pull federal funding for the city.

Storm Team 3 Alert: Sunday’s Cold Front Brings Brief Showers and Rapid Temperature Drop

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The arrival of a cold front on Sunday is expected to bring scattered showers and a temporary drop in temperatures as the new week begins.

On Saturday, residents of the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry experienced scorching heat, with temperatures soaring into the lower 90s.

The Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport matched its daily high record from 1967, reaching a sweltering 93 degrees.

Westerly winds ushered in drier air, significantly reducing humidity levels and creating conditions favorable for fire hazards.

As the cold front approaches, humidity levels will rise again, particularly during the cooler nighttime hours, due to increasing moisture.

Burn bans remain in place through the weekend, so continue not to set fires.

Sunday starts out muggy with southwesterly winds in advance of a cold front. Expect more clouds as we await the boundary.

A few passing showers with a rumble of thunder or two are possible, but don’t bank on any meaningful rainfall.

Cooler northwesterly winds develop in the front’s wake, ushering in a refreshing start to the week.

Morning lows dip into the 40s and 50s, while afternoons will be sunny with 70s. Northeasterly winds will be breezy at times Monday and Tuesday.

High pressure builds back in yet again, bringing the heat for the end of the week.

The next meaningful opportunity for rain would come from a cross-country storm system around the end of April.

US Halts Nine Oil Tankers in Strategic Move to Enforce Sanctions on Iranian Ports

0

The United States military announced on Wednesday that it successfully prevented nine oil tankers from breaching a blockade imposed on Iranian ports. This strategic maneuver is part of broader efforts to enforce a maritime embargo on Iran’s coastal shipping routes.

According to a statement from the U.S. Central Command shared on X, all vessels attempting to navigate past the blockade have been intercepted. Within the first 48 hours of this operation, nine ships complied with orders from American forces to reverse their course and head back toward Iranian waters.

Sources from Fox News confirmed that these vessels were all oil tankers. A senior defense official assured that none of these ships required direct intervention or boarding by U.S. personnel to comply with the directive.

The U.S. has officially declared a blockade on Iranian ports along its coastlines, implementing this measure as a lawful action. In a stern warning broadcast by CENTCOM, a sailor advised all vessels to return to port if they were en route to Iran, emphasizing the seriousness of the blockade. “Do not attempt to breach the blockade,” the message cautioned. “Vessels will be boarded for interdiction and seizure if they are transiting to or from an Iranian port. If you do not comply, we are prepared to use force. The United States Navy is fully prepared to enforce this blockade.”

As part of the blockade mission, U.S. Central Command confirmed on Tuesday that guided-missile destroyers from the U.S. Navy are actively involved in this operation, impacting the flow of maritime traffic in and out of Iranian ports.

A senior U.S. defense official also confirmed to Fox News on Wednesday a report from Reuters that a U.S. destroyer interdicted two oil tankers that were trying to leave Iran on Tuesday.

A U.S. official told Reuters that the ships left Chabahar port in the Gulf of Oman before being contacted by the U.S. warship through radio communication.

“More than 10,000 U.S. Sailors, Marines, and Airmen along with over a dozen warships and dozens of aircraft are executing the mission to blockade ships entering and departing Iranian ports,” CENTCOM said in an earlier update. “During the first 24 hours, no ships made it past the U.S. blockade and 6 merchant vessels complied with direction from U.S. forces to turn around to re-enter an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman.”

“The blockade is being enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman,” it added. “U.S. forces are supporting freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports.”

CENTCOM did not immediately respond Wednesday to a request for comment from Fox News Digital regarding the reported interdiction of the oil tankers.

“U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers are among the assets executing a blockade mission impacting Iranian ports. The blockade is being enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or leaving coastal areas or ports in Iran,” CENTCOM also said Tuesday. “A typical destroyer has a crew of more than 300 Sailors that are highly trained in conducting offensive and defensive maritime operations.”

CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper added in a statement that “a blockade of Iranian ports has been fully implemented as U.S. forces maintain maritime superiority in the Middle East.”

Cooper said an estimated 90% of Iran’s economy is supported by international trade by sea.

“In less than 36 hours since the blockade was implemented, U.S. forces have completely halted economic trade going into and out of Iran by sea,” he also said.

Two Suspects Charged in Connection with South-Western Sydney Shootings: Authorities Crack Down on Local Violence

0

Today, charges have been laid against two individuals in connection with a series of alleged public shootings that took place in Sydney’s south-west. Authorities suspect these attacks were orchestrated by a notorious crime family operating in the area.

Yesterday, two homes came under fire in what police describe as a coordinated effort. The first attack targeted a residence on Fairmont Street in Merrylands. This property is linked to Raf Alammedine, who is reputedly the leader of a local criminal syndicate.

Shortly thereafter, gunfire erupted at another house on Woodstock Road in Guilford. This home is reportedly associated with Adam Al Ahmad, whose sibling, Assad, is considered to be a prominent figure within the Alammedine crime organization.

Trump Attends Dan Scavino’s Wedding Without Makeup, Surprising Attendees

One of Donald Trump’s most memorable makeup-free appearances took place at the wedding of his long-time aide, Dan Scavino. The event, held in February 2026, was a lavish affair at Mar-a-Lago, attracting a host of prominent figures from Trump’s circle. Attendees included high-profile names such as Marco Rubio, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Elon Musk.

Despite the high-profile guest list, Trump appeared to take a relaxed approach to his attire. He donned a dark blue suit with a white dress shirt and a striking cobalt blue tie. His hair, a bright blonde, was casually combed to the side, closely matching his notably pale complexion. Departing from his usual routine, Trump chose to skip his trademark burnt-orange bronzer, which left his skin looking noticeably lighter.

Nevertheless, Trump seemed to be in high spirits during the celebration, sharing jokes with Scavino and his bride that sparked laughter. The lighthearted exchange was captured in a photo that quickly spread online, leading to widespread commentary. Social media users humorously critiqued the president’s pale appearance, with one remarking, “The store ran out of Cheetos,” while another quipped about the absence of his usual bronzer, suggesting it might frighten children.

Despite his seemingly carefree approach to the wedding day, Trump was in good spirits, cracking jokes to Scavino and his new bride. Whatever Trump said had the newlyweds in stitches. The pic of the exchange wound up having the same effect on people online, as folks mercilessly roasted the president’s pale white visage. “The store ran out of Cheetos,” one jokester on X, formerly Twitter, replied to the snap. “Gosh, he does need the orange mask. He can give children nightmares without it,” another tweeted about Trump’s bronzer-less look.

Only a couple weeks after Scavino’s wedding, Trump had a ghastly makeup-free outing in Palm Beach.

Donald Trump goes makeup-less on the golf course

In February 2026, Donald Trump met with former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss at his Trump International Golf Club in Mar-a-Lago. To commemorate the meetup, Truss posted a photo on X of the pair posing together. “Right about everything. @realDonaldTrump,” she tweeted alongside the snap. The president wore a Republican-red shirt, loose-fitting black trousers, and completed the look with a bright white hat that had “USA” in gold lettering across the front.

The post brought out plenty of trolls, and not only because Truss had seemingly kowtowed to Trump with the caption, but folks couldn’t help but notice how unhealthy his pale skin made him look. “Of course Trump looks like he was just exhumed,” Keith Olbermann replied, leading the charge. “Wow he looks haggard,” another X user commented about POTUS’ face.

Fast forward a couple of months, and Trump looked ghostly on Easter with a makeup-free golf course appearance. Right-leaning social media influencer Meaghan Marie uploaded an Instagram carousel recapping her family enjoying Easter festivities at the Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C., in April 2026. The president posed with her family, and he looked to have come straight from the links as he sported a Trump-branded white golf shirt and the same white hat he wore in the pic with Truss earlier in the year. Trump struck his signature pose, as he flashed a gigantic smile along with a thumbs-up. There was no cakey orange-tinted bronzer on his face, and even with a shadow cast from his hat, it was still obvious how pale Trump’s skin looked.

Legendary ‘The Gambler’ Songwriter Don Schlitz Passes Away at 73: A Country Music Legacy Remembered

Renowned country songwriter Don Schlitz, best known for penning the iconic “The Gambler,” has passed away at the age of 73.

Originally from North Carolina, Schlitz died on Thursday in a Nashville hospital due to a sudden illness, as reported by the Grand Ole Opry. The exact cause of death remains undisclosed.

Country Music Association CEO, Sarah Trahern, expressed her sorrow in a statement released on Friday: “We are devastated by the loss of Don Schlitz. His devotion to his family, his North Carolina roots, and his passion for songs and fellow songwriters was unmatched.”

“That love was evident in every space he occupied, every stage he graced, and in every word he crafted,” she continued.

Trahern fondly recalled a recent evening they spent together: “As we were leaving after dinner, Don picked up a guitar and began to play. That’s the image I will cherish—Don with his guitar, smiling. His musical legacy will endure, inspiring countless artists and writers. He will be profoundly missed.”

Echoing that sentiment, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Kyle Young said, “Don Schlitz’s place as a songwriting great would be secure had he never written ‘The Gambler’ or had he only written ‘The Gambler.’ Nashville was richer for his presence and is lesser for his absence.”

Schlitz helped shape the sound and soul of artists like Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis and The Judds.

His lyrics fueled hits including “On the Other Hand,” “Forever and Ever, Amen” and “When You Say Nothing at All,” recorded by Keith Whitley and later by Alison Krauss.

Schlitz was born in 1952 and raised in Durham before packing his bags and heading to Nashville.

The country star was later inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

“I will never be able to believe that I deserve this, unless I receive it as a representative of my family, my mentors, my collaborators, my promoters and my friends,” he said in 2017. “That’s the only way I can deal with this.”

His breakout moment came with “The Gambler,” recorded by Rogers in 1978, a song that didn’t just define an era.

It expanded country music’s reach into the mainstream.

Rogers later praised Schlitz, saying, “Don doesn’t just write songs. He writes careers.”

Schlitz went on to pen tracks for a wide range of artists, from Tanya Tucker to Mary Chapin Carpenter, and even reunited Rogers with Dolly Parton for “You Can’t Make Old Friends.”

Despite his behind-the-scenes role, Schlitz earned a front-row place in country music history.

He was named ASCAP Country Songwriter of the Year four straight years from 1988 to 1991 and made history at the Opry as its only non-performing songwriter inductee in a century.

He debuted there in 2017 and joined as a member in 2022, a rare honor that underscored his influence far beyond the spotlight.

The Opry’s Saturday night show served as a tribute to his legacy.

Schlitz is survived by his wife, Stacey, his children and grandchildren — daughter Cory Dixon and her husband Matt Dixon; son Pete Schlitz and his wife Christian Webb Schlitz; grandchildren Roman, Gia, Isla and Lilah; brother Brad Schlitz; and sister Kathy Hinkley.

Unraveling Trump’s Social Media Rhetoric: Experts Decode the Meaning Behind His Provocative Posts

0

From the onset of his political journey, Donald Trump has carved out a unique niche as a political figure, distinguished by his raw demeanor and often startlingly candid communication style.

This approach, while divisive for over a decade, has recently baffled even his most loyal followers with his provocative posts on Truth Social. His comments about the conflict with Iran, which included threats of annihilation and unexpected religious exclamations, have left many in disbelief.

In the weeks following these seemingly erratic messages, senior officials within the White House conveyed to the Wall Street Journal that the posts were crafted to appear deliberately provocative, aiming to pressure Iran into negotiations.

Among his more notorious messages was a declaration made on Easter Sunday, where he proclaimed: ‘Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped in one, in Iran.’

He continued with an incendiary message, stating: ‘There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F***in’ Strait, you crazy b*****ds, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah,’ sparking widespread reaction.

The post drew significant backlash. Multiple Democrats suggested invoking the 25th Amendment, which allows the vice president and Cabinet officials to declare a president unfit for office.

One advisor told the Wall Street Journal that Trump said he came up with the idea himself, adding that he used language he thought Iranians would understand.

However, the president was reportedly concerned about the fallout, asking his advisors: ‘How’s it playing?’

Two days later, Trump issued a chilling warning that caused even more backlash, threatening Iran that a ‘whole civilization’ would die if negotiations were unsuccessful.

‘I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?’ he continued.

‘We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!’

He stood by the threats, appearing on Fox News shortly after to reiterate that he was ‘fine’ with the post’s message.

‘Remember, what do they say to us? For years, I’ve had to listen to them say, “Death to America,’ right?”‘ Trump told Fox host Maria Bartiromo.

‘So they’re allowed to say, ‘Death to America,” And what I’m referring and when I talk about civilization, it’ll be much different, because their military will be totally gone.’

A day after the post, sources told the Wall Street Journal that at a reception ahead of America’s 250th celebration, he told White House donors and staff that he deserved the Medal of Honor.

The president reportedly cited a story from his first term in office about flying into Iraq to visit the troops. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later said he was joking.

Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer called Trump ‘extremely sick’ for the threats, and Senator Patty Murray said the president was exhibiting ‘rantings of a bloodthirsty lunatic.’

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Trump’s ‘inability is more clear and dangerous than ever,’ and called on the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Leila Sadat, a professor of international criminal law at Washington University Law School, described the threat to The Atlantic as ‘basically an announcement that I’m about to commit war crimes at the very least—and possibly crimes against humanity and, in a worst-case scenario, genocide.’

Genocide scholars, military attorneys and human-rights lawyers voiced concern that the threat was in violation of Article II, Section 4 of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits the ‘threat or use of force’ against other nations.

However, White House aides reportedly saw the post as an attempt to motivate negotiations with Iran.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio had said he believed the strong language might bring Iranians to the table, according to the Wall Street Journal’s reporting.

Advisors also told the publication that Trump was hoping to scare the Iranians and end the conflict abroad.

The Trump administration has stood firm in favor of the military pursuit in Iran. Leavitt said the president has ‘remained a steady leader our country needs.’

‘President Trump campaigned proudly on his promise to deny the Iranian regime the ability to develop a nuclear weapon, which is what this noble operation accomplishes,’ she added.

Despite the administration’s steadfast support for the war, polling has indicated that the sentiment has not been felt nationwide.

New polling results from Politico showed that just 38 percent of Americans supported the strikes in Iran.

Nearly half of the respondents also said they believed Trump was spending too much time on international affairs rather than focusing on domestic issues.

Even though Trump cannot run for re-election, the polling could impact the midterms later this year.

Advisors told the Wall Street Journal that the midterms are still on his mind, and that in February, he told staff he ‘would have to eat dinner regardless’ when they asked whether a fundraising event should be canceled amid the war.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the White House for comment.

Lookman’s Heroic Goal Not Enough: Atletico Madrid Falls Short in Copa del Rey Final

Ademola Lookman found the back of the net, but his efforts were ultimately in vain as Atlético Madrid succumbed to Real Sociedad in a penalty shootout during the Copa del Rey final.

After a gripping 120 minutes of play at La Cartuja, the match concluded at 2-2, leading to a tense shootout where Real Sociedad emerged victorious, claiming their fourth Copa del Rey title.

The game began with Atlético Madrid on the back foot, as Ander Barrenetxea headed Real Sociedad into an early lead, capitalizing on a precise cross from Goncalo Guedes.

Lookman delivers in key moment

Nevertheless, Lookman swiftly brought Atlético back into contention, leveling the score in the 19th minute with a sharp finish following a well-placed pass from Antoine Griezmann.

Lookman restored parity in the 19th minute, finishing clinically from a pass by Antoine Griezmann.

However, Atlético fell behind again before halftime when Mikel Oyarzabal converted from the penalty spot following a foul involving goalkeeper Juan Musso.

Penalty shootout ends Atlético hopes

Atlético pushed for another equaliser and found it late through Julian Alvarez, whose strike in the 83rd minute forced extra time.

Despite dominating large periods, Atlético could not find a winner, with chances going unconverted in both normal time and extra time.

The final was ultimately decided on penalties, where Atlético faltered early. Alexander Sorloth and Alvarez were both denied by Unai Marrero, giving Real Sociedad a decisive advantage.

Real Sociedad converted their remaining efforts to seal victory, leaving Atlético and Lookman to settle for a runners-up finish despite a strong individual contribution from the Nigerian forward.

Open Heaven 19 April 2026 – Reversing Failure

Open Heaven 19 April 2026 Sunday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Reversing Failure

Open Heaven 19 April 2026 TOPIC – Reversing Failure

MEMORISE: Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; – Psalm 30:11 (KJV)

READ: Luke 5:1-10 (KJV)

1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:

10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Kings 4-5

Open Heaven 19 April 2026 MESSAGE

In today’s Bible reading, Peter had fished all night and caught nothing. Even though he toiled throughout the night he had nothing to show for his efforts. However, God turned his failure into an instant success by arranging a divine encounter for him. After hosting Jesus in his boat, he caught so many fishes that his net broke. As he couldn’t handle the size of his catch alone, he had to beckon to other fishermen to help him. Instantly, his failure was reversed, and he experienced a great turnaround.

When my mother was alive, I used to travel to Ilesha, which was very close to my hometown in western Nigeria, to visit her every two weeks. On one such visit, I was about to eat when a man was brought inside the house. At first glance, I thought he was a madman, based on his appearance. However, I learnt that he was a highly educated man who used to be very wealthy before the enemy attacked him in a very strange way. He had a problem that no doctor on earth could handle. He told me that insects of all kinds usually come out of his body at regular intervals, and he had spent everything he had seeking a solution to this spiritual attack. He had also sold all his clothes and had resorted to wearing rags. Thankfully, God had mercy on him and arranged a divine encounter for him. When he told me his story, I asked him, “Will you give your life to Jesus Christ?” I explained to him that his battle was one that only God could help him win. He gave his life to Jesus Christ, and we prayed a simple prayer before he left.

Two weeks after that incident, I went back to llesha to visit my mother as usual. Again, as I sat down to eat, a handsome, well-dressed man walked into the room. As he saw that I could not recognise him, he said, “It seems you don’t recognise me.” I replied, “I don’t think we have ever met.” He then responded, “I was the one you prayed for two weeks ago. Look at what God has done in my life in just two weeks!” Beloved, I pray that any cycle of failure in your life will be reversed for good, and you will begin to enjoy cycles of blessings and miracles, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 19 April 2026 PRAYER POINT

DCLM Daily Manna 19 April 2026 — Power Abuse

DCLM Daily Manna 19 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Power Abuse

TOPIC: Power Abuse (DCLM Daily Manna 19 April 2026)

KEY VERSE: Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins – 1 Kings 16:2

TEXT: 1 Kings 16:1-7 (KJV)

1 Then the word of the Lord came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,

2 Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

3 Behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house; and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

4 Him that dieth of Baasha in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth of his in the fields shall the fowls of the air eat.

5 Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

6 So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah: and Elah his son reigned in his stead.

7 And also by the hand of the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani came the word of the Lord against Baasha, and against his house, even for all the evil that he did in the sight of the Lord, in provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam; and because he killed him.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Alexander Hamilton, one of America’s Founding Fathers, who served as the first US Secretary of the Treasury, observed that “A fondness for power is implanted in most men, and it is natural to abuse it when acquired”. Today, many nations are grappling with challenges posed by the abuse of office, especially by public officeholders. Even the post-tenure probe, which has become traditional in many countries, has not deterred many from stealing public funds and commiting many acts of impunity. This is only a reflection of the depravity of man.

Baasha ruled Israel for over two decades. Even though he came to power through a coup that saw him kill his predecessor, it was God’s providence that permitted him to stay on. Yet he could not learn from history that “It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness”. He was not only wicked, but like Jeroboam, he led Israel to sin and to provoke the Holy One to anger with their iniquities.

God was particularly pained by the fact that Baasha was exalted “out of the dust”. He was most unworthy to be king in Israel and therefore should have been humbled by the significant office he was privileged to occupy. Instead, he became full of himself and waxed gross in wickedness. When the wicked mount the throne, the people are doomed. The throne of unrighteousness can only succeed in multiplying unrighteousness in the land. For this abuse, the Lord passed a fearful judgment upon Baasha and his posterity (verses 3 and 4).

As you reflect on the reign – and ruin – of Baasha this day, consider also how the Lord has elevated you to some position of influence. How much value have you added? Do you glorify the Lord with the privileges and opportunities given to you? You abuse authority when you act with impunity and leverage your privileged position to trample on or take advantage of others, or divert official items to personal property. You can avoid ending disastrously like Baasha if you will prayerfully resolve to walk only in the path of humility and righteousness.
