Delivery Driver Tanner Horner Faces Child Rape Accusations Amid Athena Strand Murder Charges

0

In a chilling turn of events, two women have come forward with testimonies against Tanner Horner, the FedEx driver who was already facing charges for the abduction and murder of seven-year-old Athena Strand. These women, whose identities remain protected, recounted in court how Horner raped them when they were teenagers, adding a disturbing layer to an already tragic case.

Their testimonies emerged during court proceedings on Tuesday, where prosecutors are arguing for the death penalty for Horner. The 34-year-old stands accused of snatching Athena from outside her home in Paradise, Texas, in November 2022. The young girl was playing alone when Horner, under the guise of delivering a Christmas gift—a box of Barbies—abducted her, ultimately resulting in her tragic death.

Horner has since admitted to the charges of capital murder and aggravated kidnapping. His heinous actions included strangling the child before disposing of her body in a nearby creek. The ongoing trial has been marked by grim forensic evidence presented by Jacqueline Ferrara, a forensic expert, who testified that DNA swabs revealed male DNA on Athena’s sexual assault kit. Additional tests uncovered blood and semen on Horner’s FedEx uniform.

Further forensic examination exposed more damning evidence, with Ferrara revealing that semen was also found on Horner’s hoodie, jeans, and underwear. Athena’s fingernail clippings, upon testing, showed presumptive traces of blood, painting a harrowing picture of her final moments.

This case continues to grip and horrify the community, underscoring the need for justice not only for Athena but also for the other victims who have bravely shared their stories.

She shared her findings after the two women told jurors how Horner raped them when they were 16 years old – one year younger than the age of consent in Texas.

The first woman even said she was sexually assaulted by Horner twice in 2013, when he was 22 years old.

Her accusations are now the basis of two sexual assault of a child cases pending in Tarrant County.

The witness testified that Horner had asked her to lie to his grandmother about her age when he took her back to his shed to drink alcohol he had purchased and smoke marijuana.

‘That night when I decided it was time to go to sleep, I laid down and Tanner Horner started grabbing a hold of me, kissing me and proceeded to have sex with me,’ the witness testified.

She said she told him the following day that she did not want to have that kind of a relationship with him, but after another night of smoking and drinking a few months later, she found him sexually assaulting her once again.

In that case, the woman said she fell asleep in Horner’s room and woke up to him grabbing and touching her – before proceeding to have sex with her.

‘I froze,’ the woman testified. ‘I completely froze, shut down, did not know what to do and just let it happen.’

She said she felt gross, violated and hated herself for allowing the sexual assault to occur, and told jurors she feels guilty about not reporting the sexual assaults sooner, saying if she had ‘things may not have happened to other people.’

But under cross examination, the accuser admitted that no one had forced her to be around Horner, and that no one forced her to drink alcohol or use drugs in his presence.

She also said she had intended to spend the night at Horner’s house and admitted she ‘went along with it’ after Horner made the first move, even telling Fort Worth police it was ‘consensual.’

From there, a second woman took the stand to claim that Horner raped her the following year, in 2014, when she was 16 years old.

She said she and Horner would see each other at band practices as well as with mutual friends. Often, alcohol and drugs were involved.

The witness said she never agreed to date Horner or have a sexual relationship with him.

She then said the alleged sexual assault came when she was staying at another friend’s house, where he and Horner shared a bed. But, the witness said she told him she did not want to be touched and only wanted to go to sleep.

When the witness then woke up a short time later, however, she said she found Horner on top of her.

‘I became conscious and came to to Tanner Horner raping me,’ the alleged victim said.

She then went on to say she did not initially recall what had happened, but got some flashbacks the following morning.

She also described a sexual encounter that she said helped jog her memory, and in 2018, she made a public accusation.

When she then found out that Strand’s body had been found dumped in a creek four years later, the witness said she contacted police about her experience with Horner.

‘I felt like I had been put back in 16-year-old me’s body,’ the woman testified.

‘I felt guilt for not coming forward. I felt shame for not speaking up sooner, legally speaking. I felt a lot of pain reliving those memories over and over again.’

The powerful testimonies came just one day after jurors heard a recording from a call Horner made to his mother, in which he said he did not rape Strand because he had a low libido.

‘Tanner, I just hope you didn’t do nothing weird to that little girl,’ his mother could be heard telling him in the recording. He then replied that he didn’t.

‘OK. I didn’t think you did, I just know how you get,’ Horner’s mother said.

‘Well, actually, with my medication, I barely even have a libido as it is,’ the FedEx driver then revealed.

In another phone call played in court on Monday, Horner again denied raping Athena to his grandmother.

‘Are you remorseful, Tanner?’ she asked her grandson.

‘How can I not be?’ he replied. ‘I haven’t been on my medication for the last few weeks and I’m getting emotional.’

The FedEx driver then went on to break down on the call, while talking about how he would not be able to spend Christmas with his young son.

By January 2023, Horner decided to send Strand’s heartbroken family a remorseful letter saying he does not ‘do well with changes or things that are unpredictable’ due to his Asperger’s Syndrome – an autism spectrum disorder whose sufferers may struggle to cope if their usual daily routine is disrupted.

Horner said in the letter he was extremely stressed by not being able to drive the exact same route in his FedEx truck every day, which he blamed for committing the murder.

‘I’m sorry I allowed my mental state to be unstable. I’m sorry I took your little angel away from you. She didn’t deserve it. My son didn’t deserve to lose his father,’ he wrote, as he moaned about the impact his crime would have on his own family.

‘My mother didn’t deserve to lose her son. My fiancé didn’t deserve to have her wedding day stripped away from her. I pray my death eases your suffering,’ he concluded.

Massive 70-Vehicle Pileup on Colorado’s I-70: 8 Hospitalized in Traffic Chaos

0

On a snowy Tuesday in Colorado, a massive traffic incident involving approximately 70 vehicles led to significant disruptions on a key highway. The chaotic scene unfolded on a stretch of Interstate 70, located in Clear Creek County, roughly 50 miles west of Denver. The Colorado State Patrol issued a statement detailing the situation.

Due to the pileup, authorities were compelled to close the eastbound lanes of the highway, causing considerable delays and complications for travelers in the area. The dangerous conditions on the road resulted in injuries, with officials assessing 19 individuals at the site. Of those, eight were transported to the hospital for further medical attention. Disturbingly, one of these individuals suffered serious injuries, underscoring the severity of the incident.

DENVER (AP) — Crashes involving about 70 vehicles snarled a section of a snowy Colorado highway Tuesday and sent eight people to the hospital.

The pileup prompted officials to close the eastbound side of Interstate 70 in Clear Creek County, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) west of Denver, Colorado State Patrol said in a statement.

Officials evaluated 19 people for injuries and took eight of them to the hospital, including one person who had “sustained serious bodily injuries,” according to the state patrol.

Images online show multiple semitrucks involved in the pileup, with debris lining the roadway, fronts of vehicles smashed and at least one vehicle balanced partially off the ground.

It was not immediately clear what caused the pileup.

Drama Unfolds: West Caught Kissing Another Woman with Ciara Present, Amanda Responds

In the latest episode of Summer House, the arrival of Sabrina, who has captured the interest of Ben, sets the stage for an eventful night. Adding to the excitement, West invites a staggering 96 guests to join the festivities. The evening kicks off with a Vegas-themed party, sparking a passionate make-out session that leaves the group buzzing. However, when Amanda decides to teach West a lesson in respect, her actions are seen as hypocritical by some. Meanwhile, Ciara realizes the need to maintain her distance from West and metaphorically puts him “back in jail.” It’s Amanda’s conduct and side remarks, though, that provoke deeper reflection.

Summer House Recap: West Makes Out in Front of Ciara as Amanda Calls Him Out and Apologizes to Ben’s Girlfriend for Awkward Comment, Plus Carl Opens Up to Bailey

Amanda stirs the pot by informing Sabrina that the entire house suspects Ben is falling for her. This revelation doesn’t sit well with Ben, who is trying to dismiss the gossip. Amanda is puzzled by Ben’s serious demeanor, given his status as “so f*cking single all summer.” She challenges Ben’s reaction, feeling affronted by his indignant response.

The situation grows more complex as Amanda recalls that Ben allegedly made advances towards her during a wedding in Italy, a topic that has even fueled a group chat. Amanda admits to enjoying the attention but acknowledges the awkwardness it creates. She expresses a desire to discuss this with Sabrina face-to-face when she visits the house, as Amanda feels uncomfortable with the current state of affairs.

Amidst the drama, Kyle finds a silver lining in his personal life. With Amanda agreeing to attend couple’s therapy, Kyle feels hopeful about their marriage. His current focus is on enjoying the remaining weekends of summer to the fullest.

Kyle is starting to feel more optimistic about his marriage because Amanda finally agreed to couple’s therapy.  Kyle just wants to focus on the last two weekends of summer and have fun.

As some of the crew preps for a night out, a condom falls out of Jesse‘s pants, because ya never know. On the flip side, Ben has decided to stay home and behave.  Sabrina is coming the next day and although it has been about six years since he has been in a relationship, she is really getting Ben thinking about it again.

Post bar-hopping, West and Ciara are making nachos, but Jesse calls him out in his confessional claiming West will be looking like Kyle when he finally settles down.

The next morning, Mia shares she had a bad dream that her parents were still alive and it just felt so real to her.  Right now, Mia is struggling.  She is feeling alone because her boyfriend is traveling more and so she is desperately looking for someone to give her some guidance.

Jesse fills West in on Sabrina. Jesse is amazed that this “rekindling” is moving so fast. This is interesting coming from the guy who fell hard and fast for Lexi in under a minute last summer.

Later, Jesse shares that they will be having a Vegas-style pool party in the backyard. As the boys set up, Bailey chats with Amanda about Carl.  Bailey feels like she is gravitating towards him and Amanda can see this duo working.

Sabrina finally arrives in the Hamptons. We learn that Sabrina and Ciara have had a coffee date because they vibed right off the bat, which is unusual for Ciara. Ciara refers to Sabrina as “adorable” and you can totally tell Amanda is mad about this new friendship.

Before another minute goes by, Amanda brings Sabrina inside and apologizes for the comment she made. Amanda claims “it was not my information to share,” which is a weird thing to say. Sabrina brushes it off and makes Amanda promise that they will have fun at the party today.

Carl opens up to Bailey about the current situation with Kyle.  He is struggling to tell Kyle how he really feels and realizes that if he drank a bottle of rose and did a line of cocaine, the words would come out easier, but that’s not gonna happen.  Carl claims that Kyle can be intimidating and he owes Kyle a lot, but not telling him the truth about his feelings is making their friendship difficult.

While doing her makeup with Ciara and Mia, Amanda states that she feels like everyone hates her.  She goes on to say she doesn’t like that she made someone feel a type of way because of her words and actions.  I am cringing and realizing that Amanda is forever fishing for compliments. Ciara tells Amanda that she doesn’t realize her magic and that half the things Kyle has is because of her. They rally around Amanda, remind her how special she is, and Ciara tells Amanda that she is stuck with her as a friend.  Ooph.

West has invited 96 people to the house and one of them is “hot.” Everyone is making fun of Ben and Sabrina’s rekindling and so the first Vegas-style sign that comes out says, “Ben’s last ride.” As the boys float around in the pool (minus Carl), Kyle talks about how his friendship with Carl has changed.

The one West has had his eyes on plops down on his lap…right next to Ciara. This makes him sweat a bit. So much for all of West’s regrets with Ciara- making out in front of her is not the move. Ciara realizes that West doesn’t owe her anything, but she would NEVER smooch someone in front of him.

Amanda attempts to stop the making out between West and his lady friend and so she plops herself down to try and crash the party.  As she walks away, Amanda tells West to look at her butt, which is bizarre. Sabrina tries to also break up the make-out and gets West away from the girl under the guise that Ben has something to talk to him about.

West passes out, but when he comes to, Amanda reminds West that he got too comfortable “on probation” when he made out in front of Ciara. West points out that he has yet to have a conversation with Ciara over the summer, but feels like he “cheated on his wife” by the way they are coming at him.

Kyle doesn’t think it’s fair how hard and fast Amanda is going after West, but Amanda immediately flips outs on Kyle. Kyle tries to tell Amanda that she’s being unreasonable, but she tells West that he ruined the level of respect in the house. (What a hypocrite now knowing what we know!!)  After Amanda storms off, West shares that he has avoided hurting Ciara for a while now. West also says that Ciara is not actively flirting with him, so what is he supposed to do?

It is uncomfortable and abnormal for Ciara to be in the presence of an ex like this.  It is hard for her because she realizes that West does not see her, literally or figuratively.  She refuses to beg for his attention so that he can notice her, and so for that reason, and many more, West is back in jail.

Tom Steyer’s Bold ICE Proposal Raises Eyebrows, Even Surpassing Newsom’s Reactions

0

The race for Governor of California has taken an unexpected turn with the sudden exit of prominent candidate, Eric Swalwell, the former Representative of California’s 14th District. The surprise departure has opened the door for Tom Steyer, a billionaire and former hedge fund manager who previously ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020. Despite admitting he hasn’t been closely following the state’s political developments, Steyer is seizing the opportunity to run.

RELATED: Watch: Billionaire CA Gov Candidate Tom Steyer’s Puzzling Answer About Gavin Newsom’s Job Performance

BREAKING: Eric Swalwell’s Resignation Is Official, Effective Immediately – Here’s What’s Next

In the wake of Swalwell’s abrupt fall from political grace, Steyer has swiftly climbed to the top of early opinion polls. Capitalizing on the momentum, he released statements on Substack and X earlier this week, revealing a platform that is more radical than many had anticipated.

Steyer not only opposes cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a common stance among many politicians in blue states, but he also advocates for the imprisonment of ICE agents and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) personnel.

He doesn’t just want to refuse to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as so many blue state politicians do because they love illegal immigrants — he wants to jail agents and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) personnel.

It’s like he’s openly calling for an insurrection. You don’t have to believe me, he’ll tell you himself in his article titled:

How California Can Put ICE in Jail

Fox News’ Bill Melugin posted about some of the incredible details:

Steyer apparently wants to see California officers arresting and jailing federal law enforcement. Assuming Trump would still be in office when this went down, there is no chance in Hades that he would stand for that, and things could go south fast.

Melugin’s post continues:

– Give CA AG power to imprison ICE agents & their leadership.

– Taxpayer funded legal representation & support for illegal aliens.

– Ignore a SCOTUS ruling that allows ICE to utilize to use race, language, job, and location to contribute to “reasonable suspicion” for immigration arrests, and instead, “California should take matters into our own hands and extend legal protections to its residents, despite the federal governments failure.”

“This is about our right as a state to protect our residents,” Steyer says.

I read the rest of Steyer’s statement so you don’t have to. To me, it sounds like an open call to violence against the federal government, an exhortation to “take to the streets,” to ignore SCOTUS, and to start what would amount to a civil war:

I’ve made it clear: ICE must be abolished. ICE is acting like a criminal organization, carrying out indiscriminate racial profiling and using violence, intimidation, terrorism, and the murder of Americans to extend Trump’s rule by fear.

It’s not enough for Democrats to simply engage in rhetoric, and “stand” against ICE or Trump. California must build a system that fights fire with fire. To stop this authoritarian takeover, we must counter ICE head-on, and go after both their agents on the streets and their leadership within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Is California going to “go after” our constitutionally provided for federal government and use Golden State taxpayers’ money to engage in hostilities with lawful agencies enforcing rules enacted by our democratically elected congressmen? What world are we living in?

We’ve seen a lot of crazy rhetoric from the likes of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08), and their ilk, but this seems to me to be taking things to a new — and very dangerous — level.

Steyer goes on to list a series of anti-ICE measures he would enact, including bringing deportees back, if you can believe that. They’re all in a similarly incendiary vein, but his conclusion should give you the shudders.

We’ll let ICE know: in California, you obey our laws and respect our residents, or you go to jail.

I’ve always considered Steyer somewhat of a bore, but my opinion has changed — now, he comes across as some sort of Antifa maniac.

Editor’s Note: Democrats are fanning the flames and raising the rhetoric by comparing ICE to the Gestapo, fascists, and secret police.

Netflix Announces May Release Date for Miraculous Ladybug Season 5

0

At last, Netflix is set to expand its library by adding the much-missed series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.

According to reports from What’s on Netflix, the coming weeks will see several Miraculous installments making their debut on the platform. Kicking things off on April 30 is the premiere of the special Miraculous World: Paris, Tales of Shadybug and Claw Noir. However, this isn’t the only release that’s got fans buzzing.

The excitement continues on May 1, when Season 5 of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir becomes available for streaming on Netflix. Despite this addition, avid followers will need to turn to other sources to catch the entirety of the series, as new episodes from Season 6 are expected to roll out throughout the summer.

On May 1, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir Season 5 will finally be available for streaming on Netflix. That being said, fans will still have to look elsewhere if they want to catch up on the full series, as new episodes of Season 6 are slated to continue being released well into the summer.

Netflix still has plenty more Miraculous action for anyone looking to catch up on the franchise ahead of the arrival of Season 5. Apart from episodes of the mainline series, Netflix also offers subscribers access to Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie, which serves as a retelling of the characters’ origin story. In addition, the platform hosts Miraculous World: New York, United Heroez, Miraculous World: Shanghai, The Legend of LadyDragon and A Christmas Special: Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir.

Notably absent from Netflix’s Miraculous offerings is the recently released Miraculous World: Tokyo Stellar Force, which introduced the eponymous team of Zodiac-themed heroes. More importantly, Miraculous World: Tokyo Stellar Force set the team up for their very own series, which is currently slated to premiere some time in 2027.

In September 2025, franchise creator and head writer Thomas Astruc opened up about the state of Miraculous and what the future has in store, stating, “We are moving to a new stage of the series, with a new cycle, a Season 6 in the works, the spin-off Stellar Force ready to start… We are finally arriving at the realization of what I wanted to do from the beginning: a real universe of connected superheroes, like Marvel. 10 years later, that’s it: the serious stuff has finally started!”

Astruc also touched on the long-awaited live-action adaptation, explaining that “The project is still on! But it takes time, [and] the right partners.” Astruc went on to note, “We’re already going to try to complete Stellar Force, which has been close to our hearts for a very long time, and once the series is autonomous, and has the same success as the main series, we hope, we will begin to devote ourselves fully to these new media!”

Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2025, which came with a host of special releases and celebrations. Among the biggest, albeit most expected, announcements was that of the production of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir Season 7, which was planned for a Fall 2026 release.

Meghan and Harry’s Australian Tour: A Strategic Experiment Beyond British Borders

0

In brief

  • The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Australian visit is seen as an experiment for the couple’s commercial activities.
  • Unlike the couple’s 2018 visit, when they spent nine days travelling across Australia, this one is privately funded.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are poised to embark on a tour of Australia that doubles as an intriguing commercial venture. As they step into the second day of their visit, their schedule promises to be as engaging as it is busy.

On Wednesday, Prince Harry and Meghan lined up a series of appearances, kicking off with a meeting with charity representatives at the Western Bulldogs’ headquarters in Melbourne. Meanwhile, Prince Harry was also set to fly to Canberra for engagements at the Australian War Memorial.

In Footscray, at Whitten Oval, Harry took the spotlight as a guest of honor for Movember, a charity focused on men’s health. He participated in a panel discussion with Zac Seidler, the global research director at the Movember Institute of Men’s Health.

During the event, Prince Harry candidly shared his personal experiences, discussing the mental health challenges he faced after becoming a father.

“I definitely felt a level of disconnection,” he admitted. “My wife was the one nurturing life, and I was there as a witness to it all.”

“And I think for many guys, you try to think about, what service can I provide at this point, because my work here is done to some extent.”

Dad to Prince Archie, six, and four-year-old Princess Lilibet, Harry said he saw his role as fostering the next generation, although he steered clear of making any direct references to his own father, King Charles, from whom he is estranged.

“I see parenting evolving over time. I think it always has, just as much as from my perspective, our kids are our upgrade,” he said.

“That’s not how I was taught but that was my take on it.”

After a Q&A session, Harry joined Western Bulldogs players, including Tom Liberatore, Adam Treloar and Matthew Kennedy on the field for a chat and a kick of the footy.

Outside, crowds gathered for a glimpse of the prince, including parents who watched on after dropping their children off at the childcare centre next door.

After the event, Harry flew to Canberra, where he attended the Australian War Memorial to pay tribute to Australia’s military veterans and those killed in action.

Dressed in a dark suit and wearing his service medals, Harry — who served in the British Army and completed two tours of Afghanistan — took part in a brief wreath-laying ceremony before entering the memorial for a private tour of the museum.

The duchess’ plans for the day were not made public, although the pair will be side by side again when Harry jets back to Melbourne later on Wednesday.

It is expected the couple will take the Scar Tree Walk, a cultural journey connecting traditional and contemporary Aboriginal cultures.

The pair will fly to Sydney on Thursday, where Meghan will headline an exclusive three-day women’s retreat pitched as a “girls weekend like no other” with tickets starting at $2,699.

The duke and duchess will end their trip in Sydney where they will sail around the harbour and attend a rugby match.

The four-day visit could be mistaken for an official royal tour with its charitable appearances, hospital visits, and fanfare, although the pair are no longer working royals and are visiting in a private capacity.

The visit is not unusual, according to University of Sydney history professor and monarchy expert Cindy McCreery, who told the Australian Associated Press it was likely for marketing purposes.

“The fact they have chosen Australia as the place to do this activity, it does reflect that way that Australia could add to their brand,” McCreery said.

“We also need to be aware that their options are somewhat limited, they could not do this trip in Britain. That absolutely would not be supported.

“Australia’s an experiment and it will be interesting to see whether this leads to future visits to other countries, with the same kind of combination of charitable and commercial activities.”

The visit marks the couple’s first since 2018, when they spent nine days travelling across Australia.

US Military Executes Targeted Strike, Neutralizes Four Suspected Narco-Terrorists on Drug-Trafficking Vessel in Eastern Pacific

0

The U.S. military confirmed the strike occurred in the Eastern Pacific, resulting in the deaths of four individuals alleged to be involved in narco-terrorism. This action was part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug activities in the region, as stated by the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).

“Under the directive of SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear executed a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel linked to Designated Terrorist Organizations,” SOUTHCOM announced on social media platform X. “Intelligence verified that the vessel was navigating known drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was actively engaged in such operations.”

During the operation, four male individuals identified as narco-terrorists were killed, according to SOUTHCOM’s official statement.

The strike underscores the U.S. military’s commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks in the region, with SOUTHCOM emphasizing the strategic importance of targeting operations along these notorious routes.

No U.S. military forces were harmed, the command added.

SOUTHCOM did not immediately provide additional details about the identities of those killed or the specific groups involved.

Prince Harry Opens Up About the Challenges of Parenthood During Mental Health Discussion

0

During the second day of his and Meghan Markle’s visit to Australia, Prince Harry candidly shared his experiences with fatherhood. While the Duke of Sussex attended a mental health event on Wednesday at the Whitten Oval, home to AFL’s Western Bulldogs in Melbourne, the Duchess was notably absent.

At the event organized by Movember, Prince Harry opened up about the challenges he has faced since becoming a father, especially following the birth of his first child, Archie, in 2019. He acknowledged, “It’s the most important and transformational role a guy can ever move into,” admitting that navigating fatherhood has sometimes been a struggle.

This public engagement came amidst ongoing speculation about the purpose of the Sussexes’ privately-funded tour in Australia. Critics have suggested that the visit might be aimed at furthering their commercial interests. Nonetheless, Prince Harry’s candid reflections on his personal journey captured significant attention, offering a glimpse into the personal side of his life as a father while Archie and Lilibet remained at home in Los Angeles.

Speaking as Archie and Lilibet stayed home in Los Angeles, Harry admitted at times ‘it was a struggle’ after his eldest’s birth in 2019.

‘It’s the most important and transformational role a guy can ever move into,’ he said.

‘The role, gives you purpose. Those days, weeks, after birth are a real struggle. If I was stressed, the moment I held Archie… he would notice it quicker than I could.’

The prince, who stepped back as a working royal alongside his wife in March 2020, also spoke openly about attending therapy.

‘You’re not alone,’ he said in Melbourne. ‘For me, [going to therapy] was a sign of strength, not weakness.

Harry was pictured getting into the Aussie spirit after his speech as he spent 20 minutes kicking a football around with the Western Bulldogs.

A crowd of around 100 AFL fans gathered at the Whitten Oval’s entrance for a glimpse of Harry as he departed, but they were left disappointed as the Duke slipped away through a side gate ahead of a trip to Canberra.

Harry boarded a Qantas business class flight to the city’s capital, where his tour Down Under continued with a visit to the Australian War Memorial.

After being welcomed by Indigenous veterans, the 41-year-old took part in wreath-laying and smoking ceremonies before being escorted inside for a private tour of the museum.

He donned his service medals in the baking sunshine and appeared in good spirts with a crowd of locals shouting ‘G’day Harry’ upon his arrival.

Harry is expected to attend the daily Last Post ceremony at the memorial before delivering a keynote address to the Invictus Australia in Canberra.

There was, however, no sign of Meghan as mystery mounts over her movements with no events listed today on her official itinerary.

After landing on a business class flight from LA on Tuesday morning, the Duchess accompanied the Duke on a visit to Melbourne’s children’s hospital to meet cancer patients.

Later in the day, she went solo as she served frittata at a women’s refuge wearing £1,100 heart earrings, Princess Diana ‘s Cartier watch and a Tiffany gold bracelet before the couple reunited for a family craft session at the National Veterans Arts Museum.

Reports suggest that Meghan could be potentially holding private meetings with potential buyers and partners on Wednesday after her brand As Ever was recently trademarked in Australia.

The trip marks the couple’s first Down Under since they were newly-weds some eight years ago, though the Sussexes are thought to have been left frustrated by the controversy it has caused.

Prior to Harry and Meghan even touching down in Melbourne, their visit sparked backlash from local politicians over publicly-funded police protection.

Meghan and Harry have insisted their trip is privately-funded since they are no longer working royals, but politicians have argued the public should not be paying for their police protection.

The couple have been accused of using Australia ‘like an ATM’ in remarks which have left Harry and Meghan frustrated, a source told the Daily Mail overnight.

‘To be fair, they have tried to make the trip mostly about charitable endeavours and limited costs,’ the source said.

‘Prince Harry has always had an affection for Australia and for a long time felt it was a home away from home, having done his gap year here in his youth.

‘He in particular is known to keep up with his own press and would be taken aback by some strong reactions in the media and comment sections.’

The couple have however appeared relaxed since they arrived on Australian shores, despite some questioning ‘why are they even here?’

Ruptures of applause broke out from a large crowd when they first sighted at the Melbourne children’s hospital, where they spend about 45 minutes talking to children and parents on Tuesday morning.

During the visit, the Sussexes aides assured onlookers that the Harry and Meghan are laid back about how they are addressed, declaring: ‘Harry and Meghan is fine. They’re pretty relaxed.’

Later, the 44-year-old princess insisted crowds ‘call her Meg’ at a women’s refuge where she was pictured serving frittata.

As they arrived, Australia’s first poet laureate for veterans, Steve Cotterill, asked them: ‘How would you like me to address you?’

Harry shrugged with a smile and said: ‘However you like’ before his wife said: ‘Call me Meg?’

The four-day trip will also see Harry and Meghan attend an Invictus Australia event in Sydney before Meghan stars at the ‘Her Best Life’ retreat at nearby Coogee Beach.

Tickets for the weekend cost up to $3,199 AUD (£1,400) and include a chance to have a photo with the Duchess and ask her questions at a gala dinner in a five-star hotel. Meghan’s fee has been described as a ‘fat one’, and is apparently in the region of $250,000.

But, with just two days before Meghan’s speech begins, tickets are still yet to sell out.

A post on Her Best Life’s podcast’s Instagram account announced a ‘final last-minute’ availability of tickets for three solo rooms and two double rooms at the five-star Intercontinental Hotel at Coogee Beach.

The caption read: ‘Guest list now closing – final availability due to movement. See you ladies this weekend!! Can’t wait!’

A leaked itinerary, obtained by the Daily Mail, states that attendees must undergo rigorous security clearance before the ‘inspiring live conversation’ during which the use of phones is strictly prohibited.

The opening section of the itinerary reads: ‘Much like our previous events, and in keeping with our usual policy, this is a strict no phones, no recording moment for the duration of the interview.

‘We promise it’s worth it – this is about being fully present, soaking it all in, and it’s also a non-negotiable security requirement. Phones away, eyes up, and enjoy the magic!’

Guests who purchased a Standard ticket will be given time at the end to ‘capture a photo of Gemma with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, on stage’, according to the itinerary.

However, it’s a different case for ticket-holders who have splashed out £1,700 on the VIP tier and are assured of ‘VIP Group Photos with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’.

The retreat is expected to bring in nearly $1million in ticket revenue, the Daily Mail reported, after the Sussexes were accused of using Australia ‘like an ATM’ on a quasi-royal tour that some insist is all about ‘making money’ and ‘self-promotion’.

Harry is the star speaker at the InterEdge Summit in Melbourne on Thursday, where tickets range from £525 to £1,250 with a ‘virtual ticket’ for Harry’s speech costing costing £260 alone.

The couple insist their 2026 trip is ‘privately-funded’ but there is some disquiet because Australian taxpayers are due to foot the bill for some police security. Tens of thousands of people have signed a petition demanding the Sussexes cover all the costs themselves.

One critic accused them of treating Australia ‘like an ATM’ because the country had been ‘good to them’ when they were working royals.

One parent, who had been passing the children’s hospital in Melbourne on Tuesday, told the Daily Mail she was taken aback after spotting the couple’s arrival.

‘I just came here and was like, “What is going on?” Anything that acknowledges us (patients and parents at the hospital) is a good thing,’ Pina Roberts told the Mail.

‘But I didn’t even know they were coming, so I would wonder why they are actually here.’

Following their visit to Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital, Harry and Meghan changed into matching olive green outfits as they stopped at the Australian National Veterans Art Museum on Tuesday afternoon.

Meghan wore a mock neck sleeveless sweater by Australian brand P Johnson, with a skirt and bomber jacket by fellow Australian brand St Agni and Aquazzura shoes as she was given a tour of the site.

The couple then put on aprons and joined a pottery session with the children of veterans, known as ‘doves’ by the museum, with Meghan crafting a clay ostrich.

She told children at the class: ‘There’s an ostrich farm actually not far from our home.’

Asked a question about birds by a young girl at the class, Meghan replied: ‘My husband will know, my husband knows everything about birds.’

When asked what his clay creation was, Harry replied: ‘It’s a one-winged kookaburra, it’s very rare.’

Harry, wearing an olive green shirt, went over to touch an installation, created by Kat Rae and Kelly Manning last year, which was made of polystyrene, shredded paper and cable ties, that spelt out ‘curiosity’.

Discover the Causes of Foot Pain While Walking and Learn Quick Relief Strategies

0

Walking should be a liberating experience, not a painful one. If each step brings discomfort to your feet, it’s a clear signal from your body that something isn’t right, and it’s essential to pay attention to it.

Foot pain while walking is more common than you might think. Studies indicate that around 75% of individuals will suffer from foot pain at some point in their lives. Discomfort during walking is one of the top reasons people consult podiatrists and physical therapists.

The encouraging part is that most foot pain causes can be effectively treated, especially if they’re identified early and addressed at their source rather than just alleviating symptoms.

Foot Pain When Walking: Causes and Fast Relief Tips

What causes foot pain when walking? — an expert explains

When asked about the primary culprits behind foot pain during walking, Tom Walters, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, a board-certified orthopedic physical therapist and author of the forthcoming book Rehab Science, identifies three main factors: overload, improper mechanics, and lack of support.

Overload occurs when you abruptly increase your walking distance, intensity, or time spent on your feet, not allowing your tissues to gradually adjust. Improper mechanics relate to the movement of your foot, ankle, and leg with each step; misalignment or muscle weakness can place undue stress on sensitive areas. Lack of support involves using worn-out shoes, having flat or collapsed arches, and insufficient cushioning on hard surfaces like concrete.

Common medical explanations include:

  • Plantar fasciitis – irritation of the thick tissue band under the foot that can cause sharp heel or arch pain, often worst in the morning or after long periods of standing.

  • Metatarsalgia – pain in the ball of the foot from high pressure on the forefoot, often from tight or narrow shoes or high‑impact activity.

  • Heel pad atrophy or heel spurs – age‑related thinning of the cushion under the heel or bony growths that can make walking uncomfortable.

  • Tendon problems (Achilles, extensor tendons) – overuse or tight calf muscles can irritate tendons, leading to pain with every step.

Why might you experience pain on top of your foot when walking?

Sharp or burning pain on the top of the foot often puzzles people because it’s not the “expected” heel or arch area.

According to foot specialists, one of the most frequent culprits is extensor tendinitis, an inflammation of the tendons that run along the top of the foot and help lift your toes when you walk. This tends to flare up with tight or poorly fitted shoes, sudden increases in walking, or flat feet, where the tendons have to work harder to stabilize the foot with each step.

Less commonly, top‑of‑foot pain can signal a stress fracture, arthritis in the midfoot joints, or nerve compression. If the discomfort lingers beyond two weeks of rest, worsens without an obvious reason, or becomes severe with one‑sided swelling, it’s worth a visit to a podiatrist or orthopedic clinician for imaging and a precise diagnosis.

What women over 50 should know about foot pain

Women over 50 are particularly vulnerable to certain types of walking‑related foot pain. Factors at play include hormonal changes that affect soft tissues, gradual thinning of fat pads under the heels and balls of the feet, and many years of wearing unsupportive or narrow footwear.

Plantar fasciitis, heel pain, and metatarsalgia all tend to become more common in this age group, especially among women who are on their feet for long periods, have higher body weight, or have a history of wearing high‑heeled or poorly cushioned shoes.

Taking this phase seriously matters because untreated foot pain can change how you walk, leading to knee, hip, or back discomfort over time. Simple preventive steps, supportive footwear, gentle foot and calf stretches, and weight‑bearing strength training can make a noticeable difference in comfort and mobility.

5 practical tips to help with foot pain when walking

You don’t always need fancy gadgets or invasive treatments to find relief. Here are five evidence‑informed, therapist‑recommended strategies you can start today (unless your doctor has advised otherwise):

  1. Choose supportive, properly fitted shoes
Look for cushioning under the heel and ball of the foot, a firm heel counter, and enough room across the toes. Avoid shoes that are too tight, too narrow, or worn out at the sole.

  2. Ice and rest during flares
For sharp or localized pain, 10–15 minutes of ice on the affected area (wrapped in a thin towel) two to three times a day can reduce inflammation and ease discomfort.

  3. Stretch your calves and plantar fascia
Gentle calf stretches against a wall and “plantar fascia stretches” (cross one leg and gently pull the toes back) can relieve tension that aggravates heel and arch pain.

  4. Strengthen your foot and ankle muscles
Exercises such as toe curls, short‑foot strengthening (lifting the arch without curling the toes), and heel raises can improve stability and reduce overload on sensitive structures.

  5. Limit sudden increases in walking load
If you’re starting a new walking routine or returning after a break, increase distance or intensity gradually, about 10% per week, so tissues have time to adapt without becoming irritated.

If pain persists beyond a few weeks, worsens at rest, or is accompanied by numbness, tingling, or significant swelling, it’s time to see a physical therapist, podiatrist, or orthopedic specialist for a tailored plan.

The bottom line on foot pain when walking

Foot pain when walking is not something to ignore “until it gets better”; it is your body’s way of signaling that tissues are overloaded, misaligned, or under‑supported. Common drivers include plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, tendon irritation, and age‑related changes in foot cushioning and joint health.

For many people, simple lifestyle and footwear adjustments, combined with targeted stretching and strengthening, significantly reduce discomfort and improve walking tolerance. However, if pain is one‑sided, severe, or does not improve with self‑care, professional evaluation is essential to rule out more serious issues like stress fractures or nerve problems.

Listening to what your feet are telling you, adjusting shoes, modifying activity, and getting help when needed, can keep you walking comfortably for years to come.

Tragic Incident: 4-Year-Old Accidentally Shoots 2-Year-Old Sibling While Unattended by Parent

A tragic incident unfolded in Wisconsin when a toddler lost his life after his sibling discovered a firearm in their family’s vehicle. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office shared details of this somber event in a Facebook post, revealing that deputies were called to a scene on the morning of April 10. The call reported a shooting involving a young child.

Upon reaching the location, authorities encountered a heartbreaking scene: a 2-year-old boy suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders promptly requested a medical helicopter, but despite their best efforts to administer life-saving aid, the young boy was sadly pronounced dead before he could be transported to a hospital.

According to police reports, three small children, including the 2-year-old victim, were left inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of their home. It was during a brief moment when one parent left the vehicle to retrieve something from the house that the 4-year-old sibling allegedly found a loaded gun in the car’s console.

While police have not officially confirmed the victim’s identity, a GoFundMe page created by a Fond du Lac family identifies the child as Crewe Zahradnik, a 2-year-old who passed away on the same date. A family member, in a heartfelt message on the fundraising page, referred to the incident as a “heartbreaking accident” and an “unimaginable tragedy.” The campaign aims to gather support for funeral costs, grief counseling, and lost wages during this difficult time.

While police did not confirm the identity of the victim in connection with the shooting, a GoFundMe campaign started by a Fond du Lac family identified a 2-year-old boy who died on the same date named Crewe Zahradnik. In the post, a family member described his death following a “heartbreaking accident” and an “unimaginable tragedy.” They are raising money for funeral expenses, grief counseling, and lost wages.

The sheriff’s office stated that the boy was killed after the gun “discharged.” Police added that while an investigation into the alleged shooting was ongoing, they did not suspect foul play and said that the family was cooperating with authorities.

Police said criminal charges could be brought at the close of the investigation.
