In a peculiar incident, a Texas man found himself in hot water after allegedly driving his Tesla Cybertruck into Grapevine Lake to test its “Wade Mode” feature. Unfortunately, the experiment took a wrong turn when the vehicle became immobilized and began to take on water.

The Grapevine Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to Katie’s Woods Park Boat Ramp on Monday following alerts of a partially submerged Cybertruck near the lake’s edge.

According to police, the driver claimed he drove the vehicle into the lake on purpose to activate the Cybertruck’s “Wade Mode.” This Tesla feature is designed to elevate the vehicle’s ride height and pressurize the battery system, potentially allowing the truck to handle shallow waters and uneven terrain.

However, the plan quickly went awry as the Cybertruck became incapacitated in the water, leaving the driver in a tricky situation.

In related news, tragedy struck when college students were involved in a fatal Cybertruck accident just before Thanksgiving.

The driver and passengers safely escaped the vehicle before the Grapevine Fire Department Water Rescue Team helped remove the truck from the lake, according to police. Police said no injuries were reported.

Photos shared by authorities showed the stainless steel pickup partially submerged at the boat ramp as emergency crews worked to recover it from the water.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, was arrested at the scene on charges, including operation of a vehicle in a closed section of a park or lake, along with multiple water safety equipment violations, police said.

A representative for the Grapevine Police Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

“We want to remind drivers that although a vehicle may be physically capable of entering shallow freshwater areas, doing so can create legal and safety concerns under Texas law,” the Grapevine Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Grapevine Lake is a popular recreation area in the Dallas-Fort Worth region known for boating and fishing.

Tesla has heavily marketed the Cybertruck’s rugged off-road capabilities since the vehicle launched in late 2023.

The incident comes as some Cybertruck owners have posted videos online testing the electric pickup’s durability and off-road performance in mud, sand and water crossings.

Tesla says “Wade Mode” is designed for shallow water crossings, but advises drivers to avoid water conditions that exceed the vehicle’s capabilities.

Shohei Ohtani made a triumphant return to playing both as a pitcher and hitter, achieving yet another historic milestone in Major League Baseball with just one pitch.

After sitting out as a hitter during his last three starts on the mound, Ohtani resumed his dual role as both the designated hitter and leadoff batter for the Dodgers on Wednesday night at Petco Park.

Taking the field and the plate simultaneously, Ohtani stepped up to bat to start the game.

In a spectacular display, he launched the very first pitch he saw into the stands for a remarkable home run.

During Game 4 of the previous year’s National League Championship Series, Ohtani had already made history by becoming the first pitcher ever to hit a leadoff home run in an MLB game. This achievement marked the beginning of an unforgettable performance where he also hit three home runs and struck out ten batters.

By doing so again Wednesday, Ohtani recorded the first leadoff homer by a pitcher in regular-season MLB history.

Not that there has ever been much competition for such a distinction, of course. In MLB’s modern era, according to league researcher Sarah Langs, only three other pitchers have ever occupied the leadoff spot in a batting order.

Ohtani, however, is different.

And lately, he has started looking like himself once again at the plate.

While Wednesday’s blast, which came on an elevated fastball from Padres right-hander Randy Vásquez, was only his eighth of the season (far off the 50-plus homer pace he has set the past two seasons), it did mark his 13th hit and seventh extra-base knock in his last seven games offensively.

Before that stretch, Ohtani had been mired in a month-long slump in which he batted only .200.

It was part of the reason the Dodgers had limited him to three-consecutive pitching starts without hitting.

He made sure to make a statement in his return to two-way duties Wednesday.

Trevor Bauer, a former Major League Baseball pitcher, walked away unharmed after his McLaren sports car was caught in a dramatic crash in Arizona on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old has been absent from the MLB since 2021 due to sexual assault allegations, which led to his exclusion from the league’s franchises.

Currently, Bauer is trying to revive his baseball career in the United States with the Long Island Ducks, following his time playing in Japan and Mexico. He recently expressed a willingness to play for free, as teams remain hesitant to sign him.

However, his challenges continue as TMZ released photos and videos of the harrowing crash that occurred this week in Arizona.

Reports indicate that Bauer was fortunate to escape without any injuries and was not responsible for the collision, although images reveal the roadway littered with debris from the accident.

A source close to Bauer reportedly told TMZ that he was driving in the 45mph speed zone when another driver crashed into him, sending him spinning out of control.

In images from the aftermath of the crash, Bauer – wearing a backwards cap – can be seen chatting with police officers at the scene of the incident, and it is understood none of the involved parties needed hospital treatment.

It has been reported that Bauer was in Arizona for medical treatment, though – on the back injury that has currently left him on the Long Island Ducks injury list.

The veteran pitcher has been suffering back spasms during his time in the ‘Atlantic League of Professional Baseball’, but still remains hopeful of sealing another opportunity with a Major League team.

It is not the first time Bauer has suffered a scary incident involving one of his McLaren supercars, after he posted a photo back in 2019 of his smashed up 650S vehicle.

Alongside the photo, he wrote: ‘Yesterday, if you told me a semi truck would total my McLaren, I [wouldn’t] have believed you. If you told me it would happen like THIS? I would’ve said you’re out of your mind. If this isn’t mayhem I don’t know what is.’ 

TMZ reported at the time that his car was parked at the local dealership when a tire flew off a truck, smashed through the window and landed on top of his car.

Back in 2026, Bauer continues his search for a return to Major League Baseball after serving his suspension – initially 324 games but reduced to 194.

He was never criminally charged after a San Diego woman made sexual assault allegations against him, and he has always maintained his innocence.  

Speaking last week, he revealed that no teams in MLB have taken the opportunity to sign him – even though he’s offered to play for free. 

The former Cy Young Award winner had hoped his move back to America with the Long Island Ducks would pave the way to an eventual return but, according to Bauer, that doesn’t seem likely. 

Speaking on OutKick’s ‘Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich’, Bauer explained: ‘I don’t know exactly what goes on behind the scenes. I have my suspicions, of course. 

‘All I know is what the pattern is that we see. I can’t tell you how many different teams we’ve talked to.’ 

He claimed that during his calls to teams, he’s received assurances that they will take the leap and sign him to the roster – before seeing the deals eventually fall through. 

‘Nothing happens for two or three days and we get a call back saying: “Hey, we can’t really talk about this, but sorry, it’s not going to work out”. People can think what they want to think about it but the ultimate reality is, I still, I don’t have a job. 

‘I haven’t been allowed to play baseball in MLB again. I’ve offered to play for free, I’ve offered to go to the minor leagues, I’ve offered to literally donate my entire salary back to the team’s foundations and to play literally for zero dollars.’

Bauer has since played professionally in Japan and Mexico after failing to return to MLB 

Bauer had hoped that his performance for the Long Island Ducks and during his time in both Japan and Mexico might sway MLB teams to take a chance on him. 

The 35-year-old threw a seven-inning no-hitter for the Ducks last month. 

‘It just doesn’t feel like anything that I do is going to be sufficient. No matter how well I pitch or what I say or don’t say or whatever,’ he explained.

Bauer has previously claimed that teams are colluding to keep him out of baseball since multiple allegations of sexual assault came to light – beginning in 2021.

In 2022, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office decided to not file criminal charges against Bauer over allegations made by his first accuser.

After that decision, Bauer and his accuser sued each other. In 2023, they settled both suits without admission of wrongdoing or exchanging money.

Three other women have accused Bauer of sexual assault. One of those women was later charged with defrauding the pitcher.
