BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Moody Police Department is actively investigating an incident involving an attempted break-in and arson at a local Wendy’s restaurant early Monday morning.

Authorities reported that a call came in shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Monday, alerting them to a suspected burglary at the Wendy’s located on Village Drive. Upon arrival, officers observed shattered glass at the main entrance and detected a strong smell of what seemed to be a liquid accelerant inside the premises.

The Moody Police Department released a statement indicating that “two distinct areas within the establishment were targeted in an arson attempt.” With the help of the Moody Fire Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), investigators confirmed that fires had been intentionally set in these areas.

As of Monday evening, no suspects had been apprehended in connection with the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Moody Police Department at 205-640-0347.

Latto, affectionately known as Big Mama, has some exciting news to share.

At the time, she hadn’t confirmed who the father was, but multiple hints implied that it was Savage’s, including one shot that showed his tattooed hand on her bare belly.

Additionally, Latto flipped through a scrapbook that appeared to feature the 33-year-old’s baby photos.

She also displayed a tattoo of her own in the video — a dagger on her lower back matching the one on Savage’s forehead.

Latto also has her rumored partner’s name tatted behind her ear.

Reps for Latto and Savage did not respond to Page Six’s requests for comment at the time.

However, the Grammy nominee did not tag Savage in her Instagram post about her little one on the way.

When she was on the cover of Paper magazine later that same month, cradling her stomach, Savage shared the image to his Instagram Story.

“Big Mama Not the Little 1,” he captioned the social media upload.

Savage is already a father, having welcomed sons Kamari and Ashaad with his rumored wife, Keyanna Joseph.

He also has a daughter named Rhian.

Savage has been romantically linked to Latto since 2020.

The duo, however, has kept their alleged romance out of the spotlight — although Latto did refer to Savage as her “husband” while chatting with TMZ in 2025.

While Savage’s marital status to Joseph remains unclear, she “liked” Latto’s pregnancy post via Instagram in March.

A group of three self-described journalists, who are also ardent supporters of Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, have once again expressed their backing for the accused.

Ashley Rojas, an independent writer on Substack, did not hold back her feelings when she told the Daily News outside Mangione’s evidence suppression hearing in Manhattan, “I’m saying forget Brian Thompson. I couldn’t care less that he died.” Thompson was the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, and Mangione is currently on trial for his murder, which took place in December 2024. Read more here.

Rojas was joined by fellow supporters, Lena Weissbrot and Abril Rios, who are also part of the group claiming allegiance to Mangione, referring to themselves as ‘Mangionistas’.

Weissbrot echoed similar sentiments, adding, “I liked it,” in reference to the incident, and continued with equally provocative remarks.

She went on to say, “His children are better off without him. They should learn not to emulate their father. And enjoy the blood money, kids!”

Rojas and Weissbrot were both seen holding official press credentials awarded by Mayor Zohran Mamadani’s office and the New York Supreme Court.

Rojas then introduced Rios, who used the murder to stress the importance of the Second Amendment.

Weissbrot interrupted: ‘It is to kill tyrants!’

Rios continued: ‘I’m not saying we should all take up arms, but when your democracy has eroded and there are no other options, what are we meant to do?’ 

Weissbrot added that ‘most average Americans support Mangione’ and are ‘fed up with being exploited and treated like cattle’ by health insurance corporations. 

Moments earlier, Judge Gregory Carro ruled a notebook that police found in Mangione’s backpack during his arrest can be introduced at trial.

Prosecutors will also be allowed to present the 9mm ‘ghost gun’ – the alleged murder weapon they say he used to kill Thompson – as evidence. 

Other items recovered during his arrest will not go before the jury, after officers conducted an ‘improper, warrantless search’ of Mangione’s backpack at the Pennsylvania McDonald’s where he was cuffed.

His trial is still slated for October.

On Monday afternoon, authorities in San Diego swiftly responded to reports of an active shooter at the Islamic Center of San Diego.

In a timely update posted on X shortly after 3 p.m. Eastern Time, the San Diego Police Department confirmed that the threat had been successfully neutralized.

Police officers were dispatched to the mosque located on the 7000 block of Eckstrom Avenue, and they advised the public to steer clear of the area as the situation was being managed.

Fox News Digital has contacted law enforcement for further details on the incident.

According to FOX 5 San Diego, a significant presence of police and SWAT teams assembled outside the Islamic Center, with San Diego Fire-Rescue teams also arriving at the scene to provide support.

Children from nearby schools were seen being evacuated as officers established a perimeter around the area, the outlet reported.

Mayor Todd Gloria said on X that he was aware of the situation at the Islamic Center of San Diego.

“I am aware of the active shooter situation at the Islamic Center of San Diego in Clairemont and am continuing to receive updates from law enforcement,” he wrote on X. “Emergency personnel are on scene and actively working to protect the community and secure the area.”

In another post, Gloria wrote, “Please avoid the area and follow instructions from public safety officials. We will share updates as more information becomes available.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press office said the governor has been briefed on the “evolving situation” at the Islamic Center.

“The Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (@Cal_OES) is coordinating with local law enforcement,” Newsom’s team wrote on X. “We are grateful to the first responders on the scene working to protect the community and urge everyone to follow guidance from local authorities.”

The Islamic Center of San Diego describes itself on its website as the largest mosque in San Diego County.

The mosque shares an address with the Lower Campus of Bright Horizon Academy, a private Muslim school serving pre-K through 12th grade students, according to the school’s 2025 annual report.

Bright Horizon Academy reported enrollment of just over 350 students across its campuses. It was not immediately clear which grade levels are housed at the Lower Campus adjacent to the mosque, though the school’s high school operates at a separate location.

In an unsettling turn of events at the San Diego Islamic Center on Monday morning, a harrowing active shooter incident unfolded with schoolchildren present at the scene. This revelation comes from religious leaders who have been providing updates on the situation.

Tragically, the incident resulted in the deaths of two suspected shooters and a mosque member, as confirmed by the center’s leadership. Additionally, several individuals have been hospitalized following the attack.

Imam Taha Hassane, a prominent figure at the center, reassured the community in a video shared with the California Post and circulated widely within California’s Muslim community. “We are safe, the entire school is safe. All the kids, all the staff, and the teachers are safe and out of the Islamic Center,” he affirmed, emphasizing the safety of everyone involved.

He further urged the public to maintain a safe distance from the Islamic Center, stating, “There is no threat at this moment, but we want everyone to stay away from the Islamic Center setting.” The video message aimed to calm fears and prevent any unnecessary gatherings at the site.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations has confirmed the loss of one of the mosque’s members in this senseless act of violence. As the community comes to terms with the tragedy, support and solidarity are being sought from across the nation.

“We strongly condemn this horrifying act of violence at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this attack,” CAIR-San Diego Executive Director Tazheen Nizam said.

“No one should ever fear for their safety while attending prayers or studying at an elementary school. We are working to learn more about this incident and we encourage everyone to keep this community in your prayers.”

CAIR and local community leaders also confirmed that at least one member of the mosque was killed.

Two shooters have been shot dead after an active shooter situation at a San Diego mosque drew a massive police presence, three police sources told NBC on Monday. The threat has since been “neutralized,” according to the San Diego Police Department.

Helicopter footage shows one person in a tactical vest who appears to have been shot dead outside the Islamic Center of San Diego.

Several people are believed to have been shot, Officer Anthony Carrasco told the Associated Press. Hundreds of police officers and scores of emergency vehicles lined up outside the center only minutes after the call came in reporting an active shooter.

“We are closed for the rest of the day. Stay safe, stay at home, and make a lot of prayers,” Hussane added.

“We have a few casualties, including one member of the mosque,” according to the video, although authorities have yet to confirm that information.

There are three schools within close proximity to the mosque: the Islamic School of San Diego, Clairemont Canyons Academy, and Kavod Charter School. A Seventh-day Adventist church and California Children Services are also nearby. The center’s campus includes the Al Rashid School.

An elementary school next to the Islamic Center was also evacuated by police, as were adults still inside the center.

The children were inside the school during the attack.

Police were seen frantically searching the neighborhood and going door to door looking for the shooter, according to KGTV San Diego.

The motives behind the attack are still unknown.

A powerful storm system is set to impact tens of millions across the Midwest, posing serious threats of deadly flash floods and powerful tornadoes expected to touch down on Monday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued severe thunderstorm warnings and flood watches spanning several states: Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Ohio are all under alert.

Meteorologist Max Velocity has reported tornado sightings in Nebraska as early as 3:50 PM ET. The NWS responded by issuing tornado watches for multiple counties in the area. “You need to be taking shelter now,” Velocity urgently advised during a social media livestream on Monday afternoon.

Additionally, forecasters are warning residents in Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakotas, and Oklahoma to brace for extreme weather conditions. Starting Monday night and continuing into Tuesday, these areas could experience large hail, winds exceeding 75 mph, and an increased risk of widespread cyclones.

Extreme weather, including large hail, damaging winds over 75 mph, and the potential for widespread cyclones, has also been forecasted for Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakotas and Oklahoma starting Monday night and lasting through Tuesday.

AccuWeather has warned that major cities will see a high risk of dangerous storm activity Monday night, including Chicago, Des Moines, Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Omaha and Minneapolis.

Hurricane-force winds are expected to damage local homes and businesses and potentially knock out power across the region.

Southern Iowa and Nebraska, northwestern Missouri and central Kansas have been deemed at the highest risk of seeing ‘intense tornadoes’ touch down on Monday.

Millions throughout the Midwest are under threat of extreme weather on Monday and Tuesday, including flash floods, large hail and intense tornadoes

AccuWeather Chief On-Air Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said: ‘There could be at least two dozen tornadoes from Monday afternoon through Monday night, with the potential for 40 to 50.’ 

NWS has already issued tornado warnings in 22 counties across Kansas and six more in Nebraska as of 2pm ET, with each alert in effect until 9pm tonight.

NWS alerts warn that parts of Missouri and Nebraska may see more than four inches of rain fall through Tuesday, causing excessive runoff as the ground will not be able to absorb all of the downpours. 

‘Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,’ the weather service added in an alert.

AccuWeather warned that several inches of rain could begin to fall per hour in areas seeing the most severe thunderstorms this week.

Meteorologists added that these storm systems will likely turn into supercells, a rare and most dangerous form of thunderstorm, capable of producing tornadoes that can topple trees or damage roofs.

Tornadoes are violently rotating columns of air that swirl down to the ground. They can vary in strength and destructiveness, from weak ones that cause minor damage to roofs, all the way up to powerful monsters that can completely destroy well-built homes and flip cars.

They are measured in terms of their wind strength, going from EF0, with moderately damaging winds under 85mph, to the most powerful EF5, which exceeds 200mph and can rip buildings off their foundations.

Dangerous flash flooding is predicted to impact multiple Midwest states on Monday and Tuesday

In 2025, water levels in parts of Kerrville, Texas rapidly rose as runoff from the surrounding hills poured into the Guadalupe River, turning low-lying areas into violent channels of fast-moving water

However, the threat caused by intense flash flooding this week is set to impact even more Americans, with forecasts on Monday showing the storms are expected to inundate Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, the Dakotas, Nebraska and Kansas.

In some cases, flash flooding can begin in as little as three hours. Unlike river floods, which build gradually over time, flash floods are triggered by sudden, intense bursts of rain that overwhelm the ground’s ability to absorb water.

The major storm system has been fueled by warm, moist air from the Gulf of America, clashing with cooler, drier air as it moves north.

Strong wind shear, which is changes in the wind’s speed and direction higher in the atmosphere, is also helping the storms to rotate and organize into powerful supercells.

A sharp boundary called the dryline, where hot dry air from the Southwest meets the warm moist air, acts like a trigger that forces the moist air to rise explosively and sparks the development of these intense thunderstorms. 

This setup is a classic weather pattern seen during severe spring storm seasons in the Plains and Midwest, often referred to as ‘Tornado Alley.’

AccuWeather Meteorologist Peyton Simmers added in a statement: ‘There will be multiple storms that produce golf ball to baseball-sized hail into Monday night.’

Hailstones that big can be incredibly dangerous, especially for drivers. They can dent car roofs and hoods, shatter windshields and also seriously injure people, pets and livestock standing outside.
