Federal agents intensified their investigation into the perplexing disappearance of Lynette Hooker in the Bahamas, as they descended upon her husband Brian Hooker’s yacht on Tuesday.

In a move to uncover new evidence, special agents from the US Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS) were captured in exclusive images by Daily Mail as they meticulously searched the couple’s cluttered sailboat, named Soulmate, for any leads.

With gloves on and sidearms ready, approximately six agents spent several hours thoroughly photographing every detail of the yacht’s deck, cockpit, and cabin. Their careful inspection resulted in the collection of two sizable bags labeled as ‘evidence,’ which they carried ashore.

The search was temporarily halted by a sudden and heavy downpour in Florida, leaving the vessel secured in yellow crime scene tape.

Brian Hooker, now 59, was previously questioned by Bahamian authorities but has not been charged regarding the disappearance of 55-year-old Lynette on April 4. His whereabouts during the yacht search remain unknown.

He abandoned the search for her after 10 days, claiming he had to return to the US to look after his elderly mother.

‘We have no idea where he is,’ Lynette’s frustrated mom Darlene Hamlett told the Daily Mail this week.

Darlene spoke out after Soulmate was dramatically intercepted Saturday after it left Marsh Harbour on the Bahamian island of Great Abaco.

It’s believed that two men were hired to sail it to an unspecified location on Florida’s east coast. 

The boat was taken instead to a secure US Coast Guard compound in Fort Pierce, Florida, so CGIS investigators could finally examine it for evidence.

Lynette’s daughter from an earlier relationship, Karli Aylesworth, revealed the boat’s new status in a heart-rending Mother’s Day message on Facebook on Sunday.

‘The boat has moved, by two men. Neither of them are Brian. Never seen them before,’ said the 29-year-old.

‘And they turned off their GPS. Last it shows them in the middle of the ocean next to the Bahamas up towards Florida or up the east coast. But I think they’re going to Florida.’

The US Coast Guard would not confirm details when contacted by the Daily Mail but said there was a ‘pending investigation’.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force freed Hooker after five days in custody although senior officers insist he is still under investigation.

The American claimed Lynette, his wife of 25 years, was swept off their dinghy in rough seas in the evening of April 4 as they returned to Soulmate after a boozy dinner on the island of Elbow Key.

Soulmate left Marsh Harbour on the island of Great Abaco on Friday, but appears to have been intercepted on its way to the Sunshine State’s east coast the following day 

The kill switch was attached to his wife when she was pitched into the shark-infested waters, according to Brian.

That cut the engine and prevented him from rescuing her, he’s believed to have told cops.

The Hookers, from Onsted, Michigan, were four years into a voyage they were documenting on social media that had started in Texas and drifted to the Bahamas via Florida when tragedy struck.

They left the waterfront Abaco Inn on Elbow Key around 7.30pm in fading light on April 4 to head to Soulmate, anchored about a mile away.

After Lynette went overboard from the 8ft dinghy, Hooker said she was blown away from him in the gusty conditions.

He subsequently took nearly eight hours to paddle the tiny disabled vessel to safety to the neighboring island of Great Abaco, he said.

In an interview with NBC, Hooker denied harming his wife and vowed to keep looking for her.

His lawyer Terrell Butler added: ‘He categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing.’

However, local experts told the Daily Mail they were skeptical of Hooker’s version of events, pointing to what they described as puzzling inconsistencies and possible ‘missing hours.’

Security footage reviewed by the Daily Mail captured Hooker arriving at Marsh Harbour Boat Yard around 3.35am on April 5.

He had reportedly tied up the dinghy in an area known as Calcutta before walking across rocky shoreline and mangroves to reach the yard.

The footage allegedly showed Hooker wandering around in a blue shirt, dark shorts, flip flops and a cowboy-style hat as he called for help.

Several locals who viewed the video said however that he showed a curious lack of urgency or panic.

One experienced mariner told the Daily Mail: ‘That’s a very strange way for someone to behave when they’ve just seen their wife swept away to almost certain death.’

Night security guard Edward Smith said Hooker told him: ‘My wife was thrown out of the boat. We were drinking, we were drunk. I should have known better.’

Smith said Hooker claimed he had tried to paddle back toward Lynette but was blown away by strong winds and darkness.

Smith recalled Hooker appearing ‘more exhausted than emotional,’ adding: ‘He wasn’t crying or anything. There weren’t a lot of emotions.’

Locals also questioned Hooker’s claim that it took nearly eight hours to drift ashore.

One  estimated the dinghy should have covered the distance in closer to two hours given the prevailing winds and currents.

‘I don’t see where eight hours comes from,’ the expert said. ‘To me there are missing hours which need to be explained.’

A Boston city councilor, representing the Democratic party, has criticized the “soft-on-crime” approaches that he believes allowed a man, now accused of a shooting spree in Cambridge, to be released early despite past violent offenses.

The suspect, 46-year-old Tyler Brown, is currently in custody after allegedly discharging 50 to 60 bullets into traffic on Memorial Drive in Cambridge on Monday afternoon. The shocking event, which resulted in injuries to four individuals, including Brown himself, quickly became a viral sensation online.

Brown is being held at the hospital as he recovers from gunshot wounds to his limbs.

Boston Councilman Ed Flynn expressed his frustration to Fox News Digital, stating, “Under no circumstances should this individual have been out on probation or parole. A person with a substantial criminal history, who repeatedly engages in illegal activities, should face a lengthy prison term for consistently flouting societal rules.”

And Brown does have a violent criminal history.

In 2014, he was convicted of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon — in that case a knife — and witness intimidation.

In 2020, while on probation for the previous crimes, he engaged in a shootout with four Boston police officers, firing 13 rounds from a .40 Glock semiautomatic handgun at the officers when they responded to a report about a man with a gun.

In 2021, he pleaded guilty to eight charges stemming from that incident. Those charges included:

• Armed assault with intent to murder
• Attempted assault and battery by means of discharging a firearm
• Three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon for pointing a firearm
• Unlawful possession of a firearm
• Carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a large capacity feeding device.

Flynn, who was first elected to the city council in 2017 and once worked for the Clinton administration, said he knows one of the four Boston police officers involved in that incident, and that they went to school together.

An officer wrote a victim-impact statement at the time, saying that, “I am a firm believer that when Mr. Tyler Brown gets out, he will hurt, or worse, kill someone,” according to NBC Boston.

“We have to think of the victims and the survivors of violent crime before we sentence someone to prison, probation [or] parole,” said Flynn. “And when a victim testifies about the violence used and the likelihood that this person will re-offend and engage in criminal activity, we have to hear that testimony, respect that testimony and implement a sentence that respects the victim and the survivor of crime.”

“I don’t think we did that in this case. In fact, I know we didn’t do that in this case, but this is not an isolated case,” he continued.

Brown was sentenced to five to six years in prison and three years of probation, stemming from the 2020 crime, a controversial move at the time that was criticized by then-Suffolk County District Attorney Rachel Rollins.

Rollins blasted the sentence handed down by then-Suffolk Superior Court Judge Janet Sanders for not abiding by her recommendation of 10 to 12 years with five years of probation.

“When an individual commits serious, violent offenses that threaten the lives of our community members – which include members of law enforcement – I will advocate for the​ir removal and detention​. My office recommended a significant sentence for Mr. Brown given the nature of his offenses and the ​trauma and harm he inflicted,” Rollins said in a statement at the time.

She said she was “disappointed in the sentence that was imposed,” and personally apologized to the officers who were attacked and to their families.

Flynn told Fox News Digital that police officers are frustrated with relaxed crime policies that let offenders walk free.

“Police feel frustrated that the criminal justice system does not respect them and survivors of crime. Police want accountability, and they want the criminal justice system to work, and for the criminal system to work, we have to hold people accountable for their actions,” said Flynn. “It might be politically incorrect to do that. But we have to provide a safe and healthy environment for residents of the city, for our police, for our neighborhood, and for our neighbors.”

He said ignoring violent crime is not a solution and that Bostonians want criminals to be punished.

“Boston is changing, and I think the residents are fed up, and they want us to be more aggressive in holding people accountable,” he said. “They want the criminal justice system to work for survivors of crime, for victims of crime and for society at large. Right now, there is a perception that it works for criminals.”

He also noted that he represents one of the most progressive districts in the city, but specifically called out that wing of the Democratic Party.

“The progressive base of the Democratic party is soft on crime and doesn’t want to hold people accountable for their actions, and I think that’s a mistake for the Democratic Party to ignore ongoing criminal activity in neighborhoods, because it creates destabilization of residents of neighborhoods and it contributes to a declining quality of life of residents in an unhealthy neighborhood,” he said.

“Residents deserve better than that,” he concluded.

A criminal complaint against Brown says he spoke to his parole officer on the phone on Monday morning and said he had relapsed on crack cocaine, and that he was ready to end his own life. His parole officer alerted the police at around 12:10 p.m., shortly before the shooting, and drove to Brown’s residence.

Brown was not home, but called his parole officer on a different phone via FaceTime. He was waving a semiautomatic rifle, according to the complaint, and said, “these people are going to f—ing pay,” and, “I’m not going back to prison.”

At around 1:30 p.m., Brown is accused of opening fire on Memorial Drive, shooting “erratically” and hitting two people in a vehicle, critically injuring both.

A state trooper arrived on scene and engaged Brown in a firefight. A witness to the event, a U.S. Marine and firearms instructor, also opened fire on Brown.

Brown had been released from a mental health facility on May 8.

He faces two counts of armed assault with intent to murder using a firearm and two counts of attempted assault and battery by discharge of a firearm, along with a litany of related gun charges.
