CLEVELAND — Donovan Mitchell delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 39 points in the second half to tie an NBA playoff record, which propelled the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 112-103 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Monday night. This win leveled their second-round series.

Mitchell equaled Eric “Sleepy” Floyd’s record with a free throw at 27.6 seconds left in the game. Floyd originally set the record in 1987 against the Los Angeles Lakers. Mitchell had an opportunity to surpass the record but missed his subsequent free throw.

Ending the night with 43 points, Mitchell was instrumental during Cleveland’s impressive 24-0 run, contributing 15 of those points. This surge spanned from the final 12 seconds of the first half to the initial six minutes of the third quarter. The Cavaliers had been trailing 56-52 at halftime before seizing the momentum.

During this run, the Cavaliers were highly efficient, hitting 10 out of 12 shots, including three from beyond the arc. Their defense also capitalized on the Pistons’ mistakes, converting five turnovers into nine points.

The 24-point streak was the longest seen in an NBA playoff game since Minnesota’s similar feat in Game 6 of its Western Conference semifinal against Denver in 2024. For Cleveland, this was the longest playoff run recorded since the introduction of play-by-play statistics in the 1997-98 season, surpassing their previous high of 19 points achieved against Boston in an Eastern semifinal game.

James Harden had his 40th playoff double-double with 24 points and 11 assists. Evan Mobley had 17 points, five blocked shots and three steals as Cleveland remained unbeaten at home in six playoff games.

Caris LeVert had a season high 24 points for Detroit. Cade Cunningham scored 19, the first time he has been held under 20 in 11 playoff games this season, and Tobias Harris added 16.

Game 5 is Wednesday night in Detroit.

Harden scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, as the Cavaliers jumped out to a 16-5 lead five minutes into the game. The Pistons countered with a 23-5 run that included 10 points by LeVert. Detroit was 9 of 13 from the field during the eight-minute spurt while Cleveland was 2 of 14 and missed all eight 3-point attempts.

Cleveland’s largest lead was 21 points in the fourth quarter.

The tragic loss of a popular TikToker has sparked a legal battle, as her husband claims that negligence from medical staff led to a fatal overdose of pain medication following her cosmetic surgery. The lawsuit, brought forward by Rachel Tussey’s husband, alleges that inadequate care at a Cincinnati surgery center resulted in her untimely death.

Rachel Tussey, a mother of three and a vibrant presence on TikTok with over 80,000 followers, was eagerly anticipating her “mommy makeover” surgery. She was set to undergo this transformative procedure at JourneyLite Surgery Center on February 25, and she shared her journey with her social media audience.

Before her surgery, Tussey actively documented her experience, even posting a video from her hospital bed just before she was taken into the operating room for the nine-hour procedure. In the video, she expressed her emotions, saying, “I feel a big range of emotions, but mostly it is absolute excitement and gratitude.” She emphasized the support she felt, mentioning, “My husband’s here. I’ve got a great support team, and I’m really looking forward to this next chapter.”

Her optimism was palpable as she asked for prayers, confident in the care she believed she was receiving. “I know it’s gonna be great, and I’ve waited a really long time for this. I’m in good hands. I know God’s got my back,” she reassured her followers in the heartfelt post.

However, according to a lawsuit filed last week by Rachel’s husband, Jeremy Tussey, it turned out that his wife was not truly in good hands. 

The lawsuit states that one of the nurses in JourneyLite’s recovery room caused Rachel to overdose on opioids by administering 150 micrograms of fentanyl and half a milligram of Dilaudid within 30 minutes of her surgery.

That dosage was well above what the mother received during her nine-hour surgery, over the course of which she was administered 100 micrograms of fentanyl and another half milligram of Dilaudid, according to the lawsuit.

Rachel’s overdose caused her to lose oxygen flow to her brain for more than six minutes, and nurses failed to act urgently and respond properly during that crucial timeframe, the lawsuit alleges. 

The lawsuit further stated that after the nurses finally called 911 about nine minutes after she became unresponsive, Rachel was transported to Bethesda North Hospital, where staff determined she was brain dead.

She remained on a ventilator until March 7, when she was transferred to hospice care. She died in hospice on March 17.

Bethesda North Hospital determined that Rachel’s cause of death was an anoxic brain injury and acute respiratory failure caused by an overdose.

The hospital’s staff also ruled out any other potential cause of death, such as complications from the surgery, according to the lawsuit.

About a month before Jeremy filed his lawsuit, Rachel’s surgeon, Dr Shahryar Tork, also filed a lawsuit accusing JourneyLite and its staff of negligence and causing his patient’s death. 

‘Rachel’s death was completely unnecessary and caused by a JourneyLite nurse recklessly overdosing Rachel on narcotics, and by a JourneyLite anesthesiologist abandoning their patient,’ the surgeon told WCPO.

‘This was not a tummy tuck complication; she would be home, I would see her smiling in my office, if other people had done their job right,’ Tork added.

‘[Rachel’s] low pain medication dosage needs reflected Mrs. Tussey’s low opioid tolerance level,’ the surgeon’s lawsuit stated. 

In a video posted from Bethesda North Hospital while Rachel was still hooked up to a ventilator, her husband similarly said, ‘She was administered too much medicine. 

‘Point five Dilaudid, on top of 150 fentanyl, is way too much for somebody that is so minute, that is so sensitive to drugs,’ he said.

JourneyLite, Associated Anesthesiologists of Springfield, facility administrators and nurses listed as Jane Does were all named as defendants in Jeremy’s lawsuit. 

The civil complaint accused JourneyLite of being responsible for Rachel’s death through ‘systemic failures’ and ‘regulatory violations.’ 

Tork, the surgeon, was not named as a defendant in Jeremy’s lawsuit.

The complaint also accused the surgery center of attempting to alter its records after Rachel died by changing medication doses and administration times, and it cited an email about ‘purging files’ sent by a JourneyLite employee on the day Rachel died. 

Facility administrators even asked Tork to alter his operative notes twice, which he refused to do on both occasions, according to the lawsuit.

In all, the lawsuit accused the defendants of medical negligence, negligent hiring and retention, spoliation of evidence, negligent infliction of emotional distress and loss of consortium.

Jeremy is seeking compensation exceeding $25,000 per claim, as well as punitive damages and attorney fees. The lawsuit demanded a trial by jury. 

JourneyLite denied all of the accusations laid out in the lawsuit in a statement to the Daily Mail. 

In a GoFundMe set up to help Jeremy pay for medical expenses, Rachel was described as ‘an example of what community and compassion should look like.’ 

‘She dedicated countless hours helping others, including organizing donation efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, collecting supplies and personally delivering essential items to those in need,’ it says on the fundraising page.

‘When someone needed help, Rachel was always the first person to step forward.’

A small liberal arts institution in Pennsylvania is removing a professor’s name from one of its campus buildings after it was discovered he had unearthed a Native American burial ground and supported ideas of racial superiority.

Swarthmore College, situated near Philadelphia, has stripped Spencer Trotter’s name from the edifice once known as Trotter Hall. The building will temporarily be referred to as “Old Science Hall” as the college decides on a permanent new name. Additionally, Trotter’s name has been removed from the adjacent lawn area.

This decision comes after a thorough investigation lasting over two years, conducted by the college. The inquiry began following a 2022 report that brought to light the excavation of a Lenape burial site, which was subsequently returned to Native American ownership, as detailed by the school’s student publication, The Phoenix.

According to The Phoenix, a task force led by faculty and comprising students, faculty, and staff has been diligently reviewing historical records, engaging the campus community for feedback, and narrowing down potential new names. Their final recommendation is expected to reach the college president by May 1, 2026, before it is submitted for approval to the Board of Managers.

The building has carried Trotter’s name since 1937, but a college review, detailed in a campus communication from President Val Smith, found the longtime biology professor excavated a Lenape burial site in 1899, removing human remains and displaying them on campus, actions the college now says were unethical.

The college has said it has been unable to determine what ultimately happened to the remains Trotter displayed, according to The Phoenix.

In a prior letter to the campus community, Smith apologized for the history, stating the remains “should never have been removed from their burial site” and calling the actions “inexcusable,” even if such practices were more common at the time.

But the decision has also sparked questions about whether such moves amount to rewriting history.

At a recent town hall, that concern was raised directly, The Phoenix reported, with some alumni and community members questioning whether removing Trotter’s name constitutes revisionism.

Some alumni have criticized the move as “revisionist,” arguing it risks undermining the college’s commitment to historical inquiry, according to The Phoenix.

Critics of the renaming say keeping Trotter’s name could allow the college to confront its history rather than remove visible reminders of it. Supporters say the change acknowledges harm caused by the excavation and display of Native American remains.

Task force member and history professor Bob Weinberg pushed back, saying reassessing historical figures is part of the academic process.

“You don’t want to erase the past, but you want to acknowledge it… and explain why it’s important that we are changing this,” he said, according to the student newspaper.

The task force has worked to identify a replacement name aligned with the college’s current priorities, including increasing diversity and choosing someone with direct ties to the institution.

“It turns out individuals are really complicated,” task force chair Cat Norris told The Phoenix, noting the difficulty of vetting potential names.

Trotter, who taught for more than 30 years around the turn of the 20th century, has also drawn criticism for writings described as “scientific racism,” including claims that Native Americans underutilized land later farmed by Europeans.

Proposals to name the building after the Lenape people were considered but ultimately rejected over concerns they could be seen as performative without additional action, according to The Phoenix.

The college has also launched a broader review of its collections and handling of human remains, including new ethical standards for acquisition and repatriation, The Phoenix reported.

A final decision on the building’s new name is expected later this year.

“7 years later…happy birthday to our sweet boy 🤍” the “Suits” alum, 44, captioned a photo of Harry cradling Archie as a newborn.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed Archie in May 2019.

During the infant’s debut, the new mom dubbed motherhood “magic” and “pretty amazing.”

Princess Lilibet, now 4, joined the family in June 2021.

By that time, Harry, 41, and Markle had resigned from their royal roles and moved to a Montecito, California, mansion — only a couple hours’ drive from Anaheim, California, where Disneyland is located.
