The Justice Department under former President Donald Trump has taken a significant legal step by indicting James Comey, the former FBI Director. The indictment accuses Comey of making threats against Trump’s life through a post on Instagram, leading to a grand jury issuing an arrest warrant for him.

According to the Justice Department, Comey is alleged to have “knowingly and willfully” threatened the President’s life, using social media as his medium. This accusation is tied to a specific post made by Comey in May, which displayed seashells spelling out “8647”—a sequence interpreted by Trump critics as a coded message, which the President and his supporters believe suggests a threat against him.

“You cannot threaten to kill the President of the United States. Full stop,” stated Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche during a press conference, underscoring the gravity of the allegations.

The arrest warrant was issued by a grand jury seated in the Eastern District of North Carolina. However, it remains uncertain whether the Department of Justice specifically requested this warrant in conjunction with the initial indictment.

Secret Service agents conducted an hours-long interview with Comey soon afterward. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard at the time said he should be ‘put behind bars for this’ and that she was ‘concerned’ Trump’s life was in danger.

Comey was indicted by a federal grand jury in Virginia last fall on two counts: making a false statement to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding, related to his 2020 Senate Judiciary Committee testimony.

A federal judge dismissed the indictment in November, ruling that the prosecutor who brought the case, Lindsey Halligan, had been unlawfully appointed.

Blanche’s push to indict him comes a month after Trump fired his predecessor, Pam Bondi, for failing to pursue his perceived enemies aggressively enough.

Trump accidentally posted a message on Truth Social in September pressuring Bondi to prosecute his political enemies, including Comey. 

The President’s message to Bondi came just days before the initial Comey indictment.

The Justice Department initially dropped the seashells investigation into Comey under Bondi but it was revived in recent months, according to the New York Times.

Blanche, who served as Trump’s personal attorney before joining the administration, appears to have led efforts to revive the targeting of Trump’s political enemies.

He is widely considered a frontrunner to become the President’s official nominee for attorney general.

Comey is not the only Trump adversary to face the wrath of the Justice Department in the last year.

New York Attorney General Letitia James was indicted on bank fraud charges last October but a federal judge dismissed the case.

James led the civil fraud against Trump that resulted in a $454 million judgment against him in February 2024. However, the New York state appeals court later overturned the penalty.

The Daily Mail has contacted Comey for comment. His legal team has not issued a public statement on the indictment. 

The indictment comes just days after alleged gunman Cole Tomas Allen stormed the Washington Correspondents’ Dinner in what prosecutors say was a plot to assassinate the President and his top Cabinet members.

The tragic loss of a beloved New Jersey social media influencer has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a joyous celebration. Ashly Robinson, known to her followers as Ashlee Jenae, died in an apparent suicide while vacationing in Zanzibar, off the coast of Africa. Her untimely death occurred shortly after she became engaged to her longtime partner, Joe McCann, during a trip meant to commemorate her 31st birthday.

In a heart-wrenching development, Robinson’s body was returned to her family in New Jersey last Friday. However, her personal belongings, including her engagement ring, were not sent back with her remains, according to her father, Harry Robinson, as he shared with TMZ.

With a following of 145,000 on Instagram, Ashlee Jenae had made a name for herself as a lifestyle influencer, captivating her audience with her engaging content. Her vibrant presence on social media will be missed by many, leaving a void in the hearts of those who followed her journey.

Robinson was discovered hanging from a door inside her hotel room and was subsequently transported to a hospital, where she died one day later. 

Her death was ruled a suicide by authorities. 

Tanzania Police previously revealed Robinson’s death was “attributed to a misunderstanding” between the influencer and McCann, while adding that the incident forced hotel staff to separate the newly engaged couple by placing McCann in another room “for their safety.”

Following Robinson’s death, Tanzania Police at the time revealed McCann “continues to be questioned by the Police Force and his passport has been suspended,” though authorities did not elaborate on the nature of the investigation.

Sources have since told the BBC that McCann was being interviewed as a witness in the case and is not accused of any wrongdoing.

Details regarding whether McCann has since returned to the United States remain unclear, and local authorities did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment regarding the status of his passport.

In the immediate aftermath of Robinson’s death, her family spoke out to dispute authorities’ ruling that the 31-year-old influencer died by suicide. 

In a previous interview with TMZ, Robinson’s parents, Harry and Yolanda Robinson, rejected authorities’ ruling that their daughter would take her own life, adding, “She was a beacon of light. A happy, go-lucky girl. Very excited to go on this birthday trip which later turned into a proposal.”

Her family also reportedly told the outlet at the time that McCann contacted them 11 hours after Robinson was transported to the hospital, and only reached out again to inform them she had passed. 

Robinson’s parents told TMZ they have not heard from McCann since she died, a development that they find “very very odd,” FOX 29 reported.

“The sadness, the unanswered questions, and the distance from home have made this tragedy even more overwhelming for our family,” Robinson’s parents said in a statement shared to social media. 

“At this time, there is an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ashly’s suspicious passing,” they added.

Robinson, a popular social media influencer, had 145,000 followers on Instagram and regularly posted lifestyle content. She frequently shared photos with McCann, including one of her final posts showing her feeding giraffes while on vacation in Zanzibar.

Fox News Digital reached out to McCann, Zanzibar Police and the U.S. Embassy. It was not immediately clear whether McCann had retained an attorney. 

NBA free agent Ben Simmons is giving it another shot at selling his luxurious New York apartment, now listing the condo at a lowered price of $14.99 million.

Originally hailing from Australia, the 29-year-old Simmons first put his chic Dumbo residence up for sale at $16.99 million back in March 2025. This move came nearly a month after his departure from the Brooklyn Nets.

After a brief stint with the Los Angeles Clippers, Simmons entered free agency at the close of the 2025 season. Now, it appears he is keen on cutting his last ties with New York, re-offering his five-bedroom condo at a new, more attractive price point.

Simmons acquired the property for $14 million in 2023, following his trade from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Nets. He combined two adjoining units to create a sprawling 5,261-square-foot retreat, now listed with Carl Gambino and Marta Maletz of The Gambino Group at Compass.

Situated in the prestigious Olympia Dumbo high-rise, near the Brooklyn Bridge and mere moments from the riverfront, the condo boasts a design by the acclaimed firm Widell + Boschetti. Co-founder Barette Widell described the space as having an “understated” yet “timeless” elegance.

“Given that we’ve worked with this client several times, the overall design direction was an elevated, more sophisticated approach something that feels comfortable, understated, and ultimately timeless,” Widell explained in an email to Realtor.com®.

“The goal was to create a true sanctuary: a place where he could unwind and recharge, balanced with areas designed for entertaining and gathering with friends.

“This project is a reflection of thoughtful balance elevated yet approachable, tailored yet timeless creating a home that feels both personal and effortlessly livable.”

Widell noted that, when it came to Simmons’ priorities in the condo, the primary suite was his main focus, revealing that the basketball star wanted the room to feel “like a retreat” where he could get away from it all — while the main living spaces needed to provide a place where he felt comfortable spending time with his pals.

“The client prioritized comfort and functionality above all else,” she shared. “He wanted his primary suite to feel like a retreat, while also having a dedicated space where friends could relax, play pool, and enjoy a more social, energetic environment.”

To that end, listing photos show that there is a stark difference between the aesthetic of the main spaces — which boast walls of windows to amplify the beautiful city views and also open up to a private terrace space.

The main communal area, while features a living room, modern kitchen, and a dining space, boasts an open-plan layout that makes each space feel incredibly expansive — a feeling that is further emphasized by the beautiful natural light that flows in from every angle.

However, for more intimate gatherings, there are several other spaces: a cozy gaming room that features jaw-dropping views of the Manhattan Bridge, an entertainment room with a huge sectional couch and a pool table, and a movie theater with two enormous daybeds for extra comfort.

One of the key aspects of the design process, Widell explained, was ensuring that the decor in the apartment enhanced, rather than competed with, those spectacular vistas.

“One of the key considerations in this project was layering the interiors without competing with the incredible New York City views,” Widell explained. “We were very intentional about enhancing the space while allowing the surroundings to remain a focal point.”

Blackout curtains have been added to the windows in several of these spaces — as well as in the bedrooms — to turn them into private retreats, enabling Simmons and his friends to shut out the world whenever they felt the need for true relaxation.

“We incorporated Venetian plaster walls, specialty wall coverings, and custom drapery to add depth and texture,” Widell went on. “Custom furnishings were designed specifically for the space to ensure both comfort and functionality, aligning with the client’s lifestyle while maintaining a refined aesthetic.”

The primary “retreat” features a very moody, dark aesthetic and comes complete with its own private terrace, an enormous ensuite bathroom — with giant soaking tub — and an expansive walk-in closet that listing photos show has been emptied of all of Simmons’ clothing.

In total, the enormous apartment features seven bathrooms — five full and two half.

Among the more unique design elements in the space are some custom acrylic shelves that display Simmons’ impressive collection of Bearbrick figurines, a hugely-popular range of bear-shaped statues by Japanese toy company Medicom, which often feature designs by high-end collaborators like artist Keith Haring and sportswear giant Nike.

Simmons’ property has also been outfitted with an impressive smart system that controls everything from the heated floors to the motorized drapes — and even the lighting.

It also comes complete with four parking spaces.

The apartment will be the third high-profile U.S. property that Simmons has attempted to offload since he began his career in the NBA in 2016, when he was drafted by the 76ers — however, his time on the American real estate market has not been without its tribulations.

In October 2021, just four months before he was signed to the Nets, Simmons listed his Philadelphia apartment for $3.1 million, having purchased the unit for $2.5 million in 2018.

Located in the Ritz-Carlton residences, the property spans just over 3,000 square feet and features three bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

However, even Simmons’ sporting celebrity could not help him shift the unit, which records show was taken off the market in July 2023 after several price reductions. It was then listed for rent — with an asking price of $12,500 a month — the following year.

The pro baller faced similar struggles on the West Coast, where he previously owned a luxurious home in Hidden Hills, CA, which he purchased for $17.75 million in 2021. He initially put that dwelling on the market for the much higher price of $23 million the following year — but was unable to find a buyer.

After slashing his asking price on multiple occasions, eventually lowering it to $17.5 million, he put the property up on the auction block in a no-reserve sale, where it finally sold for just $12.1 million — leaving Simmons with a $5 million loss.

The King addressed US lawmakers, emphasizing the significance of the bond between the United Kingdom and the United States, declaring it “more important today than it has ever been.”

He highlighted that the current global challenges make it crucial for the relationship between the two nations to remain “irreplaceable and unbreakable.”

Adding that ‘such acts of violence will never succeed’.

He used his historic 20-minute speech to Congress – becoming the first British king in history, and only the second British monarch after his late mother, to address a joint session – to very gently reference the victims of sexual abuse, although he did not refer to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein directly.

Charles spoke about the need to ‘support victims of some of the ills that, so tragically, exist in both our societies today’.

A royal source told the Mail that ‘it was certainly in His Majesty’s mind to acknowledge victims of abuse’.

Buckingham Palace had turned down a request by the family of Virginia Giuffre and other survivors to meet them during this week’s State Visit, saying they could not risk such a meeting while investigations were ongoing into the late paedophile’s activities in the UK, including his friendship with the King’s brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Charles was accompanied on his visit to Congress by his wife, Queen Camilla, who had changed outfits from the morning in honour of the occasion, wearying an Anna Valentine cream coat and dress with black detailing. 

He sparked loud laughter in the chamber when he asked for volunteers to adopt the role of the MP who is ceremonially held ‘hostage’ at Buckingham Palace while the King delivers his speech at the State Opening of Parliament.

‘These days, we look after our guest rather well – to the point that they often do not want to leave. I don’t know, Mr Speaker, if there were any volunteers for that role here today…?’ the King said.

Quoting the playwright Oscar Wilde, Charles remarked: ‘And for all of that time, our destinies as nations have been interlinked.

‘As Oscar Wilde said, ‘We have really everything in common with America nowadays except, of course, language’.’

Referring to the conflict which led to the Declaration of Independence 250 years ago, the King acknowledged previous disputes but emphasised the enduring strength the relationship.

He said: ‘With the Spirit of 1776 in our minds, we can perhaps agree that we do not always agree – at least in the first instance!

‘Ours is a partnership born out of dispute, but no less strong for it… So perhaps, in this example, we can discern that our Nations are in fact instinctively like-minded – a product of the common democratic, legal and social traditions in which our governance is rooted to this day.

‘Drawing on these values and traditions, time and again, our two countries have always found ways to come together. And by Jove, Mr. Speaker, when we have found that way to agree, what great change is brought about – not just for the benefit of our peoples, but of all peoples.

‘This, I believe, is the Special ingredient in our Relationship. As President Trump himself observed during his State Visit to Britain last Autumn.

‘The bond of kinship and identity between America and the United Kingdom is priceless and eternal. It is irreplaceable and unbreakable.’

Referring to his grandfather, King George VI, who became the first reigning British Sovereign to set foot in America in 1939, he also referenced Anglo-US cooperations during the Second World War.

‘Today, we find ourselves in a new era, but those values remain,’ he said.

‘It is an era that is, in many ways, more volatile and more dangerous than the world to which my late Mother spoke, in this Chamber, in 1991.

‘The challenges we face are too great for any one Nation to bear alone.

‘But in this unpredictable environment, our Alliance cannot rest on past achievements, or assume that foundational principles simply endure.

‘As my Prime Minister said last month: ‘Ours is an indispensable partnership. We must not disregard everything that has sustained us for the last eighty years. Instead, we must build on it.’

That renewal, he said: ‘Starts with security.’

‘The United Kingdom recognises that the threats we face demand a transformation in British defence.’

King Charles said in reference to some of the disputes that have dogged Anglo-US relations in recent months.

‘That is why our country, in order to be fit for the future, has committed to the biggest sustained increase in defence spending since the Cold War – during part of which, over fifty years ago, I served with immense pride in the Royal Navy, following in the Naval footsteps of my Father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; my Grandfather, King George VI; my Great-Uncle, Lord Mountbatten; and my Great-Grandfather, King George V.’

Many will see this as a gentle rejoinder to the President for his public dismissal of the capabilities of the Royal Navy.

The King also paid tribute to the victims and their families of 9/11, which happened almost 25 years ago.

‘We stood with you then. And we stand with you now in solemn remembrance of a day that shall never be forgotten,’ he said.

The King used this as a segway into NATO – an organisation President Trump has roundly dismissed and threatened to quit – reminding the US leader of its importance in promoting global peace.

He said: ‘In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, when NATO invoked Article 5 for the first time, and the United Nations Security Council was united in the face of terror, we answered the call together – as our people have done so for more than a century, shoulder to shoulder, through two World Wars, the Cold War, Afghanistan and moments that have defined our shared security.

‘Today, Mr. Speaker, that same, unyielding resolve is needed for the defence of Ukraine and her most courageous people – in order to secure a truly just and lasting peace.

‘From the depths of the Atlantic to the disastrously melting ice-caps of the Arctic, the commitment and expertise of the United States Armed Forces and its allies lie at the heart of N.A.T.O., pledged to each other’s defence, protecting our citizens and interests, keeping North Americans and Europeans safe from our common adversaries.

‘Our defence, intelligence and security ties are hardwired together through relationships measured not in years, but in decades.’

But notably, when the monarch called for the same ‘unyielding resolve’ to be shown for Ukraine as that in the wake of the 9/11 attacks a number of members on the Republican side of the chamber did not rise to their feet with others and clap.

Concluding his speech, the King said that ‘the story of the United Kingdom and the United States is, at its heart, a story of reconciliation, renewal and remarkable partnership’

He added: ‘We do not embark on these remarkable endeavours together out of sentiment. We do so because they build greater shared resilience for the future, so making our citizens safer for generations to come.’

The King also referenced one of the other planks of his State Visit: closer ties on the economy and the slew of trade and technology agreements both governments hope to secure.

His Majesty also highlighted ties in education, research, and cultural exchange, which he said would ’empower citizens and future leaders of both countries’.

And he touched upon climate and environmental issues – not high on President Trump’s list of priorities but very much on his own.

‘We ignore at our peril the fact that these natural systems – in other words, Nature’s own economy – provide the foundation for our prosperity and our national security,’ he said.

Concluding his speech, the King said that ‘the story of the United Kingdom and the United States is, at its heart, a story of reconciliation, renewal and remarkable partnership’. 

‘From the bitter divisions of 250 years ago, we forged a friendship that has grown into one of the most consequential Alliances in human history,’ he said.

‘I pray with all my heart that our Alliance will continue to defend our shared values, with our partners in Europe and the Commonwealth, and across the world, and that we ignore the clarion calls to become ever more inward-looking.

‘Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice-President, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, America’s words carry weight and meaning, as they have since Independence.

‘The actions of this great Nation matter even more. President Lincoln understood this so well, with his reflection in the magisterial Gettysburg Address that the world may little note what we say, but will never forget what we do.

‘And so, to the United States of America, on your 250th birthday, let our two countries rededicate ourselves to each other in the selfless service of our peoples and of all the peoples of the world.

‘God bless the United States and the United Kingdom.’

This was followed by a meeting with the four leaders of the US Congress: Speaker Mr Johnson; House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries; Senate Majority Leader John Thune; and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer.

The Escorting Committee, a bipartisan group of members of Congress appointed by the four leaders, preceded their Majesties into the chamber.

The House Sergeant at Arms and the Senate Sergeant at Arms then announced the King and Queen’s arrival at the doors of the chamber.

It came after a successful day for the King after the American leader spoke passionately about the bonds between the two nations as he staged a ceremonial military welcome for Charles and Queen Camilla at the White House.

Despite the recent tensions between the UK and the US, Mr Trump, speaking from a podium on the South Lawn on the second day of the King’s historic state visit, declared: ‘In the centuries since we won our independence, Americans have had no closer friends than the British.’

And he paid tribute to the ‘essence’ of the ‘special relationship’ in the wake of the Second World War , saying: ‘That understanding of our nation’s unique bond and role in history is the essence of our special relationship and we hope it will always remain that way.’

In a speech Mr Trump branded the US and the UK ‘the two most exceptional nations the world has ever known’, calling on the nations to go forward ‘together… with even stronger resolve’.

Mr Trump concluded: ‘Your Majesties, thank you once again for making this important visit. We are so honoured.’

Intense footage captured by a body camera reveals the dramatic scenes where a California police officer was reportedly abducted by a suspect involved in an armed robbery. During an intense chase along a local road, the officer was compelled to shoot the suspect in the leg.

The events transpired at approximately 5:16 a.m. on February 20, when the Antioch Police Department (APD) received a call about a robbery at the FoodMaxx grocery store on Lone Tree Way. Officers were informed that multiple suspects were involved, according to a statement shared by authorities on social media.

While law enforcement attempted to apprehend the suspects, one individual allegedly tried to escape by crashing his vehicle into a police car with occupants inside, resulting in a physical confrontation with an officer.

“Amidst the struggle, the officer was dragged into the vehicle as the suspect accelerated, colliding with both a patrol car and a nearby store,” the APD explained.

Surveillance video released by the department shows the moment a stolen Infiniti smashed through the front doors of the grocery store before two men climbed out of the vehicle and ran into the business. The suspects then allegedly threatened the store clerk with a handgun, police said. 

Within minutes, an Antioch police officer pulled into the parking lot and attempted to block the suspects’ vehicle as another officer approached the passenger side and opened the door.

The suspect allegedly subsequently accelerated forward at a high rate of speed, trapping the officer inside the vehicle as he sped away. 

“Stop the car! Stop the car!” the trapped officer, identified as Travis Donaldson, can be heard yelling. 

“Get out of the car, bro,” the suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Dominick Desouza, replied.

Desouza is heard threatening to crash the vehicle as the pair continue to argue. 

“Don’t do it,” Donaldson warns. “It’s not worth it.”

“I got a family, bro” Desouza replied. 

Donaldson then begins pleading with Desouza to pull over while also giving him an ultimatum.

“Stop the car, or I will shoot you in the leg,” Donaldson said.

“Officer Donaldson intentionally shot Desouza in the leg to reduce the likelihood of a fatality to Desouza, himself, and members of the community,” the APD said. 

Despite his injury, Desouza crashed into a parked car inside a residential neighborhood and fled on foot, but was located just minutes later, according to police.

Desouza was subsequently taken into custody and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the APD added. Donaldson also only sustained minor injuries from the incident. 

Desouza is charged with kidnapping, robbery, burglary and assault on an officer, according to authorities.

A fundraising email from California gubernatorial hopeful Katie Porter has stirred controversy due to its explicit jab at former President Trump, especially following an incident where a gunman targeted Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The email, provocatively titled “F—k Trump,” recapped remarks Porter delivered at the California Democratic Party Convention in February. During her speech, she brandished a sign emblazoned with the same blunt message.

“I’m Katie Porter. Many of you might remember me as the ‘whiteboard lady’ who held CEOs and billionaires accountable in Congress,” the email began. It was distributed by the progressive group LeftNet and included a link for campaign contributions.

“Today, I want to kick things off with a straightforward, impactful statement we can all agree on. Say it with me. Ready, 1 … 2 … 3 … F—k Trump.

“That’s right, F—k Trump. Together, we’re going to defeat Trump in November and halt his advances,” it concluded.

Porter, one of many Democrats running for California governor, was accused of sending a fundraising email titled “F– Trump” shortly after the assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Conservative political commentator Bethany Mandel shot back after seeing the email.

“Imagine Barack Obama surviving three assassination attempts and 18 hours later, a Republican sent a fundraising email like this,” she wrote on X.

“Appalling. Utterly appalling,” one commenter replied.

“Completely deranged,” another added.

Porter’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment from The California Post.

Porter is best known for delivering intense grillings at congressional hearings. In the governor’s race, she has attempted to embrace a reputation of being the toughest fighter against Trump, including through the use of profane language.

She has used the “F—k Trump” messaging throughout her campaign, including earlier this month, when one individual complained that her campaign kept texting the insult to potential supporters.

“Stop doing stuff for attention, stop making your campaign all about swearing at Trump,” the critic wrote. “I want to know what a candidate will do for California.”

Porter was considered one of three Democratic frontrunners in the race but has slipped following a surge by Xavier Becerra, after disgraced Congressman Eric Swalwell suspended his campaign amid sexual assault allegations.
