Epic Anime Crossover: Meet Richeh, the Unexpected Prodigy of Frieren and Himmel

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Witch Hat Atelier have long been stalwarts of the manga world, captivating audiences with their enchanting stories. With the recent debut of the Witch Hat Atelier anime, enthusiasts of these fantasy sagas are drawing comparisons more than ever. Yet, amid this friendly rivalry, it’s a character from Witch Hat Atelier who has captured the hearts of Frieren aficionados.

Although Richeh’s presence in Witch Hat Atelier may not be predominant, she has quickly endeared herself to fans through her gentle yet straightforward demeanor, coupled with a charming character design. Admirers of Frieren have noticed parallels between Richeh’s attributes and the enchanting qualities of the beloved characters Frieren and Himmel, whimsically suggesting through official art that she could be their long-lost daughter.

To celebrate the anime’s release, new artwork from Witch Hat Atelier has been introduced, featuring prominently on merchandise such as acrylic stands and coasters. Available on Saiing, a Japanese retailer specializing in anime goods, this collection showcases Qifrey and his four apprentices. Each character is elegantly portrayed in their trademark colors while holding their unique flower, adding a touch of magic to their portrayal.

In honor of the anime adaptation, new Witch Hat Atelier art was released to decorate a line of acrylic stands, coasters, and more at Saiing, a Japanese online store for anime merchandise. The character art depicts Qifrey and his four apprentices dressed to the nines, with each girl donning their main color and holding their signature flower.

Richeh’s flower of choice happens to be the Nemophila, which officially inspired the iconic Blue Moon Weed of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. The Blue Moon Weed is Himmel’s favorite bloom, first making an appearance in Episode 2 of Season 1, where Frieren created a field of Blue Moon Weeds to surround a statue of the hero.

Fitting the relationship between Frieren and Himmel, the Nemophila is a flower that symbolizes true love. It’s also representative of innocence and purity, which become the essence of Richeh’s character as the manga progresses into her personal arc.

The Nemophilia is only one of many connections that fans have used to paint Richeh as the unofficial offspring of Studio Madhouse’s sweetest power couple.

Anime Fans Turn Richeh into the Spiritual Love-child of Frieren & Himmel

Richeh is a quiet girl who often falls in the background of Witch Hat Atelier due to the louder personalities Coco and Tetia. However, she is by no means shy. More stoic than she is meek, Richeh strongly resembles Frieren in terms of personality.

Just like everyone’s favorite anime elf, Richeh delivers her lines with an even tone and an unmoving facial expression. She also highly values food and sleep — comforts that Frieren indulges in numerous times on screen. The fact that Richeh is also a young witch-in-training only further ties her as the elven mage’s spiritual daughter.

What connects Qifrey’s youngest apprentice to Himmel is the Nemophila flower and their similar appearances. Richeh and Himmel’s hair and eye color are identical shades of blue, and the pair even share the same color palette in their clothing.

Although neither Shirahama nor the creators of the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga have commented on Richeh’s resemblance to the decade’s most iconic anime couple, this fun theory has gone viral. Anime fans began noticing these similarities shortly after Richeh made her debut in Witch Hat Atelier Episode 2.

The new character art, which was overlooked by Kamome Shirahama herself, heralded a stream of fan-made illustrations honoring the crossover. Numerous artists across social media have taken to creating their own works depicting the three characters as one happy family, forming a universe that finally reunites Frieren and Himmel.

While an official crossover between Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Witch Hat Atelier seems unlikely, it’s a nice treat for fans to glimpse an alternate storyline where Frieren wasn’t too late to realize how much Himmel had meant to her.

This isn’t the first Frieren trend that has united anime fans. At the tail end of 2025, the internet gathered around Reddit user SpaceDev1’s hilarious fan art of Frieren, launching a wave of doodles and heartfelt camaraderie among artists. If there’s anything that the Frieren fandom is great at, it’s creating wholesome trends that put a smile on everyone’s faces.
