Undocumented Immigrant Sentenced Following Deadly California Semitruck Crash Killing Three

0

In a recent development, a 21-year-old Indian national, who federal authorities confirmed was unlawfully present in the U.S., received a prison sentence of four years and eight months. This ruling comes after a catastrophic crash in Southern California last year that resulted in the loss of three lives.

Jashanpreet Singh accepted responsibility by pleading guilty to three felony charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence for an accident in October 2025, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Investigators reported that Singh was operating a semitruck when he collided with slow-moving traffic on Interstate 10 in San Bernardino County, an event that led to three fatalities and multiple injuries.

News Media previously reported that Singh is an illegal immigrant from India who crossed the southern border in 2022 and was released into the United States by the Biden administration.

According to federal sources, Singh was first encountered by Border Patrol agents in California’s El Centro Sector in March 2022 and released pending an immigration hearing.

The crash, which was captured on dashcam video, showed Singh never applying the brakes before slamming into traffic, according to investigators.

Singh obtained a California commercial driver’s license in June 2025, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

In September, federal officials warned California they had uncovered compliance issues involving commercial driver’s licenses and directed the state to make corrections, including pausing the issuance of new licenses to non-citizens and reviewing existing licenses to ensure they complied with federal requirements.

Anyone who did not meet the criteria was supposed to have their license revoked.

Federal officials said Singh should have been disqualified under an emergency Department of Transportation policy. California officials said Singh’s CDL eligibility was based on federally approved employment authorization documents, while federal transportation officials said he should have been disqualified under new emergency rules. However, on Oct. 15, after he turned 21, a restriction on his commercial driver’s license was removed.

Just six days later, authorities said Singh was driving the semitruck involved in the deadly crash.

Toxicology testing later confirmed Singh was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Abuja Woman Details Disturbing Encounter with Married Man After Refusing His Moves

A viral video has ignited a wave of reactions across social media platforms, following a woman’s accusation that a married man assaulted her in Abuja after she spurned his advances.

The woman recounted the incident, explaining that the man approached her with a request to establish a friendship. Though she courteously declined, the situation escalated into an unpleasant confrontation.

This widely shared video has captured significant attention due to claims that the man resorted to verbal abuse before allegedly attacking her in a public setting.

Lady recounts alleged assault after rejecting friendship request

In her own words, the woman stated, “He said he wanted to get to know me and be friends. I said no, I’m not interested.”

She went on to allege, “The next thing I knew, he called me wicked, hurled insults, and slapped me, knocking the glasses off my face. And people were just standing by, watching.”

The incident reportedly left her feeling embarrassed, with the woman suggesting that bystanders did not intervene during the confrontation.

Video sparks debate on public safety and harassment

The clip has generated mixed reactions across social media platforms, with many users condemning the alleged assault and expressing concern over violence against women who reject unwanted advances.

Others also questioned why onlookers allegedly failed to assist the woman during the incident, while several commenters called for greater accountability in cases of public harassment.

As of the time of reporting, there has been no official statement confirming the circumstances surrounding the incident or indicating whether any complaint has been filed with the authorities. However, the viral video continues to fuel discussions about personal safety, consent and the need to address harassment in public spaces.

US Resumes Strait of Hormuz Blockade Amid Stalled Peace Negotiations

0

The United States military extended its operations against Iran into a fourth consecutive day on Wednesday, executing airstrikes and reinstating a naval blockade to halt maritime traffic in and out of Iranian ports.

This military action was initiated after President Donald Trump decided against his initial proposal to impose significant tariffs on vessels navigating through the Strait of Hormuz. He cited new commitments from Gulf nations to significantly invest in the United States as the reason for this reversal.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) emphasized that the primary goal of these strikes is to “reduce Iranian capacities utilized to target commercial shipping” within the vital strait, a major corridor for Gulf oil and gas where Iran has frequently launched attacks on civilian targets.

According to Iranian state media, explosions were reported in proximity to Bandar Abbas, as well as on the Gulf island of Qeshm and other nearby areas.

Initiated at 6am AEST on Wednesday, the naval blockade resumed just an hour following the U.S. airstrikes, prompting a response from an Iranian official. The official stated that this blockade effectively nullified an existing ceasefire agreement intended to facilitate peaceful negotiations.

“There are currently more than 20 US Navy warships and hundreds of military aircraft operating across the Middle East,” CENTCOM said in a post announcing the resumption of the blockade, adding: “American forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready.”

On Tuesday, Iran said a previous round of US strikes targeted Qeshm, while local authorities also said US forces struck “four points” in Bushehr — which hosts Iran’s only civilian nuclear power plant — as well as an Iranian border area near Iraq and Kuwait.

Trump scraps levy on ships in Strait

Iran, in turn, hit two ships in the Strait of Hormuz, killing two crew members, according to the International Maritime Organisation.

A Norwegian tanker was also hit by an explosion caused by an unidentified device off the Omani coast on Tuesday, the crisis response company MTI Network said.

Kuwait said one of its naval vessels was struck during an Iranian missile and drone barrage, wounding four crew members.

Trump, meanwhile, said he was scrapping a planned levy on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz that he announced on Tuesday, replacing the fee with trade deals with Gulf allies.

“I have decided to replace the 20 per cent United States Reimbursement Fee with Trade and Investment Deals that the various Gulf States will be making into the United States,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.

Since last week, renewed US attacks have killed at least 28 people in Iran, according to an AFP tally based on Iranian media and official announcements.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced on Tuesday that they had fired missiles and drones on Bahrain, targeting a residential building for US forces and other facilities.

Support of US considered ‘act of war’

Bahrain said it had intercepted “several treacherous aerial attacks launched by Iran” and accused Iran of targeting civilians, after explosions and sirens were heard in Manama several times.

Iran started blocking the strait following US-Israel attacks in February, after which the US imposed a first blockade on Iran’s ports that lasted from mid-April to mid-June.

Tehran also launched attacks on other US allies in the region, including Jordan, which said Tuesday that it had shot down four missiles from Iran.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said their strikes targeted US forces at an air base and urged Jordanians to issue a “serious demand for the removal of the occupying American bases from the region”.

Iran insists it only targets US interests, but its military command spokesman said any collaboration by Gulf countries with the US would be considered “an act of war”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a fierce opponent of Iran’s alleged nuclear ambitions, warned Iranian leaders on Tuesday that Israel would deal a heavy blow if they launched an attack on his country.

Speaking from Dimona, a southern town widely believed to house Israel’s undeclared nuclear arsenal, he told them: “Do not count on things remaining quiet if you attack us.”

“The days are over when someone strikes us and we don’t hit back with a decisive blow.”

Husband’s Infidelity Over 41-Year Marriage Sparks Questions About Love and Trust

0

DEAR ABBY: After 41 years of marriage, I find myself questioning whether my husband truly loves me. Although he is attentive to my needs and those of our family, a distressing truth overshadows our relationship—he’s been unfaithful throughout our marriage. Despite his care, our physical intimacy is lacking. My attempts at romantic gestures meet only with fleeting, impersonal responses.

In an effort to reignite our relationship, I’ve proposed regular date nights and suggested that we dine out together once or twice a month. Now that our children are grown and independent, I feel we should be embracing our freedom to focus on each other. Despite my efforts, my intuition tells me he continues his infidelities. How should I navigate this? — DISILLUSIONED IN ARIZONA

DEAR DISILLUSIONED: It’s possible your husband loves you, just not in the way you desire. It’s also conceivable that he’s maintaining the marriage to avoid the complexities and costs of divorce. Trust your instincts—if you suspect he’s still unfaithful, you may want to undergo STD testing as a precaution. To obtain concrete evidence of his fidelity, consider hiring a private investigator. Should your suspicions prove correct, you’ll face the difficult decision of whether to remain in the marriage.

DEAR ABBY: Having recently celebrated my 80th birthday, I’m grateful for my excellent health. Through diligent effort, I’ve achieved financial independence, secured long-term care insurance, installed an elevator for convenience in my home, and maintain an active lifestyle.

However, my friends have launched what I jokingly call the “Golden Girls Campaign Movement,” persistently suggesting that we cohabitate or jointly purchase a house. While I cherish their friendship, my autonomy is paramount. I’ve communicated my stance tactfully and, when necessary, with directness—emphasizing that cohabitation is not an option. Yet, my words seem to fall on deaf ears. I seek companionship, not roommates. How can I handle this situation? — ANNOYED IN CALIFORNIA

DEAR ANNOYED: From now on, when your friends raise the subject, smile and say, “I want friends, not roommates. I prefer to live independently.” Repeat it as often as necessary. It’s the truth.

DEAR ABBY: My brother-in-law was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He’s a retired doctor and knows what to expect in the coming years. We’re a close family and are always honest with each other. My wife and I do not know the best ways to support my sister. She is also a health professional who knows what is in store. Any help you may suggest will be shared among our family members, as we want to present a united approach. — FAMILY IN OREGON

DEAR FAMILY: I’m sorry for your brother-in-law’s diagnosis. Because he and his wife are well-equipped to tell you what they will need from you, ask them. Refrain from “going the extra mile” with assistance they have not requested. (You do not want to smother them.)

Closeness and honesty will be your greatest assets as you navigate this chapter of your BIL’s life. For additional support, the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) has resources, both for the affected person and for caregivers.

Trump Hints at Major Announcement in National Address

0

Donald Trump has teased that he will reveal ‘really big news’ during his Thursday night address, which is anticipated to showcase explosive evidence of voter fraud.

According to a White House official speaking to Reuters, the speech is slated to disclose declassified information from probes into U.S. elections, including alleged vulnerabilities found within voting machines.

On the other side, left-wing Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has expressed that networks have a ‘responsibility’ not to broadcast the speech if it is intended to mislead the American public.

While Trump kept specifics under wraps when questioned on Tuesday about the forthcoming address, he did hint at its potential to be quite a dramatic event.

“I’d rather save it; it will concern [election machines]. It’s really big news. It’s really, really big news,” he stated confidently from the Oval Office.

‘Our country has to shape up. What we’re going to be talking about Thursday, it doesn’t get bigger.’

The president could ‌also use his televised speech at 9pm ET to press his debunked claim that he lost his 2020 reelection to Joe Biden due to massive fraud.

Numerous courts, ballot audits and his first-term Justice Department found no evidence of such fraud, including vote-machine rigging.

The federal cybersecurity watchdog joined other federal, state and local officials in declaring the vote ‘the most secure in American history.’

Asked if his speech would address election machine integrity, Trump told reporters on Tuesday, ‘It will concern that subject’ among others, but gave no details.

Propelled by Trump’s repeated claims that U.S. elections are ‘rigged,’ the administration has for over a year sought to increase federal oversight of election administration and reshape the way Americans vote — an effort that legal experts say would take power away from states in violation of the US Constitution.

With Republican control of Congress at stake in the November midterm elections, Democrats and some election security experts have expressed concerns that the Trump administration plans to interfere in those contests.

Ocasio-Cortez suggested the networks shouldn’t even bother to air it.

‘He’s basically doing a made-for-TV broadcast about election fraud and conspiracy theories,’ she told MeidasTouch.

‘I don’t think we should be contributing to the platforming of lies about our elections. Many news outlets oftentimes may receive transcripts [in advance], and I think we have an ethical obligation not to air things that undermine our elections that are not rooted in evidence and in fact.’

Meanwhile, Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff spoke to MS NOW, suggesting he’d heard rumors that Trump might try and declare his and fellow Georgia Democrat Raphael Warnock’s victories ‘illegitimate.’

‘I expect him to use whatever he puts out there on Thursday as a pretext, either for some attempted unconstitutional use of federal power to interfere in the election, or to give his proxies and loyalists in state and local jurisdictions some cover for whatever they might attempt or to lay the groundwork for challenging the result.’

Ossoff slammed the President for focusing on this when he had so many other key issues to deal with.

How should the nation respond if claims of election fraud continue without solid evidence?

‘You’ve got the American public broadly furious with the president for war and tariffs and health care cuts that are making everything more expensive,’ Ossoff said.

‘So now he’s pivoting from ballroom obsession to election conspiracy theory obsession, this is politically disastrous for Republicans in Georgia.’

By casting the 2020 election as illegitimate, Trump is laying the groundwork to challenge Republican losses and undermine Democrats if they win back power in Congress in November, multiple election experts have said.

An administration official, who discussed the plans on condition of anonymity, said on Monday that Trump will discuss in his speech national elections and what White House officials view as voting machine flaws that could permit foreign cyber intrusion.

The administration official said Trump would discuss newly declassified intelligence related to 2020.

Election officials say they are confident that machines are adequately secure and no evidence has been found of foreign intrusions that changed results of past elections.

A forensic analysis submitted last year by Mojave Research, a contractor hired by former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, ‌found flaws in voting machines seized in Puerto Rico but no evidence of hacking.

Gabbard, whose resignation was effective last month, also produced her own report that outlined significant vulnerabilities in voting machines and further safeguards, such as updating their software, that could be implemented, three sources familiar with the matter said.

Trump appointed Bill Pulte (pictured left), director of the federal mortgage regulator, last month as Gabbard’s interim replacement and said he had authorized Pulte to declassify documents related to the 2020 vote

The White House, however, has delayed releasing the report, and Trump has persisted in trying to prove that his 2020 defeat was due to fraud.

He appointed Bill Pulte, director of the federal mortgage regulator, last month as Gabbard’s interim replacement and said he had authorized Pulte to declassify documents related to the 2020 vote.

The White House also recently formed a task force to investigate elements of the 2020 election, three sources familiar with the matter said on condition of anonymity.

One source said journalist John Solomon, a former Fox News contributor, is working on the effort.

Solomon, the source said, has requested access to files related to an analysis that dissented from a U.S. intelligence assessment in 2021 that found no indications that a foreign actor had tried or succeeded in altering ‘any technical aspect’ of the 2020 vote.

The unclassified version of the assessment judged that Russian President Vladimir Putin authorized parts of his government to conduct influence operations aimed at boosting the vote for Trump and undermining public confidence in the U.S. electoral process.

China considered conducting influence operations designed to change the election outcome but decided against doing so, while Iran pursued a ‘multi-pronged’ covert influence campaign to undercut Trump’s candidacy, the assessment said.

The report was drafted by the National Intelligence Council, the top body of U.S. intelligence analysts, along with the CIA, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, the State Department’s intelligence bureau and the National Security Agency.

DCLM Daily Manna 15 July 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — His Word Is Nigh

TOPIC: His Word Is Nigh (DCLM Daily Manna 15 July 2026)

KEY VERSE: But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it – Deuteronomy 30:14

TEXT: Deuteronomy 30:11-14 (KJV)

11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.

12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

The acclaimed writer, Robert R. Updegraff in his book, Obvious Adams: The Story Of A Successful Business Man, tells the story of Adams, a young man who rises to success in the business world through his ability to see and act on the obvious. Adams has a talent for spotting simple solutions that others overlook. The book reminds us that the most effective solutions are often the simplest, and that by focusing on the fundamentals, we can uncover answers that were hidden in plain sight.

In his last book and as part of his last address to the children of Israel, Moses reminds them of the availability of the word of God as a guide and a set of instructions to practice and live by. God had used Moses to bring the Word to the people through the physical writing of the Ten Commandments on tables of stone. The written Word (Genesis to Deuteronomy) was available for them at that time; they also had access to other compilations of the laws by the scribes as revealed by God to Moses. Everything they needed to know and do to please God had been revealed through Moses, and he had faithfully codified them.

Moses took time to refute the idea that the people needed extra revelation to obey and please God. God’s instructions and commandments were comprehensive enough. The instructions were clear and every effort by people to trifle with the word or “search” for it across the sea was unnecessary. The word was near, in their mouth to be spoken and confessed and to be obeyed. He had instructed them earlier, “these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart” (Deuteronomy 6:6). They were to write the words and “…bind them for a sign upon their hand, and they shall be as frontlets between their eyes” (Deuteronomy 6:8).

Today, the word of God is not just available but also near you. You have it in printed form and it is available in electronic format. You can listen to the audio version or watch it on digital platforms. Whatever medium you may choose, the Word is near to guide and help you to walk in obedience to the instructions of your heavenly Father. Read the Word today and be blessed.

Rhapsody Of Realities 15 July 2026: Your Spirit Is The Most Holy Place

Rhapsody Of Realities 15 July 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): Your Spirit Is The Most Holy Place

TOPIC: Your Spirit Is The Most Holy Place (Rhapsody of Realities 15 July 2026)

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? – 1 Corinthians 3:16

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

In the Old Testament, the temple had three distinct sections: the outer court, where sacrifices were offered; the holy place, where the priests ministered; and the innermost part called the Most Holy Place or Holy of Holies.

This inner sanctuary was separated by a thick veil, and only the high priest could enter, and that, only once a year. It was the place of God’s manifest presence. There stood the Ark of the Covenant, with the mercy seat overshadowed by the cherubim of glory.

When the high priest entered with the blood of the sacrifice, he stood before God’s presence, where His glory was revealed. The people never saw it; even the priests couldn’t go in. Yet, this wasn’t merely a religious structure; it was a picture of something far greater.

The Bible says you’re the temple of God. This means the Old Testament arrangement symbolized the recreated human person: the outer court represents the body, the holy place represents the soul, and the Most Holy Place represents your spirit. Now the revelation becomes personal: your spirit is the Holy of Holies. That’s where God dwells.

The presence of God that was once hidden behind the veil is now in you. As the Scripture says, “…your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you…” (1 Corinthians 6:19). In the Old Testament, the high priest approached God from outside. But now, everything has changed. That ministry is within you.

By the Holy Ghost, God’s presence is active in your spirit. His Word is in your heart. His glory is within you. The Kingdom of God is in your spirit (Luke 17:21). Oftentimes, in the old temple, the glory of God would be so strong that it extended into the holy place where the priests were. Yet even then, they couldn’t go beyond the veil. But today, there’s no veil. You are the sanctuary. You’re God’s dwelling place.

You’re not trying to reach God somewhere far away; you’re not looking outward for His presence. His presence is in your spirit. That’s where He speaks, guides, and manifests His power and glory. Become conscious of this truth. When you pray, you’re not trying to get into God’s presence; you pray in His presence because you carry His presence. When you seek direction, you don’t look around; you look within. Live from His presence.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for making me your living temple. I’m conscious that your presence dwells in my spirit, and from within, I receive guidance, strength and direction. I live from my spirit, expressing your glory and righteousness, impacting my world with the Gospel, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Hebrews 9:1-4 (KJV)
Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. [2] For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. [3] And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; [4] Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

Spain’s Unbeaten Star with 49 Caps, Controversial Figure in Dallas, and Key Highlights as England Prepares for Argentina Showdown

0

Good morning and welcome to the World Cup Breakfast from Daily Mail Sport. We’re now on day 35 of the tournament, offering a comprehensive recap of everything you may have missed overnight from North America.

Stick with us to catch up on the latest developments, viral highlights, and upcoming events to keep on your radar.

OVERNIGHT NEWS

Spain’s head coach, Luis de la Fuente, is confident that his team is hitting their stride at the perfect moment following their impressive 2-0 victory against France in the semi-finals. After a goalless draw against Cape Verde in their first match, Spain has really found their rhythm, winning six matches, netting 13 goals from seven different players, and conceding just once. This pattern resembles their journey in the 2010 World Cup as well as Argentina’s in 2022, both of which ended in championship victories. So, peaking at the right time might just be their secret recipe for success.

In less cheerful news for Arsenal supporters, William Saliba has suffered an injury. He was forced to leave the game during the first half, with Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace stepping in as his replacement. Renowned French journalist Julien Laurens shared that Saliba remarked, ‘My back is gone, my back is gone,’ indicating potential concerns about his fitness.

Lastly, Thomas Tuchel, in a recent press briefing, expressed confidence in his ability to steer England to World Cup triumph, regardless of his modest playing background. Light-heartedly, he remarked, ‘You don’t have to be a horse to be a good jockey!’ Tuchel also addressed the media stir regarding his recent exchange with Jude Bellingham, assuring everyone that their relationship remains solid.

VIEW FROM THE GROUND

If the streets of Atlanta last night are anything to go by then England will be playing an effective away game today, for the right to go to the World Cup Final.

Everywhere you turned it seemed there were legions of fans in pale blue and white striped shirts. As I type this, from a Mexican downtown restaurant, the bloke at the side of me is wearing a knock-off Maradona 1986 Le Coq Sportif number.

Whether that scene is replicated in the stadium remains to be seen. The FA have sold around 8,000 tickets and there has been a huge support from Americans for Thomas Tuchel’s men. They have not, yet, faced Lionel Messi, however.

Tuchel and Lionel Scaloni faced the world’s media last night at the magnificent Mercedes Benz Stadium and were both singing from the same hymn sheet when it came to history and the Falklands War. Tuchel said he would not use history as ‘fuel’ for his players before sharing with the room that he was fuelling himself with ice cream and bike rides around parking lots. Scaloni also spoke well, adding that he would not mix football and politics.

Anyway, time for football. After France’s exit, England are one of the last three standing. Tomorrow, the American dream could become a reality. A first World Cup final since 1966 and a chance to avenge the Euros defeat at the hands of Spain.

Here we go.

TEAM OF THE DAY

Thanks to Sofascore for the graphic. Nine men for Spain, two for France. Ouch.

CELEBRITY WATCH

Not for the first time, David Beckham found himself handed premium tickets for a World Cup game.

The former England star – who spent four years in Spain playing for Real Madrid from 2003 to 2007 – attended alongside his wife Victoria.

Three of their kids were there, too: sons Cruz and Romeo, and daughter Harper. There was, of course, no sign of Brooklyn amid a family rift.

Four of Spain’s 2010 World Cup winners – Xavi, Sergio Ramos, Iker Casillas, and Carles Puyol – looked on happily.

Meanwhile, former and current Olympic sprinting champions Usain Bolt and Noah Lyles sat next to each other. Once upon a time, Bolt may have harboured a faint hope of playing in the World Cup – he did, after all, have a short-lived football career which generated many headlines.

Elsewhere in the ground, Timothee Chalamet and Javier Bardem turned up from the acting world.

VIRAL MOMENT OF THE DAY

Was Gianni Infantino booed by thousands of people in the stadium?

It appeared that way, if you were watching the broadcast. Plenty of clips have been doing the rounds on social media, showing Gianni Infantino sat down and smiling awkwardly as a chorus of boos ring out.

ITV commentator Sam Matterface was at pains to clarify that the booing was actually for the owner of NFL team Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, who appeared on the big screen in the stadium, supposedly at the same time.

PICTURE OF THE DAY

It’s the end of an era of French football with Deschamps stepping down and this photo encapsulates the differing directions as he and Mbappe – who he gave his France debut, World Cup debut and made captain – cut forlorn figures with at the full-time whistle.

During their time together, Mbappe has become their country’s all-time record goalscorer (64) and sits ninth in appearances (105). Even in the defeat by Spain, Mbappe made more history as he made his 21st World Cup outing for France – moving one clear of former goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. With the third-fourth play-off to come on Saturday he could extend it further.

STATS OF THE DAY

Spain are now unbeaten in 37 matches in all competitions, dating back to March 2024, when they lost 1-0 to Colombia. They’ve won 28 games and drawn nine in that time.

It’s the joint-longest unbeaten run by a European nation ever. Italy did the same between 2018 and 2021.

Meanwhile, midfielder Fabian Ruiz has now picked up 49 caps for Spain… and is yet to lose.

If England face them in the final, it’ll take something special to overthrow them.

THREE THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR

The glaringly obvious answer is the England vs Argentina match at 8pm UK time, so here are three more nuanced suggestions…

1) Is Declan Rice ready to play?

The current suggestions point to Declan Rice being well enough to play, but that could change over the course of the day.

He spent most of the three days prior to the Norway match in bed sick and came off at half-time. The Arsenal star picked up the bug in Mexico.

Rice has trained with his team-mates, but we don’t know if he is feeling 100 per cent. Will he still be under the weather? How has it been affecting other aspects like his appetite and sleep?

England’s only official absences are Jordan Henderson, who has had surgery on his left forearm after injuring it in the celebrations after the Mexico win, and Jarell Quansah, who is suspended after being sent off in the last-16 match.

2) How will the match be refereed?

It’s no secret by now that many teams and supporters are suspicious of the way Argentina’s matches have been handled by match officials.

Algeria, Austria, Egypt, and Switzerland all complained about the officiating after their matches against the 2022 champions, some of them very vehemently.

Any 50/50 decision that doesn’t go England’s way is naturally going to attract ire. Fans will be watching like hawks.

Ismail Elfath, has been appointed to oversee the encounter. Elfath was the fourth official for the 2022 World Cup final and has refereed him four times in the MLS, with Messi winning all of those.

Obviously, that’s more down to team performances than the officials, but the ‘Messi’s favourite referee’ tag doesn’t help…

3) Watch out for France!

At the time of writing, just past midnight in the United Kingdom, there are local media reports of disturbances in France after their defeat against Spain.

We know that hooligans in France, particularly Paris, will often trash the streets and shops after a victory. It usually isn’t as bad after a defeat, oddly enough, but emergency services have been on guard.

The CL Press Agency has showed police dispersing fans in Paris, while there have been violent clashes and at least four arrests in Lyon, according to Actu Lyon.

Shania Twain Misses Taylor Swift’s Wedding for a Prior Engagement with Harry Styles

Shania Twain recently disclosed she turned down an invitation to Taylor Swift‘s wedding, citing her connection with Swift’s former partner, Harry Styles, as the reason.

In an interview with ETalk, a Canadian entertainment platform, published on Tuesday, July 14, Twain, 60, expressed her regret: “I would have loved nothing more than to attend Taylor’s wedding. Being there would have been wonderful — but I had commitments with Harry.”

Twain was referring to her involvement in kicking off Styles’ series of 12 concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium, which coincided with Swift’s nuptials to Travis Kelce held on July 3 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Reflecting on the invitation, the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” singer explained, “Taylor asked me to her wedding, but I couldn’t make it due to my prior commitments to Harry’s concerts. If Harry ever ties the knot and wants me there, he’ll need to give me more notice.”

Taylor Swift Skips American Music Awards 2026 After Scoring Most Nominations

Even while absent, Taylor Swift celebrated her 2026 American Music Awards nominations, as the event proceeded without her presence. The pop icon, now 36, missed the Monday, May 25 awards show at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. This year, Swift leads the nomination tally at the AMAs, bagging eight nods, including Artist of the Year.

As the ETalk host pointed out, Swift, 36, and Styles, 32, dated from 2012 to 2013, making Twain’s prior engagement all the more awkward. “It’s just kind of funny that it happened that way,” the country singer said in response.

Twain wasn’t the only celebrity to miss out on seeing Swift exchange vows with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, also 36, in a ceremony that attracted 1,000 of the couple’s closest family members and friends. Swift’s former bestie Blake Lively, as well as Margaret Qualley, the estranged wife of Swift’s musical collaborator Jack Antonoff, and Swift’s former pal Lorde did not attend the star-studded nuptials.

Those who did witness the pair, who began dating in the summer of 2023, tie the knot include Selena Gomez, Jessica Alba, Gigi Hadid, Hugh Grant, Karlie Kloss, Paul Rudd, Seth Meyers, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris and more. On the groom’s side, Brittany and Patrick Mahomes, George Kittle, Kareem Hunt and other high-profile NFL players also joined the fun.

A source exclusively shared with Us Weekly three days after the ceremony that the venue was utterly transformed. “The entire wedding had an enchanted garden-inspired vibe,” the insider told Us before revealing that the wedding’s color palette was soft blush and light peach. “There was light peach drapery everywhere as you entered, blush and white florals, tons of lush greenery, huge trees and candlelight throughout.”

Explosive $176K Fine Hits Murdaugh Podcaster Mandy Matney for Ignoring Subpoena

0

In an intriguing turn, a South Carolina judge has held crime reporter and podcaster Mandy Matney in civil contempt, demanding she pay $171,500 in legal fees and costs, along with a $5,000 fine. The court ruled she intentionally disregarded a subpoena connected to the Murdaugh family legal proceedings.

Judge R. Keith Kelly issued a comprehensive 22-page order on Monday, which determined that Matney had willfully ignored both a valid subpoena and a prior court directive to attend a deposition. Her defense, citing safety concerns, was dismissed by the court.

The civil contempt ruling is part of ongoing legal battles stemming from the tragic 2019 boat accident that claimed Mallory Beach’s life. Parker’s convenience stores are among those accused of unlawfully selling alcohol to a minor, Paul Murdaugh, who was involved in the fatal incident. Matney was summoned as a witness in this case despite not being directly involved as a defendant.

Beach, 19, was killed in the February 2019 crash in Beaufort County. Paul Murdaugh was later charged with boating under the influence, but those charges were dismissed after he and his mother, Maggie Murdaugh, were fatally shot at the family’s Colleton County hunting estate in June 2021.

The Beach family’s civil lawsuit against members of the Murdaugh family and Parker’s alleges the convenience store chain illegally sold alcohol to the underage Paul Murdaugh before the crash. The litigation ultimately helped expose Alex Murdaugh’s finances as investigators uncovered the disgraced attorney’s financial crimes.

Kelly wrote that Matney refused to appear at the Bluffton deposition site on March 27 despite acknowledging she understood the court had denied her efforts to quash the subpoena and ordered the deposition to proceed. Instead, she remained at another law office in Bluffton while Parker’s attorneys waited at the noticed location.

The order notes Matney instead appeared by Zoom from another law office in Bluffton.

“Based upon the foregoing, there is clear and convincing evidence that Ms. Matney’s failure to appear was not the result of confusion, mistake, or inability, but rather was a deliberate decision to disregard the subpoena and the Court’s March 16, 2026 Order requiring that she be deposed within 14 days,” Kelly wrote.

Kelly also found Matney’s explanation that she feared for her safety was not credible, writing there was “no persuasive evidence” supporting her allegations that Parker’s attorneys were trying to harass her or place her in danger.

Kelly pointed to Matney’s social media posts after the aborted deposition, including photos showing her eating lemon pound cake with attorney Mark Tinsley and later dining in Savannah. The judge wrote the posts “evidence her intent to defy her obligation to appear at the noticed deposition location.”

Parker’s attorneys originally sought more than $310,000 in fees and costs, but Kelly reduced the award by nearly 45%, ordering Matney to pay $171,500, plus a $5,000 fine.

The court awarded $39,900 to Bannister, Wyatt and Stalvey, LLC; $45,950 to Deborah B. Barbier, LLC; and $85,650 to Maynard Nexsen, PC.

Matney criticized the ruling Monday in a Facebook post.

“I’m not angry that Judge R Keith Kelly found me in contempt of court. I’m angry that he’s ordering me to pay an unprecedented amount of legal fees ($171,000 + $5,000 in fines),” she wrote.

“The South Carolina Justice system is exactly what I’ve been saying all along — CORRUPT,” she added. “And this is my punishment for calling it like it is.”

Kelly wrote there was “no persuasive evidence” supporting Matney’s repeated allegations that Parker’s attorneys were using the deposition process to harass or bully her.

He also concluded the contempt proceedings resulted from Matney’s own conduct, writing that had she appeared for her deposition or accepted one of several alternate locations offered, “she would not be before the Court on a contempt motion.”
