Shocking Crime Unveiled: Husband’s Alleged Murder Attempts Using Multiple Methods Exposed

Inset: Fael Francois (Miami-Dade Jail). Background: The 1100 block of NW 114th Street in Miami, Fla., where Francois allegedly tried to kill his wife (Google Maps).

In Florida, a man is accused of attempting to murder his wife through various violent means, including aiming a firearm at her head and pulling the trigger, only to realize he had neglected to load the magazine.

Fael Francois, aged 67, faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and domestic violence battery. Based on a probable cause arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, the altercation unfolded on a Friday evening at a residence located in the 1100 block of NW 114th Street in Miami.

The wife recounted that she was asleep when her husband tried to suffocate her with a pillow, obstructing her ability to breathe. After she managed to rise from the bed, Francois allegedly grabbed her arms, shook her forcefully, and struck her face several times, as detailed in the affidavit.

Managing to escape once more, she reached out to her sister for help. At this point, Francois reportedly seized a gun, aimed it at her, and declared, “today, you are going to die,” before pulling the trigger. However, the weapon did not fire as it lacked both a chambered round and an inserted magazine.

Officers reported that Francois exclaimed, “Oh s—, it’s not working,” upon realizing the gun’s incapacitation.

Francois then allegedly hit his wife with an unknown object, causing a laceration on her left arm. The victim ran out of the home and hid behind a shed while she called cops.

Officers responded to the home and arrested Francois. He denied all the allegations against him in an interview with authorities.

As of Monday afternoon, he was in the Miami-Dade County Jail without bond. He does not have a future court date listed. Per the affidavit, he was born in Haiti and works as a security guard.

Viral Teen Brawl Sparks US Attorney Pirro’s Bold Move: Parents Face Prosecution in New Plan to Combat Youth Violence

0

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, has issued a stern warning, promising to target both juveniles and their parents following a violent altercation at a Chipotle restaurant in Washington, D.C.’s Navy Yard. This incident underscored a growing issue of youth-led disturbances in the capital.

“These gatherings are far from harmless—they’re violent and disruptive,” Pirro explained during a press conference on Monday. “The chaos witnessed at Chipotle over the weekend wasn’t just a matter of conflict between individuals. It involved outright property destruction and a complete takeover of the establishment by those who felt untouchable.”

Pirro emphasized that such behavior will not be tolerated any longer. “Let me explain our approach: this reign of terror will come to an end. The perception that lawlessness prevails in our streets is false. Our city belongs to its law-abiding citizens, not to unruly mobs seeking notoriety or stirring chaos for social media fame.”

navy yard brawl D.C.

The incident in question occurred on Saturday, May 16, 2026, when a group of teenagers engaged in a brawl inside the Chipotle in the Navy Yard area of Washington, D.C.

Addressing parents directly, Pirro declared, “You are not mere spectators in this crisis. Taxpayers are bearing the costs of increased policing and property repairs due to these illegal gatherings, which often result in noise, fights, robberies, and chaos. This stops now. Parents, you are financially responsible, and if you permit your teens to continue such behavior, we will hold you accountable and prosecute accordingly.”

Pirro said the Metro Police and the FBI are investigating.

In the shocking video of the fight, which Metro D.C. police say occurred Saturday night around 8:40 p.m., about eight adolescents can be seen throwing punches and hurling restaurant furniture at one another as innocent bystanders huddle for safety in the corner of the restaurant.

At the beginning of the video, one suspect in the fight wearing a plastic COVID-19 era mask can be seen beating another suspect with a children’s high chair, hitting him over the head with it twice and then throwing it at him. At another point in the video, a chair was launched across the store.

All of the suspects were dressed head-to-toe in black, with some wearing hoods and masks.

All the while, at least six people, including three young children, huddled behind a man in a red polo shirt in the corner of the restaurant.

The video began as the combatants were already fighting, and lasted for 33 seconds until some of the juveniles involved fled the store. The store was left in complete disarray.

“Witnesses reported one group of juveniles were inside of the establishment when another group entered and a fight broke out immediately,” MPD said in a Monday morning statement. “Both groups fled prior to the officer’s arrival. No injuries were reported.”

MPD says detectives are investigating, and invited anyone with information to come forward.

Friday night, Pirro announced that her office will crack down on parents of juveniles who wreak havoc in the streets of the nation’s capital. Teen takeovers, many involving massive brawls in the Navy Yard neighborhood, have been documented for years.

“Teen takeovers have disrupted neighborhoods, forced businesses to close temporarily, and diverted valuable law enforcement resources from the residents of the District,” Pirro said in a statement. “These incidents have become increasingly common in areas such as Navy Yard and NoMa and are often accompanied by criminal conduct, including assaults, robberies, fights, and other disorderly behavior.”

She said that even though D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has imposed a juvenile curfew, more effort needs to be exerted to combat the youth rowdiness.

“The D.C. Council refuses to deal with the problem, and their lack of action creates an extremely dangerous situation for the people of the District and the teens themselves,” Pirro said. “Law-abiding taxpayers should not subsidize chaos caused by parental neglect. Parents do your job, or we will do ours.”

Adults can now be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor if their children are busted causing late-night chaos, according to the release.

Pirro elaborated further in a news conference on Friday.

“Starting today, my office will aggressively prosecute parents under D.C.’s curfew law,” she said. “It involves contributing to the delinquency of a minor. This statute makes it unlawful for an adult to enable, facilitate, or permit a minor to engage in delinquent acts.”

“At Chipotle, the health and safety of our employees and our guests is our highest priority,” Laurie Schalow, chief corporate affairs officer at Chipotle, told Fox News Digital. “We have zero tolerance for guests who behave recklessly in our restaurants and put others at risk. No team members or guests were physically injured, and we are actively supporting local law enforcement in their investigation of the incident.”

Urgent Evacuations in Southern California: Wildfire Puts Thousands of Homes at Risk

0

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — A fierce wildfire, driven by strong winds, compelled the evacuation of thousands in suburban areas of Southern California on Monday.

The blaze, known as the Sandy Fire, ignited around 10 a.m. in the hills near Simi Valley, situated approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of Los Angeles.

By the middle of the afternoon, it had ravaged over 500 acres (200 hectares) of parched brushland and caused damage to at least one residence, as reported by the Ventura County Fire Department.

Early gusts, reaching speeds of over 30 mph (48 kph), fueled the fire’s spread, though these winds began to diminish as the day progressed, according to fire department spokesperson Scott Dettorre.

“With the approach of evening, we expect the winds to decrease even further,” Dettorre noted.

Evacuation orders and warnings were issued for several neighborhoods in Simi Valley, a city of more than 125,000 people that was shrouded in smoke as helicopters performed water drops. Dettorre didn’t know exactly how many people were ordered to leave.

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, perched on a hillside a few miles away, said it was closed for the day because of the fire.

The cause is under investigation.

Meanwhile, firefighters were battling a 15-square-mile (39-square-km) blaze on Santa Rosa Island, the second-largest of the Channel Islands off the Southern California coast. The fire destroyed a cabin and an equipment shed and forced the evacuation of 11 National Park Service employees.

Santa Rosa, a popular destination for camping and hiking, is home to island foxes, spotted skunks and elephant seals.

Johnny Depp’s Dramatic Gray Hair Makeover Shocks Fans: A Bold Departure from His Iconic Style

As Johnny Depp gears up for his cinematic comeback, he’s embracing a striking new look to mark the occasion. Announcing his return to the big screen with a new Lionsgate project set for release in 2025, Depp has been largely absent from major film roles since his appearance in 2018’s “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” During this hiatus, he took on smaller projects, while media attention pivoted to his widely publicized 2022 trial with ex-wife Amber Heard. Fast forward a few years, Depp is back in the spotlight with two prominent roles that demand dramatic physical transformations.

Depp is renowned for his chameleon-like ability to embody diverse characters, from the iconic Edward Scissorhands to the whimsical Mad Hatter. In 2025, he ventures into new territory, adopting silver hair for his role in “Day Drinker,” directed by Marc Webb. He portrays a mysterious, silver-haired guest aboard a private yacht, forming an unexpected bond with a bartender played by Madelyn Cline. Depp’s transformation is completed with a gray beard, adding to his striking appearance. Fans are embracing his “silver fox” look, with one admirer expressing on social media platform X, “Personally, I think Johnny Depp looks much better with the gray hair. He definitely should stop dying it and go au naturel.”

The actor isn’t unfamiliar with switching up his look entirely for a role in a film. Depp has been able to shift his way through various roles, from Edward Scissorhands to the Mad Hatter, taking his audience by surprise every time. But in 2025, he swapped out his typical dark brown hair for silver for the film “Day Drinker,” directed by Marc Webb. In it, Depp plays a mysterious blue-eyed, gray-haired guest onboard a private yacht who forms an unlikely connection with a bartender, played by Madelyn Cline. Depp’s look for the film is quite striking and is completed by a dyed gray beard to match his altered features. It seems that fans love Depp’s silver fox look. One took to X, writing, “Personally, I think Johnny Depp looks much better with the gray hair. He definitely should stop dying it and go au naturel.”

Ghosts of defamation trials past might always haunt Johnny Depp after his return to Hollywood

This isn’t the only major transformation Johnny Depp has signed up for. Also in 2025, it was announced that he would be starring in Ti West’s “Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol” as the titular Ebenezer Scrooge. With horror guru West directing, Depp had to be prepared to take the classic Charles Dickens tale to some dark places. He also looks unrecognizable as Scrooge, donning gray hair in a completely different way than his handsome character in “Day Drinker.” With old age makeup and gray mutton chops, Depp’s transformation is certainly shocking.

Upon the release of the first-look photos of Depp on set, there were some mixed feelings about his return to the big screen. On one hand, people seemed happy that he was working again, with one commenting on an Instagram post, “Love the way Johnny can transform so incredibly.” On the other hand, it seems that many haven’t moved on from his 2022 defamation trial, with one person commenting, “Men can really abuse women without any accountability or punishment and just get right back to work.” As a reminder, the jury found that Amber Heard had defamed her ex-husband, resulting in a legal victory for Depp. It appears that the highly publicized case will continue to haunt Depp throughout his return to Hollywood, despite his win.

President Tinubu Vows Justice as Ogbomoso School Kidnappers Face Legal Consequences

In a strong condemnation, Bola Tinubu has labeled the murder of a teacher, who was abducted during a series of school attacks in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as a heinous act.

Reports indicate that armed assailants targeted several educational institutions, including Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota Community Grammar School, Esiele, and LA Primary School, all located in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Friday, May 15.

On Monday, a statement from President Tinubu, conveyed by his media aide Bayo Onanuga, revealed that the teacher was killed amid ongoing rescue efforts.

Expressing his condolences, Tinubu reached out to the government and residents of Oyo State, sympathizing with them over the distressing event.

He further reassured the nation that security forces are diligently working to free the remaining captives and bring those responsible for the attack, including any local collaborators, to justice.

The President further pledged that the federal government would continue to collaborate with the Oyo State government to ensure the safe return of the abducted victims and improve security in the affected area.

“I am saddened by the reported killing of one of the teachers kidnapped by the gunmen who invaded the community. I sympathise with Governor Seyi Makinde and commend the steps he has taken on the matter. I sympathise with the families of the kidnapped victims.

The Federal Government is working with the Oyo State government to rescue all the victims. I commend the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioners of Police in Oyo and Kwara States for their quick intervention and the deployment of a tactical and the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) team to rescue the victims.

The IGP, following my instructions, is personally leading the tech-driven operation. We expect a breakthrough soon. The bandits and all their local collaborators will be fished out and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Cases of kidnapping further make imperative the establishment of state police to man some of our underserved areas. The National Assembly should accelerate the enactment of the law creating state police” the President said.

Heartbreak on the Mound: J.T. Ginn’s Near No-Hitter Ends with Walk-Off Home Run

0

ANAHEIM, Calif. — On Monday night, Athletics pitcher J.T. Ginn brought his A-game to the mound, carrying a no-hitter and a slender one-run advantage into the ninth inning. Yet, in a swift turn of fate, just six pitches later, he found himself walking off with the sting of defeat.

The Los Angeles Angels, riding a six-game losing streak, turned the tables in dramatic fashion. Adam Frazier initiated the rally with a sharp leadoff single, setting the stage for Zach Neto. Neto seized the moment, launching a two-run homer that sealed a 2-1 victory for the Angels and delivered a crushing blow to Ginn and his team.

“It was definitely a tough one to swallow,” Ginn reflected afterwards. “But you have to keep your chin up and continue to move forward. This is the nature of the game we play. I focus on attacking the zone and am at peace with that approach.”

Frazier’s single came off an 0-2 pitch, neatly slicing over the shortstop to become just the third hit for Los Angeles that night. Following that, Neto capitalized on a 2-0 sinker, sending it soaring to center field for his eighth homer of the season. The Angels’ thrilling comeback not only ended their losing streak but also underscored the unpredictable excitement of baseball.

Frazier lined an 0-2 pitch over shortstop for a clean single, giving Los Angeles just its third baserunner. Neto then drove a 2-0 sinker to center field for his eighth home run of the season.

“Just a crazy game to play,” Ginn said. “I fell behind 2-0, threw a good sinker, and he was waiting on it and put a good swing on it. So, tip your cap to him.”

Ginn (2-2) was trying for the first no-hitter in the majors since Shota Imanaga combined with two Chicago Cubs relievers for a 12-0 win over Pittsburgh on Sept. 4, 2024. The previous pitcher to throw a complete-game no-hitter was Blake Snell for the San Francisco Giants against Cincinnati on Aug. 2, 2024.

Ginn threw a career-high 105 pitches, 64 for strikes. He struck out 10, walked one and hit Neto with a pitch in the sixth.

The right-hander from Mississippi, who turns 27 on Wednesday, struck out the side in the seventh and finished the inning with his 10th strikeout — setting a career high.

“J.T. dominated all night. For him to walk off the mound with a loss there, it hurts, obviously,” Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said. “He pitched probably the best game he’s pitched in his big league career, and to have an opportunity to get a no-hitter, and two hits later you walk off with a loss, it’s tough. I had full confidence in him going out there in that inning at 100 pitches and trying to get it done. It just didn’t work out.”

Pinch-hitter Lawrence Butler put the A’s ahead 1-0 with an RBI single in the top of the ninth. Angels reliever Chase Silseth got slugger Nick Kurtz to ground into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded.

It was the 30th career start for Ginn, who made his major league debut in August 2024.

“He did such a phenomenal job all night keeping guys off balance. His stuff was nasty. Just kind of rolling, you know, and then it’s gut-wrenching stuff in the ninth for it to end that way. It definitely sucks right now,” Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers said. “Baseball will humble you in all sorts of ways. … It’s going to be hard to flush this one.”

The Angels haven’t been no-hit since Sept. 11, 1999 — the longest active streak in the majors.

Angelina Jolie’s Son Knox, 17, Strikingly Resembles Brad Pitt: Fans Marvel at the Likeness

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s son, Knox, bore a striking resemblance to his father while attending his sister Zahara’s graduation over the weekend.

Jolie, 50, radiated pride as she accompanied Knox, 17, along with her older sons Pax, 22, and Maddox, 24, to Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. However, Brad Pitt, 62, was noticeably absent from the event where Zahara, 21, once again chose to drop his surname during the ceremony.

Knox showcased a daring new style, featuring dark hair highlighted with frosted platinum tips, echoing the iconic look his Oscar-winning father had in the early 2000s.

The young celebrity, born alongside his twin Vivienne and older sister Shiloh, 19, during Jolie’s 12-year relationship with Pitt, which concluded in 2016, appeared polished in a sleek slate grey suit for the occasion.

Jolie made a fashionable entrance, donning a chic grey coat paired with heels, as she entered the auditorium to enthusiastically support a jubilant Zahara.

In another pointed dig at Pitt, her name was read at the ceremony as Zahara Marley Jolie, rather than as the hyphenated Jolie-Pitt.

Zahara, who was adopted by Jolie and Pitt in 2005, was filmed walking across the stage at the historically black private women’s college to receive her diploma in a clip from the ceremony.

It also came nearly two weeks after Jolie scored a legal victory in her court battle against Pitt over their $184 million French winery, the Chateau Miraval.

Zahara appeared to publicly remove Pitt’s last name for the first time in her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority initiation ceremony in late 2023.

It is not clear exactly what Zahara plans to do after graduation, but she has plenty of options after majoring in psychology, with a minor in educational studies.

She wrapped up her schooling just as her mother advanced plans to leave the US this summer.

Earlier this month, Jolie listed her home, a historic 11,000sq ft Cecil B DeMille estate that was designed in a Beaux-Arts style, for a staggering $29.85 million.

Last month, Zahara made rare public comments about her relationship with her A-list mother in a touching speech that notably failed to mention her estranged father, two-and-a-half years after she began dropping his name.

She spoke at a mother-daughter brunch for the Pearls of Purpose Foundation and the Nu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College in Atlanta in April.

A video posted on Facebook showed Zahara’s emotional tribute to her mother as she said: ‘When asked to speak with you all today on the value of mother-daughter relationships, it felt challenging to find the words.

‘Not challenging because I don’t value it, but because my mom and I have a unique, almost kindred, relationship that can be hard to put into words.’

The aspiring actress has been estranged from her famous father and has had a strained relationship with him ever since her parents split up nearly a decade ago.

In her tribute to her mother, Zahara continued: ‘Our love for each other is a found one. I was adopted at six months old and given some of the most special and loving people as my siblings, with a mom who raised us on the value of helping others, being kind and always striving for growth as people.

‘These values may sound simple, but in a world where kindness is overlooked and helping others comes at a cost, I am grateful to have had a role model to show me what it looks like to be a decent human being.’

Zahara said that despite the public scrutiny her family has endured, Jolie has not stopped being curious about all the facets of her life, including what she is learning in and out of the classroom.

She continued by saying: ‘My family embraces the newness and strives to understand these meaningful organizations in my life as I share my experiences.’

Zahara also said that watching her mother’s humanitarian efforts has ‘rubbed off’ on her and that she has often taken on the ‘second mother role’ to her siblings.

The exes fell in love after starring in Mr and Mrs Smith together in 2005.

Zahara said: ‘I loved caring for my younger siblings and mirroring the care and compassion my mom showed us.’

The young woman is the vice president of the Mu Phi chapter of her sorority and said that she has been drawn to leadership roles in school thanks to her famous mother.

Zahara concluded: ‘Through my matriculation, I have witnessed the joy and challenges that come with mentorship and the importance of having positive role models. We all know that we do not get where we are solely on our merit.

‘I think back to a quote I saw years ago that said, “I am a strong woman because a strong woman raised me.” Thank you, Mom.’

Jolie and Pitt were together for about a decade before they married in 2014 but filed for divorce two years later in 2016.

Jolie cited irreconcilable differences and later accused Pitt of abusing both her and their children, which he has denied.

Their lengthy, contentious divorce battle was finalized in late 2024, and since then, many of their kids have dropped Pitt’s surname amid their ongoing estrangement.

Shiloh also now goes by Shiloh Nouvel Jolie as she filed paperwork to legally remove her estranged dad’s surname from her own when she turned 18  in the summer of 2024.

Then, in February, Maddox dropped Pitt from his professional credits as he appeared as Maddox Jolie in the production notes for the film Couture and screenings of the movie Maria.

In May 2024, Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie, not Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, on the playbill for The Outsiders, the Broadway musical.

Pitt made a shocking remark about his family after his bitter divorce with Jolie officially came to an end, but his fractured relationship with their six children remains unresolved.

Pitt, who believes his relationship with two of his children is ‘unfixable,’ opened up about how important family is to him, amid his ongoing and escalating estrangement from his kids.

Speaking at the F1 premiere in Mexico City, he said: ‘No matter the mistake, you just learn from [it] and move on,’ he told ET. ‘It’ll lead to the next success.’

The Oscar winner continued, ‘When you get to my age, you realize how important it is to surround yourself with the people you love, the people that love you back.’

‘Friends, family, and that’s it,” he added. ‘From there, we get to go make things. It’s a pretty simple, I think, equation.’

The interview comes after a source exclusively told the Daily Mail how Pitt felt after Pax was pictured last month stumbling out of the Chateau Marmont, propped up by several friends.

‘He has zero concern with what Pax does or doesn’t do. [Pax’s] actions reflect who he is,’ the insider said.

‘Brad honestly considers his relationship with Pax unfixable,’ they added.

The source went on to say that the actor doesn’t appear to be planning any outreach to either of his adopted sons: ‘Pax and Maddox have made it abundantly clear how they feel, and Brad has nothing to say about either of them.’

As for his other children, the source said that Pitt ‘holds out hope that the others will one day come around. Time heals wounds.’

A source close to Jolie also hit back at her ex-husband at the time and said: ‘Brad continues to play the victim. His fractured relationship with his children is a direct result of how he has treated them.

‘He should stop blaming others. If he wants to rebuild a relationship with the kids, he should acknowledge his own actions and make amends.’

Tragic Discovery in Sydney: Man Charged with Murder of Woman and Children

0

IN BRIEF

  • Police responded to a triple-zero call just before 8pm on Monday.
  • A 47-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Warning: This article discusses domestic and family violence.

A man faces charges of triple murder following the discovery of his wife and two children in what authorities describe as a “particularly violent” incident.

Authorities responded to an emergency call placed just before 8 p.m. on Monday, leading them to a home in south-west Sydney where the bodies were discovered.

Upon entering the residence on Raymond Avenue in Campbelltown, police found the lifeless bodies of two young boys, ages four and 12, along with a 46-year-old woman.

A 47-year-old man was immediately taken into custody at the scene and transported to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was formally charged with three counts of murder. He has been denied bail.

He will face Campbelltown Local Court later on Tuesday.

Acting superintendent Michael Moroney said police believe the three victims were the arrested man’s wife and children.

Despite the horrific nature of the crime, police had no prior knowledge of domestic violence incidents at the home.

“Whilst I can’t give you specific information in regards to how they passed, what I can tell you is that all three persons sustained significant injuries and it was a particularly violent crime scene,” Moroney told ABC News on Tuesday.

“What this does is really highlight the scourge that domestic violence is across society.”

The alleged murders follow a four-day police blitz on known domestic violence offenders by NSW Police that resulted in nearly 1,000 arrests.

Between Wednesday and Saturday, 993 people were arrested and 2,063 charges were laid, with 299 arrest warrants executed.

Police also seized 94 guns and 48 other weapons during Operation Amarok.

Trial Begins for Former Virginia Assistant Principal Accused of Neglecting Warnings Prior to 6-Year-Old’s Shooting of Teacher

0

A former assistant principal in Virginia is currently on trial, facing felony charges of child neglect. The charges stem from accusations that she ignored warnings about a 6-year-old student carrying a loaded gun, which led to the student shooting a teacher in 2023.

Jury selection commenced on Monday in Newport News for the trial of Ebony Parker, who previously served as the assistant principal at Richneck Elementary School. Parker, maintaining her innocence, is charged with eight felony counts of child neglect in connection to the shooting incident involving first-grade teacher Abby Zwerner, as reported by The Associated Press.

According to prosecutors, multiple school staff members alerted Parker to the possibility that the young student had a gun, but she allegedly did not act on these warnings before the shooting occurred.

Parker’s defense contends that she is being scapegoated for larger systemic issues that contributed to the unfortunate event.

Prosecutors brought one count for each of the eight bullets loaded in the gun. If convicted, Parker could face up to five years in prison for each count, AP reported.

The shooting happened on Jan. 6, 2023, when authorities said the 6-year-old student shot Zwerner while she was teaching.

She was hospitalized for nearly two weeks and underwent six surgeries after the bullet narrowly missed her heart. She still has limited use of her left hand, according to the AP.

In November 2025, a jury awarded Zwerner $10 million in a civil lawsuit against Parker, alleging the former administrator dismissed concerns that the student may have brought a gun to school.

In a statement to Fox News Digital at the time, Zwerner’s legal team said the verdict marked a “major step forward in Abby’s long road of healing.”

During the earlier civil trial, Parker’s attorneys argued the shooting was “unforeseeable” and maintained she did not have a legal responsibility to protect Zwerner from the attack.

Zwerner is expected to testify in the criminal trial, AP reported.

Authorities said the child got the gun from his mother’s purse after climbing onto a dresser. The student’s mother was previously sentenced to nearly four years in prison.

Putin Rushes to China Amid Global Efforts to Strengthen Ties with the Superpower

This week, Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit China for discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This meeting comes on the heels of U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent visit to Beijing, adding a layer of international intrigue to the diplomatic scene.

Putin’s visit is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, and it is expected to draw significant attention as China strives to balance its relationship with the United States while maintaining its longstanding alliance with Russia.

The Kremlin has announced that Putin and Xi will focus on strengthening economic ties and addressing significant global and regional issues. This visit also marks the 25th anniversary of the 2001 Sino-Russian Treaty of Friendship.

Wang Zichen, deputy secretary-general at the Beijing-based Centre for China & Globalization, commented, “While Trump’s visit aimed to stabilize the world’s most crucial bilateral relations, Putin’s visit focuses on reaffirming a solid strategic partnership.”

He added, “For China, managing these two diplomatic tracks is not a matter of choosing one over the other.”
