Explosive Corruption Scandal: Maduro Ally Faces U.S. Justice Over Billion-Dollar Oil and Food Program Fraud

0

An individual closely associated with the deposed Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro has been extradited to the United States, as confirmed by Venezuelan authorities. This individual faces serious federal charges, including orchestrating an extensive money laundering and bribery operation linked to Venezuela’s government-run food distribution and oil sectors.

Alex Nain Saab Moran, a 55-year-old Colombian national who previously served as the minister of industry and national production under Maduro’s administration, made his appearance in a Miami federal court on Monday, announced the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida. The Department of Justice emphasized that Saab is considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The prosecution alleges that starting around 2015, Saab spearheaded a prolonged scheme to embezzle funds from a humanitarian initiative designed to supply food to Venezuela’s impoverished citizens.

It is further claimed that Saab and his accomplices illicitly sold Venezuelan state-owned oil worth billions of dollars, bypassing U.S. sanctions in the process, according to the Justice Department. The authorities allege that the profits were funneled through U.S. bank accounts to obscure the transactions and perpetuate the fraudulent activities.

“Alex Saab allegedly used American banks to launder hundreds of millions of dollars stolen from a Venezuelan food program meant for the poor and proceeds from the illegal sale of Venezuelan oil,” Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva said in a statement. “This is unacceptable. The Criminal Division will not allow foreign actors to exploit the American financial system and use it as a safe haven for the proceeds of their corruption.”

Beginning around 2015, Saab and his associates allegedly paid bribes to Venezuelan government officials to secure contracts tied to the country’s CLAP welfare program, which was intended to purchase and distribute food to vulnerable and impoverished Venezuelans.

Instead of delivering the promised food supplies, prosecutors allege the group used shell companies, fraudulent invoices and falsified shipping records to embezzle hundreds of millions of dollars from the program for their own personal gain.

Around 2019, as sweeping U.S. sanctions crippled Venezuela’s oil exports and placed severe strain on the country’s finances, including its ability to pay Saab and his associates under the CLAP program, Saab and his partners allegedly exploited their corrupt ties to government officials to gain access to billions of dollars’ worth of oil owned by Venezuela’s state-run oil company.

Officials allege the group sold the oil under false pretenses and used the profits to sustain and expand the original food fraud scheme.

Saab and his associates reportedly laundered the allegedly stolen funds through U.S. bank accounts in an effort to conceal the money trail, giving American authorities jurisdiction to prosecute the case.

“When illicit proceeds are moved through the United States financial system, our courts have jurisdiction and our prosecutors will act,” U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones said in a statement.

Saab was previously indicted in the U.S. in 2019 and extradited from Cabo Verde in 2021. He was pardoned by President Biden in 2023 as part of a prisoner swap, though prosecutors say the new case involves alleged conduct not covered by that pardon.

A Miami-based attorney for Saab declined to comment to The Associated Press.

If convicted, Saab faces up to 20 years in federal prison. The government is also seeking forfeiture of any property or proceeds allegedly obtained through the alleged criminal activity.

The case was investigated by a U.S. Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF), which includes the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Unleashing Lightning: How Marx’s Leadership is Propelling the Bulldogs to New Heights

MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) – As Madalyn Marx approached her senior year of track at Mahomet-Seymour, she encountered some uncertainties.

Despite being a two-time state champion in the 400 meters, her concerns weren’t about her performance. Instead, she was unsure who would be guiding her through her final high school season.

Just weeks before the season’s start, Lisa Martin took the reins as head coach for the Bulldogs. According to Coach Martin, fostering a team culture and securing commitment became significantly smoother with Marx’s involvement.

“Her focus is on setting goals rather than imposing limits,” Martin explained. “If we can make that mindset contagious, the kids joining our program will understand that the expectation is about growth, not just accumulating medals and trophies.”

Marx, nevertheless, is no stranger to accolades either.

  • FRESHMAN YEAR 2023: Second place finish at state in 400, running 57.18
  • SOPHOMORE YEAR 2024: State champion in 400, running 56.11
  • JUNIOR YEAR 2025: State champion in 400, running 55.88 and runner-up in 200 with a time of 24.84
  • SENIOR YEAR 2026: Sectional champion in 200, 400 and 4×400 – running 54.89 in the 400, just off her personal best time of 54.27 – clocked at the 2026 Apollo Conference meet – which ranks first in the entire state of Illinois for all classes in 2026, according to Athletic.net

Now, Marx seeks to add to her hardware in her last high school meet before running collegiately at Ball State.

The IHSA girls’ state track and field meet is May 21-23 in Charleston.

WCIA is featuring one local track and field athlete daily leading up to the end of both the girls’ and boys’ seasons. See below for more stories:

Beware: Chicago Residents Scammed Thousands by Fake Work-From-Home Social Media Job

0

Imagine a job where getting paid to like videos and photos on social media is part of the daily routine. For many, this might seem like an idyllic work-from-home opportunity. However, for some individuals, this seemingly perfect job turned out to be a costly lesson.

Several people have reached out to the ABC7 I-Team with stories of financial loss stemming from a “work-from-home” scheme that required them to “invest” in order to earn more money. Initially, participants were enticed by the prospect of earning cash simply by engaging with social media posts. Yet, the venture soon revealed its pitfalls, leaving many with empty pockets.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

Erica Tyler, a resident of Chicago’s Westhaven Park neighborhood, was among those who took the leap. She dedicated herself to CloudBoost Technology Advertising, an Australian company, after hearing about the opportunity through a friend. Enthusiastic about the potential, she not only participated herself but also began making presentations and recruiting others to join the program online.

While some individuals reported initial success and earnings, the facade quickly crumbled. Erica and others now warn of the risks associated with such pay-to-work models, highlighting the importance of thorough research and skepticism when it comes to too-good-to-be-true job offers.

Erica heard about the work-from-home program from a friend. Then, she started making presentations and even recruited others online.

The job? To like social media posts from the comfort of her own home. Her husband, Willie Tyler Jr., and friend, Chris Kimbrough, of Bolingbrook, also signed up.

Erica says she started with a $500 cryptocurrency “work” deposit to join the team.

“I’m upset, number one, because they got us to trust them. OK. And we trusted that they were a growing company,” Erica said.

Erica says she later deposited another $15,000 into the crypto platform over the course of a year. She and others say deposits helped them move up in “tiers” to hopefully make more money by “liking” more posts.

But last August, consumers say, the company shut down, and they were unable to cash out. Erica estimates her losses at nearly $37,000. Willie says he lost $3,000 in crypto deposits.

“Put me in a hole,” Willie said. “Because not just on my account, you know, I trusted them, but I also brought people in, family members, some close friends, you know, that they lost money also.”

Kimbrough also says she lost thousands.

“I’m very upset about that,” Kimbrough said. “And, you know, I had one of my friends to put up money for me, and then, family members helped put up money for me.”

Gwendoline Ashford of Georgia was a top recruiter.

“I had a team of over 120 people,” Ashford said.

She says some of those people think she has their money, but she, too, lost money, $27,000, after the company collapsed, she says.

“They had offices in Atlanta, Alabama. They had huge parties, and they would give people money to open up these offices and take videos,” Ashford said.

Ashford started an online petition bringing other former workers together. Many, like the people in ABC7’s story, reported claims to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center and the U.S. Secret Service.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Peter Vogl at the U.S. Secret Service Chicago Field Office told the I-Team about the warning signs.

“Because if you have to pay to participate, if they’re requiring you to get more people involved, too, in order to progress and make more money, then, one might take a little step back and think about what you’re doing,” Vogl said.

If a company is asking workers to pay more to reach the next level, Vogl said, “That’s definitely, in my mind, a red flag, because if you’re an employee of a company, why should you have to pay in order to progress? You should be able to, through your work, gain progress within the company.”

The I-Team called CloudBoost Technology Advertising. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission lists the company as registered business in Sydney, Australia, but the number ABC7 called was disconnected.

ABC7 also called several contact numbers for managers. Most were disconnected. I-Team Consumer Investigator Jason Knowles left voicemails with other contact numbers but never heard back.

When asked if he thought it was too good to be true, Kimbrough said, “Absolutely, and I feel embarrassed.”

“You shouldn’t pay money to work,” Erica said.

The Better Business Bureau told the I-Team that it warns consumers about task-based income offers like this one.

The BBB says research indicates this company carried out tactics commonly associated with work-from-home scams.

How Margaret Thatcher’s Legacy Fuels Sen. John Kennedy’s Enduring Resilience

0

Margaret Thatcher, the formidable former British Prime Minister, left an indelible mark on history and shared a legendary friendship with Ronald Reagan. Known as the “Iron Lady,” a nickname bestowed upon her by the Soviet military newspaper Red Star in 1976, she stood resolute during a time when the Soviet Union posed a significant threat to global stability.

Today, many believe that Thatcher’s steadfast leadership is sorely missed in the United Kingdom. Current Prime Minister Keir Starmer faces challenges, as the nation grapples with maintaining its alliance with the United States, managing an influx of immigrants influencing the cultural fabric, and navigating debates over the future of free speech.

It stuck.

Great Britain could sure use her strong hand now, seeing as current PM Keir Starmer watches as his sovereign state has proven to be a wobbly ally to the United States, allowed itself to be flooded with immigrants who want to change the very essence of British society, and made the notion of free speech a thing of the past.

Home Health Aide Charged with Theft of Client’s Cash and Debit Card Information

Staff Report

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – A 26-year-old Ocala resident, Joshua Daniel Williams, was arrested yesterday under suspicion of exploiting an elderly adult. Authorities allege that Williams, employed as a home health aide, illicitly obtained cash and debit card information from his client.

The High Springs Police Department received a report in June 2025 from a relative of the alleged victim. The relative flagged over $2,500 in fraudulent activities distributed across various debit cards owned by the victim. Despite replacing the cards multiple times due to these unauthorized transactions, the fraudulent charges persisted on the new cards. Additionally, the relative reported the disappearance of $1,465 in cash from different spots within the victim’s residence, noting that these cash losses ceased after Williams ended his employment there.

Investigators discovered that, between April 30 and June 7, the victim’s debit card was used for numerous unauthorized expenses. These included car and insurance payments, purchases at Walmart, dining expenses, a Netflix subscription, a cell phone bill, and around $100 in Cash App transfers. The card was also charged for a three-night stay at a Holiday Inn Express in Gainesville.

On August 1, a High Springs Police Department officer interviewed Williams. After being read his Miranda rights, Williams claimed to be a nursing student at Rasmussen University in Ocala. He stated that his job with HCP Home Health Agency involved assisting clients with household tasks. Williams denied accusations of rifling through dressers, stealing cash, or taking credit cards from the victim’s purse. However, he reportedly confessed to using the victim’s debit card to cover his car insurance and transferring funds to a Cash App account associated with his deceased grandfather.

Williams at first said he had only used the victim’s card once, but he eventually admitted to using the card “once or twice” to make car payments and using it to pay for the hotel stay.

Williams reportedly admitted to taking pictures of debit and credit cards that he found in the victim’s wallet inside her purse. He reportedly said he stole from the victim because he was “low and did not have a job” and had to drive back and forth from Ocala to High Springs.

Williams has been charged with grand theft, exploitation of an elderly victim, fraudulent use of a debit or credit card, and using a two-way communications device to facilitate a felony. He has no criminal history, and Judge Joy Danne set bail at $20,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Austin Shooting Suspect Identified: Detailed Timeline Unveils Teens’ Alleged 28-Hour, 12-Attack Spree

0

Over the weekend, Texas police unveiled the mugshot of a 17-year-old named Cristian Fajardo Mondragon, who is one of three juveniles linked to a series of 12 shooting events in Austin. These incidents resulted in four individuals being injured, and authorities have now provided a detailed timeline of the 28-hour violent spree.

Mondragon was apprehended on Sunday, accused of involvement in a widespread shooting rampage that not only injured four people but also hit two fire stations and led to a shelter-in-place alert in South Austin, according to a statement from the Austin Police Department.

Alongside Mondragon, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old were also detained. Due to state laws that restrict the release of information concerning juvenile suspects, their identities remain undisclosed.

Saturday, May 16, 2026, 11:30 a.m.

The police became aware of a stolen firearm reported by a local business, and surveillance footage later identified that the suspects’ vehicle had recently been stolen as well, as per official reports.

Saturday, May 16, 2026, 3:58 p.m.

Within less than five hours from the initial report, authorities confirmed the first of the alleged shootings at a trailer home. Fortunately, no one was injured in this particular incident.

Saturday, May 16, 2026, 4:30 p.m.

Officers responded to another shooting at the Whisper Hollow apartment complex, in which multiple vehicles and an occupied apartment were struck by gunfire. Witness descriptions and surveillance footage of the suspects led authorities to believe the two shootings were connected.

Saturday, May 16, 2026, 6:08 p.m.

Approximately two hours later, a third shooting was reported after witnesses observed a suspect wearing a black hoodie exiting a black sedan at another apartment complex and firing through the door of a third-floor unit, police said.

Saturday, May 16, 2026, 7 p.m.

Authorities said that a group of suspects matching previous surveillance footage of the alleged shootings stole a Hyundai Elantra from a Motel 6 parking lot, with another shooting being reported just 90 minutes later.

Saturday, May 16, 2026, 8:49 p.m.

Authorities said a suspect fired a gun into an Austin Fire Department station while firefighters were inside. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Saturday, May 16, 2026, 8:55 p.m.

Just six minutes later, authorities received a report that suspects matching the same description had fired shots from their vehicle and struck the windshield of an occupied car. One victim inside the vehicle was injured by broken glass, according to police.

Sunday, May 17, 2026, 3:50 a.m.

Police said the suspects allegedly stole another vehicle, with authorities discovering a previous vehicle containing bullet damage abandoned near 1800 E. Stassney Lane hours later.

Sunday, May 17, 2026, 8:46 a.m.

Authorities received a report regarding a victim who had been shot in the back and stomach near 7409 Janes Ranch Road by a suspect matching previous witness descriptions surrounding the alleged shootings.

Sunday, May 17, 2026, 9 a.m.

Shortly after, officers recovered several other stolen vehicles believed to be connected to the alleged shooting spree.

Sunday, May 17, 2026, 10:46 a.m

A second incident involving shots being fired into another Austin Fire Department station was reported to authorities, with the suspects allegedly stealing yet another vehicle — a white Kia Optima — three hours later.

Sunday, May 17, 2026, 1:44 p.m.

Authorities said two victims were shot in a drive-by shooting involving a white Kia Optima, with two additional shootings being reported within 20 minutes.

Sunday, May 17, 2026, 2:29 p.m.

Authorities said surveillance footage showed a white Kia sedan approaching a victim before the individual fell to the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Sunday, May 17, 2026, 3:23 p.m.

About one hour later, officers with the Manor Police Department spotted the Kia sedan believed to be connected to the alleged shootings, prompting a pursuit in which the three suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

One suspect was immediately detained, with authorities taking the other two individuals into custody separately after a brief search.

The incidents led to the injuries of four people and five vehicles being stolen, police said.

“At this time, investigators believe the incidents were a mix of random and targeted shootings,” APD said in a statement. “Some victims were known to the suspects, while other incidents appeared to occur without any known connection.”

Davis went on to describe the investigation as “complex” because of the sheer number of crime scenes, stolen vehicles and random shootings throughout the city.

Formal charges against the three suspects remain under review, but are expected to include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault/motor vehicle, deadly conduct, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest, theft of a firearm and other related offenses, APD said.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Austin Police Department for comment.

Alabama Family Files Lawsuit After 22-Year-Old Daughter Fatally Shot by Boyfriend’s Father

0

The heartbroken parents of a young university graduate have filed a wrongful death lawsuit following the tragic shooting of their daughter, which occurred under devastating circumstances. The incident unfolded when Whitney Robeson was accidentally shot by her boyfriend’s father, leading to an outpouring of grief and a quest for justice by her family.

According to both a coroner’s report and the lawsuit, Whitney was struck by a .22 caliber bullet from an antique revolver. The firearm was in the hands of Jeffrey Scott Towers when the incident occurred. It was during a visit to Towers’ home in Trussville, Alabama, on March 7, that the unfortunate event took place. Whitney’s boyfriend, Brandon, 22, was also present as his father showcased his collection of guns.

The local coroner’s office initially deemed the shooting an accident. However, the case took a turn on May 11 when Towers, 54, was arrested and charged with manslaughter. He was later released after posting a $30,000 bail, stirring further emotions in the wake of the tragedy.

In response to their daughter’s untimely death, Whitney’s parents, Carin and Matthew Robeson, have initiated a wrongful death lawsuit in Jefferson County Circuit Court. They claim that Towers acted recklessly while handling the firearm, leading to their daughter’s tragic demise.

Now 22-year-old Whitney’s parents, Carin and Matthew Robeson, have begun a wrongful death lawsuit in Jefferson County Circuit Court alleging Towers was careless while he was showing off the firearm.

Auburn University grad Whitney died after she was hit by a .22 bullet from the Colt Navy single-action revolver, which tore into her chest – causing a fatal ‘injury to (her) left lung, heart, and aorta’, according to the county coroner’s autopsy report.

Her parents, from the Richmond area of Virginia, filed the legal action in Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday and are demanding a jury trial.

Their lawsuit says Towers was showing Whitney and Brandon ‘a collection of antique firearms in the upstairs area or attic’ at 9.30pm on March 7 at his home.

Jeffrey Scott Towers, 54, was abruptly charged with manslaughter last Monday after being arrested without incident and is now being sued by Robeson’s parents

It accuses him of failing to check if the gun was loaded when handling it near others and lacking basic firearm safety knowledge.

Towers was holding the loaded .22 caliber revolver when ‘a single shot was inadvertently discharged’ which hit Whitney ‘in the upper left side of her chest’, says the legal action.

Emergency responders battled to save her life and transported her to St Vincent’s East Hospital, but she died at 10.49pm.

Towers ‘had a duty to safely inspect and maintain any and all firearms… so as not to cause harm or death’ but ‘breached this duty by negligently failing to inspect the firearm to ensure it was not loaded prior to handling,’ the parents’ lawsuit alleges.

He showed ‘reckless indifference to the consequences and a conscious disregard for the safety of others’ it adds. He also allegedly ‘engaged in the unsafe handling of a firearm without verifying whether the weapon was loaded’.

Robeson had just embarked on her dream career as an interior design consultant with Restoration Hardware in Birmingham after graduating summa cum laude in Auburn’s College of Human Science department.

Towers’ lawyers, John Amari and Dain Stewart at Amari Law Firm have denied he was criminally responsible for Robeson’s death.

‘What happened to Ms Robeson was a tragic event,’ they said in a statement.

‘While we understand that the justice system must play out, we know that the facts will show that Mr Towers has no criminal history, has been a productive and upstanding citizen for his entire life, and is not guilty of these charges.’

Robeson family lawyer Andrew Moak was quoted by TMZ saying the county DA’s office ‘determined that Mr Towers acted with criminal recklessness.’

‘Given that determination, efforts to portray Mr Towers as ‘innocent’ are not supported by the evidence in the case’.

Moak added: ‘This matter involves the tragic and unnecessary death of a 22-year-old woman whose life was cut short far too soon.

‘We remain committed to allowing the evidence, facts and legal process to speak for themselves.’

Robeson’s family paid tribute to her in a moving obituary.

‘Whitney lived with inimitable grace; keen, quiet attentiveness and loyalty; boundless generosity and an uncanny way of always knowing just what she needed to do,’ they wrote.

‘This marvelous, independent woman was on the cusp of her successful career in interior design: the job she had always wanted since she was a little girl watching HGTV.

‘In the precious little time she had been in that role, Whitney’s new colleagues and supervisor were instantly taken by her kindness, talent, attentiveness, and integrity.’

Robeson’s former sorority also posted a glowing tribute to her.

‘We are incredibly grateful to have shared in her friendship, and our chapter will forever cherish the memories we made together,’ the tribute said.

A new initiative, Wrapped in Whitney’s Love, has been set up to honor her memory.

It will give new mothers and their babies swaddles and other essential supplies to help them get off to a good start in life.

Open Heaven 19 May 2026 TOPIC – When God Speaks

MEMORISE: And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. – Genesis 1:3 (KJV)

READ: Psalm 29:1-11 (KJV)

1 Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength.

2 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters.

4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

5 The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.

6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.

7 The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire.

8 The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.

9 The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.

10 The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever.

11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezra 5-7

Open Heaven 19 May 2026 MESSAGE

In today’s memory verse, God said, “Let there be light” and there was light. When He commanded light into existence, He was declaring that darkness should disappear, sorrow should give way to joy, and stagnation should give way to promotion. God’s word changes lives and situations. When His word comes to a fellow, that person will experience a great turnaround in every aspect of his or her life.

Psalm 29:4 says that God’s voice is powerful and full of majesty. Every time God speaks, all beings in heaven and on earth tremble to do His bidding. Since we know how powerful God’s voice is, we must be careful about what He says concerning us. We must be careful to ensure that He doesn’t pronounce anything negative over us because it will surely come to pass. We must also ensure that He speaks blessings over us because when He does, they will be irreversible.

You might be asking, “How can I get God to speak irreversible blessings over me?” In Genesis 27:1-4, Isaac wanted to bless Esau, and to properly position him for the blessing, he told him to get his weapons and hunt for venison in the field. He also asked him to prepare it in a way that he loved so that after eating the meal, he would bless him. Jacob, however, pretended to be Esau, his brother, and tricked their father into giving him the blessing that was meant for Esau. Later on, when Isaac discovered he had erroneously blessed Jacob, he was unable to reverse the blessing (Genesis 27:33). Hebrews 12:17 tells us that Esau’s protests and tears could not reverse what Jacob had received.

Isaac wanted Esau to serve and please him before he could bless him. The same is true if you want God to bless you. People who serve God wholeheartedly and please Him in their thoughts, words, and actions always receive His blessings. A fellow cannot keep doing what his or her father hates and expect to be blessed by him. He or she cannot continue displeasing him and disobeying his instructions and expect to be looked upon favourably by him.

Beloved, does your life please God? Do you shun sin and run away from the things He hates? Do you obey His instructions willingly and promptly? If your answer to all these questions is “Yes”, then you can expect Him to constantly speak His blessings over you. He will always pronounce blessings over His children in whom He is well pleased.

Open Heaven 19 May 2026 PRAYER POINT

Father, please help me to live a life that pleases You always, so l can be properly positioned to receive Your irreversible blessings.

DCLM Daily Manna 19 May 2026 — Stupidity Of Idolatry

DCLM Daily Manna 19 May 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Stupidity Of Idolatry

TOPIC: Stupidity Of Idolatry (DCLM Daily Manna 19 May 2026)

KEY VERSE: Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it – Habakkuk 2:19

TEXT: Habakkuk 2:13-20 (KJV)

13 Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?

14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

15 Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

16 Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the Lord’s right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory.

17 For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.

18 What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols?

19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

20 But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

In many ancient mythologies, gods were often depicted as having human-like qualities, including the need for rest or sleep at night. Some were made of wood and stones that had to be carried from place to place. Tragically, some people, created in God’s own image, still worship these idols. Prophet Habakkuk had much to lament about in the ungodly lifestyle of his fellow Israelites and their Babylonian overlords. Though one nation was in servitude to the other, both were in bondage to Satan, as shown by their sinful practices. Two of such practices were drunkenness and idolatry, which betrayed ignorance or rejection of God’s standard of holiness. The Babylonians were ignorant of the true God, just as the Athenians, who set up altars to various gods and provided for the Unknown God in Paul’s day.

Each individual should take responsibility for his or her misdeeds, without making excuses. Hence, God condemned worship of idols, as well as both the giver and the taker of alcoholic drinks. Drinking intoxicated beverages is a sinful and dangerous form of recreation because it interferes with rational decision-making and causes damage to individual lives, homes and property. This is why the police will arrest anyone driving under the influence. Such a person is considered careless and reckless and his action or failure to act, could lead to road traffic accidents, often causing death and injuries. If secular authorities are so concerned about the effect of intoxicants on vehicle drivers and operators of machinery, how much more is God concerned about people taking substances that could damage their organs, blur their vision, deaden their conscience and make them prone to temptation.

We should be sober and vigilant. We need also to watch against modern idolatry. Anything we value above God, becomes an idol. An idol can be ourselves, when we place our interests above that of God. Let us start on a new note today, to reject everything idolatrous. We don’t have to indulge in alcohol drinking, simply because it is legal in our area. God’s command deserves more respect than the indulgence of our worldly systems.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Worship of man-made objects is not just an affront to God, but the height of human folly.

Their joint appearance turned heads, especially considering Amanda’s recent high-profile romance with West Wilson. Despite past controversies, the duo was seen with their arms around each other, posing amicably for the cameras.

In a video clip shared by ET Online, Amanda and Kyle seemed completely at ease, exuding an aura of happiness that belied any previous drama, almost resembling a couple in high spirits.

Amanda also mingled with other cast members, radiating joy and excitement in a video posted by Bravo, showcasing her enjoyment of the event.

Amanda also posed with other cast members and appeared to be exceptionally happy to be there in a video shared by Bravo.

West, interestingly, was absent.

Recently, Lindsay Hubbard, who appears on Summer House and In The City with Amanda, opened up about her plans to meet up with Amanda amid her scandalous relationship.

Appearing on Virtual Reali-Tea, Lindsay shared that she has a “lot of hopes and dreams” regarding what she wants to say to Amanda.

“There’s a lot to talk about,” she continued. “You know, there’s the Ciara of it all, there’s the West of it all, there’s the, you know, our friendship, which is… by the way, bottom of the totem pole is like me and all of this. But… I guess I just want like a lot of like, why? Why?”

Lindsay also shared she’s hopeful the upcoming reunion will “help clear some things up,” but she remained uncertain if it had “cleared everything up.”

She also opened up about In The City, explaining she’s hopeful people still tune in given the current controversy.

“What I guess is a little disappointing for me personally is… I worked really hard… for months and months and months… with our casting director, with our executives, with Bravo, to get this show up and running and… [to] get all of our friends involved,” she said.

“Kyle and I have shared the same group of friends… forever… that’s how Summer House started,” she elaborated. “And that’s the same with In The City. So there was a lot of hard work that was put in, and not just… to get it up and running, but… while filming. We do have a lot of new people for the viewers, but they’re old friends of Kyle and I. Like these are some of my best friends.”
